  1. So, things have been going smoothly so far, until today my end chapter code suddenly decided to stop working: 283D78DA 00000410 003CAFFC 00000004 E0000000 80008000 The code has been working fine as a gecko code in the emulator with the button commands up to this point, but no matter how many times I try it it absolutely refuses to work now. I even tried changing the address 003CAFFC manually to 00000004 but that didn't work either. I could try experimenting with the address values, but I don't really even understand how this particular code works (why does 00000004 mean the chapter is over?). Any thoughts?
  2. XD Unfortunately I'm gonna have to change back pretty soon because I want that big tough red lobster back when I start my serious runs :(
  3. haha it's all because of your walrushart "scribbles"! I'm trying to decide if I should make one of them my avatar XD!
  4. idk my memory's a little hazy too. But good to hear that you're ok with what maybe might have not happened whatever it was lol!
  5. Best response to the do-your-own-work firestorm that I've seen yet. Congratulations on handling it well OP and good luck!
  6. Fair enough. I found the part where he asked someone to program a game from scratch for free to be even more amusing/presumptuous.
  7. Wow I'm surprised it's only the 4th time. I've seen a lot more of these kinds of topics recently.
  8. No disrespect intended but I don't think that's going to happen. Usually how I've seen it work is someone who can program does a little but of stuff, shows off their work, and then asks for spriters. But then again, someone who's actually done something might know more about the process than I do.
  9. Oops, I think I confused you with someone else I pissed off XD sorry. Anyway, I think I remember doing something to piss you off so whatever I did I'm sorry.
  10. First off, I hate to be the one to say this but people are gonna need screenshots before they volunteer work, spriters especially are a conservative breed. Also, good luck programming the game from scratch XD! You should probably definitely pick an existing ROM as a base. I'd suggest FE7 but if someone who's actually made a hack before says otherwise you should trust them over me. As for help once you have something to show, I dabble in writing and photoshop for what it's worth, and I'd imagine Nightmare hacking can't be too hard compared to the FE9/FE10 hex editing I'm used to (although I'm probably wrong about that), so maybe I can offer a little bit of help. But yeah, there are plenty of actual spriters and GBA hackers out there who'll be able to help you once you get off the ground.
  11. haha I'd probably do it for a few days if I didn't have to change back to normal Walhart eventually when I start my next logs. Like I said I'm just using this Walmart thing in the interim anyway so why would that be any worse than the blue lobster smiley face thing that is currently my avatar XD Also, Boney, just wanted to say you're cool.
  12. Ok, that's fine, like I said you've definitely helped me get this run off the ground! I'll be sure to credit you (as well as Vincent for his ROM hacking help), when I post the topic for it! I guess I could experiment and try to figure out what A and/or B are, but I read in the gecko code list that the chapter warp code should be sufficient to maintain player phase so I can just use that for now. Edit: Double post for new info/clarification. Did some experimenting, just in case you were curious, the format for the value at the address 003CAAC8 is: XXPPAATT where TT turn XX chapter AA unknown PP phase, 00=player 01=enemy Which is why your code XX0000TT effectively sets the phase equal to player phase as long as it is applied. That code should definitely work for my purposes! Edit 2: Updated the topic title since I figured this topic contains some good info and it might be useful to someone at some point in the future.
  13. Thanks for the info. I'm getting the hang of finding the bosses in the hex, but I have no idea how to do so in the ROM so I guess I'll have to modify the growths again if someone gets a bad stat (I can work back from portrait pointers to find the growths if I have to). The thing is, even if I did find the address in the RAM, the boss in question would already be blue since I am recruiting the bosses, so I couldn't go by that really (of course, I could always do the reverse and turn him red). That post you linked to is pretty interesting and it seems to me like it could potentially be used to remove character's built in immunities (something I thought I needed to know for FE9 Ashnard at one point but it turned out I could circumvent that by killing him with a red dragon), so I'll keep that handy in case I ever need it. Thanks, I'll make note of those two addresses and their respective syntax for when I need to change the turn. The chapter one is useful too. Last question I promise, is there a current phase address that I could change to make it always player phase, or will I have to use the chapter warp/turn one to stop it from changing the phase off of player phase?
  14. Yeah I agree. It was annoying how you could have like 10 cavaliers but only 2 of the better classes like hunter or pirate. However, allowing you to have as many hunters as archers would totally make archers obsolete in FE11 and FE12.
  15. This is even better! Walrushart shall be the new rollaway logo! I'd change my name to Walrushart and use that as my avatar (with your permission of course), but then I'd have to wait another 60 days to change back to Walhart :( I lol'd! I was a bit disappointed when it didn't elaborate on the Walmart that Walhart was going to build though XD.
  16. Hmmm... Ok then I have a last quick question for you (you've been more than enough help already so don't feel obligated to answer it if you don't want to): I'm trying to do a 0% growths boss run and due to FE10's rule that you must always get one stat up, I have to assign either 100% str or mag growth depending on whether the unit uses str or mag as an attacking stat. Well, since boss growths can be hard to identify, it is inevitable that I will mess up and give 100% str to a physical unit or 100% mag to a magic unit. This leads me to my question: Assuming I do mess up and a player controlled boss gains a stat he isn't supposed to, is there a way to reset this without redoing the hex editing? That is, is there an easy way to change stat additions to bosses in the RAM? Actually, now that I think about it (I know I said only one more question, sorry), I'm also going to have to change the current turn in order to preserve turncounts. Do you know where the current turn is stored in the RAM?
  17. It's... It's beautiful *starts crying*
  18. That's not really what I meant, but ok. I meant more like adding FE12 positioning to FE13 or adding FE13 skills to FE12.
  19. Ok you're right, I might actually buy from Walmart if this was their logo.
