  1. On my first playthrough I made Alear a Wyvern Knight(Lance + Sword) and he turned out pretty well. Second was a Halberdier which I also turned out pretty solid. Both of those were on Hard mode. On my current Maddening run, I think I'm going to reclass to Hero because Brave Assist is sick.
  2. So I've beaten the game on Hard/Classic once and I'm doing a second playthrough again but using units I didn't use in my first run before going to Maddening. Currently at chapter 23 of that run. Best: - Ivy: Lindwurm gives her so many options to be useful. Heal, move, fly. Rewarp can increase her movement even further. - Celine: Surprisingly durable. Vidame giving access to Staves, Tomes and Swords made her pretty flexible. - Diamant: All around solid physical unit. - Alcyrst: Tieure d'elite gives Luna, which was pretty fun to use with Lyn's Astra Storm. He is also really accurate. - Seadal: Can make your best unit perform even better with Special Dance. - Framme: She was very useful the entire run in my experience. - Goldmary: Disarming Sigh is very useful. It works well with keeping the Brave Assist condition active. - Zelkov: He does his job well in Thief. The Covert units getting double avoid from terrain is quite something. Most Disappointing: - Alfred: He didn't really perform how I would of liked but when I started using him with the intention of solely having him tank hits, he did quite well. - Jade: I made her a Wyvern Knight but she still needed a lot of help to stop being doubled and she isn't as accurate as I would like. Worst: - Merrin: She was decent when I got her and doubled nearly every enemy in my first run but late game she started dealing no damage. To be fair on her, I didn't really use/understand forging during my first run.
  3. I've done a few ironman runs but I've never successfully completed one. I plan to change that this year though. I think they're fun but also kinda sad when you lose a character you really like. There is also the fact, that in more recent games, IS let players interact with characters outside of just supports via other events like tea time, my room or eating together. I think that can actually get you more invested with characters during an ironman because they won't be there to not only use but spend time with as well. The cool thing about all this is that it's a unique adventure every time. I'd recommend anyone to give it a shot at least once.
  4. Thanks for the reply. I didn't even think to do that tbh, I'll have to start doing that for now then.
  5. Hi, I've got a question. Is there any way to see the weapon MT on an enemy?
  6. I've never actually touched normal mode because I usually find lower difficulties boring. Hard mode can offer a decent challenge. It's not crazy level thinking but it can keep you on your toes. The endgame maps get really fun and push you a bit. GD endgame made me pay attention to Battalions. But I did find myself getting bored with 3H as a whole because it didn't offer me much of a challenge. I even stopped playing it until Maddening mode came out. I am on the fence on the lowered difficulty. If it were just about me, I don't think there should be lowered difficulty between series. I was expecting Conquest level gameplay or something similar. So I find it really disappointing when 3H doesn't live up to that. But looking beyond just me, it does make it easier for newcomers to get into the game. If a game is too hard some people won't play it since not everyone wants to play a really hard game. Which is one of the reasons why they made both Birthright and Conquest to appease both sides of this.
  7. He's the Meme King of Persona Emblem: Meme Houses. ... Honestly I have no idea though.
  8. I just caught up with this. Congrats on getting this far on Ironman Lunatic. I make so many mistakes when I play Fire Emblem, I don't know how you manage to play and remain so focused. You're almost at the end of your journey now! Good luck!!
  9. I usually play with windows open as well. I've only ironmaned Awakening once and it was when I first got the game several years ago. I'm thinking I should start doing that too. I've never really used the children characters in either game much, so it would give me something to try out as well. I think that mentality is perfect for learning and improving! You can help others and also compare knowledge and maybe see a different perspective too. I think I'm going to make notes on pairings for Fates on my next run. That is definitely a lot of supports haha.
  10. Thanks for the responses guys! These are great! I was working so I could not respond right away. I'm liking all the responses. While there are some things that differ, I feel like they're a lot of things in common and now I have a better understanding of the types of notes I need to take. That's a good idea to take notes of the pairings you want beforehand. I should start doing that with. And that spreadsheet is really awesome! Saving notes for specific items on characters to reach stat benchmarks, that's really important. Yeah keeping reinforcement notes for games like Conquest makes total sense. These are very good. I love the tips on making characters useful, that is something I will do as well. Uh... Why did the text turn white...? Compiling things you do not find on a computer makes sense. I've been thinking to do that in games that don't have the enemy stats online. I haven't beaten FE4 yet but I would love to see it eventually! I take notes for fighting games mostly. "How to do it" is a really good one! Because if I haven't played a game in a really long time I will forget what strategy I used to beat the map. You could write one of those strategy guide books :) That's really impressive that you remember things in your head like that. I know I definitely forget things easily XD That's how I used to do it for this game. But I kinda want to take it to the next level, since it really helped me improve at fighting games. I understand that. I don't like looking stuff up online while playing either tbh. Weapon stats seems like a good thing to have on hand. Logging support points is really interesting. Too many times I stop playing and complete forget what I was doing with the file. And turn count is a great idea for measuring your improvement.
  11. This question is mostly for the hardcore FE players or those trying to get better at the game. I was wondering, do FE players take notes on specific titles they play? If so, what kind of notes do you take? I want to start taking notes myself, because I want to improve at this game.
  12. Wow that must of taken quite a while. Much appreciated. I think I'm going to go with Black Eagles on my first run. The bonus girl has my interest though... I wanna find out who that is.
  13. It's more about their performance for me, but I do like some characters who are terrible units like, Forde from FE8 and Lyre from FE10.
  14. Character wise: In terms of personality, I'm going to say Camilla. She's an emotionally damaged character who was traumatized by her past and it controls how she interacts with those around her. She's also consistent when comparing supports personality to her story personality. Unit wise: Camilla. She joins earlier, high bases, flight, she can get her Swordreaver weapon on her join chapter which grants her high WTA.
