  1. "Fuck!" Abigail yelled as her camera feed began to display static and white noise. You think that's gonna stop me? She opened fire with her gatling, her feed stabilizing just long enough to see the hit connect. No sooner had she done that than a pair of rippers slammed into her; she fired back at what she assumed to be the source, but had no idea if she hit the new target. We'll get torn to shreds at this rate... "Sena, Hilling, focus on the one that's closest to us; we can't let them get to the hostages yet." Sena's shot went wide and one of their pilots decided to be a hero, stepping in front of Hilling's target and taking the attack themselves. Just great... She herself didn't fair much better, her camera feed filling with static at the perfect moment, for the other pilot anyway, and a new set of warning popped up. Terry had finally decided to be useful but he received far worse than he gave. Shit, at this rate we'll be torn to shreds... "Sena, Hilling... You too, Terry. I don't want any of you to die here. If they push you to your machine's limits then I want you to return to the ship. And If they do shoot one of you down, I want the other two to make sure they make it back to the ship. I can hold them off for at least that long." Sena, Hilling, and Terry will retreat if they reach 20% HP or one of them gets shot down.
  2. Abby had absolutely had it with this mission. Her men were just getting picked off left and right while she was sitting back and doing nothing about it. At least Terry hadn't tried to give her lip over her orders. "Sena, Hilling! We don't have much time left so we're moving in on these punks to get some more! If they dogpile you and you're about to go down I want you to eject; I don't care if you think you can take them down with just another shot. It's not worth the risk. Let's show them that we mean business!" If they take you two out then they're gonna have to answer to me. I'll push this mech to its limits to return the favor. In the middle of her charge her comms blared to life again. Oh, who could it be this time!? "Red Leader it's Blue Leader. I've made it back to the ship. We can escape as soon as you're ready. Over." Good, she's made it back then. I don't have to worry about that anymore...
  3. Abigail did not like Terry's response one bit. "Now listen here. You take orders from me whether you like it or not; I'm the commander here and what I say is more important than whatever stupid grudge you have against that patrol, understand? That thing isn't even a threat! So, I'm going to say it once. Ignore it and get your ass over here and start buying some time with everyone else." She closed the connection; she had given her order did not need a response. No sooner than she had she done that, Vera's voice came through her channel to her mercs. She resisted the urge slam her fist against the wall of the cockpit in frustration. Of course she'd get involved now, why should I have expected anything different? Taking a moment to breathe, she radioed back to her men. "Well, that's that then. First of all, get the wounded back to the ship. Everyone not doing that needs to double around and try to get into the room from the back. We can't let them escape after all of this. Over." Just as she was about to lean back and sigh, shit hit the fan. Her men were getting torn to pieces! Hell, they even had reinforcements! God fucking dammit! She immediately opened a channel to them. " Don't let them through! Use your damn plasma bucklers!" C'mon, just a little more time! Hurry up Calina!
  4. Abigail did not like what she was, essentially, being forced to witness. Her men were being picked apart one by one and the ANF bastards weren't even down a single unit. "What are they, a squad of aces!?" she yelled into her comms; thankfully they were only open to Sena and Hilling at the moment. She could feel the urge to charge into the fray building as time went on and on. Patience had never been one of her strong suits and it was killing her to just sit back and watch. She couldn't risk compromising the mission, however; they needed the scientists and their information before anything else. "Hey," she radioed to the extraction team, her tone surprisingly calm given the circumstances, "Red Leader here. How much longer do you think that damn android is going to hold out? We're running out of time before we have to scrap everything and go." Above all else, she was going to ensure that at least some of them made it out of this alive. And if that meant everything up until this point was pointless, well she'd just have to take responsibility for it. "We're making progress," came the reply, gunfire making up most of the background noise. "We got a few more hits in, but so did it! Over!" "Over." Amidst the chaos, it seemed that two more mechs had made their way into the battlefield. Wait, if they came from that direction then... "Terry!" Abigail yelled as she opened a private comm to him, "What the hell do you think you're doing!? You should've gotten an order to head back here immediately but you're chasing a fucking police bot! Leave the small fry alone and help us buy some time!" She leaned back in her seat while she waited for his response. Hopefully Calina isn't too far behind him. I'm not leaving her behind.
  5. Naylen's eyes widened as the ground itself gave way and a river popped up out of nowhere. What? Who? Where? When? How? It just didn't make sense, rivers didn't just pop up out of nowhere. There had to be some explanation, maybe Telmara would know something... She snapped to attention at Itzal's shout. So far he wasn't doing much other than that, besides slashing anyway. His target was still alive, but she could easily fix that. Naylen to I13, attack Bandit A with her iron sword.
  6. Naylen didn't like the wall of enemies about to fall on them. Well, her if she stayed where she was. Although she didn't like the thought of stepping back when faced by people like this, it as better than flat out dying. Naylen to F-15
  7. "Blue Leader to Red Leader, we're heading back early. Ran into some complications. Over." Calina accidentally let a sigh slip as the radio beeped. Abby wasn't going to like that, especially after she told her why they had to leave early. It would probably best to leave out the fact she ordered Terry to go after the patrol bot. And right on cue, her radio beeped back to life, a none too pleased Abby on the other end. "What the hell for!? I sent you there so that this kind of thing wouldn't happen! Just what the hell made you-" Abby cut off as the colony itself faintly rumbled and the sound of a muted explosion followed. "Nevermind," she sounded frantic. "Just get back here ASAP!" "Roger, heading back as fast as we can. Over." "Wh-What was that?" Sena squeaked. "Sounds like trouble," Hilling said dryly. "What are your orders Red Leader?" Silence. "Red Leader?" Abby was hunched over in her chair. What the hell. Just... what the hell!? This was supposed to be an easy job. Go in, light up the defenders, steal the stuff and get out. But no, I had to stall because the scientists are guarded by some killer android and I didn't want to sacrifice my men and now we're fucked. Just straight up fucked because of me. This is why I didn't want to be in charge but somehow everyone thought I'd be the best- "Ahem!" Abby looked up. "Red Leader, your orders?" "Ah, er, I don't think I-"R-Right, I- Slap. The sharp sting on her cheek occupied her senses. Just who had... "Ge-Get a hold of yourself! Just because something went wrong doesn't mean it's the end of the world. You're our leader because we believe you can lead us out of any situation, no matter how dire! O-Or at least I do... but! That should be enough!" Abigail roused herself from her seat, looking down at her younger advisor. She looked ready to bolt, but still found the courage to stand there and stare back at her. Heh, didn't think she had it in her. But she's right, I shouldn't be crumbling over this. "Right. Hilling, you and I are going to go speed up escape preparations and once that's done we'll sortie if we need to. Sena, you stay here and wait for Calina to get back. In the meantime, call the patrols and the extermination squad back, we're going to need to be at our strongest if we're going to make it out of here."
  8. Naylen looked down coldly at the man she had slain with her claws, trying to flick the blood off them. Certainly not the first use of her claws for something akin to hunting prey, but definitely the first time she'd used them on a human. It was a bit surprising at how easily they had cut through the man's armor and flesh; she could see why some would call her a monster. However, there wasn't much time to mull it over in the middle of a fight. As she moved onto her next target she drew her sword, not really wanting literally more blood on her claws. Naylen to H13, stab Bandit E with Iron Sword.
  9. I say doit though you probably knew I'd say that
  10. The audacity of Haley honestly surprised Naylen. It was one thing to put down someone for being a demihuman, but to actually try and kill someone just for being different? 'Unbelievable, absolutely unbelievable...' She was more than willing to take the front line against such people. But she would not fight them with her steel. If they wanted to kill monsters then monsters they would fight. Naylen moves to F10, ensure Tearing Claws are equipped.
  11. Naylen was glad that Telmara's tears were due to happiness; however, she wasn't pleased by the reasoning behind it. She had forgotten that she was able to blend in better than most demihumans during her adventures outside of Grunan and as such hadn't felt the isolation that she had expected to feel. "Hey, Telmara, if you ever need or want to talk I'd be glad to listen," Naylen said, offering her fellow demihuman a small smile. It seemed that talk of appointing a leader for their group had come up after Telmara asked who the leader was. It seemed that Kaya, the woman with the staves, was the popular choice for varying reasons between the group. Naylen had no strong feelings as to who should lead so long as they were competent, she barely knew anyone anyway, and certainly didn't want to do it herself. "I don't see any reason to change leaders if no one else does."
  12. "No, Telmara, it's not alright. If you don't stand up to them, then what's going to stop them from walking all over you?" It was, perhaps, not the best attitude to have when she was aiming for an improved form of coexistence; but at the same time, she couldn't tolerate the ignorant babble spewing from this woman's mouth. Speaking of her, she had finally decided to show herself and seemed more than ready for a fight. 'If that's what you want then let's go, so long as it shuts you up.' Naylen was ready to move as soon as Haley did, however, before it could even start she had gotten cut off mid-taunt. Thankful for the silence, and the woman's retreat, Naylen began to calm down. The man responsible approached the group 'wait when did all these people get here' and introduced himself as Varann, an archeologist. "Thanks for handling that before it got out of control," Naylen thanked him sheepishly, knowing she had been part of the problem. At least they seemed to had found a group from the ordeal at least. "Whew... looks like it all worked out in the end," Naylen said as she turned to Telmara with a slight smile. Before she saw her tears, though it seemed someone else had seen them as well, 'must be one of our new group' Naylen could only assume their identity. "Telmara, are you okay?"
