  1. Like the example in the topic title, there are multiple instances in Echoes where people feel the need to confirm something they said not five seconds earlier. As someone who studies language, this has piqued my interest, because I haven't seen or heard anything like it before I played Echoes. Does anyone know the reason why they do it? And if there is no special reason, is it just to give the Valentians some speech quirks of their own? If this is the wrong forum for this kind of post, I apologize.
  2. I couldn’t find any lyrics so I decided to put matters into my own hands. Please do not take the Latin seriously at all. I listened for sounds by ear and put them in google translate to get some translation. (I have 0 Experience with the language) I may/will get some lyrics and translation wrong especially.- please tell me so I can fix it.. Especially the last part. I’ve listened to this song like almost a thousand times by now. Still not tired of it. (Also I'm quite new to posting on Serenes forest) And by the way, not all of the lyrics are Latin of course. They're in English. Te des sorrow [You give us sorrow] Because of our raged war Ve Des Voro [Nothing to eat] Because of our resource Wo es Volo [We want you] Because of our raged war Vo des Vota [Called to get wishes] Because of our sorrow (Union) De [Because of/down to the end of/from among] Te Des Sorrow [You give us sorrow] Because of the waged war Te des solo [I want you to give] Because of the people (Union) Teach me, teach me all they’ve done so- glory, will never stop or unite for us in our fate. We will not rest! We will survive! Even in the end- we will not flee! Please!…. Please!…Please!…-Please!.. Ve te [You’ve], already won and swung the teeth, so heaven won seit [Since] And we already won and sung the miracles to par [Match/equal] Te Des Sorrow [You give us sorrow] Because of Wo es volo [We want you] Because of (Union) The waged war Yes! We will not rest! We will survive! In cordis [In the heart]- we will not fret! We will not rest! We will survive! Duma protects us! (Repeat from beginning one more)
  3. Now that Shadows of Valentia has been released and has found success in Japan and all over the world, it seems like IS wants to continue the "Echoes" sub-series. For now it seems like they're leaning toward remaking Binding Blade but I can still hope that Genealogy of the Holy War will get a glorious and proper remake. Assuming that a Genealogy Echoes will be released, what kind of things do you want to see in it? I have a few ideas: Lots and lots of animated cut scenes. GotHW has the best story in FE so I would love to see as much of it developed as possible. Side-stories, flashbacks, all that good stuff. Breaks during the chapters. It not news to anyone that the maps are huge and have a lot of empty space, so breaking them up with cut scenes and a camp or something will make the maps less overwhelming. Add the possibility to get ALL holy weapons. Make it so Lex's kids can inherit Helswath and Azel's kids can get Valflame, etc. Return of the Turnwheel mechanic but obviously with some other lore-friendly gimmick More lovers(support) conversations for all the characters Bonus chapters for other scenarios like Ares retaking Agustria Excellent orchestrations of the OST and new music Fully voice acted(or mostly like SoV) Being able to pair Seliph and Julia without a glitch Adapt that sweet, sweet Eldigan arc from the Oosawa manga That's what I had in mind, anyone have other thoughts? Ideas? I want to know what other people expect for a game like this.
  4. So hear me out. When you played Echoes, and possibly also Gaiden, at any point, did any of you guys think like you were exploring a big open world once? When I played through other games that involved me roaming around the continent, I sort of felt like I was in the adventure, exploring the great open world, and seeing so many new things. Even Awakening offered some aspects, but there it was two continents explored. Valentia, and by extension Valm, really didn't feel that grand to me. It felt so small. Like it was a very small world, and it was only the act of dungeon crawling that ever gave it a big more bulk to it. What about you guys, did any of you guys think that you were at all exploring a continent when playing Gaiden/Echoes when compared to other Fire Emblem games?
  5. So, having just about beaten this game, I am indeed pleased at all the obvious love that went into it. It didn't have a lot of the silly things that dragged Awakening and Fates down, had a lot of neat mechanics changes, made fantastic use of the secondary characters (for example, May, Boey, and Saber remaining relevant all the way to the very end), GREATLY expanded the story and dialogue, had wonderful voice acting...it was a treat. So before I go into the things I miss, I wanted to make it clear that I still consider this to be a good remake. That said...I'm someone who also really liked the NES version, in-spite of all it's flaws. And while this remake was great in it's own way, I felt there were a lot of little things that I missed. I'm only going to cover the atmosphere, this time, as this post ended up being WAY longer than I thought it would be. But, I'll get into other nitpicks in the future. For now, here's just the atmosphere. Number 1: Atmosphere One of the things that always stuck out to me about Gaiden was just how...bleak it was. From the minute you start, to the very end, the tone is generally very somber and tragic. Where the remake feels like you're trying to prevent bad things from happening...the original felt like the bad stuff had already happened. Part of the whole point of this game (and why Celica was so willing to offer herself to Jedah) was because the world was on the brink of dying. The land was dark and ominous, the literal dead were walking the Earth, and the soundtrack was EXTREMELY depressing (with only a handful of "positive" tunes in there). Celica's decision to sacrifice herself to Duma wasn't because she was naive and stupid (as you'll recall, she asks him WHY she should believe what he says). It was her believing that the whole world was dying. If she did nothing, everyone and everything in the world would die (as far as she knew). She wasn't stupid, she was desperate; and Jedah actually did a really good job of playing upon that (seriously, props to the writing team; these characters were really well-written). In any case, the original Gaiden did a WAY better job of selling me on just how desperate things were. The villages were a lot emptier, the color palette was significantly darker... ...The characters weren't nearly as handsome and well-groomed as they are in Echoes... ...and the soundtrack was generally a lot more depressing. There were a lot of new songs composed for this remake; and many of them were a lot cheerier and/or relaxing than the original songs. And even some of the original songs that were used were radically changed and/or used less frequently. For example, compare this... Village Theme (Echoes): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pkAjHxLKTfE A fairly neutral piece of mood music that's just kind of...there. It's not CHEERY or anything, but it's relaxing enough that you feel safe and confident. The grass is green (even in the supposedly "baren" Rigel Empire), the houses are standing, the sky is blue...you're feeling pretty good. The GAIDEN music, on the other hand... Village Theme (Gaiden): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HGg97xkg4DQ Yeah. IMMEDIATELY, it sets this somber, outright oppressive atmosphere. It's depressing, and extremely monotonous. However, it's monotonous in a good way. Alm's argument with Mycen, as well as Lukas' speech about how desperate things are, hit a lot harder with this song droning in the background. And that isn't the only time it's used, either. It is used in every village you come across in the original game, save for the Sage's Hamlet and both port towns. Every village you come across is supposed to be in a state of desperation; and the original song reflects that a lot better. That said, Echoes DOES use this song once. Though, sadly... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=io2yXqWVa4g It now sounds a lot more uplifting; as this has been turned into Alm's triumphant "I'm going to rise up and join the army!" theme. Still would've at least worked well for Lukas' recruitment speech, at least...but still missing the sense of despair the original had (to me, at least). The other town theme (the one that played for the aforementioned port towns and Sage's Hamlet) is also the same way. In Gaiden, you feel very...emotional, when you hear it. Encounter (Gaiden): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4Hj0eM_YkuA Like, the characters themselves are happy...but they're happy in the context of a world of tears. The song is just as much sad as it is happy; being played as the recruitment theme AND the theme that plays when random villagers are talking about how many people Barth and Grieth have slaughtered. Like, the way the song is cheery, but desolate at the same time. The characters are smiling, but they're smiling in the face of unspeakable pain (or so it sounds to me). The Echoes version, on the other hand, is just happy through and through. Encounter (Echoes): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WXF8HFGRvgU And it IS great, don't get me wrong! I love the way it's used in the Remakes, too! I just wish they had maybe...I dunno, constructed two different versions of it. Maybe the above piece could have been the "holy cow, Est has been reunited with her sisters!!" theme, and the other could be the "port town of sad and lonely people" variation. And finally, there's "Celica Map 2/The Sacrifice and the Saint". Once again, this is the case where I like what they did with the remake...but still wish they had found a way to recapture the mood of the original. The Sacrifice and the Saint (Gaiden): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CCAfEHiuI6E Now, instead of playing exclusively as Celica's "Chapter 4 Battle Music", this was, instead, the "Victory" theme. The theme that played whenever there was only one enemy left, in ALL Celica battles. In a vacuum, it's obviously not as well composed as the remake. But, it DOES do a better job of supporting that aforementioned "oppressive atmosphere". It's faintly triumphant, but it also sounds desperate at the same time. Like, the characters are winning, but, it's just one step in the long, LONG ordeal that Celica has ahead of her. She's won the fight, but she's still got the entire war ahead of her. But the Remake... The Sacrifice and the Saint (Echoes): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QxI9G3v-n4o Well, it works fantastically as an endgame battle theme. But, once again, it is WAY more triumphant and hopeful than the original. And that's something I find regrettable. Had they kept that same sense of despair throughout the whole game, it would have made Celica's decision to sacrifice herself to Duma make a little more sense. It wouldn't have been smart, necessarily...but I could totally buy her just being really desperate to save her dying world.
  6. The problem I'm having with this map is approaching. I tried to get Nuibaba to cast herself down to 1 HP with her Medusa spell, but ran into difficulties with a Bow Knight who could kill whoever took Medusa, and the fact that the Arcanists that surround her can heal. I've tried circling around the mansion to enter from the back, but I don't have an effective way to deal with the Arcanists as no one can tank Mire nor Death that well, even with the Hexlock shield. Also hurting this is that Nuibaba also covers that entrance with her insane 1-7 range. How should I go about this map?
  7. I never even got Deen, because he is the worst between him and Sonya, in order to get Sonya I had to give up on Deen, so with Jesse, Saber, and Kamui, which classes should they be once they become villagers?
  8. I was wondering what exactly are the reinforcements and the overall map at the "Creation" battle, It would be super helpful, I haven't seen the full map or reinforcements anywhere.
  9. OK, since the success of Echoes: Shadows of Valentia, people have seen that Both stories of Mystery of the Emblem, War of Shadows, and War of Heroes have been remade, and everyone is speculating that Genealogy of the Holy War is going to be remade next, but the Director of Echoes: Shadows of Valentia, Kenta Nakanishi wants to remake Binding Blade next, Binding Blade was fan translated, and wasn't very good, but an official release of a Binding Blade remake will make up for it's mistakes, so here's how I would like the game to be like. The Gameplay. The GBA trilogy had amazing gameplay, but out of the 3 Blazing Sword had the best map layouts, the only issue I have with Sacred Stones' map layouts is that it had too many advantages, and the maps were far too easy, except for the final maps of the game, Binding Blade, had a bit of a poor map layout, honestly since it is going to follow the same maps of Binding Blade, I think this will be left unchanged unfortunately. The Difficulty. The Hard mode can be unlocked if you complete the game once, and some units get bonuses, in Hard Mode, but if Intelligent Systems manage to put Normal, and Hard Mode on it on the 1st gameplay, and once Hard Mode is completed, Lunatic Mode will be available, and considering that New Mystery of the Emblem carried out the Casual Mode for new players to enjoy, it will be added on here, but Rutger, Sin, Milady, and Percival get hard mode bonuses, I consider Casual Mode, and Normal Mode to be treated as Easy Mode. Seperate Paths. In Chapter 9, you are given the choice between 2 villages to rescue, depending on your choice, it alters the next 2 chapters, if you get Larum, then you'll pick up Echidna, and a better Gonzales, for more effort to train, and a late promotion, if you get Elffin, then you'll get Bartre, and a worse Gonzales, for an early promotion, and less effort to train, also after you get through Retaking the Capital, or Pinnacle of Light, depending on how you level up Shanna, Thea, Sue, and Sin, if Shanna and Thea's levels are higher, you go to Ilia, and if Sue and Sin's levels are higher, you go to Sacae, depending on your choice between Larum, and Elffin, one becomes a playable character while the other is resigned to Fortune Telling, and depending on your choice, one Divine Weapon will be obtained on your own while the other is obtained by the Elimine church and you get either Juno, or Dayan, if you choose to go to Ilia, you get Juno, and Maltet, if you choose to go to Sacae, you get Dayan and Murgleis, I think that it would be interesting to get both of them on your own, 1st you go to Ilia, then you go to Sacae, or there should be multiple conditions of victory to decide which path you should take, like Route the Enemy, you go one route, and the other route, you Defend a Stronghold, or Seize one. The characters. You know what's a load of shit? Thieves cannot promote into Assassins in Binding Blade, and Assassins are rare enemies, the only notable ones are Jerme, Gecko, Jamil, and Porcus, and if you count the Master Ninjas, the only notable one is Kotaro, returning the Assassin Class can help Chad be a better assassin than most of the Assassins in the series, the only ones he might not surpass in the series, are Jaffar, and Matthew, and Astolfo a slightly better unit, and all around Cath Sucks, plus some of the characters were pretty shitty, Sophia, Gwendolyn, Treck, Cath, etc. and some of the characters had no personality, Roy is nowhere worse as Kris, and Corrin, having no personality, and shitty growth rates, But there were great units such as Lilina, Milady, Clarine, Percival, Raigh, Rutger, Dieck, it would be good to fix some of the bad characters' stats and the Child Units, by adding Blazing Sword in the Remake, putting in the Parent System, making Roy's growth rates better, Lilina easier to train, Wolt a better unit, etc. And I'm wondering what happened to Lyn, maybe she died, or maybe she disappeared, and who is she married to, Eliwood is less likely because Eliwood's supports and some evidence shows that he married Ninian, Lyn Marrying Kent on the other hand, not likely, but the only possible husbands for Lyn are Hector, and Rath, making her the mother of either Lilina or Sue, but unfortunately, if they reveal who Lyn's real husband is, then it will effect the entire fanbase, a flame war will begin, then again, they might have Lyn remain single, Lyn never made an appearance in Binding Blade, so we are unsure what happened to her during the events of Binding Blade, however there are other characters that appeared as playable characters in Binding Blade, those being Marcus, Bartre, and Karel, so why not bring back older characters like Matthew and Raven, I was glad they didn't remove the support system in Echoes: Shadows of Valentia, supports show the characters their full personalities, but Zephiel is one of the most well written villains in the series. Weapon Forging. Weapon Forging is an iconic addition to Fire Emblem, it 1st appeared in Path of Radiance, then continued on in the later games, so it would be nice to have Weapon Forging, those who don't know about Weapon Forging, it is a thing where you upgrade weapons, having their strength, critical rate, and accuracy increased, if Intelligent Systems can, they can decrease some weapon weight, so that units with low constitution, and speed can wield heavier weapons, plus the Divine Weapons were breakable in Binding Blade, which was a load of bullshit, but if they make them unbreakable it will be better. Trial Maps. The Trial Maps were added after reaching a certain condition in completing Binding Blade, some of them even needs you to download them, but adding them as DLC can make the Trial Maps available right away, the old maps will not require you to pay for them, but adding in new maps will. That's all I have right now, what are your thoughts? If they manage to remake Binding Blade, then it would be known as Fire Emblem Echoes: Legends of Elibe, or something like that.
  10. I did this with 14, my least favourite game in the series, so now I'm doing it with my favourite, Gaiden/Echoes (2/15). (8 is also my favourite, I'm tied between the two, it's weird but I do this w/ Pokemon too) The biggest issue with 2/15 are the maps...but not all of them, just swamps. Swamp maps are the biggest problem 2/15 have. They don't have actual strategies, you just have to hope you can heal everyone in time before they get attacked and beaten by the swamp/attacker. It's nothing but a struggle and one that could have been easily avoided too. I get that it's a Famicom title, but like it could have done a lot better. Other than that, I don't have any issues with 2/15 minus Clair and Clive. They are terrible units, Clair can't do damage and Clive is Clive. They did get buffs in 15, which is nice, but so did everyone else and it just doesn't help either of them in the long run. Like why would you use Clive when you have Zeke and Matilda? The Whitewings may be with Celica but man they just outclass in every way. All in all though, 2/15 are still my favourites even with their flaws. The game has something all others don't and it's great.
  11. This is just my prediction for the next FE Echoes remake. I have no idea whether or not this will be true but here goes nothing. As much as I want FE4 to be remade I'd have to say that the next FE remake will be FE6 and 7 together because you can't have one without the other. FE7 is the prequel to 6 and 6 never made it outside Japan and that being the continuation for the story of FE7 I would only see fit that both of them get remade maybe not on the same cartridge but considering how FE 3 have both a remake of FE1 and had the sequel on one cartridge, its a possibility. So, why FE6 and 7 you say? Well, I've been thinking. You know how Awakening and Fates both had an avatar, pair up, the marriage system and Risen/Faceless. Shadows of Valentia has no marriage system, no avatar, no pair up, but has Terrors. So I've been thinking that IS is just taking a break from the marriage system and just giving us the core Fire Emblem gameplay without having to stress about who are we going to pair up in battle and who's a good mother/father for this particular child character. We are just playing the core game for awhile, and I think that FE6 and 7 are coming next simply because of that. But as for the return of the avatar, I'd rather him be a silent protagonist like Mark in FE7 but still no marriage system. I mean, I haven't payed all that much attention to other people's opinion on their view point of the marriage system as of today but I think we need a break from it and just play Fire Emblem for the strategy and not the child rearing. BUT after FE6 and 7 comes out FE4 and 5 come next with the original marriage system (at least in 4) and child characters that fit perfectly into the story. I think IS is just letting things stay familiar and not letting things like the marriage system and the avatar go stale where to the point that no one wants it to return. The marriage system and the avatar will return later maybe not in the same game but will separately for sure. Like FE7 for the avatar and FE 4 for the marriage system. It's just splitting things up to keep things fresh. But who's to say these two won't appear together in the upcoming FE Switch? What are your guy's thoughts on this?
  12. My favorites in the Fire Emblem series are. GBA: Elibe Saga. 2 Smash Characters: Telius Saga. 3DS: Echoes: Shadows of Valentia. (Finally playing it, and enjoying it so far.) Spinoff saga: Warriors. Past Titles: Genealogy of the Holy War.
  13. I personally like Alm's route better. I just really hate Desert Maps, and Swamp Maps. And I just like Alm better. Plus keeping Celica's army alive is a pain.
  14. Does anyone else not like the voice acting in SoV? Maybe it's just me, but something turned me off about it. Honestly while playing the first time, I didn't like the game as a whole and I couldn't pinpoint why, but after second run with VA off, I really like it. And it's not like there was anything WRONG with the actual voice acting, more with the fact that EVERY SINGLE LINE is read to you and you just have to sit there and listen when you've already read what they're going to say, or just cut them off in the middle of their sentences and get weird sounds of "Alm, let's--I don't kno-- In that ca--Okay." I know this happens in many other games too but I always liked that Fire Emblem avoided it. To contrast, I love the lines that were voiced during dungeon exploration. I wish there had been more to that, maybe because you actually have something to do while they're talking at you. I dunno. Did anyone else feel this way? Am I just weird?
  15. Someone did this for Awakening, and I did a thread like this for Fates, so I decided that now that the game's been out for a while, why not do it for SoV too? Everyday I'll make a poll, and everyone can vote on their favorite critical quote for each character. Day 1 is Alm. I'll record the results here for the winning quote of the poll each day. Results: Day 1 - Alm: This is how it's done! Day 2 - Celica: Grant me strength! Day 3 - Tobin: This is the part that hurts! Day 4 - Gray: It's been fun! Day 5 - Kliff: You watching? Day 6 - Lukas:
  16. Hey, Its been a long time, since I was active (not lurking in the shadows) and recently I had the urge to go and buy one of the 3DS FE titles. If you could kindly consult me about what game I should get, that would be nice. I know, many may not like them or even hate them, but I am still asking for (if possible) objective opinions, why I should or should not get game X. Meaning a reply like "Buy game X, cuz good waifu" is something I often see on non-Serenes Forest forums with unreasonable children. PS: If I seemed rude, then I apologize. But recently, I have encountered many kids in fandoms where I also lurk around with this kind of attitude, which increases my salt-level. PPS: If there are any mistakes, english is sadly not my native language.
  17. Now I'm going to say right now, that I have never finished Fe 6. However, I do like some of the ideas the game had, and would love to see it remade so the west can play it without emulators. Now, I will say right now that I am a weird person, and the things I value in fire emblem games are different than most people's values. I also some times find smaller details in games agitating, so if you see and idea that seems out of place to you, it is probably because it was meant to fix a small detail that most of you were probably fine with. I would just like to share my ideas for a possible remake of Fe 6 with you all, and would love to see your opinions as well. So here we go... - A camp after battles, so you won't just be directed to the battle field after a battle is over. You can talk to characters sort of like in fates (If the next chapter can lead you into getting a new legendary weapon, they can give you clues/rumors that can give you the requirement into getting the weapon), they can give you clues about the requirements, and get items for it. You can also go to town, where you can buy weapons or repair them (another feature I think they should add), recruit a new teamate, or train in the arena. - An item similiar to Mila's turnwheel, but with different purposes. The person who uses it will be in camp after battles, and with his item, he can tell you if a legendary weapon can be obtained in the next chapter. He will also tell you that you should also protect Fae. This person and the item are basically guides to help you get the best ending. - Balancing characters and RNG - make the sword of seals and the legendary weapons unbreakable, but nerf them as well. - Make the exaccus a special weapon instead of a sword, for instance, it can become either a sword, axe, or spear, depending on the situation. - Make the final boss resistant to the legendary weapons (don't know how they would integrate this into the story, but the bosses weakness made her much easier). Also make give the final boss max health. What do you think of these ideas? Do you agree with them, or disagree with them, let me know.
  18. So, I'm new to the site... not at all new to the games. I've been playing since I was born. I started with 7 and have now made my way through the entire series except for Thracia 776 (for the love of God please link me a working patch). Okay, introductory note aside, I've been doing some thinking. Recently I was listening to Echoes's amazing soundtrack. When I reached the song 'Prince of Darkness', something hit me... So, we know that Fire Emblems 1/11, 2/Echoes, 3/12, 4, 5, and 13 are all part of the Archanea Timeline. So, certain demons and monsters such as both Loptyr and Duma exist in the same world. Julius was always referred to as the Dark Prince, while Berkut was referred to (through the soundtrack) as the Prince of Darkness. Let's also not forget that when Julius was killed in Genealogy, he morphed into a dragon before he finally bit the dust. So, and I mean to say this is just a thought, is it possible that Duma (having taken the form of a dragon before) is the same Loptyr that Jugdral came to fear? They even both utilize similar fighters on the final levels in their respective games: the Deadlords and the Duma Faithful. Along with that, we learn in Genealogy that Loptyr once ruled some sort of Dark Empire, sounding extremely similar to the land Duma was ruled with an iron fist. I'm not saying this has to be the truth, but please use your complete knowledge of the series and really get some good insight into the evidence that supports this. If anybody has some other evidence supporting it or something to put it down, please make a post. Seeya fellahs!
  19. It'll be written like a story, with the occasional screenshot (and hopefully some humor). It'll be played completely blind, Hard/Classic, dead means dead (except for Game Over, of course). When on Saturday I'll post the first part is TBD, it depends on how long it takes me to play, type it out, arrange text and screenshots to my satisfaction, and get it posted. So join me as we dive into this new/old Fire Emblem game.
  20. Perhaps this isn't the right place to post, but I finally created an account because I can't stand the generic sprite for Echoes on the front page. I crossed the sprites of Alm's Falchion and Celica's Beloved Zophia -- hopefully an admin will take pity on my plight and use this or something other than the generic emblem.
  21. I'm looking for youtube channels dedicated to Fire Emblem, anyone have any suggestions? Heres a list of the ppl i'm already subscribed to Lucky Crit (news and strategy mainly echoes) Sagemaster15 (heroes meta and bad jokes) Phoenixmaster1 (heroes meta and strategy) princereyson (ROM hacking) ghast station (playthrough and lore) strategistmaster (heroes meta) mangs (playthroughs) blazingknight (top tens and discussion) unassuming venasaur (gay fates supports) Let me know what other fe youtube channels are out there, I hope this can also help anyone looking for good Fire Emblem content.
  22. I remember back when I first started lurking around SerenesForest, there was a thread where fans would discuss their opinions on various characters from Fire Emblem Fates. A successor thread was eventually made for Fire Emblem Awakening following the conclusion of the Fates one, and I remember keenly following both threads because of how interesting it was to hear other people's opinions on various characters. Now that Echoes has been out for almost three months now amongst the worldwide audience to the point most of us are familiar with the game's cast, I'd figure it'd be a good time to make a "Opinions on that Character" thread for Echoes similar to the Fates and Awakenings ones from the past. For those that participated in those threads linked above, you should already know how it works. For those that are new to a thread like this, it's simple: each day, I will randomly pick a major character from Fire Emblem Echoes and make a post in this thread asking fans to give their opinion on that character. When giving your answer, you can consider any aspects related to the character: personality, overall character, performance as a unit, stats, design, voice acting, etc. Below is a list that will be updated with various characters for each passing day: 08/12/17: #1: Alm #2: Celica 08/13/17: #3: Forsyth #4: Valbar 08/14/17 #5: Tatiana #6: Atlas 08/15/17 #7: Faye #8: Nomah #9: Berkut 08/16/17 #10: Luthier #11: Kamui #12: Irma 08/17/17: #13: Mycen #14: Boey #15: Rinea 08/18/17: #16: Delthea #17: Est #18: Halcyon 08/19/17: #19: Tobin #20: Conrad #21: Slayde 08/20/17: #22: Clair #23: Leon #24: Massena 08/21/17: #25: Mathilda #26: Genny #27: Fernand 08/22/17: #28: Zeke #29: Saber #30: Desaix 08/23/17: #31: Kliff #32: Palla #33: Grieth 08/24/17: #34: Python #35: Mae #36: Nuibaba 08/25/17: #37: Clive #38: Jesse #39: Rudolph 08/26/17: #40: Lukas #41: Catria #42: Jedah 08/27/17: #43: Silque #44: Deen #45: Mila 08/28/17: #46: Gray #47: Sonya #48: Duma 08/29/17: #49: Randal #50: Emma #51: Shade #52: Yuzu I'll be posting the next updates to this thread between 8:00-9:00 PM CST each day, so be sure to come back and check around the given time frame to give your opinion on the next batch of characters. For these first few days, I will present two playable units to give opinions on. After a short while, I will be presenting three characters to give opinions on: two playable units (one from Alm's army, the other from Celica's army) and one major antagonist/major NPC. The choices for these playable units plus major enemy units and NPCs come from SerenesForest's Pre-release Character poll.
  23. Hello and welcome all to the Unit Evaluation Thread. The game having arrived a little more than a week ago, I thought it would be appropriate to gauge the usefulness of all the units presented to us thus far. Due to how early I'm making this thread, it should be treated more as a rough draft on what a unit is capable of rather than a completely strict tiering system. It's worth also only to see where the community stands on these guys. This evaluation will strictly be on their contributions in gameplay and not on personality. A discussion on their worth as characters should probably be made into a separate thread for the sake simplicity. I won't add a poll system for ranking unless requested since I'm not entirely sure of their efficacy. The characters will be presented in pairs for a duration of two days until the next batch is selected. Excluding these first two units, everyone will be done in order of recruitment which means that after Alm and Celica, the next group will be Lukas and Gray and so forth until the end of chapter 1 where we switch to Mae and Boey. Lastly, spoilers are allowed to avoid vagueness in what maps they hold a specific advantage. Furthermore, the units in question will be more closely evaluated against their more immediate competition. For example, Lukas' direct competition would be Forsyth and while Valbar can be mentioned, the units only ever join in post-game at a point where Thabes is the only thing left so it doesn't add much to the discussion. For mercenaries in particular, looping will be counted as a boon of theirs but it will not heavily influence their usefulness. Evaluate the units based on the people in their respective routes. Without further ado... Our hero from Ram Village sporting high base stats, one of the highest growth rates in the game, a large pool of support bonuses from his pals and the ability to wield the mighty Royal Sword and Falchion. Needless to say Alm is an investment well worth putting levels in especially for when he goes solo to gain the Falchion. One of the best units in his side of the story, his contributions get better as you move along with his promotion making him gain access to bows even if they might not see much use. Lastly he is able to swiftly change his weapon due to having access to the convoy in battle means he can eat or switch weapons on the fly for whatever situation. Our heroine from Novis, a princess in search for the Earth Mother while fighting against pirates and the Duma Faithful. Like Alm, she sports decently high base stats, some of the highest growths in the game, a good number of supports and access to the convoy. That said, she contributes slightly less than Alm mostly due to how good most of the characters in Celica's group are and the fact that due to her primary weapon being a sword, she cannot counter from two spaces away like Boey or mage Mae. She is however a blessing due to learning Seraphim early to deal with the necro dragons, being able to heal if Genny has used her turn and the fact that she can gain her personal weapon the Beloved Zofia first by upgrading the golden dagger with your first gold mark. Now discuss, agree, disagree and lay out your opinions for me SF. Edit 1: Added some clarification. Edit 2: Only minimal grinding is factored in the evaluation of these units, and looping will not be heavily counted in their evaluation when applicable.
