  1. Ladies and gentlemen, after a short hiatus, I present to you all... Fire Emblem Requiem! Fire Emblem Requiem came pretty much out of nowhere. One day, nobody knew what it was. The day after that, it was a totally completed hack and everyone was surprised. The synopsis is thus: On the continent of Emire, 17 years ago, a thirteen year war (commonly referred to as the "Great War") ended as the vassals of a Emperor turned against him to remove him from power and established themselves as separate powers in the mainland, bringing about a new era peace in the lands. This hack follows those in the noble house of Olva and more specifically the two children of the head of the house, Valentine and Ash, as another noble house, Egarde, threatens them by declaring war on them. Meanwhile, a more sinister threat grows to present itself. As for the hack's quality? Other specifics? I have no idea. I've done my best to keep myself spoiler-free, and so I'm going into this blind. We'll be finding things out as they happen! Won't that be exciting? Here's the topic for the hack, if you want to play it for yourself! Now, without further ado: Fire Emblem Requiem: Prelude: I'll post growths next time, this is getting long as it is.
  2. EDIT: I have officially retired from making let's plays! If any of the images are broken, please post on this thread or PM me, and I'll see if I can do anything about it. So, I was recently informed that apparently, some of my older let's plays are getting harder to find. I keep a list in my signature, but it's constantly getting longer, and bulkier, and I've had to de-link some due to URL limits. So! Here it is! An official list, with retrospective commentary, collecting links to all my LPs in one place. Also, to anyone who doesn't know about my LPs: I like to do screenshot playthroughs of Fire Emblem ROMhacks... I mean...Fan Projects! I started my first LP, FE7 Chaos Mode, on September 17 2014 (eg: A Long Time Ago), and just sort of... never stopped doing let's plays. And that's how I got to where I am today! Not really anywhere in particular! THE OFFICIAL LIST OF ALL OF MY LET'S PLAY THREADS, IN ORDER OF RECENCY: FE7 Chaos Mode: The later levels got a touch difficult and tactics like this may be required. LENGTH: Quite Long STATUS: Finished START DATE: Sep. 17 2014 END DATE: Jan. 9 2015 My very first let's play, and the one that started it all! I was still trying to "find my style", so to speak, but I still think it turned out really well. If you want to read all my stuff, I would definitely suggest starting here. FE7 Chaos Mode was an interesting hack and definitely a good one for a first LP, even though there were about 8 other people also playing it at the time. Road to Ruin: My favorite levels were when I could control generics. Things got crazy fun. LENGTH: Medium STATUS: Finished for now START DATE: Nov. 13 2014 END DATE: Dec. 3 2014 Road to Ruin was a good let's play of a neat hack, which at the time was new and cool. It's a pity Road to Ruin as a project seems to have been abandoned, since it had so much going for it. Still, I think this is one of my better let's plays. NOTE: "Finished for now" means that the LP thread could be revived from the dead if the hack I played is updated with new chapters! Corrupt Theocracy: Just enjoying the brilliant story and characterization. LENGTH: Very Long STATUS: Finished START DATE: Dec. 8 2014 END DATE: Feb. 11 2015 Corrupt Theocracy is probably my most interesting let's play. I think it's one of, if not the, best and most hilarious Let's Plays here. At the same time, however, I took a rather negative attitude towards the whole thing and kind of acted like a jerk throughout. So, I would like to apologize for that. It was if anything one of my most popular screenshot runs, climbing very high up on the most viewed/replied columns for this entire subforum. Elibian Nights: What else could I use to describe it? LENGTH: 3 millimeters STATUS: Did it even start? START DATE: Dec. 26 2014 END DATE: Dec. 26 2014 The beta of the full version of Elibian Nights was released! But... it was super buggy... so I decided to put the LP on hold for a few days while it was all fixed. ...Was it ever fixed?? I haven't been keeping track of the thread... either way, I didn't come back to it and may never will. Death or Glory: Probably one of the darkest stories in FE hacking. LENGTH: Medium STATUS: Finished for now START DATE: Jan. 26 2015 END DATE: Feb. 16 2015 Like Road to Ruin, Death or Glory was a very good hack, and I think this turned out to be a good LP, even if not a particularly memorable one. A quick note, I transcribe all dialogue in the hacks that I LP, and generally, this means you'll get to see the hack's whole story. Death or Glory has a very good story, and so that really helped make the playthrough interesting. Markyjoe's Hacks: The hacks made me commit many crimes against humanity. I am not sure if I will ever recover. LENGTH: Long-Ish STATUS: Finished START DATE: Feb. 16 2015 END DATE: Apr. 4 2015 I called the thread "All of Markyjoe's crap", which was intended to be funny, but looking back, it was a really a rather presumptuous title. It was only, like, 70% crap. I think this thread turned out well, particularly due to Markyjoe popping in and giving lots of entertaining and insightful commentary as to the level design. I initially planned to only play 5 hacks (Old Fire Mumblem, Tactician Hell, New Fire Mumblem, Super Hard Lyn Mode, and Chronicles of Lussaria) but was later convinced to play 2 more (Corruption of Roy, a ragefest submission, and Project Shoeshine as well). All of them are in the thread. The Rolling Request Thread: (TOTAL) LENGTH: Extremely Long STATUS: On a maybe-permanent hiatus Finished START DATE: Apr. 2 2015 HIATUS END DATE: Nov. 30 2015 I was faced with a quandary: There are a lot of little hacks out there I wanted to play, but I couldn't flood the forums and make a thread for every last one of them! And that's how this thread was born. It went on for a super-long time and I played a ton of hacks throughout, and I think it was fun for everyone. After a while, though, I stopped it because I was quite simply running out of little hacks to play, and I wanted to focus more on some of the major, longer hacks. Still! There's lots to read and enjoy, if you want! ALL THE LPs CONTAINED WITHIN: The Reckoning: Original character Do not steal LENGTH: Medium STATUS: Canceled/Finished START DATE: July 6 2015 END DATE: Aug. 2 2015 The Reckoning was a hack that was initially removed from Serenes Forest due to what was straight-up sprite theft from other creators. I managed to download it before it was removed, and I thought it would be fun to play through it. I was wrong. We got pretty far, but eventually I just stopped because I had lots of better hacks to move on to. You can read through it if you want but it's nothing particularly special. GhebFE: How the creator made this hack. LENGTH: Too Long STATUS: Finished START DATE: Aug. 3 2015 END DATE: Mar. 25 2016 GhebFE... well, being completely honest, it's probably going to be pretty funny to you viewers, but for me, I can remember this with nothing other than regret. The hack is vulgar, it is rude, filled with inappropriate jokes that mean you probably shouldn't read it if you're 8, and you might choke on the tears of pain i cry while trying to play it. Fire Emblem Requiem: Running theme: Cowardly Bosses LENGTH: Quite Long STATUS: Finished START DATE: Apr. 3 2016 END DATE: Feb. 19 2017 Requiem was the very last hack I played (or, at least, the last LP that finished), and was a good note to end on. The hack had good gameplay and a good story, and was all-around a pleasant experience. I would recommend playing it yourself if you don't want to read an LP of it. FE8: HELLA AWESOME LIGHTNING BOOTS: Imagine FE8 but with the units like this LENGTH: Medium STATUS: Canceled START DATE: May 2 2016 END DATE: September 6 2016 It was regular FE8, except with the units all having their classes, stats, and recruitment order shuffled. The plan was for me and many other LPers to play it at the same time, butt I was in a period of very slow updates. Trying to split my limited time between this and Requiem was killing me, and the other LPers had finished by the time I was nearing halfway through. In the end, I canceled it so I could devote more time to Requiem - a decision much agreed upon by my readers. You can read what I did do, or, if you want a full let's play, one of the full threads is here. By Mr. Night! And... that's everything! ...Yup, that's all my FE screenshot LPs! There's nothing more! Before I go, I'd just like to thank all of you viewers out there! You're the reason I do all this, so thank you for all your comments, support, criticism and whatever else. I hope to continue doing great LPs in the future! Also... could you all do me one more favor? If there's a problem in any of my LPs, like, images breaking, or a link isn't working, or whatever, post about it here. That way, we don't need to necro-post anything! One last thing! I'm not quite happy with some of my screenshots right now. I feel like they could be better. If while reading through my LPs, if you find a screenshot of mine that better emphasized the hack in question, let me know!
  3. Welcome to Fire Emblem 8: Hella Awesome Lightning Boots! ([H.A.L.B.] For short) This is a randomized and edited version of FE8. It was edited by Klokinator and features a number of gimmicks, though the editing is not at the level of FE7CM, and this hack is unrelated to FE8CM. Don't get it twisted. -Every character in every class, player and enemy, has 9 movement. The exception is the Demon King. -Weapon effects wasn't checked in this image, but I did check it in reality. Every weapon has a very high chance to add any 1 extra effect, such as poison, unlimited uses, a stat boost, or even the Devil effect. Watch out! -Character classes, their recruitment order, their growths are all totally randomized, and boss classes are also randomized. Character bases are also randomized, though to a smaller degree. -Every enemy and every boss has had their growths increased up to 100%. Some enemies will be very difficult, though this is subjective as I've allowed the tower and ruins grinding as needed. -Items are also randomized, though to a lesser degree. Initially I wanted to edit descriptions for the LPers but since FEditor is borked after randomizing, that won't happen. The goal of this LP is to try out a new gimmick (All units with 9 movement) but also to show off the all new (not really) WIP FE8 Randomizer Fix Patch! If you guys want to randomize with Otaku's randomizer, apply my patch and randomize! (In that order, please) Important fixes include monster weapons displaying stats properly and Eirika always being able to wield the Rapier (Provided her class can wield swords). Also if you randomize her position around (As I did) then the new not-lord won't but that's beside the point. The LPers can play Ephraim or Eirika route, though Eirika route is recommended since I have not playtested Ephraim's. Each LPer has a list of three units. They MUST use all three. They cannot use any units assigned to other LPers. These units appear at random intervals throughout the game. The LPers are only required to use the units on non-Ruins/Tower chapters. (Ie: Main story) and can grind them up if needed. Any units not listed can be used by everyone without limits. Here are the unit lists: [1] The Trifecta of Terror: Neimi, Amelia, Gerik [TAKEN BY TEQUILA] [2] Lords of Chaos: Moulder, Rennac, Duessel [TAKEN BY ECLIPSE] [3] Where's Gerik?: Innes, Tethys, Marisa [AUTO ASSIGNED TO MR. NIGHT] [4] Hardcore Heroes: Forde, Natasha, Saleh [TAKEN BY MONIKER] [5] Strength Without Power: L'Arachel, Ephraim, Tana [TAKEN BY KIRIE] Watch out for the demon king, and may the best LPer... win? I guess? ... And that's Klokinator's intro, made for us all to use. Now, for mine: Welcome to... Fire Emblem Hella Awesome Lightning Boots! If you didn't gather, this is a randomized ROM, which me and four others are playing through simultaneously. Each of us will take our own unique team of three units. We can use whoever we want aside from those teams, where we HAVE to use the three units we pick, and can't use ANY of the other units. Our team is Hardcore Heroes: Forde, Natasha, and Saleh. We are banned from using Neimi, Amelia, Gerik, Moulder, Rennac, Duessel, Innes, Tethys, Marisa, L'arachel, Ephraim, and Tana. That's a sizable chunk of FE8's limited units, so we'll pretty much need to take in anyone who isn't banned from us. Also! None of the LPers are allowed to look at each others' threads. So, if you see any other LPers in the "viewing this topic" area, screenshot their name and then blackmail them with it. From what I've heard, this is going to be quite difficult. We'd better be prepared for anything. I'll be posting growths and the like as normal. Expect this to be a new major let's play, and I'll be prioritizing it equally with Requiem. Don't worry though, I'll try to not let Requiem slow down too much! Without further ado: HALB: Episode 1: Prologue: The Best Worst Crutch Character Since I don't have to record tons of text, hopefully this LP will go by quickly! And hopefully, the RNG will be merciful!
  4. Alright, normally I don't post here, just read here, but this seems worth a thread, so here we go: This was brought to my attention when Extra Credits did an episode on it, and it came rather out of the blue. Checking some sources, it does seem to be a real thing that's happening. The Extra Credits video summarizes it, and you should definitely watch it if you don't want to dig through other sources. Extra Credits Video Other sources, because one isn't enough for this: BBC news News Scientist I would have liked to find more sources, but my google searches kept getting interrupted by ads for american credit score companies. If anyone can find more sources, feel free to post them here. Anyways, for those of you who don't want to check the sources, I'll sum it up: China has partnered with various social media networks in order to create a new system called Sesame Credit. Currently, it's optional, thankfully. The system tracks your posts and links on social media networks,(according to someone from China, it actually DOESN'T do that, though the Extra Credits video says it does) as well as your purchases and other things (and its being going to track more things as time goes by.), and uses them to assign a score to people depending on what they're doing. If you post "good" links, such as links to sites praising the government, you'll get an increased score. Posting "bad" links or making "bad" purchases with your money lowers your score. But that's only the start. The number it gives you isn't just a score. There's already government-mandated benefits in place for having good scores. It lets you reduce paperwork and buy cars easier if you have a good score. Right now, there's no penalties for bad scores. Right now. Another method it uses to track your score isn't what you do-it's what your FRIENDS do. Checking your score or the scores of anyone else online is as easy as a few clicks, and the site even gives you a handy map of all your friends scores. The thing is, having friends who have low scores drags your OWN score down. Meaning, you have to cut those people away from you, at least on social media, if you want a score, as having friends with bad scores will make keeping those good-score benefits you've worked for that much harder. It will be mandatory for the entire population come 2020. Extra Credits explains it all a lot better than I did, so you definitely should watch the video. This feels like something that deserves discussion. China has always maintained an extremely tight control on what its population says and does, and now its taking another step, using incentives and reward systems to keep people in check in a more subtle way. Myself, I don't think its a good thing at all. In fact, this entire thing feels like some crazy sci-fi thing. China is trying to compare this to a credit score, like we have in America, but the two aren't even close. The credit score tracks how well and often you pay your bills, not how "good of a citizen" you are!
