  2. Welcome! For the past eight months, a close friend and I have created and fleshed a complete retelling of the Revelation route for Fire Emblem Fates. We loved the game and everything it provided, however certain aspects of the game seemed to fall short, especially when it came to the history of Hoshido and Nohr as well as the overall pacing for the main game. We wish to open our project to all Fire Emblem fan's and their original characters, and see if we can widen the depth of our story with the help of new faces and minds. We are looking for both OC's and Cannon Currently We Are Closed, Thank You Please Fill Out the Character Sheet Below Name: Gender: Allegiance: (Hoshidan, Nohrian, Vallite) Job:(knight, maid, prince ect.) 5. I have been wondering does anyone know why Lilith doesn't have any battle animation?
  6. Howdy everyone, so I'm playing Revelations and now I've gotten to know like all of the characters because of Conquest and Birthright. But there is one little problem... I STILL HAVE NO IDEA WHO I SHOULD PAIR UP!?!? In Awakening it was so much easier, I knew exactly who would be good with who, and I personally think my Awakening match ups were dead on (humblebrag). But with Fates, I just have no idea. Very few people are married in my game so I am turning the tables to you fellow Fire Emblem fans! Please, sell me your Fire Emblem Fates ships that can be achieved in Revelations. I don't really care about what kids can get what skill from whatever parent or anything technical like that. I'm all about personality and story! So please, help a guy out and sell me on your personal preferred pairings. With some excepts. These are the pairings that I already have... MaleCorrin x Niles Felicia x Inigo Owain x Severa Kagero x Saizo That's all I got. Their "Fates" are in your hands.
  7. Hey everyone, I started translating my copy of the Hoshido comic anthology and I thought I would share it here if anyone is interested. The quality is pretty bad because I've just been taking pictures from my phone, so I hope you can overlook that! Please let me know if you find any of my translations confusing! I'm happy to receive feedback. I will update this post as I post new chapters. Chapter 1: http://imgur.com/a/UyIM8 Chapter 2: http://imgur.com/a/oFIzV Chapter 3: http://imgur.com/a/quIwU Chapter 4: http://imgur.com/a/jP6F3 NEW! Chapter 5: http://imgur.com/a/j3ovY Chapter 6: http://imgur.com/a/XwDTr Scans are curtesy of SniperGYS! I am also going to begin translating the Nohr/Conquest anthology with the help of maskedmarth's scans, so I will hopefully be posting some of those soon. Also, if you can, please support the authors by buying the book :) (also, can anyone tell me how to tag a username? I'm new to this forum stuff, sorry. Thanks)
  8. If your not a fan of long posts and stories scroll down to the Hey Listen! Thing to get a sense of what I mean when I say Re-vamp. It might be confusing at first but the story cleans up some of that. I dive into this a bit deeper on the authors notes on the doc, if you want to hear more of my rambling check it out. Hello there! So I've decided to embark on a little fun project that I wanted to do. As you may see the title what do you mean revamp? First let me say that I was not happy with the story nor its characters as there was no lore or background information to be given besides the small tid bits here and there. Nothing sufficient enough, I felt that the characters were husks and much more could have been done with that. As such when i "betrayed people" or I "killed off" someone, I never really felt anything for. It was just a feeling of not me caring at all about any of these characters. Especially when some of the chars die, you might know whom I talking about. What made me say "hey, that's not cool man" and feel bad for them? As such I think lore and background information is key! As well as battle and base conversations to slowly unravel even more about the characters instead of Effie stuffing her face or Keaton trying to find a bone hole. So, this is what the project I made intends to do. You'll see that some characters have new and enhanced backgrounds in their relationship to Corrin, and the world. But feel similar to the player in terms of speech and mannerisms.Locations and chapters from the game might be changed somewhat and situations happening at other places. Some of the main story plots will be changed some as well, but made so it can be more concrete with an actual resolvable reason. But it will be a new feeling and a new look at how awesome this game could have been! For starters I can say that all characters will have a much more concrete background and have reasons for what they do, and yes! That includes Lilith remember her? the two lines in the game dragon right? I feel that characters needed a bump in order to make the game boom in my opinion. Things that make us the player have second thoughts about what we're about to do. They should have their own dreams and resolve and reasons for doing what they do. I want Azura to play more of a key role as she just tends to be on the sidelines, i want her to have more impact. Same goes for Corrin's siblings and those around him! I have plans for Shura and other people whom didn't get spotlight but actually were pretty relevant to the story. As such when you make the ultimate choice, the characters on the other side should change drastically and show that anger that you've betrayed them! As such I plan to do battle conversations and boss conversations! I haven't done them quite yet as I'm finishing up the pre birthright chapters. I have written the background of the main characters and some of the support chars, sorry if your's isn't up yet I'm trying to find a balance of keeping them similar but relevant to the story. I say this because well, you see.. Arthur... As for the game as a whole, I don't think the themes were substantially presented. When you think of conquest you think of conquering.. weird right? As such Corrin should be more seen as a dark figure who has lost his way going against his family. Essentially he is killing his own people so he should reflect that over time. As such i've planned for the dragon form to come into much bigger play in my re-vamp but that discussion is for another day. If we take a look at birthright, we can see that they lived a pretty bright sky in their home. As such I thought of themes to reflect this and i came up with a Blinded by light sort of thing. IN which Corrin thinks the world is so bright like the home he grew up in and thinks he can apply that to everyone. As such I want Corrin int he birthright route to be more of a controlled person and as such maybe controlling his dragon powers a little cleaner unlike compared to conquest Corrin whom might have a little anger due to other things in the story. So to stop your suffering here Is the link, its essentially a hub for all the work. Please NOTE that my story will be something like this in terms of order. 4 PRE-birthright story chapters(not finished) > pre-5 Conquest story chapters(Finished) > 1-2 lined chapters(Mikito's chapters)> CHOICE and then they stem off into separate games. so the choice will be around chapter 11. Its 13k words, for pre-conquest as they are the ones I finished and there is a prologue for pre-birthright as well. https://docs.google.com/document/d/1t31AWtOyM28YnKb3IAFi9E4rgI_PhHUaukfhxdpquPM/edit Hey Listen! :What If i don't want to read all this junk? Well, okay maybe it might be long but I feel its important to create lore and feeling with these characters. If it will interest you into reading it try reading the biographies first! They are basically small biography pages for characters and their beginnings on respective sides and will add more as the story goes on. You can find them here or continue onto the docs page. Sorry if your characters aren't here yet!! They'll be probably soon enough. Conquest:https://drive.google.com/folderview?id=0BxL4sS-E7exGb3hIdGJjX0Z6NDA&usp=sharing Birthright:https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/0BxL4sS-E7exGUDNDbEc5VnI1WHc DISCLAIMER: I am not focusing on a game play perspective as of yet, but I have included some battles just so I could get sense of break and such. Please ignore them okay!? It isn't like i'm trying to sell a new game here. Grammar o Grammar oh my. There might be a few mistakes here and there so please bear with me. Also google docs tends to auto correct my Out's to Our's for whatever reason, so if you stumble upon them my apologies. I might change lines every now and then so if you spot me on a page yeah that's what i'm probably doing so some smaller things are subject to change. If you have any questions or just want to talk to me about stuff lemme know!
  9. It's taken me a while (I procrastinated for several months on Chapter 25), but I finally finished my all-Wyverns run of Conquest. Though the battle was bloody, the Wyvern Brigade made it through the Endgame to stop the evils of Twincest Takumi and his bow domination, thus striking down Fates' title as 'Bow Emblem'! The endgame was an unmitigated disaster since I made a dumb move and half my wyverns ended up getting shot outta the sky by Takumi and the bow knights that spawned (not a huge surprise really, though it could have gone better if I didn't muck it up), BUT-- we did it. I actually want to try recording a playthrough of the endgame for this thread; all I have is my crappy webcam but I'll see what I can do. Might make some last-second changes to the squad, like swapping Camilla's class, but we'll see. Time for a little unit breakdown: Other interesting (?) tidbits: - I think a few people have mentioned this in the other thread, but if I had decided to give MU the Wyvern talent off the bat (instead of Oni Savage like I chose, since I decided to do the wyvern run after starting), I could have married her to another eligible non-wyvern bachelor to get both him and his kid in on the Wyvern action, IE Leo, Odin, Keaton, etc. Just changing MU's talent to wyvern and spouse to Keaton with no other changes, that's 2 more wyverns than I got in my run for a total possible of 19. That's nuts (and definitely overkill), but interesting to note. - ended up with 2 extra Arms Scrolls that no one really needed by the end; probably wasn't the best use of them, but I decided to use them on Leo and Forrest since they were the magic-based MKs with the most strength so they could use Hammers and Pike-Ruin Clubs and such. If I'd decided to get Velouria in on this action via marriage/inheritance, they could be used on her after recruiting her post-level 15 Offspring Seal so she can go straight to Wyvern with her amazing Wolfssegner skills. Live’n’learn, as they say. - I did My Castle battles a LOT while procrastinating on Chapter 25 and accrued tons of random-only weapons for forging. The most of anything I got was 11 Odin's Grimoires-- holy $#!7. By contrast, never found a single Iago’s Tome outside of the one from the battle rewards. Final Notes! It took a lot of planning, and yeah there were some missteps along the way, but I think I proved that this can be done. If anything, Wyverns might be one of the best unit types for a class-specialized run like this, given their access to all three corners of the Weapon Triangle and their crazy mobility. Had a lot of fun doing this, and hope to see other people try some crazy stuff too!
  10. Mild spoilers for FE13 and FE14 ahead Hi all! So I have had a Revelations file planned for a while now, in which I pair couples based on the colours the mother will pass down to her child to get the closest to the official sprites as I can. Official sprites (as used on Twitter) compiled here This poses some immediate challenges. Some children could use the same mother for the closest hairstyle. My choice? The characters with the most hair or the most plot significance (i.e. Heirs of Fates or Awakening references) will get precedence over non-plot relevant children. For example, this would imply that Soleil wins Felicia's hair colour over Miitama as Soleil's hair references Olivia. There are some highly sought after hair colours (i.e. blonde) that we just don't have enough units for or colours that are rare/inaccessible. So I will be using a female Avatar to wed one lucky guy - though I'm undecided on who. This is where you come in! Below is a list of chosen pairings that create near-canon hair colours for the children. Midori - Kaze x Setsuna (closest to green) Asugi - Saizo x Sakura (commonly paired for near-orange hair) Caeldori - Subaki x Selena (implied as Caeldori's 'canon' mother) Siegbert - Xander x Charlotte (Siegbert is an Heir of Fate. Charlotte provides a near ideal blonde.) Soleil - Laslow x Felicia (Priority over Miitama as reference to Awakening) Ophelia - Odin x Elise (provides same shade of hair as Odin) Shiro - Ryoma x Mozu (Mozu's hair is darker and thus closer to Shiro's canon shade than her other contender, Kagero) Rhajat - Hayato x Nyx (Black hair that references Tharja in Awakening) Miitama - Azama x Rinkah (White is closest to her sherbet pink) Kiragi - Takumi x Hana (Closest to Takumi's hair colour) Hisame - Hinata x Kagerou (slightly lighter brown is closest to Hisame after Hana) Dwyer - Jakob x Effie (Silver hair is close to Dwyer's grey) Unsure: Sophie - Silas x Beruka? Selkie - Kaden x Hinoka? Percy - Arthur x ??? Nina - Niles x Azura? Forrest - Leo x ??? Ignatius - Benny x ??? Velouria - Keaton x ??? Please post your feedback and suggestions below! All suggestions for couples will be considered, even the "established" ones! Let's canonize!
  11. Okay so something I decided to try early into my second Conquest run is to finish my endgame with all Wyvern units, or as many Wyverns as I can manage with support units filling in the leftover spots. I expect it will be something of a challenge, but between Malig Knights and Wyvern Lords I can have all three segments of the weapon triangle, so I'm gonna try to make this happen. I've never done a crazy run with such specifics like this before, so advice and suggestions would be hugely appreciated. Conditions: - All units who can class change into a Wyvern unit must end the game as a Wyvern unit (unless they're dropped and go unused) - Must go into the Chapter27 + Endgame with as many Wyvern units as possible. - Staff/Rally support units are allowed up until the final 2 chapters, or if there aren't enough wyvern units to deploy in the final 2 - No gold/exp DLC - No Dreadfighter/Darkflier access - 1 Hero's Brand, 1 Exalt's Brand, & 1 Witch's Mark available Current Status: **COMPLETE!** - Though the battle was bloody, the Wyvern Brigade made it through the Endgame to stop the evils of Twincest Takumi and his bow domination, thus striking down Fates' title as 'Bow Emblem'! > At some point I'd like to attempt to record a playthough of the endgame (even though all I have is my computer's webcam, OTL...) - Final Endgame lineup listed above; all Wyvern units used along with Azura - Attained all gold statues for units being used, including the support squad - Wound up adding Forrest to the Wyvern Brigade near the end of the game; he was probably my weakest unit, but he was usable! - Profiteer Midori with Anna's Bow + Luck Potions from Azura's Witch's Brew made farming for gold on the Awakening DLC pretty easy - used both boots on MU (squandered one on Azura, who got Warp) - Purely for kicks... All forged weapons get dragon-themed naming conventions, and all Wyvern units got decked out with uniform accessories depending on their character model - wound up ultimately not needing the last 2 Arms Scrolls out of the 5 used (one was given to Kana, one to Camilla, and I forget the third); proving that planning stuff out ahead of time so you can switch classes / train weapon ranks early helps a lot toward that Final Notes It took a lot of planning, and yeah there were some missteps along the way, but I think I proved that this can be done. If anything, Wyverns might be one of the best unit types for a class-specialized run like this, given their access to all three colors of the Weapon Triangle and their crazy mobility. Bows wound up being less of a problem than I thought they'd be between the magically-strong Malig Knights and all the units with relatively-easy access to Bowbreaker. Had a lot of fun doing this, and hope other people try some crazy stuff like this in the future for kicks! [spoiler=Detailed Unit Breakdown] Nubrya (Skil+/Luck- feMU) - reclassing path: Oni Savage (talent) > Lv20: Oni Chief > Lv11: Great Lord > Lv15: Malig Knight (end) - Skills: Dragon Fang, Aether, Death Blow, Awakening, Savage Blow - Weapons: [A] Axes / [C] Tomes; primarily Great Club, Odin's Grimoire, Steel Axe and Bolt Axe - married Ignatius Final Verdict: Wound up using MU mainly with crit-based weapons like the Great Club (which consistently got 100% crit rates owing to Death Blow and her high Skill) and forged Odin's Grimoires. Unfortunately this meant she didn't do as well against tougher enemies without a fair bit of backup, and Aether didn't proc as often as I'd have liked even with Awakening helping it on its way (It's worth mentioning I also used Berserker Axes with her to kill stuff early and get to the point where Awakening would work...) So a bit gimmicky overall, but she did the job in the end. Elise: Troubadour > Lv20: Strategist > Lv15: Malig Knight - Skills: Savage Blow, Trample, Inspiration, Lunge, Demoiselle - Weapons: Tomes / [E] Axes; mainly forged Thunder/Fimbulvetr/Disrobing Gale - married Odin Final Verdict: Though I opted not to reclass her early and wound up wasting her weapon levels on staves, she still wound up maxing out her Tome level and being a pretty strong unit. Basically played her like you expect a promoted Elise to play but minus staves and plus flight/MK skills. Being able to use the Bolt Axe might have been nice, but Calamity Gate sufficed in its place and she was good all around. Camilla: Malig Knight > Lv5-11: Sorcerer > Lv15: Wyvern Lord / Malig Knight - Skills: Savage Blow, Trample, Vengeance, Bowbreaker, Axefaire / Swordbreaker - Weapons: [A] Axes / Tomes; Silver Axe/forged Camilla's Axe, Brave Axe, Tomahawk, Bolt Axe, Dual Club - married Benny Final Verdict: Opted to keep her as a MK despite her mehh magic due to the Tome levels she was getting as a Sorc and you know, she did all right. By the endgame I'd given her an Arms Scroll to max weapon levels and bought her Axefaire from someone else's castle (could be considered cheating, but ehh) and she was using primarily axes as a result, and she did fairly well. May have done better as a Wyvern Lord, but ehh. Could farm some gold, buy her a Seal, and try another endgame run like that. Beruka: Wyvern Rider > Lv20: Malig Knight > Lv5-15: Wyvern Lord - Skills: Lunge, Str+2, Savage Blow (never got Trample and Swordbreaker) - A+ Camilla for Sorc, marries Leo to give him wyverns Final Verdict: Wound up ditching her by the endgame in favor of Benny (who essentially usurped her role) and the kids. Could have been usable, but I don't think I was getting the growths she needed. Selena: Merc > Sky Knight > Lv20: Falcoknight > Lv15: Wyvern Lord - Skills: Darting Blow, Spd+2, Camaraderie, Good Fortune, Lunge - A+ with Camilla/Beruka for Wyvern, marries whoever Final Verdict: Used one of the first 2 limited Heart Seals on her with the intent of training her in Lances; she worked very well as a Pegasus for a while, but by the time of the opera house chapter she wasn't packing enough of a punch to keep using. In retrospect, her Heart Seal would probably have been better spent on Elise. Charlotte: Fighter > Lv20: Hero > Lv5: Berserker > Lv15: Wyvern Lord - Skills: Swordbreaker, Axefaire, Sol, Rally Str, Rally Def - Weapons: [A] Axes; Adamant Club to make her more durable, Dual Club for swords, Tomahawk/Battering Club for range, occasionally Berserker Axe to make full use of her power - marries Xander / buddies with Beruka for Wyvern tree Final Verdict: Her high Str and Spd actually let her function pretty well as a wyvern. Adamant Club was probably her most useful weapon since her high strength compensates for its low might and actually lets her take a hit. By endgame she was too frail to take a hit from anything during the enemy phase, but could ORKO most anything, and made a good rallybot and pair-up partner for Xander. Benny: Knight > Lv20: General > Lv: 5: Great Knight > Lv15: Wyvern Lord - Skills: Natural Cover, Wary Fighter, Luna, Guarded Blow, Lunge - Weapons: Lances / [C] Axes; anything with a speed penalty, but esp Ryoma's Club / Beruka's Axe and Effie's Lance - marries Camilla for wyverns Final Verdict: Benny actually surprised me with how well he performed; basically wound up being Charlotte's polar opposite-- could tank enemy rounds all day and night, perhaps not kill anyone, but soften them up plenty for the rest of the Wyvern Brigade to clean up. Attempted to take advantage of Wary Fighter by abusing crits and Luna, which was pretty easy thanks to his high Skill. Leo: Dark Knight > Lv5-10: Sorcerer > Lv15: Malig Knight - Skills: Malefic Aura, Bowbreaker, Savage Blow, Vengeance, Trample - Weapons: Tomes; Brynhildr obvs, though forged Lightning helped him kill things a lot - marries Beruka for wyverns Final Verdict: About as solid as he usually is. Part of the Bowbreaker squad dedicated to stopping the dominion of the Bow Emblem. Xander: Paladin > Lv15: Hero > Lv19: Wyvern Lord - Skills: Aegis, Sol, Axebreaker, Lunge, Shelter - Weapons: Lances / [D] Axes; Effie's Lance / Bold Naginata, Spear - marries Charlotte for reasons, you all know them Final Verdict: Trained his weapon ranks hard (resisting temptation to use Siegfried as often as possible) and it paid off pretty good; he wound up not needing any Arms Scrolls. More or less functioned the same as Benny; had a hard time killing stuff since he was too slow to double, but tanks for days. Effie ! Percy: Wyvern Rider > Malig Knight > Lv 15: Wyvern Lord - Final Skills: Lunge, Savage Blow, Trample, Swordbreaker, Str+2 - Weapons: [A] Axes / [D] Lances; Venge Club for tanking, Fuga's Club for doubling, Iron/Arthur's Axe early on - marries Ophelia Final Verdict: The only Wyvern Brigade member not to share royal blood by birth or marriage, Percy ends pretty modest in terms of skiils but performed well throughout the game. Kept his class changing simple to conserve Seals, but he still did well. Elise ! Ophelia : Dark Mage > Sorcerer > Lv15: Malig Knight - Final Skills: Vantage, Bowbreaker, Vengeance, Malefic Aura, Trample - Weapons: Tomes; Missiletain, Mjolnir for crits, Ink Painting for tanking / Vantage abuse - marries Percy for his wyvern Final Verdict: Probably the best magic-specialized MK of the lot; more durable than Elise and has Vantage, faster than Leo and packs high crit rate; she basically never died. It's Ophelia, what more can you say? Azura ! Dwyer: Troubadour > Pegasus Knight > Falco Knight > Lv5: Wyvern Lord - Final Skills: Darting Blow, Str+2, Lunge, Swordbreaker, Tomebreaker - Weapons: Lances / [D] Axes; mainly simple stuff like Steel/Iron, but also used Arthur's Axe/Guard Naginata to bolster his weak defenses - buddies Percy for Wyverns Final Verdict: Grabbed him early and put him in Pegasus right away to start training lances, which paid off big time. Performed well throughout the game; his only real issue was that he's a bit more frail than most of the other WLs, but Darting Blow and his surprisingly high strength let him double and ORKO quite a lot. His double breaker action didn't hurt either. Jakob ! Shigure: Skyknight (offspring) > Lv5+: Falcoknight > Lv15: Wyvern Lord - Final Skills: Tomebreaker, Voice of Peace, Darting Blow, Rally Speed, Rally Defense - Weapons: Lances / [D] Axes; Silver Lance / Killer Lance mainly - has natural Wyverns by virtue of Jakob being his dad (don't ask me how that works) Final Verdict: Decent, but offensively the weakest WL, probably on the lower end of all the units overall. Performed well as a rallybot, and was still able to beat foes either through Silver Lance's high might or his decent crit rate with Killer Lance. Charlotte ! Siegbert: Cavalier (offspring) > Lv5+: Great Knight > Lv15: Wyvern Lord - Final Skills: Aegis, Sol, Luna, Guarded Blow, Lunge - Weapons: Lances / [C] Axes; mostly iron/steel but was the Killer Axe recipient and used it well Final Verdict: Definitely a strong unit, really balanced and well-performing overall. Possibly the best Wyvern Lord overall. Camilla ! Ignatius: Knight (offspring) > Lv5+: General > Lv6+: Great Knight > Lv7+: Hero > Lv10-15: Wyvern Lord - Final Skills: Guarded Blow, Bowbreaker, Lunge, Luna, Sol - Weapons: Lances / [C] Axes; mostly iron/steel, occasionally stuff like Ryoma's Club - married MU Final Verdict: Not bad, but not great; like a more balanced Benny or a worse Siegbert distinguished by having Bowbreaker. Actually wound up too fast to make good use of Wary Fighter, I think; Beruka might actually have been a better mom for him in that regard. Still did pretty well. Beruka ! Forrest : Troubador (offspring) > Strategist > Lv15: Malig Knight - Final Skills: Inspiration, Lunge, Savage Blow, Trample, Rally Res - Weapons: Tomes; Fenrir / forged Lightnings to compensate for his poor speed Final Verdict: Not terrible, but likely the worst wyvern of the bunch. His genetics did him no favors, sadly, but he was a functional Malig Knight and brought another Rally Res. That's all I can really say. Camilla ! Ignatius ! Kana: Nohr Prince (offspring) > Lv5+: Nohr Noble > Lodestar > Lv?-15: Malig Knight - Final Skills: Death Blow, Bowbreaker, Dragon Fang, Savage Blow, Speedtaker - Weapons: Magic / [C] Axes; Ragnarok/Bolt Axe for primary damage, Fenrir / Great Club for crit abuse Final Verdict: Probably better than MU, actually. His speed capped low, as expected with Camilla!Ignatius as his dad, but Speedtaker helped with that and he was about as good at crit-abusing as MU was, but could kill easier otherwise. His only real problem was lack of any healing skills, which I'd definitely get him next time. Azura: Songstress > Witch > Songstress - Skills: Luck+4, Inspiring Song, Voice of Peace, Witch's Brew, Warp - Weapons: Bolt Naginata (only lance-user with enough magic to use it), Blessed Lance (mainly because it's in her portrait TBH) Final Verdict: Warp + Sing. Boom. Wasted Shura's Boots on her, sadly... Witch's Brew also ended up making me a fair chunk of change by the end since I rarely ended up using her tonics. Nyx ! Nina : Thief (offspring) > Adventurer > Strategist - married Dwyer for the Troubador tree and ended as a Strategist for the sake of movement. Final Verdict: Shared the staffbot job with Forrest for a while, then shouldered that job along with Lockpicking once he went wyvern. She was able to handle both jobs pretty well on her own, and that's all she was really around for. Mozu ! Midori: Apothecary (offspring) > Merchant - The Wyvern Brigade all capped early, so I took the remaining paralogues to train up Midori's bow level so she can use Anna's Bow for the +5 Luck. She also had Lockpick from Kaze, which helped in levels where I had enough unit picks to bring her. Final Verdict: Does her job: makin' sick bank. [spoiler=Budget Calculation] - Total Budget: 120,000g (not including Paralogues and Lilith gold bars) - approximated Master Seals needed: 9+ x 2,000 apiece - approximated other Seals needed: ~20 Heart/Friendship/Partner - Available Arms Scrolls: 3 free + 2 for 5,000 apiece [spoiler=Pairings] - Odin x Elise - Arthur x Effie - Niles x Nyx - Kaze x Mozu - Azura x Jakob - Selena x Silas - Beruka x Leo - Camilla x Benny - Xander x Charlotte - Laslow x Peri - Keaton x Felicia - MU x Ignatius - Percy x Ophelia - Shigure x Midori - Dwyer x Nina - Kana, Forrest, and Siegbert go unmarried; could use My Castle to pair them off with the 3 unmatched ladies, but ehhh no point really
  12. Hey Guys, I was just wondering if anybody knew where to find the music that played in the Invisible History DLC?
  13. Are you disgusted by the number of Midoris you see while playing online? Does the incessant grind to perfect your teams get tiring and ever quell your desire to play? Does seeing the same team formats over and over drive you to the brink of insanity? --- What if there was a Fire Emblem community eager to improve the PvP aspect of Fire Emblem Fates that also welcomed casual play, competitive play and diversity in team building? What if you could actually win prizes for playing? What if this was a place that catered to players from North America AND Europe? Does such a place even exist? It does! Introducing: Fire Emblem Fates: Tournaments! Hey everyone! I’m Delta, a moderator over at Fire Emblem Fates Tournaments: a community where we strive make the online battling aspect of Fates as fun and as fair as possible! Unfortunately, as Standard Fates PvP is so unbalanced, we try to make it more appealing to play by limiting some common and overly powerful sets, along with engaging our users through hosting standard tournaments, running gimmicky/theme based tournaments, and having some real prizes up for grabs! At Fire Emblem Fates: Tournaments, we strive to make PvP appealing to players of all types and keep the community engaged. We are a mix of casual and competitive players with differing levels of experience and skill in Fire Emblem. In one way or another, we help each other out -- and are completely willing to! And aside from Fire Emblem, we have different interests as well: Fanart, Smash, other video games, music, you name it! We try not to only limit ourselves to Fire Emblem just because of who we are as a subreddit -- we play other games on the side as a community as well, so feel free to participate and get to know everyone! Most of our discussion happens on our Discord server, where you can talk with other players, request battles, discuss team building and more! This is also the best place to head to if you have any questions that you need answered right away -- there should always be someone available to help you out! And finally, our subreddit is where any updates and important information can be found. If you're looking for a list of rules for tournaments, team-building resources, tournament date schedules, etc, you'll be able to find it there! You can also post there if you have anything to say regarding opinions and anything else! In terms of how our battling plays out, players participate in seasons. In these seasons, we hold tournaments with varying battle formats such that players earn invitations to a grand championship tournament - where large prizes are up for the taking! I’m going to go through our battle formats, rulesets and prizes and how they all work, so let’s get right in! Seasons Near the beginning of each month, a new season will start with various tournaments to enter throughout. Entering these tournaments may earn players real, modest cash prizes and invitations to enter the championship tournament at the end of the season -- where top players earn even greater prizes! All of our tournaments showcase varying themes and rulesets to encourage diversity in team-building and playstyles, so that tournaments never grow stale! A season typically lasts three months to host six tournaments: two per month, with two weeks to prepare. One Prize Tournament and one Free Tournament are held per month. Prize Tournaments use the Core or Eternal Rulesets while Free Tournaments utilize Casual or Gimmick Rulesets -- which are all explained in greater detail below (rules, etc). Championship tournaments showcase at the end of each season, with larger prizes in play for the top 4 players. Our Eternal ruleset is for players seeking to go all out through grinding, our Core ruleset is meant for players looking to go into a competitive scene with team-building diversity, and our Casual ruleset is meant for players just looking to have fun (without so much of a focus on grinding)! Take note of these rulesets: they’ll be some important terminology for our next little bit. Prizes What ARE our prizes, you say? Well, smaller prize tournaments held during a season are distributed either cash or gift cards with a monetary value that can be used towards nearly anything of your choice! In order to receive a cash prize, you must have a PayPal account in which we can send it to. If not, alternatively we can send gift card codes! (eShop, iTunes, etc.) NOTE: For EU, we’ll be resorting to PayPal only until we can find an EU moderator that can potentially cover the EU region (for eShop codes, gift cards, etc.) If you’d like to help out, please let us know! Tournaments Our tournaments have different formats depending on the ruleset used for that particular tournament. Casual and Gimmick tournaments use Swiss Pairings to determine matchmaking. This format matches players by their records throughout the tournament so that they’re able to compete against opponents with similar skill levels. This format also runs pretty similarly to Round Robin, so everyone gets a chance to fight against more people, and overall just have a fun time! Eternal tournaments use Single Elimination to determine who wins and who loses, quickly. This is to simulate a high-risk, high-reward setting as these tournaments host cash prizes, and so players can finish quickly and prepare for future tournaments. Finally, Core and Championship tournaments play with a combination of Swiss Pairings and Single Elimination: Swiss Pairings are played at the beginning so that players aren’t completely out of the game due to bad RNG. This way, players still have a chance to make it to the top 8 players who then advance to the second phase of the tournament: Single Elimination. From here, it’s all or nothing. One mistake can cost you, so risks just may need to be taken. Who will make it to the top? Let’s find out together! Battling Formats: Eternal, Core, Casual and Gimmick Tournaments From the experience of playing Standard PvP, it seems that the community is split into three different categories in terms of play style, or how players want to play: Players that love to grind, have many options within moderation, play the most broken strategies, and analyze the metagame with a paywall (access to DLC) Players that seek to transition into a semi-competitive format with less grinding and more creative team-building Players who want to play freely without having to constantly grind their teams to perfection, especially for new players who have just entered the Fire Emblem series through Awakening or Fates Therefore, we have three battle formats to cater to these three types of players: The Eternal Battle Format, the Core Battle Format and the Casual Battle Format. Eternal Ruleset The Eternal Battle Format appeals to players who are looking to go nearly all out! This battle format looks to bring out the most in competition as possible, with rules that change infrequently. It is tailored for players that enjoy grinding, have many options to choose from, look to go through the best possible strategies within the limits of the rules, and deeply analyze the meta from access to DLC. Specific Rules are as follows: No Forges greater than +3. Weapons with the Brave property may not be forged, such as the Brave Sword, Lance, Axe, Snake Spirit, etc. Lightning is excluded from this rule. Tonics are allowed, but Rainbow Tonics are not. A max of 4 boots may be used on any team. No Einherjar or bond units. Pavise and Aegis may not be used in tandem, including through Nohrian Trust. No Warp or Lethality. No Castle Maps, Valley Settlement, or Fort Dragonfall. A maximum of two flying units per team. Songstress class is banned. DLC is limited to what is available in NA or EU (depending on the region). Only skills a unit may get legally are allowed (consult here) You may bring a max of 1 Rescue staff. Rescue staves are not allowed on Falcon Knights A max of two Replicate units allowed per team. A max of two Nohrian Trust units allowed per tem. Galeforce may not be combined with any combination Life and Death, Aggressor and Spendthrift more than once. This means you can only use Galeforce in combination with one of these skills, not two or three. NOTE: Quick Draw and the six Faire skills do not apply to this rule. Core Ruleset The Core Battle Format appeals to players who are familiar with the Fire Emblem series and are looking to transition to a format with Eternal rules, but are still looking for creativity in teams and fair games. Though this format appears to be casual, it’s deceivingly deep! Specific Rules are as follows: Parent units may only use Heart Seal classes/skills Child units may only use classes/skills from their two default sets Players may only forge shop weapons with unlimited shop inventory up to +3 No DLC skills/classes No Nohrian Trust Corrin/Corrin kids All other Eternal Rules Casual Ruleset Finally, the Casual Battle Format appeals to players who are just looking to have a good time! This battle format provides a fun atmosphere for players of all styles to play, and focuses more on community engagement rather than competitive engagement. The Casual Battle Format is recommended for players who are just starting out with the series and/or just looking to have a fun time! Specific Rules are as follows: Parent units only use Heart Seal classes/skills No Child Units No Forging any weapons No DLC skills/classes All other Eternal Rules Gimmick Ruleset / Tournaments Just as implied, Gimmick Tournaments have a certain theme or rules in order to make some interesting team-building ideas, such as our upcoming 3v3 Royals and Retainers Gimmick Tournament and past 3v3 Beaststones and Dragonstones Gimmick Tournament! Gimmick Tournament rules include all other Casual and Eternal rules, and a few special rules depending on the tournament, which normally won’t exceed one or two. --- Introduction Tournament If you are interested in the sub, we will be having our introductory tournament on Saturday, July 23rd, 2016. This tournament will use our Core ruleset, and is a 5v5 Tournament! Specific rules such as times and the like will be posted on the subreddit and Discord channel soon -- so you’ll still have time to prepare your teams! --- And that’s all! If you have any questions, please feel free to post on this thread and even leave some feedback! I’ll try my best to answer. 14. I had a weird thought; if you could give each character a theme song, what would it be? If you wish, I will keep track of your opinions on this post. (I'll keep editing, and if we gather enough attention, I may start conducting polls later on) ---- I haven't thought too far into this, but I think Takumi's theme song would be On My Own - By Ashes Remain
  15. What are good pairings for birthright? So far ive only done: Ryoma/Kagero FeMu/Silas Who else is good for who? EDIT: I'm looking for optimal children.

  18. Attention, all NA and EU players! Hey everyone! I’m Delta, a moderator over at Fire Emblem Fates: Tournaments. If you’re wondering what that is, Fire Emblem Fates: Tournaments is a small community of players interested in playing Fire Emblem PvP, with balanced and fair rules to make it more fun to play! Saturday, August 27th, 2016 is the date where we begin our casual tournament: The 3v3 Royals and Retainers Gimmick Tournament! As implied in the name, this gimmicky tournament has teams consisting of 3 units -- one royal from either Hoshido or Nohr, and their two retainers -- who battle it out to make it to the top! As this is our first gimmick tournament, casual rules will apply: Units will only be allowed to use classes available to them via Heart Seal, and there will be no forging and no DLC classes/skills allowed. However, with this being a gimmick tournament, we'll have a few gimmick rules as well! This will encourage some more creative team-building and allow everyone to have a great time! We'll reveal said gimmick rules sometime during the week! Season 1 Various tournaments are played through a season, which all have different rulesets from time to time. There are about two tournaments per month, with 2 weeks in between each one to give players time to breathe and prepare for their next tournament. Playing in these tournaments invites players to the grand Championship Tournament, where we’ll have actual cash prizes/gift cards/eShop cards for the top players! Here’s the schedule regarding Season 1: Month 1: Prize Tourney: 8/13 (ETERNAL) - Qualifier to Championship Free Tourney: 8/27 (GIMMICK - 3v3 Royals and Retainers) Month 2: Prize Tourney: 9/10 (CORE) - Qualifier to Championship Free Tourney: 9/24 (GIMMICK - 5v5 Capture Units) Month 3: Prize Tourney: 10/8 (ETERNAL) - Qualifier to Championship Prize Tourney: 10/23 (CORE CHAMPIONSHIP) - Payout ($20, $10, $5, $5) --- Gimmick tournaments do not give an invitation to the Championship tournament. It's purely for fun! However, by participating in the upcoming Eternal tournaments or Core tournament, you will earn an invitation to the Championship Core Tournament at the end of the season, where there will be cash pay outs depending on your placement! If you place high within these qualifying tournaments, you will also earn byes for the first part of the Championship tournament! As NA and EU are unable to play together due to region-locking, unfortunately, we have a separate season for EU players too. We would love to have an epic EU season plus an awesome a NA season as well. --- The gimmick tournament will start on Saturday, August 27th, 2016 at 1 PM EST, and team submissions will end on the same day at 11 AM CST. This is to ensure that the moderation team has enough time to check over everyone’s team for legality, and so players have a chance to do some last minute preparations. After you submit a team, please join our Discord and Reddit page to see all the latest news and updates! We will have our sign-up page along with more specifics, up during the week on our subreddit and Discord chat! If you’re still a bit confused or want some more information, please check out our informational post and feel free to ask questions! We hope to see you soon! --- Please follow and join our: Twitter! 20. I would like to know what character has what statue tied to them for example Ryoma has a strength statue while Xander has defence statue and so on and so forth. I've been looking everywhere for a list but can't seem to find one so if someone could reply with a link or list of as many characters as possible that would be very much appreciated :)
  21. [There shall be spoilers here, variously placed...] Here in the Forest, I know this review will be preaching to a choir (and some preachers), but there really isn't any place else to put forth this review... except my blog but that's like preaching to some crickets. And anyway, isn't this supposed to be a Fire Emblem Fansite? Aren't we supposed to support each other, support compatibility be damned? As the internet has become (not sure about the timeframe, I will need more hindsight before I can be certain) a place to be angry at other peeps and to also throw said peeps in the dirt for not knowing everything and getting with a program... I should set my expectations low... or something. Whatever. I'm getting a bit misanthropic and I haven't even started the review yet! Plus, my ability to amass a very long paragraph never ceases to fascinate me... The following review will touch on points that have been touched, poked, prodded, and beaten to death far too many times before (you guys' ability to finish, be done with, and intellectually digest a game many months in advance of this review amazes me. Well done, I believe your chances of survival might be greater in the era when machines are our bosses and all they care about is speed and efficiency). I hope that you might find some of the points I touch on and some of the thoughts I share to be new(ish). Now, time to put my college-level analysis skills to work! So, I finally dug into Fire Emblem Fates sometime in April. I bought the Special Edition at way over retail pricing, bought most of the DLC, and even forked over for five amiibos just so I could have Marth, Ike, Avatar MK III, and Lucina in the game. It's now nearing August and my 3DS sits in the corner, unused. My third playthrough, Revelations, is about 7 chapters before the end and I can't really bring myself to finishing it. I know I'll eventually get around to finishing it but I've never quite experienced this before in a Fire Emblem game. This is still (technically) the first playthrough of the whole kit-and-kabootle and I can't really find the motivation to finish it off. So, "what's the issue?" I asked myself. Many of you have already asked this question and already addressed your thoughts on this website. I'll attempt to list my thoughts here without trying to follow the majority's thoughts. My conclusions I came to on my own: if they match up with other people's previous thoughts, I assure you it's 90% coincidence. I only really started peeking around SF to try and see if other people were feeling the same way about this game as I a few weeks ago and a lot of this stuff was brewing in my head before that. So, I'm going to talk about various pros and cons to the game. Hopefully as we go along we'll discover what I think makes Fire Emblem special and what of what specialness is missing from Fates... So without further TL;DR, let's get cracking! Pros 1. This is a pretty game. The characters are well detailed (we'll get to that in greater detail, I assure you) and the maps are all very well put together. The designs for the various classes are excellent. The artwork is pleasing (for the most part). The cutscenes are exemplary and they really put a lot of effort into the battle-model cutscene-ish type stuff (such a gamer I am) in the in-between-battle conversations. The game, in short, *looks* great. 2. Music is fantastic. As you know, music is all important in a video game to help bring home emotions and the general feel of the game (Skyrim still takes the crown for best use of this, but as my close second is a game from 1998 called FreeSpace, you'll realize quickly how much of a bumpkin I am). The music in Fates accomplishes this task well. And then it takes things up to eleven with these pieces: I only wish this piece would've been used in an all-sky battle with dragons fighting pegesi... but then you'd be restricted to like 6 units so yeah. Why couldn't this have been the battle theme for fighting on Grima's back??? Overall, the music is an improvement over Awakening (though Awakening had some good moments... maybe I'm just not a fan of accordion) and well done. 3. This game is mechanically well put together. Now that doesn't mean the game is perfect. Over-nerfing anything that isn't a Killer or Iron weapon is something they should never do again. The Dragon Vein function is a bit overused and reduced to gimmickry at times. That said, the maps are a tremendous improvement over Awakening. They did succeed in nerfing the pair-up function just enough, which gives something that resembles an actual challenge. The AI is a little more competent and you can't block reinforcements anymore, which is well done (being the type that likes to squeeze as much EXP out of a battle as possible, it's nice to know I won't be missing out on some enemies whist taking advantage of a fort). Ah, are the pros finished? I'd best get to the cons then... Cons 1. The story takes center stage. When I finished Birthright, my first thought was, "Was that Fire Emblem? That didn't feel like Fire Emblem." To me, Fire Emblem is about the secondary/tertiary characters. The fact that you can raise such a side character from mediocrity up into an UltraBadass as a honored member of the team is extraordinary. To date I have not encountered another game that allows you to do this (and if you, reader, know of another game like this, please let me know! I crave it! (TearRing Saga and Berwick Saga don't count)). It makes the player feel like they're doing something special, something that they're not supposed to do. (Train up some practically-an-NPC? Preposterous!) And some games in the series reward you for this: through support conversations, you learn that this practical nobody has thoughts and feelings of their own and the character starts to come to life. One of the ways FE7 (I'll be picking on this'un a lot) does this is the story. The main characters aren't tremendously interesting in my opinion and the main story as such is only "there" if you want it. Basically, it's easy to get into the story but just as easy to remove yourself from it as well. The main attraction isn't quite the main story but instead the little paralell stories of your selected team as they intertwine with the main story here and there between going off in their own directions. Fates doesn't really allow this to happen. Fates felt like an anime. Not a shabby one, but an anime nonetheless. Makes sense, considering the main guy who wrote it is a famous manga writer. The story isn't gelling with the Fire Emblem concept (in my eyes), it's trying to fight it. The story feels like this really deep manga that's trying to get out and become the center of attention... but we gotta pause all that because some "Fire Emblem nonsense" has to be observed. We gotta take this battle in turns. The stunning cutscenes and the really long inbetween-chapter dialogues really hammer this home. It's like the really Fire Emblem-y bits (you know, the battles) don't play a very big part of this story. And there's resistance to this story-dominated idea too. The "world map" function (not exactly as such) will show you where your next battle is... but in order to get to the context of how you bloody got there (in some cases, on a completely different continent) is all had in about thirty-odd minutes of conversations and cutscenes before the battle (which is where the point on the map is). It is, to say the least, totally immersion-breaking. Lastly, the story taking center stage (as the hype touted) means that there are more eyes on it, which means the flaws are more obvious. Sure, FE7 is not without its flaws in the story, but in that game you have the ability to turn off the story in your mind just enough to not care about said flaws but not enough for the battle to be meaningless. Here, you are so focused on taking the story seriously that the whole experience is ruined. 2. There is little context for the cutscenes. All the cutscenes are so pretty and cool and well done (with the exception of one that really Erks me) that you feel like you're catching glimpses of a really cool anime. The story really doesn't live up to them. I'll pick on the most problematic cutscene, the opening battle thing: Now that is a fantastic little piece. Gosh, I'd want to play the game that comes from... Oh snap. So what's the context of that scene? I'll have a go: Xander takes a shitton of soldiers over a handful of precarious rope bridges over a bottomless pit in less than a week at most and manages to get several miles (again, at least) into his enemy's country. Chronologically and logistically that's impossible. Why does Xander do this? To get Avatar back? Because Daddy said so? To show Hoshido his might? Were they even at war? There's no reason at all; none is given and there's no way you can accurately guess. If you say Xander invaded after Mikoto's death then how could he have possibly known the barrier was down, amassed a shitton of soldiers, crossed the border, and gotten a third of the way into Hoshido... in a matter of hours? Are these countries like two miles across? (This is actually another problem, I'm getting off topic) Where does the battle go from there? Who wins? Who loses? Did Xander's men turn around and go home? Did the invasion continue? Your guess is as good as mine. See, the battle cutscene has no context. It's merely there because LobsterChan ShockySword needs an awesome setting to challenge ChizzledBrow EvilSword. The thing is, if there wasn't all this hype about how great FE Fates's story was gonna be, I wouldn't care... well, not as much, anyway. 3. For a game with a player created character... you don't have much input in your character. I've somewhat touched on this before (slightly) but Fire Emblem is a backward series. I suppose it's really Nintendo, isn't it? Whatever the reason, Fire Emblem has always been somewhat behind the times. FE1 would be more at home in 1985 than 1990, right? FE5 came out in 1999... on the SNES... because nine year old platforms are better? FE9's graphics are more 2000 than 2005. Finally, IS gave you an Avatar, a nod to what "Western" RPGs have been doing since the mid 90s... Now I'm really needlessly ragging (to an extent). State-of-the-Art graphics don't make a good game (case in point) and I would say Fire Emblem is fun and unique despite any shortcomings it terms of modernity it may have. But you have to understand the context. IS seems to integrate things into their games as token nods to trends. One of their nods is the Avatar. In Awakening, you were given two (three? can't remember) moments where you were asked what to do with your Avatar ("Let Lucina slice you up with her Falchion?" "Sacrifice Emmeryn for Juna Fruit?") and aside from the big decision at the end, they had no baring on the plot what-so-ever. It was a token nod to games like Skyrim and Dragon Age (yeah, you didn't have much choice in these games either, but it felt like you did...) and even so, it did make you feel like you had a thimble-full of control over the story... harharhar... And then in Fates, you have no control at all. Basically, you chose what skin model your Avatar has. You get to sit back and watch as your Avatar is a hypocrite and a terrible person. We all know this. There was more room for head cannon in Awakening partially because the traditional "story can fade into the background" Fire Emblem method and partially because the Avatar in that game was so personality-less than you could insert anything you wanted pretty much into that character. I'm not saying I want every Fire Emblem to have this sort of thing forevermore... rather, as a one-time-only thing, it works enough. In Fates, your fate is to decide: A. You are an airhead, blind to the hypocrisy around you and within you, whist pretending you want to really change your evil country for the better. B. You are an airhead, blind to the hypocrisy around you and within you, whist pretending you're doing the good guy thing. C. You are an airhead, but in an uncharacteristic stroke of sense, you decide there must be something more to all the crap going on around you. We at IS apologize for making this sound like a cooler option because somehow, it's just not. So not only can you not put any characterization of your own onto YOUR AVATAR THAT YOU MADE (this is, as you've guessed, the primary reason why Avatars exist in video games and also this is usually where a player derives joy and pleasure from their creativity) but the character that you get your name/looks stamped onto is generally unlikable. 4. Does anybody learn anything in this story? Sorta? The purpose of a story is that a main character learns something. Like really, a character starts out an idiot (give or take) and then ends off way more wise. Does the Avatar do any of this? Is this where IS expected us to put our head cannon? I dunno...moving on. 5. There's no real reason to use anybody who isn't a Royal. This is especially obvious in Revelation. You've got ten royals: one's a singer, two are healers, one's a mage glass cannon, three are powerhouse tanks, two are flyers, the Avatar never fails to be one of the best units in the game, and Leo's not too shabby of a unit either. They all can support most of the others, half of them come with no-strings-attached badass weapons (which has become quite a commodity in this game which is bogus by itself), Elise is so crazy with MAG that you could give her a regular Thunder and call it a day, and every single one of them can use a Dragon Vein. That's an ultimate dreamteam if there ever was one. Who could ask for anything more? That's a problem. Why does one replay Fire Emblem? To try out other characters and unlock supports (and then just keep beating Hector Hard Mode until the Sun melts your cartridge). Why would you want to do that here when your obvious dreamteam never changes? What's the point of switching things up when: 1. The Royals stats, weapons (in some cases), and abilities are all so superior. 2. The story is so in your face (with so much time taken on conversations and so many cutscenes) that you feel compelled to use the relevant characters: The Royals. Now of course you don't "have" to use the royals (Thank God) but the game certainly favors them, which puts the other characters at a disadvantage... And why is it 90% of the non-Royal characters are retainers of said royals? It just doesn't make the game's world seem all that big. This leads to... 6. There is a ton of build up and very little payoff; The worldbuilding sucks. Who are the Astral Dragons? Who are the First Dragons? What was Xander, Leo, and Camilla's big mission before they joined Avatar in Conquest? Why is there a Dragon's Gate in Nohr? Who possessed Takumi (really) and why wasn't he possessed at all in Revelation? The Avatar was quarantined? What was the story of the Avatar's life in Nohr? What's the Rainbow Sage's deal? Why were Divine Weapons given to 16 year olds; did they have to prove themselves? Where did the Divine Weapons come from? Where did Ganglari and Evil!Takumi's Evil!Yumi come from? If FE14 was just a one part story, these questions (and more) would just add up to some terrible writing and a lackluster game... But Fates is in three parts. That made things way, way worse. I call it Trilogy Syndrome, actually. The first story is pretty good, the second not so much, and the third... wtf was that?!? Various trilogies suffer from this to varying degrees. The idea being at the end of the first installment, anything goes and you develop what you think'll happen in your head, in the second one, your ideas are narrowed by how the storytellers went, and by the third one you're pissed because things went way different than what went on in your head. Fates is special because it's all one story... but still it suffers from Trilogy Syndrome. At the end of Birthright, I had more questions than answers... and so I thought the next two would answer those questions. Sure, Conquest opened things up more, but not enough and not in the right places. Now on Revelation and take your pick of above. None of those things are answered (not really). Too much is left to the imagination. The support conversations, the Avatar's past, the history of the land, the name of the bloody continent... I could go on for hours. It's a very barren, bony world. I think the developers thought that you, as the Avatar, would already know this stuff. That's what it feels like. The game just starts with very very little backstory as to what happened before. Every other Fire Emblem worldbuilds better. Not the most exemplary of worldbuilding, sure, but I got a sense of what Elibe was like, of who lived there and what they believed. What the relationship between the countries was. Just a little bit of prompting and I could imagine myself there... I couldn't even tell you the name of the FE14 continent. Nobody can. It doesn't even have a name. It's like they stopped trying. 7. Even Anna seems less interesting. It's like Anna has become a parody of her FE13 self. I much rather preferred that voice actress anyway. Why couldn't they just import FE13 Anna into this game??? 8. What is up with Charlotte??? Charlotte is an appalling character... Why is she going into battle in her panties? (It's like they're not even trying) Why is she such a disgusting person? Why is she literally a sex object? ("Did you come for business or... leik idk pleasur?") I had already branded Camilla as Aversa Mk II but then I found this one. I guess she's something of a female Vaike. Vaike was his own crazy... I guess Ylisse has coastline and desert... but what context does Chrom's Shepherds have for a really tanned surfer dude? I guess he's so ridiculous he's somehow likable... but Charlotte... literally has been the acme of unlikable. I dunno, maybe it's just a minor offense compared to the story... oh, and the following... 9. The children. WTF!?!?! (I know, I know, so many people have said this before. I need to vent, please) So firstly, the characters decided that instead of waiting until after the war to have kids LIKE A NORMAL PERSON WOULD AND LIKE IN EVERY OTHER FIRE EMBLEM, they ought to get it on with each other immediately with such ravishing that each female got knocked up. Then, because in Fates time is... wha? ...apparently, every female had a baby in a matter of (insert time unit most convenient for plot) while the war is on... (can you fight pregnant? No, no you can't) and this is why worldbuilding is important because the bogus-ness of this sentence is impossible. Now, because everybody in the army lives in an untouchable castle in a pocket Astral dimension that can't be breached unless the plot demands it... the Avatar and/or Lilith decided it was too dangerous to have a bunch of babies around... despite there being a full time butler, two maids, a ninja, whomever you decided to bench, an untold amount of nameless villagers, and a Jeigan on hand, despite your aforementioned castle having enough dragon veins to easily make a fully impenetrable fortress-daycarecentre. So, to deal with the non-existent danger to the babies, Avatar and Lilith decided to chuck all the babies into different pocket dimensions where time is accelerated so that in a few days (I guess) the babies are teenagers and/or grown adults. There's no mention of whom will take care of the babies/toddlers/kids but it's certainly not the parents or anybody from the army... so babies can get their own food in this world... or--I don't even know. So after all that, which is defined as child abuse, these teens/adults are supposed to like their parents showing up to save their rears one day... and then they join the army. You got all that? I sure haven't. I can't believe somebody wrote that and thought "that's a good idea." ...I'm going to leave it there. These aren't the only problems Fates has, just the ones that really really cripple it to death. The thing is, I want to like this game... I wish some of these characters were in a better game. I guess there's always fan fiction? Overall, it was a nice idea at first but what we got wasn't what we were promised; that was clearly the biggest mistake on their part. Clearly several right hands had no idea what the left hands were doing. The best way to improve, first and foremost, is to have a congruent team. This story was so bad... but the gameplay was rather enjoyable. And maybe IS should either make an Avatar that the player can actually have make decisions for different outcomes or just forgo the Avatar entirely. Of course we all know they aren't gonna learn from Fates or treat it as a mistake. They've found the cash cow, they reckon, and now they're going to milk it dry... It's sad that Fire Emblem is like this now. The series was saved but at what cost? Maybe the next game will be better... maybe Vestaria Saga will be better... maybe it's time to move on...
  22. Does anyone know the requirements that must be fulfilled in order to have the characters who can die survive? Obviously there are some unavoidable ones, but I'm scared I will have to see some of my favourite characters die if I don't do it right. I am playing Conquest, but Birthright ones are also welcome.
  23. This is a daily thing where I pick a random unit from fates, then make a post about it asking people's opinion on that character based on his/her stats, character, design, voice actor, etc... Today's character is: Saizo! What is your opinion on Saizo? Here's there link to the previous one if you missed it: http://serenesforest.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=65289
  24. Two aspiring writers and friends of mine recently put together a 40 minute review for Fire Emblem Fates Birthright, Conquest and (part of) Revelation, only recently released in the UK. They discuss the new features that help improve the "Awakening" formula, others they aren't so fussed about, and the character writing that made the all important decision so difficult for them. Hope you enjoy! https://youtu.be/-bpqjAsbXEg?t=28m45s
  25. My first playthrough of Lunatic Conquest really put me on edge. I had to lower it to casual mode after a while. I know Xander joins late but upon recruiting him I want to see how well he handles the last half of lunatic conquest by himself...after applying enemy only skills. This isn't for online play obviously as enemy only skills will just result in me getting shadowbanned but I really want to mess around with ridiculous hacks. I'm not entirely too sure what other skills to throw on him besides dragonskin and immune status (for those pesky staff users). What other ridiculous skills should I throw on him? And what about his stats? Ridiculous stats sound fun but maybe not too overboard? Maybe I should only give his speed a "boost" just so he can hit things better. Or perhaps he shouldn't even be a paladin. And his weapons I'm unsure about as well. I guess I'm really just asking for help picking a ridiculous Xander to solo the ending half of Lunatic Conquest.
