  1. The game could take several pages from X-COM: Enemy Unknown. Firstly, an ironman mode that overwrote your save whenever you took an action. Secondly, as you beat EU on higher difficulties, you unlocked more gameplay modifiers for future playthroughs, which both benefits replayability and encourages players to play on harder difficulties. A system like that for FE14 would be welcome, in my opinion.
  2. If I had to hazard a guess, I'd say it's because Pokémon's worldwide popularity is huge. Nintendo would want to get the game released in all regions as soon as they possibly could, as to sell as many units as they could. Also, a simultaneous worldwide release was ideal because a lot of X and Y's online features were designed with worldwide connectivity in mind (online trading, especially wonder trade, and wifi battles jump out at me), compared to Fire Emblem, which has only had online multiplayer in two games, only one of which was ever released worldwide, so a simultaneous release for Fire Emblem, a far less popular series than Pokémon, is a lot less of a priority.Edit: ninja'd by VincentASM himself!
  3. I feel like it would probably crash the game, since it would be trying to access data that (likely) isn't there.
  4. We can probably throw out Conqueror, Prince, Princess (Celica's and Lachesis's version of Princess are too different to be counted as truly the same class, IMO), Pupil, and Journeyman, seeing as they were locked to a single character. Additionally, classes that are different between genders in name only, like priest/cleric and dancer/bard (Nils's version is identical to Ninian's dancer in every way but name and sprites, and Lewyn's version is exclusive to him). We can also throw out Manakete, because not only have there been male Manaketes in several games (Jahn, a bunch of generics in the Akanea games, a handful of bosses in the Akanea games), but there's a playable male Manakete in FE1/3/11/12, Bantu, who's one of my favorite characters in the series. That leaves the final tally at 6 male exclusive classes (Fighter, Pirate, Barbarian, Dread Fighter, Hunter, and Monk) and 3 female exclusive classes (Pegasus Knight, Troubadour, and Bride). Though I'd argue that Monk shouldn't count as male exclusive, as they're pretty much just Light Mages, but I understand why the two classes wouldn't be counted as the same.
  5. I'll have to give this one to Chrom, because he never really seems to learn from Emmeryn's mistakes, except sometimes when he does seem to have learned from Emmeryn's mistakes. He's remarkably static in his dynamism. Honorable mention goes to Roy for being worse than the trashy majority of FE6's cast. The "cream of the crap", if you will. I like him as a character, though, so that saves him.
  6. I agree, but still stay away from the opposite end of the stereotype spectrum, the tomboy stereotype. I, personally, would want a character that exhibits some qualities that are traditionally "masculine", as well as some that are traditionally "feminine". Basically, OP, I'd want a protagonist that's a human character (for want of a better word. I'd be a-okay with the lead character being a Manakete, Laguz, Taguel, space alien, whatever) above all else.
  7. Areone in FE4, the first time you fight him. Actually, make that any boss with Prayer.
  8. So am I the only one who's fine with certain classes being male or female only, so long as there's an solid lore explanation for it? Like, Pegasus Knights being female only is explained well because pegasi don't trust men (I think). Of course, there's no possible explanation of why women can't be fighters, because I'm pretty sure that axes will trust you regardless of gender.
  9. I want Fighters, Barbarians, Brigands, Pirates, Corsairs, Axe Knights, and Axe Armors all to be in the game, and to serve distinctly different roles. They all should have unique promotions. Gibe Fire Axeblem pls. I would like to see Prince/Princess and Master Knight return, but not if the game handles class changing like Awakening did. I don't think that Master Knights would work at all in a game with branching promotion and the ability to keep leveling ad infinitum. Basically anyone who could be a Master Knight would be a Master Knight, unless some major changes were made to the class. Even if Master Knight's stats were nerfed, having access to every physical weapon type, anima and light magic, and staff utility is a very valuable ability.
  10. It might depend on whether or not we count spin-offs as part of the franchise. For example, do we count Mario Kart as a Mario game, or is it its own franchise?
  11. I'd like the idea of being presented with two (or more) choices, with a morally sound, but tactically poor option, and a tactically sound, but morally questionable option. If (kek) the game's goal with the whole more choices thing is to make the player think, which I believe that choice in games should ultimately do, then making it easier to be the bad guy than the good guy would be something I'd find interesting.
  12. I think that if we do see it in 2015, it will be later in the year. Maybe around the holidays? Shush don't say these things.
  13. Why not use the same engine? Awakening's engine was pretty solid.
  14. So did I, but luckily the surgery went well and they were removed safely.
  15. No, call it [/sarcasm] I don't speak or read Japanese, so I probably don't know what I'm talking about, but could "seisen" be translated as "crusader" as well as "crusade"? Because "Fire Emblem: Descent of Crusaders" or "Fire Emblem: Crusaders' Bloodlines" could be cool.
  16. Light magic, IMO, was always more of a method of self-defense for classes whose main utility wasn't on the front lines, like the Bishop. If they actually wanted to balance the three magics, they should give each a distinct function. Anima could be your bread-and-butter offensive magic, dark could have offset hit rate and perhaps might for unique effects like Noseratu, Luna, Eclipse, Waste, and Jörmungandr have, and light magic could carry blessings from the gods in the form of stat buffs. But I'm rambling now, aren't I?
  17. Someone missed the MaMUxFeMU shipping fad.
  18. I second this 100%. Hell, not only do I want varied objectives, I want multiple options on how to achieve my objectives. If my objective is to defeat the boss, I want to be able to surround the boss on all four sides, and hold them for ransom.
  19. For example, the endings could change not based on clearly laid out choices (i.e., give Gangrel the Fire Emblem, or don't), but based on how you played the game. Like, if you spared a lot of the enemy during seize missions, you would be praised for showing mercy, or if you did a gaiden chapter in which you rescued a group of villagers, they would come to your aid later on.
