  1. Both are pretty mediocre. They're both usually chance based, so you can't really rely on any of them in critical situations. If you're relying on Sol to heal to avoid dying, you;re probably dead. If you're relying on Luna to defeat an enemy...well, you'll probably be able to do it, but you'll be in for a rough time if it never procs. I went back and forth on which is better based on random procs that you aren't relying on. I guess in that case Sol might be better since it might save you from having to expend a healing staff or item later on. But then again, you can goose your odds of getting a luna proc by focusing on a static target like a boss, who is probably who you'd want a luna activation against most. It's hard to say, but I feel like Sol would be slightly more valuable.
  2. Glad you found them useful! I haven't had time/motivation to update them much recently, but it's good to see anyone getting some use out of them.
  3. Time for the big finale(s). So, that’s that. Hopefully y’all enjoyed this. I may or may not do another one at some point.
  4. I think both ports and remakes/remasters have merit, and would like to see more of both. Square Enix doing a remake of Trials of Mana didn't stop them from putting a translation of the original up for sale. Make both flavors available for those who want it. If it's a hard choice though, I'd prefer a port. Let me experience the original, warts and all.
  5. Not a full update, but i did get a Chansey swarm to appear. I got two lucky eggs out of that, which has made grinding for the elite four rematch/red much easier. Yeah I found that later as well. Not sure why the other sources I found seem confused on this subject. I guess everyone assumes you'd catch Zapdos and never bothered just defeating it.
  6. Shot in the dark - anyone following this know what the conditions are to get Lt. Surge to appear and give his phone number are? Everywhere I check online seems to have contradictory information.
  7. Pretty short update this time. Probably won’t be much to say til I find the time/patience to grind for the elite four rematch, and then eventually Red. See y’all whenever that is.
  8. I forgot to update this for a bit, oops. Onto Blue next time, hopefully.
  9. Elite four done! Only took me three attempts. So, that's the League. On to Kanto next week.
  10. Made on run at the elite four today. Surprisingly, I made it to Lance! but not past him. Geese's Ice Fang can't quite deal with his Dragonites, and I don't really have backup for when he faints. So, it's still a work in progress.
  11. Midweek madness, with a lot of updates. Probably too many. :v See y'all next time.
  12. Weekend update, mostly finishing Goldenrod and Ecruteak stuff. See y'all next time.
  13. Getting a water stone for that might be an issue. It I'm reading Bulbapedia right, it would be possible to get one from a rematch on route 42, but I'm not 100% sure that's reachable. Following convention, I'm going all the way to Red.
  14. Based on the poll and my own preferences, I've decided to do HeartGold next. You can follow updates here if you're interested.
  15. After the success(?) of my Emerald Gift/IGT only run, I felt like doing another one of these. The vote in the last thread was split, but I felt like playing HeartGold for unrelated reasons anyway, so that's what I'll go with. For a refresher, the idea here is to only use Pokemon that I'm given for free or which can be obtained via an in-game trade. Pokemon which are required for trades may be used up until the trade is available. (Or, that's what I allowed before...) Emerald offered an...interesting experience, with a somewhat troublesome early game and limited access to HMS - including NO access to Fly. How will HeartGold compare? Here are the Pokemon which will be allowed(well, with some possible exceptions): Gen I and II were a lot more generous with the amount of trades available, and their remakes reflect this. There's also quite a few gifts too. I will be playing mainly on a modded DSi, so there will be fewer screenshots this time. I'll still make occasional transfers to a PC emulator to get screenshots of new team members.
  16. So...turns out I forgot something. I'll get to it at the end, though. It's funnier that way. And that's it for the run. Hopefully it was fun for others to read through. And maybe I'll do another one later.
  17. Prepping for fighting Steven is...uh, gonna take a while. :v Here's a short update on the start of the postgame.
  18. Added a poll to gauge interest in a "sequel," more or less. Limited the options to games I already own, and excluding FireRed because I've already done it. And Gen 1 because it'd be too similar to FR.
  19. After a week of preparation, I have....16 Lum berries. Because Lums grow at a rate of 2 berries every two days at best. Was the wait worth it? Who knows. :v
  20. damn, guess I'm a fake fire emblem fan Anyway, I got distracted from this for the lats week because I got Legends Arceus. Turns out it's a good game. Who knew? I have an update, but it's mostly just preparation.
