  1. so i've been playing fe awakening. it's great, but strange. my great knight (stahl) is level 2 and he has 30 defence. is that normal? are stat caps like non existent in this game or something? maybe i just got lucky. also, my swordmaster is level 1 and hes already got 30 speed.
  2. Drafting: 1. This draft is for 3 players. 2. Chrom, Avatar, Frederick, Lissa, Sumia, Cordelia, Olivia, Tiki and Lucina are free for all to use. 3. The game will be played on Lunatic Classic. 4. The last round of drafting is reversed. Rules: 1. Undrafted units may: pair up with undrafted units and trade with undrafted/drafted units (but must not be in range of a drafted unit when battling) 2. Undrafted units may not do anything not listed above, including but not limited to: pairing up with drafted units, meatshielding, healing and supporting with drafted units. 3. NPC units may do as they please without penalty. 4. Paralogues are optional and are free up to 20 turns. 5. Challenge battles are banned. You may have undrafted units and/or summoned spotpass teams clear a challenge battle to shop, though any items obtained must be discarded/cannot be used or sold. 6. Map shopping is allowed, excluding items sold from Anna Merchant shops. 7. Mothers are drafted with their children (with exception of the free mothers), but are drafted at the same time as the rest of the units. 8. Use of items obtained from event tiles, the barracks and renown items are banned. 9. Use of DLC and Spotpass (including Free Content) is strictly prohibited. 10. Forging is allowed. Extra: 1. A unit that activates Galeforce may not move. Taking another action with Galeforce other than using a healing item is worth a penalty of 10 turns. 2. The Rescue staff can only be used once per turn. 3. Second Seal is banned on the Avatar. 4. Nosferatu is not buyable. 5. Renown will be as if it started at 0 for everyone. Here's the list of what can be obtained: Glass Sword (after Chapter 4) Second Seal (after Paralogue 3) Orsin's Hatchet (after Chapter 11) Seed of Trust (4 maps after Chapter 13) Levin Sword (6 maps after Seed of Trust) Energy Drop (6 maps after Levin Sword) Beast Killer (7 maps after Energy Drop) Penalties: 1. Undrafted units performing any disallowed action is worth a penalty of 4 turns, 2. Undrafted units pairing up with drafted units is worth a penalty of 20 turns instead. Exceptions: 1. Ricken and Maribelle are free to be attacked without countering in Ch.5. 2. Nowi and Gregor are free for Ch.8. 3. 2 undrafted units are free for Ch.2. All undrafted units can pair with drafted units during Chapter 2. 3. Something has came up in mind as I have (constantly) restarted Fire Emblem Awakening: hair color for the children. I may be the only one that is very observant on this minor trait, but perhaps others are as well. What do you all think are the best, worst, or most notable hair colors for the children? For me, giving Yarne an unnatural hair color burns my eyes or makes my laugh uncontrollably.
  4. Does anyone know what skills all the characters have in Double Duel? I caught wind of how the enemy versions of your units have skills that they normally wouldn't have access to, like Henry with Swordbreaker or Tiki with Aether, etc. Are there any sources that list what skills each of the characters have? Otherwise, is there any way to view or find out what they have in-game, or else can anyone just tell me what is known of which abilities they have? Much appreciated. EDIT: By the way, if there's no easy way to check it without playing through all the DDs then don't sweat it, I can do my best to find out who has what myself just by watching SoC and other people's DD vids.
  5. I have not played many FE parts and I have only beaten FE7-10 (FE9 hard; not maniac) on the highest difficulty yet. I tend to play FE11 on merciless soon. Yesterday I started my first attempt on lunatic+ causal, although even lunatic was annoying for me. I finished the prologue and chapter 1, so I stucked in chapter 2 "Shephards". The enemies with their luna+ wrecked Freddy up. After resetting around 20 times, I gave up and I am not going to continue it! I hate the whole idea that you have to use a "Jagen" against enemies with broken stats and skills, which always activate. The stats of the enemies are ok for this difficulty (same like lunatic I believe) but their skills ruin the strategical part to my mind. This is almost complety luckbased and this is not what I expect for a FE game! So I prefer the little but interesting feature in FE10 that the movement range of the enemies is disabled. This was fair and a great strategical feature, which should return at least as a menu option.
  6. Hey guys, I was exploring the FE13 Subforum and I didn't really see any threads that specifically delve into which classes are the most useful in Awakening, so I thought I'd make one just for that purpose. The idea of this thread is to sort the classes for how useful they're generally considered to be for the postgame metagame-- namely spotpass challenges and challenge maps like Apotheosis. This refers more generally to which classes are the most useful to reclass into, regardless of the character. (Assume all DLC content available.) I'll keep track of more or less what the general consensus is in the OP for reference to anyone looking for like a general classing / strategy guide. S-Rank: Top of the line, second to none. - Sage [s / A Limbo] - Darkflier A-Rank: The best units with the most essential qualities required for success in the postgame. - Valkyrie - Falcoknight - Hero - Dancer B-Rank: Very strong units that typically act as good filler. May be interchangeable with one another or some A-rank units. - Berserker - Paladin - Sniper - Assassin - Dreadfighter - Bride C-Rank: Strong units with unique niches, though these roles are usually overshadowed by more powerful units. - Wyvern Lord - Sorcerer - Dark Knight - Greatlord - Grandmaster - Manakete D-Rank: Units that are usable, but mostly outclassed by other units. Not bad, but typically not worth a team slot. - Bow Knight - Warrior - General - Great Knight - Griffon Rider - Swordmaster - Trickster - War Monk E-Rank: Bottom-of-the-barrel units that have no practical use or application in competitive settings. - Villager - Taguel - Lodestar General Conduct: For discussion purposes, try to stick to discussing one or a few units at a time. While completed, the list may still be subject to change if enough substantial evidence for the change is offered up. **When discussing a unit, don't forget to mention which tier you think it belongs in.**
  7. Yeah, I did a review for Awakening a while back around the time it came out. Reread it recently when my resurgent Fire Emblem obsession came back around, and it actually wasn't a horrible review, so I thought I'd share it. I know most people know Awakening like the back of their hands by now so there's probably no untreaded ground here, but take from it what you will, I suppose.
  8. I have noticed, that the A. I. really lacks in FE13. And I don´t talk about the NPC (always bad as ever), but also about the A. I. of the enemies. I have noticed, that range weapon users (archers, mages etc.) don´t attack units, who can´t fight back, instead units, who can fight back. If I put a mage and a myrmidon (with no range weapon) in range of an archer, he would attack the mage. Sure he would cause more damage to the mage and he would have a better hit rate, but therefor the archer would risk to take damage and die.
  9. The basis of the idea is this: The game begins in Lyn's story. It goes on to Eliwood's (Or Hector's if you unlock it). You go through Eliwood's/Hector's story. The difference is, it has the support system of Awakening, with added S supports so characters can get married. The marriages affect the children's growth rates later in the game. After the ending scene, you move on to Sword of Seals. The children's stats are not affected by the parent's level, but they're growth rates are (I.E. Erk!Raigh/Lugh would have ridiculously high magic growths). Once you get done with Zephiel, sidequests appear to recruit the parents, who have the same stats that they had when you left them at the end of Blazing Sword. Changes: -Marriage system that's not completely OP like in Awakening (Canas/Dorcas can't get S supports, as they are already married. Also, Bartre x Karla is cann, so they only S support with each other). -Tactician is a character, you pick his starting class at the beginning of the game, as well as asset/flaw. -Recruit surviving parents in the SoS half. -Updated graphics, but not exactly the same as Awakening (We don't want Canas in that ridiculous Sorcerer outfit) -Voice acting. -World map, but no skirmishes. -Limited arena use for each character (A character can only get so many level ups in a certain arena). -DLC (Available for play after beating Zephiel) -Going to also add in Karla to Eliwood's story, so then Fir doesn't seem like she just came in to existence. My friend and I were speculating about a remake for FE7, and it escalated to this. What do you guys think?
  10. Hello Everyone, I have created the Continent of Ylisse from Fire Emblem Awakening in Civilization V. I am unsure of how many people on Serenes Forest play Civilization, but if you do, a download, as well as feedback, would be appreciated. On a side note - this is my first post here on Serenes Forest :) http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=210299371&searchtext=

  12. I'm not sure how well known Gaiden was but is there an explanation as to why Alm has a Falchion as well? And what happened to it in Awakening? Or was it renamed as "Alm's Blade" to avoid confusion to international players?
  13. Hi. I wanted to do a special playthrough for this game and came up with this idea. Basically: Rules -Only Miriel Ricken Tharja Henry Noire and Laurent can see any combat in chapters after they're obtained. -Only Avatar can do combat for Prologue and Chapter 1 and then he/she doesn't count as a magic user. -Other units can be used for pair up, but they can never ever lead. This means I can't use the advantages of flight or + move but I can still use them for pairing up and marriage. Whether or not they can be equipped is up for voting. -Lissa may see use if she wins in the poll for healing until I obtain more than just Miriel. -I will visit all the Paralogues I can visit except children paralogues, which is up to my discretion. I am very likely to recruit Laurent and Noire. -Avatar can not pass down Veteran to any children. -The units mentioned above can only use tomes if they're in a class that can use other weapons like Dark Knight. -Nosferatu is banned from being bought. -Anna Merchant Shops are banned. -Skirmishes/Grinding are banned. -Boss abuse is banned. -Hard Mode, Classic. -Spotpass is banned. After Chapter 18, A rank tomes can be obtained from Spotpass. -Renown is allowed up to....NOT SURE YET. Well, there you go. Vote and I will start tomorrow.
  14. Dunno if this has been done before, but whatever. My first challenge run. Playing Awakening with a few rules. [spoiler=FE4 rules I'm using] 1. All pairings must be done before entering ch. 14. (Halfway point) 2. All characters will be recruited. All children characters will be recruited before ch. 15. Parent characters are allowed in all paralogues until 16. 3. Once all children are recruited, I can ONLY use children characters (and characters recruited after ch. 15) EXCEPT for Olivia as a non-combat dancer. Inigo can't be a dancer :( 3a. Obvious exceptions are Chrom (required on EVERY chapter) and Avatar (for ch. 23 and Endgame) 4. Parent characters are NOT allowed after ch. 15 (unless there are more than 14 deployment slots available.) 5. Each parent is allowed ONE "special" weapon. This weapon will be forged for 3 critical per 6 levels gained. Weapons are either passed down to the children or re-forged if broken. [Prepromotes start with +20 levels.] 6. No parent can use/pass down the lv. 15 promoted skill. (This corresponds to a total level of 35) 6a. Exception: Chrom's son, if he has one, will inherit Rightful King. [spoiler=Special rules] 1. Spotpass paralogues and Outrealm characters not allowed. Assume 1,000 Renown start. (10,000 Gold helps with forging.) 2. Risen skirmishes can be done once per cleared chapter/paralogue, up to ch. 12. After this, they are not restricted until ch. 15. 3. DLC is not allowed until the completion of ch. 12. DLC can be completed once per "generation." 4. Panne and Nowi must reclass at lv. 10. Donnel can reclass at lv. 15, but cannot promote. No other Second Seals are allowed for the parents. 4a. Children are allowed ONE Second seal. A character cannot exceed 30 levels as an unpromoted unit, 30 levels as a promoted unit. Manakete and Taguel children are not allowed to reclass. 5. Merchant shops are allowed until ch. 12. 6. Unpaired males WILL be killed off by Risen somehow. (No future for you, lol) 7. No forges except the ones specified above. No screenshots or video, just me talking strategy and fails. I guess that's all the special rules I can think of. If anyone has a suggestion, post here. Playing on Normal Classic (because I suck at strategy lol) Suggestions for pairings? Might start today(Aug. 1) or tomorrow. Avatar: Male EDIT: rules changed a little to avoid abuse and for clarification EDIT: trying to fix poll
  15. So when I was money grinding in EXPotential Growth (I need more DLC. >_>), I paired up Inigo and Kjelle (they were lovers), and I pressed on the plus sign under Kjelle's picture so I could see her assassin animation for the hell of it. On the bottom screen, her face was blushing. Surprised, I then looked at Inigo's animation and saw that his face was blushing on the bottom screen, too. I then tried it on my Avatar and Cynthia paired up (married to each other), and they were also blushing. Huh. Not bad.
