  1. Oh, mind you: I said I don't recommend using savestates to fully enjoy the game. But you're talking about savefiles. Those are completely ok. By savestates I mean those emulator features that allow you to save whenever you want. It's useful if you don't want to play the game too seriously, or if you think it's too difficult for you. But I'd recommend not using them, since I don't use them either when I make the chapters. (it'd be a very bad design choice to make a chapter so hard that the player has basically to "cheat" to beat it). The route split is in chapter 9, yeah. It'll last until chapter 15.
  2. Thank goodness. I couldn't stand that infinite combo, or Miracle Eye in general. >.< Now watch as people learn to spam with Gardevoir and Suicune P.S. lewd Rey, commenting "sexy" to that "69"... Heh heh. And if that "I want to get destroyed" was an offer, I'd gladly accept your challenge.
  3. 69% I was 80% until D rank, then dropped horribly to 58% as I approached B rank, and started to rise again until now. It's really hard when you only get +00,02% per win, though.
  4. So it seems I'm #6 in the world. #1 in Italy. Currently highest rank in the world (S3). Somebody halp. This game just diz gheim
  5. Hey Rey! Nice to see you around here. That makes me think... didn't Blazer have working "dancer" animations for Anakin? I mean, I've never encountered any problems with TLP, and Anakin is basically a restyled dancer. I'll make treasure of this information too, since I'll need to make a proper animation for my promoted lord as well.
  6. You're using the free space full of "FF"s. That may be causing the trouble. Try having only "00 00 00" between the standing animation, and the moving animation. Otherwise, try having nothing at all, or try inserting the moving animation somewhere else (it doesn't always need to be immediately after the standing animation).
  7. Hello! 1. Andre auto-promotes as soon as you enter the battle preparations after he reaches lv.10 in battle. 2. The Sage is more of an all-out attacker, while the Spellfencer is more stategical and can hit both Def and Res. Both are good, so pick your favourite. Sage's skill: "Fast Reader". You deal +7 damage when using a tome against an opponent who wields a tome. Spellfencer's skill: "Stun Blade". (Str+Mag)/3% chance to deal 1.5x damage and put the target to sleep. Bosses won't fall asleep this way. 3. Gold won't be an issue. You find plenty of valuable items that you can sell in the next chapters, along with some gems and some treasure chests containing gold. 4. Midnight Sun isn't designed to work with cheat codes, but since the base is Sacred Stones, you could try those codes on MS at your own risk-- I'm not responsible for whatever may happen to your game, since - I repeat - Midnight Sun isn't supposed to play with codes or even savestates.
  8. Hello, TheNiddo. First of all, thank you very much for the criticism and the compliments. I'm afraid that having a modernised language in this fangame isn't an issue per se. It's a style and design choice, and your preference for a less modern language can't be considered an objective flaw, worth spending countless hours on. As you may already know, I'm not a native speaker, and despite trying my best to write some proper English dialogues, I may still make some mistakes. I do have a proofreader though, it's Wayward Winds. He's just a few posts above you. I trust him deeply, and he's correcting, writing and polishing the dialogues properly, from my point of view. I will answer to all of your critiques, since you were kind and took the time to write a long feedback. The game has been downloaded by 30'000 people, yet you're the first to report that "the enjoyment of the hack is compromised by the modern dialogue". I have to assume that it isn't a problem for most people, and that you've a personal disliking for modern language in videogames. As a game designer, it is my duty to make sure that the dialogue is appealing for most players, but I can't please everyone. Forgive me if the language I use hasn't met your expectations. Schwarz is a rather controversial character, so I can understand your issue with him. However, you've solved the issue by yourself: you've benched him. I also hated the personality of many characters in the original FE games, and therefore benched them. Nothing new here. There are only two istances in the game where Fa's dialogues use the caps consistently. The first one at the end of chapter three, when talking to Shiori. In that case, she was drunk and she was expressing for the first time the feelings she had repressed until then. I think it's just normal for her to talk like that. The second time she uses caps consistently is in the epilogue. You have to consider how much she has gone through, and how painful it must be to know those revelations from Phoebe, along with being betrayed by her most faithful ally. Again, it doesn't seem strange for me to use caps in that context. Do you have a hate for caps in general, perhaps? Because I do as well, but not to the extent I won't use them in proper situations. Finally, let's take a look to Intelligent System's latest game, Fire Emblem Fates, where modern slang, internet memes and unproper caps are all over the game. I think this fangame is doing a better job at keeping the modernised language to an extent, compared to the newly released original games. If you're still willing to make me change the game, please bring a petition with at least 3000 signatures (merely 10% of the people who downloaded the game) if you want your preferences to be taken into consideration. I don't want to sound impolite or unfriendly, but as I stated, this is a preference, not a jarring gameplay issue or a glitch that needs immediate fixing. I'm sure you will understand. I thank you for playing Midnight Sun, and for liking all the features included, bar this one. Best wishes
  9. As Ashley said, half of the code I write is basically stuff that no one will ever notice. But as long as there's even the tiniest possibility of triggering one of those situations, I have to code events for them. Try out the weirdest things in your chapters, you may find out interesting things for the first time, even if the game has been out for more than 2 years now, haha. Even if Ashley has basically pointed out all the possibilities up to ch.8, IIRC
  10. Markyjoe, what have you done... sigh. That "Faratrass' defence is due to her boobs of steel" joke is legendary. Anyway, I know you're curious, so... have this as well.
  11. If you mean why he doesn't have his hood, it's because he has a custom male de-hooded mage animation.
  12. Each promoted class will have a unique skill, so that's enough to make it different from the others. Firstly, you also have to consider that having the possibility to hit both Res and Def is huge. Secondly, Cristoph has a higher Mag growth than Str growth. 55% and 50% respectively. And finally, I'm not inserting a new class in the game if that class is useless compared to another one the player has access to. That makes for a very bad game design, don't you think? #trustme
  13. Oooh, pretty impressive! Did you make all of the portraits? There's room for improvement, but they look really nice. The maps are nice too. I'm just wondering about the gameplay, but time will answer that question.
  14. [spoiler=Wait...]Are you telling me that Anna still tells you to strip their inventories? I'm pretty sure I changed her dialogue, she also gives you a Res boosting item... Something tells me that you didn't visit the village or skipped the dialogue. Otherwise, please provide me with a savestate. And yeah, that's intentional, we've made an ASM code that can remove anyone's items from his/her inventory, and send them to the convoy. If the convoy is full, they'll be destroyed. It's used A LOT in ch9B btw. You get few exp from skirmishes (aside from the boss) but you can find useful materials for forging. Also, you won't be able to access the skirmishes whenever you want like in Sacred Stones (where you simply had to enter the tower and exit to make the skirmishes spawn again). In this case, once you beat the skirmishes in the map, they won't spawn anymore until the following chapter.
  15. Thanks! Those people were wrong, and they confirmed that themselves. I didn't even create a dialogue event between the two. So it's 100% confirmed that you can't talk to Cattleya with anybody during ch.2. It's meant to be that because she's not supposed to be fought.
  16. Fa clearly states you don't have to approach her. I don't know if you've ever heard of Etrian Odyssey, but I wanted to recreate some sort of F.O.E. feeling.
  17. Thank you for your support, Ryosuken. ^^ I'll always try my best to deliver a good hack. Ahahah, glad you got the reference. And thank you for your kind offer. I'm afraid we won't need any extra help for the supports though. Despite the huge amount of work required, the plan is to keep the writer bias to the minimum, and there's some concrete risk of having different writing styles and different characterisation if the writers are many. I'd like to write all of them just with Ashley (after all these years he knows the characters even better than me, probably, haha) but should we fail in our attempt, I'll sure ask for your help. Ashley has answered you correctly. You can get the soldier's letter by having him interact with Sae'rah. Melissa will be recruitable in v.2.0. I think she'll be a dragoon or halberdier. The actual reference comes from Judaism, where Midbar is the "Desert of Soul". Midbar in Midnight Sun is located where Jehanna was, and Jehanna was a desertic country.
  18. ^ Rather than speed screwed, which has a mere 35% growth rate, that's DEF screwed! Look at that. She even has a 50% Def growth. Also, here is how the finalised Skills will look like in battle:
  19. No worries! ^^ Grazie mille caro. :) Beh non direi di essere addirittura meglio di IS, ma indubbiamente ci ho riposto molte energie. Che il risultato finale piaccia, è per me una grande soddisfazione e gioia! Fammi sapere di più. ;) Some chapters are very nasty without the 0 Mov hack, like ch. 5 or ch.6, or even ch.7, where there are stationary enemies that aren't supposed to move. Why should a player be careful around someone who isn't supposed to move? I personally like this feature, and it hasn't been a problem for most players as far as I know, so I'll keep it. Also disabling the movement range was an Hard mode-only option IIRC.
  20. Well, it shouldn't be obvious, it's some kind of secret! You can also go in the area where the boss was with any of your characters. People may have not recruited Menmus or he could be dead, so it'd be a poor design choice to make him essential for the completion of the chapter. Thanks! :) Yup, it's Melissa! Thank you for pointing that out, Ashley. I'd also like to add that you can get the letter by simply taking to the soldier. The auto-triggered dialogue after the battle is just another way of getting it. You're mistaking Str for Mag.
  21. Thank you for you feedback. Yeah, that letter also is some kind of preview of what you'll see in Lazulis... "Distopia" defines it well! Glad you liked the difficulty. x) By the way, did you mean chapter 5? You can beat it with Schwarz, without Menmus. But you won't be able to get all of the items.
  22. Thank you for the compliments. Yeah, a screenshot LP would be very sweet. ^^ Also the growths were edited (and buffed) for this version. I'll give out the chart sooner or later. 14 Mt isn't really all that dangerous, though. Many thanks for the massive feedback! It's -much- appreciated! Mind that, by missing out on Sae'rah, you didn't get the soldier's letter in ch.6. Without that, the recruitment for a certain character in v.2.0 might get very nasty. Could I also have your savefile to test the newer chapters? Thank you, Xem! ^^ Thank you for the huge feedback! ^^ Hopefully we'll see more use of the red text in v.2.0. I can't really do much about the Sae'rah recruitment, it wouldn't make sense for her to follow the youngsters if they didn't know about her father in the first place. Also, can I have your savefile? It'll sure help for further testing of the newer chapters. Thanks, corrected and updated the patch! Nope, you can't talk to Cattleya with Menmus. Faratrass clearly says to stay away from her. You have to kill the boss and keep Menmus alive (either as an enemy or an ally) to recruit Cattleya. Also I don't think anybody knows, but you can also autorecruit Menmus by keeping him alive until the end of the chapter. Yeah, that's perfect! It's also what I suggested to you on Skype some days ago, to be honest. It's not a glitch (I'm writing this big to make sure everybody notices it), but I suppose you skipped the text and didn't notice the whole "Fa has weakened" thing I've added. She just gets her stats back at the end of chapter 5 (and again, I wrote that). It's also in the "Known Bugs.txt". You probably didn't patch the game correctly. You have to patch it to a clean ROM, not to v.1.2. It's highly functional to not show the Mov range of enemies that are supposed to, well, not move. Otherwise players tend to play safe around those units when they really shouldn't. This is the only exception, because the bosses' AI changes through the battle, but it's also true that it's strongly implied in the dialogue. Asra says "I'll kill them if they dare to come any closer!". And when the AI changes, if you pay attention to it, you'll see that their Mov range has been updated and displays "8". Not a bug, read above. Also at this point I'm almost sure 90% of you didn't get the soldier's letter. XP I'll take that into account. P.S. You can access the tower with Fa. So I don't know what happened to those who said you can't get into the tower in Fa's route. If you can replicate the problem, give me more info. Also make sure you've patched the game correctly.
  23. I absolutely love all the singing Rena has done for Fates. While I still can't play the game myself (heh, I live in Europe) I'm looking forward to the day I'll be able to listen to Azura's voice in my 3DS. I often listen to these songs when I'm lost in thoughts all alone (duh) or with my girlfriend. They're sweet, and inspirational. Thanks again for your hard work, Ms. Rena. Big hugs from Italy
