  2. Welcome to Waifu/Husbando mafia! First a word from our sponsors: Now I know that was a great video, very informative but now let's move on to the important things! First off the rules! Rules: (Prims set) - I'm the mod and my word is final. Don't do anything that you expect will annoy me, even if it's not in the rules. This includes looking for loopholes. - No Outside Contact, keep the talking to the game thread unless your role allows otherwise. - Don't directly intefere with the game if you're dead or not playing - if you're going to talk to other players or post in-thread I expect everything you say to have no game relevance whatsoever. Also, do not talk about the game to other players (dead or living) while deceased unless both of you have received a link to the graveyard quicktopic. The graveyard will contain a list of players who have access to it in the OP. - Don't directly quote communications with the mod unless given permission. This includes your Role PM. - Going 24 hours without a post nets you a prod. Going 48 hours without a post or receiving too many prods is likely to result in a modkill. - Don't screenshot anything outside the game thread. - Don't edit your posts. - Don't post after hammer. - If you get yourself modkilled, you lose the game and your alignment may be subject to further punishment to circumvent any advantage your death could result in. - Have good integrity. This includes not being a jerk. - Play to win. Mechanics: - Day 1 start. - Day 1 will be 72 hours, day 2 and onwards will be 48 hours long. Nights are 24 hours all the time. Night phases can potentially end early if all actions have been submitted. - Lynches on Day 1 are determined by popular vote: the player with the most votes at phase end will be lynched. A tie will result in an extra 1-hour Super Sudden Death phase, at which point the first player to have more votes will be lynched. If nobody is lynched in that time period, No Majority will be reached. If a player reaches majority (half living players rounded down + 1) at any point in the day, they will be lynched early and the phase will end. - Lynches past Day 2 are determined by majority rules: Majority (half living players rounded down + 1) is required to be voting for a player for a lynch to be acheived. Failing to reach Majority results in the phase ending in No Majority. - Once Majority has been reached hammer will apply and the phase will end. - No Majority results in a No Lynch the first time, and a universal loss the second. No Lynch may not be voted. - You will be told whether your action failed or not, but not what caused it to fail (as a general note, this accounts for stuff like roleblocker / safeguard / etc., a kill attempt that failed because the target was protected by a doctor will still be considered successful). You will also be told if your action was redirected. - Killing roles get infinite no-kills. - LYLO and MYLO will be announced. Whether a loss is potential or guaranteed will not be. - There is also one more new mechanic that is being added into the game but it will have it's own section entirely. Look down for more info on this. It is called "My waifu isn't trash." Set-up info: - All players are on the player list. - All players have a role. Roles may be wacky and/or slightly bastard. - Players may request that any theoretical anonymous day actions be used at a specific time in advance for whatever reason (not wanting to be caught on the online list, not being available when they need to use it, etc). - Cardflips will contain a pretty picture, player name, character name, alignment & role name and phase of death. Cardflips will also never lie to you, but they might not describe a player's role in detail. - If your role PM doesn't say you can self-target, you can't. - Flavor is irrelevant to alignment. - The town win condition is: "You are aligned with the Holy Order. You win when all threats to the Holy Order are Eliminated." - The anony account you are playing on WILL BE NAMED AFTER WHOEVER YOU PICK FOR YOUR ROLE. IS YOUR WAIFU TRASH? Hopefully no. My waifu isn't trash: (Game specific mechanic) - This is a second voting mechanic in the game. - This is basically a popularity contest. Who's the best Waifu or Husbando? - All votes must be done in private; via your Role PM. - Votals will NOT be revealed; barring role mechanics which could potentially reveal them. - Since obviously everyone thinks they are the best, voting yourself is not allowed(unless your role pm states you can). - The player with the most votes at the end of the phase will get some special added benefit for that night only. - This action can change based on role/alignment. - This benefit can include but is not limited to: Motivate, Self doc, 1x announce, 1x self watch, strongarm, ninja, janitor, 1x track, 1x role cop, etc. The list goes on and not everything will be listed here but this is just for people to have an example of what the person with the most votes can get. - Now because all Waifu's and Husbando's are fair beings, after winning the award you will not be eligible for the award for the following TWO day phases. - Example: Player A wins the award day 1. They cannot win again until Day 4. They can however be voted still which means if they potentially 'win' the award on day 2 or 3, nothing happens. This is a Choose Your Own Role game! PM me a character Living or fictional humanoid being that can qualify as a waifu or husbando. No trolling. I will decline anything that does not at least fit the bare minimum requirements. Your flavor and Role will be based around what you send me (To an extent.) This is an anonymous game. To sign up, PM me or message me on Discord. DO NOT POST IN THIS THREAD UNTIL I GIVE THE OKAY. This game will NOT start until at least 1 week after all signs up have been filled. If possible I would like to start this game before August 31st though. Current sign ups: (First come first serve; anything after 15 will be subs) (If you would like to sub just message me that you are willing to sub should someone drop out.) 15/15
  3. Please don't ignore this thread.~ You must teach Little Elegant Elle !~ <3
  4. I'd like this thread to be a place for HxH fans, or even haters, to gather and discuss the show and the individual episodes in a civilized manner. Also, don't mention manga related events please, as, while I myself do read it, some of us might not , and would prefer not to be spoiled on the coming events. If you really must, write it in a spoiler tag, and write a warning above the spoiler button. Discussion topics may range from any arc to individual episode, be it episode 1 or 130. As such, I'd like to start by writing a short opinion on the latest episode, episode 138. The episode starts with Ging talking about his motives, or rather, giving a vague answer on it. He was shown to be a calculative character so far, going by the plan with which he predicted the actions of the Zodiacs in the last episode. "Everything according to plan" is a rather silly trope, but Ging managed to keep it slightly believable at least. But anyways, he himself doesn't care about the position of chairman, all he wants is to pay respect to Netero's last will, by making his target move the way he wants to, implying he has someone in sight who he'd want to become chairman. Afterwards, we go back to the table where the Zodiacs sit at. And Pariston brings up a point I wondered about myself: that at least that short guy, and possibly some other zodiacs too, are idiots, which makes me wonder how got their rank in the first place. A zodiac, i.e. a Hunter among the best of the best, should be both smart and strong, not just the latter. Pariston however is more of an interesting guy. We know next to nothing about him, only that he behaves like a nice and charming man, but in actuality is quite sneaky and manipulative. Otherwise, the zodiacs wouldn't fear him, nor would Beans wonder about Netero's decision of making him vice chairman. And that is another interesting point, why would Netero have chosen Pariston as his vice? Surely not only to be entertained. Such hints that Pariston might actually be a good leader, or a worthy successor to Netero, despite his sneaky nature. By that I mean a leader who'd actually pay attention to his subordinates. Moving on, we come to the most important parts of the episode, Killua meeting his own family again. Thanks to his training, he managed to upen up 5 doors of his mansion, whereas before that he could only open up 2 or 3 IIRC. Then we see him meeting his father, talking about a yet unintroduced sister, Alluka. Silva mentions how she isn't human, angering Killua. Such already should be warning enough, as even the most fearful Nen users aren't refered to as inhumane. Alluka's power is quite an interesting one, even if cliche. Ofc, one may argue that such an almighty power is unnerving and unnecessary, HxH did a good job by countering the benefits of her power with an equally destructive drawback. The requests made by Alluka will be proportional to the last wish made, meaning that if Alluka grants an incredible wish, the person receiving the requests from her afterwards will have literally no chance to survive. Killua refers to it as equivalent exchange, and that term is perfectly fitting for the situation. Although, there is one thing that bothers me with the whole Alluka thing. Ofc, Killua's wish will be to remove the limitations Gon set to himself, to save his live. There are two problems with this: The first one is that saving Gon like that is a cop-out. Alluka's character was handled well so far, and she has a highly intriguing power, but if combined with Gon she quickly turns into a plot device to make Gon's sacrifice undone again. As such, one may compare it to the Dragon Balls. Secondly, the wish to save Gon is a ginormous one. In fact, I don't believe the millionaire wish can even remotely compare to it, as the wish to save Gon defies a terribly powerful limitation set to himself, and defies the concept of death itself in a way. Were Alluka to ask requests to someone after saving Gon, not only would these requests be absolutely impossible to fulfill, after denying 4 requests over a 100 people may have to die. Killua is surely aware of that, yet he decides to go through with it. And while it shows his loyalty for Gon, it is still a morally questionable course of action. All in all, the episode had a lot of interesting moments, and while I am nitpicking at some details, that is only because of my devotion to the series. Due to it being so amazing in most parts, one can't help but notice some small flaws, as they become more apparent if compared to the rest. The imlications for the future might be worrying, but so far HxH never failed at excelling in execution.
  5. So like, i was reading a thread in Awakening board (scary, i know) and was talking to another member here about it. Theres like, this weird thing with Japanese games/stories and age. 30 seems to be considered rather ancient in JRPG Worlds. In FE13, we have Cherche declare she is too old for marriage but shes not really older than 25. Gregor appears to be almost 50 but theres a solid argument for him being closer to 30. Then theres Nowi... This just happens a lot in games. 17 year old protagonist is pretty much a norm. In quazi-medieval settings, this actually does work. Due to how lifespans worked in medieval society, a 17 year old is basically a grown-up. So Chrom in FE13 as a 19 year old (estimate) would be like, right at an ideal. But when we get to more modern settings like some FF games and Ace Attorney, and this is applied, it gets weird. Is this whole thing relative to Japanese culture perhaps? Cuz Western culture paints the prime as around 30. Weebs, help a god out here.
  6. At first glance,I loved the english voices, hearing that little quote with each cut-in was magical to me. Until of course I heard some of the character's English voices with a more open mind. I love Brady's English voices, i'll preach that all day and all night, most of Noire's english voices are impressive as well, the evil laugh is spot-on though. I heard the quotes over and over again, and, for most characters, the magic was leaving because I couldn't really get behind them, they are either not serious enough for my tastes, ie. Henry, or way too intent, ie. Fem MU voice 3 I believe. And then there was Morgan. My sweet little daughter shouldn't have the voice of a grown woman, it's just... When I pair her and Brady, because Brady is my son-in-law, I want to hear Brady's English voices, but Morgan will jump in with her 20 year old unfitting womanly voice and just rng breaking crit luckyness, and i'll be all, "oooh... Just, no... Morgan, shush, let Brady talk." Only Fem Morgan though, male Morgan I know far too little about to judge him. And that's why I use the Japanese voices, I may not understand them well, but I'm learning, and the japanese ones, in my opinion, sound a little bit cooler. But what about you? Which voices do you use?
