  1. I'm gonna post two different ones, one being a traditional reboot, with safer and more responsible choices, and the other being the Smash game I would make for myself. Mario Bowser Peach Link Sheik Ganondorf Pikachu Any current gen starter Kirby Dedede Marth Edelgard Samus Fox Captain Falcon Donkey Kong Villager Pit Sonic Megaman Now my game, I just want FE characters, plus other Nintendo characters that fit the fantasy RPG theme. No third party. I don't know how I would name this game, but Super Smash Bros probably won't fit. Characters split with the "/" are costumes with different voice lines, assuming I'm allowed to do that. If not, the character on the left takes priority. Marth/Lucina Celica/Robin Ike Black Knight Edelgard Link Ganondorf Zelda/Hilda Sheik Cia/Lana Pit/Dark Pit Medusa Palutena Hades Shulk Pneuma Isaac/Felix Saturos Takamaru Just for fun, a Pokemon gym leader who fits the fantasy RPG theme, like Koga.
  2. I think I've said this a million times, but I still think Lucina should've been an Ike clone instead of Marth. She's taught by Chrom, who fights rough like Ike. If you take away the sword toss in Aether, it looks a lot like that spinning move Lucina uses when she's fighting Chrom in the cutscene, and Ike's quickdraw looks very similar to Awakening's skill procs, which could easily suit Lucina. Most importantly though, a quick, weak Ike would have been a much more worthwhile addition than Marth minus his staple mechanic. Outside of her physical appearance, fake name, and the name of her weapon, Lucina shares no similarities with Marth, most notably fighting style. It really isn't worth whining over, but I can't help but bring it up any time Lucina in SSB4 comes up.
  3. I'm gonna say right now that I don't care one bit about equal representation between series. That being said, here we go; Echo for Ike: Black Knight. Warp powder up-B would negate the silliness of having BK use Aether, and teleportation moves require the bare minimum of animation. Aside from reasons obvious to anyone other than me and other FE character fanatics, the only issue I can see is that Ike is already a heavy hitter, so making BK hit harder could be troublesome. I think giving him slightly slower ground speed, much lower jumps with less control, hits a little harder, and is a lot harder to knock away is the way to go. He'd be like Ike with a metal box+a Mewtwo/Zelda up-B. Echo for Roy; Chrom or Alm. Either one works as a heavier Roy. None of Roy's moves are to exclusive to him, and Roy is fairly middle ground in terms of damage/speed, so this one's a safer venture than Ike/BK. Echo for Robin; Celica. Easy peasy, and if they've done away with custom moves, she can reuse some of Robin's alt moveset with new names. And instead of having limited tomes, Celica's would deal a bit of % to her. Strength/speed of the sword moves is open to debate I think, Robin's middle ground there, so even if you kept Celica in the middle, I think the different b-mechanics would be enough to differentiate them. Echo for Ness; Ninten. This one's purely for character representation. Like with Robin, if we're done with custom b-moves, you can use some of Ness' alts. I think Ninten might be slightly less portly than our boy Ness, so he could be quicker/lighter. Echo for Captain Falcon(/Ganondorf?); Black Shadow. Like Ninten, this one's mostly in the hope of F-Zero getting more love. Now that Ganondorf is further from the Cap, we can revisit the idea of a slower, harder hitting Falcon. I'm only familiar with F-Zero X and GX though, so some F-Zero lore out there I'm unaware of could shoot this idea straight down for all I know. Echo for Samus; Dark Samus. Pretty obvious, but one thing I think they should do is add the slashing damage type to her kicks. IIRC, DS in MP3 used kind of clawlike attacks, including kicks. Phazon weapons in place of most of Samus' other effects. Attributes up for debate, not sure if DS is any faster/ect than Samus. Obviously these are all questionable in their own ways, but here are a few more that I consider much more questionable than the rest. Echo for Wolf or Falco, preferably Wolf; Panther. Why not? Echo for Toon Link; Vaati. This one works only if it isn't too much work to take away his shield, and change his b-moves to magic. They can and should remain functionally the same, but the bomb would be a magic orb, arrow could be lightning, and boomerang can be a gust. Again, this one could just be too much work, but I think it'd be pretty nice if they can pull it off. Echo for Palutena; Medusa or Hades. The alt b-moves would be great here, but even if they can't, I think this would be worthwhile. Hades might be a little too awkward using Palutena's moves, so Medusa works if that's the case. Echo for Zelda; Hilda. If she was an alt color for Zelda, I wouldn't give this a second thought. She might just not be important enough for this though. But it's weird that they missed this obvious palette for Zelda. Echo for Edelgard; Hector. Now this is the one I'd feel most guilty for, and most happy for. I really want her to pull a Roy/Corrin here, and the icing on the cake would be getting Hector as well as an Echo. Obvious ones not mentioned, Shadow and a Xenoblade character for Sonic and Shulk. I don't know enough about either of these games, but these seem like obvious good choices. One last one that I want to kinda shoot down in case it hasn't been done already, is Ken. Now, I love Ken, and would be thrilled to see him. But Ryu actually has a few exclusive moves in Smash that Ken has never used. These include his forward smash, which is Ryu's mule kick from SF3, and his forward tilt, which is his forward m-punch from SSF2. The last one is probably the least important, and that's the focus attack. The animation for this attack is different between Ken and Ryu in SF4, but they're functionally the same, so it's the same thing with another animation, which is the equivalent of Echos using different taunts. I think asking for a Luigified Ryu is a little too much, but an Echo doesn't do Ken justice. If 2.5 moves was still Echo territory, Doc would be an Echo Fighter. I'm sad to see a few people still don't like the Echo/clone concept. I think Lucina and Dark Pit were Echos done wrong, just for being too similar to their originals, but when they're more statistically/mechanically different, they're completely different characters. If someone gave me the opportunity to go back in time, and remove Falco, Ganondorf, Pichu, Doc, Young Link and Roy from Melee for 2-3 new characters, I'd say no. If that were even how it works, which it doesn't. That was a long one, thanks to anyone who tolerated reading all that jargon. All the abbreviation in Dark Samus' paragraph is bugging me, but it's also funny so I'll leave it alone.
  4. I'm hoping we get both, the special Star Fox taunts too. If the sheer number of characters make it difficult, they could throw in a few general ones for a few characters sharing the same series as a short cut. I love Uprising's dialogue, so I would love to see them at it again. And of course I wanna hear Otacon talk about Pokemon again.
  5. I hope they let you select a few sorting options. Would be pretty funny in tournament to hear squabbles between using series or number, and then one set up is using something nuts like "sort alphabetically". If they let you custom sort, so many people will sort by tier list lol. It'd be a superfluous QoL addition, but I'd appreciate it.
  6. I think if Gatrie and Shinon stayed, it might be outlandish. But I think the sequence of events made sense, Greil intended Ike to take over after he was too old or gone, he probably told Titania that if he died, that he wanted her to guide him into the position. Soren, Oscar, Boyd and Rhys all respect and trust Greil, Titania, and Ike, and the kids do too, but even if they didn't, they don't really have a say in the matter. Shinon obviously has no faith in Ike, and I think it's also decent character to show that Gatrie doesn't have complete and utter faith, while not to the same extent as Shinon. That said, it's still fantasy JRPG, among the children fighters, very small group of fighters successfully taking on an army, races of humanoids that live far longer than humans, yet still act the age that matches their appearance, a teenager inheriting command of a small group of mercenaries isn't that hard to take in.
  7. Kaga, his mobile game is the light to defeat the dark. But no, I have high hopes still. I hate Awakening's gameplay, and am lukewarm towards it's story and writing. I hate Fates' story and writing, and enjoy it's gameplay. There's enough right between these two games that I feel they can make something enjoyable again. I enjoyed Echoes, but I wouldn't want to count on a remake being indicative to the mainline series. However, I think that all of the extra plot and characters, both new and the recently fleshed out, were very good, and I take it as a little glimmer of evidence that IS still has some people on board who can write decent characters.
  8. Come on, don't point a new player towards using Rolf. The triangle attack is novel, but not worth keeping Oscar from the best weapon type in the game, and also using Rolf. That said, any character is somewhat usable in easy mode, so if you love Rolf, you can baby him into having good stats. I recommend playing blind though, maybe even no restarts if you're feeling brave. I think you'll have a lot more fun focusing on beating the chapters rather than worrying about missing little details. There are no sidequests or alternate endings, so you can't be locked out of anything amazing by missing a detail. If you stick with going blind, you would be excused for looking at a guide for the desert chapter. Side objective, hidden items, new unit to recruit(with a very specific recruitment). If you decide to play blind, I would at least recommend peaking at a map for the desert.
  9. Magic guns anyone can use, 1-3 range, atk stat unaffected by str/mag, but you have to spend your action reloading if you want to use it twice in a row. Obviously no doubling. Maybe your skill stat could scale with the atk, like +1 atk for every 2/3 points of skill. Might not be for everyone, but I think it'd be interesting. I kind of like the idea that science and technology in the FE universe advances extremely slowly due to the existence of magic, so I think it'd be cool to play off that a little and have the tech be based around magic. I'd prefer FE not go futuristic personally, but I'd be open to it if it ever happened.
  10. Personal favorite is SSBM, with bias for his red and black alt colors. Was super-tempted to vote OG pantless though.
  11. Nah, I kinda want it gone. As long as it's replaced by something else though. If nothing replaces, I'd rather it stay, just don't balance the game around it. But I'd like to see something else, either a turn-wheel, a random chance for a unit's KO to be fatal, an opportunity to save a unit at 0-HP, something that would actually be a little different and fun for someone already playing classic. Especially for an iron man playthrough, the latter two I mentioned could be fun.
  12. If could pick any FE character, no matter how minor, to be a character in Smash, who would it be? Condition 1, they MUST be a clone of an existing character. Condition 2, they will replace one FE character on the roster. Who's making room? Hard mode: no Lucina.
  13. Eldigan and Arion. If for nothing else, just to avoid Eldigan's unsatisfying end. Arion so I can use another Holy weapon, even if it is really late. All I can think of for FE5 is all those unused portraits. Makes me wish they had used some substitute kids in FE5. Gale and Guinevere. Both seemed like good picks, but neither made it. And there's soooo many garbage units in FE6 no one would have missed if they just traded places too. Lloyd, Linus, Leila and Fargus. Maybe not Lloyd and Linus at the same time though, might be better for the story to keep a little tragedy in there. A recruitable Morph could've also been nice. No one in FE8 really stands out to me as someone I wish was playable. I feel like everyone who dies makes the story better by dying, and the characters who don't, i.e. Hayden and Mansel, aren't that interesting. If anything, give me another option for a shaman. Getting to use Greil for a chapter or 2 would have been fun. Levail, he seemed like a good guy. BK could have also been interesting, like if a prerequisite was met, and you lose to him, he spares you and joins you. It kind of seemed like he wanted to, but maybe it's better that can't happen. At least you get to fool around with the BK for a couple maps. For Awakening, basically all of the spotpass characters before the absolute end of the game. Some of them can and should stay dead, but if you're gonna spare them, why not let them participate a little sooner, maybe get some dialogue? Phila and Mustafa too. I actually liked Zola, and think he could've been an interesting recruitable. He kind of broke modern IS's mold of making evil-looking characters completely amoral. He wasn't a masterpiece or anything, but he was a step in the right direction. Hestia, or any one of the witch sisters. Fernand, even if the plot forces him to die doing the right thing after letting you use him.
  14. Love the majority of the Tellius and Echoes generics. In particular, the Dark Mages, Fighters and Sword Masters from RD, and the Soldiers/Barons and Magic classes from Echoes. Worst, Awakening Cavaliers/Greatknights, Knights/Generals, Assassins, Bowknights(only the generics though, that hat), and Dark Mages shared with Fates. Also every Fates class where the female version is assless. Not the Fighters though, I can let it slide since they're both assless. GBA Fighters and Brigands are also a little silly, not the worst, but they're just generally goofy in a non-threatening way. I would also put Dread Fighters in worst if we were talking about our own units, because I think the outfit looks a bit too complicated/spiritual for every playable DF. BUT, the generic DF looks pretty rad. Can't fault the generics just because my units can't pull off the look.
  15. Personally I'd make most of the SD veterans, specifically the ones who are talked up in the dialogue, somewhere between lv10 and lv1 promoted in NM. Most of them already are somewhat appropriate, it's mostly just Gordin and Draug who stand out. Gordin especially, since he's implied to apprentice under Jeorge, AND they give you two, fresh babby-archers, so Gordin no longer needs to fill that role. But then you might have to pump up Marth as well. NM Marth would be a pretty cool Jeigan-lord though. Arran's presence is also a little strange. Never understood what they were hoping to gain by replacing Jeigan with him. The stats aren't that big a deal though, this game has a ton of gameplay/story disconnect when it comes to stats, it's not like pumping up Cain, Draug and Gordin would improve the narrative that much.
  16. Best, CH8, I think that's the right number. The one where you recruit Sety/Ced. Nothing too specific, I just like the pace, there's a lot to do, time to properly try out Leif and Nanna. Got the Ishtar mini-boss too. Worst, CH4. It's all pretty much been said, but yeah, bad castle order, lots of walking, the bridge, the guard, the mountains. It also contains one of the only events that might crash the game even if it's unmodified. Hope you save between turns. The section after you cross the mountains is kinda fun though.
  17. I like to think Ike and Lethe had a romance, but neither one of them was the marriage type, so they just went their separate ways. Could even be between PoR and RD. Doesn't have to result in whatever made Priam a thing, but it could, if it happened after RD. After that, if that even happens, Soren for life. I can't picture either of them living apart from each other, gay or not. Though personally I like the gay/bi idea. That's all just headcanon for me though, nothing against the Elincia ship/shippers. I think it's a cute ship, even if it's not my thing. It wouldn't destroy me to find out it was canon. Ranulf x Ike I'm not so fond of. Nothing against the shippers, I just don't think Soren would lose Ike to another man. If Ike were 100% straight, I think Soren would step into the background. But if he were gay/bi, I feel like Soren is the closest person to Ike, and it would just end up that way eventually.
  18. Jugs/Tellius for sure. I like the fire>wind>thunder setup, dark and light on the outside. But balance the magic for once. Give thunder a crit rate that matters, give fire damage that matters, wind should have hit and low weight. I'd be okay with anima sharing a weapon level, and just giving specialized mages some sort of bonus for using their specialty. Could be class based or skill based. If it were skill based, it'd also be pretty cool for when you recruit a Pent-like character, that they might have multiple tome specialization skills. Class-based would just be as simple as wind mage gains +2 speed when using a wind tome, thunder could get +15 crit if they want to just make thunder tomes +5 crit, and fire could get +1 atk and +10 hit. I like magic being pretty involved, it doesn't have to be too complicated though.
  19. Yes and yes. But only if they're done well, obviously. If con actually serves more purpose than just weapon weight and rescuing, it can be a nice minor stat, like luck, but obviously with lower growths all around, aside from characters intended to use it as their niche. It matters a lot for stealing and capturing in Thracia, and while it doesn't need to function exactly the same, it could be used similarly. Move, as long as they care and they balance it, I think it could be fun. It could also help out units in low-move classes, since IS seems determined to keep -1 movement as a penalty for being an armor unit, despite that they're already trading speed for defense, and have a common type-weakness to certain weapons. Just give it a low cap like 8, and/or if they ever bring back dismounting, make it so the extra movement doesn't apply while on your mount. Both could easily be bungled, but if they have anyone on their playtesting/balance team who just thinks about it a little, I feel it could be fine, and it could help differentiate a new title(or a certain remake) from other titles in the series.
  20. I prefer the army split+meet up, over the option A or option B method. It sounds a little greedy maybe, but if you made 20(ish) chapters for this part, why am I only playing 10? I don't mind having a couple of alt chapters here and there, but I think FE8 would have been more fun if you played Eirika and Ephraim's chapters alternatively. You have more than enough units, and it would actually make sense to use characters like Natasha and Marisa(well, maybe not Marisa) since their roles might not be filled on whichever side you send/meet them.
  21. Anyone I don't have, Genny, BIke, BLyn, and Gleirika for fodder/merges.
  22. Luke and Faye, stay away. How I've pulled two of each of you off-focus I don't know, but BLyn already has a FS, and Luke doesn't give me anything I need. Probably wouldn't be thrilled to see Mist, but I don't have one yet, so it wouldn't be the worst.
  23. Mustard+Mayo on almost any sandwich-like food I eat. Nothing against ketchup, just generally prefer the MM combo. Mustard by itself is a little iffy though, I'll give you that. Only thing I ever let mustard go solo on is corn-dogs, since the breading is usually a little bit sweet. But possibly the best thing I've ever eaten is a mushroom, mayo, mustard and white cheddar burger. I wonder if changing the cheese to muenster would make it better, get the quad M burger.
  24. Oh wow, perfect 50/50 after my vote. If they were in a story-scripted battle, I feel like Camus would win. It would be close for sure, but I think Camus has the edge, in both experience and potential. As far as we know, Camus has participated in a lot more combat than Quan, and he's just generally made out to be a big deal. Quan is excellent, but Camus is on par with the biggest FE fighters. Of course going by gameplay alone, Gae Bolg trumps Gradivus. But Gradivus doesn't exist in FE4, if it did, I'd imagine it'd be a lot closer to the Gae Bolg, though maybe still a little behind.
  25. That Feh pronounced Camus incorrectly?
