  1. whoa shit it's your birthday? And you're five years older than me now?

    Happy birthday, gramps.

  2. You guys all surprise me. Even when I played FE the most seriously, I always took an effort to maintain a spotless record. As much as everybody online likes to rant about the hate they're getting with the random numbers, in my experience deaths are almost always at least partially the result of sloppy play.
  3. Fair enough. Perception is reality, and since perceptions on a forum are so limited it's really easy to get the wrong idea about things. I still disagree with you though. Every adjustment of the statistics is still important on its own, you know what I mean?
  4. It's always surprised me how many crypto-fascists there are on the internet.
  5. Oh, but it's all about Afghanistan. The UK's really taking the war in Afghanistan seriously still, and isn't holding anything back within the limits of the funding for their effort. Why should the other side, which is a thousand times more desperate, not do the same? November 11th is a nationalist holiday celebrating the "heroism" of UK soldiers. The only surprise is that there weren't a thousand times as many protesters, considering the number of poor religious Muslims in London, and that there weren't bombs exploding all over the island yesterday to match the ones being dropped on family houses and schools at the same time by unmanned drones in Afghanistan. You're right. It's about time the UK stopped even pretending to be a democracy with guaranteed rights for its citizens. Authoritarianism is much more economical, especially in these times of austerity, so you guys might as well stop living a lie and totally embrace it. This is ridiculous how you're getting worked up over something so insubstantial as a protest. The UK isn't in any immediate danger from terrorism, if you're not the top country in the world anymore it's still one of the richest and still enjoys some of the fruits of its four hundred years of colonialism. Your side barely suffers at all from this idiotic war halfway across the world, sure you have to pay for it but that's all going into a corrupt network which would have found a way to profit regardless. Not much is going to change for the worse in your lives from this distant war in Afghanistan, and even less from people protesting it. Don't you see it? If you place no or minimal value on human life, and if you aren't especially enthusiastic to beat the evil Jihadist enemy, why do you even care what other people do or say about the whole issue? By making negative comments about protests on the internet when you haven't put any physical or even moral investment behind them, you appear to be doing exactly the same thing you're condemning. I mean no disrespect here, but it confuses me. --- The only bad thing I see about this protest is that they're wasting some poppies which would have made some really nice tea.
  6. If you don't want to do the time, you should have thought of that before you did the crime.
  7. I read everything, but to be honest it sounds pretty boring to just stay up with your buddies until early in the morning just drinking coffee, so I can't say I'm too impressed. It's good for you if you're doing well in your classes though, keep that going long enough and you'll have lots of good opportunities and things in your life.
  8. I used "your" with a meaning like "whatever." Here's where one of anarchy's big contradictions lies. If we're talking about "negative" rights, or freedoms from oppression, as in the Bill of Rights, a government isn't really necessary for their guarantee because by their nature they limit the government. But "positive" rights, like a right to health care or an implied right to not be endangered by foreign armies, are going to be thrown out the window if they don't have a structure behind them to coerce people into paying for their implementation. And your story brings up another of those contradictions. It's one of the most traditional arguments against anarchy, actually it's present in the Bible where there are not a small numbers of stories, explicitly explicitly set in the time "before there were kings in Israel," which pretty much make that same argument, with people raping and dicing each other up for the lack of anything to stop them.
  9. Hahaha, it's amazing how much time you can end up wasting, just because of a couple unlucky choices by the RNG. The perfect speedrun is all but impossible.
  10. It's been a while since I last came here, but this post drew me back. Anarchy, at the level of the individual, is impossible now. There are just too many people for them not too be ruled by someone. Think of the popular what-if scenario, what if the government were totally destroyed in a nuclear strike? Think about it: If contact outside your city was cut, and the legal structure of governance was crippled, who is being pressed down the most in the current power structure and stands to gain the most in the coming vacuum? The biggest ones are the big ethnic-regional gangs, and after them other big centralized organizations that command lots of local loyalty. And there's the foundation from which a new governing authority will arise. Because there are too many people nowadays, that kind of depopulation scenario is the closest we could ever get to anarchy. I don't believe anarchy could really ever sustain itself, either, although I admit I'm not an expert on every political philosophy and I'm sure your particular brand of anarchy is very sustainable/the best possible thing for all the people of the world.
  11. Is Swim (who goes by Robo in the picture) an asshole for saying this? Personally I think Swim is pretty cool and has a sharp wit, but I see how it could be interpreted either way jajaj.
  12. In life we get a lot of mixed signals. One of the biggest goals, for almost everybody, is self-improvement. And even among those who see no flaws in themselves, who doesn't wish to go back and redo some earlier stage of life with a more current value-set? We all look for improvement and see it in ourselves, but at moments this all breaks down. Ideas and emotions from a long time ago make themselves heard again, and we realize we've been the same person at the core of it since early childhood. For a lot of people, these moments make them give up their goals, at least momentarily. If nothing ever changes, what can be accomplished? I say those people are full of shit. Things do change. You just have to think about it for a moment, and you'll know it's true. I'll even give you an example from my own life. Yesterday, my favorite Pokemon was Marshtomp. This had been my favorite Pokemon for years, and it seemed like things would never change. At that time, Marshtomp to me embodied all that a Pokemon should be right down to the single fin on its head, and no other Pokemon could fill that space more completely. But today, everything changed. That place where Marshtomp was before, that crazy pants-lizard from Pokemon Black and White is now. Who else thinks pants-lizard is pretty cool?
  13. I don't recall having much in the way of seating assignments since I was in middle school, I guess there must be cultural differences about this. I remember I was never really a fan of them, since teachers would always put me in the front. An alphabetical ordering was preferable, since I'd always be under R or S, but a rare reprieve. I really disliked having to line up or do anything in turns by alphabetical order, though, especially if everyone ahead of me was going to take more than a few seconds.
  14. Greetings, comrade, and welcome to the forest! So which crashed and burned forum are you from? I've done my time on a few Fire Emblem forums that fit that description, and it might be we know each other. Speaking of your real-life friends, I'm not a big sportsman or much of a competitive spirit either, but you should get some weed off of them and smoke it as you're playing video games. It makes you suck but it's a good time. I just spent a few hours last week repeatedly failing the fifth mission or so in San Andreas.

    ...

Haha, how's it going guys. For some reason I subscribed to this topic sometime back. This Pitbuller26 seems like a swell guy, anybody know what the fuck happened with him?
  16. When most of you looked at your calendars this morning, your first thought was probably that today should be a day of celebration; after all, is this not the day the South Ossetians declared their independence from the Georgian oppressors? This is the last thought that should be going through your heads. Today, the 20th of September, is in fact the day 632 years ago that the Butcher of Cesena was elected by sycophants and traitors in cardinals' robes as Antipope, the day that the Western Schism began. This schism was the worst of them all, it is directly at the root of a lot of spilled blood, and caused unimaginably more damage as it sowed the seeds of apostasy that later grew into Calvin's Heresies, which continue to poison minds even today. This day should be devoted to seeking out and hunting down our modern-day Cardinal Roberts. Even more significantly, today is the 1549th anniversary of the great victory over the Hun in Chalons. This was a monumental victory, glorious beyond measure, but a very costly one by any man's standard. We should temper our celebration with remembrance for the fallen, both the brave servants of Rome who gave their lives for the victory but also all the good-hearted people who were forced to hold Attila's line by whip and chain and were struck down for their misfortune.
  17. It would ruin the taste. Any real aficionado will tell you, only light your cigars with matches manufactured from oak, cypress or a similar wood. Lighting a cigar the wrong way is even worse than cutting it badly, because the taste of the flame will stick with it for the whole smoke. Once I saw somebody light a 1993 Saint Luis Rey Churchill with a butane lighter...sixty dollars down the drain, and the hostess fainted! Personally I'm a fan of the Cypress Stick item from the original Dragon Warrior. It's only 10G, and after you convert it into a Torch, the thing will stay lit for fifty steps before burning lower, and will last for a total of a hundred-fifty steps before it's extinguished! A real bargain, and useful if you happen on a dark cave or dungeon and don't have the Radiant spell. You can also save a bit of money by buying a preprepared Torch at 8G, but I've heard horror stories about people getting sappy pine torches. Not optimal for any kind of cigar (except a few manufacturers in Costa Rica, but you probably don't have any of those if you were thinking about lighting up with a Fire Emblem!)
  18. I'm a bare 5'8", and luckily for all the metric users on here I was measured by your standard just six months ago, so I know it comes out to 172.5cm. It's a drag being a below-average height man, but I don't complain too much. I can usually find one or two people shorter than I am to stand next to, and I'm just about the same height as my father, and seven inches taller than my mother. My sister has the worst deal of all at 4'11" while wearing shoes, and she's not expected to grow any more (going on 15 years old). Fruit's great and all, but it doesn't give a clearheaded rush to compare like what drinking a lot of coffee quickly can give.
  19. I wouldn't have minded being there, in the Death Star bridge, seeing everything as it happened. Talk about the greatest fireworks show in the galaxy! And I'd probably get a major spiritual experience out of it too, what with those millions of souls crying out in pain together and then suddenly silencing.
  20. Your name is Amine? That sounds like the same name as makes up half of Idi Amin's name. Now there was a true leader, a real hero for all Africa. You'll always be welcome here, sir.

    Tattoos

I've never been able to think of a symbol I think I'd most likely still appreciate getting tattooed on myself five years later. I feel tight even thinking about the removal process. I'm not usually the type to be overly cautious about anything, but I would want to get a tattoo even less than I do now if I had to have somebody else pick what it would be.
  22. I once got warned for harassing a child on this forum and encouraging others to join in with me. I felt it had been worth it, but back then I was a virile speck of a lad at 18. These days I've matured, you could say, seen the benefits of gradualism and come to terms with its drawbacks. Leave rule-breaking to the red-faced revolutionaries, it's almost impossible to enjoy the finer things in life when the authority is always cracking down on you. I hear good cigars aren't to be found in prison for any price, and most of the detained will never get to taste a wine that was not fermented in a toilet or a trash bag. No sir, that stuff's not for me. Have I been rehabilitated? Absolutely. I learned my lesson. I can honestly say I'm a changed man. No longer a danger to cyber-society, and that's the Lord's honest truth. No two ways about it.
  23. I'd like to take this moment to make it clear that this Masked Hero character is not my alt, no matter what the name sounds like. I have enough of those already and don't want to cause any more confusion or trouble.
