  1. Due to large amounts of peer pressure, I've decided to join in the bandwagon and make a FE8 playthrough as well! But this is no ordinary playthrough...in my epic suicidalness, I have randomized EVERYTHING!!!! Here are my insane settings :3 The chances of me being heavily RNG screwed are incredibly high, but screw it, I'M INSANE! (part 1 coming tomorrow) COMING SOON: INCREDIBLY BROKEN WEAPONS! After a couple fail randomizes (cuz chapters were so cruel on rng that almost no one lived.) I found an ideal one. Here I'll document my depression throughout the game. Because fuck me right? [spoiler=Prologue and Chapter 1] Our self-claimed Lord, Garcia the Hero! Awful Base tho. But we'll see. Dat movement though. Seth/10 That luck is abysmal but it won't bite us in the ass right? Because Garcia only has a lance to use, I do this. WELP Changed it up a slight bit and got a level of skill, true to his title as the Hero. A hero need skill. gitgudscruk Well, damn. This'll be fine.   3. Teq here, with yet another LP. I too feel the need to investigate this hot new randomizer schtick, and I shall do so in the most obnoxious way: by making y'all watch me play it. I'm following Klok's rules in his randomizer thread, with one exception: all growths have a minimum of 5%. This works out to 1.8 levels over 38 level-ups on average, so it's hardly gamebreaking. The rules! I'll be posting growths at the end of the chapter; until then, I don't know them. For the most part I expect my characters to be absolute shit and my life will be a living hell because of this. [spoiler=Prologue] Yeah, let's make things a little more lively, shall we? Well, our lord has swords, which is nice in the earlygame, has halfway decent stats, and a really nice HP pool. I think I could like this one. Only drawbacks are his low movement and strength, and that slim sword isn't helping his damage output. Our Jeigan is...holy crap, 19 speed? Sure, that's 17 speed with iron axes, but this gal is going to double pretty much everything in the earlygame. Great defense and HP; I don't care how bad her growths are, she's getting used. I'm really glad Eirika didn't become a revenant or something; O'Neill would rip her apart with his thunder tome. Fortunately, my guys can handle him. Saleh starts this run off with a bang. Tana nods approvingly in the background. Saleh goes on a forest to gain some evade. Tana runs off, just in case that fighter decides she's a more tempting target. And now I need her. Lovely. She can ORKO, but she'd get OHKO'd if she didn't crit, so I have her heal up as a precaution. She gets the kill, no big deal, no big fuss. End of Prologue [spoiler=Growths (Saleh, Tana)] Saleh: HP: 15 Strength: 70 Skill: 60 Speed: 5 Luck: 5 Defense: 35 Resistance: 55 He has a pretty high HP base, so I'm not terribly concerned about his low hp growth, but the speed is disheartening. He'll just have to whip out lots of crits. Defenses aren't terribly bad, either. Definitely not as bad as Terrador's revenant Eirika. Tana: HP: 20 Strength: 10 Skill: 60 Speed: 40 Luck: 60 Defense: 100 Resistance: 5 Her high speed base and ok growth compensate for the low strength growth. In fact, it's even better, so she function as a chipper and not steal so much xp. Can actually hit things with axes. Great defense and is guaranteed to cap before 20/20, but she'd better avoid mages like the plague. I actually had chapters 1 and 2 written up as well and accidentally backspaced. I'll rewrite them tomorrow.
  4. I would like to insert a custom sound as a 0x85 command for use in custom battle animations. Like instead of C49 to play a sage casting sound, I want to use C53-CFF to play whatever sound I insert. I think I need to find the pointer table for battle animation commands, and point the empty commands to my sounds, but I have no idea how to find pointer tables. I just have no idea how to actually do it.EDIT: I managed to (sort of) get it working. I used Sappy to find some of the sound effects. For my example I used Song 231 in FE8, which is the Brigand's war cry. I used Import Sample to put my WAV file at 0x0EA0000 and put in an instrument map at 0x0E80000: 00C00000 0000EA80 (pointer to WAV file) FF00FF00. Then I made a MIDI with one note and inserted it in place of Song 231, using the instrument map at 0x0E80000. Now when I use C33 in a battle animation it plays my WAV file instead of the Brigand war cry. HOWEVER there is still a problem, because around 50% of the time the sound fails to play. Also even if I get that working, this will only work for a very limited number of sounds. Does anyone have any advice? DOUBLE EDIT: Discovered the SXXXX command which lets you play whatever sound you like, so I'm filling in the blank sounds on the music table. This means I can have a huge number of possible sound effects. You do have to go into the song table and change the 00 00 00 00 of blank songs to 06 00 06 00, otherwise it cuts the music. But the sound still fails to play around half the time, seemingly without reason.   7. All right. I have a bit of a problem to deal with. Basically I imported the animations of a female Hero from FE6 to FE8 and the animations worked fine. Next, I changed the female Mercenary's promotion path into just the female Hero via the Promotion Branch Editor module. And again, it worked fine. However, the issue comes into play when I branched the promotion paths of the female Mercenary; to the standard options of female Ranger and female Hero. When I tried to promote the class, the game stalls at a black screen as it gets to the choosing part.The music continues to play but the game itself freezes. I tested again, but with the male Hero as an option instead of the female one, and it worked. Finally, I tested it with another class with a custom animation and the game freezes once again. I figured out that it was the custom animations that was causing the problem, but I just can't get a solution for it. (The indices of the imported and custom animations are CA and beyond fyi so does it have to do something with it?) I'm a complete n00b when it comes to hex editing but does it have to do something with it? Sorry if this is long-winded but I tried to give as much detail as I could. Do I have to resort to single-path promotions with custom animations or is there a way to have branched promotions with them?

  9. Now since i'm a busy person, I'm not sure how frequent updates for this are going to be. Also no grinding on the World Map, and I may be trying to ditch this lord rule, to see if it would be more interesting.. That is when I get someone wind. The only chapter I can use both lords in is chapter 8. (maybe the desert depending). Thinking of banning lords as of right now when I actually have an army LETS START
  10. Ok, so this hack is basically about Myrrh and Saleh + Ewan, and what they do from Chapter 5 onwards. I mean, there's a HUGE gap concerning them in the game, considering Saleh shows up in Ch5 and then finally reappears in Ch12 ish. I had a cool idea about what happenned between ch5 and ch12. So at the start, Myrrh leaves the village after leaving a note to Saleh explaining her absence. Saleh and Ewan pursue her, hoping to catch up with her. Meanwhile Myrrh reaches another small village in Jehanna, where a few bandits attack her. But then a Peg Knight swoops in and saves her. The peg knight lives in the village Myrrh is going to, and takes her there, where Myrrh meets the peg knight Linde's sisters - an archer, Kaina, and a healer, Immy. The sisters learn of Myrrh's situation, and agree to hekp her. The game switches between Saleh and Myrrh's POV. The two views/parts/whatever merge at the end. How does it sound?
  11. So, I've been playing the game on hard mode alot recently, and comparing all modes together, I came to a notice that the RNG does in fact get 'altered' on HM. Enemies would hit more often than not and criticals are kept to a minimum. Is this true or am I just unlucky? I'm sure someone thought of this before as well.

I've been working on a romhack which involves a reclassing of most classes, Eirika is a mage in this and I changed the rapier into aircalibur (or air cutter, as I named it), but i'm having trouble with the BGM kill and I don't know how to fix it. I've heard about a patch, but I can't find it anywhere. Could someone tell me how to fix it, or hand me the patch?
  13. tl;dr This is an FE8 hack. Final version released 5/22/2021. There are modes with and without fatigue, 100% growths, and 0% growths. First release notes and DL below. READ THE README AND CREDITS!!!!! The Sun God's Wrath(SGW) is the new version of the old sequel to a previous hack I made(Corrupt Theocracy (CT)), The Sun God's Challenge(SGC). This is a FE8 hack that features a variety of new features, most notably skills, some third tiers, new classes, and of course new maps, mugs, characters, events, and music (though because of CT some older versions of characters still use mugs like the ones they used back then for continuity reasons). If by some odd chance you have an old .sav of SGC, this hack won't work with it due to the fact that this hack is pretty much remade. This hack is being designed so that having played CT is in no way a requirement. I don't recommend playing CT and instead recommend reading TheMoniker's awesome LP found here: http://serenesforest.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=50956 if you are really curious about it and would like a potentially heightened experience while playing this hack. History is written by the winners, and there were various winners in CT, so part of the story is learning what really happened in CT anyway since there are conflicting accounts. Like CT, SGW features many protagonist characters with varying degrees of importance, but there will be less/more mixed up game over conditions unlike in CT. The lead protagonist/Donovan of this hack is Astrea, a member of Propater, pictured below. The story will have you follow her and the people she meets as you do your part in trying to save the world. How Astrea manages to be a key figure among the various figures of importance you will come to meet will be made more clear over time.   14. Hello all! It's been quite a while! I'm glad to be back. I'd been working on something for quite some time, and then had a major set back. My old dinosaur computer finally crashed, and then almost caught fire, so naturally I lost all my work, every sprite I'd ever made, and years of writing work. So, naturally, this discouraged Fire Emblem hacking for quite some time for me. However, thanks to my lovely boyfriend, I managed to get all that work back. By the time I got it, though, I'd already grown pretty disinterested in my original ideas for a hack, but I still had a lot of stuff piled up, so I figured I might as well put it to good use. So, I'm making a new hack, Fire Emblem ~ Maiden of Darkness! Yes, that is the FE6 Beta name. No, this hack will not have anything to do with FE6. I'm not remaking FE6 because I'm not talented enough. Though, I promise, the title will be relevant to the plot, which is heavily lightly inspired by Tactics Ogre: The Knight of Lodis, Diablo 3, and a few other games I've played in the past few months. The Story will take place in the country of Advhen, a highly religious island country, whose church and military are heavily interwoven, and ruled by the aging and devout King Gabrian, and his Holy Knights, each of whom governs a major city of Advhen. Due to the King's negligence, and the cruel, and dogmatic laws of the Holy Knights, a peasant uprising has begun, throwing Adhen into turmoil. The first few chapters will detail the Prince of Advhen's escape from one of the major cities, while it is being attacked by the rebels, while he seeks refuge with one of the Holy Knights, and then leads his own counter-attack on the rebellion. As he ventures on, certain truths that were hidden from him became clear, such as the Holy Knights hidden motives, and the true nature of the rebellion. A side plot (Chapter 5x) will focus on a young female commander in the rebellion, and her assault on an Advhen controlled fortress, sneaking in during the night in an attempt to get the drop on their forces. Debates will be had on the morality of some war crimes, such as taking hostages, betrayal, and killing civilians and gentry who are trying to keep out of the civil war. And that's all of the plot I'm going to put here! But I will also put my notes on some of my ideas, and the changes I'll be making from the vanilla Sacred Stones, below. A word of caution, I make my concept notes in all caps, with lots of curse words. It makes it more exciting, and keeps me on track. Character Replacements General Class Changes Item Changes Screen Shots ...Now, be aware, I've little experience with map creation/insertion, and even less with event hacking. And though there's been some advances on it recently, there's still not a whole lot in the way of FE8 hacking documentation, so this isn't going to be something super awesome and amazing. My talents mainly lie in writing, with a minor talent in spiriting, so that's what I'll be focusing on. However, if anyone would like to contribute anything (maps, hacking help, characters, sprites, etc), please just let me know! I'm unlikely to turn down any help, especially with maps or event hacking. However, I'm at least a moderately skilled spriter, and so I will be a bit picky when it comes to any character mugs from others I'm going to put in here. I'm not expecting anything super fancy (I'm actually not expecting anything at all), just so long as it looks clean, and has a nice palette. That's all for the moment. I'm not on my desktop, so I don't have any images to add to this at the moment, but I'll throw them on here as they're brought into existence. Any thoughts, ideas, or criticisms are appreciated!   15. I've been working on this poorly made mini-hack for a good 2 months now (mainly because my charger died in Feburary). I hope you'll enjoy it.   19. I got it in my head a long time ago that I wanted to make a board game based on FE8. I loved the game, and thought that it would be fun to be able to sit down with friends and play it together. Either in like a quick skirmish, or full campaign. Since I don't plan on selling this idea, I'm going my own way with this idea, so it's not going to have a Fire Emblem story, because I've added a typical Fantasy Element, where when building a character, not only do you select your class, but you select a Race too, Dwarf, Elf, or Human. And I also made a new class (technically three, since there's a non-promoted and two options when you do promote) The Hunter, an archer that has slightly lower stats then the typical archer, but has the ability to tame and bond with an animal that will fight alongside you. Which means I also added a set of Animal classes, with their own weapon triangle. The Wolf, the Bear, and the Tiger. The Animal Triangle: Wolf > Bear > Tiger > Wolf The Wolf is like the Sword, the Bear like the Axe, and the Tiger like the Lance. The different classes that these base units could become are Woodsman Hunter{ Beast Master Dire Wolf Wolf{ Hell Hound Cave Bear Bear{ Great Bear Demon Cat Tiger{ White Tiger I misplaced my notes on exactly what the different animal promoted classes did, but I know that the Woodsman can wield a Sword and the Beast Master can wield an Axe. And when you chose a race besides human, certain classes fit certain races better, for instance, Elves have a racial bonus for pretty much all magic users or light fighters such as Myrmidons or Thieves. But Dwarves are more proficient in heavier classes like Knight or Warrior, and those units would gain a Racial bonus, which improves that units growth rate (max percentage is 90%). And if you had an Elven Knight or a Dwarven Cavalier, then you'd have a Racial penalty, and that characters growth rate would decrease. I've got five different factions. Three mono-raced factions, and two joined factions. A Human Empire, an Elven Council, Dwarven Kingdom, a band of Native Tribes, and finally the Allied Kingdom. I believe I have come up with good names for the different Factions now. Human Empire: The Gaulder Empire Elven Council: The Etherian Council Dwarven Kingdom: The Kraathon Kingdom Tribal Nation: The Iron-Wolf Tribes Allied Kingdom: The Narielian Kingdom, or The Kingdom of Narielia And after spending some time on the forums and chatroom here, I thought that maybe you guys might have some ideas to help me with this idea. I do know I'm going to want to write a story to go along with this. But for now I'm trying to focus on getting the details of the game figured out. Any opinions or advice you guys have for this would be appreciated =)
  20. Hello everyone! As the thread title would lead you to believe, I'm curious as to what everyone's favorite complete rom hacks are. I only just discovered rom hacks recently and absolutely love them. The one problem I've had is finding downloads for the complete versions of the ones I don't already possess (The Last Promise, Sacred Contention, Matthew's Nightmare). I've been to the FEShrine, but the links in their directory usually lead to threads with the unfinished files. So, in addition to telling me what your favorite romhack is, if you could also link a download of the completed version I would really appreciate it. Thanks in advance for sharing opinions and suggestions on this matter.
  21. Hello all! I've decided to do a run of FE8 Sacred Stones! I'm going to be using units that start of foot but then wrangle in some horses! Eirika and Ephraim also apply :). I'm probably going to skip over the plot because I'm lazy and not clever and you guys have seen it a million times anyways. Here are the units used and promotion they will go to get them horses (In case you couldn't figure it out): Eirika -> Great Lord Ephraim -> Great Lord Gilliam -> Great Knight Neimi -> Ranger Lute -> Mage Knight Natasha -> Valkyrie Amelia -> Cavalier to Paladin Gerik -> Ranger Ewan -> Mage -> Mage Knight I think that is everybody. I will be using save states cause I'm lame and lazy :p. No LTC or whatever. I'll probably recruit everyone because I'm OCD about that and can't bring myself to kill them. Oh and I will use theives for utilities. Should be fun hopefully for all :) hopefully i finish this run lol
  22. Hey I was just wondering if anyone here have a working patch for this very elusive hack called Fire Emblem Girls it is an FE8 hack? yeah FE8. I have been having problems finding it and I mean a lot! every link I check brings me to a page that says not found. Now if finding a working patch is not possible is it possible to fix mine? I have one already but there is something wrong with mine each time I get on the prologue chapter it never progresses past that point it just gets stuck after fighting the 3 bandits I believe an event o sorts is supposed to happen there where you get a key or something to open the door there or the enemy passes through. Another problem I have at times while trying mine is it just outright freezes for no reason. Thanks in advance I guess I will check back again later.

I was wondering if anyone would be nice enough to explain how to do this step by step since I really have no idea what to do with this but at the same time, I feel it'd be fun to play with.
  24. Since I just recently heard the remastered music tracks that ZM posted about just a few hours ago, I feel inspired to do another playthrough of FE8 Difficult Ironman. Just in case you don't know what an Ironman run is, it is essentially a run where I don't do any rage resets when something unfortunate happens, and I just take the event as is and live with it. As such, this type of run tends to be really cautious and calculated, and risks are something that you won't want to do even more so. I will be doing this as a Video LP using the remastered music tracks found in the thread I linked above. I think this will be an interesting LP with the new music tracks edited in ^^ Also, I will mainly be skipping most of the story, since I've experienced the story many times already, and just wish to play the game. After listening to the whole remastered soundtrack, I plan to include story in the LP as well, at least for the most part. I will be doing minimum Voice Commentary during the story, so I'm just letting you all know this now. I'll update when I finally get the first video up; I plan to start recording today, and i'll try to keep the videos to 15 mins each at least, although, i know that many chapters can take more than this amount of time to do, so we'll see how it goes. Also, I will be doing each video on a chapter by chapter basis, to make editing that much easier to do. - Added 7/11/2014 Due to the amount of time that it takes make sure that the battle map music and the battle music switch properly, I wish to do with the map themes as I said I would do with the battle themes. So the generic player/enemy battle attack music will probably not be used after the prologue, just to make the editing and video upload flow more smoothly. I will still be keeping animations on, but the map themes will be playing instead of the battle music unless it is a battle where the generic battle music isn't played.   25. By default, only 9 kinds of weapon range is recognized(1-1, 1-2, 1-3, 2-2, 2-3, 3-3, 3-10, 3-15, MP/2). While it's possible to use the other range, the range name and tiles won't show properly. This patch will fix them. I don't know why the developer team is using longer, yet less effective code. This patch was created using Lunar ips. Using this patch together with another range modifying patch (i.e. Blazer's 2-3 range sniper patch) is not recommended. For FE7, you can download the patch here.
