  1. So I did everything I had to so I could get Tatiana and Zeke, but after i cleared Nuibaba's abode and recruited Tatiana, I went into Jerome's map and Zeke still fought me. As far as I know i did nothing wrong and I shouldn't have to kill him. How do I fix this?
  2. So I'm trying to get back into spriting and am therefore trying to get the hang of making portrait hackboxes. These are sprites I made today with their attempts at a hackboxes. EDIT: The Ike sprite does use a portrait made by NickT. I am under the impression that its free to use, but am adding this not here so people don't think I'm plagiarizing or something. These are sprites I made about a year ago, and would like to turn into hackboxes but haven't yet. Any advice is appreciated.

  4. 'Ello everyone! So, a while back I made a post explaining that I had beaten every single Fire Emblem except for Fire Emblem Thracia 776 by now. I've really wanted to play this game, but I haven't been able to properly get it working. Lemme explain... So I use the following: - SNES9x version 1.54. - This base-game ROM: (snip) - This menu patch: https://serenesforest.net/forums/index.php?/topic/80126-fe5-unified-thracia-prototype-menu-and-script-translation-through-ch-3/ - Not relevant, but I will be using an online script from SF as well... Okay... so here's my issue. The ROM works fine, I can run it perfectly after downloading it. When I apply the patch, I am informed that it was successfully patched. Then I go to run the patched ROM on SNES9x and it simply does not open. It gives me the yellow error message... something along the lines of "bad_checksum." If anyone can please help me on this matter I would greatly appreciate it. Please just allow for another crazed Fire Emblem fan to finally beat the series... It's all I want.
  5. Right, so i just started Xenogears (surprised as to how smooth a ePSXe runs on my PC but it's not like Xenogears is that technically demanding) and....how do i play? Other than the fact that it's turn-based, i don't really understand this battle system. Any tips are helpful.
  6. So I'm currently working on starting a FE inspired D&D campaign with some friends of mine. I plan on using Roll20 as its an online game, and that enables my players to use Avatars. I have been making them mugs based off Official art from the in game characters, but some of the tweaks required for each character are beyond my ability. So if anyone would be willing to help me out here I'll share my requests. If nobody is willing to work on this for free I'm willing to work out a price for these 2 edits. Thank you :)

I keep running into snapshot errors around FE4 Chapter 7 on Snes9x and I was thinking it was possible So I can pick up from a specific part where I left off in FE4 on Higan emulator rather than deal with Snes9x's annoying snapshot error bug, does anyone know how to do that? It'd make my playthrough a lot more fun if i didnt have to replay huge chunks of gameplay even though i save state consistently.

    Help Needed

    Calling all spriters & sound designers! There have recently been a chain of supposed leaks about the upcoming 16th Fire Emblem game (Found here: ) The legitimacy of these leaks are questionable at best, so I thought it could become a fangame, I however, am not particularly good at spriting, and I know nothing about sound design. So I require help in those departments. The game will be developed on FEXP.
  10. Hello fellow FE mates! So, I just recently beat Fire Emblem: Genealogy of the Holy War. Now the only remaining game in the series that I have yet to play is Thracia 776, but I am having some serious issues finding a working ROM for it. So far I've downloaded four ROMs and all of them have either only been one part of the game translated. All I want is to finally say I've beaten the whole series. Can anyone guide this poor boy to a translation that at least has translated story/dialogue, items, options/moves, and character names? Some translations even mess up on the intro. The very first screen of text introducing the game will have a sentence that starts with gibberish letters like "rn." Anyway, it'd be greatly appreciated. Seeyaround!

I would Like to Preface that I'm hacking FE7 and that I have already repointed to Class table So, I've been having some trouble doing exactly what the title says, associating moving map sprites with a custom class, along with a couple of other problem related to custom classes, easily broken down, they are as follows: 1. In nightmare, when I try to add my custom class number to a class list(say, adding 0x65 to the Class List.txt) I find that it shows up in Class editor, and only Class editor, not even Character Editor, which is in the same folder. Am I doing something wrong? and how do I do it properly? 2. Using GBAGE, I have written over the Peer standing and moving animations with my own custom map and moving sprites. The moving sprite went fine, but I had to repoint the standing sprite, does this have any impact on how nightmare associates the peer with it's repointed standing sprite, or no?(as in, does night, mare still point to where the old sprite is, or where I repointed it to using GBAGE when I imported a Bitmap) 3. when I open nightmare(specifically the Class editor) and scroll down to my custom Class (0x65) I notice that there is a option for choosing the standing map sprite of the custom class, but none for choosing the moving map sprites, how should I go about associating the moving sprites with a new class? That should be it for now, I will add more questions relating to this topic whenever I get the chance. Note, Currently, problem number one is the one Im trying to solve the most, as I know ignoring it now will lead to me beating my head against the keyboard at a later date(though that is not to say that my head has not already made contact with the desk multiple times) Thanks in advance!
  12. Hi all, just want to preface that this is my first post on this forum, YAY! Anyway, on to the question, I was wondering if anyone could help me in the final steps of creating a new class. To be clear, I already moved to the class table and have no problem inserting any of my animations, I simply require some help on putting all of my stuff together in nightmare (funny, I thought nightmare was the easy part). All help is appreciated, thanks in advance! (And yes, I did read the ultimate tutorial, I need something a bit more in depth and handholdy because I'm dumb)

  15. Hi everyone, i'm new to Serenes Forest but have been on the Cipher discord.I have been playing Heroes since release and f2p. So far I have 25 five star heroes, with one being a duplicate Ninian. I also have been using Camus and Xander as four stars on my horse team. Here's the list: Alfonse: Neutral Marth: +Spd -Res Saber: +Atk -Spd Zephiel: Neutral Young Tiki: +HP -Res Celica: +Res -Def Leo: +Res -Atk Sharena: Neutral Brave Lucina: Neutral Free Choice Azura: Neutral Effie: +Res -HP Clive: Neutral Mathilda: +HP -Res Tana: +Atk -Spd Hinoka: +Res -Def Ninian: +Atk -Spd and +HP -Res Delthea: +Atk -Def Raven: +Spd -Res Hawkeye: +Res -Atk Hector: +Res -Atk Nino: +Spd -HP Takumi: +Res -Def Brave Lyn: +Def -Atk Maria: +HP -Atk (really only good for grinding, as well as my 1st 5 star summon) Overall the only bad things about my selection is the number of blue units compared to others as well as some IV's. I'll throw out some of my ideas and see what everyone thinks: Quadstrike Infantry Buffed Raven, Brave Lucina, Delthea, Azura/Ninian Pros: High Damage, Brave Lucina and Delthea can be good in battle as well Cons: Low defense, someone will die in Arena Tana or Dancer Armor Emblem Tana or Ninian/Azura, Hector, Zephiel, Effie Never tried this team out but could work, though Tana could die due to needing to fly ahead for Guidance. Horse Emblem Brave Lyn, Leo, Xander 4 star, Camus 4 star I have the buffs they want, but upgrading them and getting Raurblade+ for Leo is 60k feathers though the regular version works fine. This team could survive with Xander and Leo defending, maybe Camus having Renewal and Reciprocal Aid for Quick Riposte Leo. I can level a Reinhardt but my 2 aren't +Atk. Dragon Emblem Young Tiki, 4 star Nowi, 4 star Fae, Ninian Fortify Dagons sadly doesn't stack, but Ninian doesn't need the buff herself. My dragons don't have optimal IV's but would work. Renewal and Reciprocal Aid/Ardent Sacrifice? Hone Nino Nino, Alfonse, Sharena, Rallier Focusing on Gronnblade+, Nino could be pretty impressive, but not a Cecelia on Horse Emblem My Old Arena Team Delthea, Hector, Azura, Yong Tiki, swap one for bonus unit I lose against some Horse Emblem, especially Brave Lyn. Overall i'm happy with my units and this has opened me up to choices I've never thought about. I've been wanting to use Leo since I got him early on but never did. Wish I got Summer Leo but Celica showed up instead. I'd love to hear everyone's suggestions and their own personal teams as well. :)
  16. Do you ever have trouble making teams and getting good units? INTRODUCING... Axel's Team Building Guide! Basically, this guide will go through the steps to build a good team for your next playthrough. I'm going to go through how many units to have, good class diversity, etc. Anyways, here we go! Part 1: Amount of Units There's nothing more annoying than going through a game and realizing that you have to leave behind a unit you put hours into training for the final chapter. Always remember that the golden number is 12. If you don't know how many units you want, then just get 12. Not too many that you will have to leave one behind, or that they will fall behind in experience, and not too few that you can't handle the last few chapters. Personally, I recommend choosing the unit cap for the endgame. That way, you can have plentiful units and still be able to bring them all in. Which is probably why I don't like FE7 as much as the others, I hate those 5 must-brings. Part 2: Classes Alright, this part is where things start to change with the different class pools in the games, so I'll try to be as general as I can. Try not to have too many units of 1 weapon type. That will make you have a large disadvantage against a kind of weapon. Don't have too much of 1 kind of unit, or it will be hard to handle counters. Really, just pick what you feel compliments your team the best. Part 3: WHOMST Now that you know which classes and the amount of units you want, you need to decide who will fit those classes. This is the meat of any team building session. You have several factors to consider: When you get them, their growths, their classes, and (In the more recent games) their skill pools. Make sure that you don't get most of your units at the end of the game, as that will make the early a lot more difficult than it should be. Some units are just great all around, coming at an early, or at least not late part of the game, having great growths, a useful class, and great skills. Examples would be Miledy from FE6, Raven from 7, and the Avatar and Morgan from Awakening. Also, be careful if you have an Est character. They come late and start weak, but get incredibly powerful if you train them. I hope you all enjoyed my first guide. and I hope that it was helpful as well!

  18. This is long overdue, but I'm gonna play a Hard Casual (yes, I'm dirty) of this game and want you guys to pick who I'm gonna use! The team will be a max of 10 units first and second gen and who parents who in the second gen. Avatar and Chrom are exceptions. A child does not immediately mean their parent will be used, just supporting the other in free battles.

A couple years ago, I began working on a hack in which Guinevere was implemented as a fully playable character and can be played as for whenever she is with Roy, (So really everywhere but the Western Isles) but to be fully content, I have to add boss conversations. Somehow, I managed to create a boss conversation between her and Narcian about a year ago, and I've been pulling my hair out trying to figure out how to do it again. Not having her talk to Zephiel upon initiating combat with him would leave a bad taste in my mouth. And yeah, I know it could be argued that Guinevere fighting against Bern more actively is wholly against her character, but my Guinevere is a bit different from the canon one. (: I have a good amount of experience with Event Assembler, Mappy, Zahlman's Song Editor (lol), Nightmare 2.0, and FEditor, but I'm not sure where to begin anymore. I've gotten event editing down to a science (again, aside from boss conversations) and I know how to edit the text WITHIN the pre-existing boss conversations (ex. I can make Lilina talk Legance's ear off...) I just don't know how to create new boss conversations anymore. I want to finish this project, if only for my own personal satisfaction, though I do plan on publishing it upon completion. So, to reiterate, I'm hoping to add new, unique, boss conversations, but can't remember how to do that. I didn't want to have to ask, but i've about given up on the project and don't want to let it die quite yet. If anyone knows how to insert a new boss conversation somewhere in FE6, that would be a tremendous help. Thanks sooo much! Any little bit of knowledge helps. (:
  20. I'm planning on doing a Hard Classic run where I only use units that can be recruited from Ram Village and the Priory. The only exception will be the Prologue, in which I'll use Mycen. I'll fight enemies that I see in dungeons, but I'll try to avoid grinding beyond that. I plan on making Gray a Mercenary, Tobin a Mage, and Faye a Cleric. I'll recruit Kliff with Celica, where he'll be either a Mercenary or an Archer. I plan on making Boey into whichever of the two Kliff is not. Who should be the Mercenary, and who should be the Archer? I think Boey would benefit from being an Archer more because Hunter's Volley would make up for his poor speed, but I'm not sure. Also, should I make Mae into a Pegasus Knight? That might really help with all of the Terrors later on in Celica's route. Finally, should I reclass Lukas, and if so, what should I reclass him into? I'm thinking that it might be a good idea to reclass him into an a Archer for the same reason as Boey. Beyond that, do you all have any other tips?
  21. I've figured out how to extract the files from a .cia of FE Fates (I own a legal copy, 2 actually). But I'm kind of stumped on what to do next. I have the mods from RainThunder and it says to used the GameData.bin. I've found the GameData.bin.lz, and I try simply looking for certain hex strings without doing anything to it, but find nothing. When I decompress it and open it again in a hex editor, I only get 00s. What do I do to start the modding process?

I've only just recently picked up the use of Nightmare to make edits to FE6's relatively unbalanced nature, (yes, I know it's been done many times before,) and I've read through Blazer's guide on how nightmare works (only skipping information about music editing and the like.) I've been strugging to understand how I would go about removing Roy's forced promotion in chapter 21 / 21x and switching it over to chapter 16 / 16x. I assume it would have something to do with the respective chapter's events, but I am not sure how I would go about figuring them out. Of all the things I wanted to do to the game, this is the only block I've stumbled upon that I, as a newbie to the FE-editing scene, cannot figure out. TLDR: How would I move Roy's promotion in chapter 21/21x to Chapter 16/16x using Nightmare? And, if this is something that cannot be done in Nightmare, what programs do I need? Thabks in advance, sorry for the text mountain.

  25. Hello everyone! I have a question about save files and emulation and any help or insight would be very appreciated! Thanks in advance :) I'm doing an Ironman playthrough of Sacred Stones hard mode (playlist here if you're interested: With a suspended mission saved, I can't practice on this file or cartridge now because my understanding of the save system is that once you start another instance of a chapter or save file, you lose any suspended data. And I definitely want to practice the coming chapters for the next session, so there won't be a bloodbath haha. The obvious solution is for us to just meet up again, finish this chapter, and open up the cartridge again so I can practice for next month, but this got be thinking... Is there a way to create save files for an emulator of the GBA fire emblem with specified character stats? I've heard of something like this for Pokemon games, and wondered if it is possible or already exists for FE. Thanks for being my favorite community! -Vaughn
