  1. As the title says above, let's discuss wallpapers, or themes that you can decorate for your 2DS/3DS. What does everyone have? What are your favourites? I currently have the Fire Emblem Fates theme featuring the two families, which I got as a gift when I bought Conquest. This is the only one I have, as surprisingly, there is almost none that I like. I might get a Zelda OoT/Skyward Sword theme later on. But that is really it for me. There was a theme from Pokémon which I really would have liked to get - it was a stylised version of Serena with her Pokémon (titled Pokemon: Heroine - see here). I also saw two Pokémon Movie (from the XY series) themes, which I wouldn't mind getting. Sadly, all three are Japan-exclusive, and thus unobtainable in my Australian 2DS. Actually, what is with the utter lack of Calem and Serena (or any other human PCs besides Red and Blue) for the Pokemon-related themes? Outside of Pokémon, I understand that Earthbound or Golden Sun would not get a theme - actually, I would be very surprised, though overjoyed, if there was. What I am surprised, however, is the lack of FE Akaneia/Awakening-related themes - I wonder what the heck is going on.
  2. Alright, so the game's been out for about a week, now. How far have you all gotten? What are your thoughts on it? Personally, I like it, for the most part. Everything's been rather pleasant, and the visuals are very nice to look at. I haven't bought any weapons or armor, yet. I've ran through the game with only what I've found and I've just finished up Greenthumb Gardens which I am very depressed about. I knew entirely what was going to happen, so it wasn't exactly fun to relive that. Only downside is, I can't recall for the life of me how to do the Monster Park. I've sent monsters there, but haven't seen them.
  3. http://www.siliconera.com/2015/10/05/shin-megami-tensei-iv-final-announced/ Finally some more MAINLINE SMT. Thank you.
  4. lmao, so no joke, my friend and I were playing a couple rounds of Smash 4, and I like to go random as he's still trying to come to grips with the game, right. So we pick the stage, and it gives us a tip for Palutena, and I kinda have this weak moment in my brain where I go: "Palutena.. Palutena, Palute- who is Palutena?" So the battle starts, cue her entrance animation, and my mind goes blank so I pause the game and look at him, and he mirrors my look. We both laugh in the moment, because.. Palutena is just so irrelevant in Smash 4. I COMPLTELEY forgot she existed, at all. And I secondary Pit!
  5. Originally wasn't going to do a thread on this, but its been confirmed to be localized after months of Japanese only information. Dragon Ball has actually had a number of RPGs over the years, be it the trilogy for the Famicom, the SNES one, the various DS ones (all of which are pretty solid games barring like the first Famicom one). Most of them were based on card systems, this one apparently is not. Like in the more recent Dragon Ball Xenoverse you have a customizable main character who can be one of the various DB races, and a main gimmick of this game looks to be fusing your favorite characters together, like i'll probably be merging my favorite Dragon Ball peeps like Tien, Yamcha and Krillin (yes i'm more a fan of classic Dragon Ball over Z and such, but I still like Z and such) with various random people just to see the hilarious results, and of course fusing other people as well. This will be on the 3DS and launch on December 13th.
  6. As per suggested by Knife, I am trying out the Swiss format of tournaments, however, since the KoD tourney is currently ongoing, the start of this tourney is likely not to be till around the 23rd or so possibly later due to the lack of sign ups currently. That's your general time frame. Looking for 16 players. For an explaination of what Swiss is, scroll past the rule-set. The Bracket Welcome to my 2nd 3DS tourney! Ruleset 3 Stock 8 Minutes Best 2 Out of 3 5 Round Swiss No Customs Stage List Starter Stages ● Battlefield ● Final Destination ● Yoshi's Island Counterpick Stages ●Dreamland 64 ●Prism Tower ●Duck Hunt ● Omega Stages* * Treated as Final Destination in banning phase. If Final Destination is banned, Omega Stages are banned and vice versa. What is a Swiss styled tournament? A swiss tournament, is when the players all go a set number of rounds against certain opponents. No one is eliminated, instead players get points for their performance every round. Those with similar points will face off in the later rounds, the first round will be based on seeds, that Euklyd my second in command so to speak, sets up. The point setups are thus. You get 1 point for winning a match in a set, you get 1 whole point for winning a set. This will result in the winner of a set getting 3 points, but if you manage a win even if you lose the set, you'll still come out of the set with a point to your name. A perfect score would be 15 points. As we are doing 5 rounds. If there is a tie between two people, then we will have a best 3 out of 5 grand finals, if there is more than 2 tied somehow, we will continue with another round, until there is a proper victor The way stage choice works is thus, either both players agree to a stage to start on, or do a method to decide who starts striking stages, my personal suggestion is Game & Watch Hammer, which is when both players pick Game & Watch and use his Side B move and whomever gets a higher number gets the first stage strike. This is also a good way to lag test. The person who strikes first, strikes a stage from the Starter list, then the 2nd person strikes a stage and this continues until only one starter stage left which is the one you both play on Whomever wins a match, can strike 2 stages and the person who lost may select out of the remaining legal stages. There is also something called Dave's Stupid rule, where you cannot counter-pick to a stage you've won on in the set This will keep the strict timelines seen in Joined by Fate (JBF), However since this is Swiss, the time-frames will be somewhat more generous. 4 to 5 days a round Character Changes - While you can change your characters during the set, you must tell your opponent you are switching and who to, as is proper in an official tournament. Unless you 2 agree to be secretive, I don't mind either way There is also the Gentleman's agreement, in which both players can agree to play on a nonlegal stage, this also can override Dave's Stupid Rule Mii Fighters are allowed, but they must be 1111 set, sorry folks. - Not Sure About Replays at this point of time. - Please give me your friend code when you sign up, unless you have reasons not to do so. 7. Ok, I have a bit of an issue. I originally got DQVIII for the PS2 a few years back and it was a fun time. Unfortunately, I had MAJOR issues with the discs I got(Got them off Ebay). The first disc I got, the intro cutscene(the first one before you get to the first town) wouldn't load properly(music would play, but the screen was blank). The second disc, I actually got pretty far, but when I got to the cutscene before you get your boat(EDIT: a good couple hours into the game...probably 10-15+ hours, partly due to me exploring and the what not), partway through, it froze. No matter what I did, it always froze. This happened when I was teenager and didn't really get much money(and this was AFTER the 30 or 7 day return policy) so I just left it at that. Now that DQVIII is getting a port(with some extras) for the 3DS(and I actually have money), I've had this confliction on whether I should get the PS2 version again(off Amazon this time) or just wait to get the 3DS version(and start over). What do you guys think?
  8. http://www.siliconera.com/2016/08/30/nintendo-direct-presentation-coming-thursday-upcoming-3ds-games/ Albeit, only for upcoming 3DS games. Nevertheless, it's... something at least. Right? Outside of Pokemon Sun and Moon, forthcoming releases on the system seem kinda lacking. Not expecting anything longer than 20 minutes.
  9. I meant to make this post a while ago, but I've discovered something interesting about the enemy AI mechanics from my playthroughs of Awakening and Fates on emulators. As you might imagine, there are times when the enemy AI has to make a "random" decision about what to do, usually involving choosing between two (or more) equally good spaces from which to attack one of your units. So how does it go about doing this? Well, in GBAFE and FEDS, the game would just burn some RNs from the standard RNG to make the decision. In Radiant Dawn, something more complicated goes on which I don't completely understand and won't elaborate on here. In FE3DS, however, it appears that the game uses a separate RNG string (sort of like the one that has been used to prevent arrow retracing RNG abuse since FE10) that is time dependent. What this means, is that under certain circumstances when you make a Bookmark/Battle Save, you are not always guaranteed to get the same results upon reloading your Bookmark/Battle Save! Due to the (rout) nature of most maps in Awakening, this doesn't really matter much there, since enemy units that attack you usually end up dead anyway. But for Fates, it has some striking consequences due to the enemies' ability to utilize the Dual Strike system in the game. I could go on to explain this in detail from a theoretical perspective, but I think an example would be much clearer. Consider the above situation (taken from Chapter 11 Conquest). Bow Knight!Niles is equipped with a bow, and on the enemy phase (once I end my turn) the Lunge!Ninjas will all swarm and attack him from up close. I make a Bookmark save here. When I reload and end my turn, for the first Ninja that attacks, going from left or above is "equivalent" in terms of AI priorities, so the decision is randomized. But depending on which one is chosen, different situations can occur! For example: In the second screenshot (where the first Ninja decided to attack from the left instead of above), the Ninjas end up forming a box around Niles which results in one extra attack on him (due to a DS proc) that didn't occur in the first scenario. This of course causes a shift in the battle RNG, and goes on to have consequences (i.e. different results) in the other parts of the map as well. And these aren't even the only 2 possiblities; I found another one where the Ninjas form an L-shape to block Camilla's path forward too! And remember, these all come from the same bookmark! So yeah, just an interesting tidbit of information that I thought you guys might enjoy. Let me know if it's not clear from the above example why the bolded statement is true and I'll try to explain it from a more pedagogical perspective.

  11. In your opinion, should the next Fire Emblem game be for the 3DS, Wii U, or the NX? We have had two Fire Emblem games for the 3DS and none for the Wii U (apart from the crossover game). So, with the NX coming in 2017, I was wondering what people want the next Fire Emblem game to be for; the 3DS, Wii U, or NX.
  12. Hello there, i just discovered that i had this device lying around. Originally i got one for sharing nice Pokémon with others, and since i've read across the forums that some of you are using these too, i figured there would be no shame in asking for help. These things came with a personal code to activate them online, i believe. About a year ago i had my code changed by Datel, but i didn't keep track of that so i don't even know my code, the only thing i have is the device. And that leaves me with the following questions: • Do i have to buy an entirely new device or can i just purchase another activation code? • Last time i had to deal with them, Datel/CodeJunkies' customer support was downright terrible. Is this still the same? • I've read about codes being region-locked, and only available through purchase or waiting past a certain date. What about this is true, and how are things for Fates as of now? • I have a physical copy of Birthright, with Conquest and Revelation downloaded. Is there any way to edit my CQ and RV files? Thank you for listening. Actually, i just want to make min-maxing and skill acquisition on my finished runs a little bit easier to present my characters as the heroes they are, in case you want to know. Have a nice day, -- Sétanta
  13. What is your favorite critical quote? Please only talk about the Awakening critical quotes considering Fates hasn't come out yet. I'd have to say mine is between "Errr...Rage!" and "Checkmate!"
  14. As Nerf Me to the Moon Wii U ended and 3DS is starting to get to the end of its run, I figured its time for another one of these, and as you know, the next gimmick tourney is in the voting phase http://serenesforest.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=64659 Is there anything you lot would like to see in the next standard tourney? Doubles perhaps? A bigger group of players? Seeing as we are getting alot more people interested in general it seems like. If you'd like to voice future ideas for gimmick tourneys that works too. I'm open to suggestions for changing up the next traditional tourney a little bit, but nothing like not tourney legal, just mild suggestions, if people have a arguments for a stage being legal, this is the time to voice it, also peoples opinions on Halberd would be nice to know, since we've had it be "legal" the past few tourneys. Also 3DS folks, I would like to hear your opinions as well, considering I scrapped up that stage list with the best intentions but was unsure how it'd work out, among other things. This is also a good time to ask me questions about what goes on behind the scenes when I set these tournaments up, if you are curious. Current Champions of Past Tourneys
  15. I've had some trouble at clearing Mission Card #3 completely. The missions I need to do are: 1. Achieve 35K score 2. Clear out 100 coins or more I've already done near 31K on Chimecho stage with M-Gengar, Haunter and Ghastly, so I guess it's just about having luck or something. But I've ran out of ideas for 100 coins. I've done Meowth stage with +5 extra moves but failed. Any ideas to do these and clear Card #3? Fyi I'm by stage 154 so far.
  16. Has anyone successfully messed with the 3d character models yet? I'm trying to do some character model swaps from "Fates->Awakening" and "Awakening->Awakening", where you take a 3d model (ex: Iron Sword) from Fates/Awakening, and I'm trying to put that model in for a different weapon (ex: Bronze Sword) in Awakening. I've noticed an extreme lack of matching file types between the games (Fates: bin.lz, bch.lz, ect./Awakening: m.lz, r.lz, ect.), and I'm wondering if there are any programs that we can use to convert said files into the other type. I've tried just "renaming" the fates one, it crashes as soon as you try to load the model. Is this what I'd use the Nightmare program to do, or is this beyond our reach at this moment?
  17. (Hope this is in the right forum, by the way. Wasn't exactly sure where this should go) It's been awhile since I've even touched my Action Replay for my DS, and I've kinda wanted to go back into hacking. See, grinding in Fates for days on end for Weapons or Stats has me pondering why I'm really doing all this, when with a Powersave, to my understanding, I can easily manage like *snap* that. Plus, it would just be... awesome if I could save myself trouble in Awakening, Fates, Bravely Default, and other games. So. I was wondering if someone, anyone, would be so kind to explain Powersaves, how they work, and the difficulty of it all before I rush out and fork over $30 for one. I barely remember using my Action Replay, by the way, so if whoever could dumb it down for me, that would be appreciated.
  18. My cartridge currently holds the power of Gay Fates Hack, Twin Kanas (male & female Kana), and save editing. Meaning that soon, I'll have a my castle available with every skill unlocked on every character + hair colour changing abilities + class changing abilities + every gem "My castle" resource + much more! I'll be sharing my castle when it's complete so everyone can get access to abilities and / or characters (recruitment) for every revelations character. However, to finish this I'll need to get every character. Including the second generations characters. Here is a list of all the pairings I currently have and / or considering (???) as marriage pairings. I'd like everyone to suggest their favourite fan pairings, with no limitations attached! This meaning everyone can marry anyone, including second generations and "special" characters (i.e Scarlet, Gunter, Flora etc) Current Pairings: * Odette (MU) x Rinkah * Ryoma x Scarlet * Leo x Niles * Odin x Elise * Subaki x Felicia * Azura x Hinoka??? OR * Hinoka x Camilla??? * Kaze x Silas * Keaton x Mozu * Kaden x Setsuna * Saizo x Orochi * Takumi x Selena * Hayato x Sakura * Nyx x Arthur * Laslow x Charlotte??? * Benny x Beruka??? * Hinata x Beruka??? * Azama x Oboro??? Revelation Characters reference: http://serenesforest.net/fire-emblem-fates/revelation/character-recruitment/ + DLC characters, such as; Anna, Ike, Marth, Lucina, and Robin (possibly?) My Castle will feature a daily character and / or skill change daily (if I have the time.) But you'll be able to request from multiple sources to have the characters + skills changed as you'd like them.
  19. So, yesterday Capcom announced that Monster Hunter Generations (known as Monster Hunter X(Cross) in Japan) will be released in the West on July 17, alongside a limited edition 3DS model. PAL regions get a bundle with the game (and a red 3DS): Meanwhile, NA gets a stand-alone blue model: I'm honestly surprised that we're getting it this early. I was expecting September for sure; guess when they said "summer", they really meant summer. Anyways, what are you most looking forward to in Monster Hunter Generations? I'm looking to really get into the Switch Axe- in no small part because the Charge Blade (my 4G/U main) got a massive nerf in both power and versatility. Weapon nerfs are spoiled below. Thread were I got the details from here: www.gamefaqs.com/boards/163462-monster-hunter-x/72998227 EDIT: Forgot gunlance in "nerfs" section.
  20. So anyone else playing this? It's a 3DS eShop game made by Game Freak which involves playing solitary while horse racing. Sounds random, but after trying out the demo (which is surprisingly meaty), I was amazed by how nicely the game played. It also a super cute art style, clever writing and funny jokes. It can get a bit repetitive, but I find the gameplay so addictive that in the end I don't mind. It also has a surprisingly deep level of features, allowing you to level up and take care of your horses and even breed new ones. All of you guys here should do yourselves a favor and at least try out the demo. I thought this was going to be a 2-hour game tops, but now I'm at the 9-hour mark after just one weekend.
  21. http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2015-04-12/bandai-namco-ent-reveals-project-x-zone-2-game/.87060 Here we go! A sequel to Project X Zone! New characters, different paired units of from the first and.. Well much more! Interesting possibilities are in the wind I feel! Special thanks to Breezy for happening to run across this via a Sakura Wars tweet. http://youtu.be/O_ggRnpMMSU
  22. So, I bought a physical copy of both versions of Fire Emblem Fates. I bought the DLC Map Pack 1, and it said that there was no downloadable content on Birthright after I switched from Conquest. How do I register the DLC for Birthright after I purchased the DLC on my Conquest?
  23. So, I bought the Fates edition of the New Nintendo 3DS XL. I was really liking it at first, but when I turned on my 3DS (my older, midnight purple one) I was looking at the two and felt that the graphics on the New XL looked kind of blurry? Plus, I feel that the colors look better on the older model; to me, the colors look brighter, as opposed to the New XL. I guess I'm asking if others feel this way, or if the blurriness/color thing is 'normal'? While I'm at it, I should ask about the issue of game 'transferring"-- since I started playing Fates on the New XL, would there be a problem if I decided to play it on the old 3DS? I have two different Ninendo Network I.D.'s for the systems, because I was planning on keeping both consoles for later things like trading Pokemon from different games. I'm thinking now I should keep just one console... and while I'm at it, anyone here want a FE:Fates Edition of the New 3DS XL? :P
  24. I just grabbed this game tonight and have high expectations, and some thing I forgot was the 'quiz' they make at the beginning of the game to determine who you are. So after submitting some answer, the game tells me I'm indecisive but because I think before I act, that I'm positive, no wonder why I am so successful (thanks!), among other stuff! Only to say I'm just like... So, I wonder if some of you guys have given this game a chance and share what pokemon you are?
  25. Using a NA 3ds copy of FE Fates can I play with someone with a Japanese copy of fates.
