  1. Since around the second half of Jedi's Challenge Cup Tournament(congrats to Horace btw), I'd been throwing around the idea of hosting a VGC tournament sometime, but I figure why not do an interest check right now? Pokemon Showdown will be used for this tourney. A Showdown account is the easiest account you'll ever make if you haven't already. So what's VGC? The Video Game Championship format is a fast-paced battle format used for the VGC World Championship Series. Some of you may remember or have heard about when this happened in the 2014 World Championship. The VGC 2016 rules are: If you're like me and are most used single battles and are a bit weary of trying doubles, I highly recommend giving this a shot, it doesn't take long to adjust and it's a blast. If this format is intimidating at all, I recommend reading this: http://nuggetbridge.com/blogs/entry/1005-kasomans-vgc-16-teambuilding-guide-ver-10/ and/or practicing with one of these for starters, experimenting with your team as you get the hang of things. This would be a double elimination tourney, best of 3 and best of 5 for finals. I'm looking for a minimum of 16 participants, more can be added before the tournament starts if more people want to join. I don't have any deadline for this, so it would start shortly after getting enough participants. 1. DavidSW 2. Riptor 3. Honey Bunny 4. TrueEm 5. Emeraldfox 6. commie scum 7. DodgeDusk 8. blah the Prussian 9. Lord Gaius 10. Lord Graham 11. Jedi 12. Quintessence 13. 14. 15. 16.
  2. BRIEF INTRO So, some of you may know about Fire Emblem 7 Chaos Mode, a hack created by Klokinator fun fact, Klokinator's birthday was yesterday, which randomizes stats, weapons and growths, among other things. So, I played it some weeks ago, and I thought: ''Hey, I wonder how cool would it be if there was a Pokémon Chaos Mode!'' And since no one had the idea, I decided to do it myself. So, I started working on this some days ago, and since the last time I touched a hacking tool was MONTHS ago, I had to catch up and re-read some stuff, re-download some tools, etc... However, I think that this will be amazing when I complete it (and if I get my lazy ass to) SO, WHAT THE HELL IS THIS? This is a HackROM for Pokémon Emerald that randomizes a lot of stuff, including stats, ability and typing of a Pokémon, items scattered around the game, in-game trades, and a shitton of things that you'll discover as you play. The difficulty of the game has been GREATLY increased. This means that gym leaders, rivals (May/Brendan and Wally), the Elite Four, the admins of Team Aqua and Magma (Matt, Shelly and Tabitha. It seems you don't fight with Courtney in this game. Oh well.) and Archie and Maxie themselves, ALL of them, will have their AI and levels increased, and some of them will even have Full Restores when they are not supposed to. A lot of them will also have a smart choice of movesets according to their level, so they won't be stuck with 4 default attacks. No sir. There'll also be changes in move tutors, some dialogues, and some mechanics, among other things that I'll write below when I remember them! FEATURES! So, to avoid people who say ''yo bro for your information randomizers exist, stop doing this'' please READ this. Also note this section is subject to changes. [spoiler=Features] Green = Already done. Gold = Working on it! Red = Not yet implemented, and either not sure/too hard to implement. Characteristics of every single Pokémon will be random. (Stats, typing, abilities and movepool. Note that their stats will be changed, but their base total will remain the same, so they'll be distributed, leading to crazy things such as a slow Gengar! And yes, that crazy thing is in the hack. Oh boy.) Physical/Special split, like in 4 Gen games! The Pokémon you can encounter in every route are also randomized, as you can expect. Static and event Pokémon, such as the fossils or the legendaries, too! You can run indoors! Finally! Move tutors have been changed: They teach more useful movements, (most of them being of utility and not offensive) and EVERY Pokémon can learn them, which makes every Pokémon usable! Bad part is that they only teach it once. The starters will also form the Grass-Fire-Water triangle. Obviously, they're not Treecko, Torchic and Mudkip anymore! You receive the National Pokédex along with the normal one. You'll also receive 5 extra Pokéballs and 5 extra Potions! All important battles have been buffed. Generic trainers too, but in the final version, maybe. Trainers have their Pokémon randomized, except gym leaders and the Elite Four, which I'll change as I please. Shinies will be more frequent, meaning that you won't have to spend your entire life to find one! Speaking of gym leaders and Elite Four, they'll be REVERSED. Which means that Roxanne will change her spot with Drake, Brawly with Glacia, and so on. Of course, their levels will be corrected, so you don't have to fight against a Level 55 Drake! A bunch of hidden, side-battles that usually give a good reward. New trainer sprites and cameos. The access to the daycare will be blocked, so you can't breeze the game by leveling a Pokémon at the daycare. That means no breeding as well, but would you need it? Change to some dialogues. The Pokédex entry of a Pokémon will display a rating of it, like in FE7CM! Of course, that means changing like 365 entries, so It'll take some time. That ''hey, champion in the making!'' guy will give you a Fresh Water in every gym, like in Gen 5 games! All of the music will be replaced by HG/SS music! I'll do something to prevent HM Slaves. Some graphics will be changed. SCREENIES! [spoiler=Screenies] DOWNLOADS! Not quite yet. The first version will be released once I finish all the trainers and I change some dialogues. But it will come soon, I promise! OTHER THINGS! I don't know what to write here yet! Oh yeah, I regret losing that Jolly Gastly, because that's the best nature he can possibly get (edit: his best nature is actually Adamant), and I got it in the first try. IN A TEST RUN. WHY. HAVE FUN! ~
  3. Link to the Bracket: http://sforestsmash.challonge.com/PKMNChallenge Hey there, you may know me as, That guy who talks about smash way too much, or that prick who has some obnoxious opinions, or just generally, that cool dude.™, regardless of how you may know me or not, I have a tourney for you Pokemon folks. Link to Pokemon Showdown You will likely need this if you don't have it, ANYWAYS. Name of the game Challenge Cup! In the Challenge Cup, which you may know of if you're ancient like I am and have played Pokemon Stadium 2, is basically when you get assigned a completely random team, and in Smogons rulings, anything goes, the only clauses in effect are the "no doubles" and with SO SO many pokemon the chances of getting doubles are like insanely low. Smogon has some small things to add here which I will quote. Smogon Challenge Cup Format I however am not familiar with if Showdown does the 60-90 lvl thing, I'll have to check. I'm looking to make this double elimination, best of 3, except for finals which will be best of 5. However I forget if Showdown randomizes your team for every match, because that would be so amusing to have to play that many rounds with entirely different teams, this is up for discussion. I am looking for 16 victims for this insanity, if you feel like "Yeah Jedi I want to lose to the luck of the draw" or "Yeah Jedi I will totally invoke Joey's luck from Yugioh and win everything" then this is the right tourney for you. If I get more than 16 I will be extending the amount of people, and well this is an interest check so I'm not sure when it'll start for sure. If you people who compeitive Pokemon often would love to give me good rule ideas, instead of what I am thinking of doing PLEASE speak up. 1. Jedi 2. Riptor 3. CrystalPoke 4. Shin 5. DarkDestr0yer 6. Lord Gaius 7. Tsunami 8. General Horace 9. DavidSW 10. Anacybele 11. JSND 12. Quintessence 13. DodgeDusk 14. Nym 15. Dandragon 16 blah
  4. I felt the need to join in on the screenshot LP craze, so here I am. This won't have too many rules, and I'll try to get as much coverage of everything as I possibly can. I'll obviously get a lot of dialogue and important battles, and I can actually be at least a little informative if I need to considering how well I know Emerald. Anyway, I'm going to let you decide which Pokemon I use. Hoenn Dex only of course. I'm going to try to use GameShark to get a Murkrow as my one locked team member because Murkrow is bae. This won't be a randomized or anything though. This will start about 30 hours from now, but I just wanted to see what some people had in mind for team members before I actually started. and yes if you vote in Wurmple, I'll even use Wurmple
  5. I don't think we've seen discussions of headcanons, so I shall initiate this thread here. As Ron Burgandy of San Diego said, before we start, let's go over the ground-rules.... Anything Pokémon related is fair-game. Toys, anime, manga, and of course the games. However, I would like to ask everyone to not write headcanons that refers to Smash Brothers alone, because I am pretty sure that we have the Smash Brothers subforum for that. Headcanons that straddles Smash Brothers and, say, the Special Manga would be preferable. But of course, this is just my personal request. And of course, let's be good ladies, gentlemen, and proper sentinel Pokémon, and follow all the standard rules as set by the forum. And finally, no touching of the hair or face... And THAT'S IT!!!! Okay here goes mine: General stuff: Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, Sinnoh, and other places form the country of Shoyo, the Pokeverse version of Japan. Her capital is Yamabuki (Saffron) City. The Japanese original names are canon for people and cities, with some exceptions. Shoyo means "Rising Sun" and is written as "昇陽". Team Rocket is an ultranationalist terrorist organization, that hates the cosmopolitanism and de facto democracy of present-day Shoyo. They long to revive the Empire of Shoyo (大昇陽帝国). Unova and Orre are two of the states forming the United States of Columbia, the Pokeverse version of USA. Opelucid City is the state capital of Unova (just like how Albany is for NY), and the national capital is Washington DA, or District of America. The English dub names are canon. Lieutenant Matthias "Machisu" Surge hails from Virbank City, and initially worked in that Navy Base before being transferred to Kuchiba [Vermillion]. Kalos is a country, equivalent of France, and generally, the French names are canon. Fantina Melissa Morton (the Ghost-type Gym leader) is a coordinator from Los Arceus [Los Angeles], and she has a Kalosian mother who is a movie star. Team Flare is a Kalosian Fascist and chauvinist organization, who longs to resurrect the pre-WWII Kalosian Empire. And Lysandre's genocide policies makes Jean-Marie Le Pen look like a socialist progressive. Anime: Most of the movie locations in the Anime are actually the Pokémon equivalent of their inspired real-life places. Yes, Alto Mare is in Etruria [italy], Crown City or Kronenbrucht is in Flandaria [Netherlands] and so on. Why does Satoshi (Ash) travel to these places? Well after Wataru (Lance), head of the Shoyoese National Police (昇陽警察庁) heard about Satoshi's achievements in the first three movies, the former appointed the latter as a part-time assistant. Usually, Wataru would respond to distress calls from the ICPO, but when he is unavailable, Satoshi is sent in on Wataru's behalf. So why has Satoshi (Ash) fared better in Kalos? Well, he knows some Kalosian [French] to get around, due to his old friendship with Serena St-Yves, and also he has travelled to Europe a couple of times, and there's always someone who can speak Kalosian (which is an international language) or in rarer cases, Shoyoese [Japanese]. (Alamos Town from the Rise of Darkrai is based on Barcelona. Endioak Town from the Victini & Zekrom/Reshiram movie is based on one of the towns in France. Crown City and Alto Mare, see above.) And why did he screw up so badly in Unova? Partially because of his loss to that rigged Tobias that damaged Satoshi's self-esteem for a while, and he was a bit of a stepford smiler. Also his English isn't his forte. Speaking of Serena St-Yves, her father was sent to Shoyo as the High Ambassador of Kalos in Yamabuki City, and the family followed along. However, Grace didn't want to live the typical expatriate's life and insisted in living near Masara (Pallet) Town, living with the locals, and training her Rhyhorn. Bianca's father (being first-generation Etrurian-Columbian [italian-American]; see more in the Games section below) was initially overprotective of Bianca due to some close calls with Communist/Neo-Fascist terrorism that occurred when he was a kid. (There is a real-life counterpart to this.) Games: Why is Bianca's father even stricter in the games. His family was less fortunate during the game versions of the 1970s Etrurian years; he lost a brother and a grandfather in a terrorist attack back home in Etruria. And old nightmares...just don't die off that easily. Touko Hilda Shirase, and Touya Hilbert Kuroda (BW1 protagonists) are Niseis. Touko/Hilda even have Kotone (Lyra) as a cousin. There are a lot more that I've written about, but I'll just leave it here for the moment.
  6. http://shipping.bulbagarden.net/listaz.html I'll start with the name of Looker x Platinum Berlitz: IWantABabyShipping
  7. I just finished this game... and i'm laughing so hard right now! I wish I was kidding! besides the similar name the game also has wayyy too many similarities to fire emblem. you play as a "warlord" who controls a pokemon thingy in fields resembling fire emblem, along with your allies, who you happen to control. As the story goes on, you recruit unique characters with different pokemon and skills. You can change peoples default pokemon to ones they happen to have an affinity to (somewhat like emblem). The gameplay on the battlefield is fairly similar, only with one attack and no changeable weapons. there are some walkthroughs of it on youtube.
  8. Wondering if anyone here plays VGC or participates in the tournament circuit. If you do play, what are your thoughts on the current format and metagame? Which tournaments are you planning on going to?
  9. In Birthright there are two characters, Kaden and Selkie, who are Kitsune and can be promoted to a Nine-Tails. Am I the only one who noticed that the transformed state looks an awful lot like a certain Pokemon who goes by the same name? I looked it up as well as looked around here to try and figure out why Nintendo would go and do that. For some reason no one else has pointed it out. Have any of you guys noticed that Intelligent Systems included Were-Pokemon?
  10. New Pokemon games. Pokemon Moon and Pokemon Sun. Honestly, I didn't think they could milk from Digimon this much but this could be Pokemon's 7th Gen installment and maybe for NX. The information and exciting news was leaked during some files transferring of some sort.
  11. Europe: 4PM UK: 3PM North America (ET): 10AM North America (PT): 7AM Japan: 12AM (February 27th) European Twitch link North American Twitch link A Nintendo Direct that lasts 5 minutes. I wonder if short, franchise-based Nintendo Directs are the new format Directs are going to take. Kimishima has mentioned Directs are going to be different starting this year
  12. Dai

    Time for Gen VII

So, apparently, there's a silhouette for a brand new Pokemon. It's called Magiana, according to Serebii. Gotta say, if this is indeed true, I'm starting to wonder if we're going to get Pokemon Z or whatnot.
  13. Pokemon Volt White Nuzlocke Last year, I survived having my bollocks ripped off by Sacred Gold. Now I'm back, and one generation better. This time, I'm taking on Volt White, Drayano's hack of Pokemon White. Just like Sacred Gold, this hack allows you to catch every Pokemon that existed up to the generation, and boosts the challenge across the board. Will (Zekroms') lightning strike twice? Will I go down on fire? Tune in for what I hope will be another successful nuzlocke, with far less grinding than the last. [spoiler=Rule] - Any Pokémon that faints is considered dead, and must be released. - The player may only catch the first Pokémon encountered in each area, and none else. If the first Pokémon encountered faints or flees, there are no second chances. - Must nickname every Pokémon. - A black out/white out is considered to be "game over", even if there are Pokémon left in the PC. - Species/Dupes Clause: Adjusting the first encounter rule to prevent the player from having to catch multiple of the same Pokémon, for the sake of variety. Generally this means that the trainer can keep fighting Pokémon in the area until one is encountered that has not been caught yet, which then immediately counts as the first encounter. - If the player runs into a Shiny Pokémon, the player may still catch it, regardless of whether or not itis the first encounter in the area. - No legendary captures. In this hack, it's possible to encounter them in the grass. If that happens, I'll run and re-encounter. - Due to the supposed difficulty of the hack. All gift Pokemon will be accepted. This rule may change if people disagree with it - Outside and Inside areas will be consider separate from each other in regards to encounters (So I can get encounters inside and outside of Pinwheel Forest). - If I get an encounter in dark grass (wild doubles), I get to choose which I catch. Prologue [spoiler=Prologue] Half black, half white. The ultimate MJ fan! I know this is Pokemon White, but I wasn't expecting to heil Hitler so soon. Oh, Drayano's a woman now. I've seen this before, all Pokemon... new challenges, Have fun. Can I have a Skill Link Minccino please? You know, Black and White have one of the best female trainers, but I'll not undergo the change just yet. No originality. Here's a squad of adorable ragamuffins, except Cheren. You know, I don't think I've ever played in any season other than Autumn or Winter. Yes! And then, we'll be free of this go nowhere hamlet. I hope I get a Garchomp. Well, I'll take yours if you don't want it. I need all the fodder I can get my hands on. THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT! I know the drill. I'll be needing them though. Well, I asked you lot which starter I should take. The winner was... fucking memes. Aren't memes just so funny!? Haha! Memes! Okay. Snivy it is. Seriously? Someone likes Tepig? Fortunately, the Nuzlocke doesn't start until I get my balls. So I don't need to worry about using... except my pride. First battle! I think Snivy must have missed, and hit her instead. Fine work. On the contrary. An easy victory. Yeah, I'm not going be using this room anymore. Cheren awakens his psychic powers! Cheren won't fall for Snivys trickery. Dang! His actually pretty good. Time to cool off, Cheren. Now we're talking. And those are the first battles. We almost got thrash there. And yet the Wii survived. You know, getting the bike like this makes more sense than in the actual game. Ah! The sun! It's blinding me! Thanks. Where at NASA do you work? And now I've stepped into a soap opera. Those aren't her real parents, and it's the mum who dun it. Why. We've already got our Pokemon. I don't need anything else. Well, Lady Dray, it's in the rules. You're best off leaving that to Bianca. Now, let's see our first companion, who I suspect won't last as long as Verdante did. Oh yeah! Hail to the chief! On the other hand, he won't be getting Leaf Storm for a long, long time. One day, you'll read about me in the news: Boy Found Mauled in Ditch. Next time, I'll get my Patrat, Lilipup, or Rattata. How thrilling! Which one will it be!?
  14. My curiosity was recently sparked when on another discussion and I just wanted to know what you all think about the different Pokemon Generations (and share mine as well)!
  15. Hello everybody! I had another topic for all of my LPs but that sorta just died, so I'm posting this here. It's the newest LP of a crazy good ROM hack that got hack of the year 2015 on Pokecommunity. Here it is! Pokemon Gaia! Here's Episode 1! Here's the playlist, too! Current Episode:
  16. ...known as Pocket Monster Saphire (yes, spelled like that). Have you ever wanted to see Pikachu fight for his friends? Check this out. Also, one of the songs in this game (not shown in the video) sound like a slow version of the first part of Beneath the Sky from Binding Blade.
  17. What is yours? Mine has and always will be Torchic, not only because Blaziken looks the coolest and has the best moveset, but also because (as far as I know), Torchic is the only one capable of completing a Solo No Random Battles (except to recruit a flier/diver + Zigzagoon) challenge.
  18. I've always maintained that the Pokémon series took a dive after Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald (with varying degrees of responses from my friend group), not only because of the immense number of new Pokémon, but the clear negligence that has been made in their designs. So which Pokémon do you think has the stupidest name and/or sucks the most? For me, I would go with Sawsbuck, but I'd like to hear what you guys think!
  19. Surely I'm not the only person excited by this.
  20. U - what a mischievous little girl Mi - it's better than being an immature nincompoop ! - Emilia Okie okie Pick your favoritesss ~ Turn up the list ~ ~ Sylveon ~7% KAWAIIIIIII ~ Jirachi ~ 6% Adowaaaaable Vulpix ~ Eevee ~ 5% Flufffffyyy Shaymin ~ Delcatty ~ 4% Ellephant Cinccino Pachirisu Jigglypuff Skitty Pikachu Glaceon Floette Plusle Lillipup
  21. As some know,Daylight savings time has ended in some countries (I wish for good, but alas),and my OR is somewhat acting strange.Whenever I try to fight someone in their secret base,it keeps telling me to come tomorrow. The Mirage Island hasn't switched, either. It's been like this for a couple days.I've tried everything from switching the date from yesterday back, setting the hour ahead, but it keeps doing that.Should I just hope that there will be an update to possibly fix this,or what?
  22. ... Will likely not be starring in this game. Pokemon Yellow Randomised Nuzlocke I'm back again, my sweet treats. I did say, after my Sacred Gold victory, that I'd return with another game. I know it's been longer than I was hoping, but I'm finally here. This time, I'll be doing a nuzlocke of the first Pokemon game I ever owned; Pokemon Yellow. There's a twist though, and that's the randomiser, which will ensure some interesting sights and battles. Because it's the yellow version, I won't get the choose my starter; what I get is what I play with. Will I win another nuzlocke, or will that Pikachu bend me over and make call him daddy? The Rules 1: Any Pokémon that faints is considered dead, and must be released. 2: The player may only catch the first Pokémon encountered in each area, and none else. If the first Pokémon encountered faints or flees, there are no second chances. 3: Must nickname every Pokémon. 4: A black out/white out is considered to be "game over", even if there are Pokémon left in the PC. 5: Species/Dupes Clause. 6: Gift Pokemon can be accepted, but they count as the single encounter for that area. 7: Interact Pokemon (like Snorlax) count as the encounter for the area. 8: Battles must in be set mode. 9: Nuzlocke doesn't start until I have Pokeballs. Episode One: A Star is Born [spoiler=Episode One] Hello, old friend. A warm welcome to you, too. Only that middle egg is ready for battle. Dang straight. Lower case. I'm no shouty tosser. I mucked up in the Sacred Gold playthough. This time, I'll make no mistakes. Oak, you dirty ol' dog. Enough of this prattle. It's time to get into the game. I think I had an N64 when I first got this game. No matter. I did have Snes, too. There should be an item in this PC. I randomised items as well, so lets see what I got. Nevermind. Time to start the adventure. The music. I love this old Gameboy music. It makes me feel young again. That's right. What awaits me on this new journey? Shades of Naxxramas by the sounds of it. Time to get my Pokemon. Yes, it lets me pirate old Gameboy classics. Here we are. It's time to say hello to Nobface. Aww hello. No! That Pokemon is mine! Remove your phallus visage from my sight! I don't need him. I'll just hunt down my own Pokemon. With my bear hands! Hey, old pal, 'bout time you showed up. But we aren't out of the woods... or grass just yet. Here we go! Who's it going to be? ... ... ... I wasn't expecting that. Evolvable by Celadon, with a good typing. I think I'll get along well with you, little Staryu. Well, we are close to the sea here. So I guess that Staryu makes some sense. "Back to the studio." Ooooooo! Someone needs a Burn Heal. Let's get this formality out of the way. We all know how this is going down, ol' buddy. I hope that you'll be the one in the bin very soon, erection head. No sweat, Oak... just give me that Staryu. Oh yeah. I still have regrets over the Staryu I caught into Sacred Gold. Damn that Weezing and its critical Thunder. This time, things will be different. Me and Lazuli here are going to have a grand old time of it. I'm feeling lucky. And ready to offer some payback. [spoiler=Episode One: Vs Rival] Yeah yeah... lets see what lame Pokemon you got. Just look at penis cranium here. So smug. ... Okay. Shades for me. When does Staryu learn Water Gun again? You had to just rub in it in, didn't you. You cheesey, dastardly dick-nose. This doesn't count because I don't have any Pokeballs yet. Yeah... I think I'll skip our next battle. You'll be waiting a while before you can smell me. And there you have it, folks. It feels good to be back, and I hope for another victory in the nuzlocke challenge. I hope that you also enjoy this playthrough.
  23. All I wanted to find was a simple Piplup, but most are put up for Mew or Arceus (the latter which cannot be traded if it's not Japanese, because it was event only. And I doubt Japanese people want to trade their Arceus for a baby penguin). That's basically the entire GTS as well.Sometimes, you get decent offers to pop up,but otherwise it's easier to put up a version exclusive if you want something simple like a starter.I miss what it was like in the early days of Diamond,Pearl and Platinum, where I was able to get some good Pokemon for decent trades.
