  1. Any sprites you ever spent a lot of time on, only to look back at the end and see that something's off about the whole thing? I have some sprites I spend a ton of time on, but ended up as flaming dumpster fires. Spent three hours on the first one.
  2. So I don't know if this has already been mentioned anywhere, and I might be late on picking it up anyway, but I noticed that Winter Robin's Sprite is actually slightly different from regular Male Robin's sprite. Well, the heads anyway, the clothes are obviously different. It's the same general design for the heads, but there's definitely difference if you look closely. M!Robin's hair is sharper than W!Robin's hair (That's the best way to describe it). It's a minor difference, but I thought it was interesting. There's also the fact that art for W!Robin and W!Tharja had been found in the game's files when Heroes was first released, so I guess IS decided to use the sprites they already had instead of making new ones. So with all that in mind, are there any other slightly altered sprites of the same character in the same vein as Robin? Or is it just him?
  3. I spent an hour or two making this sprite (basically had to draw half of the hair myself, since it didn't look right) and my biggest issue is that his eyes look weird. I've tried everything to fix them, but I just can't get them to look, well, not creepy. I studied Canas for a while to see if I could sprite glasses correctly, and while I think it looks better than the last time I tried it, I think I could improve those as well. But right now my biggest problem is the eyes. They look kinda uncanny. Bigger pic added.
  4. Hello everyone! So I've recently thought of making some sprites and I had the idea of posting them, so everyone can use. I'll try posting atleast once per week. Here are all the item sprites sprites till now ;
  5. Hello everyone! I had the idea of making a thread in which I post my "content" I've started by remaking some old portraits of mine, when I first started making them. I just need the palette and the hair done. wip.
  6. Sprites you didn't think were going to look very good when you started working on them, but actually was really impressed by the final results? I have one right here that I did not think was going to look good, but I ended up being really happy with it. Was designing kids of the Sacred Stones cast for a mod, and I was doing L'Arachel's son. Didn't think he'd end up so good, but the colors ended up looking really on point imo. What sprites were you making that exceeded expectations? I wanna get a good look at everyone's work.
  7. Hey, I need a few sprites for a fan game I'm working on, anyone who can help please get in touch/reply. Here's a list of sprites needed. (The game is from the GBA era so GBA sprites only please!!!) 5 Lord Sprites, one modelled after an archer, light mage, mercenary, pirate, sage, and wolf. A reworking of the wolf sprites from FE8. Thunder, Wind, Fire, Light and Dark Mage, Sage, Archsage. Lancer. Marshall. Trueblade. Custom sprite that looks like Diviner/Onmyoji. Custom sprite that looks like Arcanist/Cantor. Custom sprites that look like Ninja, Master Ninja and Whisper. Strageist/New Valkyrie. Medic, Doctor and Nurse. Damsel/Consort Reaver. Hunter, Clawman, Ripper. Saint Anyone who is able to help I will be greatful to, and will be mentioned in games ending credits. Also if your intrested in the game, or able to help in any other way/know anyone who can, the check out my topic in concepts, Fire Emblem Tales of the Stones. https://serenesforest.net/forums/index.php?/topic/83172-fire-emblem-tales-of-the-stones/&page=2&tab=comments#comment-5206094
  8. I crave attention and validation. Welcome to the alter of my obsession. Stills (yet to be animated or sheeted) Mugs (not my bread and butter) GIF animations (I love this stuff) Thanks for... Looking I guess.
  9. Hi, after creating a DeviantArt account (https://garretgreybird.deviantart.com/) and posting this on the German Fire Emblem Forum I decided to go ahead and post these here to. I am quite new to Spriting but decided to go ahead and try to make some own Sprites. I started with enhancing the resolution of Ephraim's normal attack: Afterwards, I went ahead and made my first own Animation in this higher resolution with a character where I only had to move the arms and not the body: But I recently only got time in the evenings so I decided to go with the "easier" normal FE style. The first one was inspired by John Constantine and used Lylods sprite as a basis for him. the two first pics are my ideas for his idle pose, while the third one is the first sketch for his first keyframe. This is my try to create Ryougi Shiki (Saber version) from The Fate/Grand Order in an FE style. Her Basis was some bishop sprite (Think it was Arthur). The first two pictures are her idle with and without a weapon, while the last one is my first try on the first keyframe (still not happy with it, needs a different angle). These two are Ryougi Shiki (Assasin version), which is just a rather minor edit to some female Rouge. the second sprite is my first try on Artoria (from Fate as well), with a mix of druid and mercenary as a basis. Now, this last one is the one I am currently trying to animate. It is Mordred (again, from Fate) and I got one version with and without helmet, as well as the first keyframe, which I am currently trying to connect with the idle pose. I would really appreciate some feedback to any of these sprites.
  10. I know that there are multiple topics on this issue, but I've read all of them and am still hopelessly confused. I'm really new to FE hacking(this is literally my first attempt at doing anything outside of basic nightmare editor) and was going through Blazer's ultimate tutorial(http://www.feshrine.net/ultimatetutorial/) when I got very stuck on the custom animation part. I made a frame called standing.png and then copied Blazer's default script(below if you want to see it) to try and test it. It came up with the error " Unexpected error reading or loading the script." I can't figure out what's wrong with it, I'm assuming it's something wrong with my sprite since I'm using Blazer's script, but I have no clue what the issue is. The image is 248x160, I used Usenti and made sure it only had 16 colors, which I put into an 8x2 palette in the top right, and there's only one file so it shouldn't be an issue with mixed up palettes. I'm so confused and just really need help.
  11. So I'm trying to get back into spriting and am therefore trying to get the hang of making portrait hackboxes. These are sprites I made today with their attempts at a hackboxes. EDIT: The Ike sprite does use a portrait made by NickT. I am under the impression that its free to use, but am adding this not here so people don't think I'm plagiarizing or something. These are sprites I made about a year ago, and would like to turn into hackboxes but haven't yet. Any advice is appreciated.
  12. Here it is... It uses Gilliams body, Tirado's head, I could not find the name of the hair for the life of me, but it was part of the fe8 mug spritesheet, Garcia's hair color, and the red from Amelia's armor. He's a knight dude. Please critique this! (I'm going away on he 26th, so that's why I won't be able to post)
  13. Edited this one a bit. Hope she looks better. Two New Sprites of mine. (Personal on the left, gift for my brother on the right.) one of my first animations ever. I'm pretty proud of it. (Will soon be spoiler tagged, just gotta figure out how to do it)
  14. A bunch of old mugs. Pretty basic splicing. Matthew base is waaay too obvious on these. Would probably change the face if I ever felt like redoing them which I don't. The chin is very off. I don't quite know how I would fix those. Eh, decent. Plain. Boring. Orson hair curl. These are alright, if basic.
  15. I've always loved the GBA battle animations, and I recently got into making my own. This is my attempt at making Fates' Royal families, Someones probably done this better before but I thought I'd take a crack at it. I've completed the 4 Nohrian siblings and almost all of the Hoshidians except for Ryoma due to his weird faceplate. First I did Everyone's favorite cinnamon roll; Elise! Heal Animation: I had some trouble with the hair at first simply because of how bizarre her pigtails are, I ended up using a modified version of Rebecca. Next on the list was; Leo Basic Anima Attack: Anima Crit: I'm thinking about trying to make a sword animation for him, I definitely want to give him a special Brynhildr animation. The Most difficult thing about making Leo was that I couldn't find Male battle animations only sheets, so I just took Selena's battle animations and copy/pasted Ewan's hair onto her Skipping a sibling I actually did Xander next, due to Camilla's... unique character design. Basic Sword Attack: Sword Crit: It was fun to make a paladin without a helmet, it always seemed weird to me that Seth has a helmet when fighting but not in his portrait. I'd also like to come back to Xander to give him a fancy ranged attack when using Siegfried. Next we have Camilla: Basic Lance attack: Lance Crit: Sorry if anyones disappointed by a serious lack of something (she's not using an axe.) But i'm still learning and I don't think a more accurate design is something I can do, I took the face and hair of a pegasus night and changed it up a bit to fit a Wyvern lord. Moving on to the Hoshidians My first is; Hinoka: Basic lance attack: Lance Crit: Hinoka was a fairly easy color swap. Sakura: She was probably the quickest and easiest. And last one (for now) Takumi: With Takumi I decided to have separate animations for when he has his Yumi equipped vs other bows Regular Bow Attack: Bow Crit: The hardest part with Takumi was his pineapple hair I ended up using his actual map sprite from fates to give me a better idea. Fujin Yumi Attack: Fujin Yumi Crit: When he's using the Fujin Yumi I changed it so his bow is gold, the bowstring only appears when he's firing and has a cool "disintegrate" affect to it. In his crit the symbol is meant to be the Japanese word for storm, which is part of the names of the Japanese gods takumi and ryoma are based off of (Fujin of wind, and Raijin of thunder/lightning) I'm unsure if it really fits though, I'm considering making similar ones for the other princes, any ideas for those would be great! Any constructive critisism would be super awesome as i'm pretty new to animating as well as this forum so if you have any tips send them my way. I'm gonna go do more animating Thanks for reading all this stuffXD These animations were modified using a free internet software I found called piskelapp you don't have to download anything except whatever animations your changing. If you want to use these for something feel free! Please Credit me if possible (and send me a link please!)
  16. So I took the feedback from my last post and took the time to make a second group of sprites Sprite 1 Sprite 2 Sprite 3 Sprite 4 All feedback is good feedback, thanks in advance.
  17. Listen up, scrubs! This is a tutorial for making palette templates for FERecolor, that is to say, for making palettes for classes that don't come packaged with FERecolor (e.g. monsters), or any custom, fan-made class. Though I find this to be mostly self-intuitive, I'd understand if someone finds it difficult, as there is no tutorial on this anyway. What you'll need for this other than FERecolor is Usenti and Paint. And if you need rip the animations from the games, you will need Feditor Adv Render Edition. Step 1: The Sheet. First thing you need to do is get your sheet. Let's take for example the zombie. Gather a few frames of your desired animation on a new file in paint and then save it in the "battle_sprites" folder in FERecolor. Keep in mind that having more than 1 sprite is not absolutely necessary, but it's nice. Step 2: FERecolor. Now you are ready to open it in FERecolor, so well... Open it in FERecolor. So now you can edit the colours by changing the number on the RGB scale. So we're ready now, right? Not quite yet. See all those numbers on the far right hand side, each accompanied by a "Reset" button? That's the colour's index. What's that, you say? Well, editing the colours is not enough because each colour has to be at the right index, in other words, it has to be in the right position, otherwise you'll get a messed up palette when you insert it. To find out how to learn each colour's correct index, join me in Step 3. Step 3: Making the Palette Index. So now, open up the Feditor-processed sheet in Usenti (Not Paint, Usenti) and look at the palette. Let's have a closer look. The game has this system where it reads the palette from right to left, (kind of like how Arabic reads). There, I conveniently numbered them for you! And so now, all you have to do is number the colours in FERecolor. And boom! That's it. You're good to go. Now, in order to insert the palette itself, press that "Copy hex to clipboard" button and check out this tutorial. Now on a side note, while in the middle of making this tutorial, I was informed by my friend and fellow palette scholar Teraspark from FEUniverse that there is an alternate, simpler way to do this, which some of you might find easier, so I decided to keep both methods just in case. Alternate method: Step 1: Take your sheet and open it in either paint or usenti, and make sure it has the palette inside it. Step 2: Now take the palette and flip it horizontally so that the black is looking to the right. Then, take the 2nd row and place it to the right of the first row. It should look like this: Just make sure that the palette is parallel both horizontally and vertically to any other pixel, like in the image below: Step 3: Now just open it in FERecolor and the program will automatically sense the correct palette index! Isn't that convenient. And it works equally well, too! Admittedly this is the first tutorial I've ever done, so some feedback is appreciated, and I hope this was helpful. Happy hacking! ; ]
  18. So, I'm wondering how to go about defining which battle and map sprites are associated with a given class. I'm trying to add in a female Knight to the Sum Patch to go along with female Generals, going into the "female Dismounted Knight" class slot. I've copied all the information over from the male Knight class (save for Class ID), and even set it to promote into the female General. The problem is, I have absolutely no idea how to go about setting which sprites the class uses, on the map or in battle. It appears to use the female General sprite in battle—at least, that's what shows up in the battle sprite box when the class is highlighted to be reclassed into—but it has no defined map sprite, and the game crashes when you try to back out into the main reclass menu after changing a character into it. Ideally, I would just set it to call the exact same files the male Knight uses for its battle and map sprites, but I don't know how to actually do that, or even if it's possible. I know Arch ported the female Cavalier and General classes back into Shadow Dragon, graphics and all, but I don't know what process he used to get the graphic importation and association working. If anyone knows how to do this, I'd greatly appreciate your wisdom! …As an addendum, does anybody know if Soldiers in Shadow Dragon are flagged as being able to reach level 30, like other single-tier classes? I can't seem to find any conclusive answer to that.
  19. This thread is for all of the sprites I will make. I'm hoping that I'll be able to get some criticism on them. I currently only have a portrait to show off, aside from my avatar, unfortunately. I would have more, but this one took me about a week for me to make this, and I'm anxious to see what people think of it. I will add more sprites to the thread later. I'm sure that even though I think it looks beautiful, many more professional artists could easily pick out its flaws.
  20. Hey guys :) it has been a long (emphasis on the long) time since I've done any spriting in the FE Style, so here I am posting all the content I'm making and I would love to see the feedback. Izuku Midoriya (Alias: Deku | Class: Fighter) Naruto Uzumaki (Class: Jonin (Similar to a Mercenary) > Class: Hokage (Similar to a Hero/Promoted Lord) Next: Sasuke Uchiha (Class: Rogue (Similar to a Myrmidon) > Class: Wanderer (Similar to a Swordmaster/Promoted Lord)
  21. So I recently made these sprites and I just wanted some feedback on them to see how good or not so good they are. Image 1 Image 2 Image 3 Thanks all feedback is appreciated.
  22. So, I've made my second custom gba mugshot, but I don't really like the way the armor looks. Anyone got any tips? Feel free to express your opinion, I'll only hate you slightly.
  23. I always loved the battle sprites in the old GBA FE so I thought I'd try making my own, I haven't made any "new" ones yet but for my first; Edit: I think I screwed up with the links is it making you guys download them? cause thats not supposed to happen (sorry new to this forum) I started with modifying the female sage basic battle animation to remove the cape: FE Female Sage animation without a cape.-20170807-142956.piskel And then I did my best to make it look like princess zelda from legend of zelda, FE Female Sage Princess Zelda-20170807-142640.piskel I'm sure someone has done this before but I thought i'd try it. Any constructive criticism would be awesome! Thanks!
  24. FOR THOSE OF YOU STOPPING BY FROM THE FUTURE TO TAKE A GANDER: Some of the images in the first few pages, back when I still used Imageshack for uploading, are now broken. HOWEVER, FRET NOT! If you wish to view them, right-click on the image, click "Inspect Element", then right-click on the image link that pops up on the right and click "Open in New Tab." As far as I have tested, this allows you to view the image. If it doesn't work, then you're outta luck, I suppose. *Shrug* ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Seeing as how my old sprite topic is deader than a doornail, I feel like starting over, so to speak, with a clean slate. This time around, though, I'll be posting less exclusively FE sprites and more other styles of sprites. Anyway, sprites, in no particular order: Part of a series of sprites in a custom style where I sprite 100 of my favorite characters from my favorites games and franchises, with the stipulation of one character per game. Let's see if I can actually do it. A few FE-battle-styled sprites that I've made some time in the past year or so. A few Nintendo characters in ML3 style. The result of boredom and random scribbles in Paint. Another boredom piece from a while back. Also an experiment with limited colors on the mushroom; the grassy knoll came later. A custom style inspired by 8-bit graphics, though itself isn't. And a few maps: That should be enough for now. Comments and criticisms are always welcome.
  25. First time splicing, recolouring, and generally messing about. First attempt below. I'm sure this post'll be edited as I come out with more stuff. Any critiques are appreciated!
