  1. I'm at the end of Chapter 19 in Thracia 776, which I understand is the last escape chapter before the Gaiden that requires me to have let someone get captured to access it. I was thinking of leaving MIranda behind to teach her a lesson for being so rude to me when I rescued her the first time. I used her to recruit Conomer this chapter already. I won't miss anything by putting her in time-out for a few maps, will I? If she's needed for something, my next choice would be Shiva, and if he's needed for something, I've got other possible candidates, but Miranda is my first choice.
  2. I figured I'd start one of these. RULES: 1. Please choose your character before joining! If you're choosing a character that doesn't have a specific father in Genealogy, specify the father before joining. Sibling pairs will share fathers, so if you want to join a sibling pair with someone who chose the other sibling, take note of the father. And try using the officially translated names, as listed below! 2. Only one character per person. That way, everyone has a chance to choose a character. Also, substitutes won't be allowed unless the person they substitute is already taken by someone else. 3. Each reply has to be one paragraph long. I don't want anything more. 4. Make it specific when you're speaking out of roleplay. 5. No godmodding or anything, obviously. 6. Now, we can mix with FE5 if you want, such as adding in FE5 exclusives. Though this is mainly an FE4 thread, if you want to portray an FE5 character, well, I'll be the one to decide if that character joins the roleplay, mostly so that FE5 doesn't run over FE4. 7. No drama, please. If you find yourself starting to hate one of the other roleplayers, just kindly block and leave! 8. If you have to leave the roleplay for any reason, please say so! That way, I can open up the character for someone else. This list of rules is flexible, but please try to follow them as best you can! If I need to add more rules, then I will. Now, for the list of characters. Seliph Lester, Lana (Father: Undecided) Ulster, Larcei (Father: Undecided) Oifey Diarmuid, Nanna (Father: Undecided) Julia Ced, Fee (Father: Undecided) Arthur, Tine (Father: Undecided) Iuchar, Iucharba Shannan Febail, Patty (Father: Dew) Febail: not elite Altena, Leif Finn: Dayni Ares Lene, Coirpre (Father: Undecided) Hannibal
  3. Hey Folks! So I've been running through Thracia for the first time using the Translation patch and have hit something of a roadblock on Chapter 23 Cyas is Recruited at the beginning of the chapter and every guide says if you don't choose Sety then Cyas joins you (if you choose Cety Cyas leaves at the end of the chapter). Sety Enters the map and kills the boss when someone from your army enters the green square; however, if you kill the boss guarding the castle before the NPC turn he doesn't appear at all. Heres what I tried, Killed boss on the first turn and seized the castle. Cyas left at the End of the chapter for the Tower of Blagi rather than joining my army signifying that I'd recruited Sety Instead (though I didn't). When that didn't work I baited the green square with a Dracoknight and Sety appeared. I brought him to the upper right corner with a Draco later on, but didn't recruit him. I finished the chapter without recruiting Sety and Cyas still left. Am I missing a detail to his recruitment here? Has anyone else had this problem? Is this perhaps a glitch?
  4. Hello! I have been a part of the Serenes Forest for a few months, and I've mostly been inactive in all this time. Because of this, I decided that I would share something I have been doing and enjoying: Writing! Since Fire Emblem is a franchise I enjoy a lot, I decided to take a shot in the realm of fanfiction and see what comes from it. I've actually written a few (actually just 3, lol) complete FE stories, and I have quite a lot of ideas for many future ones. The thing is... All of them are centered around FE5: Thracia 776. "Why might that be something special or worthy of pointing out?" you might ask. Well, as far as I'm concerned FE5 is now the least-played game in the series (thanks to Echoes officially getting Gaiden out of meme obscurity), and that means that quite a lot of people aren't familiar with it's characters. Because of this, I feel like there really isn't an audience for them, as again the majority of people might not know of the characters or the stories told within the game. Thracia is just flat out my favorite FE game with all of it's shortcomings included, plus the cast of 56 characters and the fact that there are no Support Conversations whatsoever made me really excited to try and make its characters feel more alive and like actual character. Here I leave my second story overall, called "A Glimmer of Hope". It's meant to be a prologue of the game set shortly before they stumble upon Fiana. I would actually love any feedback I could get on this story, since it's sort of my introduction to how I write and it contains the 3 main characters of Thracia. I have actually published this story, and since the rules never said anything in regards to links, so if there's somehow a problem with sharing the story that way, I will still publish it below. There it is! I really hope that it is of people's liking and that I didn't screw up in any way (let it be the story, or the way I made this topic). I've honestly been in a block of sorts being afraid that no one will really read my work due to the good chunk of people who haven't played FE5, since I will be delving into absolutely all of it's characters, from the characters with the most potential (Shiva, Mareeta, Lara, Homer, Saias) to the downright unthinkable (Brighton, Troude, Salem, Hicks, Miranda, Ronan, Kane-Alva-and-Robert, etc). That, and seeing how supportive and varied the community is, I thought this could be my opportunity to throw myself out there. Again, I'm open to feedback of all sorts :) Thank you for reading and have a wonderful night! (Or day!)
  5. Do you like to edit Nanna No Cloak's Sprite? Nanna (No Cloak) is Nanna (Paladin) without Cloak and Feather Decoration. Base Nanna (No Cloak) Sprite ↓ Nanna (Paladin) Sprite ↓
  6. For those who don’t know JFK is the president who got assassinated. I think The driver is secretly his husband who had an umbrella and was Ted Cruz’s dad with a sugary drink apart of the CIA and the Illuminati and plays baseball who was hired by JFK to kill JFK. I have backup support, would you want to be known as the president who got assasinated or the president who committed suicide. If you want me to add something Fire emblem okay.Does anyone have a link to the Best worst Fe5 rom it would be nice if you shared it with me.
  7. ... how do you think it would work? What plot elements or mechanics do you think will remain or change? This is just for fun! So, I honestly believe there will be a Jugdral remake in a few years from now. I didn't think it possible at first but then the Gaiden remake came, and if a Gaiden remake is possible, more so a Jugdral one; Seisen no Keifu is a lot of people's favorite entry in the series as well as one of my personal favorites too, and I'm sure IntSys is aware of the former. That being said, there are certain elements I don't think will make it in this time and age, but that are nonetheless of critical importance to the plot of the game (mostly the incest bit). So this is how I think (or hope?) the remake could make it: Genealogy and Thracia chapters will be all in one game. FE4 and FE5 are games that complement each other, so much so it would be hard to sell them separately, as opposed to when they first came out, since Thracia was released 3 years later. Also, they're not really that long because of the limitations of the console back then, and this time the remake would be in the Switch. This is something I've seen done in other games, or like in the remake for Devil Survivor 2 in which they added a whole new arc where there was originally just one, so it is possible. I don't think the maps will be as big, although I actually liked that and would prefer it to stay. But generally speaking, people didn't seem to like that, so they'll probably make the maps smaller (I don't think they can divide them). This would also fit well with my two-games-in-one idea . They'll tone down the incest thing, maybe turning them into cousins instead of siblings, since the important part is the blood more than how closely related they are. Although, I know the cousins deal is taken differently according to the country and culture. Where I come from, it's whatever, kinda weird but not considered incest. There will be no mention of sacrificing babies. They'll probably change it to older children or teens. Nintendo isn't ready to mention babies or toddlers; otherwise, if we were to be realistic, Garon would have tried to kill Corrin off since the beginning instead of locking them up . As for the game mechanics, I think they'll stay the same and they'll blend some from both games, like adding that mechanic in FE5 about mounted units being on foot when inside a castle or similar. But how do you guys think it would go? would you like a FE4/FE5 remake? Or maybe you think it would never make it into existence?
  8. I figure this is the best place for such a technical question. In FE5, what happens when two units with Nihil plus some other skills fight each other. Does one character's Nihil cancel the other's Nihil, so one character's other skills can trigger, or do they block each other's other skills simultaneously? As an example, let's say you control a unit with Nihil and Luna. You are attacking an enemy with Nihil and Wrath. Nihil deactivates the enemy's skills, but the question I have is about whether Nihil will deactivate another Nihil, and the double negative allows things through. So I forsee several possibilities: 1: the attacking player's Nihil is registered first, and dectivates all the defending player's skills. Thus their Nihil never manifests and the attacking unit's Luna can trigger. 2: the defending player's Nihil is registered first, and dectivates all the attacking player's skills. Thus their Nihil never manifests and the defending unit's Wrath will trigger. 3: The Nihils will be registered simultaneously, and don't interfere with each other, so neither Luna nor Wrath will trigger 4: (Unlikely) the Nihils cancel and a double negative and both Luna and Wrath can trigger. Does anyone know which of these is correct?
  9. I started playing FE5 for the first time, and I knew that units supported each other when they were nearby, and it bothered me that I couldn't find a diagram that shows what characters supported who. And I would have to look up each individual character to find out supports. So I just said screw it and made this for everyone's convenience. Might do it for other games like FE3 too.
  10. I've been worried for a while that my attitude toward Fire Emblem has been negative especially about how good it is relative to other SRPGs, and so on. Beyond this, I've noticed that Thracia seems to have a divisive reputation, especially in two new threads, "The most underrated Fire Emblem" and "The best and Worst Fire Emblem gameplaywise" . I'm in an odd position in this kind of debate. I think that the first four games are the worst in the series, with Genealogy the absolute worst. However, when I played Thracia 776 three years ago (in the same marathon as the other games) I was impressed with it to the point of placing it as the 4th best game in the series. A lot of people argue about how hard it is (as they also do with Genealogy). While I think that Genealogy is on the easy side relative to Conquest, the DS remakes, Radiant Dawn, and even the GBA games, I believe that Thracia is legitimately a hard game. A lot of people claim that it is only hard due to fake difficulty. Some of the chapters in this game unquestionably do have fake difficulty. However, less is said about how other parts of Thracia 776 are hard in the "conventional" way. There are a lot of nasty promoted units, even in early chapters, GBA-style throne bonuses, and because of Thracia's weapon distribution, you encounter enemy brave weapons before the half way point (4 bosses at various points before chapter 16). Because of stuff like this, the general difficulty of the game can readily be compared to Radiant Dawn or FE6 HM, even if the fog of war and status stave chapters did not exist. I'm playing on the infamous "bad" fan-translation. Given that this is 2017, this may be one of the last times anyone ever uses this translation. Be prepared. In keeping with my intention in starting the LP, I plan on playing the game without the paragon mode cheat or any glitches. I hope to highlight that Thracia, despite it's reputation, CAN be an accessible game, and in order to do that, I will be putting a special focus on how you can manage your growth rates, get ahead of the expected resource curve, and use skill scrolls to your advantage. I might even intentionally leave some units behind on the first escape chapter to demonstrate how you can mitigate the setback that the mechanic causes.
  11. Enemy unit leadership stars Pros: Encourages you to approach combat differently, since assassinating enemy sub-commanders will allow you to debuff armies rather than fighting them at their full strength. Cons: Flat stat bonuses aren't always a good way to create a challenge. Especially in the case of hit and avoid. Fire emblem AI does not focus on walling off it's support characters. (although it's not a complicated AI to program as shown by games like Vantage Master). FE4 and FE10 use enemy's starting position to forcefully provide a simile of this, but they can be forced out of it far easier than a human or a strategy game AI would and make no effort to get back into this position once they get out of it. In some cases, if you can kill an enemy leader, then you are probably done with the map anyway (or 1 seize turn away), so sticking around to fight weakened becomes tedious and non-threatening. (grind abuse VS something like an early finish bonus) This can be avoided with larger maps or multiple bosses, but those open up their own problems. If the stat bonuses are too large then killing leaders overshadows all other aspects of the combat design (Ogre Battle SNES and N64 being examples of this) Visual confusion if you have enemies benefiting from both an overall leader and a sub-boss leader at same time, some units only receiving bonus from their own group, etc. Maps designed to allow for assassinations are often unnatural (even in other genres) and tend to go ham on player advantages or forcing players to follow a "script" Player unit leadership stars Pros: Encourages you to deploy units that you might not otherwise. gameplay advantages of more hit/avoid Allows a representation of charisma or tactical ability for characters in the story rather than the cursor and unit selector. Cons: In FE10 the effect was free and map wide, which allows for a version of FE 13-14's "backpacking" problem - leadership units could be deployed and left at your base or out of combat solely for the bonus with no risk and don't really add to the scenario. You don't need to position the leadership unit to get the advantage of the effect as with more conventional support bonus buffs or abilities like FE5's charm. (Or something like Langrisser's / Days of Ruin leadership zone) Protecting your VIP to keep the leadership boost as long as possible doesn't really add a gameplay dynamic in a FE context the way microing a "Stimpack" unit in a strategy game does. This is because of the encouragement to keep ALL troops alive, which means that most players will already be moving units conservatively to being with. FE10 overbalances the mechanic, to the point where it's possible to totally ignore it during a blind playthrough. If it was too beneficial, you would have a situation where players would feel obliged to always commit a deployment spot for these characters, which works against the freedom of army composition that Fire Emblem traditionally encourages. It's generally suggested to be placed on Lord units for story/flavor reasons, but in cases where those characters are force-deployed (a design choice of most FE games), it has no functional difference than having all the characters have higher base stats.
  12. Fire Emblem 4-7 Mod http://www.mediafire.com/file/6nvwbppt0c7e0to/emblem-kings-0.11.1.rar It is a blessing to see it finally leave Alpha and now populated.
  13. This is a sort of crosspost from FEU. I've been interested in learning about Thracia 776 recently, so I've put together some notes and I figured that it'd be nice to share them. I'll continue to update the file with as much as I find. Thracia 776 Doc I was working on an entry for MAFC using what I've learned, but the amount of knowledge required outran the research I had done, so I ran out of time. Here's a screenshot of my progress, if you're interested: Info on inserting maps will come soon. I'm still transferring notes into the stackedit document, and certainly still researching things. Anyway, if you have anything to add, please let me know.
  14. What if the fire emblem heroes were to fall and all their adventures were given to random people? The fire emblem has been corrupted by the presence of the fell dragons, now a lone group of adventurers must travel to the different worlds and pick up where the fallen heroes started. (roleplay is welcome to everyone, would prefer it if we roleplayed on discord. Canon and ocs are allowed
  15. When did you play this game the first time? How did you get introduced into this game? Do you play it on a rom, or do you even have a physical copy? Have you played it before or after FE4? Was FE5 your first FE game? How often have you finished the game yet? How many hours do you usually need to complete this game? Have you unlocked all gaiden chapters yet? Which three things do you really dislike? Would you like to see some unique mechanics like capturing and fatiuge (in main game) returning? Would you agree with that statement that FE5 had amazing potential, but didn't exhaust it completly? Would you agree with that statement that FE5 has the best gameplay ideas? Would you agree with the statement that FE5 is the most balanced FE game? How would you rank the difficulty in this game? Would you recommend someone to play FE5 blind? Which three advices would you give someone who will play this game the first time? Who's your favorite character personalitywise? Who's your favorite character gameplaywise? Who's usually your MVP in your playthrough(s)? What's your favorite chapter? What's your favorite map theme? What's your favorite battle theme (main battles, boss battles)? How would you rank the game overall from 1 to 10? Does FE5 need a remake? Does FE5 need a better translation patch? Could you imagine to replay FE5 sometime in the future? Answers
  16. It was kind of a thing in FE4 but just for Seilph but eh. Ok so the gist of Dismount in FE3 and FE5 is that mounted units could not ride indoors and were forced to dismount, they took some stat penalties and were forced to use Swords or (if they were mounted bow users) Bows. in FE3 this method worked better imo because weapon rank was a stat and not divided between different weapons, thus not being a massive crippling blow to mounts, although the final chapters in both Book 1 & 2 can severely weaken your party as a good chunk of the best units in the games ARE mounted, (more so in Book 2, as in Book 1 a number of the best fighters are your Heroes). in FE5, you had individual ranks which could really hurt units like Finn who could only use swords dismounted so the only way he could get this rank up would be to grind dismounted, and could call some balance into play such as Dean having amazing Sword & Lance ranks both. Something else to note is that FE3/5 only had caps (besides HP) at 20 so stat scaling would definitely be a factor if it were to ever come back. Its one of my favorite oldschool FE mechanics and I feel if it were refined properly it could be used in the modern age as well, or heck even in an "echoes" styled game they could probably try it there too. What are your thoughts on dismount?
  17. I didn't know where to post this, so I guess I'll make a new thread? Anyway, I complied all of fe5's portrait pointers and address into a spreadsheet. I know plenty of this information was in the binary files, but I figure this is easier to read (plus I haven't seen documentation on the pointers)
  18. I feel like you all have been waiting enough. If you happen to frequent FEU or you've been vigilant here on Serenes Forest, you might have seen some Thracia notes or screenshots. I'd like to give you all a taste of what I've been up to. Zane's Thracia 776 Menu Translation More information and a download link is provided here Patch is for an unheadered, unedited FE5 ROM. Please, as always, reply soon
  19. So recently I purchased the Fire Emblem Memorial Book for the Archanean FE games, containing a nice collection of Art and information, and wanted to know if one such book exists for the Jugdral games?
  20. If you are one of those special people that managed to buy an NES Classic this past year, then I have some good news for you. In the past few months, applications like Hakchi and RetroArch allow us to put any NES, SNES, GBA, and many more onto our NES. Now it is possible to play Fire Emblem 1 all the way through to 8 on your television. Of course you can always play emulations on your computer, but I've always enjoyed playing NES and SNES on the big screen. The menu music now is the 8 bit FE theme song. I'm thinking about making an entire FE theme for the NES Classic. I hope this thread inspires someone else with a mini to download the FE titles. This tutorial is not mine, but it is the best one out there right now. NOTICE*- The GBA games (FE6, FE7, FE8) require a Wii Pro Controler if you would like to enjoy the full experience. It is still possible to play them, but the NES controller does not have bumpers.
  21. HELLOOOO Serenes Forest! Welcome to the Serenes Forest Smash & Gaming Discord Server's THIRD (3rd) FIRE EMBLEM TAGTEAM EVENT! Four tagteams this is not, neither is this only two. Five is right out. Following on the heels of our massive success with Blazing Sword, and our amazing randomized Binding Blade tag-team (Roy is so bad that when he promoted the game crashed irretrievably), we decided to move onto the most beloved Fire Emblem in the series, and @Jedi's personal favorite, Fire Emblem: Awankening. Unfortunately, we can't transfer save data for 3DS games very easily, so we agreed that it would be the best to the second best game in the series: Berwick Saga. Which of course is why we're not doing any such thing, and instead settled on Thracia 776, which half of us have never played before. We have a record-breaking NINE players signed up for this, which was almost going to be an issue until @Batter the Beast started talking shit about fruity cocktails and extolling the virtues of rum instead. Of course, I, a gentleman, could never stomach playing on the same tagteam as such a philistine, so I cast him out of the group entirely. Unfortunately, I didn't realize that @Terrador, @Lord Raven, @ίce, and @Carmine Sword were also entirely lacking in moral fiber, and they left along with him to form a team of degenerates. On the side of justice, sugar, and delicious mixed drinks, I, @Euklyd, am joined by @Jedi, @General Horace, and the leading man, @Refa. The rules are as follows: Screw over your own team as much as you like, but do try to actually finish the run. The other team is full of soulless heathens, and as such must be fucked over as best you can manage. To facilitate this, each team's players will be matched with chapters by the opposing team (details below). Don't fuck this up and break the ROM this time, you nerds. This is a serious competition, and as such should be taken completely seriously. No fun allowed. Each player can declare one (1) safe unit, which shall be safe from death at the hands of their teammates. You can only declare units that have already been recruited as safe. Chapter picking process: There are 33 chapters to select from. All gaidens are forced. Chapters 16A/16B and 17A/17B are drafted together; you don't get to choose which route the other team does. The selection order for each team is as follows: TEAM RUM: Carmine, Batter, Raven, Terrador, Ice TEAM COCKTAIL: Jedi, Refa, Horace, Euklyd The way this will work is that Carmine will pick a chapter for Jedi, then Batter for Refa, then Raven for Horace, then Terrador for Euklyd, then Ice for Jedi again, etc. etc., and vise versa for how Team Cocktail picks for Team Rum. LET THE ODDS MAY BE EVER IN YOUR FAVOR disclaimer: i may or may not have written this post last night while drunk i blame jedi for everything EDIT: Refa points out that the scientific name for "team cocktail" is actually #TEAM SEXY BITCH, however we must be eSports about this and so will continue referring to ourselves as #TEAM COCKTAIL
  22. There is a article by Pukachi, but I don't know how to use it, thx!
  23. Any tips? I heard it's the hardest FE game, but eh I think I can handle it. I think
  24. I don't know how it's handled so I have to ask which weapons and items I will get back from the chests in chapter 4? I gave Leif the flame sword at the end of chapter 3, but he didn't get it in any of the chests in chapter 4. Edit: I found it out meanwhile how the filling of the treasures in chapter 4 works. So please lock or delete!
  25. Welcome to Fala Scans' work on the FE5 manga! This manga gets to around chapter nine character + event wise, give or take, with a lot of things excluded and replaced or simply left out due to the low volume count. These books are slightly short of 200 pages per book. Please enjoy! Edit: I do need to include the cover and stuff still. Forgot about that. As usual. Volume One: Chapter 0
