I beat it a long time ago, I recall doing so much grinding just for fun. I never bothered a 2nd play through though due to the slow game play.

Honestly, I would have added two things that would have greatly improved the experience for me. The first would be more supports for the units with a small support list, Anna, Priam etc. While the other is more Cut scene involving the villains, it would have made me enjoy them a bit more instead of thinking of them all as being card board cut outs and one shots.
