  1. Sorry to ask this but I've been quite unsuccessful in this so far, likely due to my own difficulty reading current guides on this. I'd like to change a few of the character names in a patched rom of FE4. I've tried using Nightmare plugins but, frankly, I don't know what I'm doing and the only way for this to get done will be if I ask for help. On the bright side, if I can edit the names to match the up-to-date localised versions (Diadora to Deirdre and the like) I could make a new patch and share it, so that other people don't have to do the same. Sorry if this is in the wrong place, or anything like that. As you can tell (especially by my username) I haven't used this website much or posted anything really. That's why my name is eeeeeee.
  2. I'm very new to hex editing, but I thought it was simple enough that I could do it on my own. So, I'm trying to put Circleseverywhere's FE8 Native Instruments BIN into my FE8 hack, and it worked perfectly with a clean file (the custom music works and everything). Now, I tried the same with my edited ROM, which has nightmare edits and text/portrait/sprite edits from Feditor Adv, and the game crashes whenever actual gameplay comes up. I can navigate the title screen and even access the sound room to hear my custom music, but the World Map and Link Arena cause the game to freeze. I tried inserting the BIN into the free space at 00B2A610 and free space I made myself at the end of the ROM, both with the same results. Another quirk is when I start a new game: immediately after the cutscenes end, the game resets itself. Is there an issue with the free space that's conflicting with Feditor Adv or Nightmare? And if it is, is there an easy fix or would I simply have to start all over with a clean ROM?
  3. I've been trying to do an edited playthrough of FE4 for fun, and everything's gone well so far except for the fact I've changed both Sigurd and Seliph into alternative classes (Sage and Mage), and as a result they can't sieze castles unless I do something. None of the Nightmare modules I use allow me to mess with it, and though I've seen the solution through Hex editing in Lamia's FE4 hacking thread, the Hex editor I'm using doesn't go far enough to reach that address, so I feel like I'm missing something. If somebody could direct me to the necessary tool or even just a patch to make it tied to their character ID instead of class then I'd appreciate it.
  4. Hello, I came to ask a simple question... If I want to play as a golem in fe fates how do I hex edit the save so I can change character ids and class ids? And I know of one member's efforts, but it didn't exactly help me... So please answer this question and thank you for your time.
  5. I've decoded the text from Quirino's FE1 translation. If no one has done it before, that is. Anyway, most of the text has been decoded. Enjoy! FE1 Text Table.zip
  6. I think I could be really good with hex editing... if I could just figure out how to make more free space. I read the Ultimate Tutorial, but my table looked different and I just couldn't figure it out. If anyone has a more dumbed-down tutorial or can give me good instructions on making/finding free space, I would be super grateful.
