  1. Unpopular opinion warning, if you can't handle people's opinions in a mature fashion, I highly suggest you stop reading. I'd prefer if there's no Fire Emblem character/story/etc. influence. IMO the game is held back by Fire Emblem's weak story and them being scared to hurt the image of the Fire Emblem series (which is part of why they had all the incarnations of characters be weird and everything be not-canon). They have a really great game going on here but the FE references and inspirations are more of a bonus, I'd prefer if it could somehow become its own hardcore JRPG series independent of FE (though I like things like the weapon triangle-based weaknesses and FE-based classes/mirages/weapons, of course, so it wouldn't be quite that simple...). I'd prefer it doubly so if they were to choose to get mirages from games like FE13 (again) and FE14. They'd be alienating all the people who hated Fates and the direction Fire Emblem is going into. As it is TMS#FE missed out on a lot of sales due to the odd direction it had and only focusing on FE11/13, the former being somewhat poorly received and not well-liked and the latter being highly controversial. To me, a TMS sequel would basically be corrupted by having to deal with the crap of Fire Emblem, and I don't expect them to start making FE games I think are good (and even if they did it's too late to fix the abomination that was Fates—your personal opinion may differ, but the point is that it's a controversial game that a lot of people passionately dislike), so the only solution in my mind is to remove FE from the equation and keep what's good about the game. I don't expect this to happen, but eh. It's hard to get good games IRL, so at least let me dream, lol.
  2. no, I'm not and you have too much free time, Silver
  3. pretty sure every single one of those is coming out on another more current-gen console though (some Vita, some PS4, some both), so I personally don't value them. not to mention they're almost exclusively JRPGs. part of the reason PS3 is still getting games has to do with localization and Japanese companies being conservative with truly transitioning to next-gen systems. (It's also easier to justify crappier graphics when the bottom-line is the Vita or PS3, though I technically have no evidence that that's a serious consideration when companies decide to keep putting their games on the PS3.) The PS3 is part of the last generation of systems, so it's games are cheaper, sometimes even new copies are dirt cheap, and the console is relatively cheap (and there should be plenty of used ones too), and the only games it's really getting now are like, (sometimes shady ports of) Japanese games and the like which tend to have a rather specific target audience that doesn't appeal to most people. so yeah, it's basically dead to me. more alive than the Wii and Xbox 360 for sure, but it has nothing upcoming to offer you can't get elsewhere just as good or better, as far as I know. that's not really a negative though, that's a good thing. it means now is a great time to get a PS3, which is why I recommended it. so in that sense I'm not sure why you're arguing with me, but eh. and yes, the Wii U is basically dead now that the NX has been announced to come in March 2017, but that just happened and we've yet to see a price drop or see if there are going to be any final games coming from Nintendo for Wii U outside of TMS#FE and Paper Mario Color Splash. (Obviously with their E3 announcement it's not looking likely, but still.) Between that, potential backwards compatibility with the NX, and a lot of games not having dropped price much yet, the console is still in that transition period between "relevant" and "dead" IMO, and it's best to wait until it's out of that period in order to make the best purchasing decision—or people may end up wasting a lot more money. In other words, the PS3 is just a safer choice precisely because it's old (if you don't want to call it "dead", fine, but despite being a JRPG fanatic I personally recognize that JRPGs have very limited appeal and value) and its successor has already been on the market for... over 2 years now, I think. :\
  4. RIP, thanks for responding at least
  5. pretty sure it does (I remember a few moments where it was hard to hear characters so IIRC I changed up the volume), though I can't guarantee it'll work in cutscenes. no I couldn't care less that you're not buying it, but it's because you have to share your opinion in such an extreme and provoking way that it starts up conflict and people aren't so willing to respect your opinion--because you're not respecting the game or its creators with your words your exaggeration aside, it's the above that's causing problems. if s/he had said something like "It looks rather bland from a gameplay perspective, and I thought the attacks looked kinda stupid. Plus it's not representing the source material in a way I can appreciate it, so I'm not buying it" I doubt any reasonable person would have a problem with that. of course since the flashy attack animations are a draw of the game and many people very much appreciated how much it draws from SMT (the series as a whole, including the main games, the Devil Survivor series, and Persona series that eventually became its own thing) and Fire Emblem (gameplay-wise, story-wise, character-wise, and even music-wise, with other references and inspirations and such), criticizing these in such a manner is basically saying 1 of 2 things about the person: 1) "I'm a jerk and can't share my opinion in a nice way" 2) "I'm bitter and trying to get out some of my frustrations by bashing the game" not going to argue about the game itself, the real problem here are people's attitudes and lack of respect. Atlus and Nintendo collaborated on a very polished project that took inspiration from two major series and it didn't turn out like most people expected but I'd like to think people have enough tact to not say something like 'it's a mockery of the source material'--that's a bit rude considering that's a very subjective statement coming from someone who isn't a creator of the game or the material it took inspiration from and it's been stated to be/marketed as a new IP anyway personally after the release of Fates, I would say TMS#FE is too good for the FE series. as much as I enjoyed all the references and such, it would be nice if it split off and became its own series so it's not held back by Fire Emblem, lol. sadly gameplay-wise I think that'd have some issues (weapon triangle, classes, etc.) so we'll see.
  6. PS3 for me it's different, I own about 2x as many Wii U games, at least physical--i get so many dumb PS3 games for free idk how many I have digital but I've bought dozens digital for Wii U so Wii U might still win out there. don't remember how long I've had each console but maybe about the same time give or take several months. that being said, it depends on you/it's up to you, I'd say Wii U is more relevant rn but that will end soon, and if the NX does have proper backwards compatibility you have the benefit of being able to keep your games and such but at the cost of selling your Wii U and losing money on that. I think the PS3 has a wider range of appeal with its games but you didn't list like shooters or action-adventure games or such so eh personally I think the PS3 would be a better choice since it's basically dead, the games are cheap, and there's no real chance for physical-game backwards compatibility at this point but I like the Wii U and think it's the higher quality so my instinct is to suggest that... just, there are too many variables such as a price drop, NX backwards compatibility, etc. that makes me think now's not the best time to buy one.
  7. I know a lot have been tried, are there any actual completed ones that don't suck? or maybe an easy mode or hard mode patch or something? thanks.
  8. think I'll just pin my hopes on an eventual eShop release rather than trying to spend thousands of hours porting a game to inferior hardware, but gl
  9. how am I getting defensive? there is nothing to defend, as far as I see. I don't like the culture of pre-ordering (especially LEs/SEs) to get the full experience either, I don't get your point and I don't want to debate anything either, I just wanted to laugh. so feel free to defend yourself, but it will change nothing. if you don't like being laughed at, too bad: people who think you're acting dumb will laugh at you. same with people who think I'm acting dumb. you can try to change or you can just accept that you will be laughed at and hold your head high with your beliefs, which is respectable. =) (or you can be stubborn and get upset that someone is laughing at your beliefs, I guess, but there's no merit in that...)
  10. no, so don't buy the game. by extension of your logic, since Eliwood isn't the game and he was shown in original the teaser, there needs to be a mod to put him in or else you can't buy it because it's false advertising/they changed their own game plans/etc. also lol @ the conspiracy theory
  11. There are probably going to be a ton of other streams going on too but good luck with yours! I would just ditto the advice about purple mirages (enemies): as SOON as you see one, save. It's easy to get screwed over and lose and I lost quite a bit of progress early on due to some... carelessness on my part. If you feel like you definitely can't win, use the smokescreen item or whatever to run away. Also, I'm against grinding out a game like this in general, but regardless, I highly suggest doing all the side-stories and stuff. That's really where the game is at IMO and it also helps you in combat. To each their own, of course, but I can't imagine anyone just beating the game's main story in like 25 hours (it's probably feasible) and actually having enjoyed it.
  12. Ahh, okay, that's good to know. Thanks for that. (And thanks for making a complete hack! I'm looking forward to beating it!)
  13. Oooh, that's the source of inspiration? That's awesome. I do like that idea/am a fan of "super tough enemy amidst weaker ones" in general, so long as it's not executed super annoyingly, haha.
  14. Yo, so I started LPing this game recently, I kind of assumed you're ok with that but just to be respectful, are you ok with that? Let me know. So far it's pretty good, the story seems way more interesting than any other FE-like games I've played in a while though I'm only up to chapter 2, and the character writing is pretty solid, but I found chapter 1 to be extremely difficult. It ended up ok later but it seems like I was not only getting screwed RNG-wise but also the chapter seems significantly more difficult based on your approach due to the nature of reinforcements that I couldn't predict, but eh. My point being not to complain but rather ask, am I the only one who was having trouble or what? Because I was a little surprised to hear there's a hard mode given how long and tough chapter 1 was, lol. Maybe it gets easier later, I kinda hope so, haha. EDIT: While I haven't played a more classic FE game like the GBAFEs in a while, I'm not a total scrub at FE, no. And basically once I pulled the two powerful units down and learned the timings of the map it wasn't so hard, but until then I was basically screwed since everyone but Val was near useless, lol
  15. Oh dang, awesome. I'm glad they're relatively open to this kind of thing, haha. Haha, I don't know about THAT, but it's cool that they're repping it or whatever. Ooh, cool story (and I don't mean that sarcastically, haha). Going to have to check this Twitter out now...
  16. someone did this for TLP and it doesn't even save properly. RIP. can still play it on my 3DS though using a GBA emulator in all seriousness, that's really unfortunate Arch. sorry to hear that. I was in a similar situation once upon a time and just decided to disassemble the events and recreate whatever I needed/go from there, but it did make things a bit more difficult than I'd have liked. I was fortune that my patch wasn't too far behind but not having any documentation or anything was pretty awful, which is why I now try to back-up as much as I can... anyway, gl with whatever you plan to do from hereon out. It'd be nice if EN finishes some day, finished products are a lot more fun than unfinished ones, IMO, and I'd like to play it when it's done.
  17. So... this is legit? I do want to experience FE4 some day, so it'd be nice if it were...
  18. The next patch is out, yay! Congratulations! Sounds like it's pretty awesome too. =)
  19. I think Fate's story is terrible so either way I'm not invested in the characters enough to feel bad about either choice. But yeah, given that Nohr is presented as more of the "bad guys", I can see why it might be difficult to choose Nohr if you're not into that.
  20. Ooh, a release date. Awesome. Also @Wayward, it's a lot more complicated than that. all I can say on the matter without derailing, but consider doing research into it on your own if you want to understand why Europe is getting shafted, lol
  21. Matthew? he at least had a few more moments of dialog (and his relationship with Leila) which is more than could be said of a lot of characters in the GBA FE games, lol
  22. "they really have no choice" -> no, they do. they can just cancel it. it's happened before. just like how they said "Zelda will definitely come in 2015" and then delayed it, they can do things like cancel a game. It is their game after all and there is no law saying they have to. Sorry to be a killjoy haha, I just thought I should get that straight. "about how it turned out after what the very first trailer promised :(" - I'm assuming you're talking about the announcement video in 2013? if so, this has been said a thousand times before, but that trailer did not promise anything. that was fans jumping to conclusions and misunderstanding the intent of that video. you can blame Nintendo for "misleading" people if you want but it's really just the usual internet thing of jumping the gun. they never promised anything about the game and back then it was still only in its early planning stages. It was pretty obvious IMO that they only announced it so they could run the FE/SMT $30 eShop deal while giving people context about that (otherwise said deal would be super weird/make no sense), but I think people misinterpreted it as reflecting on the actual game, when it was literally just there way of showing off the history of the series by showing artwork from characters. If you think about it, if they WERE going to have those characters in the game, they'd probably use new artwork, not to mention the general format of the video and how sloppily it was done is indicative of its nature, which is nothing more than "we have to announce the game so we can run this promotion, but we don't actually have anything to say or show about this game besides the fact that it exists, so we'll throw out a quick video". All that said and done though, you're free to be disappointed of course. I just wanted to say my piece on why I think people shouldn't claim that Nintendo, ATLUS, or IS promised anything, because they simply didn't: they didn't make any statement about the game or use the words "I promise" or anything like that except for a small comment made sometime after saying that the game would be an RPG, followed by about 2 years of silence, lol. Any ideas about the game were basically just assumptions/dreams. I totally think it's fine to be disappointed in how it turned out, though. I'm personally not as the game looks, sounds, and plays great to me, is what ATLUS does best, and is more innovative than I could have ever imagined—though a tactical RPG would have been very cool in its own right—but yeah, there are about a thousand different ways the collab could have turned out. This is just one of them, haha. It's obvious how most people feel from the sales #'s, methinkz. XP
