  1. I think that's a general problem with all the character designs (though I still like most of them).
  2. I tend to to take longer than advertised, so I'm guessing around 100 hours per house. I still appreciate long games, if they're good of course. And I'm not too worried about that when it comes to this game. So I'd say this is good news.
  3. They offered some kind of interaction though. Eating your food, following you around, showing mood including running in circles, showing you where treasures are buried and maybe more I don't recall. In Three Houses they seem kind of oblivious.
  4. Yes me too. Perhaps a more plausible explanation, although one that I cannot approve of. I think all these changes just go to show how games are valued compared to novels etc. In any case I'm pleased that they've finally come to their senses regarding Fire Emblem. Now I've forgotten, was it Treehouse this time around? They've been one of the biggest offenders in the past with some quite extreme localisation practices when it comes to some other games.
  5. In other words most of those people were in their mid or upper 20s back in 1994. Doesn't seem to explain the change at all.
  6. This. There are some I'll probably like more, but in general they're all fine. That hat though.
  7. I can understand that part and was aware that it's a common name in English speaking countries. I thought it was a generational thing reading that post though. I mean we have a lot of names here for example which are very common but mostly among the older generations. But trends come and go, some were popular 30 years ago but not anymore. While some of the names popular maybe 60 years ago are starting to become popular again. Though English names have been dominating for quite a while and continue to do so, so I can imagine a lot of parents making the same mistake here (being that they name their children English names they think sound cool but which may be seen as very out of date in the UK, US etc.) At the same time traditional Scandinavian names are quite popular in games including Fire Emblem, but not so over here. But yes even I can totally see that Demon Lord Dave would sound ridiculous. : D
  8. Is that how people would have seen it 25 years ago (when the translation happened) as well though? I don't live in a country where it's a common name (for any generation), so I wouldn't have a clue.
  9. That's great. Keep it up and they will eventually look fantastic! But yes, it's something every artist struggles with and usually for a long time.
  10. Her arm and hand looks off and her neck may be a bit long. But generally your drawing looks nice and promising. I love traditional (non-digital) art, so it'd definitely be interesting to see you follow through with line art and coloring. I hope you'll feel brave enough to try it! And yes, linking should be allowed.
  11. I believe Switch uses the online functionality to do what the 3DS games did with StreetPass (meaning it won't interact with nearby Switch units at all). Unless I've missed something Switch doesn't have StreetPass functionality at all. Do correct me if I'm wrong though!
  12. I doubt they have modeled the academy in Three Houses after any 21th century military school in any country, so it's probably quite pointless to argue about the length of the education in those (it seems to vary a lot anyway, so everything would remain possible even if that was the case). I think we'll just have to wait and see.
  13. Ah yes, that's often a limit. Have you read Finnish mythology? Kalevala is available in English. That's a bit unfortunate, but it's possible to discern at a least. As for alteration, the sad thing is that a lot of it happened when it was initially recorded in writing. So unlike bad translations you can't go back and redo it.
  14. I don't know what to think about the exchange student thing. Going through menus in earlier games was fine, but seeing twins of my own students from another dimension running around will probably be very strange. I also hope they don't take away too much appeal from the regular market.
  15. I think this is the most definite proof. Although had they wanted to include more years this would have been a hurdle and therefore they may have thought of an excuse. It would be weird having all or most of the older students be generic NPCs. Also, even if the school opened this year for the first time, you'd have to include younger students during the second year as well. Though you could probably come up with an excuse there as well. That said I'd actually like the academy phase to be fairly long. I just like playing slow and taking my time as long as the management is fun enough. I don't want to have that deadline feeling close from the very beginning. A year in game (or even three if that happens to be the case) won't actually last that long for real. I wonder if the weather will change with the seasons by the way.
  16. No I don't expect everyone to know everything either if that's what it sounded like.
  17. Hah, I forgot. Yes that'll be interesting. I'll have some sympathy in that case though. A lot of the time I feel like it's just ignorance.
  18. Might be, but I don't think the known names in Three Houses so far will be as mispronounced as some of the earlier ones. Though you never know!
  19. Knowing the correct pronunciation from the start, I still find it funny. Though I don't watch a whole lot of videos so I haven't gotten used to it. People get the Scandinavian names wrong too by the way.
  20. Maybe, but considering how they made a point of a student being able to switch back to an unlocked class without using another seal, it probably means they think you should have the possibility to experiment with different classes for at least some of your students. Meaning there should be at least a few more seals available than strictly needed. So if you don't waste seals trying different classes you could save them for new recruits instead.
  21. That's a big relief. I definitely agree with everything you said. Too bad they've already ruined localisation in other series with reoccurring characters. Hopefully Fire Emblem stays safe in the future.
  22. Even if that'd be the case it could be that they've been separated somehow. Born out of marriage or whatever reason.
  23. I think there are many ways they could make it fit in. It could be seen as a military base at that point, it seems well fortified after all. but with all or most of the functions intact. If you've played the Suikoden games you should know it's possible to make it work well.
  24. I also have mixed feelings. As has been said, this makes it easier to involve the students in the story and the developers would have had an opportunity to write more lines of conversation for each one of them. What worries me as a classic player is that it seems as if they built the game around casual. While I typically reset when a character dies, it seems like they haven't thought about permadeath. In the other games you could always find a replacement. What if there's none or they give you some kind of no-name character? Not something I'm happy with. Also a larger cast has always added a lot of replay value. I know there are three houses now, but with the amount of characters you had before, you could experience the game with different characters more than three times. Also chances are you will recruit your favorite characters from the other houses anyway, only leaving the ones you're less interested in for future playthroughs.
  25. As I stated above, he did expand on it a little later on. He was asked about amiibos several times.
