  1. Oh, right. That would actually have been interesting to watch. But unfortunately I can't find the YouTube video anymore. : / I think he did it around 2006-2008 or so. But I'm not sure whether he played HM or not anyway.
  2. Never happened to me either. I don't know how you people play, but sending an archer out on his or her own never seemed like a good idea to me. I think I've simply never allowed a situation like this. I know someone who did a Will solo in FE7 though...
  3. Ah yes, I thought so. But I was confused about the sigificance of the pictures as I didn't know sleeves with pictures existed. Thank you for califying.
  4. Does anyone know what these "sleeve collections" are? (See related items for more). http://www.amiami.com/top/detail/detail?gcode=CGM-8013&page=top%2Fsearch%2Flist%3Fs_keywords%3Dfire+emblem%24pagemax%3D40%24getcnt%3D0%24pagecnt%3D1
  5. I'm still not sure what to do. I'll get the Japanese version for sure. I also want to buy a New 3DS and I was waiting to see if they would announce a Fire Emblem edition. They didn't during this direct. Does that mean there won't be one? But, I'm quite sure there should at least be coverplates for the small version. So, that might make it safe to buy the small version when I go to Japan in a couple of days. But, given how everyhting looks with the two Hoshida and Nohr fractions I bet they will release a white and a black coverplate. Which makes the decision on which color of the New 3DS to buy much harder until I know what they look like. I'm going crazy.
  6. Very nice of you to offer this, thank you. Official staff book T-shirt (L) Photo frame 12000 yen. I'm staying in Tokyo for about a week, starting 5th of April. Can you hold on to everything for a few days and then send everything to my hotel so that I can save onshipping?
  7. I so wish it would have been in April when I'm going there... Well, like everyone else here I really hope they will release a CD.
  8. Thanks a bunch! Sounds like it would be hard to apply on the current situation though. But I know it was quite some time before the release.
  9. Does anyone know when and how the old Fire Emblem edition of 3DS was first announced for Japan? I'm asking because I want to know how long before the release of Awakening it was. I'm going to Japan in April and I had planned to puchase a New 3DS until I heard of the new Fire Emblem title. There is a chance that there will be a another Fire Emblem themed 3DS. I'm hoping that it will be announced by then, so that I know whether it's worth waiting for or not.
  10. Could someone add a poll to this thread? Something like this: Do you want the pair up feature to remain in the upcoming game? Yes Yes, but less powerful No (or make it an option before starting a new game) If there is an overwhelmingly large support for the No-option, it wouldn't hurt to notify Intelligent Systems. I avoided using the term "nerfed" since people at Intsys likely aren't familiar with the word, if they actually do decide to look at it in the first place.
  11. I've been thinking along those lines too. But I doubt it would have any effect. If they were to make it optional, they would also have to adjust the difficulty as well. I found the harder difficulties to be too easy while paired up, but occassionally it would be too hard if not.
  12. I hope there will be one. And I would buy it. At the very least, there should be kisekae for the smaller model.
  13. You do resist? You never even had the option to do revive a character (unless you have been using save states in an emulator I guess). It was a hypothetical question. I'm not talking about newcomer/casual. I suspect most people could make the choice before it happens. Grinding doesn't have to be broken. I found myself not being able to lose even if I wanted just because I had played a couple of DLC maps when I was able to. If I couldn't foresee that, would someone playing Fire Emblem for the first time? Sure, most people know what grinding means. But you may expect the effect to be limited. In most JRPGs the growth soon decreases dramatically and then it's no longer worthwhile to grind and there are no stronger monsters/whatever until you progress the story. In Awekening you can just keep on going. I like the arena system. You can take advatage of that, but you're taking a great risk to do so. You are bound to reach a point where you're not willing to take the risk anymore.
  14. Me too. I hope Yuka Tsujiyoko will be the main composer again. Though the only song she contributed to Awakening wasn't that great.
  15. Sorry if I'm assuming things about you that I shouldn't, but I somehow doubt you would be able to resist the possibility to have your favorrite character come back to life if he/she died after an hour long battle and some level-ups with lucky RNG, right when it happens. @Gradivus: Of course not. But I said most people would use something which is right there. Paying 30 euros would be a gigantic hurdle, the very opposite to the situation I described. And I wouldn't even pay that much for a well balanced weapon. A few years ago I played an MMORPG which was initially very well balanced. Then they introduced a skill which let you paralyze basically any boss in the game while auto attacking them to death within a few seconds. Basically everyone but me used it. They also introduced weapons which could kill most normal enemies in one normal hit and weren't too hard to come by. They were used by most people as well. Well, not by me. All challenge gone. They reached their goals faster. But did they have fun in the meantime? Well, I still believe in what I said. When you design a game you have to have the gamers in mind. It's naive to think they will all just figure out what's too advantageous and refuse to make use of it. Do you guys like infinite extra lifes in most platformers of today as well? Should there be a POW block every few steps in Super Mario?
  16. This kind of argument isn't very good. Just to illustrate, they could as well add an unbreakable 100% hit 1-hit-KO weapon. And then simply let the player choose whether to use it or not. The game designers should make the game balanced, not the player. First off, the player is likely to take advantage of things when they can. I prefer permadeath for the challenge, so I pick classic mode. After a playthrough I'm happy that I did. But if a characters dies in game and I was suddenly given the option to have it undone, I would likely not have the self-dicipline to say no! Grinding is similar. I'm likely to take the opportunity if it's there. And in Awakening you can easily go too far and it's actually not easy to realize until you decide to pursue the main storyline again. Especially if you buy DLC. Lastly, saying that endgame is going to be easy anyway is no reason to make it even worse. On the contrary, it's a reason to fix it by making endgame harder.
  17. I also wouldn't mind traps and elevation as seen in the console 3D games. Or something like when you in FE5
  18. I have been thinking the option of cancelling an attack would be interesting addition, even before these problems arised. But t may on the other hand make certain situations too easy.
  19. I would love to see weapon weight come back as well. But the most important thing is a better varation of battle objectives as previously mentioned. And everything else which adds optional challenges, such as competitive thieves and village burning. But new ones. I would also prefer not to only have the main character recruit allies. It was a lot better when various hints pointed out which character you needed to send in order to bring them over. Also, grinding hasn't worked out very well in the series so far. It should at least be limited somehow. Challenge is the foundation of Fire Emblem. Everything which may completely undermine it (like overpowered characters due to grinding) should not be there. Having said that, it's great to see good new ideas. The new ways to change the course of events will likely be great additions.
  20. I think that would make things a bit too unpredictable, leaving the strategy element suffering. Not to mention it would be really tedious to calculate various possibilities of damage output. Single attack, double or paired double with bonuses.
  21. If they would let you add them as characters, I hope they are given support conversations this time. The DLC characters in Awakening became quite alienated.
  22. I don't mind the ability to join up in an attack, but I'd prefer if it was limited to characters next to each other. No pairing up.
  23. The image is too small (or blurry/compressed) for me to be able to make out most of the kanji, but what's next to "2200" is not the kanji for yen, though you probably knew that. And I guess that could still be the price. I paid 880 yen for the keyring by the way. I don't see Enterbrain anywhere, mind pointing it out? Edit: Ah, right. I can see it now. That's slightly odd. It's probably related to Famitsu somehow then, like you suggested.
  24. Actually, I've limited myself to items related to the Japanese market. Which is quite lucky for me, as I'd be forever doomed to failure considering I'll most likely never get my hands on the falchion replica. Also I really only buy things that interest me, so I'm not that hardcore. And yes, browsing auction sites is quite boring consdidering the fact you rarely find anything you haven't seen before. Fire Emblem really isn't a series which has seen a lot of commercial offsprings. I'm currently replacing my games with the Japanese ones as well. Only problem being that the Japanese FE9 is 4:3 only. And even though I'm a fan of challenge, I kind of like the added crit bonuses to certain classes in the international versions.
