  1. Hmm I think the front page links should work for those two, it may have been due to edits I made... try those?
  2. Yune, being emotionally unstable, probably had an emotional outburst sent the world into chaos (berserking as you said) even if her intentions were pure, which is why the Three Heroes were needed. I feel like Sephiran having to do with that armor is the most possible thing, considering their relationship and his travels to Daein and the like. He's also the "Black Heron" so would be fitting to have a "Black Knight" at his side. But that's just speculation, and could just be a story loophole! I feel like the "our image" probably meant "the way we wanted" rather than 'the way we are," but I'll check the Japanese for that (due to Zunanma and whatever came before them probably being more animal like...) See below! When checking the English script: So the Goddess likely created what came before them, but their evolution was out of their control, which is a point the book makes too (the final lines about how people showed the potential to grow and change beyond what the gods could have imagined). : ) So I think that may be the same between versions. Though if there is a line where she says they did not create them directly I can check the Japanese for you, but the above hints more toward the evolution thing!
  3. I believe they meant the Great Flood, and what they are trying to express is how Ashunera split herself in two, with Yune being blamed for the side that acted that way. They are portraying it as Yune doing it, even if it was Ashunera who was doing it due to that compartmentalization : ) One side gives it from the perspective of just being Ashunera, the other gives it as if Ashera and Yune already existed within her (before her split) and portrayed as if it was those two arguing/one ignoring the other to express her mental state. I hope that makes sense!
  4. At last, here are the final character profiles! With this complete, I just have to translate and upload the extended portraits, and this project is finally complete! Almost there! 117 Dheginsea 118 Kurthnaga 120 Ena 121 Nasir 122 Ashera 123 Yune Sorry about that! It never pinged this reply to me, and I was busy getting the last profile pages done. To answer your question, it is published by ambit in cooperation with Nintendo and Intelligent Systems : ) Can you point out which line in the first volume says that? I may be able to take another look at it, or perhaps it is yet another slight difference between the JP and EN versions.
  5. So I updated the front post with a second section being Hidari (character designer)'s commentary on some parts of the game. So please either check the front post or read it on my blog. Wasn't sure if it needed it's own topic or not, but maybe @VincentASM would like to see it anyway. : )
  6. The one advantage I have by not being an editor is that I am not as obliged to do it... so if there comes a case where I really can't get it done I won't feel (as) bad. xD Yes, announcing it in general without any info was a little off putting. xD
  7. Thanks XD They actually clarified that (about the title Echoes and being series) more in-depth in an interview back in April. : ) I'm kind of okay with them not telling us much, since maybe then when they do its release won't be too far off. With the things I do, I really dread another FE release --because it means a ton of information that needs to be translated and fast. I think I lose a few years of my life everytime! xD
  8. The "man love" thing was only for that silly spin off game. In the main game his name is just in katakana and left at that. Not sure if that's less insulting, but just clarifying. : ) Is the "Pirate Throne" that island between Archanea and Valentia on the world map that you pass by? If so, then they're referring to that, yeah. xD I didn't know it's title in English, but will edit that a little. Thanks! They wrote 海賊の国 (can also refer to a "pirate state" or any other organized society) You're welcome! Thank you for reading and commenting as usual! I believe as others have mentioned, it is relative to their budget and expectations, as he is speaking from a producer's point of view. : ) If you consider that Awakening was still to be the last game despite those remakes, that already implies they didn't sell as much as they wanted/needed.
  9. Hi everyone! Me again! (And hi for the first time if you're new here and don't know me xD) I spent my free time over the last week translating an interview about Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia. It was featured in the July 2017 issue of Nintendo Dream (released May 20th, 2017). Topics include a lot of fun trivia (from Batman to why there are so many oranges) as well as information on how the April Fools' game came to be. @VincentASM let me know it hadn't actually been translated (I assumed it had), so here it is in full translation. I had to buy the magazine for myself as I could find no scans, and spent a lot of valuable time on it... so I hope you enjoy reading it. It's rather lengthy! I recommend reading a previous interview about this game as some things the developers said in it are referenced. Please note the third section has spoilers. The section has a clearly marked spoiler warning from the magazine and me, so please be weary. UPDATE: I added a translation of Hidari's commentary, found a few pages after. See blog post here, or in the second set of spoiler tags below. Lastly, if you're feeling generous, please feel free to leave a donation! Any amount, no matter how small, really helps me out and supports my passion to bring these never-translated things to you all : ) Enjoy! Either read the interview below or on my blog! If you share the interview, please share the blog version! It's always the most recently updated one. Thanks! : ) Follow up commentary from Hidari (character designer)
  10. Maybe they could only warp themselves, so would be futile for the three frail birds to confront all the people in Begnion. xD
  11. I was wondering about this part too xD I feel like, the fact he doesn't remember and such, he probably just went so crazy he ended up doing some sort of magic that caused him to teleport, much like the warp staff/the Black Knight's warp powder...
  12. Today we have the three royal siblings of this site's namesake: 112 Reyson 113 Leanne 114 Rafiel Just six profiles left now! Four dragons and two goddesses. Right? I think the important part is that she was probably content in a way knowing that her son chose his own path (and hence being proud of how he grew up) rather than being stuck in eternal longing.
  13. I can see why people may feel that way. It finds a way to try to forgive Naesala's actions by blaming it on the Blood Pact rather than making him out to be a character that has selfishness as a trait. In a sense I can see why those who prefer him to have a darker side to want it to stay that way. I agree, his FE9 portrait looks much more "pointed" compared to his "softer" FE10 portrait. The rest of your points I agree with as well. Yes, they say among all three... xD but it's possible that, as you said, the massacre may have cut out a lot of the elderly...
  14. Ah was that not clarified in the English version of the game? I don't recall despite playing just last year, but if not I should look into the Japanese game text and make an article on it for the wiki/records' sake. : ) I found him charming in an odd way in FE9 as well, but indeed FE10 really helped him. It also helped me forgive Sephiran for leaving a bad taste in my mouth in FE9's ending. xD Today's! 090 Soren 111 Nealuchi So here we have Soren's lengthy profile! It reminded me of how much I liked him (and felt bad for him). I did like how it explores why he felt awkward with Skrimir suddenly being extra into him, when it talks about how he's used to laguz having totally ignored him before, and now here's the future king asking him to come sit next to him. xD The last lines about forging his own path would be more akin to "forged his own destiny." I had already uploaded everything though so didn't change it on the sheet, but its changed on the blog post raw script... maybe I'll change it in the final edition later on. Nealuchi's is fun with it talking about how he's not just old, but older than the other birds! Just how old is he...? Were they counting Lehran? xD
  15. Indeed, Kyza's profile mentions all that too, and my blog post notes goes in depth on the matter too. Today's profile is Naesala.
  16. Huge undertakings, and I know how much work will go into each one. I voted for Shadow Dragon/New Mystery. It may take awhile, but slowly going in order maybe a fun way to go!
  17. Fixed Ranulf's, thanks for pointing that out! (It's times like this I wish I had an editor...) I re-worded Sephiran's bit upon reviewing it, so thanks for pointing that out too. I do wonder how Micaiah would have made a difference, and how he went without knowing her true heritage despite all the other things he knew... I guess she was really good at hiding!
  18. Phew, got a few more profiles! 075 Sephiran 098 Volke 102 Ranulf Sephiran's mentions being the "Black Heron", which is the first I heard of that... I assume due to the wings we see him have and his hair color in general, compared to the royal family of Serenes. The rest is mostly history we know! But boy did that take awhile...xD Volke's was fun but straightforward. Interestingly, he's still marked down as "Greil Mercenaries." Lastly, Ranulf actually talked about less than I thought considering his role in the game. The part about the love triangle is silly though. xD Hopefully I can get to Soren next... all the non laguz characters are done though! Just the two goddesses and the rest of the laguz left now!
  19. What the... xD Thanks for pointing that out. Fixed it with the superior imgur... And since he's relevant to the discussion, and the next page, and the last of the Greil Mercenaries profiles, here's Rolf. A note for "endearing nicknames." It is simply how I chose to translate the fact he stopped attaching "-chan" to her name, so no need to read too deeply into it (nor will there be any evidence in Path of Radiance as it is a cultural disconnect and hence localizers gave no equivalent to work off of). Though it could imply he may have some feelings for her (and so feels awkward calling her such if it makes it obvious) and is perhaps a cause of tension with Boyd. But that's all speculation. It's also fully possible he just doesn't want to seem as childish anymore. XD
  20. Indeed! That's a typo on their part. Shinon, listed 27 in Path of Radiance is properly labeled as 30 now, so we can easily assume Oscar is 27 now too! Today's: 095 Boyd I also finally finished transcribing Sephiran and Soren, who were the two longest profiles left. After those two the rest will be done in order! Not many left now!
  21. In the game those villagers did seem to be in quite a bit of pain... so I guess that can still go either way? Maybe more major than a simple cut, but less than outright breaking legs? xD Today we have 094 Oscar HIm and Shinon also have their actual ages up rather than approx, which is interesting! Two of the few who do.
  22. Indeed! I thought about Part 1 a lot too when it came to animal interaction. I also played the game a few months ago in preparation to translate this book, so those kind of things stuck out and were much appreciated. Today we have... 093 Shinon
  23. There is quite a bit of technical language used here, and so plenty of terms I would be unfamiliar with in English xD...as well as the fact I didn't play some of those games. Perhaps if I get time later on I can look into it.
  24. I finally managed to finish the developer commentary on the game while working on the profiles! So today I present the fun developer commentary: 252-253 Developer Commentary [Blog post version here] Blog post version is for easier quoting as its in text format, compared to the image. Enjoy!
  25. Titania is pretty cool that way! I do wonder if we will in a future installment. Today we have... 091 Rhys
