  1. FE9 let you equip two items in exactly the manner that was described: one weapon and one non-combat item, such as a Full Guard or Knight Ward or Demi Band.
  2. Given that Awakening spans both Archanea and Valencia, that change would be incredibly strange.
  3. I've never heard of a trailer three months before release misrepresenting a finished game. They've had plenty of time to sort out basic details of the class system. I'm sure there will be plenty of new classes, as well as changes to existing classes like adding axes to things that didn't originally use them, just like FE11/12. I'm just saying that one thing they appear to be keeping the same is having Soldier be the base promotion of the General promotion line.
  4. Based on Villagers still having the option to promise to Soldier rather than Knight, I doubt that's the case.
  5. Marth is still the icon of Fire Emblem. They don't have some vendetta against Shadow Dragon characters. Bringing in Awakening characters certainly wouldn't make sense, since Echoes takes place thousands of years before Awakening.
  6. Casual mode? Yes. Massive gameplay changes in that mode? No. There's nothing wrong with FE games experimenting with different features. New characters and new classes are a given in any remake, but FE games certainly don't need marriage and children to succeed, and I don't think they need the weapon triangle either. We have a "regular"/"non-Echoes" game coming just a year after this, so that can be a time they stick more faithfully to current design conventions. There's no need to try to shove those same features into FE15 when it's not designed for it. (Weapon triangle could feasibly depend on mode like in FE10, but not children or other new characters.)
  7. The first new characters in Shadow Dragon are Freyr and Norne, both of whom use existing classes. That didn't stop them from adding Myrmidon/Swordmaster, Warrior, Berserker, Dark Mage/Sorcerer, and Sage, as well as applying various tweaks like making axes available for Hero and Dracoknight. Fates Witches didn't just not invalidate map design by being DLC-locked; they also did it by having a very different and much more restricted warp ability. And an alternate "Dark Mage" class wouldn't even need to have that.
  8. FE9 did it. With the way this game was advertised, not having rings/shields would seem very strange, and the FE9 implementation seems a lot more feasible than the original.
  9. FE11/12 greatly expended the number of classes with axes, between new and old classes. I think it's likely that this will do the same, weapon triangle or no weapon triangle.
  10. Villager has the same five branching promotion options (Cavalier/Soldier/Mercenary/Archer/Mage) as in Gaiden. So that's one instance of branching promotions, but it could make sense for it to be the only one. It does suggest that they're using the basic class structure of Gaiden (for example, Soldier instead of Knight as a Tier 1 class), but like FE11/12, I'm sure there are plenty of newly added classes to balance things out. An "Echoes" remake in contrast to what seems like a more traditional game coming in 2018 seems like it would be a good place to experiment with things like doing a three-tier system in place of most branching promotions, and of course any sort of reclass-ish system could allow for at least some flexibility in lieu of branching promotions anyway.
  11. They did say they're trying to bring back original features, and we have a non-remake game coming in 2018 to use more typical features. I think it's reasonable to expect some sort of character-specific spell learning system, however much it may differ from the original, and I'd certainly be disappointed if they didn't take this chance to try that. I don't think they'd bring back casting spells off HP, but some sort of MP system could be interesting.
  12. FE11/12 dramatically increased the number of classes with axes from the originals, so I don't think a lack of playable axes in the original Gaiden says anything.
  13. Heroes comes out a couple of months before Echoes, but most people don't want to count Heroes.
  14. By the most widely used convention, which has Fates as 14, it's pretty decisive that Echoes gets counted. I guess you could make a case for Heroes being counted as well but I think it's better to keep it separate, like with BS FE. Realistically, if someone says "FE15", they're probably meaning Echoes and if they say "FE16", they're probably meaning Switch, and I think it's a pretty safe bet that they'll tend to be interpreted as such. If we were to go by current "official" numbering, from what I understand, BS FE is FE4, Radiant Dawn is FE11, Fates is FE15/16/17, I guess Heroes is FE18, and Switch is FE20? And that's just assuming the crossovers aren't counted. Those numbers aren't going to do anything except confuse everyone.
  15. Does this work on Macs? I tried to download it and couldn't figure out how to make it do anything.
  16. Absolutely terrible. Forcing players to redo large sections of the game in hopes that they'll get all the way through the next time is always a mistake. Being set back a certain amount is useful for adding tension and the pressure to play well, but past a certain point there's already plenty of pressure and any more is just annoying. Single FE chapters are already pushing those limits a lot of the time if not going right past them, and this is even worse.
  17. Probably at some point? I haven't been thinking about it a whole lot lately. Any reason you ask?

  18. Couldn't even get into the second game, just his axe? Pathetic.

  19. Man, you really like that FE5 character, huh? Doesn't he just have like ten lines the whole game? So lame.

  20. Huh? Some FE5 character? Why would I care about him?

  21. Mm. Sounds delicious.

  22. Thanks! Although I kinda wish I had known before cutting it. But oh well!

  23. I haven't been playing it much lately, beyond collecting data. I've been playing Pokemon Conquest more lately. Fantastic crossover.
