  1. DOROTHY Saul [spoiler=Support C]Dorothy: Oh! There you are! Saul: Oh, hello, Dorothy. Dorothy: Where were you, Brother Saul? You always wander off without saying anything... Saul: It is not "wandering off", Dorothy. I was diligently spreading word of our church at the villages on the way here. Dorothy: ...Somehow I don't think you were doing your job. Saul: Don't be ridiculous. I found a young maiden being harassed by a very rude man. Dorothy: You mean yourself? Saul: Please, Dorothy, have some faith in me. Anyway, I drove the man off and rescued the maiden. I acted exactly as a holy man ought to. Dorothy: Really? You're not exactly very strong. How did you do it? Saul: I went to the man and clung to him, crying, "I thought we loved each other! Why do you reject me?!" Dorothy: ...... Saul: The man fled with great haste. The maiden, however, was also gone by the time I looked back. [spoiler=Support B]Dorothy: Brother Saul! I can't believe you! Saul: What is it, Dorothy? Can't I have a single moment of peace and quiet? Dorothy: Oh no, you're not brushing me away this time. I heard what you've been up to. You've been flirting with every girl in this army. Saul: There is a misunderstanding. I was just trying to spread the love of the gods... Dorothy: No, I'm not accepting that again! Saul: What do you mean? Dorothy: I've heard that excuse before. Think of something better! Saul: Hm... Very well. Wait a moment while I think of a new one. Dorothy: What's the point of that?! Saul: ...Dorothy, why are you so upset? This is nothing new. Dorothy: That's exactly the problem! People will misjudge the church if they see you. Saul: I am insulted! I do my job properly, Dorothy. Or haven't you noticed the sharp increase in our female followers? Dorothy: Don't you understand? If you're just flirting with everyone... Saul: Understand what? Dorothy: Enough of this! I'll chew you out tonight when we go back to the chapel. *leaves* Saul: ...Sigh... [spoiler=Support A]Saul: Dorothy... Dorothy: What is it? I still haven't heard a valid explanation. Saul: Dorothy, I am sorry... I am sorry I...never understood your feelings... Dorothy: ...Huh? Saul: I understand perfectly now. You dislike my flirting because I've always left you out of it. Dorothy: Wha...?! Saul: Dorothy, I never knew that you had such strong feelings for me... Dorothy: Ah, er, um... Th-that was just... Saul: But I am a servant of the gods... I must be equally caring to all women. Please forgive me, Dorothy... Dorothy: Uh... Um, er... I... Saul: How did that sound, Dorothy? Dorothy: ...Wh-what? Saul: I pondered deeply, and that was the best excuse I could come up with. Dorothy: ...... Saul: V-violence is not a solution, Dorothy. Our loving gods would not approve of you pointing your bow at an ally... Dorothy: I don't care! Get out of my sight before I fill you with arrows! Saul: Sigh... What are you so upset about now? Dorothy: Your blockheadedness! *Saul flees* Perceval [spoiler=Support C]Dorothy: *is offscreen* Look out! Perceval: ! Dorothy: *runs up to Perceval* I-I-I'm terribly sorry! I was aiming for an enemy, but my arrow flew this way... Oh, what have I done? Are you hurt? Perceval: I'm fine. It didn't even touch me. Dorothy: I-I... I'm so sorry! Perceval: There's no need to apologize. Things like this often happen on the battlefield. Dorothy: But...! Perceval: Even if I was hit by your arrow, I would share the blame. After all, it's my responsibility to be aware of my surroundings. Dorothy: But... Perceval: Never let your mind wander in battle. That is a rule. Just don't be too upset about it. All right? Dorothy: ...Yes, I understand. I'm probably just being a nuisance by apologizing over and over. I'll try harder next time! [spoiler=Support B]Dorothy: Sigh... That last shot was just luck... I have to practice more. Perhaps I should aim more like this... Oh! General Perceval! Perceval: *approaches Dorothy* Training? Very good. Dorothy: Y-yes, thank you! I sometimes make mistakes like before, so I thought I should train myself so I'll be more than just a hindrance... Perceval: Good... Dorothy, I've been thinking. You should relax more when you shoot. Dorothy: Huh...? You were watching how I fight?! Perceval: I always try to watch and understand how my comrades fight. I was waiting for a chance to tell you, but I can see that you tend to panic when you fight. Dorothy: Yes, that's true... I get scared in real battles, and I can't move the way I want to... Perceval: ...There is no need for archers to come out front. Stay back and cover for us. You must tell yourself that there is nothing to be afraid of. We will defend the front lines. Dorothy: ...Good thinking! [spoiler=Support A]Dorothy: ...Yes! Yes, that was great! Perceval: *approaches Dorothy* You seem to have improved, Dorothy. Dorothy: General Perceval! I'm trying to relax when I shoot, as you said. I think...I think I'm getting better at it! Perceval: I knew you had talent. It was just a matter of getting your confidence together, and now that you have, you'll keep improving more and more. Dorothy: I can relax when I think that the others are defending the front lines... I'm surprised how safe I can feel on the battlefield. Perceval: Ah, but that is the same for us up front as well. We would not be able to charge in without support from the back lines. Dorothy: ...Am I useful to you too, General Perceval? Perceval: Yes, you're helping me out a great deal. I look forward to your support in future battles. Dorothy: You can count on me! Yoder [spoiler=Support C]Dorothy: Father Yoder? Yoder: Ah, Dorothy. You look unwell. What is the matter? Dorothy: Do you know why I can't use healing staves? Yoder: Hm... Dorothy: I want to help injured people by using staves like you and Brother Saul. I've been praying every day, and I think I've been faithful. Yoder: Yes, you have. Your faith is an example to us all. Dorothy: But I still can't help the injured... I want to heal them, but I can't. Will I never have that power? Am I unworthy? Yoder: No, that's not it at all. Do you know the story of the owl and the eagle, Dorothy? Dorothy: No, I don't. Please tell it to me, Father Yoder. Yoder: It is a story of when Saint Elimine still walked the Earth. One day, during Saint Elimine's journeys, an owl approached her from the forest. Dorothy: Yes... Yoder: The owl said to her, "I wish to go to the land of gods. Would you show me the way?" Saint Elimine thought for a moment, and replied, "The gods' domain lies high above the clouds. Your wings are not strong enough to take you there." The owl, disappointed, returned to the forest. Dorothy: Poor owl... Yoder: Yes, indeed. We shall continue the story some other time. Dorothy: Some other time? Why? Yoder: Remember the teachings of Saint Elimine. Do not try to understand things too quickly. You must ponder on what you are told and develop your own thoughts. Dorothy: Oh... Right. Then please continue the story another time, Father Yoder. Yoder: Of course, Dorothy. I promise you I will. [spoiler=Support B]Yoder: ...After parting with the owl, Saint Elimine continued on her journey. The next day, an eagle swooped down from the mountain. Dorothy: Uh-huh... Yoder: The eagle said to her, "I wish to go to the land of gods. Would you show me the way?" Saint Elimine thought for a moment, and replied, "The gods' domain lies in a distant land beyond the night. Your eyes will not be able to guide you through the dark." The eagle, disappointed, returned to the mountain. Dorothy: ...... Yoder: However, the sympathetic and kind Saint Elimine could not ignore the two birds. She went back, and brought the owl and eagle together. She then told them, "Journey to the land of gods together." Dorothy: Together... Yoder: Yes. The two birds traveled to the gods' land together. The eagle used his powerful wings to carry the owl, and the owl used his great eyes to guide the eagle through the night. Together, they were able to reach the gods' domain. That is the end of the story. Do you understand it, Dorothy? Dorothy: Well... Sort of. [spoiler=Support A]Dorothy: Father Yoder! Yoder: Yes, Dorothy? Dorothy: About that story... Yoder: Yes? Dorothy: I thought about it, but... I'm not very smart... So I still don't get it... I sort of have an idea of what it might be about, but... Yoder: Then you have an answer, Dorothy. A story is just a story. It has no definite meaning. Each person interprets a story and comes up with their own answers. Dorothy: Oh, good. I think I feel better now, Father Yoder. Yoder: Do you? Very good, Dorothy. Dorothy: But what did Saint Elimine do after that? Are there more stories? Yoder: Yes, the journey of Saint Elimine was a long one. The next day when Saint Elimine continued on her travels... Shin [spoiler=Support C]Shin: ...... ...... ...... Dorothy: *is at a distance* ...Sigh... Why am I hiding here? I want to talk to him, but... He's a little...scary. I want to see if we can show each other any tricks with the bow. But how can I approach him? Well...maybe some other time... [spoiler=Support B]Dorothy: Hello, Shin! My name is Dorothy. ...A little too sudden? Would you like to have an archery duel? ...But I don't want to compete with him. What a nice bow! Where did you buy it? ...No, that doesn't sound right at all. Hmm... This is tough. *Shin approaches* Dorothy: ...... Oh, I know! I can bring him some food that he likes... Wait, but I have no idea what he likes... I like fruit, but what about him? Shin: ...... *leaves* Dorothy: Hmm... Well... I need to think some more... [spoiler=Support A]Dorothy: Hmm... ...But why am I worrying so much over him? ...I can't figure that out, either. Anyway, I have to figure out a way to talk to him. *Shin approaches* Dorothy: ...... Oh... * Shin: ...... Dorothy: Um, uh...er... H-hello! Shin: Yes, hello... Dorothy: Uh, wh...what... Shin: ? Dorothy: W-what...what...kind... Shin: What kind...? Dorothy: What kind food of do like you? ...Shoot... Shin: Fruit. Dorothy: Huh? Shin: You're asking what kind of food I like, right? I like fruit. Dorothy: Uh... ...Did you hear me talking to myself? Shin: It was difficult not to with such a loud voice. Dorothy: Er...uh... Shin: If you wish to talk to me, don't hesitate. Dorothy: It's all right?! Shin: Of course... We fight together. Dorothy: Yes, you're right! *Note: The text appears to advance here, but then Dorothy's bubble closes. Clarine [spoiler=Support C]Clarine: Oh? You... Dorothy: Yes? Me? Clarine: Why do you dress yourself in men's clothes? Dorothy: Is that strange...? Clarine: Of course! A lady must wear elegant dresses. And a lady must be dressed properly even when she fights. Dorothy: Really...? I suppose you're right. I know nothing of such matters... Clarine: Hm... So I see. Well, I suppose I can teach you all that I know. Dorothy: What? N-no! Being ladylike doesn't suit me... Clarine: Don't be absurd! All ladies must be ladylike. No gentleman will even give you the time of day looking like that. Dorothy: D-do you think so...? Well...if you're serious...then all right! Please teach me, Lady Clarine! [spoiler=Support B]Clarine: So... Dorothy, what is your schedule like? Dorothy: I'm pretty busy even off the battlefield. I help cook meals and stuff... Clarine: What?! Leave such dirty jobs to that plebeian Merlinus fellow! Dorothy: P-plebeian? Sir Merlinus is plebeian? Clarine: How do you take care of your hair? Dorothy: I wash it with water. Clarine: What?! I don't believe this...! Here, use this shampoo. Wash your hair with it three times a day! Dorothy: Th-three times? But...it looks so expensive... I appreciate it, but I think it would be wasted on me. Clarine: None of that now! I am offering it to you. Please, take it. Dorothy: Oh... Well, thank you, I guess. Clarine: Additionally...you must change your speech patterns. Try to speak more like me, with a refined, elegant tone. Dorothy: Um... OK... My, such a beautifious day! Let us partake of the tea and of the crumpets. Like that? Clarine: ...This will take much work... First things first. You must learn how to take care of your hair, and how to choose your dresses, and how to dance properly, and how to turn down offers from men... Dorothy: That much?! Clarine: That is just to start. You mustn't give up! The path to becoming a refined lady is a difficult one indeed! Dorothy: Well... [spoiler=Support A]Dorothy: Um... Lady Clarine? Clarine: Yes? Dorothy: I've been trying really hard to be a lady, but... Nothing seems to have changed. No one seems to even notice. Maybe I should just give up... Clarine: My... Dorothy: I'm sorry! I know you were just trying to help me... But it's not your fault! There wasn't much to work with anyway... Clarine: Dorothy! That is exactly what's wrong with you! Dorothy: What? Clarine: Listen to me. A fine lady must have confidence in herself. No matter how you dress, without faith in yourself, it is completely and utterly without meaning. Do not devalue yourself so. Do you understand? Dorothy: Y-yeah, I think. Clarine: Have confidence in yourself! With me as your teacher, you will be the finest of ladies! Dorothy: ...Thank you, Lady Clarine... Clarine: ...One additional matter... We are friends now, are we not? Dorothy: Eh? Clarine: Don't call me "Lady" Clarine. Simply "Clarine" will do. Dorothy: Oh, right. OK. Thanks, Clarine! Clarine: ...Ahem! Today we shall cover how to drink tea! Dorothy: All right! Tell me everything you know! Aaaaand that's all for Chapter 5! Ch. 6's sole recruitable should be up tomorrow.

Dorothy: Your blockheadedness! *Saul flees* Yoder [spoiler=Support C]Yoder: Saul... Saul: Father Yoder... Do you need something from me? Yoder: No...but I thought we might talk a bit. Are you performing your duties as you should? Saul: Of course, Father Yoder. We get more followers every day thanks to my work. Please take a look at this list... Yoder: ...Hm. There seem to be an overwhelmingly large number of female names on this list. Saul: Well... You know. Yoder: Do I? Saul: Err... Women must understand my preaching better than gentlemen do. Yoder: Oh, I see. Very good. Saul: Yes, thank you. Yoder: Just remember, Saul, that your duty is to be a missionary. Not a womanizer. *leaves* Saul: ...... I can't beat him, can I...? [spoiler=Support B]Yoder: Saul, how is your mission coming along? Saul: Ah, yes. As I notified you in my letter, Lord Roy is in possession of the Fire Emblem now. Yoder: Has there been anyting [sic] else worth noting? Saul: No, not particularly. Yoder: I see... I am sorry to put you through all this, Saul. Saul: No, please don't be. I did it all for our loving Saint Elimine. Yoder: Yes, of course. You are a model priest. ...Oh, Saul. I have received a complaint from Sir Merlinus. Apparently you stalk Princess Guinivere wherever she goes... Saul: Yes, Father Yoder. That is my mission. Yoder: Saul, your mission is to keep an eye on the Fire Emblem. And you already told me that it is now in the hands of Lord Roy. Not Princess Guinivere. Saul: Yes, well, be that as it may, consider this, Father Yoder. I can't follow Lord Roy wherever he goes just because he has the Emblem. Stalking would go against my ethics. Yoder: ...Saul? [spoiler=Support A]Yoder: Saul, perhaps it is time to relieve you from your mission. Saul: What do you mean, Father Yoder? Yoder: I believe I know Lord Roy well enough to trust him. The Fire Emblem is safe in his hands. What we feared will surely not come to pass. Do you agree? Saul: You are probably right. ...However, I wish to continue my mission a little longer. Yoder: I see... Saul: Of course I understand what you are saying, Father Yoder. Lord Roy is certainly a trustworthy person. Still...I think that Lord Roy has yet to learn the ugliness of the world. I think that I know that ugliness more than other priests... Yoder: Saul... Saul: Well, I am still young and inexperienced, so disregard what I said if you will. Yoder: Yes, I think I will. ...Oh, Saul. I found this pamphlet the other day... Saul: Oh? This is... Yoder: "All wounds treated freely for members of the church. Sign up today!" This...treating the gods like some sort of commercial service. I do not approve of this at all... What will others think? Saul: ...... Yoder: ...Saul, will you listen to my preaching? Saul: Oh, Father Yoder, I'm not worthy to have the privilege of your... Yoder: ...Will you listen to my preaching? Saul: ...Yes, of course, Father Yoder... Cecilia [spoiler=Support C]Saul: Oh, dear gods above... To meet such a lovely woman... To be witness to this perfect work of beauty... Cecilia: Oh, you're Saul, right? Good day. Saul: ...... Oh... Er, yes, good day. Cecilia: I'm sorry, I was thinking, so I didn't hear what you said. Would you please repeat it for me? Saul: ...Erm... Sorry, I can't. Anyway, General Cecilia, seeing that we are both servants of the gods, might you be interested in having dinner with me some time? Cecilia: Oh, I'm sorry. I don't serve the gods like you do. Saul: Of course you do, milady. Everyone in the world serves the gods. Cecilia: Do you think so? Saul: Yes, absolutely. So should I make arrangements for dinner? Cecilia: I suppose I'll think about it. [spoiler=Support B]Saul: Ah, General Cecilia! Cecilia: Oh, Saul. Saul: To have the privilege of meeting you again... Your beauty is so overwhelming. It is an honor. Cecilia: Are you always like that? Saul: Yes, more or less. But my only goal is to make you feel at ease around me... Ah, yes! We must decide on a date for our dinner meeting. Have you thought about it? Cecilia: Dinner? Saul: Th-this cannot be! You've forgotten? We agreed that we all serve the gods in our own way, remember? Cecilia: Ah, yes... I think I can recall vaguely... Saul: Vaguely? Cecilia: I'm sorry. I'm busy with the battle. Saul: Oh... I see. Then I suppose it shall have to be another day. But please do not forget this time. Cecilia: Yes, I'll try not to. [spoiler=Support A]Saul: Ah! General Cecilia! Cecilia: Saul. Saul: I trust that you have thought about our dinner meeting? Cecilia: Oh, yes. I will invite you to the manor when the war ends. Saul: I will look forward to that! It is not every day that one is invited to the manor of an Etrurian noble. Cecilia: But you might want to bear in mind that my father can be...a little difficult. Saul: Difficult? What do you mean? Cecilia: Well, ordinarily my father is a very kind and caring man. However, one time, when I was still a child, I invited a male friend of mine to the manor. When my father saw him, he drew his sword and threatened his life. Saul: Uh... I would call that more than "difficult". Cecilia: My father lost his temper, and we tried to calm him down. But he would have none of it. The tea spilled everywhere, the table was sliced in two, and what was supposed to be a dinner party was more like an arena battle. My friend somehow escaped with his life. I will never forget that day. Saul: ...... Cecilia: But my father isn't that bad compared to my grandfather... Saul: Oh, I just remembered! I have some work at the church that I must attend to. I'm terribly sorry, but I don't believe I will ever be able to meet for dinner after all... *leaves* Cecilia: Oh? I was looking forward to it. Igrene [spoiler=Support C]Saul: Oh, dear gods... Igrene: What? Saul: That I can meet such a beautiful woman... I feel blessed this day. Igrene: ...Do you need something? Saul: Yes, as a matter of fact! ..Ah, [sic] before that... I am Saul. And you are, my perfect flower? Igrene: I am Igrene. So...what do you need? Saul: Ah, such a beautiful name, as I expected. Igrene... If I were to describe the pleasure of hearing such an elegant name-- Igrene: No, there is no need for that. What is it that you need? Saul: Do you know of the St. Elimine Church, Igrene? It is very popular among the nobility, because when one prays deeply, all of one's dreams come true! Igrene: Oh... That's what you want... I'm sorry, but I don't believe in the gods... Saul: Oh, but you must. If you don't follow the teachings of the church, you will be cursed! Igrene: ...The gods you follow would do that? Saul: Oh, no, I was just kidding around. How about we have dinner together one evening? Then I can teach you all about the gods' love... *Igrene leaves* Saul: Uh, Igrene? Where are you going? [spoiler=Support B]Saul: Ah, Igrene! Igrene: ...You again. Saul: It is truly a miracle that we could meet once more. Saint Elimine must have guided you towards me. Igrene: I don't think so. I'll be going now... Saul: Oh, please wait! It is a wonderful thing to believe, Igrene! Igrene: I know. I believed in gods once. Different from yours, though. I was quite devout. Saul: Really? Why did you stop believing? Igrene: Several years ago...I stopped praying. It was after I lost a loved one in battle. Saul: ...I see. Igrene: Those who pray to the gods expect something in return. But when they receive nothing, they cease to believe they exist. I think it's less trouble to never believe in the first place. Saul: ...... Yes... You may be right. Igrene: ...Should a priest like you really be saying that? Saul: Yes, it's fine. I am an open-minded person. However, Saint Elimine did say this: "When the gods don't help us, it is because they believe in us." Igrene: They...believe in us? Saul: Yes, I think they do. [spoiler=Support A]Igrene: Brother Saul. Saul: Oh, Igrene! What is the matter? Ah, you understand your feelings at last, and decided to see me... Igrene: It's about what you said before... You said when the gods don't help us it's because they believe in us. Saul: That is what Saint Elimine said. The gods who created this world are all-powerful. They can change people and the world. They can make humans docile so that we don't fight as we do now. But what would that achieve? Igrene: ...... Saul: Humans manipulated by the gods are nothing more than mindless puppets. The gods believe that humans can change, that we can learn from our mistakes. The gods know that we can overcome our hardships to achieve peace. Igrene: ...... I don't believe in the gods, but I respect what you say, Brother Saul. I must be off now... *leaves* Saul: Please, it is my pleasure to be of assistance. Now, shall we discuss our dinner meeting? ...Igrene? Where are you going? Elen [spoiler=Support C]Elen: Are you Brother Saul? I am Elen, a cleric of the St. Elimine Church in Bern. I am pleased to make your acquaintance. Saul: Dear gods, I thank you for your blessing... Elen: Um... Brother Saul? Saul: Truly, being able to meet such a beautiful lady is a blessing from the gods! And you are a follower of the St. Elimine Church, no less! This meeting must have been part of some divine plan. Please, let us meet this evening so that we can discuss the love of the gods. Elen: Yes, I would love to. What time can you meet? I am free all night... Saul: ...... Are you serious? Elen: I am always serious about the gods. Why would I refuse? Saul: ...If you accept so easily, there's no...satisfaction. Elen: Satisfaction? Saul: Oh! Please, never you mind. But Elen, are you sure? With a woman like you, I may lose control, and...do things. Elen: I'm not worried. You are a priest. I'm sure you would never do such a thing. Saul: ...Er... I'm sorry. Perhaps some other day. Elen: Oh... I was looking forward to it... [spoiler=Support B]Saul: Why, hello, Elen. Elen: Good day, Brother Saul. It is good to see you well. Saul: ...You are so tense, so stressed! You must relax your muscles. Elen: ...Do you think so? Saul: Absolutely. Those in service to the gods must learn to unwind once in a while. You should enjoy the finer things in life at times, as I do. Elen: Yes...but... Saul: I once knew a lady like you... Well, not "knew" so much as "was slapped by", but... If you serve the gods, you must experience all of their creation. You can experience things that will open your eyes... Things that you will not believe. Elen: Oh my, yes... * Saul: Life is all about the experiences we can have. Shall we discuss meeting this evening again? I am free at any time. Elen: That would be marvelous. I would love to hear you. Saul: Excellent. Then... Elen: I shall invite the others as well. Saul: ...Excuse me? The others? Elen: Oh, yes. If you will preach, then let us help as many as we can. I'll ask Lord Roy, Merlinus, and any others who are interested. I'm sure some of them will be free tonight. *leaves* Saul: ...... Dear me... What to do... *Note: The dialogue advances without a button prompt here. [spoiler=Support A]Elen: Brother Saul... Why didn't you come that night? Everyone was so looking forward to your preaching... Saul: Oh, er... My throat was unwell that day. We can try again some other time... Elen: Yes, let's. Brother Saul, you are so selfless. Saul: ...Selfless? Me? Elen: Oh, yes. You appear to be an impious womanizer. Hardly someone I would call a priest. Saul: ...... Elen: But I finally realized that there is a reason for that. It is a character act. It is to show that the St. Elimine Church accepts even the lowest of men. Saul: Ah... I, uh... Hmm. OK. Elen: Acting as you do ruins your reputation and image... Everyone thinks you're lazy and only interested in women... Saul: ...... Elen: But the truth is that you do it for the church. I could not sacrifice myself as you do. You have my respect, Brother Saul. Saul: Er... Thanks. I think. Well, anyway, just remember to relax once in a while. Elen: Yes, Brother Saul. The continuing adventures of a man who cannot win...
  3. RUTGER Clarine [spoiler=Support C]Clarine: Oh! We certainly do meet a lot. Rutger: ...You again? Clarine: You will address me as Lady Clarine. Rutger: ...... Clarine: I want to tell you something. Rutger: Yes? Clarine: It is about your appearance. Rutger: What? Clarine: You actually do have quite an attractive face. Of course, it is no comparison to my beloved brother Klain's, but for a commoner, you aren't entirely hideous. Rutger: ...... Clarine: I can use my Etrurian aesthetic sense to make you into a truly handsome noble... *Rutger leaves* Clarine: Oh! Wait! Where did he go? I was not finished speaking to him! I should have known he was nothing but a tramp! [spoiler=Support B]Clarine: There you are! I won't let you go this time! Rutger: ...Leave me be. Clarine: What? That is no way to respond to a lady's kindness! Rutger: You're getting on my nerves. Clarine: That is no way to talk to a lady... That...is not how a proper gentleman...should act... Rutger: ...... Clarine: ...... Rutger: ...All right, I'm sorry. Stop crying. Clarine: I-I'm not...! Rutger: ...... *leaves* Clarine: ...I know he is not to blame... So why am I acting this way...? [spoiler=Support A]Rutger: ...Hey. Clarine: Oh... Rutger: You dropped this. Clarine: What? Oh, my ribbon... Thank you for returning it to me. Rutger: ...... Clarine: Um... I just realized... I don't know your name... Might I trouble you to tell it to me? Rutger: ...Rutger. Clarine: Rutger... I never even thanked you for saving me... It is no wonder you don't like me... Rutger: ...... Clarine: I thank you for rescuing me in my time of need... I know it is far overdue, but I hope you will accept my thanks... Rutger: ...That's not like you. Clarine: What? Rutger: Don't try to be someone you're not. You're good at screaming, so stick with that. Clarine: Wh-what do you mean by that?! Rutger: That's it... That's you. Give me your company once in a while, Clarine. Make me smile. Clarine: !! *Rutger leaves* Clarine: Rutger... Dayan [spoiler=Support C]Rutger: You... You're the Silver Wolf... Dayan: You are a warrior of Sacae. What is your name? Rutger: Rutger. ...I was at Bulgar. Dayan: Bulgar... You survived. I heard that most of the people there were killed... Rutger: ...... That day... I learned that it is the strong who consume the weak in nature. That is true anywhere, be it Sacae...or Bern! Dayan: Then...is that the reason you are here? To become strong and take your revenge on Bern...? Rutger: ...... [spoiler=Support B]Dayan: Rutger. You fight for revenge. Rutger: ...... Dayan: What will you do once you have vengeance? Rutger: ...... Dayan: I ask you once more... What do you plan to do after avenging your clan? Rutger: ...You don't need to know. Dayan: Will you...dedicate your life to revenge? Will you be happy with that? Rutger: ...... You want me to keep quiet, even after seeing my entire clan killed? ...You suffered the same as I have. You must understand. Dayan: That is not what I am saying. We are men of Sacae. Those who desecrate our land must pay. However...even if we do win this war and destroy Bern, the deceased will never return. Rutger: ...... Dayan: Revenge will not bring back that which you've lost. Rutger: ...... I know no other way to live. [spoiler=Support A]Dayan: Rutger. What will you do when the war is over? Do you have a place to go? Rutger: ...No. Dayan: As I thought. Would you join the Kutolah? Rutger: ...... Dayan: Our clan lost its battle, but its soul lives on. Once the war ends, we will gather in the plains once more. I think you could be a great help to us. Rutger: ...I don't accept charity. Dayan: It is not charity. I ask you because I have faith in your strength as a warrior. Rutger: ...... Dayan: Hm... A difficult person, I see. Then I shall say no more. But remember that if you ever change your mind, we will welcome you with open arms. Whatever happens to you...don't forget that. Rutger: ...... ...I won't. Deke [spoiler=Support C]Deke: Ack! Rutger: ...Good as ever, I see. Deke: ...Rutger... Stop trying to kill me from behind! I'd have a heart attack if I had to deal with you on a daily basis. Rutger: Ha... I'll get my sword through your back one day. Deke: OK, I get it, we hated each other when we were on different sides. But why do you want to slice me in half now that we're in the same army? Rutger: The others bore me. I need someone of your strength to duel. Deke: So you're gonna kill me all because you're bored. Fantastic. Rutger: As if you've ever let my sword cut you... Deke: I can't be on guard all the time! I don't wanna die! Rutger: Yeah. I'll get you next time. *leaves* Deke: What a guy... [spoiler=Support B]Deke: ...... *Deke notices Rutger watching him* Deke: Hey! I told you to cut that out! You don't know when to quit...! Rutger: *reveals himself* ...... Deke: Hm...? You seem to be in a bad mood. Did something happen? Rutger: ...... Deke: Lemme guess... You spotted a personal enemy in Bern's ranks? Rutger: ! Deke: Bullseye. Why are you taking it out on me? Rutger: ...I saw the man who led the attack on my hometown of Bulgar. But when I reached him...he was already dead. You defeated him, Deke. Those swords [sic] marks... It had to be you. Deke: ...Sorry. Had I known, I would have left him to you. Rutger: ...This is a battlefield. Enemies don't belong to anybody. Deke: Rutger... Seriously, take it easy once in a while. Rutger: ...... *leaves* Deke: You can't live life on edge all the time... [spoiler=Support A]Deke: Rutger, you all right? You don't look well. Rutger: ...I'm having trouble sleeping. Deke: Is it about the man who led the Bulgar attack? Rutger: ...No. Well...maybe. Even after seeing him dead, the nightmares still persist. In that attack...they spared me... The reason was because I...I didn't look Sacaen. Deke: Tough to kill someone with the same face. But you do have Sacaen blood in you, don't you? Rutger: Yes. My father's mother and my mother's father were Sacaen. Bulgar is near Bern's border, so many people of mixed blood lived there. Usually the Sacaen blood shows itself more prominently. But... But I was different. I appear to be of Bern, so I was left alive... The people of Bulgar...were kind to me, even though I looked different... But they...they were all killed, and so brutally! I must raze the entirety of the Kingdom of Bern to the ground...! One man isn't enough to satisfy my revenge... Deke: I always wondered if you had some story, but now it all makes sense... Hope you don't mind me tagging along. Rutger: Keep your sympathy! Deke: Come on. You know how strong I am. If you really want to take on Bern, what better ally is there than me? What do you say? Rutger: ...Do as you will. Deke: And I will. Let's go, partner! *leaves* Rutger: Deke... I'm sorry. Karel [spoiler=Support C]Rutger: ! Karel: You noticed me at this distance? Very impressive. Rutger: ...Karel the Sword Saint. Karel: You know of me? I am honored. Rutger: ...Everyone who wields the sword knows your name. Karel: Yes, well, I traveled a lot in my youth. Rutger: ...Why are you in this army? Karel: My family is here, so I joined as well. I only hope I'm not too rusty. Rutger: Rusty? Surely you jest. Karel: No, it is no jest. I'm sure I can't hold a candle to you younger ones. Rutger: ...... *leaves* Karel: ...Interesting fellow. [spoiler=Support B]Karel: Please wait a moment. Rutger: ...What do you want? Karel: I am looking for a sparring partner. Would you care to practice with me? Rutger: ...No. Karel: Why not? Am I unworthy of sparring with you? Rutger: Your sword is not soaked red... I pursue a different path. Karel: Perhaps you think so now, but we both follow the way of the sword... All paths of the sword lead to the same destination. Rutger: ...... [spoiler=Support A]Karel: ...Do you need something, Rutger? Rutger: I want to ask you something. Karel: Yes? Rutger: I sense no hatred from your sword... You seem to blend with the air when you attack. Even the heaviest, strongest blades can't be one with the air... Your sword bests them all. I want to be stronger. If all paths of the sword lead to one place, will I someday be able to blend with the air as you do? Karel: ...You're from Sacae, aren't you? Rutger: ...Yes. Karel: I was born in Sacae as well. I grew up under the eye of our Father the Sky and our Mother the Earth. They are the only ones within my blade. Rutger: I'm not pure Sacaen... I can't sense them like you do... Karel: Could you hear them when you were young? Rutger: !! Karel: You were able to hear the Sky and the Earth once. Your hate deafens your ears. Rutger: ...Do you think I will be able to hear them when this war ends? Karel: Of course you will. The breeze that blows through the plains... It never forgets those it loves. Fir [spoiler=Support C]Fir: ...Um... Uh, excuse me, are you Rutger? Rutger: ...What do you want? Fir: I was wondering if you would spar with me, if we get the chance. Rutger: ...... Fir: I've been training my skills and I've won at many arenas around Elibe. So you don't have to go easy on me! Rutger: ...I won't spar with you. Fir: Why not? Is it because I'm a woman? Rutger: ...I swing my sword to kill. I have no interest in using the blade for play. Fir: Play?! *Rutger leaves* Fir: W-wait...! ...He thinks of sparring as "play"? I was hoping to learn from him. His blade is sharp and he has no hesitation in his eyes... [spoiler=Support B]Fir: Rutger! We fight! Rutger: ...Get out of my way. Fir: No. I will not move until you understand that I am serious. Draw your sword! I train myself seriously. I will not tolerate you calling my training mere "play". I want to become stronger, so I want to learn from you. Rutger: ...I told you that I use my sword to kill. Fir: Yes, I know. But my... Rutger: If I draw my blade here, you will die. Is that your wish? Fir: ...! Rutger: You don't intend to kill me, do you? Fir: Well, no... Rutger: That's why your training is play. Fir: ...... Rutger: ...... *leaves* Fir: ...I just... ...Maybe I was being rude. I should apologize the next time I see him. [spoiler=Support A]Fir: Rutger. Wait, please don't glare at me like that... I'm not here to fight. Rutger: ...... Fir: But your skills are impressive. I want to reach your level. All I want is to be as strong as you... Rutger: ...Just be yourself. Fir: What? Rutger: My blade is soaked in blood. Our paths differ too greatly for you to learn from me. Fir: ...... A great man once told me, "All paths of the sword lead to the same destination." I don't know if that's true, but I can tell you've gone down one of those paths. I still have much to learn, so I... Rutger: ...Think what you will. And that does it for Chapter 4! We're halfway through the Lycia arc already...
  4. CLARINE Klain [spoiler=Support C]Clarine: Eeek! Klain! Klain: W-what's wrong, Clarine?! Clarine: You look absolutely stunning in that outfit! Klain: ...That's all? And here I was wondering what kind of danger you were in... Clarine: My dear brother Klain! Everyone is so aesthetically handicapped in this army! You are a lone diamond shining in the rough! Klain: You only think so because we're family... Clarine: I do not! There are none in this world who can match your beauty. Knight General Perceval may have more authority, but you clearly have superior sense in beauty! Klain: ...Clarine, a lady shouldn't verbalize such things. Clarine: I only say what is true. Klain: ...Clarine. Clarine: But if that's what you think, Brother, I will try. Klain: Good. [spoiler=Support B]Klain: Clarine, come here. Clarine: Oh, Klain? How do you fare today? Klain: Not well, I'm afraid. Clarine: Is something wrong? Klain: Is it true that you spoke harshly to a cleric and made her cry yesterday? Clarine: Absolutely not. I did not make her cry. She is the one who chose to cry. Klain: But she cried because of what you said to her. Clarine: It was her fault! She was trying to keep you for herself. Klain: What do you mean? Clarine: ...She healed your wounds before I got the chance. Klain: Clarine! Clarine: I wanted to heal your injuries so you would be proud of me! All I want is to be of some help to you, Brother... Klain: ...I was proud of you. I was so glad that my naive little sister had grown up so much... But now that you've done this, I don't know what to think anymore... Clarine: I-I'll never do it again! Please don't hate me, Klain! Klain: Don't be ridiculous. I could never hate you. Clarine: Oh, thank you, Klain! [spoiler=Support A]Klain: What's wrong, Clarine? You look sad. Clarine: I...I don't want to go back to the manse after the war... Klain: Why not? Mother and Father anxiously await our return. Clarine: I do want to see Mother and Father... But if I return to the manse, I will be nothing but a doll once more. Never again to see the outside world, concerned only with decorating myself... Klain: Well, that is how most Etrurian ladies are. Clarine: Yes, I know... But being the most elegant in Etruria does not seem as appealing as it once did. Klain: That's because you're growing and maturing, Clarine. If you stay at the manse, you could live your life without any worries. Clarine: But it would be so horribly boring! Klain: Yes, indeed... All right, here's what we will do. Once this war is over, we will first let Mother and Father know we are safe. Clarine: Of course. Klain: From there we can discuss your future and what you want to do. Clarine: Oh, I already know what I want to do! Klain: Do you? Clarine: I will become Mage General like General Cecilia! Klain: Err... Are you serious? Clarine: Of course! As Mage General, I will give you, the new Archer General, my full support. Then we shall be together always! Klain: Clarine... Let's be realistic... Clarine: Oh, how wonderful it would be for us both to wear that elegant general uniform... Klain: Clarine... You haven't grown at all. Clarine: Did you say something? Klain: No. Never mind. Rutger [spoiler=Support C]Clarine: Oh! Deke [spoiler=Support C]Clarine: Excuse me, would you mind sitting still? I'm trying to heal your wounds for you... Deke: What's a kid like you doing on the battlefield? Clarine: !! Deke: Are you lost? Where are your parents? Clarine: !!! Watch your tongue! Have you any idea who-- Deke: Yeah, you're high rank nobility, right? That's no reason for you to be here, though. Clarine: !!! Filthy peasant...! Listen and be dumbstruck! I am Lady Clarine of House Reglay of Etruria! Deke: What? Then you're Lord Pent's daughter... Clarine: You know my father? Deke: And Klain's little sister... Clarine: You know Klain, too?! Who...are you...? Deke: Never mind. Forget it. Clarine: I shall NOT forget it! Deke: Clarine, was it? Be careful out there. *leaves* Clarine: What?! Wait! ...Who is he...? [spoiler=Support B]Clarine: ...I told you to speak! Who are you? Keeping quiet is of no benefit, but talking will put you in my good graces! Deke: Do you ever shut your mouth? Seriously, let me be, kid... Clarine: You will address me as Lady Clarine! Deke: Whatever. Listen, "Lady" Clarine. Try doing something other than tailing me everywhere. You might actually be useful for once in your life. Clarine: Foul man...! Deke: I'm foul, all right. Probably best just to avoid me. Clarine: ...You are manipulating me. I will not be driven away so easily. Deke: Yikes, there's nothing attractive about you at all. You say you're Lady Louise's daughter? I don't believe it. Clarine: That's it! My family! I want to ask you about my brother! Deke: Dang, you saw right past the insult! You're catching on, kid... Clarine: You will address me as Lady Clarine! *Deke leaves* Clarine: Wait! Wait, I say! [spoiler=Support A]Deke: ...All right, you win. I'll tell you. Just stop following me everywhere I go... Clarine: Finally, you see reason. Please go ahead. Start at the beginning. Deke: It's not really a long story or anything... I just used to work for your family as an arena combatant. Clarine: Are...are you Deke, by chance? Deke: Uh, yeah. You didn't even know my name? Clarine: Truly?! I always wanted to meet the noble Deke! Deke: What are you talking about? Clarine: You saved my brother's life! Deke: Who told you? Clarine: Everyone! My father, my mother, my brother himself... I grew up hearing about the great man named Deke. Deke: ...... Clarine: I was still in the cradle when you left... I always regretted not being able to meet you. But finally, here you are! Deke: OK, yeah... So now you've seen me. Satisfied? Clarine: I am. Deke: Good. Then you'll stop hovering over me wherever I go. Clarine: Oh, no, I'll follow you to the ends of the continent! Deke: Anything but that... Clarine: You saved my brother's life. I owe you a debt of gratitude. I want to hear all about my brother. Oh, you could regale me with tales for hours... Deke: ...Maybe I could, but I won't. *leaves* Clarine: Oh! Wait, Deke! Come back! I'll never let you go! Lance [spoiler=Support C]Clarine: Oh? And you are...? Lance: Ah, you must be Lady Clarine of House Reglay. I am Lance, knight of Pherae. We are honored to have someone of your stature among us. I apologize for any impudence you may have experienced from the men. The soldiers are simply a bit anxious because of this war. Clarine: Oh... Yes, consider them forgiven. I don't often grant favors like this so easily. Consider it an honor! Lance: Yes, I thank you, milady. Now, let me take your hand... Clarine: My... So civil and gentlemanly! For a country knight, that is. Lance: I am honored. Clarine: O-of course, your manners are nothing compared to our knights back home. Lance: Please forgive my breeding, milady. [spoiler=Support B]Clarine: Lance. Lance: Lady Clarine. Is there anything I can do for you? Clarine: As the daughter of House Reglay, I order you to serve as my bodyguard henceforth. Lance: But-- Clarine: In truth, you are a bit on the feeble side... But I don't have many knights to choose from, so you will do. You must stay by my side and defend me at all times. Understood? Lance: If Lord Roy orders it, it will be done. Clarine: But... I'm ordering it! Me! Lance: If I may object, milady, I cannot follow your orders directly. A knight must serve his lord, and only his lord. One who fails in that is no longer a knight. Clarine: I...I knew that! I was merely testing your knightly integrity! Lance: Yes, milady. Forgive me. Clarine: Y-yes, well, you passed my test. Stand proud, knight! [spoiler=Support A]Clarine: Lance! Lance: Yes, Lady Clarine? Clarine: Even if you are not mine to order... Are we not a lady and knight? Lance: Indeed we are, milady. Clarine: In-indeed... As such, I hereby permit you to kiss my hand. Lance: Thank you, milady. Clarine: Lance, I don't want you to misunderstand. The kissing of my hand is a symbol of the difference in our status. There is no more meaning to it than that! Lance: Yes, of course, milady. Clarine: Yes... Of course... You're not...disappointed...? Lance: Did you say something, milady? Clarine: N-no! Nothing! Back to your duties, knight! Dorothy [spoiler=Support C]Clarine: Oh?
  5. LUGH Raigh [spoiler=Support C]Lugh: Raigh! Raigh! Can you hear me, Raigh? Raigh: ...Yes, I can hear you. You don't have to shout like that. ...What do you want? Lugh: Here. That's your share. Raigh: Hm? What are these? Lugh: Baked tarts. The man who delivers extra meals gave me some extra ones. They look good, don't they? Raigh: ...Sweets... They're hard to find nowadays. Savor them and eat them for yourself. Lugh: It's no fun if I eat them alone. Let's eat them together a little later. Anyway, I have to go now. *leaves, but soon returns* Oh, one more thing. You should at least respond when you're spoken to! I don't mind that much, but strangers might get ideas. They might think that you're antisocial or something. *leaves again* Raigh: Well, they'd be right. ...But whatever. My dear brother is as naive as ever. [spoiler=Support B]Lugh: Raigh! Raigh: ...What? Lugh: Are you doing all right? Raigh: What do you mean, "all right"? Lugh: I was a little worried that you'd left again. The first time was so sudden. You just left a note and disappeared. I thought you might have walked off again without a word... Raigh: ...Lugh. Lugh: Your note said you wanted to train your dark magic skills alone. Was I...in your way? You didn't want me around...? Raigh: N-no, that's not it... I always planned to come back once I became a powerful shaman. Lugh: I knew it, Raigh! I knew you'd come back for the children! Raigh: What? No, that's not-- Lugh: I'm so relieved! You haven't changed at all. You're still the kind-hearted Raigh I know and love. I'll go pray! I'm going to thank the gods for letting me see you again! *leaves* Raigh: Uh... Bye, I guess? ...Sigh... Why is he like that? [spoiler=Support A]Raigh: Lugh, I need to tell you something. Lugh: What is it, Raigh? Raigh: I...I'm sorry I left the orphanage without saying anything. I...uh...I want to apologize for that... Lugh: It's all right now. I understand. Raigh: A-and one more thing! I'll never disappear without telling you again! Lugh: Great. Raigh: So will you stop hovering around me all the time? Come on. Please!! Lugh: ...Do you dislike being near me? Raigh: Er... N-no, not exactly, but... Lugh: Then what's the problem? Who knows if we'll still be together when we grow up? Raigh: ...Lugh? Lugh: If... If I don't make it through this war, promise me you'll pick up the children at the St. Elimine Church. Raigh: Don't say that. We'll both survive. Lugh: Yeah... You're right. Something's wrong with me today. Raigh: I won't let you die. You're my brother. My only brother. Lugh: Thanks, Raigh. Chad [spoiler=Support C]Lugh: Chad! There you are. Chad: Something smells good... Lugh: Here you go. That's your share. Chad: Wow, baked tarts! Where'd you get these? Lugh: The man who delivers our meals gave me some extra ones. Chad: ...They look so good... Can I really have them? Lugh: Of course. Chad: All right! Thanks! ...They taste as good as they look. Lugh: Ha ha! Chad: What? Lugh: Oh, sorry. It's just that you always look so happy when you're eating. Chad: I do? Lugh: Yeah. You look so peaceful. I'm almost envious. Chad: W-what the...? Don't make fun of me. I-I'll be going now. Thanks for the food! *leaves* Lugh: Ha ha, I wasn't making fun of you. It's nothing to be embarrassed of. [spoiler=Support B]Chad: Lugh! Here. Lugh: What? Oh, a new pair of shoes? Where did you get these? Chad: I didn't steal them, all right? The other day I came across an old lady who lost her key, so I helped her out and she gave me these shoes as thanks. Lugh: Then why don't you wear them? She gave them to you, not me. Chad: No, it's all right. My shoes aren't as beat up as yours, and besides, they're a little small for me anyway. Lugh: But we're the same size. If they're small for you, they must be small for me, too. Chad: J-just take them! I'm older, so my feet are a little bigger than yours! Lugh: What? That's not how it works! Chad: Of course it is! End of story. Just take the shoes, all right? See you. *leaves* Lugh: Chad! ...Thanks. [spoiler=Support A]Lugh: Chad! What's wrong? Is something on your mind? Chad: Lugh... I was just thinking that we've been in this army for a while now. I wonder how the children are doing... Lugh: Yeah, I wonder. I hope they're being good for the Elimine priests... Chad: I wonder if they're waiting for us to return... Lugh: ...I'm sure they are. We're family. Chad: I've got to say... I'm glad you came. Lugh: Oh? Do you finally think I'm strong enough? Chad: I already knew that you were strong... Lugh: Then what? Chad: How can I say this...? Your twin brother, Raigh. I always felt I was the odd one out when we three were together. Lugh: Don't be ridiculous! You're family to me, just as much as Raigh is! Chad: Yeah, I know! I know better now. I was just creating a wall around myself. But now I know that you're family. Lugh: ...OK, I'll let it slide. You're my older brother, even if you are...a little childish. Chad: What?! Get back here, Lugh! Lugh: Ha ha ha ha! Elen [spoiler=Support C]Lugh: Sister! I got the medicine and cloth you asked for from Merlinus. Elen: Thank you. Could you leave them there, please? Lugh: Here? If you'll excuse me, I have to get going. Elen: Wait! Lugh: Yes? Elen: Are you an assistant to the transporter? Lugh: No, I fight as well. Elen: What? A child like you...in battle? Lugh: I may be a kid, but I'm pretty handy with my magic! Elen: No, I don't doubt your ability... It's just...children shouldn't be on the battlefield. Lugh: I'm only about two years younger than Lord Roy, though. Elen: Lord Roy...has no choice but to be here. That is not the case for you. Lugh: No, I have no choice, either. I must fight. Elen: But...! Lugh: Thanks for the concern, but I'm fine. Actually, there's someplace I need to be right now. See you later, Sister! *leaves* Elen: ...... [spoiler=Support B]Elen: Do you have a moment? Lugh: Oh, you're the cleric from before! Elen: My name is Elen. Lugh: And I am Lugh. Elen: You really do fight on the battlefield... Are you all right? You're not injured? Lugh: I'm fine. I may be small, but I'm pretty fast. Elen: Lugh... I'm still uneasy about allowing such a small child into battle... Lugh: Do I look so small? But if that's how you want to play it, then isn't it just as dangerous to send a frail lady like you into battle? Elen: That...may be true, but... Lugh: Yep! So if you're ever in danger, I'll come to your rescue. You can count on me! Elen: All right, Lugh. Please don't do anything rash. [spoiler=Support A]Lugh: *runs up to Elen* Sister Elen! Elen: Lugh? What's wrong? Lugh: I-I thought I saw an enemy near you... Huff, huff... But I guess I was wrong. Thank goodness. Elen: You were looking out for me? Thank you. Lugh: Of course! I said I would protect you. Elen: You have such a kind heart... I am sure the gods look favorably upon you. Lugh: ...That smile makes you look like a goddess! Elen: A goddess? Me? Lugh: Actually, I was worried about you because you always looked so pensive. Not that I can really blame you given the war and all... But I feel so much better when you smile like that! Elen: I feel better when I see your smile too, Lugh. Hugh [spoiler=Support C]Hugh: Oh... H-hey. You're Lugh, right? I, uh, I'm sorry I mistook you for your brother the other day... Lugh: No, Hugh, it's all right. We're twins, so no one can really tell us apart anyway. Hugh: Oh man, I'm really sorry, though. I can't believe I just lost it and grabbed you by the collar like that. I'm a terrible person. Lugh: ...But it was Raigh's fault for running off with your spell tome. I should be apologizing to you. Hugh: No, never mind that. It was my fault for letting my guard down anyway. Lugh: But... ...... Yeah, you're right, never mind. That whole business let us meet each other, so it's not that bad. Hugh: Yeah! We're both mages, so let's help each other along! Lugh: Yeah, actually, I was hoping that you would teach me some things. [spoiler=Support B]Lugh: Hugh! Are you all right? Hugh: Huh? What do you mean? Lugh: Your elbow's bleeding! We have to wrap it... Hugh: Oh, I got hit in that last fight. Don't worry about it. It's no big deal. Lugh: Yes it is! You can't leave a wound like that alone.. [sic] Hugh: Lugh? You look a little pale... Lugh: ...I've lost enough people I care about already. ...I'll treat your wound. Hugh: ...... All right, thanks. [spoiler=Support A]Hugh: Lugh, about before... Lugh: I'm sorry! You said you were all right, but I just ignored you and... I'm sure you don't like it when kids act like they know more than you... Hugh: Don't be ridiculous. Don't apologize for helping me. Lugh: But you seemed to be avoiding me, so I thought you were mad... Hugh: ...I was embarrassed, that's all. Lugh: What? Why? Hugh: Because... No one ever cared for me that much my whole life... My grandmother raised me, but she's a real kook. She's given me injuries way worse than this one, but she never once used her staves to heal me! I was just happy to have someone concerned about me for a change... Thanks, man. You're my new best friend. Lugh: Of course, Hugh! Let's be friends forever!! Milady [spoiler=Support C]Milady: Whew... Sorry to work you so hard, Triffinne... Good girl. Lugh: *approaches Milady* Wow! A wyvern! Wow, it's so big! Is this wyvern yours? Will it get angry if I touch it? Milady: No, go ahead. She's a gentle one. Lugh: Wow, such hard scales... Her fangs are so sharp too! Amazing... Are you a wyvern rider? Milady: Yes, I am. Lugh: Really?! I thought only Bern had wyvern riders! Milady: ! Lugh: They say Bern's wyvern riders are unbeatable, so I was a little nervous... But they're nothing if we have wyvern riders on our side, too! I want to defeat Bern, but I'm not very good with my magic yet, so I can't do all that much on my own... Milady: ...... Lugh: Oh... I better get going. See you later! Thanks for letting me pet your wyvern. Milady: Yes... See you... [spoiler=Support B]Lugh: Hello! Can I give this to your wyvern? Milady: ...Hello. What are those? Lugh: I got some extra baked tarts, so I wanted to give some to the wyvern. Oh wait, do wyverns even eat food like this? Milady: You love them, don't you, Triffinne? Thank you. Lugh: She's called Triffinne? Can I call her that, too? Milady: Of course. Lugh: Here you go, Triffinne. Eat up. Good, aren't they? Milady: ...What is your name? Lugh: Me? I'm Lugh from Lycia. What's your name? Where are you from? Milady: I'm Milady. ...I come from Bern. Lugh: !!! ...You're joking, right? Milady: I'm sorry. I couldn't get myself to say it sooner... Lugh: ...... *leaves* Milady: Wait! Lugh! ...I know it was inevitable, but still... I'm sorry, Triffinne. Just when you had made a little friend... [spoiler=Support A]Lugh: Hello, Madam Milady. Milady: Lugh! Lugh: ...I'm sorry I ran off like that before. Milady: No, it's all right. I'm glad you're speaking to me again. Lugh: I didn't want things to end like that. ...Will you listen to my story? Milady: Of course. Lugh: My parents died when I was four, and ever since then I'd been living at an orphanage in Lycia. It was tiny, with only seven kids and one priest who we all called Poppa. The oldest kids were Chad and my twin brother Raigh and I, so we three took care of the younger children. We were poor, but we were happy anyway. But after Bern started this war, our lives began to change. Food started getting scarce, and we sometimes had to resort to begging... Chad... He started stealing food without telling Poppa... Raigh got fed up with that lifestyle and left one day without a word. I hated... We all hated Bern. Bern was responsible for everything... Bern killed Poppa... I just wanted Bern to disappear. Milady: ...... Lugh: That's what I kept telling myself. ...Anger motivates better than sorrow... Anger has kept me alive... So that I can protect the children... ...Sigh... So...for now, at least until the war ends... I have to stay angry at Bern. ...But you're on our side, right? I don't have to hate you... Do I? Milady: It would make me so happy if you didn't hate me, Lugh. If you would let me, I'd even like to be...your friend. Lugh: Thank you, Madam Milady. That's it for Chapter 3's units! By the way, here's a question because I'm curious: what is your opinion on the possibility of Lugh and Raigh being Hugh's cousins?
  6. Thank you. I just hope something doesn't happen that makes me leave this incomplete somehow. Wouldn't do to leave everyone hanging in the lurch like that... CHAD Lugh [spoiler=Support C]Lugh: Chad! Raigh [spoiler=Support C]Chad: Hey! Raigh! Raigh: ...Chad. I don't recall summoning you. Chad: Look, I wouldn't be here if I didn't need to be. Raigh: What do you want? Chad: Roy... I mean Lord Roy wants to see us. Raigh: You think I care?! Chad: P-pipe down! Don't be so loud! That Merlinus guy'll be after us again! Raigh: You're afraid of that old geezer, aren't you? Chad: Well, sure. He and Lord Roy are nobles. Raigh: Ha ha. Little Chad bows down to nobles now, does he? Chad: Laugh if you like. But let me say this. Nobility don't like to be opposed. Lord Roy doesn't seem like he would anger too easily, but I don't know about the others. Raigh: ...... Chad: I don't want to see the people I care about get hurt. I know you're proud of that mouth of yours, but unless you want to be killed, keep it shut. ...I'm going. You better come, too. *leaves* Raigh: ...... [spoiler=Support B]Raigh: ...Hey. Chad: ...What? Raigh: You still steal, don't you? Chad: I've got no choice. I can't use magic like you. My only use in this army is picking locks and gathering intel... Raigh: No, I think it's invaluable. Chad: What? Raigh: The other day when we went to see that Roy fellow... He said he appreciated our work because we're close to his age. But you humbled yourself the whole time, belittling your work. Chad: Yeah? And? Raigh: You do something no one else can. Have some pride in it. You look stupid when you put yourself down. Chad: ...Uh, are you trying to cheer me up? Raigh: D-don't be ridiculous! Why would I ever want to cheer you up?! Chad: Yeah, I thought so. Good, you had me worried for a second. Raigh: ...Fine! I'm leaving! Chad: Hey! What's your problem? [spoiler=Support A]Chad: Hey! Raigh: ...... Chad: Don't ignore me. I need to talk to you. Raigh: About what? Chad: What are you planning to do when the war ends? Raigh: ...You first. Chad: I'll go see the children. Then I'll try and get enough money to rebuild the orphanage. Raigh: Then I'll go with you. I can help out until the kids have a home at least. Chad: ...I thought you would. Raigh: What? Chad: I knew you had a heart deep down inside. Raigh: Wh--?! Chad: Lugh always said you were a kind boy. I used to think he only defended you because you're brothers, but I guess not. Your brother knows the real you. Raigh: ...You're just as naive as Lugh! Say what you will! I'm leaving! *leaves* Chad: Hah, there's no need to be embarrassed... Hey! Wait! You're actually leaving?! Cath [spoiler=Support C]Cath: *runs up to Chad* Hey. Chad: Whoa! Who are you? Cath: You've got talent. Chad: OK, so who are you? Cath: ...You don't know me? I'm Cath, Master Thief! Chad: ...Who? Cath: ...Stupid, ignorant... I'm a better thief than you. You're below me. You should be begging me for tips. Chad: I don't think so. I learned how to steal all on my own, and I'm gonna keep it that way. Cath: No, you won't get any further like that. I guess I can take you under my wing. Show you the ropes. Since you insist. Chad: Wait, when did I-- Cath: Now you're my first apprentice. You must do my bidding. Chad: Why should I?! Cath: I know one good reason. Isn't this your bag? Chad: H-hey! When did you...?! Give it back! [spoiler=Support B]Chad: Hey! Cath: Oh, it's you. Chad: Give me back my bag! Now! Cath: Easy there, fella. Here ya go. Chad: ...... Cath: What are those sketches? Who is that? Chad: Poppa... Not my real father, but close enough. Cath: ...You're an orphan. Chad: ...I wasn't the brightest student, but Poppa always praised my drawings. He said I had nimble fingers and that I could be an artist someday... Cath: ...... I see... ...... ...... Argh! Now things are awkward. I like it positive. You should too, Firsty. Chad: What do you mean by "Firsty"? Cath: That's you. You're my first apprentice, remember? Chad: I never agreed to that! [spoiler=Support A]Cath: Hey, Firsty. How ya been? Chad: ...Fine. Cath: I've been watching you. You seem to be improving. You're still nowhere near my level, though. Of course. Chad: Yeah, whatever. I'm not your apprentice. Cath: Hey, wait. If not my apprentice, then how about my partner? Chad: ...Partner? Cath: Yeah. We could be partners. The fabled pair of thieves out to save the poor! Sounds pretty cool, huh? Chad: Partners... ...Sounds stupid. No thanks. *leaves* Cath: What? Wait a minute! I'm Cath, Master Thief! You should be honored! Come back here! Elen [spoiler=Support C]Chad: Sister! Wait! Wait, please! Elen: Sorry, do you mean me? Chad: Yeah. Sorry I yelled... But I need to ask you something. Elen: I will help you if I can. Chad: OK, well, unless I'm wrong, one of these herbs is medicinal, right? Vulneraries are made from one of these, aren't they? Elen: Yes, this one has medicinal properties. I'm surprised you knew that. Chad: Poppa taught us at the orphanage I used to live in. Elen: He sounds like a good man. Chad: Yeah, he sure was! Well, I need to hurry with this herb. Elen: Do you? Is someone hurt? Chad: Yeah, a traveler was hit by a stray arrow. It's not a large wound, but the bleeding won't stop. Elen: My healing staff will be more effective than the herb. Can you show me to this traveler? Chad: Really?! You'll help him out?! Elen: Of course. Chad: Let's hurry! This way! [spoiler=Support B]Chad: Sister Elen! Elen: Hello, Chad. Chad: Thanks for your help before. The traveler made a full recovery. He wanted me to thank you. Elen: I only did what anyone would have. Chad: No way! I've never met anyone willing to use a pricy healing staff on a commoner. Elen: What? Chad: Only those with the St. Elimine Church treat commoners with staves. And even then, it's only when the wound is lethal or something. Elen: ...Really? Chad: Yeah, at least that's how it is in the Lycian countryside where I grew up. But that's why we learned how to use herbs and things. ...At least until Bern invaded. Elen: ...I...see. Chad: Whoa! S-sorry, I didn't mean to make you feel down or anything... Elen: It's not your fault... I just can't believe... I can't believe my...home country would start this war... Chad: ...Sister Elen, are you...? Elen: Yes. I...come from Bern. Chad: !! ...... *leaves* Elen: Chad! Wait! ...Chad. [spoiler=Support A]Elen: ...Chad. Chad: ! Elen: Wait! Don't go! Please... Listen to me. Chad: ...... Elen: My country started this war. So I understand...if you resent a person of Bern like me... Chad: ...... Elen: But why? I see no hatred in your eyes. Only sorrow. Chad: ! Elen: Would you...tell me about it? I think it may release some of the burden on your shoulders... Chad: ...... ...Poppa...the father of our orphanage...He was killed by Bern's soldiers... We had a little garden where we grew food. The soldiers... They trampled it with their horses because...because they said it was in the way. It was a tiny garden with nothing but roots, and yet they still... Elen: Then...Poppa was killed protecting the garden? Chad: Yeah... It may have been just a bunch of roots...but it was our food. Elen: Chad, you can cry... If you feel sad, let it out. Chad: ...I was the oldest of the orphans, so I can't cry. The little kids and my best friend Lugh... They went into shock seeing Poppa killed before their eyes. It was my job to take care of them. I don't want to lose any more family... That's why I fight. Elen: You're strong. Chad: My hatred for Bern fuels my strength... The drive to avenge Poppa and protect all the orphans... That was my purpose in life. It felt just! Elen: Do you hesitate now? Chad: ...I hated everyone from Bern. I thought they only cared about themselves. ...Until I met you. Elen: Chad... I'm on your side. Regardless of my home...I want to help you. Do you hate me...? Chad: ...I don't know. Elen: Then I'll stay at your side, Chad. I can't replace Poppa... But the least I can do is be there for you. Chad: ...Have it your way! Elen: Thank you, Chad. Hugh [spoiler=Support C]Chad: Hey! Are you Hugh? Hugh: Huh? So what if I am, kid? Chad: ...Is it true that you're a moneylender? Hugh: Maybe. Why? Chad: I want to borrow 3,000 gold. Hugh: Well, you're out of luck, kid. I only lend money to grown-ups. Especially to lovely ladies. Chad: ...Oh. All right, I'll ask someone else then. Hugh: Hey, hey, hey, slow down there. Have a little more persistence, kid. You can't give up so easily. Chad: But you only lend money to adults, don't you? Hugh: Well, if you insist, I can make an exception for you. But your interest will be twice the normal rate. Chad: I thought you'd say something like that. ...But fine. Let me borrow the money. I'll give it back when we get paid. Hugh: One, two, three. Here you go, 3,000 gold. Chad: Thanks. See you later. *leaves* Hugh: Remember, it's 4,000 after interest! ...How could I turn him down after he looked at me like that? This is why I hate kids... [spoiler=Support B]Chad: Hey! Here's the money I owe you. Hugh: One, two, three, four. Yup, that's 4,000. I haven't seen you around lately so I thought you ran off with it. Chad: I keep my promises. What kind of person doesn't? Hugh: You'd be surprised. You're an honest kid. You sure you chose the right career? Chad: Stop calling me "kid". My name is Chad. Hugh: All right, Chad. So tell me, why'd you become a thief? Chad: ...Stealing's the only way I could live. I'm an orphan. Hugh: Did you live alone? Chad: No, I lived in a small orphanage in Lycia near the border to Bern. I grew up with other orphans. We did pretty well. Poppa and the other kids and me... ...If this war hadn't broken out, I'd still be there. Hugh: ...... Chad: Poppa was a good man, but he could only keep the orphanage running through charity. After the war started we began to run low on food and clothes. I was the oldest of the orphans, but I couldn't find any work. So the only way to get food was to steal. Hugh: Then I'm guessing you sent that 3,000 gold to the orphanage... Chad: No. ...The orphanage isn't there anymore. Hugh: What?! Chad: Poppa was killed by Bern's troops and the place was burned down... Hugh: W-what about the children? Were they spared? Chad: Thanks to Poppa, yeah. None of us were hurt. The children are with the St. Elimine Church now. Hugh: ...... Chad: I used the money to buy a strong sword. I'm going to use it to end this war quickly. Then I can go back to the children! Hugh: So the kids are family to you. You want to protect them. Chad: That's right. I've got nothing else. You got a problem with that? Hugh: Not at all... I'm sorry I was so rude with you before. You've already grown up, Chad. You're certainly more of an adult than I am. [spoiler=Support A]Hugh: Hey! Chad! Have you been doing well? Chad: Yeah, I guess. But not as well as you. Hugh: Man, are you always such a downer? Can't you be more like, "Hey, Hugh! What's up?" And smile for a change. Chad: ...I think I'd vomit if I tried to do that. Hugh: Aw, come on! Your story really made me think. I want to help you! Chad: ...Are you really a mage, old man? You seem more like some kind of jester or something. Hugh: O-old man?! Does this handsome face look like it belongs to an "old man"?! Chad: Yeah. Well, compared to mine, anyway. Hugh: Ugh! Daggers through my heart! ...I take personal offense to "old man". Seriously, you can call me anything. Smelly, messy, stupid, anything. Just don't call me "old man"! I feel like my soul has died a little after hearing that! Chad: ...Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha! Ha ha...huff... My...my stomach...! Ha ha ha...! Hugh: !! Chad: Oh man, that reaction was priceless. I really pressed your buttons with that, didn't I? Fine, I'll call you Hugh. You're OK with that, aren't you? Since you claim you're not an old man. Hugh: So you are capable of laughing after all! Chad: Huh? Hugh: You've always got that glare in your eyes. Your brow is always furrowed like you're mad. And you're rude, you have an attitude, and you never smile. Chad: Sorry, what are you talking about? Hugh: I've seen so many kids lose the ability to laugh thanks to this war. Grown-ups have a lot of issues, but come on, kids have to laugh. Even if the idiots who start these wars don't think so. Chad: ...... Hugh: If there are still kids who can laugh, then maybe there is hope after all. I know you've had it rough, but you have to laugh once in a while, OK? Chad: H-hey! Don't mess up my hair! Hugh: Ha ha ha ha, sorry! I'll see you later. Just don't screw up! *leaves* Chad: Maybe adults aren't all as awful as I thought... Say what you will about his usefulness as the game goes on, but the kid's got some interesting conversations.
  7. SHANNA Deke [spoiler=Support C]Shanna: Hey, Captain! Deke: Shanna, please. Don't call me "Captain." Shanna: Why not? Back in Ilia, we always call our leader captain. Deke: I don't like it. Shanna: All right, um... OK, then I'll call you Big Man, like Lot and Wade. Deke: No. Shanna: Shoot, can't use that, either? Deke: Just call me Deke, like you always have. Shanna: No! I always feel left out when they call you Big Man and I just call you Deke. Deke: Don't be ridiculous. Come on, let's go. Shanna: Hey, wait! Deke! [spoiler=Support B]Deke: Shanna, I see you fighting on your own a lot. Shanna: Well, yeah. I'm on a pegasus, as you can plainly see. I move at a different pace, so it's easier to fight by myself. Deke: I want you to slow down to our pace from now on. Shanna: What? But I do fine on my own! Deke: It worries us when you go charging in like that. Shanna: But if I get stronger... Deke: Can you stand up to a whole army on your own? Shanna: ...Um, no. Deke: Then match your pace with the others and work as a team. That'll maximize our chance of victory. Shanna: That'll help us win, huh? Deke: Wars aren't fought alone, you know. Shanna: Yeah... [spoiler=Support A]Shanna: Deke! See how I've been adjusting my pace to the others lately? Deke: Yeah... But don't rely on them too much. Shanna: Huh? That's not what you said earlier! Deke: What I said then applies to soldiers. What I'm saying now applies to sellswords. Shanna: To sellswords...? Deke: A sellsword has to fend for him or herself. No one's gonna watch your back. Always question others. You should even question me. Question whether my orders serve the group, or if they're just putting you in harm's way to protect myself. Shanna: I don't think that's necessary. Deke: Really now. Shanna: You would never make orders like that. Deke: You can never be sure. Shanna: I am sure. And so are Lot and Wade. That's why we entrust our lives to you. Deke: ...Don't get cocky, kid. Shanna: Tee hee... Wade [spoiler=Support C]Wade: So, who's next?! ...? Hey! Shanna! Shanna: Hey, Wade. What's wrong? Wade: Don't buzz about the front lines so much. Shanna: Buzz about?! Am I an insect?! Wade: You might as well be! Archers sure make short work of you! Shanna: Oh yeah?! Then you're an ape, you stupid, slowpoke axefighter! You can't even dodge! Wade: Say that again! You pickin' a fight with me?! Shanna: You started it, you idiot! But fine, you're on! Just try and hit me all the way up here. Wade: Hey... Shanna! No fair! Get down here! Shanna: Yeah, right! Catch me if you can! *leaves* Wade: Blast it! She really knows how to set me off! [spoiler=Support B]Shanna: Yaaawn... Wade: Too soon to relax, stupid. Shanna: Ow! Hey! You hit me! What did you do that for? Wade: There was an enemy archer taking aim from the bushes. Shanna: What...? Wade: And here you are, yawning it up. Idiot. Shanna: Idiot? You have no right to call anyone an idiot, let alone me! Wade: I dunno, someone who decides to kick back in a battle seems pretty idiotic to me. You're just lucky I happened to pass by. You'd be vulture food by now if not for me. Shanna: Hmph, I can take care of a single archer no problem. Do you want a favor or something? I don't need you watching my back. Wade: Oh, is that so! Then pardon me! I'll just sit back and watch you from now on, then. Good luck! Hope ya don't die! *leaves* Shanna: That idiot! I didn't even have a chance to thank him... [spoiler=Support A]Wade: Where did she go? Shanna: Oh, Wade. What are you doing here? Wade: I told you to leave this area to me. That means you don't go flying around on your own! We have to follow Roy's orders... Shanna: But if we sit around waiting for orders all the time, we could miss an opportunity! Wade: Don't you get it?! What if you flew out by yourself into a bunch of enemy archers?! Why don't you just think before you act...? Shanna: What? I thought you were angry about me fighting without you. Wade: Of course I am! We need to work as a team in battle... Shanna: Then what was all that about the archers and stuff? Wade: Uh! Th-that was... Shanna: ...Were you worried about me? Wade: W-w-what are you talking about?! N-n-no way! Y-you just don't know how to act in battle... Shanna: Wade, you're stuttering. Wade: Err... Shanna: Wade. Wade: What? Shanna: Thanks. Wade: ...Oh, c'mon. You're not supposed to say that. Shanna: Yeah... You're right. Lot [spoiler=Support C]Lot: Shanna, don't come out front so often. Pegasi are easy prey for archers. Shanna: Yeah, I know. Lot: And you're frail, so make sure you retreat from danger. Shanna: Uh-huh. Lot: And-- Shanna: Lot! You're such a worrywart. I am a knight. Lot: But you're still in training. Shanna: Well, yeah, but... Lot: Just remember that you can never be overly cautious in battle. Staying wary will keep you alive. Shanna: ...Yeah, yeah. [spoiler=Support B]Lot: Shanna, you can't always charge in like that. Shanna: But Lot... Lot: No buts. You should be more-- Shanna: Lot? Lot: Yes? Shanna: Why are you always so concerned about me? Oh wait, I get it. Aww, I never knew you felt that way about me! Lot: Yeah, you wish. Shanna: That's not it? Lot: ...I have a little sister back home. Shanna: A sister? Does she look like me or something? Lot: No, not in the slightest. Shanna: Then... Lot: She's a lot younger than you. She isn't even ten years old. That's why I worry like I do, fighting in battles like this... Shanna: ...... Lot: Shanna, you have an older sister, right? Shanna: Yeah, two actually. Lot: Then take care of yourself. If not for your sake, then for them. Imagine how they'd feel if something happened to you. Shanna: Yeah... You're right. I'll be more careful. [spoiler=Support A]Shanna: Hey, Lot! Lot: Shanna. You seem to be doing well lately. Shanna: I'm being more careful now. I don't rush in anymore. Lot: Yeah, not as much as before, anyway. Shanna: Shoot, that means I can still improve, doesn't it...? Oh yeah, I had something I wanted to tell you, too. Lot: Something to tell me? What is it? Shanna: A tip for battle! Do you want to hear it? Lot: Sure. Shanna: Then give me your ear for a sec. Lot: OK... Like this? Shanna: ...... Don't stress yourself out so much, Brother. Lot: What the...?! Shanna: That was from your cute little sister! Lot: Hey! Shanna! Shanna: Ha ha ha ha! Juno [spoiler=Support C]Shanna: It's Juno! Juno: Shanna. Have you been well? Shanna: Yeah! Really well. Juno: It's aleady [sic] been a year since you left for training... Are you getting along with the other the [sic] mercenaries? I heard they were all men. Are you doing all right? Shanna: Yeah, I'm doing fine! They're all really nice. And I'm doing really well in battle, too! I do all the work, actually. Juno: Really? Shanna: Yeah! After we joined Lord Roy, the enemies started getting stronger... But still I beat all of them single-handed! Juno: Wow... That's amazing. You've been working hard, Shanna... Shanna: Tee hee... [spoiler=Support B]Shanna: Juno! Juno: What is it, Shanna? Shanna: Teach me how to ride a pegasus like you. The way you fly is really neat. I wish I could fly like that... Juno: I'd like to, but not now. We're in a battle. I can teach you when we have some free time... Shanna: ...Oh. Then let's practice our special move! Juno: Special move...? Shanna: The Triangle Attack! Juno: Oh, that move mother used to tell us about... But we need Tate to do the Triangle Attack. Shanna: Oh... Right. Then, um... Juno: What's the matter, Shanna? Shanna: We haven't seen each other for so long. I just don't want us to be separated again... Juno: ...You always used to cling to me like that when you were little. Shanna, be a good girl and wait until the war is over. Then we can spend as much time together as we like... Shanna: Yeah... You're right. OK! [spoiler=Support A]Shanna: Juno! Juno: Shanna, I haven't had a chance to tell you yet, but... Shanna: Yeah? Juno: While you were away, we had a baby girl. Shanna: What?! You had a baby with Jerrot?! Where, where?! I want to hold her... Juno: I can't bring a baby to the battlefield, Shanna. She's with a friend back home. You can see her when we go back. Shanna: Oh boy! Juno's baby... I bet she's super cute! I really want to see her. Juno: Don't worry. You will. Shanna: But wait a second... My sister had a baby? That makes me...an aunt? I'm too young to be an aunt! Tate [spoiler=Support C]Shanna: Hey! Sister! Tate: ...Shanna, this is a battlefield. What if an archer heard you screaming like that? Shanna: Don't worry. No archer can hit me. Tate: ...Sigh... ...Shanna, where are your reins? You could fall off your pegasus without them. Shanna: Yeah, I took them off. Tate: You took them off? Shanna, you never know what can happen. So considering all the possibilities, I think... Shanna: You worry too much, Tate! Flying is more fun without all the extra gear. See ya! *leaves* Tate: Shanna, wait! I'm not finished yet... ...Sigh. [spoiler=Support B]Shanna: Tate... You're starting to get annoying... Tate: I worry for your sake. If you won't listen to your big sister, I won't let you ride that pegasus any more. [sic] Shanna: What?! But... Tate: Shanna, you brought this upon yourself. Shanna: You're always like that! Always saying everything's my fault... You could say it...a little nicer... Tate: I can't! If I did, you wouldn't-- Shanna: No! I hate you! Tate: ...... Shanna: ...... Tate: Shanna... Um... Shanna: W-what the?! [sic] What are you doing?! Tate: Juno...used to pet our heads like this, didn't she? I'm your big sister, too... So I thought I should try to make you feel better... Shanna: ...... Tate: Shanna, I'm sorry... I don't know how to be kind like Juno... Shanna: Tate... ...Did you take a hit to the head or something? Tate: ...... Why, you... Fine, I don't care anymore. You can fend for yourself from now on! *leaves* Shanna: Hey, wait! Sorry! It just slipped out... [spoiler=Support A]Shanna: Hey! Tate! Tate: ...What? Shanna: I'm sorry about before. But I was really happy that you care so much. I love you, Sister! Tate: ...... ...How can you say that without turning red...? I envy you sometimes... Shanna: What about you? Do you love me, too? Tate: ...There's no need to say it out loud... Shanna: You...don't love me..? [sic] Tate: It's just that... We don't have to say it here, in the middle of... Shanna: Oh... I... I never knew. Tate... You always hated me... Tate: All right, all right! I love you! Of course I love you. You're my only little sister. I'll...I'll always care for you. Shanna: Tee hee... Thanks! See you! *leaves* Tate: Why, you... Roy [spoiler=Support C]Shanna: What's the matter, Lord Roy? Do you need something? Roy: No, I just noticed that you seem so...carefree. Shanna: Hey! Are you making fun of me? Roy: Not at all. I'm envious, actually. Shanna: ...I still think I'm being made fun of. Roy: Trust me, I'm not making fun of you. You see, as the leader, I must always appear confident and optimistic. I worry and despair like everyone else, though. So I wanted to ask you. How can I be as carefree as you? Can you offer me any tips? Shanna: Tips? Roy: You know, things I can do or a mindset I should have, or anything really. Shanna: Hmm... Eat well, sleep well, and laugh well. Roy: ...Is that all? Shanna: Probably. That's all it takes to enjoy life, isn't it? Roy: ...Maybe. Shanna: I'm sure you feel you have to think deeply in your position... But it's probably not as complicated as you think. [spoiler=Support B]Roy: You said you're a pegasus knight-in-training, right? Shanna: Right. Roy: Why are you fighting outside of Ilia? Shanna: That's the rule. Fighting outside of Ilia gets us experience we won't get in the country. Roy: What kind of experience? Shanna: We can see foreign fighting styles, foreign cultures... And of course, there's the money. Roy: I see... Then shouldn't you fight in other armies and see what they're like? Shanna: Huh? No, there's no need for that! There's no other army that travels all over like this one. I couldn't ask to be in a better army than this for my training. Roy: Well, all right. If you say so. Shanna: ...Were you worried about me? Roy: I guess so. Shanna: Hee hee hee! Thanks! [spoiler=Support A]Roy: Shanna, what will you do when the war is over? Shanna: Me? Lemme think... First off, I'll probably go back to Ilia. Roy: Oh... I see. Shanna: Why? Roy: I was just wondering if you wanted to come to Pherae. Shanna: Your home? I'd love to! I want to see it at least once. Roy: Well, it's not as big as Ostia so you might be disappointed. Shanna: I'm sure my hometown is way smaller than yours. Plus it snows a lot. Roy: Great. Then you should like it. Shanna: I'll look forward to it. Roy: Sure. You're welcome to stay as long as you like. Shanna: Thanks! Roy: *leaves* Shanna: Lord Roy is so kind... Inviting a simple mercenary like me to his home... Wait... Does that mean...? No, no, don't get any crazy ideas... but still... Hmm... Jerrot [spoiler=Support C]Shanna: Jerrot! Jerrot: Shanna. Shanna: Hey, Jerrot... Oh, hey, you're my brother now since you're Juno's husband... Jerrot: Yes, you may call me Brother if you wish. Shanna: Oh, right! I wanted to ask you something. How did you meet Juno? Jerrot: Well... Perhaps some other time. Shanna: Why not now? Don't be mean. Come on, tell me! Jerrot: It's not my intention to be mean... You'll understand when you're older, but that's not a question you should ask people... Shanna: But I really want to know... I think I have a right to know as your sister... *Jerrot leaves* Shanna: Jerrot? Wait! [spoiler=Support B]Shanna: Jerrot! Jerrot: ...You won't let me go, will you? Shanna: We're family. I want to know everything... Jerrot: Hm... Very well, I suppose... ...We first met in battle in Etruria. Juno's pegasus squad was hired by our enemy. Shanna: Whoa... Jerrot: We decided to settle the dispute peacefully through diplomacy. Juno was a beautiful and caring woman, so things went well. We got to know each other, and it progressed after that. Shanna: What did you say when you proposed? Jerrot: Y-you want to know that, too? Shanna: Of course. We're family...aren't we? Jerrot: Er... Shanna: So did you propose? Or was it Juno? Jerrot: Well... [spoiler=Support A]Shanna: I'm glad you're a good guy. You and Juno look perfect together. Jerrot: Thank you. I'm relieved you don't hate me. Shanna: Why would I hate you? You're strong, you're kind... And Juno loves you. Jerrot: By the way...tell me about yourself. Are there any men you have in mind? Shanna: Sorry, that's a secret! Jerrot: W-what? After making me tell you so much, you won't do the same for me? Shanna: We're family. Family have [sic] to keep secrets from each other! Jerrot: W-wait, Shanna... Shanna: See ya!
  8. Time for a triple threat! I mean, come on, it's the Ogma, Bord, and Cord trio... LOT Deke [spoiler=Support C]Lot: Hey Big Man, what do you think of our employer? Deke: That Roy kid? You first. Lot: I like him. He's an impressive commander for his age. Deke: Yeah, he is. But...he's young. Too young. Lot: Maybe so, but... Deke: I understand why you like him. He's a nice kid, and he's got brains and guts. But...these battles are all small-time. When we get to a real battle, and he's in a life or death situation... That's when we'll see what kind of leader he really is... [spoiler=Support B]Deke: Years ago...when I first became a mercenary... All I cared about was making a name for myself... Lot: Really...? I wouldn't have expected that. Deke: Our squad was sent right behind enemy lines. Our mission was to go deep into Bern and finish the enemy leader. We waited in a cave for days...and then the time came. When we moved out...arrows rained down on us... Lot: What?! Why...? Deke: Our employer... He had put us there so he could buy time for himself and escape. Our squad was decimated. They killed everyone. Except for me, of course. They tortured me for information. Lot: ...... Deke: We mercenaries are expendable in a client's eyes. That's the norm. You need to understand that. Lot: But...that Roy kid... Deke: Yeah...he's different. I just wish I'd met him sooner... [spoiler=Support A]Deke: So... We're still alive. Lot: That we are. Deke: ...Funny, isn't it? Lot: What is? Deke: We're mercenaries. We shouldn't care who wins. We fight for money and self-preservation. We're better off walking away from a tough fight than staying. But...it's different now. We've been through so many tough battles, and still, here I am. Roy...makes me feel like I fight for a purpose. Like I could die for him and have no regrets. Lot: You took the words right out of my mouth. Shanna [spoiler=Support C]Lot: Shanna, don't come out front so often. Wade [spoiler=Support C]Wade: All right, who's next! Bring it on! Lot: Wade, can't you calm down a bit? Wade: What's that? You scared, Lot? Lot: Not likely! Wade: Then what's the problem? I rush in, and you do everything else. That's worked great so far. Lot: Yeah, but... Wade: But what? Lot: Mary asked me to take care of you. Wade: My sister said that? I'm not a kid anymore... Lot: I wish that were true. Wade: Did you say something? Lot: No, nothing. [spoiler=Support B]Lot: Wade, you seem to be doing well today. Wade: Of course! I'm always great. You better fight hard, too, buddy. You need money to buy medicine for your mother... Lot: ...That doesn't matter anymore. Wade: Huh? What do you mean? Lot: My mother, she... She didn't make it. Wade: What?! Why didn't you tell me?! Lot: Because if I did, you'd tell me to go home to Mieu. Wade: No kidding! She's all alone now. Don't you care about your baby sister? Lot: But I got the message during a job. I couldn't leave without finishing. Wade: ...Lot? Lot: What? Wade: You're stupider than I thought. Lot: ...Maybe so. [spoiler=Support A]Lot: Wade, you're acting strangely as of late. Do you have something to say to me? Wade: ...Lot. Lot: Yeah? Wade: Don't die. Whatever you do, don't die. Lot: What...? Wade: If you're killed, what will happen to Mieu? She's just a little girl. She'll be forced to live on her own. Lot: But you're no different. If you're killed, Mary will be devastated. Wade: Oh, sure, like that wench would cry over me. Lot: ...You can't honestly think that. Wade: ...... Lot: It's not just me that can't die here. It's both of us. One day, we'll go back home. Wade: ...It's just a dirty village with no clean water or vegetation. Lot: Maybe so, but it's our home, and we both have people waiting for us. Wade: Yeah, you're right. Let's not disappoint them! Echidna [spoiler=Support C]Echidna: Hey, you're from the Western Isles, right? Lot: Yeah... How did you know? Echidna: Easy. Your face. All men from the Isles have features like yours. Lot: ...They do? Echidna: Are you going back home after the war? If you are, I could use your help. Lot: Yeah? Echidna: I'm planning on building a new village in the Western Isles. It'll be for people who lost their homes during the war. I want you to help build it. Lot: All right, I'll do what I can... Echidna: Really? Thanks. Lot: But I can't make any promises. I can only help if I'm still alive when the war ends. Echidna: Talking like that already? Lot: I only say it because it's a distinct possibility. I'm not one to make empty promises... Echidna: You sure worry a lot for someone your age. You'll be getting gray hairs before thirty at that rate. Lot: ...I will? [spoiler=Support B]Echidna: Hey, it's you again. Lot: You're the one who wanted to build the village... Echidna: The planning's going along smoothly. A free village, open to anybody... It's like a dream coming true. Lot: Do you have the money to build it? Echidna: ...You want logistics now, eh? To tell the truth... No. But there are mines in the Isles, so I just need to go in and find the mother lode. Lot: That seems pretty unlikely... ...Oh, wait. I know of an old, deserted gold mine you could try. Echidna: Really? Lot: Yeah, I went there with my friend Wade when I was a kid. There were rumors that the place was haunted, so nobody went near it. Echidna: Go on. Lot: Wade was really scared. He probably believed the rumors. We went in a ways, and Wade let out a scream and ran for the entrance. So I followed him out. Echidna: Did he see something? Lot: Yeah, snakes. Tons of them. They covered the whole cave floor. What I want to know is how they got there in the first place... But anyway, the mine was closed because of them. Echidna: I see... So there might still be some gold left in there. Sounds interesting. We might get enough money for the village there. Say, can you take me when you get the chance? Lot: I don't mind... But it'll be dangerous. Echidna: Oh, I'm not worried. You'll be there to protect us. Lot: ...I will? [spoiler=Support A]Echidna: Hey, how are you doing? Lot: Still alive, at least. Echidna: Don't you die. I need you to survive. Lot: I don't plan on dying. I have a sister back home. And there's also... Echidna: Also what? Lot: Nothing. Never mind. Echidna: Oh, I get it. You've got a special somebody waiting for you, eh? Well, well, aren't you a lucky guy? Lot: ...... I want to go home as soon as I can, provided I'm alive... Echidna: Are you worrying about that again? Lot: The enemies get stronger all the time. I don't know how much longer I'll last. Echidna: ...... Lot: I'm confident that we'll win in the end... But I just don't know that I'll make it home. Echidna: Come on, don't be stupid. Lot: ...I'm stupid now? Echidna: Someone your age should be enjoying life! I know you have your sister to think of. But let yourself go once in a while. You might get a few cuts and bruises, but that's life. Lot: ...I don't like cuts and bruises. Echidna: Don't worry. If you die, I'll take care of things. So go out and get killed! It'll be fine. ...Trust me. *leaves* Lot: ...... Somehow I don't think that came out like she intended it to... Was she...trying to cheer me up? Lance [spoiler=Support C]Lance: You are Lot the mercenary. An axe-fighter of great endurance. Lot: You... You're Lance, knight of Pherae. Lance: Is something troubling you? You have a worried look about you. Lot: Oh... I was just thinking about something. Actually, this is perfect. Let me ask your opinion on something. Lance: If it is within my meager scope of knowledge. Lot: All right, so, axes are weak against swords. That much is common sense. What I'm wondering is why it's that way to begin with. I don't understand the physics behind it. That's what's troubling me. Lance: I see. I wondered the same thing before. I found the answer after going through several books on tactics. Lot: Is it...the weapon's weight? Lance: Exactly. All weapons are designed by humans. As such, an invincible weapon with no flaws is inconceivable. Lot: You're saying a weapon will always have weaknesses. Lance: Right. Throughout history, many kinds of weapons have been made and gone out of use. Of all of them, the sword, axe and lance remain, creating the weapon triangle. * Lot: But what about weapons like the swordreaver? Lance: Well, that brings us to a whole new dimension. What I mean is... ............ Lot: ...Ah, I see... Then what about... ............ *Note: This dialogue bubble extends beyond the screen, but not the text itself. Just wondering if that was intentional. [spoiler=Support B]Lance: Knight to F6. Lot: Knight to E3. Lance: Pegasus knight to D1. Lot: Er... Archer to B1. Lance: Swordmaster to F1. Checkmate. Lot: ..... [sic] ...You win. Lance: So it seems. Lot: ...Do you think it was a mistake to move that ballista 6 turns ago? Lance: Yes, I think so. Where did you learn how to play? It's a requirement for knights, so that's how I learned it. Lot: An old war veteran who lives close to my home taught me. I could never find anyone to play against in my mercenary groups. It looks like I'm but a novice next to you, though. Lance: Well, you can recognize your own mistakes, so you have skill. I played with Allen the other day, but it was over in 2 turns. [spoiler=Support A]Lot: What do you think of this battle? Lance: What do you mean? Lot: Do you think we stand a chance of winning? Lance: ...... I honestly don't know. We are severely outnumbered. The enemy can afford to send in new troops all the time, while we must be careful not to lose even a single soldier. Lot: Yeah... We're almost on completely different levels. Lance: But Lord Roy often conceives genius strategies beyond my understanding. He has commanded us miraculously well thus far. Under his direction, I feel that we cannot fail. Lord Roy will surely lead us to a glorious victory. Lot: I see... ...You're not a yes man, thinking so just because he is your lord. So if even you believe in him, he deserves my faith... I'm certain we will succeed.
  9. WADE Deke [spoiler=Support C]Deke: Wade. Let me talk to you for a sec. Wade: Whuh? Sure. Deke: Pay more attention to what's going on around you. The way you fight, you're just asking to be killed. Wade: Aw, c'mon, Big Man, I haven't died yet. I can crush anything with these massive arms... Deke: I've heard those same words from plenty of young hotshots before. They're all dead now. You just worry me is all. Wade: Well, all right... You're the boss, Big Man. Deke: Good. I'm glad you can take some criticism. [spoiler=Support B]Deke: ...Wade. Wade: Big Man! Did you see me?! I took down three guys with one swing... Deke: Do you even remember what I told you? Wade: Huh? Uhh... Charge? Deke: No! I told you to pay more attention to your surroundings. Wade: Fighting like that just doesn't sit well with me. I'm getting even stronger, too. I'll crush anyone who dares stand up to me. *leaves* Deke: Wade! ...That kid can't sit still, can he? [spoiler=Support A]Wade: Big Man... Deke: What? Wade: Sorry. You win. I almost got myself killed earlier, then I remembered what you told me. Maybe I was getting carried away... Deke: Yeah, I think so. Wade: Since then, I've been following your advice... Deke: I can see that. You're still alive. If you pay more attention, you won't die like a fool. With your strength, you can impress people no matter how you fight. Wade: ...Are you OK? You're like...praising me. It feels...weird. Deke: Shut up. Let's go. Shanna [spoiler=Support C]Wade: So, who's next?! ...? Hey! Lot [spoiler=Support C]Wade: All right, who's next! Bring it on! Lot: Wade, can't you calm down a bit? Wade: What's that? You scared, Lot? Lot: Not likely! Wade: Then what's the problem? I rush in, and you do everything else. That's worked great so far. Lot: Yeah, but... Wade: But what? Lot: Mary asked me to take care of you. Wade: My sister said that? I'm not a kid anymore... Lot: I wish that were true. Wade: Did you say something? Lot: No, nothing. [spoiler=Support B]Lot: Wade, you seem to be doing well today. Wade: Of course! I'm always great. Echidna [spoiler=Support C]Echidna: Hey, you're from the Western Isles, aren't you? Wade: ...... How did you know? Echidna: I can tell by your face. Wade: Really? That's actually kind of impressive... Echidna: Are you going back to your hometown after the war? If you are, I could use your help. Wade: Help with what? Echidna: I'm planning to build a new village for people who lost their homes in the war. I can't do it myself, though. Wade: What do you want me to do? Echidna: Oh, there are plenty of things you could do. Chop firewood, clean the laundry, help with cooking... Wade: ...I'm no servant. I live the mercenary life. Sorry, but you better ask someone else... Echidna: You'll help us? Fantastic! I knew you would. Wade: Wait, that's not what I said! Were you even listening?! Echidna: ...Sure I was. But I can tell that you want to. Wade: No, I don't! Echidna: I can see in your eyes your desire to help. Wade: No you can't! [spoiler=Support B]Echidna: Hey. Wade: You again... I'm not helping, all right? Echidna: Trust me, you don't want to be a mercenary. You never know when you could die. And you're weak, so that'll be sooner rather than later. Wade: Grr... You'll regret saying that... You don't want to see me when I'm angry. Echidna: Oh? Wade: What are you looking at me like that for?! I've slain monsters stronger than any human! Echidna: Wow, now that's something. What kind of beasts? Wade: ...Near my village...there's this weird cave. When I was a kid, people said it was filled with monsters. So one day I got my friend Lot and we went to defeat them. Echidna: Yeah? Wade: The cave was dark and damp... Something seemed wrong. Lot was scared, but I was fine. I led the way...and finally, there they were. The monsters were crawling all over the cave floor. Long, skinny bodies slithering about, all scaly and spotted... Echidna: Snakes? Wade: ...... Well, I guess there were kind of like snakes. But these were no ordinary snakes. They were monsters, with poison and strange dances and weird moves... Echidna: Yeah... Snakes. Anyway, where is this cave? Wade: ...What? Echidna: I'll go check it out on my way way [sic] to the village site. I'm curious now. Wade: B-but I already killed all the monsters... Echidna: You said they were all over the cave floor. Some might have escaped. They were no ordinary snakes, right? I want to see them. Wade: Grr... [spoiler=Support A]Echidna: Well, we meet again. Doesn't looking at my face make you want to help out? Wade: No. ...But... When the war is over, I might just stop by my old home. And if I get bored, maybe I'll come and help a little. Echidna: Do you have family back home? Wade: Yeah, an older sister who never stops yelling at me. Echidna: ...Sigh... You're pretty stupid, you know that? Wade: Stupid? What do you mean by stupid, you-- Echidna: You've got a home to return to. You've got someone waiting for you. Wade: ...... Echidna: Help us out if you have time, but your sister is more important. Do you understand? Wade: Yeah, yeah, I know... Can't wait for her to scold me again... Allen [spoiler=Support C]Allen: You... You're Wade, the mercenary. Wade: Uh, yeah... Who are you? Allen: I'm Allen, knight of Pherae. Wade: Oh, you're one of our client's knights. Are you any good? Allen: Right to the point... I will say that I consider myself fairly skilled. Wade: All right, good. Let's duel. Allen: What, right now? Wade: Of course. Allen: Very well. But I'm telling you now, I won't go easy on you. Wade: I'd expect no less. Just don't start crying if I hurt you. Allen: Let's go! *they both leave and switch places* Wade: W...whoa... You're better than I thought... Allen: You too... Good fight! Wade: I'll beat you next time. Got that? Allen: Sure thing! [spoiler=Support B]Wade: Hey, you! Allen: Wade! How do you fare? Wade: I've been looking for you. We didn't finish our match yet. Allen: Oh? I thought I won. Wade: No way. I was just getting warmed up. You haven't seen the real me yet. Allen: No? You haven't seen what I can do, either! Wade: Bring it on! *they both leave and switch places* Wade: You are strong... Allen: Let's call it a tie... Lance and I used to spar like this a lot. It's great to have a partner to train and grow with. Wade: I haven't lost yet! You'll see my true strength next time, you hear?! Allen: Of course. Any time you're ready! [spoiler=Support A]Wade: Aaaarrr! Allen: ...! You're...getting better, Wade! Wade: Y...you too! You become stronger every time we meet. Allen: I'm nothing. It's just you who's weak. Wade: Heh, whatever! I'll beat you! I'll crush all the enemies with my axe... Allen: Enemies...? Wade. Wade: What? Allen: What do you think of this war? Wade: What do you mean? Allen: Do you think we can win? Wade: What? Of course we'll win. I'm on this side, after all. How could we lose? We've also got you. No one stands a chance against the two of us. Allen: Ha ha... You're right. We can't lose. Enough talk! Charge! Wade: Yeah! Let's go get 'em! i swear, if lot calls his sister a "thing", he's taking a fireball to the face from the sorcerer's ring
  10. DEKE Wade [spoiler=Support C]Deke: Wade. Let's go. Lot [spoiler=Support C]Lot: Hey Big Man, what do you think of our employer? Shanna [spoiler=Support C]Shanna: Hey, Captain! Clarine [spoiler=Support C]Clarine: Excuse me, would you mind sitting still? Klain [spoiler=Support C]Klain: Excuse me. Deke: Do you need something, Commander Klain? Klain: Deke... You don't recognize me? Deke: ...How about that. You do remember me. Klain: Of course! I recognized you at once! You didn't seem to notice me over there... Deke: 13 years... Young Master Klain is all grown up, I see. Klain: You can stop calling me Young Master. I'm 19 now. I serve as a commander under the king himself. Deke: Yeah, I know. Not bad at all. How are Lord Pent and Lady Louise? Klain: Oh, just as laid-back as always. The revolution doesn't seem to concern them at all. I envy them sometimes. Deke: Well...there's plenty to envy about you, too. Klain: What? What do you mean? Deke: We'll talk another time. *leaves* Klain: Deke! I wanted to talk more... [spoiler=Support B]Deke: Klain! Don't come out front so much. Klain: This is a good vantage point. Deke: You bowmen should stay in back and cover for us. There's no need for you to come all the way up here. Klain: Deke, I told you, I'm not a child anymore. I often find myself up front in the squad I lead. Deke: Sorry, but you're still Young Master Klain to me. I couldn't face Lord Pent if you got hurt. Klain: ...If you care so much, why don't you come back to the manse? Deke, once this war ends, come back home with me. I'm certain Father and Mother would love to see you. Deke: I appreciate the thought, Klain. But if you really care about your family, you shouldn't talk to a mercenary like me. It won't look good. Klain: What...?! Deke: You can only talk to me like this now because this is war. Think about it. Klain: ...... [spoiler=Support A]Klain: Deke. Deke: ...Klain, you really shouldn't be talking to me right now. Klain: ...I wanted to tell you a story. I want you to listen. It was 15 years ago, at Aquleia's greatest arena. A noble's child was attacked by a lion in the opening display. Deke: ...... Klain: A young arena combatant was the one who saved the child. He was a skilled swordfighter who could defeat men twice his size with ease. But fighting a lion isn't the same. He didn't leave the fight unscathed. He left with wounds all over his body and four deep scars on his face. Deke: ...... Klain: The noble, impressed and moved by the swordsman's selfless act, hired him into his family's service and treated him well. For several years, the young man served as the family's personal arena fighter. His name became known all across the land. But one day, he decided to give up that life and left. The child, who looked up to the fighter as if he were a brother, felt betrayed, and was devastated. ...But now I understand. You were doing what you felt was best for me and my family... Deke: You...you were much too kind to me. I was just a lowly fighter. Lord Pent and Lady Louise treated me like family. Like a son. Gossip and accusations spread about them. ...That's why I left. Klain: I understand that now. But you should have stayed. Deke: I'm sorry? Klain: You always wanted what was best for us... But did you ever consider how much we cared about you? I can't just forget about you... Deke: ...You're right. I never considered that. I'm sorry. Klain: Then you'll come with me back to my family? Deke: Yeah, you win, Young Master Klain. I'll poke my head in at the manse when I can. Rutger [spoiler=Support C]Deke: Ack! I'm sorry.
  11. I have every conversation all recorded; it's just a matter of posting it all when I have time. Speaking of posting... ELEN Milady [spoiler=Support C]Elen: Madam Milady, are you unhurt? Milady: Yes, Elen, I'm fine. Elen: Oh, if you're going up front, please take these vulneraries... Milady: Elen, what's the matter? Elen: I'm sorry? Milady: You seem to be more...concerned than usual. Elen: I-I don't think so. Milady: If you have something to say, then I will listen. Elen: ...... Milady: Well, I can't force you... But as we both serve Princess Guinivere, I would appreciate if you voiced any concerns. Elen: I-I'm sorry... Milady: Ah, well, I suppose I can wait until you're ready. *leaves* Elen: I'm sorry...Madam Milady... [spoiler=Support B]Elen: Madam Milady! About before... Milady: Before? Elen: You said that I seemed concerned... Milady: Oh, that. Are you ready to tell me what's on your mind? Elen: Yes. Uh... It's just that... I wanted to apologize. Milady: Apologize? For what? Elen: When the princess and I left to meet with the Lycian lords, I didn't consult you at all. Milady: ...... Elen: I wanted to apologize for that... I know you have nothing but loyalty for Princess Guinivere, yet I... Milady: You just followed Princess Guinivere's orders, as is your duty. You have nothing to apologize for. Elen: But... Milady: Elen, you always doubt your actions too much. You won't be able to move forward if your mind is stuck in the past. Elen: Yes, you're right... [spoiler=Support A]Milady: Elen, you look a lot better now. Elen: Yes, I feel a weight has been lifted off my shoulders. Thank you again for listening to me. Milady: Any time at all. Elen: But...our roles are reversed... I am the cleric. It is I who am supposed to listen to others to relieve them of their problems, and yet it is you who helped me. Milady: Elen, I told you not to doubt your actions. Elen: I know... Milady: I'm actually grateful you didn't tell me when you left with the princess. Elen: Grateful...? You are? Milady: Of course. You kept Princess Guinivere safe without me. Elen: Madam Milady... Milady: Together I'm sure we can be of great help to Princess Guinivere. Just don't worry so much about trivial matters anymore, all right? Elen: Yes, you're right. Zeiss [spoiler=Support C]Zeiss: Elen! Elen: Sir Zeiss?! Zeiss: I thought that was you. You are with this army as well. Elen: Yes, I will always be at Princess Guinivere's side... Did you join to help Madam Milady? Zeiss: That's part of it, of course, but the main reason is to see how the princess helps Bern. Elen: So you will be assisting us as well? Zeiss: Well, not exactly... Actually, yeah, I guess I will be. Elen: Thank you. You will be of great assistance. Zeiss: Yeah. Well, maybe. Elen: I'll see you then. Zeiss: Yeah, see you later. [spoiler=Support B]Elen: Sir Zeiss! Zeiss: Elen, what's the matter? Elen: I saw a man over there with a terribly menacing look on his face... Zeiss: What?! Where?! Oh, him? ...Elen, he's in our army. Elen: What? Oh dear... How very embarrassing... Zeiss: Did you scream or something? Elen: Yes, I'm afraid so. Zeiss: You're still scared of men? I remember it was years before you would speak to me normally like this. Elen: I'm sorry... Zeiss: No, it's all right. That's just how you are. But you don't need to address me as "Sir". Elen: Ah...I... Zeiss: OK, OK, don't lose your head about it... Well, I'll see you around. Let me know if anything happens. *leaves* Elen: ...... [spoiler=Support A]Zeiss: Elen! Elen: Z.. [sic] Sir Zeiss. Zeiss: Here. Elen: These flowers...! Zeiss: They're the same as the ones you grew back in Bern, aren't they? Elen: ...... Zeiss: Elen? What's wrong? Wait, are these the wrong flowers? Elen: ...Why...? Zeiss: Huh? Elen: Why are you always...so kind to me...? Zeiss: Eh? Ah, er, well... We come from the same town, and, uh... I don't know. I feel that I can't...leave you alone, you know? I want to stay by your side and protect you... Do you not want me to? Elen: No, I'm very glad... But I must stay by Princess Guinivere... Zeiss: I know. I'm a knight of Bern, so I'll protect the princess, too. I'll protect you both, so we can someday return to Bern! Elen: Thank you, Zeiss... Thank you. Saul [spoiler=Support C]Elen: Are you Brother Saul? Lugh [spoiler=Support C]Lugh: Sister! Chad [spoiler=Support C]Chad: Sister!
  12. BORS Lilina [spoiler=Support C]Bors: Lady Lilina... Has something been bothering you lately? Lilina: What...? No, I'm fine. Bors: Are you sure...? I was given special orders by Lord Hector to protect you at all costs. Lilina: So? Bors: So if something has happened, you should tell me so I can protect you adequately... Lilina: I told you! Nothing's wrong! Bors: B-but normally, milady, you aren't quite this...touchy... Lilina: Touchy?! I'm not touchy! Bors: Yes, milady, but-- Lilina: Silence, Bors! You're annoying me. Bors: W-where are you going, milady? Lilina: Someplace where I won't have to listen to you. Bors: Lady Lilina! [spoiler=Support B]Lilina: Bors, erm...about before... Bors: Before? Lilina: I wanted to apologize. Bors: To me? Lilina: You were just concerned for me, and I blew up at you... I'm sorry. Bors: Please...don't be. Lilina: ...Will you hear why I'm so irritable? I think I need someone to talk to... Bors: If I may, then of course. Lilina: It's about Roy... What do you think about him? Bors: I think he has grown splendidly into a wise and caring leader to us all. Lilina: But the Roy I know had mismatched buttons on his suit, and he couldn't do even one step of a dance... I always thought I had to take care of him. Bors: ...... Lilina: But Roy's suddenly changed. He's gotten so...grown up, you know? He seems so far away now... Bors: ...Milady, Lord Roy has not changed as much as you think. Lilina: Really? Bors: He has certainly matured, but his nature is still the same. Lord Roy is still the same person you know him to be within. Lilina: Yes, you're right... Thank you for lending me your ear, Bors. Bors: Of course, milady. [spoiler=Support A]Bors: You look much better today, milady. Lilina: Yes, I feel much better, too. Bors: That is good to hear. Lilina: It's not as if Roy was avoiding me or anything... It's just that he seemed to be changing, and I felt I was left behind. Bors: ...... Lilina: I jumped to conclusions and fretted over nothing... Once I realized that, it suddenly seemed so silly. I'm still a child, aren't I? Bors: Lady Lilina... Lilina: Bors, will you stay by my side? Bors: ...I am a knight, and my loyalty lies with you. I shall always be at your side, ready to serve. Lilina: Thank you, Bors... Barth [spoiler=Support C]Bors: Ah, Barth. Long time no see. Barth: Yes. You seem to have improved a great deal. Bors: There were many tough battles in our journey from Lycia to Ostia. Barth: Well, it's not as if I was just sitting around in Ostia, either. I trained at the arena, preparing for battle. Bors: ...I remember that arena. I have to say, though... I don't really approve of that. A knight, fighting for money? It's almost a contradiction... Barth: No one has need of a weak knight. I train myself to prevail in battle. Bors: Heh. You haven't changed at all. Barth: Neither have you...oaf [sic] [spoiler=Support B]Bors: Barth... Were you all right with that? Barth: With what? Bors: With not going into battle alongside Lord Hector. You've always said that a knight's purpose is to fight. Barth: ...I would certainly say I was disappointed at first. But staying and protecting the castle and Lady Lilina was its own battle. Bors: That's for sure... Barth: But I allowed Lady Lilina to fall into the hands of the enemy. That was my failure. I was naive... Somewhere in my heart, I wanted to believe that Ostia was at peace. Bors: Don't blame yourself... You always do that. Barth: That's true. I do... Whenever I talk to you, I always seem to reveal my true feelings. Bors: We've been friends ever since we were knighted. We couldn't hide something from one another even if we tried. Barth: Ha ha ha... You're right about that. [spoiler=Support A]Barth: Bors, I always wanted to ask you... Bors: Ask me what? Barth: Why did you become a knight? Bors: Because I want to protect the ones I love. Barth: Admirable. Bors: And you? Barth: I became a knight because they are the strongest fighters. I don't believe any can match a knight in a one-on-one battle. ...That's why I couldn't protect Lady Lilina... We faced a whole army of armored knights. Bors: Blaming yourself again? It only happened because I wasn't strong enough. If I had enough power to stop the rebellion myself, I could have contained the situation. I must become stronger still. Bors: ...Then become a lance sharper than any other. And I shall be your impervious shield. Barth: A lance and shield... Bors: An unstoppable lance and an unbreakable shield. Barth: That sounds like a plan, friend! Wendy [spoiler=Support C]Wendy: Bors? Bors: O-oh! Hello, Wendy. What a...uh...coincidence! Wendy: It is good to see you well. Do you need something, Brother? Bors: No...I don't. I was just walking around and I ran into you. Yes. Wendy: OK... Bors: Are you hurt? Your armor isn't too heavy? Wendy: No, I am fine, Brother. I must be off, though... Bors: Leaving already? You could rest a bit longer... Wendy: Thank you for your consideration, but this is a battle. Bors: Y-yes, of course... Take care. [spoiler=Support B]Wendy: ...Bors? Bors: Oh, Wendy... Running in to you like this... Pure coincidence, yet again... Wendy: Is something...wrong? Bors: Ah, no, it's nothing. Why don't we talk a little, though? You're not hurt? Your armor's not too heavy? Wendy: No, I'm fine. Thanks for the concern. Bors: Are you taking care of your lance and helmet? Wendy: Yes, of course. Bors: Are you eating properly? Do you have any worries that you want to talk about? Wendy: I'm fine. Bors: Have you made any friends? Any boyfriends I should know about...? [spoiler=Support A]Wendy: Bors... Bors: W-Wendy! We certainly meet a lot... Wendy: Yes, Brother. Do you need something? Bors: No, nothing. Just... Wendy: Bors... Bors: Hm? Wendy: I am truly grateful for your concern. But I am a knight of Ostia. I'm training myself so I can be like you. Bors: ...... Wendy: If I'm to become strong, I can't depend upon you all the time. I'm fine, really, so please don't worry... ...I'm grateful to have a brother like you. But if you'll excuse me. *leaves* Bors: ...... ...Dear me... She's grown so much. I suppose I was being childish... Wendy, I wish you luck. Astore [spoiler=Support C]Astore: Heya, Bors. Bors: Astore... Is something the matter? Astore: Nah, it's nothing. I just wanted to say hi. Ha ha ha... Bors: ...... That smell... Have you been drinking? Astore: Maybe a little. I was bored so I decided to have a swig... Bors: Bored? This is the middle of a battle... Astore: Hey, all I can do is open chests and doors anyway... Not like I can fight or do anything worthwhile. I'll get out of your hair so you can get back to fighting... *leaves* Bors: ...... [spoiler=Support B]Astore: Oh, Bors. Long time no see. Bors: Astore... I think you should refrain from...imbibing as you do. The younger recruits are watching, and you're setting a bad example. Astore: Bors... Bors: ...Yes? Astore: I'm sorry...about Lord Hector... Bors: ...... Astore: I knew there was a traitor to the Lycian League... If I'd done my job properly, we wouldn't be in this state... Lord Hector wouldn't have lost...if I'd... Bors: ..... [sic] That was not your fault. Astore: And, you know... The rebellion. It should have been obvious... But I couldn't do anything about it... Heh, I'm just a worthless sack... You must really hate me... I'm a joke of a spy... Ha ha...ha... Bors: ...... Astore: Rats... I'm out of sauce... [spoiler=Support A]Bors: Astore. Astore: Huh...? Oh, Bors. Come have a drink with me... Bors: Stop blaming yourself. Astore: ...... Bors: We lost Lord Hector. The responsibility lies in all of us. But...still...we must not dwell on the past. We must look forward. We must do as Lord Hector would have wanted. We need you, Astore. Astore: ...... ...Why? Why are you...defending a useless wretch like me...? Bors: Because you are a knight of Ostia. Astore: ...A knight? Who...? Me? Bors: You may not have been knighted... But you put your life on the line for Lord Hector. That is more than enough to make you a knight. At least, I think so. Astore: ..... [sic] ...Bors...I... Bors: Astore, let us move forward...and make our master proud. Ogier [spoiler=Support C]Ogier: Sir Bors? You are Sir Bors, aren't you? Bors: Oh... And you are? Ogier: I'm Ogier of the Ostian knights. I heard about you from Wendy. Bors: Ah, my sister... So you're our newest recruit? Ogier: Yes. I'm pleased to meet you. Bors: I wish I could say the same...but you don't look like a knight. Ogier: Yes, well, I try to fill in the gaps that our squad falls short in. Bors: Ah, I see. Most admirable. Not everyone has that ability. Ogier: Thank you, sir. [spoiler=Support B]Ogier: I heard from Sir Barth that you beat him once in combat. Is that true? Bors: Yes, I did. It was just once, in a great tournament held in Ostia. Ogier: What was the battle like? Bors: To tell the truth, I actually don't remember it very well. Ogier: What? The battle with Sir Barth was so boring that you forgot about it? Bors: Oh, no, that's not it. It was because I don't like to fight for the sake of fighting. I didn't want to join so I had no interest in the tournament. I've forgotten most of what happened. Ogier: ...... Bors: Ogier, you must always fight for a cause. You must never fight simply for the sake of fighting. [spoiler=Support A]Ogier: Sir Bors, you said that one must always have a cause to fight for. Bors: Indeed I did. You must be willing to go through any and all hardships for that cause. Do you have such a purpose? Ogier: Unfortunately, I don't. I only became a mercenary to feed my family. So I don't really have a cause... Bors: You've got one right there. Ogier: What? Bors: Feeding your family is a noble cause. Train yourself to become stronger, all for your family. Ogier: Y-yes, sir, I will! Bors: A cause isn't limited to defending your country or saving the world. If you understand that, then you will fight with the best. That's all for Chapter 1's recruits. Elen, Deke and the others are up next. Speaking of which, how am I doing so far? Should I stick to one or two characters a day, or do you guys think I should step it up and do more per day? Just let me know what you think, and feel free to discuss the Support conversations. it'd certainly make me feel less guilty about all this double-posting seriously it's kinda crazy a mod hasn't raised an eyebrow at this
  13. WOLT Roy [spoiler=Support C]Roy: Wolt! Wolt: Lord Roy, is something wrong? Roy: ...Just call me Roy. I've known you all my life. Wolt: I appreciate your kindness, but rules are rules. Roy: Do you really think so? You suddenly feel so distant to me. Wolt: What are you saying? I'm right here in front of you. Roy: That's not what I meant. Wolt: Ha ha, I know. But enough talk. We haven't time to laze about here. Roy: ...... Wolt: Let's go! The battle awaits us, Lord Roy. [spoiler=Support B]Roy: Wolt! About before... Wolt: Lord Roy, the issue was settled. More importantly, this is a battlefield. You never know where enemies are hiding. Keep on your guard. Roy: Wolt... You're starting to sound like Merlinus and Marcus. Wolt: Am I? Thank you! That is such praise. All I desire is to be as loyal a servant as they are. Roy: ...Are you serious? Wolt: Of course! Roy: ...... Wolt: Lord Roy? Is something wrong? Roy: No. Leave me alone for a while, would you? Wolt: Lord Roy...? [spoiler=Support A]Wolt: Lord Roy! Roy: What? Wolt: You do not look well. Is there something on your mind? Roy: ...Actually, there is. Would you mind if we talked about it? Wolt: Of course not! I'll do my best to help. Roy: You see, I'm a bit frustrated with someone in the army. I understand where he's coming from, but... Wolt: You understand him logically, but your feelings don't agree. Is that it? Roy: Yes, exactly. My feelings don't align with what I know to be true. And when I start feeling frustrated, I feel like telling him. Wolt: Then do so! It is bad for your health to keep your feelings bottled up. Besides, we all know you are in a stressful position. I'm sure he will understand if you feel the need to vent. Roy: Do you think so? Wolt: Of course! If you want, I can go talk to that person. I will always support you, so don't hesitate to ask anything of me. Roy: Thanks, Wolt. I feel better now. But enough chatter! We have to get moving! Wolt: Yes, Lord Roy! ...By the way, tell me who it is you're frustrated with. I will sit him down and have a frank discussion... Roy: No, it's all right now. Wolt: Really? ...Who was it? Roy: He's closer than you realize. Wolt: What? Where? ...... ...Was it...me? Roy: You got it! Wolt: Lord Roy! Marcus [spoiler=Support C]Wolt: Sir Marcus! Marcus: Ah, Wolt. What is the matter? Wolt: I have something to ask of you. Marcus: You do? What is it? Wolt: Please, could you...teach me how to use a sword? Marcus: ...... May I ask why? Wolt: I can only use bows. An archer can't even defend himself at close range. I won't be able to protect Lord Roy if something happens... Marcus: Do not belittle the bow. It has many traits that close range weapons do not. Wolt: Even so... Marcus: Besides, what is the point in learning swordplay at your late age? A mediocre skill would be nothing but a hindrance to Lord Roy. Wolt: Well... Marcus: Do not worry yourself about it any further. You are a great help to Lord Roy as you are. Wolt: ...I hope so... [spoiler=Support B]Wolt: Sir Marcus. Marcus: Wolt... I can tell by your face that you still want me to teach you swordplay. Wolt: I just don't understand. Am I really that much help to Lord Roy? Marcus: Wolt... Tell me what you think of the knights like me who served Lord Eliwood. Wolt: Uh...well... You're all really strong and I look up to you. Marcus: Well, thank you for that. But there was one problem with Lord Eliwood's knights. Wolt: There was? Marcus: None of us are even close to him in age. Wolt: Now that you mention it... Marcus: Lord Eliwood's vassals... They were all old like me or too young for him to relate to. He couldn't speak to us on a comfortable level. In a way, he was isolated. Wolt: I never even thought about that... Marcus: I don't want Lord Roy to suffer the same fate. You and Lord Roy are the same age, and what's more, you were raised together. I need you to stay by Lord Roy's side and give him moral support. Wolt: Moral support? Marcus: Combat prowess is important, but that is not all you can do. Think on what I've said. You are more important than you realize. [spoiler=Support A]Marcus: Ah, Wolt. You look better. Do you still want me to teach you how to wield a sword? Wolt: No. After hearing your words, I lost any sense of hesitation. I will perfect my skills with the bow and ensure Lord Roy can count on me! Marcus: Very good. Then it appears I can let you take over for me. Wolt: What? B-but if you leave now... Marcus: No, no, I won't retire right at this moment. Still, the day isn't far off. Once I am gone, you must take care of Lord Roy. Wolt: Me...? Marcus: Are you embarrassed to take over for an old man like me? Wolt: No, not at all... It's just...do you really think I can do it...? Marcus: There's your problem. You lack confidence. Lord Roy won't be able to turn to you if you're like that. Wolt: You're right... Marcus: You can do it. All you need is confidence! Allen [spoiler=Support C]Allen: 498... 499... 500... Wolt: Sir Allen? Allen: Whew... Ah, Wolt. Wolt: You're sweating so profusely... Are you all right? Allen: Don't worry. I'm fine. I was just doing some practice swings with my sword. I'm still weak. I must train myself further. Wolt: But...we're in the middle of a battle. Shouldn't you be saving your energy for an emergency, Sir Allen? Allen: ...Silence! An enemy! Let's go, Wolt! Don't lag behind! *leaves* Wolt: Wha--? Y-yes, Sir Allen! [spoiler=Support B]Allen: 998! ...999! ...1000...! Wolt: Sir Allen! Allen: Ah...huff...Wolt... Good to...huff...see you...huff...again... Wolt: M-must you train so hard in battle? The enemy won't have much left to fight if you're like that! Allen: Maybe I'm crazy...but yes, I have to do it. The continent feels bigger and bigger the more we fight. Wolt: Yes. Who knows what we may be up against next? Allen: We must break through our own limits and become stronger. We must be able to stand against any so we can protect Lord Roy. Wolt: You're right! Allen: All right... I've caught my breath. Let's go! *leaves* Wolt: He's amazing... But I can't let him get ahead of me! [spoiler=Support A]Wolt: 98... 99... Allen: Wolt? Wolt: Sir Allen! Allen: Are you training now, too? Wolt: Yes, well, after seeing you, I couldn't just sit around doing nothing. I have to become strong to protect Lord Roy as well. Allen: There you go. That's the spirit! Become strong, and surprise even Lord Roy! Wolt: Yes! Lance [spoiler=Support C]Lance: ...... Wolt: Sir Lance? Lance: ...I get it now. Wolt: Uh... Sir Lance? Lance: Ah, Wolt. Sorry, I was thinking some things over. Wolt: Have I disturbed you? Lance: No, I understand now. Everything is fine. Wolt: I...see. Lance: Did you need something, Wolt? Wolt: Yes, I want to watch you fight. Teach me to fight like you, so I can protect Lord Roy! [spoiler=Support B]Wolt: Sir Lance? What are you doing? Lance: Ah, Wolt. I am keeping a record of this battle. Wolt: A record? Lance: Oh, yes. There is a quote from one of my favorite books. "Information is the most powerful weapon in any battle." And so, I keep track of our allies and enemies and what goes on where. Wolt: I see. Lance: In the battles ahead, one mistake could lead to our doom. I must pay heed to every aspect of battle for Lord Roy. Wolt: Y-you're right! Lance: ...It's time. I must be off. *leaves* Wolt: Amazing... I should do like him! [spoiler=Support A]Wolt: Oh, Sir Lance. Lance: Wolt... Are you all right? Your eyes look rather red... Wolt: Yes! I'm fine. I was just reading the book on tactics that you lent me. Lance: That's good. Were you up reading it all night? Wolt: Actually, yes! Lance: All right. You might be interested in another I have by the same author. He describes his ideas in extreme detail over 24 volumes. Wolt: ...... Lance: After studying it, you should master the basics fairly easily. After that, we can go into more advanced details... Wolt? Are you listening? Wolt: ...... Y...yes! Of course! I'll do my best... Sue [spoiler=Support C]Wolt: All right, where's the next enemy? Sue: ...... Wolt: Hm? Do you need something, Sue? Sue: You use a bow, too. Wolt: Yeah, I do. Sue: Why don't you ride a horse? Wolt: I've always fought like this. On my feet. Sue: Isn't it hard to fight on the ground? Wolt: No, not really. I mean, I think it would be harder trying to shoot from horseback. Sue: I see... *leaves* Wolt: Uh, Sue? ...What was that all about? [spoiler=Support B]Sue: Wolt. Wolt: Oh, hi, Sue. Sue: I think it's better to fight on horseback. Wolt: What? ...You mean with a bow? Sue: Yes. With a horse, it's easier to approach and retreat from your target. Wolt: Well, to each their own... Wait, did you try getting off your horse and shooting from the ground? Sue: Yes. I wanted to try it. Wolt: You could have hurt yourself! You can't try new ways of fighting like that during a battle! Sue: No, it wasn't in battle. I just shot at some trees near the camp. Wolt: Oh... Sue: Thank you. Wolt: For what? Sue: Thank you for being so concerned about me. Wolt: Well... We're allies, right? [spoiler=Support A]Sue: Wolt? What's the matter? You're out of breath. Wolt: ...It sure is tough trying to keep up with a horse... I mean, I remember you said it was easier to approach your target. So... Sue: You tried it? Wolt: I thought I may as well. Sue: What did you think? Wolt: Well, a horse's speed is unbeatable. But still, I'm more stable on foot... Sue: You said it was dangerous to try new ways of fighting in battle. Wolt: ...Oh, I did, didn't I? I only tried it for a bit. It's okay. Sue: If you want the advantage of a horse's speed, you can ride behind me. Wolt: That's all right with you? Sue: I don't think you'll be able to shoot very well, though... Wolt: Shoot? I don't think I'd be able to stay on, let alone shoot! I think I'll stay on the ground. It feels more natural to me. Sue: Ha ha ha. That is probably for the best.
  14. Good news, you're getting a bonus today. And it's not in any way because you can't have one red cavalier without a green-armored companion. LANCE Marcus [spoiler=Support C]Marcus: Lance, have you gotten used to serving House Pherae? Lance: Yes, Sir Marcus. Everyone has been very good to me despite the fact that I'm an outsider... Marcus: I see. That is good to hear. Lance: You have been very caring as well, Sir Marcus. Marcus: Of course. I need you especially. Lance: Really? Me? Marcus: You possess experiences the other knights do not. Lance: Do I...? Marcus: Yes, you do. Those traits will be of great help to Lord Roy in the future. Lance: ...... [spoiler=Support B]Lance: Sir Marcus. Marcus: Yes, Lance? Lance: You said before that I had experiences the other knights do not. Marcus: That I did. Lance: I cannot see what those experiences are. I am but a young knight. I think you see more in me than there actually is. Marcus: I think not. Lance: I will use what experience I have, but I don't know that I can help especially. I served a different lord until just recently, after all... Marcus: And that is it. Lance: Sorry? Marcus: That is the experience the others do not have. Lance: Oh... Marcus: Lord Roy will take the throne of Pherae. If he is surrounded by only those of Pherae, his views will lack scope. We need someone like you. You know other parts of the world firsthand. Lance: Will that experience...really be of use? Marcus: You must make it so. Lord Roy must grow into an individual with global views. [spoiler=Support A]Marcus: Lance. Lance: Ah, Sir Marcus. Marcus: Lord Roy said that you told him stories of other lands. Lance: If my experience can be of use to Lord Roy, then I will do my best to teach him. Marcus: Very good. Then it seems that I can retire with no worries. Lance: Sir Marcus, what are you saying? We still have much to learn from you. Marcus: Not if we have you. You can take my place once I am gone. Lance: Me? But I'm not even a native of Pherae... Marcus: Are you still worrying yourself over that? Lord Roy certainly isn't. Lance: ...Very well. If you wish it, I shall take your place when the time comes. But that won't happen for many years. You are still well. You are an example to us all. Marcus: Perhaps. But we all must step down eventually. Wolt [spoiler=Support C]Lance: ...... I must be off. *leaves* Wolt: Amazing... I should do like him! [spoiler=Support A]Wolt: Oh, Sir Lance. Lance: Wolt... Are you all right? Your eyes look rather red... Wolt: Yes! I'm fine. Lance: After studying it, you should master the basics fairly easily. After that, we can go into more advanced details... Wolt? Are you listening? Wolt: ...... Y...yes! Of course! I'll do my best... Allen [spoiler=Support C]Allen: Lance! How fares your sword today? Lance: Neither good nor bad, Allen. Allen: ...Cool and calm as always, I see. I may have lagged behind you the other day, but not in this battle! Watch and learn from my skill, Lance! Lance: Of course I'll watch. We can all learn from one another. Don't expect me to lower myself to your level, though. Allen: Well, look at you! I look forward to sparring when the battle's done. I'll be off then. You'd better hurry along too. [spoiler=Support B]Lance: Allen, the battles will only get more difficult from here on. Allen: I know, but a challenge is just what I want. Lance: Allen, I have something to request of you. If we lose. Allen: If we lose? Lance: Yes. ...If it ever looks like defeat is certain, I want you to take Lord Roy and retreat. I will act as a decoy for the enemy and buy you time. Allen: What? But what about you? Lance: If it has to be one of us, it may as well be me. I've served House Pherae the shortest, so-- Allen: Have you lost your mind?! Lance: ...Allen? Allen: If you're staying, then so will I. I won't allow you to run headfirst into certain death alone. Lance: But you're one of a long line of knights serving House Pherae. It's better that you take Lord Roy and flee. Allen: How long you've served means nothing! Let me ask you this. Do you consider yourself any less loyal than the other knights? Lance: ...... Allen: No answer? Then allow me. You're just as valuable as any of us! You've held to your knightly vows admirably! I've been your partner ever since you came to House Pherae so I know that well! Lance: Allen... Allen: Don't throw your life away, Lance. Lord Roy needs you. We all do. [spoiler=Support A]Lance: Allen, about before... Allen: You mean about if we lose? Still intending to sacrifice yourself? Or something even more ludicrous? Lance: No, you're right. Your words were a slap in the face. Perhaps I was belittling myself because I've served House Pherae the shortest. Allen: Your work is second to none. Well, second to mine, but that's a given. Lance: Where does your confidence come from? I envy you sometimes. Allen: I'm confident simply because I know I could never lose to you. Lance: ...I'll make you eat those words after I beat you today. Allen: Hah, not likely! See you after the battle! Lance: Of course. Allen: And Lance? Lance: Yes? Allen: Even if we lose, you won't be left behind! Remember that! Lance: Of course! Lot [spoiler=Support C]Lance: You are Lot the mercenary. Roy [spoiler=Support C]Lance: Lord Roy! Are you unharmed? Roy: Lance? What's the matter? Lance: I lost sight of you for a moment so I assumed the worst... Roy: Oh. Is that all? Don't worry so much. Lance: No, Lord Roy. You lead this army. You must always be on your guard. Roy: Yes, you're right. I'll be more careful. Lance: Truly? Roy: I promise you. Lance: ...... [spoiler=Support B]Lance: Lord Roy, if I may offer a suggestion. Roy: What is it? Lance: I think you should stay behind the front lines. Roy: Well... Lance: I know what you're thinking, but please understand. As our leader, you are crucial to the army. If an army's leader is lost, then so is the battle. Roy: That's true... Lance: Then please, milord, allow me to escort you this way... Roy: Wait. I have no right to order others if I prioritize my safety above all else. Lance: That's not true! Roy: I'm not exactly a genius, and I'm not especially charismatic, either. I have to gain everyone's trust by experiencing the same hardships. Lance: Lord Roy... Roy: I don't have that special something that makes someone a leader. That's why I need to fight up front along with everyone else. [spoiler=Support A]Roy: Lance, I've been thinking about what you said, but I still think that I should stay up front. I know you only think of keeping me safe, but... Lance: No, I may have been too forceful with my opinion. Do what you believe to be correct. Roy: Thank you. It puts my mind at ease to hear you say that. Lance: I still believe you were wrong about one thing, however. Roy: You do? Lance: You said that you're not a genius and that you lack charisma. Roy: Yes, I did say that. Lance: Your intelligence and charisma are exactly why people follow you. None would give their life for someone who lacks those traits. Roy: ...Do you think so? Lance: Of course. If you will allow me one piece of advice, no matter what happens, stay true to your heart. As long as you do that, your troops will follow you. Roy: I'll do my best. Thank you, Lance. Lance: It's my pleasure, milord. Clarine [spoiler=Support C]Clarine: Oh?
  15. ALLEN Tate [spoiler=Support C]Tate: You! Wait! Allen: You... You must be a pegasus knight from Ilia. Pleased to meet you. I am Allen, knight of Pherae. Tate: I'm Tate. But listen, do you always-- Allen: So this is a pegasus? I've never seen one up close. Its face is so cute. Tate: Wow, thank you... I mean, let me finish! Do you always fight like that? Allen: So what if I do? Tate: Don't you think you're too rash? If you fight that way you can't be sure you'll come out alive. Allen: I know my fighting style can be dangerous. But, you see... Oh, chatting like this will give the enemy an advantage. I must be alert. Farewell. *leaves* Tate: ...There's something wrong with him. [spoiler=Support B]Tate: Wait! Wait! Allen: Tate? Is something wrong? Tate: Please, tell me. Why do you fight like that? Your lanceplay leaves you open... Why do you rely on brute strength to attack? You won't be able to retaliate properly that way. Allen: You've been watching me, haven't you? Tate: Huh? N-no... Not you in particular! It's just that... I can't ignore you when you fight like that. That's all. Really. Allen: ? Tate: Anyway, the point is, you should fight more cautiously. Allen: I understand your concern. But I can't hold back. Tate: But if you keep fighting like that, you'll-- Allen: In battle, the first to match blades with the enemy are us. The knights. The enemy will judge the entire army by looking at how we fight. That's why I have to show them my full power. Tate: ...... Allen: If I cringe even a little, the enemy will know we can be defeated. If I hesitate, then our army's morale will suffer... That's why I charge ahead. I have to keep pushing forward. For the army. For victory. Tate: ...That makes sense. ...And here I thought you were just a careless idiot... Allen: Did you say something just now? Tate: ...No, nothing. Allen: I'm sorry, but I have to fight like this. Still, I respect your advice. Tell me more when you have a chance. Tate: ...Very well, I suppose. [spoiler=Support A]Tate: ...You haven't changed your fighting style, I see. Allen: Tate. Tate: How long will you continue fighting like that? I understand why you do...but if you perish, that's the end. Allen: I know that well. There is only so much I can do on my own. But I am a knight, so it is my duty... Tate: If that's the case...then will you allow me to stay by you? Allen: Why...? Tate: If...if I leave you on your own, I worry and...I can't focus! So I want to support you by staying close. Or...am I not good enough for you...? Allen: Of course you are! You're strong, you can keep up with my horse, and... With you around, it seems that I always come out unharmed. I can trust you to guard my back. Tate: But... Really? You'll take me? Allen: Of course! You're a strong warrior. I couldn't ask for a better partner. Tate: That...that's not what I meant... Allen: I'm sorry? Tate: I mean...the point is...we'll be together...and, I mean... Allen: I don't understand. Tate: ...Never mind. Forget it... Well, come on, then. Let's go. The battle awaits us. Allen: Yes, we ride together! Marcus [spoiler=Support C]Allen: Where's the next enemy...? Marcus: Allen. Allen: Oh, Sir Marcus. Marcus: You have been performing well lately. Allen: Thank you, sir. Marcus: However, you tend to charge headfirst into enemy lines. Your duty is to protect Lord Roy. You must think more. Allen: Think more...? What's there to think about? Defeating the enemy protects Lord Roy! Marcus: What if an enemy made it past you and Lord Roy was hurt? You wouldn't be able to make it back to save him. Allen: That's never happened... Marcus: But it could happen eventually. Allen: What must I do? Marcus: Take your time in battle. Allen: Take my time...? [spoiler=Support B]Allen: Sir Marcus. Marcus: Allen. What's troubling you? Allen: I need your guidance... Marcus: My guidance? Allen: You told me to take my time in battle. Does that mean I've been fighting wrong this whole time? Marcus: Not at all. But you only know one way of fighting. Allen: There's more than one way...? Marcus: Your courage is not a bad trait. Indeed, it is praiseworthy. I'm simply concerned you may leave Lord Roy to fend for himself. Allen: You're right... Marcus: A knight must consider each situation and adapt accordingly. Charging ahead is not always the correct way. [spoiler=Support A]Marcus: Allen, your fighting has improved. Allen: Thanks to you... I am trying to adapt my fighting style to each situation. Marcus: Good. Hmm. You might be ready to take over for me. Allen: What do you mean? Marcus: I have grown old. I must make way for the new generation. I trust Lord Roy will be safe in your hands. Allen: M-me...? Marcus: Are you embarrassed to take the place of an old man? Allen: Of course not! It would be an honor! I shall protect Lord Roy with my life and Pherae will prosper-- Marcus: Calm yourself. Your passion is all that worries me. Allen: Yes, you're right... Marcus: Just try to control your emotions. Lord Roy is still young. You must grow with him. As a knight, and as a person. Wolt [spoiler=Support C]Allen: 498... 499... 500... Wolt: Sir Allen? Allen: Whew... Ah, Wolt. Wolt: You're sweating so profusely... Are you all right? Allen: Don't worry. I'm fine. I was just doing some practice swings with my sword. I'm still weak. I must train myself further. Wolt: But...we're in the middle of a battle. Shouldn't you be saving your energy for an emergency, Sir Allen? Allen: ...Silence! An enemy! Let's go, Wolt! Don't lag behind! *leaves* Wolt: Wha--? Y-yes, Sir Allen! [spoiler=Support B]Allen: 998! ...999! ...1000...! Wolt: Sir Allen! Allen: Ah...huff...Wolt... Good to...huff...see you...huff...again... Wolt: M-must you train so hard in battle? The enemy won't have much left to fight if you're like that! Allen: Maybe I'm crazy...but yes, I have to do it. The continent feels bigger and bigger the more we fight. Wolt: Yes. Who knows what we may be up against next? Allen: We must break through our own limits and become stronger. We must be able to stand against any so we can protect Lord Roy. Wolt: You're right! Allen: All right... I've caught my breath. Let's go! *leaves* Wolt: He's amazing... But I can't let him get ahead of me! [spoiler=Support A]Wolt: 98... 99... Allen: Wolt? Wolt: Sir Allen! Allen: Are you training now, too? Wolt: Yes, well, after seeing you, I couldn't just sit around doing nothing. I have to become strong to protect Lord Roy as well. Allen: There you go. That's the spirit! Become strong, and surprise even Lord Roy! Wolt: Yes! Lance [spoiler=Support C]Allen: Lance! Wade [spoiler=Support C]Allen: You... Roy [spoiler=Support C]Roy: Hmm... Allen: Is something wrong, Lord Roy? Roy: ...... Allen: Lord Roy! Roy: Oh! Allen. Sorry, I was lost in my thoughts. Allen: You seem to be thinking a lot these days, Lord Roy. Roy: Maybe so... Allen: What are you worried about? Roy: I was just thinking about how to move our troops. Allen: How to move the troops? Roy: The enemy grows stronger all the time so strategies quickly become obsolete. I was wondering how to effectively break through their defensive lines. Allen: That's easy, Lord Roy! Just allow me to charge in. I will shatter their shields and pierce their armor! Roy: Thanks for the offer, but I don't want to put you in danger. There must be another way... I'll think on it some more. [spoiler=Support B]Allen: Lord Roy, I have an idea of how to break through the enemy's defenses... Roy: An idea? Allen: We leave our best troops behind, and send the weaker ones to the front lines. Once the enemies are weakened, the stronger troops will be able to finish them. Please, allow me to be in the front lines with the other weaker soldiers! Roy: But then we would risk losing you and everyone you're with... Allen: We might suffer some casualties, but we will win the battle! Roy: ...Allen, I can't use that idea. Allen: W-why not, milord? Roy: I can't use a strategy that I know will cause casualties. Allen: But Lord Roy, casualties are unavoidable in war... Roy: ...I think not. It may be naive to say so, but a victory with casualties is no victory at all. Allen: You want a complete victory... Is that possible in war? Roy: I think it is. We need another plan. [spoiler=Support A]Roy: Hmm... Allen: Still thinking, Lord Roy? Roy: Yes, I haven't thought of a good strategy yet... But yours is out of the question, understand? Allen: Yes, Lord Roy. But if there's anything I can do, please don't hesitate to ask. Roy: I won't. Allen: ...Lord Roy. Roy: Yes? Allen: ...To be honest, I'm not sure I agree that a complete victory is possible. But if that's what you believe, then I will support you any way I can. Roy: Thank you, Allen. I will prove to you that we can win without casualties. Allen: I look forward to the day of our glorious victory!
  16. MARCUS Roy [spoiler=Support C]Roy: What's the matter, Marcus? Marcus: They're not good. Not good at all. Roy: What's not good? Marcus: The young recruits. Their combat skills leave much to be desired. Granted, not all of them are disappointments, but most are soft! What they need is a more intense training regimen... Roy: I don't know if I'd call anyone soft... Everyone's working hard. Marcus: My Lord Roy, you are far too easy on them. I shall go and teach them how we used to do things! Roy: Just don't work yourself too hard. You're not as...well, youthful as you used to be. Marcus: Nonsense! I may be getting on in years, but I'm still more than a match for the youth! Roy: If you think more training is what they need, then go ahead. Just take care not to overwork yourself. Age can be cruel. Marcus: Of course, my lord. Thank you for your concern. Roy: *leaves* Marcus: Lord Roy is such a caring and thoughtful young master... The other youths we have can't even compare... It's a disgrace! I'm the only one who can be of any use to Lord Roy. [spoiler=Support B]Marcus: Lord Roy, I believe training needs to be made more difficult. Roy: More difficult? Marcus: Yes, my lord. And those who fail to perform up to par should be discharged. Roy: ...... Marcus: Such rules may make our numbers small, but we will be an army of elites. That would increase our combat efficiency several times over. Roy: No, Marcus. I don't think so. Marcus: What...? Why not? Roy: Who's to judge whether someone is performing up to par? Marcus: Why, you, naturally, Lord Roy. Roy: But some soldiers may excel while I'm not looking. Marcus: Ah, yes... Well, in that case... Roy: We also have people supporting us off the battlefield, and yet more who simply haven't yet had a chance to shine. I couldn't discharge such soldiers. Many have joined us thanks to their belief in our fight. I can't simply tell them to leave. Marcus: ...... Roy: Marcus, try to trust them. We're all working together. Marcus: ...You are right. I was mistaken, Lord Roy. Your ideas are noble. Roy: It's strange to hear you praise me. I'm more used to hearing you scold me. Marcus: Oh? Are you? Roy: Yes. But thank you, Marcus. *leaves* Marcus: Lord Roy... He has grown into a fine young man... I'm certain he can make it on his own. My work is nearly complete... [spoiler=Support A]Roy: Marcus, is something wrong? You seem unwell. Marcus: I apologize, my lord. I have been considering retirement... Age has worn me down... Roy: Retirement? Marcus: The young soldiers have grown strong. Perhaps now is the time. Roy: ...Marcus. You can't be serious. Marcus: I have grown old... A feeble old man like me has no place at your side. It is time I made way for the next generation. Roy: No... Marcus: Yes, I will retire soon. Roy: No! I still need you! Marcus: Lord Roy... Roy: I'm sorry about what I said to you before. But you don't need to retire yet. Marcus: But I'm far too old... I shouldn't be fighting. Roy: I still have much to learn from you. If you leave...who can I turn to for advice? Marcus: Lord Roy... I had no idea you trusted me so much... * Roy: Don't retire yet... I need your help. Marcus: As you will, my lord. I shall serve you until the day I die. *Note: The dialogue advances without a button prompt here, but you knew that already. Allen [spoiler=Support C]Allen: Where's the next enemy...? Marcus: Allen. Allen: Oh, Sir Marcus. Marcus: You have been performing well lately. Allen: Thank you, sir. Marcus: However, you tend to charge headfirst into enemy lines. Your duty is to protect Lord Roy. Lord Roy is still young. You must grow with him. As a knight, and as a person. Lance [spoiler=Support C]Marcus: Lance, have you gotten used to serving House Pherae? Wolt [spoiler=Support C]Wolt: Sir Marcus! Lilina [spoiler=Support C]Lilina: Hello, Marcus. Marcus: Ah, Lady Lilina. Lilina: Things grow more perilous all the time... Marcus, do you think Roy will be OK? Marcus: Of course, milady. Lord Roy takes after his father, the greatest knight in Lycia. Lilina: Yes... Lord Eliwood is a great knight indeed. Marcus: His wife was also a kind, gentle woman. Much like yourself, if I may say so. Lilina: Wow... Do you really think so? Marcus: Lord Roy is becoming very much like his father. I expect him to seek a wife much like Lord Eliwood's. Lilina: Like his mother...? Marcus: Milady, if you would allow me a suggestion. When all is done and we return to Lycia, you and Lord Roy should w-- Lilina: Marcus! Roy and I are friends. Just friends! It's too soon to think of marriage! [spoiler=Support B]Lilina: Marcus, what kind of couple were Lord Eliwood and his wife? Marcus: Well, milady, just looking at them would fill one with cheer. The people of Pherae were truly happy for them. Lilina: That sounds nice... Marcus: Lord Eliwood loved his wife deeply. One night...before the two were wed, Lord Eliwood disappeared. He returned three days later, and presented his wife a flower. It was a beautiful white flower that grows only in the snowy highlands. And it was the flower she loved the most. Lilina: Lord Eliwood sounds so...romantic. Sigh... And look at Roy... [spoiler=Support A]Lilina: Sigh... Marcus: What troubles you, Lady Lilina? Lilina: Marcus... What does...what does Roy think of me? I...I'm not so sure anymore. Marcus: ...... Lilina: Roy... He's... I've always...liked him... Marcus: Why not ask him yourself, milady? Lilina: What...? But... Marcus: I do not know much of these matters, but the maids in the castle say that women can no longer be passive. I'm certain Lord Roy would fall for you if you were to advance. Lilina: ...... Yes... That's what I'll do. I've known him longer than anyone. I won't let someone else snatch him up! Marcus: That's the spirit, Lady Lilina! Typos I find have an "[sic]". I can go ahead and bold these if they prove hard to find. And on another syntax-related note, here is the key for the various common blocking notes: *approaches*—they fade in *runs up to*—they come in from offscreen *flinches*/*trips*/anything similar to that—they do that bobbing thing *leaves*—they fade out Anything else that's not on here I can explain either as it's posted or on request.
  17. ROY Lilina [spoiler=Support C]Roy: Lilina, are you all right? Do you need anything? Lilina: No, I'm fine. Roy: Are you hurt? Lilina: No, all is well. Roy: Very well, then. If there's anything I can do for you-- Lilina: Roy, it's all right. Roy: What? Lilina: Thanks for worrying about me, but I'm fine. Roy: Well, if you say so... But if you ever need anything, tell me. Lilina: I will. [spoiler=Support B]Roy: Lilina. Lilina! Lilina: Hm? Roy? Roy: What's the matter? You were spacing out again. This is a battlefield. You could get killed! Lilina: I'm sorry. Roy: What's wrong? Lilina: It's just that...we've come so far. Roy: Have we? Lilina: I'm not talking about distance... It's just that everything seems to have changed so quickly. Do you remember back when you first came to Ostia to study? Roy: Of course. It was two years ago... Wait, or was it three years ago? Lilina: Our fathers were still both well. Lycia was peaceful... No one could have imagined this war. ...It was only a few years ago, yet it feels like an eternity. Roy: Lilina... Lilina: Oh, just listen to me... There's no going back to those days, is there...? [spoiler=Support A]Lilina: Roy...I'm sorry about before. Roy: Before? Lilina: I was reminiscing about before the war. It's all changed... I need to accept that nothing will ever be the same... Roy: No, some things will never change. Lilina: Like what? Roy: Like us. We'll always be together. Lilina: Huh...? Roy: We can't go back to the past, but we're the ones who will build the future. We'll make the future as good as--no, better than the past. Lilina: Ha ha ha... Roy: What? Lilina: It's you. Talking like that. Are you trying to charm me? Roy: W-was it that obvious? Yeah, I guess it was a little overly grand... Lilina: But really... Roy: Hm? Lilina: Thanks... Roy: Lilina... Lilina: And you're right... We'll be together forever. Roy: ...Of course. Marcus [spoiler=Support C]Roy: What's the matter, Marcus? *Note: The dialogue advances without a button prompt here; is that normal? Wolt [spoiler=Support C]Roy: Wolt! Cecilia [spoiler=Support C]Cecilia: How should I move next, Roy? Roy: Oh, yes. You should... ...Um... Cecilia: What's the matter? Roy: Nothing. It's just that... It feels so strange giving you orders... Cecilia: Why? You lead this army. Who else would give me orders? Roy: Even so... Cecilia: Roy, you mustn't go soft. If a leader gets soft, then so will the troops. You are a general leading an army, and I am your soldier. Be strict and assertive, as a general should be. Roy: Y-yes, you're right! Cecilia: Good. Now, General Roy, what is my next move? [spoiler=Support B]Roy: Yawn... Cecilia: Roy. Roy: Oh, General Cecilia. Cecilia: Are you tired? Perhaps you should rest. Roy: I can't. We must keep moving. Cecilia: Rushing forward will only lead us to failure. Roy: I'm not rushing, but we must move as quickly as possible. Cecilia: Why? Roy: The quicker we move, the more lives will be saved. Cecilia: ...Yes, that's true. Roy: We fight to win this war. But how can we call it a victory with the deaths of so many innocents? Cecilia: ...... Roy: Oh, I'm sorry... I didn't mean to talk back to you. Are you cross with me? Cecilia: Not at all. I was too focused on a simple victory. You are already becoming a worthy leader. Roy: Please, enough flattery... But...hearing it from you is encouraging. Cecilia: Really? That's nice to hear. [spoiler=Support A]Roy: What are you going to do once this war is over? Cecilia: Sorry? Do you think you've won already? Roy: No... Not at all. Cecilia: Well...We must rebuild Etruria, so first I will go home. Why do you ask? Roy: I was wondering if you could teach me more after the war. Cecilia: Like I did in Ostia? Roy: Exactly! Cecilia: There's no need for that now. You've become a true leader. There is nothing left for me to teach you. Roy: But... Cecilia: Roy, you must have confidence. Troops will not follow a leader who lacks confidence. Roy: ...Yes, you're right. Cecilia: That is my last lesson for you. You are no longer a student. You are a colleague and a friend. So if there's anything I can assist you with after the war, it would be my pleasure to help you. Roy: Really? Cecilia: Of course. I will always be on your side. Never forget that. Sophia [spoiler=Support C]Sophia: Lord Roy... Roy: Sophia? What's the matter? Sophia: Please...don't strain yourself today... Roy: What do you mean? Sophia: I sense something ominous...in this battle... Please stay off the front lines... Roy: ...I understand. But I'm not sure I'll be able to pay full heed to your warning. Sophia: ...Why not? Roy: When I go up front...it's because I trust the others. I can't hide myself in the back in fear. I have to fight alongside everyone else. Sophia: Oh...I... Roy: I appreciate the warning, but...I'm sorry. Sophia: ...... [spoiler=Support B]Sophia: Lord Roy... Roy: Sophia? Do you sense something? Sophia: No... I just wanted to apologize... Roy: Apologize? To me? Sophia: About before... I told you I sensed something ominous about the battle... Roy: Oh, that... Sophia: I'm sorry... You already have much on your mind... I shouldn't have burdened you so... Roy: No, it's all right. I'm actually glad that you told me. I was more cautious that day. Thank you. Sophia: ...? Roy: If you hadn't told me anything, I wouldn't have been so cautious. I may have been hurt badly. So thanks. Sophia: But...I... Roy: Tell me if you sense anything. It's a great help. Sophia: Yes... I will... [spoiler=Support A]Sophia: Lord Roy... I must tell you something... Roy: What's the matter? Sophia: My power...is weak... Roy: What? Sophia: I can see the future...but only blurry images... I may not see...something truly powerful... Roy: Something truly powerful? Sophia: Yes... If I fail to sense something powerful...and if you are hurt... Roy: Thanks, but I'll be fine. We'll figure it out when the time comes. Sophia: But... Roy: Sensing the future is an amazing ability. We can prevent disasters before they even occur. But I won't rely on your power too much, so don't worry. Sophia: Thank you... Roy: I'm more concerned about your well-being than your predictions. I'm sure we'll face many hardships as we continue... But keep your spirits up and there's nothing we can't overcome. Let's go! Sophia: You're right... Thank you...Lord Roy... Sue [spoiler=Support C]Roy: Whew, I've finally finished outlining the troops' positions... Sue: Lord Roy. Roy: Huh?! Oh, Sue. Hello. Sue: What's the matter? You have a strange look on your face. Roy: I was just surprised that you spoke to me. Sue: Oh? Roy: Yes... I never see you speaking with other people. You don't like talking much, do you? Sue: That's not it. Roy: It isn't? Sue: I simply prefer communing with nature over people. Roy: Nature? Sue: The breeze, the trees, the sky, the brooks... They all speak to us. Roy: They do? Sue: They do. Listen and you'll hear them. You can't hear them simply because you don't listen. I bid you farewell for now. Roy: Wait, you didn't have anything to tell me? Sue: I did. I told you. Roy: What? Sue: Listen to nature, and you'll hear all sorts of voices. It will bring you peace of mind and sould [sic]. You won't be able to hear them if you're tense all the time. Roy: Sue... Sue: *leaves* Roy: Was she trying to help me because I look so tired...? Thank you, Sue. [spoiler=Support B]Roy: Sue. Sue: Lord Roy? Roy: Thanks for your advice. Sue: ...You look better. Roy: Do I? Sue: Your aura...has improved. Roy: What do you mean? Sue: It is softer. More comfortable. Roy: Do you think so? I can't really tell. Sue: Hm hm hm... Perhaps such things cannot be sensed by those who work the land. Roy: ...... Sue: What is it? Roy: That's the first time I've heard you laugh. Sue: Really? Roy: Yes. Your laugh has a good aura to it, too. Sue: ...Thank you. [spoiler=Support A]Roy: What are you going to do when this war is over? Sue: I'll return to Sacae. Roy: But wasn't the Kutolah clan destroyed by Bern...? Sue: We will gather everyone once more. Perhaps the Kutolah name is no more, but our clansmen survive. Roy: That's... Well, I guess that's the right thing to do. Sue: Why do you ask? Roy: I thought if you had no place to go that you could come to Pherae. Sue: Pherae... Your home. Roy: Right... It's not a huge area, but it's a nice and peaceful place. Sue: It would be nice... But my heart belongs in the plains of Sacae. Roy: I understand. But tell me if you ever change your mind. Sue: Lord Roy. Roy: Yes? Sue: Thank you for your concern. Roy: You're very welcome. Shanna [spoiler=Support C]Shanna: What's the matter, Lord Roy? Hmm... Lalum [spoiler=Support C]Lalum: *rushes at Roy* Lord Roy! Roy: *backs up* Wha--?! L-Lalum...! Lalum: I finally found you! I want to show you something. Roy: W-wait! Just take it easy... Lalum: *moves back* Roy: What...was it you wanted to show me? Lalum: *rushes at Roy* It's like this! Roy: H-hold on a moment. I can hear you from over here... Lalum: *she and Roy return to neutral positions* I want you to see the new dance I came up with. It goes like this... Step and twirl, step and twirl... So? What do you think? Roy: It was very nice. I think you're an exceptionally skilled dancer. Lalum: ...Is that it? Roy: Huh? Lalum: You don't...have more to say? Like, "Beautiful!" or, "Lovely!" or, "Your hair looks nice today!" Or something like that... Roy: Erm...I had better get going... Lalum: Already? Roy: Yeah, sorry... Lalum: Sigh... [spoiler=Support B]Lalum: *rushes at Roy* Lord Roy! Roy: *backs up* L-Lalum...! I don't think you should grab on to people like that... It might cause a misunderstanding. Lalum: But Lord Roy... ...... Oh!! Roy: What? Lalum: Eeek! An enemy! Roy: Enemy?! Where?! Lalum: I don't know! But I heard a rustling in the bushes... Roy: L-Lalum! Calm down... I can't move if you're hanging off me like that... Lalum: I'm going to die! But...that's OK. If I can die protecting you, Lord Roy, I will die in peace. You, hiding in the bushes! Show yourself! Our love is eternal and can never be broken! Roy: P-please, get off of me so I can fight... [spoiler=Support A]Lalum: Lord Roy! Roy: Lalum... Lalum: There you are! I have another dance to show you. Roy: Y-yeah... Lalum: Lord Roy...? Are you...avoiding me? Roy: Ah... N-no! Not at all. Lalum: You are so. I saw you step back when I came. You're bracing yourself so you can dodge me. Roy: Y-you're imagining things. Lalum: Don't look away when you talk to me... Roy: B-but... Lalum: ...... You don't like me... You don't want to see my dancing at all! That's it, isn't it?! Roy: Th-that's not true!! Lalum: *rushes at Roy* Really?! Thanks! That makes me so happy! Roy: *steps back* Whoa! Allen [spoiler=Support C]Roy: Hmm... Lance [spoiler=Support C]Lance: Lord Roy!
  18. Yes, this will be all in-game. It was indeed QUITE time-consuming, but I believe it's worth it, given what I've seen of the script.
  19. In celebration of version 0.99 of gringe's revamp of the Fire Emblem: Binding Blade translation, I felt it was time to post the Support Log for the game, as there isn't one in-game. Here's how it'll be done: For the next few days, I'll post the conversations for all of the characters starting with Roy and ending at Karel, one or two per day. This first post will be updated as the conversations are posted, so you can jump to any character in question once this is all said and done. 20. Actually, wait a second... "If they have 4 HP or 5 HP"? Don't you mean "5 HP or 6 HP", given the 5.6 result?
  21. Argh, that page keeps screaming "WORD PROBLEM" at me. That is one part of working through math up to calculus that I did not miss. Is it possible for someone to post an example or formula of this in action?
  22. I had done the same test as well before, but it had just seemed so strange to me then that I felt I had to ask. Thanks for the confirmation. Man, just-promoted mooks really get the short end of the stick, don't they?
  23. I've been playing through the GBA games, and something occurred to me that makes me curious: How do those promoted non-boss enemies get the stats they do? [spoiler=Examples] The base stats listed for the promoted classes don't really match for the levels shown (too much HP, for one), and as the second image shows, promotion gains aren't a factor either. So perhaps they gain a different amount of levels compared to their non-promoted counterparts. If that is indeed the case, does anyone know how many levels that is, exactly? Do they "promote" at Lv. 10 or the next-closest opportunity and grow from there? This isn't really crucial or anything. I'm just wondering if anyone on here knows of the inner workings on this.
  24. Slowly cracking away at this...I had really written myself into a corner once or twice, surviving by the skin of Fa's teeth, but despite it all, my playthrough still lives... [spoiler=In case this knowledge must remain secret]All because I want to keep hearing that victory music lifted from Trails in the Sky. yaayyy "Target Vanquished!" As a Falcom fan, this is totally a reward...even though it makes the wait for the release of the First and Second Chapters on Steam even harder.
