  1. I thought it was bad. Very few western dubs of Japanese games are good. But there are a few. Though I always prefer the original. I don't doubt that.
  2. If you're talking about OJ the streamer he actually said later that the person he talked to seemed to indicate there were more functions she couldn't tell him about. So items including weapons are confirmed, but not exclusively.
  3. Well, in my unpopular opinion all the English dubs range from bad to disastrous as well. I'm happy we get to pick the original dub this time around.
  4. We can only speculate at this point, but here's what I think: It's the 32GB cards that are expensive and considering it's a somewhat high profile first (second) party game, they probably won't scrimp on it. Especially not in Japan. The game will fit on the 16GB variety (they don't offer anything between 8 and 16), so I also think there's a chance the Japanese voice pack will be included in the western versions. Though the European version will have to store yet additional languages as well. Still, there's 4GB left for additional voice data. That wasn't the case with Warriors however, but that game was slightly larger at 13 and I also think making Japanese voices available was decided at an earlier stage this time as they probably noticed the demand and were able to confirm it at E3 already. I don't know when they made that announcement for Warriors though, I never played it.

    BOO!

Thanks! And yes, I have many good memories.
  6. I don't remember, but did they state the Mars idea was also to be sci-fi? It actually wouldn't have to. Yes this is pretty much why. Sadly.
  7. Seems like nobody has linked to this article: https://www.famitsu.com/news/201906/22178192.html It has all the screenshots those pictures were taken from and in higher quality.
  8. That's nice, but the lack of time is a shame. I have yet to go there, but there are some very nice exhibitions at various museums across Scandinavia for sure. Oh, if they're all like the one you described it's all very sad indeed. Still seems interesting though Have you read a lot? That makes sense, luckily that's one of the most interesting collections of myths as well. It's just a shame most of it hasn't been left unaltered much like the Norse. But then some cultures have lot more or less everything.
  9. I really want to know some more skill strengths and weaknesses of the Golden Deer students before the game comes out. I'd like to plan ahead a little.
  10. It's a weekly magazine, so there could possibly be more articles.
  11. Some of them have depictions of scenes from the sagas. There's even this 11th century carving on a flat rock where you can follow the story left to right: Well, it could very well be. I just prefer to be careful about stating facts when there's still uncertainty. They are definitely interesting and even entertaining. What about Lithuanian myths? I haven't read any so far, but I've read about them.
  12. Yes I'm aware it's the most common theory cited online. I actually happen to have a degree in archaeology, having specialized on runestones. I've read up on tons about various etymology of the old Norse languages because of that. I'm not saying this in order to claim that my words are worth more than yours though, just letting you know the depth of my interest in the subject! : ) As for weekdays in particular I've only read into it on my free time, much like yourself I'm guessing. However, what I can say is that I've seen both Frigg and Freyja as possible candidates. And even Frey. Though if you've found some conclusive evidence I'd be interested to hear it, I must admit it has been quite a while since I really looked into it.

    BOO!

Thanks! You seem to be new here for real, so I welcome you as well! Hah, well it's somewhat crazy. But yeah, many of those playthroughs happened quite early on. Oh that nice, that's one of my interests as well. Though I haven't played traditional roleplaying games related to FE, despite actually playing with those same people on one occasion. So I have reason to envy you as well. As for life size grids, it seems you already have a group ready for you to convince! : D Yes well, although I obviously have my issues with the changes I can still appreciate it for what it is. And in some regards it did things better than earlier games as well. But most of all I don't like when people try argue that people aren't entitled to like whatever they like. Nice to meet you too!

    BOO!

Hah yes, we even played it in the rain! It was fun to see people mimicking attack animations from the game too. It has a quite interesting set of contents. Who doesn't want a white VHS tape?

    BOO!

Perhaps I should have outgrown the thread title by now, but it's a long tradition of mine. I would like to say hello to everyone I didn't manage to scare off though! I'm not technically new, but I've barely been present in the past, neither have I introduced myself before. I haven't been this eager to play a new game for ages, so I thought I'd get into the discussion. That's why I'm here now. My love for this series started out when I bought FE7 off a store shelf without really having any clue what kind of game it was, something that'd never happen today. I was completely sold after only one chapter. I've played it through well over twenty times by now. The rest about two or three times. I ran a local FE forum for a number of years. Not than many members but insanely active ones. We had real life meetups and even turned FE into a live dice game where we made grids in parks and acting as individual units on two teams. Yes we were crazy. I never liked the turn the series took with Awakening (although it's still a great game) and when the next few games lacked an option for Japanese voice acting I decided to wait until I've polished up my Japanese (I have some university studies behind me, but I still don't feel confident playing too story heavy games in Japanese). I have replayed some of the classic titles in that time however and got hold of the Thracia 776 Deluxe Pack during a trip to Japan a couple of years ago. But actually I've spent very little time playing games overall (especially newer ones) during the past few years. Edit: I should perhaps add the fact that FE also got me into pixel art, something I really enjoy. Although I moved onto original creations quite early and haven't done anything FE related for nearly a decade.
  16. I've preordered the European special edition. I would have preferred the Japanese outer box. I don't care much for steelbooks, but the artwork is nice. I'm worried about the contents of the artbook, it didn't seem to have much in the way of actual illustrations. I might end up only flipping it through once. I'm worried the music contained on the USB stick will be mp3 files rather than red book quality (I'd be up for trading it for a CD). I do however often wear a blazer and think it's fun to add a pin for some occasions, so I probably appreciate the pins slightly more than the average fan does. In conclusion I'm starting to wonder if I really need it, it's neither good or bad as it seems. I managed to preorder it at a price not all that much higher than for the standalone game however.
  17. Actually there's really no way to know for certain which god Friday is derrived from. There's no conclusion among researchers either. I can't remember any references in the sagas, so I'm not sure what you're referring to. But do remember that they were only told orally for the longest time and were only written down in the 13th century. In any case it's nice that you've found an interest in these things.
  18. It's a choice, but not a strange one. We may be getting used to FE becoming more mainstream since Awakening, but we can't expect it to get the same marketing as Super Mario even if I'd personally like that. Actually I tend to follow comments on other sites before and during Nintendo Directs etc. and there are usually a bunch of people being annoyed or worrying that they will show too much FE. Also back when SSB was coming out it seemed like everyone was saying things like "come on, not another FE character!" Basically I'm not sure forcing a lot of FE content would work in their favor. Then it wouldn't hurt to have separate videos or a separate FE centered Direct etc.
  19. I somewhat dislike the designs that look like J-pop singers on stage or trendy models you'd find in Japanese teen fashion magazines, they simply don't fit the setting but don't necessarily look awful. I'm mainly talking accessories and haircuts etc. Dorothea for example, she really looks out of place.
  20. Nice work putting this together, etymology is really interesting.
  21. I completely agree about her outfit (her posture looks really off at the selection screen as well) That's a terrible design for a number of reasons, but I'm not surprised. They've really opened up to this kind of content ever since they turned desparate for sales starting with Awakening. Luckily for me I was going to play as the male Byleth anyway and I'm perfectly fine with the way he looks. But I feel your pain. Hopefully the class change outfits are better as someone suggested. I personally don't have a problem with the female face and hair though, but I always find it harder to enjoy a game if I don't like the protagonist (including the design). So I can see why it matters to you.
  22. I actually bought a Japanese 3DS because I wanted the original Japanese voices, but also because it's a way to study Japanese. I see I'm not the only one! Some of these themes are quite nice, especially the Opera one.
  23. So, portraits now? I thought he was going to update with info regarding battle sprites. Did I misunderstand?
