  1. I was thinking if Kamui is related to the people of Chon'sin like Say'ri and especially Yen'fay because of their squinty eyes. Kamui is a Japanese name and the Chon'sin are based on the Japanese. Chon'sin is in Valm but I dunno where to be exact but let's say it's somewhere Kamui had disappeared in Valm (unclear if he's in Valentia or elsewhere) and settle down for some kind of desire because maybe he got tired of the good life in the kingdom that Jesse had made in Greith's territory. He might have wanted to do something for his hometown or his family. Kamui isn't the only one of his kind so it can be that Chon'sin became a country of its own that was from the hometown of Kamui and his family or the other tribe that beated his family out in the business were related to Chon'sin. If Jesse was dead, Kamui would have taken over in his place so it can be possibly located there. The place for deceased bodies of legendary swordsmen are found in Chon'sin called the Warrior's Tomb which is located by the Thieves Shrine in Gaiden. These guys are the founders of Chon'sin and Jesse, Saber, and Kamui are Mercenaries/Swordsmen and Jeese's kingdom is for Mercenaries but it's hard to make connections when Gaiden and Awakening takes place 2000 years later so when Chon'sin became a country is unclear. The small things like this or how Walhart is similar to Rudolf in what he did for the greater good, how you're able to go to Faria Port(aka Port Ferox) in Echoes and Thabest Labyrinth is between Arena Ferox makes the world feel much richer in history.
  2. Vincent sent me some scans of an overlooked interview from the June 2013 issue of Nintendo Dream for Awakening's first year anniversary (for Japan. The issue would have come out in April 2013). As far as we saw, no one had translated it in full (we may be wrong of course). I spent the weekend translating it for you all. There shouldn't be any pronoun mishaps like last time, but if you spot other mistakes in spelling or terminology (I tried to use localized terms but may have muddled a few here and there), please let me know! But it should be fine for the most part. Fun stuff to take away from it. I hope you enjoy the read! See it on the blog here! (And submit mistakes there if I don't see them here)
  3. Hi all! Just finished a fic earlier today that I posted on AO3 and so I thought I'd provide a link if anyone wants to check it out: http://archiveofourown.org/works/10962279/chapters/24403257 It's a four-parter, which is my take on the C, B, A, and S support conversations that Hector and Tharja would have in the Heroes mobile game if supports were a thing. I'm hoping to do a ton more of these fics down the road with different crack pairs, but went with my fave Heroes crack pairing first because I wanted to start off strong. Would love to hear any feedback on content, writing style, etc., or any other thoughts that y'all have. It's been ages since I've done any actual fanfiction so the help would be much appreciated. Thanks!
  4. Awakening did a poor job of keeping the continuity set up by Shadow Dragon and New Mystery of the Emblem, having retconned quite a bit of the lore. Examples: Medeus' revival, Lucina's ability to use the Falchion, geography, degenerating, and so forth I want to here others' takes on it, but I'll probably still debate (not in a mean way) that there is just about no continuity.
  5. I'm kinda curious as to which one others like more. I thought both were pretty cool, but I want to know what YOU think!
  6. I'm currently tinkering with Awakening so I would like to know how to edit growths, any help I can get is appreciated. I'm currenlty using FEAT to decompress the .bin.lz files and the Class Editor and Character Editor 1.1 modules to edit my files. I would also like to note that the Awakening Nightmare modules aren't on the resource directory, should I make that question there?
  7. So Chris Wagar, a gaming blogger I follow, recently let his friend, an old-school FE fan, answer some questions they'd received about about the differences between Awakening's and Conquest's approach to map design and difficulty. I found the post very insightful and wanted to share it here: https://critpoints.wordpress.com/2017/02/19/fire-emblem-everything/ Other topics in this particular blog from his friend include a critique on Fates' debuffs and guard stance, the usefulness of Leif vs. Roy vs. Lyn, and their favourite FE games. I'd also recommend Chris's other blog posts if you like game design analysis.
  8. So, I have a project I'm currently making that involves the newer games, but I can't say what it is yet. So, out of curiosity amongst the veteran fans, which FE game do you guys hate more? Awakening or Fates as a whole? I even created a straw poll which can be found here
  9. I figured I'd share the Fire Emblem Fanfic that I've been working on, Fire Emblem Truly Awake. It's a self insert story that I've been working on for a couple of years now, and just posted chapter 27 earlier today. Feel free to give me criticism, though I'd prefer constrictive criticism. https://www.fanfiction.net/s/10055108/1/Fire-Emblem-Truly-Awake
  10. Hi guys, I've bought the collector game when he's released but I didn't play yet. And I've begun last night. My question is : Can we change randomly growth rates' unit just before he levels up ? I know that in Akawening, it works but in Fates, I don't know. I heard that in Lunatic mode, growth rates are predetermined, what does it mean precisely ? :(
  11. So as it turns out, Awakening's storage and calculation of random numbers appears to be identical to that of FE12, and since I have the formula for the latter figured out... well, yeah. I'm probably going to spend most of today playing around with this since I don't have class, but if there is any particular question you guys want answered, feel free to ask in this thread.
  12. To anyone who hasn't heard Lyn's new voice in the mobile game, it got leaked and I have a video of it. G
  13. So to include only the key details, I want to swap an English Avatar voice bank with a Japanese voice bank (Boku #2, the voice option that was excluded from the english release's japanese voices), i'm assuming this can't be done through simple save editing, and i'm not 100% sure about the process, will any of the sound files themselves need modifying to work correctly? Or can I just replace the English MU files with the Japanese MU Files and everything will work fine? However, if this isn't an option, is it possible to force the Boku #2 voice to play in the English release with a hex edit? Or do the unselectable voices not exist in the English release all together?
  14. Hi! I figured out how to rip models from Fates. But now I'm trying Awakening, and I have all the files extracted. But every time I try to load a body model, it doesn't load on Ohana3DS. Weapons load fine, but the bodies are what I need, and they won't open... Has anyone figured out how to rip them?
  15. Story It's been five years since Grima was defeated and two years since the events of Fates. There is a power vaccum on Valm and in Plegia in the wake of the fall of the Valmese Empire. War on the continent is inevitable. Various factions have arisen to fill the void and vy for supremacy. Robin, who has decided to govern Plegia and reform it from the inside struggles to keep the old order in check. Severa, Owain and Inigo, who suddenly disappeared after the final battle five years ago have returned to Ylisse as suddenly as they left. As World War begins, heroes from Hoshido and Nohr led by Takumi and Leo are summoned to Ylisse. Something has happened in Valla. A gateway has opened, connecting the world of Fates with the world of Awakening. It will take the heroes of both worlds to win the war, restore a dead kingdom and stop an old enemy from being revived. Flow of the Game It will be a single game spanning most of Ylisse and Valla, which was a large part of Revelations. It will be comprised of four campaigns: Act 1 - Plegian Civil War: After Validar was slain and Grima defeated, Robin decided to personally take over Plegia to prevent the Grimleal from trying to revive Grima a third time. Old hatreds are not easily cooled. While there are moderates who would prefer peace, there are those within Plegia who would rather see the world burn. Act 2 - Valla's Revival: After the Civil War in Plegia is resolved Several, Owain and Inigo suddenly return after disappearing five years ago. While their return is well-received, there is a development in the world their left behind: Ryoma of Hoshido and Xander of Nohr have offered to help Corrin and Azura restore the recently discovered kingdom of Valla. This is a less-traditional experience as the focus is primarily on redeveloping the realm using Dragon Veins and slaying the remnants of Anankos' forces. The opening of a portal to anoither world heralds the arrival of robed fanatics shouting about the return of their Dark Master. Corrin, Leo, Takumi and their allies decide to travel to Ylisse to enlist help to deal with the new to their world. Act 3 - World at War: Open war has begun on Valm. Ylisse, Ferox and Plegia pledge their support to their allies and join the fight. Things get complicated when envoys from another world enter the fray. After realizing the heroes from Hoshido and Nohr are not their enemy, Robin decides to leave for Valla at once. Chrom promises to finish the world they started and bring peace back to their world with Corrin's help. It's easier said than done as Robin, Leo and Takumi must travel deep behind enemy lines to reach the portal to Valla. At the same time, Chrom leads the coalition in a bid to end the fighting once and for all. Act 4 - Dragons and Humans: After having safely arrived in Valla, everyone is shocked when Robin suddenly transforms into a dragon! After gaining control over this new form, Robin realizes this may be the secret to ending the Grimleal once and for all. Robin, Xander and Ryoma lead their forces against the Grimleal, who have joined forces with the last of Anankos' forces to oppose Nohr and Hoshido. Having embraced the power within, Robin edges closer and closer to giving in to the Darkness. Meanwhile, Chrom and Corrin lead the Shepherds against the shattered remnants of an ancient kingdom... Features The game would naturally feature characters from both Awakening and Fates. Two worlds intertwine as heroes of both worlds join forces to fight a common enemy. The first two acts take place in their own worlds but the crossover begins in Act 3: You will alternate between Corrin and Robin's forces. In Act 4 you will alternate between Valla and Valm. Robin is a playable character. He/She begins as a Grandmaster but promotes to Mystic Hero in Act 3, a unique class that uses Swords, Tomes, and Dragon Stones (Act 4). Robin's unique ability Checkmate allows him/er to cast an AOE Version of Thorton, inflicting massive damage to a group of enemies. Corrin is a playable character. He/She begins as a Vallite Hero, a unique class that uses Swords, Tomes and Staves and the ability Dragon Blood allows him/her to use his/her Dragon form at will. Corrin promotes to Vallite King in Act 3, a unique class that uses Swords, Tomes and Staves. Everyone from Fates and Awakening returns as playable characters. Halfway through Act 3, you will gain the ability to summom reinforcements from Valla or Valm to tip the battle in your favor. A number of new characters are also introduced. Much of Act 2 is defeating foes to reclaim areas from the Vallite forces so people can move in and develop the land. Act 1 is reminiscient of Part 2 of Radient Dawn: It's short but sets the stage for certain events in Act 4. Rumor has it two Annas have been seen. Hmm... Clear Data from Awakening and/or Fates is required to access most of the 2nd Gen Characters from each game. ...The game would also allow the use of Clear Data from Fates and Awakening: If Awakening Clear Data is used, Robin will retain his/her likeness from the Clear Data. References to certain choices made would also be made throughout the game. If Fates Clear Data is used, Corrin will retain his/her likeness from the Clear Data. Clear Data from each campaign will be used. References to certain choices made would also be made throughout the game. Cerain 2nd Gen characters will only be recruitable with Awakening or Fates Clear Data. ...Whew, I wrote to the point I'm exhausted. LOL. I'll update this a bit more tomorrow though. Feedback/Critique welcomed =O
  16. So yea, Personal skills, what if Awakening also had those? The main goal of this thread is to find the perfect (or not so perfect) personal skill for each of the Awakening. Example Name of the character Name of the personal skill: Description of the skill (What it does in battle) You can add a quick explanation of what gave you this idea (if you want) I'll start with Robin Robin Tactical advice: If this unit supports another one, the other unit deals + 1 dmg and gets + 25 hit Pretty straightforward, Robin is a tactician, he/she should gives advice to his/her ally You can also post jokes/fake personal skills, you can even give personal skill to someone like Grima. Feel free to also post a personal skill to a unit even if someone already did on the same character.
  17. In FE4, every character had a child unit associated with them, regardless of gender. In 13, only women decide children, and in 14, men. Why? Why make less child units? And I know it's not cartridge space, cause an SNES fit it all in and was fine!
  18. So, I've been thinking recently about if there'd be any interesting possibilities from expanding the support pools of certain characters. What I'm thinking is... Chrom's marriage pool: Add Miriel, Tharja, Anna, and possibly Panne, Cordelia, and Nowi, as well. (Remember that, for Chrom, characters have to be recruited as of turn 1 of Chapter 11 to be viable! So, no Cherche, or Say'ri, or Flavia or anything. Anna is listed despite not being part of the normal mother pool because Chrom himself already has an attached child, so the pairing would still impact the second generation.) Sumia's marriage pool: Add Virion, Stahl, Vaike, Kellam, Donnel, Lon'qu, Ricken, Gregor, and Libra. (Basically, give her the same options as all the other women instead of pointlessly restricting her.) General husband pool: Add Basilio, Gangrel*, Walhart*, Yen'fay, and Priam. (*Lissa x Gangrel and Cherche x Walhart would not be viable romantic pairs, for obvious plot reasons, although they could still support to A rank.) What I'm curious about is, are there any kids who could potentially benefit from broadening the options this way? Would there be any sort of impact on who the best non-fixed parent options for who are, or would the newly-added options mostly just amount to novelties?
  19. Edit: I just realized a typo in the tittle. Great job Greenie. Great job. Topic. Besides that I do have some other questions Would that Anna be able to replace Normal Anna in everything ( Supports, Recruitment, Inheritance if she marries a Male Avatar etc.) And is it doable in only one method mentioned in the topic or is it possible both ways. Im asking because I plan on getting powersaves in a week or so and want to know if this would be possible. Otherwise Im stuck hacking my 3ds. Which isn't bad, just time consuming. Yes I'm lazy, feel free to judge.
  20. Is there any hack for awakening or fates that enables child characters to have their parents or canon hair colour??
  21. After finally getting to the final step in the Gay Awakening, I keep getting INVALID changing the romfs setting. If it helps I'm trying to get this going on a digital copy however, I also bought a physical copy and the path remained INVALID. So I pretty sure that I messed up somewhere but I really don't know how or where.
  22. Hello! I am Nils of the Shepherds! A RP member on the website Quoyev. It takes a bit of explaining to do to explain why we are on that site RPing instead of here but here's the main thing.. We need new recruits seeing that our chat is dead. The other group members do shitpost a lot on out threads but I've been making a strong effort to enforce more RPing along with the Shep's leader, Henry. It would be really appreciated if you at least check us out in the link below and do beware since the Shepherds have been up for two years, obviously characters have been claimed, Henry knows more about that than me so you can always go to him for help, or me if by chance is isn't there. Thanks a lot and we hope to see you there! Group: https://www.quotev.com/groups/799138 Me: https://www.quotev.com/awesomemanlady Henry: https://www.quotev.com/28887666
  23. I'm just sick and tired of it. I get why people don't like Awakening. It is a game with not the best map design and not the best story. HOWEVER. I am sort of a series veteran and just started replaying Awakening, and I actually kind of enjoy it. The map design is horrible as well as the story, but it doesn't really bother me for some reason. I like the gameplay, and since reclassing and overpowering your characters is OPTIONAL you can just play this game like any other fire emblem game. I also strangely liked the characters much. Not all of them like Cherche or Gerome, but a lot of them I really like. The characters are gimmicky, yes. But not to the point where they are not fun to listen to anymore. My least favourite fire emblem games, the tellius games, had just as much gimmicky characters that I liked just as much. But there were some EXTREMELY boring characters in that game, as are in awakening. My point is, while awakening has bad parts to it, it is still a fire emblem game. Why can't people just stop complaining how bad it is and enjoy it? Then we come to my favourite fire emblem game. Fates. I enjoyed all 3 versions. I didn't grind on BR and REV, and played on Lunatic. I see people complaining how easy those games are, but those people (Like Mangs) are often using much stat-boosters and visitor points items. With using those, you basically let yourself win the game, as it is almost impossible to lose the game. Me, I had quite a tough time with some of the chapters, Like ch. 23 and ch, 24. I feel like the difficulty spikes are handled very well in any of the 3 versions. Conquest, despite having not so good a story (Again, doesn't bother me) had a sweet level design, and could be enjoyed by almost anyone. Revelations is the game where the most complaints come from. ''The maps designs are the worst''. Really? I actually really liked those maps. All of them, except Ch. 25. I honestly don;t see whats wrong with those chapters and I had great fun playing it. Still, people complain about overgrinding, making the game too easy. 2 things. 1. It's OPTIONAL 2. Those same people complain about the later maps in REV being tedious and unfair, which makes them lose units. If you have trouble, GRIND. I had no trouble with those maps (except 25) and I enjoyed them big time.
  24. PLEASE WATCH THE VIDEO FIRST BEFORE MAKING ASSUMPTIONS, PLEASE AND THANK YOU! So one of the channels on YouTube I subscribed to, CRASHX500, talked what Awakening and Fates did for the FE series...for better or worse, and I'd thought that he had some good points in the video that I wanted others to hear! You may not agree with(or maybe even like) everything he says, but hey, this is mainly his opinion on the matter(and it's nice to hear others opinions......when they actually have valid/understandable points)! Anyway, I hope you enjoy it!
