  1. It's nice to know that Arzette is not the only one who struggles to maneuver the library.
  2. Don't remember this one from the files. This seems to be an entirely new portrait. Hopefully it's not "AI". In any case, quite a few visible changes here. I wonder what happened with Emmung.
  3. I can't believe Heroes would actually add such an obscure character as Ike to the game.
  4. Yeah, he also lost Accorte in chapter 16 to a boss he thought was stationary but very much was not.
  5. Just one more week until Freedom Planet 2 comes to the Switch. Fitting so close to Easter too, since one of the bosses is a combining bunny mecha. Doesn't hide any eggs, though.
  6. Seems Eidolons can use bows now. That is great. Maybe this omission was because there was a weapon limit for individual classes. Or maybe the issue was the animations. Either way it had a good chance of being a nasty surprise, considering Cyltan's group is the one with the most archers, so it's good that this is addressed. They still can't use Greatswords and Dark Magic. Bad news for Helme, but nobody in Cyltan's party can use dark magic naturally anyway. Also, does Jamulan now have Critcal Reprisal and Axe Guard? Is he horse Hilda now? Of course some skill icons are reused, but this does look different.
  7. Adeleide got a unique color palette now. That's nice. She deserves it. And maybe pref weapons not breaking at 0 durability is a thing now? And it sounds like this item works like Provoke.
  8. Probably not intended, since it will reset to 0 if you load a save. Might have something to do with Celice and Julia also replacing their parents in the game's memory. So maybe he has those points, because his dad would have had them. Just like how Celice keeps Sigurd's 2 leadership stars in an unpatched game until you load a game. Considering how much their father explicitly ties into Fee and Sety's story, I do have to wonder if Levin x Fury was at one point predetermined. Running away from his family is kinda Levin's thing. No way Arden would ever do something like that, considering his low movement. Granted, the dialog here does not actually change even for the substitutes. Also the Berserk Sword. Don't actually know how the AI really behaves in this game when berserked. Never felt like trying, given the low activation rate of the swords. And it's not like enemies ever use it against your units. Berserk is a tool solely available to the player here. Arthur is also another case where class matters are a bit different for the substitute. Arthur is a standard mage but Amid is a Wind Mage. Amid also becomes a Mage Fighter instead of a Mage Knight. Only way you get a playable male Mage Fighter in this game. This reads more like an FE7 gaiden chapter requirement. If it comes down to them simply not wanting to use the name Scáthach, I imagine it might be more because people would read it as "scat".
  9. I guess the hair is supposed to make Celice look like Shanan, but he does end up resemble Lakche more. In any case, seeing his appearance being so obviously shaped by the country he grew up in is a wonderful touch. Wait, her brother is Ulster? I thought that was Lester's name. Her substitute is also different in that she becomes a Forrester instead of a Swordmaster. He also should have 3 Leadership stars instead of 2. Normally there is a bug that results in Celice only getting his 3rd leadership star after you saved and loaded the game (and potentially losing it permanently if you clear the map without ever loading). But I think this one is fixed in this patch. That being said, you might still want to save and reload the game. All kinds of weird things happen if you go from one chapter to the next and then simply never load a save. And I have to imagine this patch doesn't fix all of them. Normally you would probably do plenty of loading for the arena anyway. But there is no arena in chapter 6, so I feel an explicit warning is in order here. Johalvier by default, since he has a bit more going on then just being a simp. As units, they are both a letdown. The Hero Axe is dropped on this map, but they are both so statistically underwhelming that it's really not enough to fix them. They are also at a really awkward level too. Too high to grow all that fast, but still far away from their class change. And they won't do well in the arena. Those last 8 levels will come sloooooowly. He is obviously never going to use that Thief Sword. Though I suppose it would it would be a fun troll move if he did. For the record, enemies can in fact steal from you. Don't let the fact that you fought a Thief Fighter in Chapter 5 lure you into a false sense of security. It just that it won't work in the arena. Anyway, the reason he has that sword is because he will drop it if the Thief Sword was not passed down to the 2nd generation. As I said, almost any item not passed down will either find it's way into the shop or will be dropped by someone. So if you see a boss with a weird item, that's probably why it's there. Of course this was back when people thought FE7 Marcus was terrible, so... don't be too surprised that he won't be quite as good as the likes of Marcus. Every unit in Binding Blade has that skill by default, including Marcus. So it's not like this is really any different here. It does feel farfetched to imagine that Ayra could possibly have survived. She is the only mother who adamantly refuses to leave with the children. Considering this, most of the other ones likely weren't even around for the battle. At least if they actually got married. But maybe more importantly, surviving would have required her to actually run at some point. And she was also rather adamant that she would fight with Sigurd to the bitter end. And I have to imagine that this kind of backstabbing would also have really pissed her off. Especially after what happened to the king of Isaac. Running after witnessing this Grandbellian cowardice with her own eyes? Probably not. There is a good chance that's why her brother put her in charge of protecting Shanan in the first place. After all, he knew the war was hopeless. So if Ayra would fight, she would die too. She would never have listened to being told to stay away from the battlefield for her own safety. But giving her the important task of securing Issac's future by protecting his son, the prince of Isaac? She couldn't have said No to that. I have to imagine Briggid likely fought to the bitter end too. In the context of FE4, there is really no indication given that she might have survived. And she clearly has a chip on her shoulder about being the heir of Ulir.
  10. It really is an amazing way to resolve this. Even just on a fundamental level, this is just... idk, the exact opposite of drama? No struggles between morality and loyalty. Everyone gets to walk the path of least resistance because daddy dearest was never daddy dearest in the first place. So convenient. It's like if the Greil Mercenaries would have saved Lucia before Elincia made a decision that, as far as she could tell, would definitely get Lucia killed. It's nice if people are spared from making tough choices that force them to decide who they really are and what matters most to them. But it doesn't make for good stories. It does make you appreciate that the final chapter coupons of FE3 were items with unlimited durability. Not to mention restoring the Shield of Seals was a secondary objective of that game. Even the intro screen reminds you of this, always showing the shield with the notable holes in it, which are filled as you collect the orbs. Clearly something is going to happen once they are all brought together. But there is no indication given in FE6 that the weapons would serve a purpose beyond killing stuff.
  11. Rayleigh, Roger and Garp. Not sure what you would base their movesets even on. Well, Garp was throwing hands in the manga a while ago. But I don't think they ever use anything manga exclusive in the games.
  12. You can also simply send Fury across the cliffs. That will be enough to aggro them, even if she is not anywhere close to anyone's attack range. The Life Ring being called Renewal Band here gives me a headache. They called Trabant's Plot Armor ring the Recover Band, named after the strongest healing magic. So shouldn't the weaker version be called Heal Band? Or Healing Band? Besides "Renewal" is really a mouthful and definitely a lot more obscure then the alternatives. Not suitable at all for such a comparatively weak enchantment. Well, it is part of the core premise of the game. No need for a 2nd generation when their parents are still around to continue the fight. Anything less and I would have been disappointed. That being said, I imagine most of the female characters are not literally meant to actually be present for the BBQ, despite how it's shown in the game. Because most of them do agree to leave before the final battle when the topic is brought up in their final convos. And almost all of them will be confirmed to have survived at least the immediate aftermath of the battle. Come on, showing Deidre to him was not Alvis being a dick to Sigurd. Earlier in the chapter Manfroy directly called out Alvis' motives for wanting Sigurd dead, saying that he is terrified that Deidre might regain her memory eventually. In that context, Alvis bringing Deidre in front of Sigurd makes perfect sense. He wanted to confirm to himself that she truly has forgotten about him. Otherwise he would never find peace of mind. FE4 got some awkward scenes, but I really don't think this is one of them.
  13. Less than 2 weeks for Freedom Planet 2 on Switch. Maybe the Vestaria Saga 1 overhaul will be published around that time too. So much good stuff coming out this year.
  14. I wonder how much you are supposed to read into both of Alvis's officers being female when no one else has any female commanders. Pegasus Knights notwithstanding. But this does mean that you can actually break this event if Cuan and Ethlyn are strong enough and Fury has the Leg Ring. Even potentially softlocking yourself if they take Phinora before you do. Fury may not be able to fight the Thracians directly, since they are still yellow. But she can heal NPCs. It'e even possible to get them to kill Trabant. Though I suppose that does require an actual glitch, since otherwise they just keep marching through the desert one tile at a time. If you let Byron die, this causes him to remain the commander of the NPC army instead of Cuan. Which will break the Lenster Army's AI, which will cause them to actually charge the Thracians. That way Cuan can potentially deal damage to Trabant at both Other and NPC phase, which can be enough to kill him. She is going to purchase fast food and disguise it as her own cooking. But see, with the rising tensions he was worried about his wife's safety so he had the foresight to sent her out of the country in time. And he didn't send his dear sister along with her, because shut up.
  15. Berwick Saga actually has a dummy orb with the capability to warp that does have some unusual restrictions. For one thing the range is capped at 10 hexes. But it's also limited by the movement capabilities of the target unit. By which I mean that you can only Warp a unit to a location that it could, in theory, reach under it's own power. Without beating down any enemies or otherwise interacting with objects along the way. Basically the same logic that determines if you can target someone with the Provoke skill. So for example this means that you cannot warp most units across a river unless there is a land path somewhere. But you could still warp Axel, since he can actually cross water tiles. This also means that you cannot warp someone past locked doors or even past tight unit formations. Or in the case of Derrick, you couldn't even warp him past some sand or cliff hexes if those are the only way to the target location. Though as interesting as it is, I suppose I can see why this ability is unused. After all, while terrain in Berwick Saga is crazy important, it has very few hard barriers. Just about any terrain can be crossed by any movement type. It's all about terrain costs. So in practice you could still teleport just about anywhere on most maps.
  16. Chapter 15x seems radically different now. That artwork of Ophelia remains very interesting. Because in the files there has always has been a variation of Ophelia's portrait with the more saturated blue hair and the red cape seen in this art. So I guess that portrait has always been part of a larger artwork? Makes me wonder how many unused Vestaria Saga art assets that man is sitting on.
  17. The chapter intro did say that it was "early spring". Sure. But it's also the desert, so it's not like he is doing that much better than anyone on foot. Oh, like in Beyond: Two Souls. After Jodie does her political assassination, she gets shot by the mob and you can have Aiden heal her. But if you do that, maybe about 2 minutes later she will just get shot in the exact spot anyway while she is evacuated.
  18. It's probably more patricide specifically that Langbalt has a problem with. Considering he clearly has no problem with filicide. Which makes sense, since patricide it's a sin that he has no chance of ever committing, but has a very real chance to fall victim to. The best principles are the ones you can leverage, while never having to worry about them expecting anything from you.
  19. For the record, if you don't have the money for a full repair, you can still partially repair a weapon. Also green. That is not a healthy color. Well, one of them is dead already. Not sure what you are so worried about. Can you see all of me? Walk into my mystery Step inside and hold on for dear life Do you remember me? Capture you or set you free? I am all, I am all of me
  20. Kinda wanna remove Battle Cry from Daoud and give it to Axel instead. Hiding out in the bushes and preparing to set up the perfect killing blow suits him, given what a backstabber he is.
  21. Sunny is one bouncy Beholder. And I suppose that stasis field is gone permanently. But I suppose it makes sense. If the anti-magic cone didn't disable it, everyone entering the room most certainly did. Wouldn't be much of a trap if the monsters in stasis wouldn't get unfrozen when someone steps into the room. https://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots1300.html
  22. It's just absurd to me that terminology from an arbitrary entry in the series should be retroactively forced into places it was never intended for. Like a square peck into a round hole. Referring to different things with the same name or to the same thing with different names can only ever cause confusion, never mitigate it. It would be like if you go back to the pre-7 Final Fantasy games and replace "spells" with "Materia", just because the 7th game happened to be the first time the series was released in most of the world. Or if you decide to translate Elfire as Elfenlicht and translate Light as Blitz until the end of time, because that's what you did the first time, so now you have to stick with it.
  23. I wonder if Jamulan also got buffed. He is made out to be a titan in combat and a brilliant tactician who even got the better of the combined forces of Gyshkal and the Nyman League, but as a unit he never lived up to the hype. Mediocre stats and locked to a weapon type that does not forgive mediocrity. And buffing units that go with Cyltan seems like a good idea in general. Besides Hilda and possibly Dune, his side is really lacking in heavy hitters. Of course if he were to get buffed, it would be a problem in the warcrimes chapter, since you need to wall him for a while. Not that I would mind if that chapter received a massive overhaul.
  24. Wouldn't exactly call it more consistent with the rest of the series. Archers are the slow and durable type. With a very militaristic appearance. Bow Fighters are clearly on the "fast but frail" side, which if anything would make it a counterpart to the Hunter class. In fact, they have identical stats to Sword Fighters. Not to mention they lack the proper soldier aesthetic of the class. Nor are they ever used as "soldiers". Lamia's squad in chapter 4 are the only time Bow Fighters are ever used as part of a squadron. And they are explicitly mercenaries, not proper soldiers. And calling Forresters "Hero" is also rather questionable. It sorta matches in terms of statistics, at least. But calling them "Mercenary" would make more sense, since that's what advanced Swordfighters are called in Thracia. It's kinda funny. With the way the word "forrest" is used for both advanced Swordfighters and advanced Free Knights, it makes me think the entire reason IS used it in the first place is because they assumed the word was connected to the concept of mercenaries somehow. There is a whole series of Soldier-type classes that are unfinished and went unused. Spear Soldier. Axe Soldier. Sword Soldier. Archer probably would have been the equivalent of the Bow Soldier. At least they share the same stats. Fortunately the Archer and the Spear Soldier made it into Thracia.
  25. I think this is the first time I've seen that bird. I guess it is supposed to be the banner animal of Sinon then? Don't think it's used in the game anywhere. I mean, there is a banner animal on the unit screen, next to the weapons skills. But it's just the same lion that is seen in the Narvian throne room.
