  1. In your opinion, should the next Fire Emblem game be for the 3DS, Wii U, or the NX? We have had two Fire Emblem games for the 3DS and none for the Wii U (apart from the crossover game). So, with the NX coming in 2017, I was wondering what people want the next Fire Emblem game to be for; the 3DS, Wii U, or NX.
  2. So Eurogamer has just posted a couple of articles that, according to various sources, reveal that the upcoming NX is a primary handheld system, but it comes with two ports that allow to attach and detach two controllers and connect the system to the TV to allow for traditional console gaming. In other words, a hybrid. http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2016-07-26-nx-is-a-portable-console-with-detachable-controllers http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/digitalfoundry-2016-nintendo-nx-mobile-games-machine-powered-by-nvidia-tegra This has NOT been confirmed by Nintendo yet, which is why I'm labeling it as RUMOR, so take it with a grain of salt. But I think it's actually a pretty cool idea and I wouldn't mind if it's true. I'll take it, provided the price is right. Comments?
  3. Two things: One; I have no idea how to make a poll (so could anyone who replies please tell me how to make this topic a poll if possible). Two; I know it has not been long since Fire Emblem Fates released. However, since Fates is the second Fire Emblem game for the 3DS, and the NX will be released in 2017, I was wondering: which of the three consoles should the next Fire Emblem game be on: 3DS, Wii U, or NX?
  4. With Sony confirming the PS4K earlier this month and Microsoft confirming Project Scorpio just minutes ago, it seems like if Nintendo's trying to be competitive with the NX they've lost their edge. Scorpio is aiming for Holiday 2017, with the PS4K likely launching around a similiar time. With the NX launch during March 2017, it will be less than a year before it becomes part of the bottom-band console hardware- gee, that sounds awfully familiar. Even though Scorpio (and most likely PS4K) don't mean a new generation, they'll still give devs much more to work with. The NX is most likely around vanilla PS4/Xbox One level- which wouldn't be an immediate issue, but definitely calls long-term 3rd party support into question. So, thoughts? As you can probably infer from my above write-up, I'm expecting the NX to face similiar problems that the Wii U did in regards to 3rd-party- though to a lesser extent, due to existing models forming the baseline. Nevertheless, outside of Nintendo upending all the rumors and releasing the NX on-par with the upcoming console iterations, I think the likelihood of Nintendo being competitive with the NX is very small.
  5. Virtual Reality seems to be all the rage these days. Should Nintendo ride the VR hype train? I think that, if Nintendo could find a way to make NX VR profitable and have VR be completely optional, then sure, why not. EDIT: To clarify, what I mean by "optional" is to have VR be an add-on peripheral sold separately from the main system.
  6. So here is a topic that's been on my mind and I want to see what you all think about it. We all know that Fire Emblem got its start on home consoles but its popularity and survival can be credited to its handheld market by far. However, even though I think the series is secure for the foreseeable future with the successes of Awakening and Fates will it remain on the handheld? A couple of years back in 2005-2008 I might have said hell yes. But with the increase in smart phone technology and popularity I don't see another dedicated handheld gaming console in Nintendo's future. At least not in the traditional sense. Lets be totally honest about something for a minute. Nintendo is lucky enough this generation the 3DS sold as well as it did and had a hard enough time as is in the beginning. Now smart phones are more prominent than ever and have a huge share of that market. In short, it doesn't make very much economic sense and its highly risky for Nintendo to release a dedicated mobile gaming console in today's market. This seems so much the case that there is speculation that Nintendo's next system the NX will be a hybrid of sorts with games that could be mutually exclusive or have some sort of incompatibility. I do enjoy the console Fire Emblems and they are hands down still my favorite games but they also didn't perform well sales wise and nearly tanked the series. While the series is in a far better position than what it was I think its easy to say Fire Emblem is fundamentally a title that suits handhelds better. But like I said with smart phones as popular as they are now how feasible is this? With the speculation that is the NX I guess we will have to wait and see...
  7. http://www.wsj.com/articles/nintendo-begins-distributing-software-kit-for-new-nx-platform-1444996588 So, all the juicy bits I put in the title. Another interesting tidbit is that "at least one mobile unit" can be linked to the console. If this is true, then the Nintendo Crossover theory was the right one; although, "industry-leading tech" spits in the face of the "weaker than the PS4" rumors, while at the same time sounding un-Nintendo like. The handheld better be able to be bought separately and at a $170-$200 price range.
