  1. The last of these polls: http://serenesforest.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=46464 http://serenesforest.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=46482 This time, it's Fire Emblems 11, 12 and 13. Shadow Dragon, New Mystery of the Emblem and Awakening.
  2. Hello everybody, I´m MisterIceTeaPeach. Seriously I came to the Fire Emblem Series acciendentally. In Super Smash Bros Brawl Ike was my favourite fighter but I didn´t know, who he was and in which games he appeared. Relating to Ike, Radiant Dawn was my first game of this series, I played. If I played it the first time I was peeved, because I didn´t understand the concept. Already in chapter 3 I had Game Overs and I almost gave up. But I took the time and used the tutorials (thanks Anna) to understand the concept of Fire Emblem. And now I´m really a fan especially of the based strategy concept, the stories and the character designs. So I played the previous part Path of Radiance, the GBA games, Shadow Dragon and finally Awakening. I really would like to try out Genealogy of the Holy War, Thracia 776 and Heroes of Light and Shadow, if I could get a translation patch. I was trying to do Awakening on lunatic, but I gave up. Now I´m doing Radiant Dawn on hard mode for the second time. It´s hard enough... I really look forward to this site and nice to meet you all!
  3. So, I had a few ideas about how to rewrite Awakening's plot to be less crap, and although a lot of them are still pretty vague and I've only made it through the first arc or so I'm gonna at least share them here anyway. Fair warning, the Grima and Masked Marth plotlines are changed significantly. And keep in mind that this is just my idea. You all can variously like or dislike it as you will. Firstly, the game would have a sort of more post-apocalyptic world, with ruins of the much more advanced societies of yesteryear scattered about the continents, although the course of technology was different from the real world's due to the presence of magic. (For example, mages and the like may have fired their spells from some sort of guns or something, and they may still!) The Risen would also probably actually be explained and still have ties to Grima, with some "Advanced" Risen actually being characters so the Risen chapters would no longer just be excuses not to have plot for a bit. Secondly, "Marth" would actually be two characters, one of them still Lucina, but the other, well... The plot would progress roughly as normal through to about Chapter 7, where the Hierarch (who would exist starting before that point and have an actual name and unique portrait) would instead survive (possibly slipping away in the chaos of the battle rather than being executed by Vasto at the start) and, rather than Emmeryn going back to Ylisstol like an idiot, would instead be captured as a result of the Hierarch (who would go on to be at the very least a miniboss, promoted to War Monk or most likely Sage by that point) ratting out her new position to the Plegians. Additionally, Emmeryn's sacrifice would likely be changed. Probably rather than just throwing herself off a cliff, she'd get in the way of something to save someone or... I don't know yet. Chapter 6's objective would be changed to "Defend Emmeryn for X turns" and Chapter's changed to "Escape OR Defeat Boss". Additionally, Olivia would be recruited upon completion of Chapter 10 rather than upon beginning Chapter 11. The concluding scene of what in the current game is Chapter 11 (not sure how the rewrites would affect chapter numbers) would be quite different. Instead of simply being supposedly killed in battle and that being that, Gangrel would instead flee into a nearby ruin complex, where Chrom and the Avatar give chase. Exploring the inside in search of their foe, they end up in a strange room with a several layers of broken, previously-securely-locked doors leading into a chamber containing a shattered tank, concluding with frustration that they've lost Gangrel's trail for the moment and starting to head back out of the building, before being cut off by a strange, dragonlike creature emanating "a terrifying pressure" or something, who attacks them in a playable hopeless (but non-Game Over-inducing) boss fight, after which the unconscious, badly-injured duo are found by Frederick and/or the Khans, who pursued them towards the ruins... considering his protectiveness, ol' Fred seems the more likely candidate for this, and Lissa probably tagged along as well. After the two are treated for their wounds, the timeskip transition would occur as normal. Perhaps there would be a couple of intermission chapters played as Gangrel before shifting focus back to Chrom and the Avatar. Gangrel would (quite begrudgingly on both ends) join up with the main group around the start of the Valm arc and serve as another Lord. Second Masked Marth would be the First Exalt, named for the legendary hero king (so he'd be called His Grace King Marth the Somethingth or... something) and Lucina's mentor from the future. He bears a strong resemblance to his namesake, save for striking red eyes (which are due to him as he appears in the story actually being reanimated as a Deadlord: Red is not his natural eye color). While Lucina wields the Parallel Falchion, the First Exalt carries Mercurius and is far stronger. He very well might be fought as a boss later, in which case (being essentially a Great Lord) he'd wield Gradivus which he'd drop upon defeat. He'd also most likely be a party member for a brief time, after which he'd entrust Mercurius to Lucina and Chrom. Some other ideas I had were Validar being descended from Merric and Elice and believing that this gives him claim to the Ylissean throne. He'd wield Excalibur, Goetia being Aversa's tome, and would drop it upon his final defeat. The "strange, dragonlike creature" is Grima, who was created during the war that ravaged the continent as a bioweapon to put a decisive stop to the fighting, which he accomplished a little TOO well, hence the state of the continent. Validar's and the Avatar's ties with him would be changed a bit and as such the choice during the end of the final chapter would be axed, along with the last arc being essentially entirely replaced with something else. Acquisition of Archanea's legendary weapons in general would be incorporated into the main story rather than strictly side content. A lot of these ideas are still rough, and I'm sorry about that. I hope I made enough sense voicing them, at least. [spoiler=Not really relevant but new character voice casting I guess]The Hierarch - Barry Yandell First Exalt - Spike Spencer or Johnny Yong Bosch Grima - Wendy Powell or Greg Ayres
  4. Second part of the other poll: http://serenesforest.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=46464 From the other poll, it seems both Judgral games are liked by 26 SF'ers, Mystery of the Emblem is generally well-received, Gaiden is doing decent too, surprisingly and the first game is viewed by the majority as Mediocre or bad. This time it's Fire Emblems 6-10. Binding Blade, Blazing Sword, The Sacred Stones, Path of Radiance and Radiant Dawn.
  5. I've been thinking about using Ricken on my Hard Mode file lately. I've played Awakening before but never used Ricken. How is he as a unit? His main competition is Miriel. EDIT: Wow spelled would wrong. I'm so proud.
  6. So as the title suggests, I'm looking for the best pairings/marriages I could do for Fe:A. I'm not planning to do DLC (not yet, anyway- maybe after I beat all classic modes for Hard and Lunatic) so please don't include the options that's only available with DLC. I understand that there are tons of forums and guides asking for the same thing but I eventually got tired of shifting through pages and pages to find my optimal pairings. And no one seemed to agree on specific pairings except some :/ I don't mind grinding to level up and get specific skills cause I want to make all my units the best they can be - I'm sort of OCD that way xD The pairings that I think are good and decided are in bold and the rest are my thoughts so please provide opinions^^ It would be great too if you could give me some ideas as in what skills to pass down. Chrom and FeMU – Pass down Rightful King and Galeforce/Ignis for Lucina, Aether and Galeforce/Ignis for Morgan Stahl and Cordelia – Pass down Aegis and Galeforce Gaius and Tharja - Pass down Lethality/Counter and Vengeance Henry and Sumia – Pass down Vengeance and Galeforce Ricken and Miriel – Pass down ? and ? Libra and Olivia – Pass down Renewal and Galeforce Gregor and Panne – Pass down Sol and Beastbanes Nowi and Donnel – Pass down ? and ? Kellam and Sully – Pass down ? and ? Vaike and Lissa – Pass down Counter and Renewal Lon’qu and Cherche – Pass down Astra and Swordbreaker Frederick/Virion and Maribelle – Pass down Luna/Prescience and Galeforce What else was there? @_@
  7. Hello, welcome to my LTC playthrough of EHM. These are the rules: 1. The game will be played on EHM, skipping Lyn Mode. 2. Gaidens can be visited but ideally they're going to be skipped. 3. Minimal arrow drawing, if any. Although replaying a chapter to get a more favorable outcome can be done. That's about it, really. Here's the first chapter: Playlist: http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLOyEd86YwZldAAn4O5nKO9Rn8Z4IVRJOz
  8. weell, im currently playing FeA with a male avatar, but the problem is idk who to pair him with, any suggestion? :)
  9. Hello! This here is a thread I started to discuss and help refine ideas I had for an FE game. So, why don't I start out? My plot frame: You have a Mercenary band, whom are hired by a kingdom (Lanex) to help them avoid being conquered by a neighboring kingdom (Akur) who is currently kicking their ass. Events ensue and we see that the king of the Akur (Albin) has a talented warrior and tactician (Cyth) leading his army, whom also seems to be very secluded. The player army eventually leads a counter offensive against Akur after being typical FE protagonists and kicking everyone into ash. In one timeline (ah la Awakening), the army goes in and defeats Albin, but Cyth starts a trap, incapacitating the mercenary force and allowing him to take control of Akur and lead a yet more successful military campaign, taking over the continents and (when they attack him once again) killing the original generation. This leaves the second generation alone in a desolate future, where the children, resorting to underground tactics, can barely put up a fight and are soon defeated by Cyth who, testing the power of a new incarnation of the Fire Emblem (Dark Emblem, a treasure hidden within the castle of Akur from a war many centuries ago), fucks up time itself and sends the children and a bunch of other things back to the past, just after the start of the original quest. The break in time causes a similar reaction to occur with the Dark Emblem in the past, and now a whole new chain of events have been set into action to motivate the rest of the game. Well, that was the basic outline of the plot. Of course, it's devoid of a ton of details, backstory, and the extensive character list I created (as well all the gameplay ideas I had), but I thought it was a good way to break the ice. So please, tell me what you think of this and any future updates I may have. All constructive criticism in great appreciated!
  10. If you're a fan of Fire Emblem music, check out this podcast, which discusses and analyzes music from almost every game in the series. From the first game on the Famicom, all the way to Awakening. Enjoy! http://supermarcatobros.com/2013/11/03/episode-84-fire-emblem/
  11. Hello, everyone know that Awakening has terrible multiplayer and for sure many people would like to face each other army against army, like in Shadow Dragon. Do you think is producer planning to add some multiplayer maps to Outrealm Gate? Something like Multiplayer Pack, for sure everyone would purchase it. And if not, is there a way to ask, or even write petition for it, if a lot of players would sign it?
  12. Okay, so I realize that this isn't the first time this has been posted about, but for some reason this old bootleg Fire Emblem game caught my eye. I was able to track down a ROM of it and start playing it a little. I don't really fully understand the way the game is structured, but I did take several screenshots of it. I'm kinda curious what the characters' names are (although I've heard the main hero is just "Marth" despite looking like a blonde Leif), so if anyone who knows Chinese can provide translations of any of this, however basic, it'd be much appreciated. [spoiler=Screenshots]The title screen. The main title and subtitle are actually pretty nicely animated which is neat. Doesn't have the traditional Fire Emblem theme for this screen, though, which is kinda not surprising. Some intro snapshots. The text in this part goes by really fast; I dunno if it'd be easily readable even for a native speaker of Chinese. And now we get to starting a new game. This Shield of Seals pops up with some more of what I can only assume is expository narration. Here is, of course, Firstboss McBanditman, as per series standard, giving some cocky rant probably. Player and Enemy Phase banners. Basic map menu and unit command menu, respectively. Some snapshots of the battle preview and interface. Characters seem to have little damage knockback animations which the official series didn't have until Path of Radiance, so that's pretty cool. Also, the battle theme's cool, but the intro's kinda long so you don't usually get to hear much of the rest of the song, sadly. And finally, all the starting team's stat pages as well as a generic enemy's. Probably should've screencapped the boss instead but eh.
  13. I can't decide what I want to do with my female avatar, so I'd love to see what everyone else has done or is doing! What are the classes she has/she'll go through, the skills she has/she'll use, and what of her Asset and Flaw?
  14. I've played fire emblem at least 5 times over, I've played multiple different hacks of the game, I've experimented with different units, different tactics and I find it way too easy to play with the units I always use. Basically you get to have control over how bad I will rage (which is already a lot without this challenge). Now I want to be challenged by you guys. You choose my units and my chapter tactics (slight cringe when I typed that >_< ). Give me a character (Pick your personal choice of 7 units on the topic poll) and vote on a tactic. When I have 12 characters (including the 5 complusory units used at the end of the game [i.e eliwood, hector, lyn, athos, nils] so you basically get to choose only 7 units) and the tactic I will use for all chapters I will play the game and possible tell you about how badly I struggled on each chapter and how badly I want to punch my screen? Possibly? Anyways enjoy choosing, (I hope I have enough money for a new pc monitor by the end of this)
  15. I am a decent Spriter, or is it just recoloring? Ah either way, I have a story and most of the chapters down in my head and I've been trying to find someone who knows how to do a hack. So i came here because i know this is a great place to find help. Now I do have a friend who says he knows what he's doing but he wont actually do anything or actually get started. I really want to get this started and I need someone who knows what they are doing. Not that i even know how complicated this is or even how easy it may be I just don't want to lose the ideas I have.
  16. http://markyjoe1990.elementfx.com/fehack/ The Fire Emblem Hacking Community is disorganized as all hell, and I'm getting sick of it. So I decided to make a website dedicated to helping aspiring hackers obtain the best and latest tools, as well as the best tutorials. As you can see (at least on the current date: 11/19/2013), I've already done a lot of work, but there still needs to be things done. My current goals are as follows: - Add more tools and tutorials - Graphics and Palette editor programs and tutorials - Link to all documentation - Link to all animations - Extract the tileset configs, tileset graphics, and tileset palettes from each fire emblem game and provide it in the tilesets section. That way, people don't need to extract them from the games themselves - Get rid of other graphics unless someone made some for public use. If so, link to it and show screenshots. - Link all the fix patches, then link to the more optional stuff. - Get a BIN for the generic MIDI instrument set that's insertable into the game. - Link to all of Agro's GBA compatible remakes of other Fire Emblem songs. Future Goals: - Host/link to ROM hacks (or link to their blogs/websites), complete with a rating system. - Allow people to register on the website, log in, and submit hacks, reviews, LPs, ratings, hacking content (Like custom tilesets and music), etc. Ultimately, I guess the goal of this website is to eliminate the need to surf several forums and websites to get everything to need to hack, as well as just unify the hacking community so that they don't have to post their stuff on several forums in the first place. What I would like from the community is suggestions, as well as links to tools, tutorials, and other content that I may have missed. Here's to hoping my plan actually works.
  17. Best Handheld: http://www.computerandvideogames.com/joystick/game.php?cat=handheld&id=6 Game of the Year: http://www.computerandvideogames.com/joystick/game.php?cat=goty&id=887 I figured I'd spread the word here.
  18. So yeah, I'm a noob cause I didn't know you were supposed to have an introduction topic... Hello, Serenesforest forums! My name is LuigiandShadowGirl! My username comes from the fact that my two favorite characters of all time are Luigi and Shadow the Hedgehog. Please just call me Alison~ I'm a Fire Emblem noob, since I only started getting into the series the beginning of 2013 (thank Fire Emblem: Awakening). I've known what Fire Emblem is, thanks to Marth and other FE characters appearing in Super Smash Bros, but never had the thought to try it. That was a big mistake. Anyways, I thought I'd join because I could learn about the series more from veterans, and talk with others about videogames. Series I like include Super Mario Bros, Sonic the Hedgehog, Pokemon, Hetalia, The Legend of Zelda, Super Smash Bros, Fire Emblem: Awakening, and various others. My favorite FE:A characters include Chrom, Lon'qu, Gaius, Stahl, Lissa, Olivia, Nowi, and various others. I love to draw pictures, write stories, read books, and of course play videogames in my free time. Anyway, pleased to meet you!
  19. Why can Cordelia not at least have an A support with Chrom? I mean, at least to rest her heart easy about her undying feelings of love for him! Because, it seriously sucks that she's paired with someone else and then still clearly has feelings for Chrom! I understand that they're making a past reference to Shiida/Caeda, but come on! And let"s not even go into the fact that Sumia is the default wife of Chrom and supposedly a good friend to her! Does anyone else have anything to rant/justify about this predicament?
  20. I stumbled upon this video while looking through youtube to try and understand the story of these games and I came upon this brilliant video that really helped me.
  21. The title is pretty self-explanatory, but what new things could they do to Lord characters that you would like? I, personally, would like to be able to choose what weapon the Lord character could specialize in. It would also give the game more replay value and add more variety. Either that, or bring back multiple Lords with different weapons like Blazing Sword and Sacred Stones. If Intelligent Systems brought back the multiple Lords again, would you like them to have different backstories or characters that you recruit?
  22. so basically it is not letting me drag the rom onto the patch. the one that says drag clean rom here right? yeah it will not let me drag the rom. so basically they are in the same directory and everything. also i am using linux. my rom is 128 mb and i got it off emulator paradise.
  23. So! Since I was able to StreetPass so many people, I thought it might be a good idea to see if anyone else had gone to the convention, and maybe find out who got each other's teams or something. Firstly, if anyone got a low-leveled, purple-haired Erk lookalike named Turks, that's my character. I'll hopefully be distributing my female Avatar, little poofy-pink-haired Valentine, tomorrow. I was able to acquire a LOT of StreetPass avatars; so many that it apparently filled up my StreetPass box all the way. [spoiler=My list of recruited StreetPass characters]Maxwell ♂ (Dread Fighter) Phantom ♂ (Dread Fighter) Saffron ♀ (Bride) Robin ♀ (Grandmaster) Amelie ♀ (Paladin) Hikaru ♂ (Dread Fighter) Trevor ♂ (Trickster) Michy ♀ (Dark Flier) Coquille ♀ (Assassin) Thomas ♂ (Grandmaster) Meryl ♀ (Grandmaster) Eden ♀ (Tactician) Dosio ♂ (Priest) Mark ♂ (Mercenary) Lynn ♀ (Hero) Jinn ♂ (Assassin) Mic ♂ (Dark Knight) Lightning ♀ (Grandmaster) Ramune ♀ (Grandmaster) Galatea ♀ (Grandmaster) Peter ♂ (Dread Fighter) Solanin ♂ (Grandmaster) Tureil ♀ (Grandmaster) DAVID ♂ (Trickster) Doryu ♂ (Dread Fighter) Ryan ♂ (Grandmaster) Starbuck ♀ (Grandmaster) Thomas ♂ (2)(Grandmaster) Shake ♂ (Myrmidon) Lilith ♀ (Grandmaster) Lily ♀ (Grandmaster) Enemis ♂ (Grandmaster) Peli ♀ (Grandmaster) Muse ♂ (Tactician) Embyr ♀ (Tactician) Jonny ♂ (Tactician) Jethro ♂ (Tactician) This list includes only the characters I decided to recruit. There were several more who I found redundant/uninteresting and either bought items from or just outright dismissed. I'd be interested in seeing if the creators of any of these characters are on SF; I'm sure at least a few of them are.
  24. This has been a bit of an issue that has been in the back of my head for a while, but this is regarding to how Fire Emblem characters are. Presuming what we've been shown will be in the final product, there would have to liberties to make sure Fire Emblem characters feel just as versatile as the Shin Megami Tensei side. You might not think of it much, but there are a surprising amount of Lords that do function very similar to each other, which not taken into consideration could really lead to a dull roster of characters. It is in theory a very possible thing to do however, as shown to an extent with Fire Emblem: Awakening where the varies past characters were given more distinctive characteristics. I speculate that when this crossover comes out sometime in the future, liberties will be made for the sake of a much more versatile roster. However, what those liberties are is another question entirely.
