  4. Hey Serene's Foresters, It's been a while! I'm back because I'm replaying FE7 and playing FE6 for the first time. Fire Emblem has always been there to entertain me, so I wanted to share how awesomely it has affected my life. I'm a senior in college now. I started out with FE7 in 9th grade, when I was 14 years old. It defined my whole winter break. At the time, my family moved from one state to the one I'm living in, after I completed my first semester of freshman year. It was a transition period, and definitely tough considering I was a teenager trying to adapt to a completely new environment and people. I distinctly remember sitting around in the living room glued to the computer playing a [perfectly illegal] copy of Blazing Sword. Hey, I had sold my SP years ago and was a broke-ass high schooler! (I've since bought a DS and both FE7 + 8). It was my escape into a fantasy medieval world of dragons and ridiculously good-looking characters. I remember how excited I was to see a classmate playing FE7 in 10th grade Civics class. I briefly bonded with that classmate over the game. It cemented my love for FE. Junior year was spent preparing for the SAT and college applications, so that left little time for games. But around this time, I was engrossed in the FE fandom. I spent many hours reading FE fanfiction and found one of my favorite fanfic authors, Sardonic Kender Smile. Her stories deepened my love for FE to a new level. In 2008, I joined Serenes Forest because it seemed like the best organized and most informational FE website. I enjoyed the time I spent here that year before college started. In the fall, I started college. I believe I had a Nintendo DS by this point. I bought FE8 because I was able to find it in stores. FE7 was so hard to find at Gamestop. When I finally did, I had to buy it. During winter break, I LIVED FE8. I loved that game, though it would never live up to FE7. I went through a Metroid phase around the same time I played FE8. I bought the GBA Metroid games and fell in love with them. So I played the Metroid series, enjoyed the heck out of them, but I found out that FE was still my favorite series. There was a certain comfort to playing FE. It was kind of like a pet, always there to comfort me. Sophomore and junior years of college were miserably difficult. I took the majority of my hardest science classes during this time while adding on a second major. It was a scary time. If I remember correctly, finding FE7 during the winter break of sophomore year was the best thing that happened. Literally. I was sick at the time, but I made my parents take me to the Gamestop that carried a used copy of FE7. It was an amazing feeling. The most challenging part of my college life thus far was studying for the DAT. It's for pre-dental students, like the MCAT for pre-med students. There was no time for anything but studying this past summer. Even then, FE stayed in the back of my mind. It had a comforting presence. I've begun to play through FE7 again, and I'm enjoying every second of it, even the tutorial. I love the writing style, and I feel as if I know the characters so deeply. The creators of FE did an amazing job creating a story that will stay with me for the rest of my life. I will be 80 and playing the DS, or probably some other service that lets me access "retro" games. I love Fire Emblem. - nacho
  5. Wow, Megaman fan, huh? Well, I'm replaying FE7, and playing Advance Wars: Dual Strike for the first time.
  6. Yeah, same thing with me. I only realized it's better to train 'em up to level 20 while playing Sacred Stones.
  7. Thanks Jyosua. I'll keep that in mind and make sure to let you know if I want to add a reply to a dead topic.
  8. I know it's made by the same people @ Cing. They probably share similarities, although I haven't played Trace Memory.
  9. You be-ith (however a person would spell that part) very welcome! =)

  10. Hey, that's sweet of you! Thanks for wishing me a happy birthday.

  11. nacho that sounds real familiar!

  12. I'm sorry, I didn't know there was a rule against resurrecting an old thread. May I have your permission?
