  1. capped str ike does 12 damage every turn (9 attack + 9 counter - 6 passive healing), and you have a time limit of 5 turns. Assuming he never misses and the bishop doesn't ever heal the BK, you can kill him exactly. If you go for this, use mist to heal him and distract the other enemies

An easier method would just be to wrath him.

So Nihil and Wrath would be best then? Nihil would prevent Luna from going off, and Wrath could maybe compensate for misses when Ike's health gets low enough. Since I'm playing hard mode, the reinforcements will be two halberdiers and a bishop, all of which Mist could probably take care of if I put a bit of work into her in time.

IIRC capped Ike 6RKO's the BK with no crits or Aethers. As long as you wait for EP combat until he's in kill range, and Elixir every turn even Luna procs can't kill you. That being said I usually just gamble on Aether and have Mist Physic if neccessary.

EDIT: I went to check the stats, I must remember incorrectly, I totally forgot Alondite gave BK +5 def as well! However, I've never been unlucky enough not to proc Aether at least once :V

Yep. Like the other dude said, 9 damage per hit with capped strength, and then BK also has Renewal, which maxes standard damage output (no skills) to 12 per turn. I'm kind of reluctant to rely on Aether again, since I'll need to be constantly healing Ike because Luna made things more problematic than they needed to be. Well then, Nihil+Wrath it is, then.

  2. I've started a Hard run on this game, and I've reached the part where Ike gets promoted to a Lord. Last time I played the Nados Castle chapter (27?), it was a couple of repeated attempts to kill the Black Knight because I was relying on Aether. I had thought to run Resolve+Wrath on Ike, only for the game info on this site to tell me you get the Resolve scroll on that very chapter. What skills are generally more reliable? Wrath+Nihil (for Luna), or just try my luck with Aether again? Or any other ideas?

  3. Because you can only marry one, and honestly neither is the best option.

Going for a powerful Morgan is done by marrying second gen, not Spotpass Six.

He's not asking if he should use them-- he's asking who's better to mother Morgan.

(And Emm's the only one of the Spotpass Six with solid use as a staffbot, she's Lissa+...)

Chrom married Sumia and Tharja married Gaius. I haven't decided on parents for the other daughters, but I'm definitely not going with a mage build for them. Would it be best to marry Cynthia/Lucina or Noire?
  4. I plan on trying Apotheosis soon, but I want to prepare as best as possible first. Morgan definitely has a spot on my team because of her amazing versatility. For a mage build, should I go with Emmeryn for her high magic modifier, or Aversa for a slightly lower modifier with Shadowgift?

  5. Pretty solid choices.

I'd do Stahl/Cherche and Frederick/Panne instead of Stahl/Panne and Frederick/Cherche, due to Stahl/Cherche being my OTP better class options for both Gerome (he'd be speedier because he'd have access to myrmidon/swordmaster) and Yarne (wyvern rider access, baby), but hey, that's just me.

Oh my, now that you mention it, they ARE. Stahl is always hungry, Cherche is a cook with a motherly personality. But I suppose it works better for Yarne and Gerome in the game too. I'll definitely consider it.

  6. I'm still a bit preoccupied with how some pairings will work in the long run, so before I go through with them, I wanted to get some opinions on them to be able to optimize the children's capabilities for Apotheosis. Who my MU will marry is still a big gray area because Morgan is incredibly diverse, so the mother can potentially be another future child for stat optimization, or someone for skill purposes, such as Lucina for Aether (and high speed) or Aversa for Shadowgift.

    Chrom x Sumia*

    Gaius x Tharja*

    Kellam x Nowi

    Vaike x Lissa

    Stahl x Panne

    Virion x Olivia

    Libra x Maribelle

    Donnel x Sully

    Lon'qu x Cordelia

    Frederick x Cherche

    Ricken x Miriel

  7. Gareth. He can't survive a turn in the Tower of Guidance because several spirits gang up on him and each one can double him easily for heavy damage every time. Ena may have terrible offenses, but unlike Gareth, she can actually survive in the tower and be put to use as a support unit with her Blood Tide skill. I found Ena to be really useful because of that so I don't really get why people talk so much smack about her and not Gareth. Oh, and oddly, she doesn't get one-shotted by Ashera like Gareth does either. Although I will agree that she does indeed suck in Path of Radiance. On my first play, I gave up on repeatedly beating the chapter just to beat the Black Knight, and so I ended up with Ena. Terrible stats contradicting the expected marvel of a dragon. Nasir wasn't very good either, but at least he was usable, but I digress.

  8. Why?

I used her during my first play, and while her stats weren't particularly excellent, she was still quite usable. She was a rather tanky for a paladin, and to top all it off, she has Canto. Canto is the reason mounted units are so good in the Tellius games.

  9. Depends on whether or not you're doing an LTC challenge or anything similar. Other than that, a few of them tend to be terrible due to low growths, and sometimes low base stats as well. Sothe and Titania are actually good in Radiant Dawn (they have great base stats too), and definitely usable because of the implementation of a 3rd tier, but Titania is only decent in PoR (not awful statwise like a true Jeigan) and Fredrick can become as good as most other characters because of the limitless reclassing. Seth managed to keep up fairly well on my second Sacred Stones play, so I can't call him bad. Jagen is just absolutely horrid. His base stats are nothing special, his growths are simply laughable, nor is he versatile in any way because of the lack of rescuing in the Archanea series. You can use him to weaken enemies in the max difficulty to help everyone else, but that's about it. I'm not far enough in Holy War to say anything about Oifey yet. Arran is sadly the same. As for Marcus, he's basically the prime example of a jeigan from the first part of my comment. Statwise, he's just super weak in FE6.

  10. I say you're reading into it too much.

The Paladin in one of the Marth Spotpass missions with Rally Spectrum aka Jagen seems more thought out than the DLC Micaiah Shadowgift skill.

Augh god, they certainly did a good job of emulating his stats as a Jeigan as well. So... low. Compared to the makeshift Cain and Abel, at least. I guess reading too much into anything is just one of my bad habits.

  11. I only got Awakening about a few weeks ago, bought a couple of DLCs, but I'm kind of curious as to what people think regarding why Micaiah is a Dark Mage and why she has Shadowgift. My theory is that as the priestess of Yune, she's attuned with chaos, which is commonly associated with evil. And I'm guessing that her "underhanded and dirty" act was pretty much everything she did when Daein took part in the war between Begnion and the Laguz Alliance like attacking retreating troops and her dumping oil on Sanaki's pegasus knight guards? I would just like to know what others think. Or whatever's been confirmed that I haven't heard.

  12. Tharja probably. Considering that she is pretty much a female version of Valter... except of course Valter was acknowledged as a monster, has to at least pretend to be an ally (even then, he still comes across as an arrogant prick, so nobody likes him) and never got to actually rape his target.

He is still disturbing as hell, but at least he leaves in a world that condemns his actions. You don't have to deal with him all by yourself.

But the world that Tharja lives in, doesn't give two shits about a monster like her.

Everyone will just ignore everything she does, despite her making no effort to hide that she is a sick bastard who hurts people out of mere boredom. No matter how many people are around you, you will always be alone with her.

The disturbance even reaches meta levels, given that she is the favorite character of all the IS representatives.

Mind you, seeing the supposed heroes butcher and verbally teabagging soldiers as if they were merely Counterstrike opponents instead of sentient beings, really makes me want to throw up. Especially considering that Fire Emblem used to go to great lengths in humanizing enemies.

Fire Emblem has always given me this sense of respect for the dead in this world that does little to impede mockery of the dead, and sometimes even favors it. It was kinda sad to have to kill Selena and meanwhile, on Eirika's route, Glen gets killed off. Grado just goes morally downhill when they take in the 3 new generals, especially Caellach in my opinion.

Prior to becoming a meme, Denning actually creeped me out quite a bit. I mean he was constructed purely for the purpose of telling the lords that, 'Lord Nergal awaits them on the dread isle' but I've got to wonder if he's actually capable of thought. The other morphs like Ephidel, Limstella and Sonia certainly seem to be, and if he can think and feel, then has he just silently resigned himself to his fate as a messenger or are there doubts and worries bubbling up from within his artificial heart.

Oh gods, THAT thing. Sometimes you can't help but wonder about the creation of the morphs though. Kishuna in particular is an example of how erratic they can come out. Denning would seem that much more creepy if you had to deal with him in person though. LIke, just imagine a random pallid, yellow-eyed zombie-like archer just trying to shoot you to death with his bow while mindlessly and repeatedly uttering "This is a message from Lord Nergal. I await you on Dread Isle." I find it hard to believe people can deny that to be creepy as hell, an encounter with Denning in the flesh, I mean.

  13. Efficiency varies with the motive a player wants to achieve, be it a low turn count game or just a simple, casual run. Whether tiering is based on a statistical average of stats, opinions, or other factors, I honestly don't know, but no tier list is perfect. A character deemed to be low-tiered could easily turn out RNG blessed, or a high tier character could be RNG screwed. You also have to bear in mind that tier lists are generated by people, and where there are people, chances are, the list author's bias toward specific characters can easily be incorporated into the list, or perhaps even the author's luck with the RNG system for better or worse could be as well. For example, many lists I've seen tend to bash on Micaiah a lot for her low speed and fragility, but on my first run of RD, her speed turned out decent (but not bad enough to get doubled by everything like others claim), and you do have to admit that compared to Rapiers (or other similar weapons), Thani is particularly efficient due to it being able to deal magical rather than physical damage. Personally, I don't care for tier lists, but I know that while some are based off of trivial reasons like the ones I specified, there are some based off of cold, hard facts as to a character's efficiency. A good tier list requires a player to have experimented with every character of a particular game at least once rather than forsaking them as benchwarmers. My example of this was with Lucia, who was quite useful and grew fairly well in the Hawk Army chapters and the Tower of Guidance (no babying or nepotism involved, unless giving her the Adept ability from Aimee's bargains counts) regardless of how many tier lists tend to place her in low tiers. Not only must stats, ability to tank, damage output, or other basic things be taken into account, but also other forms of tactical utility such as Canto or Tanith's Reinforce skill. Efficiency varies with not only basic tactical utility, but more importantly, consistent applicability of a character's tactical utility. Like I said, depending on the player's motive, a character's tactical utility should be flexibly applicable, and sometimes even sporadically applicable in certain situations.

  14. Izuka was a blatantly obvious villain, but he still is creepy. Tharja actually creeps me out a lot, for reasons that may contain spoilers for FE13.

I haven't played Awakening yet either, but she certainly looks creepy (and not to mention cranky). I heard that apparently she's like the 3rd most popular of all FE characters regardless of the fact that she threatens to kill you in your sleep. Izuka is disturbing in both character and appearance.

Oh, this is easy for me. Valtome, Oliver, and Excellus. Just...ugh. Also Tharja. Henry also disturbs me to an extent, but at the same time, I find him hilarious too.

Are you crazy? Oliver is the epitome of beauty. Jk, and Valtome reminds me too much of some cross-dresser from a novela my grandma watches. I can't look at him without this sudden impulse to laugh my butt off, but yes he is hideous.

I don't find anyone in the series disturbing.

You only say that because of his child-like voice.

A lot of people seem to be interpreting "disturbing" with respect to character and others to appearance. I suppose I should have been a bit more specific. Even so, I did get fascinating feedback. So you never found a single character hideous in character nor looks?

Algol, despite his role in the main FE13 game being next to nothing, he really does creep me out in the Death's Embrace DLC. I actually get the creeps looking at Nowi's official artwork despite being totally okay with her in-game art and personality.

Ashnard's treatment of Rajaion is particularly sadistic, even after you take into account his treatment of the other dragon laguz royals, his own son, the herons, and the rest of his family and his underlings.

Rajaion's tragic reduction to a common mount was definitely a show of sadism. Just as sadistic, if not worse, was how he just let Ena wallow in despair knowing this and deliberately keeping her away from him regardless of the fact that she and Nasir were the only reason he was able to get a hold of the medallion. Ashnard is, overall, a demented psychopath given the events that transpire in PoR and his explained past in RD.

  15. Valter, Izuka and Julius come to mind, though I don't doubt there were probably a good number one-off chapter bosses that came pretty close to breaking out of "stock villain" and into "actually fairly despicable" territory. The Deadlords, if you let the relevant people in Thracia die, are pretty distress-worthy, too.

Valter was my first Fire Emblem creeper. He was atrocious. Thracia and Genealogy of the Holy War, I still haven't played yet, but I will if I manage to make time for it. Izuka was just straight-up creepy and I was pleased when I learned I he was a boss in Part 4.

  16. Brammimond has always been a disturbing little character in my mind, mostly due to the mystery surrounding him.

I actually wish that either FE6 or 7 had gone a little more in depth on Brammimond or at least made him somewhat more proactive. After all, he was just like "okay there, I broke the seal on Durandal, now get the hell out and leave me alone." He actually is pretty creepy though.

Monica in FE8 wins it for me.

I think it was for the best that she was never actually displayed. God only knows what kind of atrocity she was reborn as. For all we know, she could have been reborn a revenant/entombed. We know she came out a zombie in mind and soul, but body, not really. Her reborn existence alone was just creepy though.

  17. What can I say? I got curious as to who people found particularly hideous throughout the game series. I started my second run of Radiant Dawn earlier today and remembered Pain and Agony (and their identical Blazing Sword and Sealed Sword pairs) as soon as I got to Chapter 1-4. To these kind of characters, I would go as far as to say the cliche "kill it with fire," but sadly, Tormod doesn't join until a few chapters later. Sadness.

  18. 2) Petrine. Another one that irks me. Petrine is a unique character to be sure. We find out that she's branded (Raven it seems) but works for Daien despite that they would probably kill her if her branded nature ever became public. Despite that, she fights for Ashnard... And dies before long and doesn't even get mentioned again. Ena? Survives. Bertam? Survives. Not Petrine. They could have done a lot with her too, like have her be Vika's niece and the reason Vika is even out in the first place. Or even going cliche and having her become a good guy. But nope. Evil.

Ena and Bertram survived because of their ties to Rajajon and Crimea. But even if Petrine did happen to be Vika's niece, I don't really think she would have gotten her out of her position as a slave because she clearly hate ALL laguz. They even made Oliver survive, and yet, not Petrine. As for the part about Fiona, I think I recall hearing somewhere that Marado was a territory that wanted no part in the war.

    No support between Tormod and his foster father made me incredibly sad. ;~;

Sure, they built their individual characters through Path of Radiance supports, but not really much about their past lives together after they met. God, remembering that they have no supports depressed the crap out of me. :'( Seriously though, what could it be that convinced a laguz who most likely resents beorc for enslaving him (and mentally scarring him) to just go and raise a random beorc child? Even if he was most likely found abandoned, it still seems really odd. The dude's a freaking saint.

  19. I just wanted to be sure because "combat-related skills" seemed a bit vague to me. I assumed that Resolve wasn't "combat-related" since it goes off in response specifically to low health. I take it that Wrath gets negated too?

  20. A certain "source" who has a habit of spoiling things for people went and told me that a number of enemies in the Tower of Guidance have an ability called Mantle which works similar to Nihil as well as negating damage from "weapons not blessed by Yune" as he said. I'm about to start the Endgame and I'm curious as to what skills don't get negated by Nihil and Mantle. I heard Resolve isn't affected, but mastery skills are, so I have my doubts as to what would and wouldn't work.

  21. I've always underestimated the value of supports until I started Radiant Dawn. Now I simply hate myself for never having taken advantage of it and just doing it for seeing character development. The only support combo I ever recall taking advantage of was Ilyana and Mordecai in Path of Radiance.
