  1. So, eh, I'm going to LP FE7, using only units with some kind of head decoration? I will probably not be attempting for LTC. *Lyn Hard Mode, Prologue I hope you enjoy it!
  2. Mr.Night here with another LP for a fe7 hack. which one? Project dondon this time. Why? because back when I was lurking the forums, I have heard of this hack and how hard it can be. since I am a sucker for all games hard, I naturally wanted to play it. played the first chapter and lost 3 fucking times. I just had to LP so once more y'all can enjoy my suffering. Dondon has told me there is only 4 and the chapters get worse in design but I still think its worth playing and will keep that in mind as I play. so for this run, yolo standards which means no savestate. Edit: rage, pure savestate abuse rage because this game is a middle finger to vanilla gba rules Now let's begin. Ch. 1 pt 1, Learning how to LTC Deaths: Night (+3 offscreen), Lucius (+1)
  3. So my headcanon concerning the avatars of FE is this Fire Emblem 7: The Avatar is the same as in Awakening New Mystery: is a unique individual not appearing in any other game Awakening: Is the exact same person who appeared a few thousand years earlier in FE7... I'll explain my theory as to how this is possible below Fire Emblem 14/if: Uncertain, looks 99% probable to be a new character My headcanon is that when Avatar's mother spirited her child away from Validar, she fled into the outrealm gate. The pair was sent through time and space, ending up on the continent of Elibe some time before FE7. This is why Validar never found the Avatar. The Avatar studied strategy, magic, and swordplay, becoming a master strategist and fighter. Eventually, Lyn finds the Avatar lying face down in a field, and the two journey together and Lyn returns to her grandfather. Some may not know this, but if you skip Lyn's story the player's character will not be present. Instead their lines will be replaced with comments from Marcus and other characters. You'll lose access to the Avatar Affinity bonus and the Afa Drops, though, so there's no practical reason to do so. It's my headcanon the avatar canonically accompanies Eliwood on his quest. Even if he doesn't appear in Eliwood or Hector mode, Lyn mode is 100% canon and the "adventures" the Lyn einherjar refers to specifically, although again, I reason the avatar canonically accompanies Eliwood. After the Avatar departs from Eliwood and naming his/her godchild Roy, he/she returns to his own time period in the world of Yllise and eventually becomes Grima's host, although by will or not I'm uncertain. It's possible the premonition at the beginning of awakening was in fact a memory in the Avatar's subconsious, and he/she never became Grima by will. And then the events of the bad future happen, the Avatar is split into two, Chrom finds the good avatar in a field, and Awakening happens. Are there any fallacies in the order of events...? Let me know what you think of this headcanon.
  4. I was playing a hector mode fe7 run, and i was reminded for how the effectiveness coefficient (the value that weapon might is multiplied by during a successful attack) was 2 in the English localization of this game, as opposed to 3 like in the Japanese version or in most other FEs. This is a significant mechanical change, given the relatively large number of effective weapons in this game. Why do you think the localizers did this?
  5. Okay, so I replayed Sacred Stones for the 50th time and had a couple of ideas running through my mind. How about this; a hack that imports mechanics from FE8 straight into FE7? And I don't mean literally everything hence my idea's already a bold enough statement, but think about it. -Multiple promotion options. -Rebalanced stat caps for classes. (assuming FE7's were flawed in any way) -Eliwood and Hector's stories crammed into one giant adventure, with the Gaidens about a whole other perspective. (much like Chapter 5x in FE8 where you get to play as Ephraim while Eirika's on her way to his aid) -Trainee classes for FE7 units that needed babying in the original. (Nino... uh, who else again?) -Nerfed weapons/tomes. (I highly doubt it; Luna sucks in FE8 as it does lol) -The freaking option to promote the main lords at any point and not in a cutscene. I'm kind of running out of ideas. I'll leave it up to you amazingly talented hackers to decide whether or not this'd be a hoot to work on.
  6. Okay, I'm working on a hack of FE7, and I'm trying to give Nils & Ninian Dark Magic. The animation works just fine, but the game freezes as soon as the battle scene ends. The music still plays, but I can't do anything.
  7. I'm working on a mini-hack for FE7 for practice and I want to make it so you don't have to choose between Harken and Karel, does anyone know how to remove the conditions for those two to appear at the end of turn 9 in the chapter they appear in so they both show up?
  8. So recently I've been playing through FE7 on the Wii U and have been enjoying the hell out of it but I have to ask does anyone know of the difficulty being lowered? I seem to remember them lowering the difficulty of Metroid Prime 1 and 2 on the Trilogy release and it wouldn't suprise me if they did the same here. It just seems like I get ALOT more battles in my favor landing hits at like 53% and such. Granted random bs does happen like Erk getting crited against a boss with a 1% chance. However, it just seems this game is alot easier than it was on the GBA leveling up in particular is far easier than I remember with most characters needing at most 2 kills (most of the time just 1) to level up. I'm playing on normal mode as its my first time through on the VC version but still it just seems easier. I could of just gotten better as when I first played it back in 2003 I had no idea what I was doing and made alot of errors like overusing Marcus and not leveling up the lords since I was afraid of them dying. So it could be just me.
  9. Introduction I’ve seen some question topics pop up over the last few months regarding the world map in FE7. I’ve also had a few folks ask me personally about how I went about inserting my own into The Road to Ruin. This tutorial will guide you through the process of inserting your own world map into a FE7 ROM. Before I start, I’d like to give a shout-out to NomadicTrooperGirl, who provided some great documentation in here. Any offsets I post for images or palettes in this tutorial, I got from there. Thanks! Overview Tools we’ll be using: Usenti GBAGE Hex Editor Concepts you should be familiar with: Palettes Offsets Hexadecimal numbers Okay, so when I say “World Map”, there’s an important distinction to be made, since there’s really 3 different world maps the game uses. The map of the entire world of Elibe (I’ll call it the “Full View Map” from now on). The “zoomed in” map that covers Lycia, Bern, and Sacae (I’ll call it the “Zoomed In” Map). The “zoomed in” map that covers the Nabata desert. I don’t have any information about the Nabata map, since I’ve never really needed to do anything with it. If someone’s got notes on it, please post them so I can add it to this tutorial (with credit, of course). Important Note: When I learned how to insert the Zoomed In map, I initially had a lot of trouble trying to get palettes to work. I found out that the problem was that GBAGE was reading in .png files in a way I wasn’t expecting. The Zoomed In map needs to split into several pieces in or for it to be inserted. If a section didn’t use all of the colors of the palette, GBAGE would inappropriately assign the image a subset of the palette. However, when I converted my images to .bmp, everything worked fine. So, for this tutorial I really recommend saving your images as .bmp. Table of Contents Inserting the Full View Map Inserting the Zoomed In Map A Quick Word About World Map Events Alright, that’s all for this tutorial! Feedback is appreciated. If you got stuck somewhere or would like me to expand on a certain part of the tutorial, feel free to post about it here. Side note: This tutorial ended up having exactly 42 images. Very appropriate :B
  10. Hello everyone~! I decided to play this game thanks to recommendations of others! I do not have much of a history to speak of. Started the series with Awakening a few months ago and cleared L+ with it. I'd say my skill is decent/average. Now for my question: I have literally no clue how to play FE7, and since it is quite old now, I figured there might be some gimmicks which influence the way one experiences the game (game mechanics/gameplay related/weird AI behaviour)? Are there units which I should stay away from, or are there units which get hopelessly outclassed later on, to the point of making you think "If I had known Y exists, I would have never bothered training X". It's not that I'm asking for a tier list. I tried solving these questions on my own, but didn't read the few threads I found on the topic too much (out of fear of getting spoiled). If it is not too much to ask for, could you please give me a little guideline? Even if it's very generic, I can still work with it!
  11. Well today, I'm starting to attempt something I've long wondered if it was possible. A lords only playthrough of LHM and HHM of FE7. The rules are simple. The only units allowed for use are Lyn, Eliwood, and Hector. Other units must be benched tho the lords can trade with them for their weapons. Well, just finished chapter 1 of LHM and Lyn is already at level 4. is this playthorugh possible or am I wasteing my time.
  12. I have no idea why I am doing this But I am LHM>HNM Because I suck at video games [spoiler=Prologue] Derp Derp this is a game My soul hurts to do this Oh dear the hardest part of this game I wonder... Hopefully this will make the game dialogue funny so I don't have to This can only end 1 of two ways. Aaaaand looks like it's the first one. Lucas? Haru? Yasu? Leo? Only certain people would get this and if you do go die. No I am A Person. No I'm not I am a Person. The sound of my heart dying from this. Oh no I am so scared I have never seen this before. Why do you have to stop them exactly? *ding* Okay it really is making the dialogue great. I prefer the term "I send you to murder people" Settings! Animations! Color! *ding* This is what Lyn said to do right? Fast forward because this is boring. Lyn why did you dodge you NEVER dodge here. I have no idea. So it's THAT kind of run is it? Please don't be Forde. I really don't want another Forde. If you get THAT reference you have known me forever. Okay just let me sleep here and wait stop dragging me. This can only mean 1 of two things happened. By war she means sex. By travel she means I'll let you decide. No I don't I don't care RIP Look how much I care. Hint: I don't. If you say so. I never agreed to any of this. I highly doubt this. kinky.jpg
  13. I am modding my Fire Emblem 7 game for an enhanced experienced. I added a few difficult maps as well as 4 new characters to recruit. Otherwise, the game remains pretty much the same. Because of the added characters, I had to rejigger some of the supports conversations. This is where I am having problems. I have noticed that certain support conversations (the textual part) will not load during battle. Basically the characters trigger the support, the support successfully increases in rank; however, the text is missing entirely. I noticed this happening with several character such as Sain and Kent's support, which I didn't think I touched. I also confirmed that Lyn and Kent's support triggered normally as well as Lyn and Florina. At this point, I am not sure what the problem is or where it is happening. I am wondering if anyone ran into a similar issue and could point me in the right direction. Thanks!
  14. Fire Emblem: Mystery of the Emblem, did something that I always thought was brilliant: it included two "books," a remake of the first game and then a full on sequel, while the whole package was a refinement of the systems already established in the first game and (to a lesser extent) Gaiden. The idea of having the prequel and the sequel together in one place always delighted me, and, so, for someone looking to get his start with ROMHacking, a thought a neat idea would be doing the same treatment for Fire Emblem 6 and 7, where, instead of Hector's Story, you played Roy's Story, which was Fire Emblem 6. Mapping out the Chapters (including trimming Lyn's story down to 7+1 Gaiden chapter, 30 Eliwood Chapters in a mix of main, Gaiden, and A/B Route splits, and trimming off just one Chapter of FE6), not only is there enough room for all the Chapters from 6, there's room enough for one more chapter in FE7 to better tie the two together. However, there are other limitation concerns I was wondering about: 1. Character limitations. Counting Wallace/Geitz, Nils/Ninian, and Harken/Karel as one unit each, Fire Emblem 7 has 46 available characters by the Finale (45 if we consider Merlinus's lack of deployment and Athos's ability to deploy as them exchanging character limit positions). Applying the same to Lalum/Elphin, Echidna/Bartre, and Dayan/Yuno, Fire Emblem 6 has 50 available characters (51 if we count Merlinus). Is there room enough in Fire Emblem 7's ROM to accommodate 50/51 available, deployable characters? What's the hard cap for available characters? 2. Speaking of Character Limitations, while you'd never have them all in one room, that is still 103 individual recruitable characters, not to mention all the new bosses (even if we trimmed out all the Monke's down to 1 in the Sacae Route Gaiden Chapter). Can the ROM support all that character, unit, and portrait data, let alone potentially 7 new playable characters (5 NPC's and Bosses promoted to playable in FE7, 2 NPC's/Bosses in FE6)? 3. Support Limits. Restoration Queen ran into technical problems with FE8's ROM, working around new paired endings, that some of the originals had to be cut. A potential "Elibe Book 1, Book 2" project would have all the supports from 7, AND from 6, AND all the endings from both (the shortened endings would obviously be cut, but that's still all the full character endings). What are the hard and fast limits on new supports and new paired endings (if, say, one of the new playable characters had a support and paired ending with one of the original characters?) 4. Would it just be easier to remake both FE7 and 6 in Microsoft XNA like FE7x is doing? It'd technically be more work but there would be so much hardware room to work with?
  15. Hey, so quick question. How do you change unit's classes in fe7? I've tried, but it didn't work. I'm using Nightmare 2 on mac.
  16. just wondering, if FE6-8 run on the same engine why can't all of the games link up for the battle arena?
  17. Hello everyone! As the thread title would lead you to believe, I'm curious as to what everyone's favorite complete rom hacks are. I only just discovered rom hacks recently and absolutely love them. The one problem I've had is finding downloads for the complete versions of the ones I don't already possess (The Last Promise, Sacred Contention, Matthew's Nightmare). I've been to the FEShrine, but the links in their directory usually lead to threads with the unfinished files. So, in addition to telling me what your favorite romhack is, if you could also link a download of the completed version I would really appreciate it. Thanks in advance for sharing opinions and suggestions on this matter.
  18. So a while back Loca asked how to create FE7 hacks since he wanted to rebalence the game. I told him it wasn't that hard and I could do it myself with ease. So now this is a thing. We're going to play it, probably slowly, and playlog it here. I'm not going to make the patch public until I'm certain I remembered everything. Loca will post the Prologue later. (LHM/HNM by the way)
  19. I'm (sort of) new to hacking roms, so, sorry if this is basic stuff. I'm making my own Fire Emblem 7 hack, and I am having trouble with Chapters 1 and 2. I made my own custom maps for both chapters, including the Prologue. The prologue runs fine, the map and events go perfectly, but chapters one and two are different. Chapter 1 connects to both the prologue and chapter 2 perfectly. You can win and go to the next chapter, so all is well. Anyways, I inserted the map for chapter 2, and the map for chapter 1 stopped working. The offsets are completely different, and I made sure that both event offsets and map offsets are for their respective chapters. When I assemble the events and insert the map for chapter 2, chapter 1's events and map stop working. But when I try to fix that, Chapter 2's map gets messed up, even though the events are fine. If I fix one, the other is messed up, what could be going wrong? Also I used Tiled to insert my maps. My apologies if this has been asked before, but I've looked for help everywhere, but to no avail. Thanks in advance.
  20. So, i have all the programms that i need i guess. I know that i can change names in nightmare, but it's coded, i guess we need to use WindHex here, but i don't know what i need to change actually. Didn't found this chapter in Ultimate tutorial, that's why i am asking.
  21. So I was playing Eliwood Hard Mode on chapter 25, and then I saw this. I literally made this account because of it. There's this myrmidon here, nothing special, but the next picture is just strange. He is wielding, out of all things, a horseslayer. Has this happened to everyone or is this just some bug that I have encountered? I tried searching for it in the forums or on Google but I didn't get anywhere. As far as I'm concerned, I didn't encounter this bug until I played Eliwood Hard Mode for the first time. If this happened to everyone, I'm sure somebody would have noticed it, but for now, it's just a funny myrmidon holding the wrong weapon.
  22. When trying to insert my events into an FE7 ROM, I get this error. I've been trying to figure it out for a while now but I'm still lost. Can anybody explain what this means (as in what it's saying I screwed up?) Finished. 1 errors encountered: Exception: System.Collections.Generic.KeyNotFoundException: The given key was not present in the dictionary. at System.Collections.Generic.Dictionary`2.get_Item(TKey key) at Nintenlord.Event_Assembler.Core.Program.Assemble(String inputFile, String outputFile, String languageName, ILog messageLog) at Nintenlord.Event_Assembler.UserInterface.MainForm.<.ctor>b__1(Object sender, DoWorkEventArgs args) No data written to output.
  23. New promotion table of FE7. This patch will allow the module to be promotion table editor. Using this patch, each promotion can have its own requirement level. Still, incomplete battle animation of a class will cause a glitch(for example, promoting Druid into Paladin). This patch uses 0xD90000. This module doesn't make an item into a promotion item but change the result of the promotion. Download here
  24. Hello there! I'm Mr. Iggy Koopa, and I'm going to do a Lyn Normal Mode-Eliwood Normal Mode run of Fire Emblem! Why? Because I'm using a clean rom, and because I've never finished Fire Emblem, so it will be a bit of a blindish run. However, I hope you enjoy this run, and have a fun time reading it. [spoiler=Prologue: A Girl from the Plains and the son of a God.]Anna: Good morning, Vick. Happy birthday! Vick: Thanks, mom. You know, I find it weird that I'm your son, and you, the Random Number Goddess are my mother. It's... Awkward, if I do say so myself. Anna: Oh, shush dear, it's fine. By the way, I guess you know that now that you're 16 years old, you can either-- Vick: Explore the world you control with your powers, or remain here until I die. Yeah, I know about that. And I'd like to see this world. Anna: Oh, really? Well, in that case you'd better be prepared: This world is filled with war! ...But I think you will survive. Probably because you're my son! Vick: ...You always have to pull out the war topic, right? Anna: Well, I AM specialized in war: I can decide if they hit, they miss, or if they can make a Critical Hit. Vick: Fine, fine. I get it. Just send me into this world. Anna: Oh, my! We're impatient, aren't we? Alright, here we go! But first... I'll have to give you all of the... tacticalness a War Tactician needs. Vick: "Tacticalness?" Jeez mom, you always have to invent new words every two minutes? Anna: There we go! Now you are a fully fledged War Tactician, ready to challenge what this world's numerous wars! Vick: Yes, but-- Anna: No buts! Now go! Vick: I was just saying th--AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHH!!!!! *falls* Anna: BEST OF LUCK, DEAR! WATCH OUT WHEN YOU LAND! *Later...* Vick: Ugh... My back... It hurts... Like a huge-ass rock came rolling back and forth behind me... Oh! You're awake, then! And I thought you were in a coma of some sorts... Hell, even dead! Vick: EYAGH! Who the hell are you?! I would say the same thing about you. anyways, my name is Lyn. I'm from the Lorca tribe. Now that you know me, what about you? You don't seem that you're from these parts, and that brand on your hand makes me think you have a certain bond with the gods... Vick: Well, I'm Vick. My brand on this hand? It's just a little thing that recognises me as the Random Number Goddess Anna's son. Anyways, where the hell am I? Lyn: Well then, you're in Sacae, a place well known for the plains, the tribes... and the nomads. Especially the nomads. Vick: Okay then... Got it. Say, I saw some dudes outta here, they looked very beefy, and they have axes. Are they your friends? Lyn: Hmm... Beefy... Axes... Eyup, they must be Bandits, that's for sure. Vick: Oh, I see... Because I saw one of them doing some weird-ass dance in front of a house... or tent. I dunno. Lyn: Oh, really? That's fantastic! I'm gonna chug up a sword on that son of a bitch. Vick: Damn girl, you sure? Wait, they're brigands. They have axes. And you have a sword. Swords beat Axes. Eyup, you can kick their butts. Lyn: Wait, you don't fight? Vick: Of course not! I'm Your Average War Tactician Bro! You know, the one that can guide your army and that shiz? Lyn: Oh. Okay then. Better than nothing, I suppose. Vick: Anyways... About these Bandicks, you... should just stab 'em, avoid their hits and kick that dude on the door's ass. Got it? Lyn: YOU SON OF A BITCH! *Runs for the Brigand* Vick... I think I'll count that as a yes. Batta: Who the hell are you? You think you're the best like no one ever was? Well too bad, because I'm the best like no one ever was! I'm the Lime Knight himself, the one and only, the amazing... BATTA THE BEAST!!! Lyn: Too bad you're kinda dead. So is your friend. Batta: *gasps* You killed Johnny?! HOW COULD YOU?! HE WAS LIKE A BROTHER! Lyn: Shut the hell up, you're dead now. Vick: Yeah, obey the green lady. She killed you. Batta: Avenge me, Johnny... Both Vick and Lyn: HE'S DEAD, YOU DUMBASS! *Later, that day...* Vick: ...And then, when that guy missed with a 99% hit, you know what happened to the other guy? Lyn: Nope! What happened? Vick: He hit with a 1% hit, and he critted too, killing the other guy! Lyn: *laughs* Really? That must be some bad luck for that other guy! Vick: You're joking, right? That was ridiculous when I saw it with my eyes! Now here I am, telling this story to you. Anyways, how about we make a journey where we discover you're a noble and you have an evil uncle that wants to get the throne? Lyn: As stupid as that sounds, why not? Vick: Good! Because you're kinda forced, too. Lyn: ... And we're done! If you wonder what levelup Lyn got, she got HP/Str/Skill/Spd/Lck. A good level in my book! Anyways, that's the end of the chapter, I hope you enjoyed!
  25. As stated in my previous PMU post, I'm doing a FE7 run, and since I like reading other people's LPs, why not try one myself. The Lyn mode stuff will just be levels and a few random things because its Lyn mode. Since this is my first one, go easy on me. Here is the team from PMU post (in no order): 1. Kent 2. Wallace 3. Guy 4. Lucius 5. Matthew 6. Bartre 7. Serra 8. Heath 9. Vaida 10. the lords obviously 11. Sain 12. Nino EDIT: 13. Karla (I'll see if I can work her in at the end) [spoiler=Prologue through Ch4 AKA The Great Bandit Massacres]The journey begins... Lyn with a nice first level up and I might be reconsidering being OK with Kent Lyn continues to win my heart as Kent continues to dissapoint. Hard to go wrong with Sex Panther, my super lame set up for defense, and Kent continuing to show me why no one likes him. I let Will and Florina do stuff just to make Lyn mode go faster, they will be benched in HHM. Also, Lyn is too good. Lyn continues to down the HGH and crits the boss on the first strike to gain some strength. Kent.............. -_- Next we should get Serra and Lucius (wooh) and hopefully finish LHM. (Sorry pretty dry read LHM is boring.)
