  1. Best Handheld: http://www.computerandvideogames.com/joystick/game.php?cat=handheld&id=6 Game of the Year: http://www.computerandvideogames.com/joystick/game.php?cat=goty&id=887 I figured I'd spread the word here.
  2. I have OCD. In my minmax file I happened to miss the Blessed Bow in Paralogue 3 because I was too focused on saving the villagers. I'm 20 hours into my file. This is bugging me. Part of me wants to shrug it off because it's just a Blessed Bow. Part of me wants to restart the file because of a fucking Blessed Bow. Do you feel the same when you miss a collectible in the game? Or do you simply not give a shit?
  3. I've avoided FE:A and all them newfangled remakes for quite some time, only playing GBA hacks and whatnot. Then I decided to buy it, and have been absorbed into the vortex that is FE:A. I am now some hours into the game and have just beaten "Hard" mode, and plan on entering into Lunatic mode with a female MU, asset Resistance, flaw HP, and need to plan the best team for Lunatic gameplay. Here are some rules I've set for myself: -Cannot play any DLC maps before Endgame besides The Golden Gaffe (Bullion grinding, woohoo). -Can only play through the main story, Paralogues, Reeking Boxes, and single instances of each Spotpass team before Endgame. -No egregious abuse of Reeking Boxes for mass level ups. -Cannot allow any characters to die (lolwat who would do that anyways). -Only use original characters, no DLC characters as role-fillers. Stuff I want to know: -Best pairings? Reasons optional and helpful. Subjective, but what isn't? Here's a convenient pre-made template, with fill-ins for the fathers: Female Avatar + Chrom = Lucina / Morgan Cherche + Gregor = Gerome Olivia + F = Inigo Lissa + F = Owain Maribelle + F = Brady Cordelia + F = Severa Sully + F = Kjelle Tharja + F = Noire Nowi + F = Nah Sumia + F = Cynthia Miriel + F = Laurent -Recruitment times for children. All I can remember from trawling the Internet was that Lucina is the first recruited child and comes in after chapter 12. Or 13. I am otherwise ignorant of the chapter limitations before children paralogues become available, since I hadn't established many romantic relationships throughout the progress of the game. -Class optimization. Perhaps a better question to answer is: What classes DON'T my characters need to become, on account of their skills being useless for that character/their child? I'm particularly interested in long-term benefits and can play around momentary setbacks (e.g: I would continuously Second Seal a character into unpromoted classes to farm stats and necessary skills, against the benefits of a promoted class with better combat survivability). Format I used: Donnel: Villager -> Mercenary -> Fighter -> Bow Knight -> Hero -> Warrior -Inheritance. Some people make the argument that children always inherit their parent's classes, save for gender-specific stuff, so you should pass that. On the other hand, some people say that certain gender-locked skills, like Counter, are situational and unhelpful to certain characters (Counter for tanky Kjelle). In general, what should the mother and father pass to their child? I've tended to lean towards the level 15 promoted unit skills (Pass>Lethality, Swordfaire>Astra, on the basis of minimizing the amount of time a character spends in the dinky classes of Assassin/Swordmaster). -Things to watch out for in Lunatic. Is anything different, aside from the stats and skills? Are certain skills less useful or necessary? Is what I've set down thus far inherently flawed? Thanks for helping, and for any helpful information!
  4. Well, I have made two gameplays lines for me: Fem!MU and Male!MU. Both started on normal difficult so i could get used to the game and pairing stuff. Now i'm playing both of them on hard difficult and I plan to make the Fem!MU (which i'm more used to) on the Lunnatic mode. With that explained, i'm asking for a couple of advises, you know. I'm aiming for Apotheosis DLC on normal difficult so...yeah Fem!MU Line Pairings: MUxChrom: MU is a Grandmaster, +LCK -DEF, Galeforce, Ignis, Solidarity, Veteran*, Relief* (I really want to trade those two, any tips?) ; Chrom is the usual Great Lord, all four basic skills, don't know which skill put as the fifith. Children: Lucina, Great Lord; Basic Skills plus Galeforce from MU; Morgan is a Grandmaster just like his mother; Rightful King, Solidarity, Galeforce, Ignis, Veteran* (same from the MU doubt) LissaxLon'qu: I saw somewhere that they produce a very good Owain (Stat speaking). Lissa final class is Sage. Skill list is Miracle, Healtouch, Relief, Tomefaire and Galeforce. I'm training Lon'qu to be an assassin (Lethality), he got all skills from Myrmidom and Swordmaster classes. Child: Owain went to the Assassin, Myrmidom skills, Astra and Galeforce. Don't really know how to work more. FrederickxOlivia: Olivia can kick Frederick's ass and that's funny. Olivia right now have Special Dance, Galeforce, Luck +4, Astra and Vantage and she is doing really great. Frederick on the other is giving me trouble, right now he is a Paladin, skills are Discipline, Outdoor Fighter, Defender, Luna and Dual Guard+. Child: Oh, Inigo. He is staying on Hero class. Armsthrift, Patience, Luna and Galeforce, soon he will get Sol. SullyxVaike: Vaike got Hero class, skills are HP+5, Zeal, Rally Strength, and Counter (I will get better skills for him). Sully went Great Knight, don't really know if will work out. Skills still are Discipline, Outdoor Fighter and Luna. Child: Blonde Kjelle hell yeah. Skill tree is Defense +2, Indoor Fighter, Luna and Counter. I really like her that way. Virion: Not worth a bride. StahlxCordelia: Stahl is a Paladin, exacly same skill tree as Frederick (Discipline, Outdoor Fighter, Defender, Luna and Dual Guard+.). Cordelia is doing perfect as a Hero. The only two skills I like in her are Galeforce and Sol. She still have Rally Movement, Speed+2 and Relief. Child:: Damn it Severa, I love you. Armsthrift, Patience, Luna, Galeforce. Hero Class. Damn it Severa, what's with that hair? MirielxRicken: Miriel is awesome, I really liker her, low defense and little HP on the beginning really are a pain in the neck. Right now she is a Sorcerer, Magic+2, Focus, Vengeance, Hex and Anathema. Ricken went to Great Knight to pass down Luna to Laurent (Don't know if it's a good or bad idea), Magic+2, Outdoor Fighter, Luna, Discipline and Focus. Child: Laurent is a perfect Dark Knight, for me it's his class. Magic+2, Focus, Vengeance and Luna. SumiaxHenry: Cute pairing btw. Sumia went Dark Flier to get Galeforce, skills are the basics: Speed +2, Relief, Rally Movement, Rally Speed. She is a Falcon Knight right now. Henry went to Dark Knight so he could pass Lifetaker to Cynthia. His stills are Hex, Anathema, Slow Burn and Lifetaker, he is an assassin so I can get Lethality. Child: Cynthia is a good daughter, I really want her to fulfill her Hero Dream and blah blah blah. So here, Galeforce and Lifetaker so you can kill two enemies in one round (And still get some HP). KellamxCherche: Not a pairing that I enjoyed, but saw on the internet universe that a good Gerome can come out of this. Kellam went Great Knight, skills: Defende+2, Indoor Fighter, Luna, Rally Defense and Pavise. Cherche (beautiful Cherche) stopped as a Wyvern Lord, Strenght+2, Tantivy, Deliverer, Lancebreaker and Renewal. Child: Gerome is handsome with dark hair. Strenght+2, Tantivy, Renewal and Luna. DonnelxNowi: The destruction pairing. Donnel has Underdog, Armsthrift, Aptitude, Patience and Sol. Like, Holly hell. Nowi has Odd Rhythm, Wyrsmbane, Slow Burn and Lifetaker. She finishes her job in an awesome speed. Child: Nah. Got Aptitude and Lifetaker. You go girl. MaribellexLibra: Maribelle is one of my favorite characters, but i don't really know how to use it. Resistance +2, Demoiselle, Galeforce, Speed+2, Relief is what I gave her. Libra went Dark Knight to end his class change, Healtouch (need to change), Miracle, Lifetaker, Rally Luck and Slow Burn. Child: Brady went Sage, healtouch, miracle, galeforce and lifetaker. Skill and Magic ftw. PannexGregor: Panne the taguel and Gregor the Human. I like it. Panne have Even Rhythm, Beastbane, Lancebreaker, Strenght+2 and Deliever. Gregor got to Swordmaster classes to get Astra, he already have Armsthrift, Patience and Sol. Child: I acctualy haven't used Yarne, but he got Sol and Lancebreaker so I think its ok? GaiusxTharja: Creepy lovely couple. Gaius have Locktouch, Movement+1, Pass and Lethality, should I give him something more? Precious Tharja has Hex, Anathema, Lifetaker, Vengeance and Tomebreaker, awesome Dark Knight. Child: Noir went full sniper. Skill+2, Prescience, Lethality and Lifetaker. Male!MU Line Pairings: 1th: MUxAnna: Made it on the previous save. Really enjoyed red-haired Morgan and I love Anna. 2th: MUxTiki: The Mar-Mar thing got me. Between her and Anna I had to do Anna, should I give a try to get Manakete Morgan? 3th: MUxLucina: I think it's strange (MY MU's are like...bro and sis, so Lucina is kind of family to Male!MU) but does it make a good Morgan? For this one I still have my doubts. I will try to got ChromxSumia (That I don't really like) and some of my Fem!Mu pairings, but anyway, tips, anyone? Ps: I have Smash Brethren 2 and I'm trying to buy Lost Bloodlines 2 to get Dread Scroll. So if you help me without the Dread Fighter class/Skill, I will thank you a lot.
  5. Why can Cordelia not at least have an A support with Chrom? I mean, at least to rest her heart easy about her undying feelings of love for him! Because, it seriously sucks that she's paired with someone else and then still clearly has feelings for Chrom! I understand that they're making a past reference to Shiida/Caeda, but come on! And let"s not even go into the fact that Sumia is the default wife of Chrom and supposedly a good friend to her! Does anyone else have anything to rant/justify about this predicament?
  6. If this has been a topic before I apologise in advance... So yeah, self-explanatory really. Was considering doing a poll but then I remember there's about 80 or 90 different pieces in this game, so... Id (Sorrow) is probably my favourite. It's so soothing and it fits the tone pretty well considering when it's played. Conquest (Ablaze) is a pretty close second, although all the ablaze songs from what I remember sound good
  7. I have three different radical ideas for future Fire Emblem games, but since I don't want to flood the forum with three new topics in a short amount of time, I have consolidated these ideas into a single topic. Also, feel free to share your own radical ideas. Spinning off Fire Emblem Awakening into a separate subseries. This newly spun-off subseries will inherit gameplay mechanics such as the custom Avatar, Second Seals, a traversable world map, unlimited grinding, branching promotions, etc. Meanwhile, the "main" subseries will feature a more "traditional" gameplay system. The main downside is the extra development costs in maintaining two parallel subseries, unless they only make one FE at a time, alternating between the two subseries, which would defeat the whole purpose of a separate FEA subseries except with regards to branding. Having an army composed entirely of player-made custom characters. Instead of having an army of premade, developer-created characters with the occasional custom Avatar, how about an entire army of custom, player-created characters? I came up with this idea as a possible solution to end the shipping wars. Incorporating Skylanders-type figures as an optional feature of the game. When I was watching a video about the Nintendo 2DS, an unboxing video for collectable Pokemon Rumble U figures was in the suggested videos column. The suggestion's thumbnail piqued my interest, so I decided to click on it. When I watched the video, I learned that Pokemon Rumble U had a feature similar to Skylanders and the upcoming Disney Infinity, and I also learned about a feature of the Wii U that I didn't even know existed: that the Wii U GamePad had a built-in Skylanders-type scanner. After watching the video, I thought, what if something similar was incorporated into a Wii U FE game as an optional feature? FE Skylanders-type figures could be used to unlock new characters, new character classes, and/or boost the stats of existing characters. So, what do you guys think? If Intelligent Systems decides to implement a combination of the above ideas, idea #2 and idea #3 can be reconciled by having the FE figures unlock einherjar, powerful pregens, new classes for existing characters, and/or stat boosts for existing characters.
  8. Part of my excitement for Awakening was the possibility that he and Chrom would duke it out in a battle between two eras that was caused by some supernatural force and eventually team up Now, what if he really did make an appearance? How do you think the story would change? Would the story even be the same? How would Chrom and House Ylisse react? Head cannons: ACTIVATE!
  9. I've used basic programming assets used by Nintendo when developing 3ds games (I really had to dig for these, believe me.) It's hard to work with these sorts of files, so I haven't done that much work, but, this is what I have worked with:[spoiler=Screenshot] I used TF2 portraits because they're easy to get. Thanks for checking. If you reply, I'll post more screens.
  10. So i want olivia x chrom sumia x henry however henry doesnt appear until chapter 13 so wll chrom could easily marry sumia. It is possible to get chrom and olivia to suport S in 1 chaptor? Also to make the two become any support rating you have to go into the support menu and then select talk... So if you dont do that do they still hve a support rating.... For example in m case.... Chapter 6 and already sumia and chrom can have support C, however i have not made them tlk in the support menu so does this mean if i get olivia to support C BUT make themtalk will chrom marry livia? Im confused... please try to explain
  11. Due to problems with the polls, the final round will be conducted in a new thread titled "Best deathquote finals, Emmeryn vs Gerome vs Yarne" Inspired by the critical hit quote thread, I wanted to see which is the favorite death/retreat quote in the game. I've checked the forum and there appears to be no previous thread. I've split them up by generation, gender, and circumstance for the last question. All of these were taken from the Fire Emblem Wiki and Serenes Forest. Onto the finals! It's down to: Emmeryn vs Gerome vs Yarne for the best death quote! each comes from a different point in the game: Emmeryn (Regular game): “I...I finally remember... But alas...I am too late... Lissa...Chrom...forgive me...” Gerome (Paralogue 11): "Death...always has its...due... Go, Minerva... Be...free... " Yarne (Future Past): "I don't care if I die out... But please...not the others... " Again, the best can be for whatever reason you want: funniest, saddest, most original, etc. Whatever consitutes the best death quote. To set the mood, I recommend playing either of these to themes while making the selection: Unit Death Game Over Results, (bold indicates winner): Best Male Parent Generation - Chrom: 2 | Frederick: 0 | Avatar: 0 | Virion: 7| Stahl: 1|The Vaike: 2| Kellam: 12| Donnel: 0| Lon’qu: 2 |Ricken:1| Gaius: 3|Gregor: 7| Libra: 4|Henry: 8|Basilio: 0|Gangrel: 0| Walhart: 0|Yen’fay: 4|Priam: 1 | Out of 54 votes. 12. I'm rather picky when playing games and tend to be a perfectionist so was wondering how the unit gallery works with children character considering they have different hair colors depending on the second parent. Does it change when you beat the game again, does it keep the first hair color you obtained, or is it something different?
  13. Usually I skip over Noire and bow classes but ultimately curiosity has taken over and now i'm presented with quite possibly the biggest mental debate I've had with this game. How on earth do you make a good bow user with just five skills? (This is for single player BTW) I've been aiming to use the Sniper class so I can take advantage of the Range 2-3 bows however the accompanying skill set has been a massive issue for me. With Gaius as Noires father she has access to the following notable skills: Pass Lucky Seven Luna Galeforce Lifetaker Pavise Bowfaire And from inheritance she can even gain either Sol or Counter. (I passed down counter) So being a bow user and having a weak enemy phase Galeforce is absolutely necessary so your turn will be optimal. Pass is a great skill to have as a bow user incase you get surrounded. That said your team should have a staff user with Rescue and on top of that another unit (potentially a paired up unit) can counter this problem by breaking a hole in the enemy formation. Despite being widely accepted as needed for a Sniper, based on previous points I feel it's a waste of a skill slot. Lifetaker is an excellent healing option, particularly on units with Galeforce. I can't see me dropping this skill anytime soon. Lucky Seven gives you a Hit/Avo +20 boost for seven turns. Since most rounds won't last much longer than 7 turns I feel this skill is excellent. Increasing dodge rate when you can't fight back seems incredibly useful and it helps counter Bowbreaker. I might use this. Counter is a very debatable skill. On one hand being able to damage enemy units on your turn is useful as a bow user however with Galeforce employing hit and run tactics might prove more viable. In my eyes the issue with counter is that you need to take damage for it to be useful however when the enemy team often triples your own numbers taking damage when you can run with Galeforce seems like a bad play to me. I'm very on the fence with this skill. Pavise on the other hand reduces incoming melee damage by 50% minimising the amount of damage you will be taking. This to me seems far more useful since you'll be healing with Lifetaker anyway thus vastly increasing the amount of attacks you can sponge. Using Bowfaire with a Brave Bow means you'll be doing 20 more damage with each hit. Thats really really good and means you'll have a high chance of being able to use Galeforce and Lifetaker. Luna is the best offensive skill when playing Lunatic but on such a crowded character it feels more like a luxury than a necessity. I'm not sure if i'll use this. Sorry for the wall but I really needed to put my thoughts into words. Now that I've gone through all that, the question still begs, what is the optimal skill set for a Sniper Noire?
  14. After you choose to marry Robin (your avatar) with any of the future second generation children, has anyone else thought of what would happen with your marriage once their present self is born? Note: Lucina is the only one in the game who is currently born
  15. So, I'm currently deciding which dlc maps to get. I calculated everything and damn if I want to get them all that would be pretty pricey, like 47 something dollars pricey, which is more than the price of the game itself. Scramble pack is something that I will definitely grab because of the fan service but what about the rest? I'm talking about story wise, which ones are the most interesting? I would appreciate it if someone could make a list of that! I also want to know which ones to get reward wise. (again, a list would be really appreciated!) tl;dr can someone make me lists of best > worst dlc maps in terms of story-wise and reward-wise respectively? /expectantly waiting
  16. Hey, this is my first post here and I was hoping you guys could help me out. See, I'm currently playing the second run of awakening and this time around I chose a female avatar, I'm thinking of this skill set: Galeforce Ignis Swordfaire Tomefaire Astra/Renewal I'm trying to go for a balanced unit, hence Sword/Tomefaire + Ignis What do you think? I know there's a lot of possibilities with this one.
  17. Don't look at me funny. It was 10am, I'd been up since.... 2pm the previous day, and was kinda high on Dr Pepper. And it really had been pestering me. So, hello, have a 1-shot crossover, because this streetpass team exists. And because it exists, it put a "what if..?" scenario in my head. And that lead to this. A road that may never be taken. And holy damn, did I actually write something that involves ToS that didn't imply Lloyd/Colette?! Eh, I had Robin/Lucina in there to make up for it. And I clearly only gave it one half of an arse. Have I ever mentioned that I hate MU's ending?
  18. First Crossbows for snipers as they worked well. Good Resistance and a full weapon triangle would do wonders for Generals in Awakening. Finally both could use good skills. Great Knights and Assassins shouldn't all the good stuff.
  19. Drafting: 1. This draft is for 4 players. Each player may choose up to 6 units. 2. Chrom, Avatar, Morgan, Olivia and Lucina are free for all to use. 3. The game will be played on Normal Mode Casual. 4. You can play as either gender avatar. Why? Every draft I've seen has been Hard Mode, so having one on Normal would be an interesting change, due to it being easier and the quicker exp growth. Rules: 1. Undrafted units may: pair up with undrafted units and trade with undrafted/drafted units (but must not be in range of a drafted unit when battling) 2. Undrafted units may not do anything not listed above, including but not limited to: pairing up with drafted units, meatshielding, healing and supporting with drafted units. 3. NPC units may do as they please without penalty. 4. Paralogues are optional and are free up to 10 turns. 5. Challenge battles are banned. You may have undrafted units clear a challenge battle to shop, though any items obtained must be discarded/cannot be used or sold. 6. Map shopping is allowed, including items sold from Anna Merchant shops. 7. Mothers are drafted with their children, but are drafted at the same time as the rest of the units. 8. Use of DLC and Spotpass (including Free Content) for grinding is strictly prohibited. 9. Forging is allowed. 10. Frederick is banned. Extra: 1. The Rescue staff can only be used once per turn. 2. Avatar may only be a Tactician or a Grandmaster, and must unequip Veteran as soon as possible. Penalties: 1. Undrafted units performing any disallowed action is worth a penalty of 4 turns, 2. Undrafted units pairing up with drafted units is worth a penalty of 20 turns instead. Exceptions: 1. Ricken and Maribelle are free to be attacked without countering in Ch.5. 2. Nowi and Gregor are free for Ch.8. Teams: Vapo - Cherche+Gerome, Lissa+Owain, Henry, Nowi+Nah, Donnel, no-one bearclaw13 - Sully+Kjelle, Miriel+Laurent, Anna, Gregor, Kellam, Tiki General Horace - Sumia+Cynthia, Panne+Yarne, Vaike, Maribelle+Brady, Libra, Ricken Teddy Bear - Cordelia+Severa, Stahl, Gaius, Tharja+Noire, Lon'qu, Inigo [spoiler=units remaining] Basilio Flavia
  20. Remember those monster classes back in sacred stones? (If you played it that is, sorry if you haven't). Those felt awesome the first time I saw them, and don't get me started on the upgrades, I mean, DEATHGOYLE, it doesn't get much better than that in my opinion. I feel as if they could have made a triumphant return in awakening, beyond the simple revenant and entombed variety, althouh the nod is appreciated. Instead of having a mercenary with a goofy risen mask, you could have had a big ol' skeleton warrior thing with a sword charging around with some great name, like bonewalker, or something. I don't know, I enjoyed sacred stones way to much, I like the idea at least. I am curious though, how would you fell if all the little risen were replaced by some good old fashioned wight creatures, if you like it, what would you replace some of the classes with for said creatures?

  22. At first glance,I loved the english voices, hearing that little quote with each cut-in was magical to me. Until of course I heard some of the character's English voices with a more open mind. I love Brady's English voices, i'll preach that all day and all night, most of Noire's english voices are impressive as well, the evil laugh is spot-on though. I heard the quotes over and over again, and, for most characters, the magic was leaving because I couldn't really get behind them, they are either not serious enough for my tastes, ie. Henry, or way too intent, ie. Fem MU voice 3 I believe. And then there was Morgan. My sweet little daughter shouldn't have the voice of a grown woman, it's just... When I pair her and Brady, because Brady is my son-in-law, I want to hear Brady's English voices, but Morgan will jump in with her 20 year old unfitting womanly voice and just rng breaking crit luckyness, and i'll be all, "oooh... Just, no... Morgan, shush, let Brady talk." Only Fem Morgan though, male Morgan I know far too little about to judge him. And that's why I use the Japanese voices, I may not understand them well, but I'm learning, and the japanese ones, in my opinion, sound a little bit cooler. But what about you? Which voices do you use?
  23. Even though I don't have a large amount of Fe players up where I live, I'm still curious what skills could be considered the best streetpass ones. I've heard of, and quite frankly hopped directly onto the paviseaegisrenewalignis bandwagon, but there has to be something more helpful, of course, if there isn't... What should take up that last skill slot, my personal favorite is armsthrift, only on my my unit though, not the others, otherwise, i'd go with counter or an actually helpful breaker skill. Any other ideas? Any other different sets that clean up even more well than paviseaegisrenewalignis does, other than the breaker monopoly of course.
  24. In the next week, I plan on restarting my lunatic playthrough and replacing it with a new lunatic file. I just made it past the fort chapter, seventeen I believe. Any suggestions? Any special way of dealing with the +10 hit chance people? I could use some help.
  25. You remember that whole scuffle with Valm? I never cared for it, as I stated in a previous post, it just feels... Wrong. Priam on the other hand could make a potentially slightly more interesting second half of the game, in my opinion. Maybe the crew could've followed Priam on some sort of journey to help him find the mythical Ragnell, or have a physical or spiritual realization of some sort. Or they could have him "pull a Joshua" an he'd discover he was Ike's descendant and be given Ragnell. It'd ruin the contingency of the story, but I'm sure we could live without Excellus or Cervantes. I'd miss my sweet Cherche though... What do you make of this? Would you replace the Valm campaign? If so, with what?
