  1. I would love to know the opinions you guys have of my families that I have on Fire Emblem: Awakening. Both romance and tactical wise. Please no spoilers for anything after chapter 13 D: MyUnit is called a female called Sabine. What is your unit called? Chrom x Sumia = Lucina + Brady Chrom x Sumia = Cynthia + Stahl x Sully = Kjelle + Owain Gaius x Cordelia = Severa + Donnel x Nowi = Nah + Libra x Tharja = Noire + Vaike x Lissa = Owain + Kjelle Ricken x Maribelle = Brady + Lucina Gregor x Olivia = Inigo + Frederick x Sabine = Morgan + Virion x Cherche = Gerome + Lon’qu x Miriel = Laurent + Kellam x Panne = Yarne + (Note: I've only got Owain, Brady, Inigo, Morgan, for boys and Lucina and Kjelle for girls so far children wise. Therefore their isn't many children pairings yet.) :) Thanks
  2. Supports are as much a staple in Fire Emblem games as the weapon triangle, but the marriage mechanic is much more novel. It not only encourages you to pair characters off, but it gives the game ridiculous amount of replay value. The question is; are we going to see it again? Is marriage now going to be a staple in Fire Emblem games? I mean, how marriage works in Awakening is extremely specific to the plot of the game: your characters marry to give birth to children that come from an apocalyptic future. Obviously, that can't be the scenario for every Fire Emblem after this one. Is there anyway or even any reason for IS to keep the marriage system instead of going back to typical supports?
  3. Like the title says, I've been thinking about what would happen if Chrom and Sumia could marry any first generation character. More specifically, what would happen to Lucina and Cynthia? With the new options for parents, what would be the optimal setup for them? I'd probably pair Chrom and Cordelia to fulfill rabid shipping fantasies, but I wanna know what you all think.
  4. I've seen a lot of marriages in Fire Emblem, but I'm curious why people marry certain characters. For me, in my first run, my female avatar married Chrom by accident because I didn't know that Chrom would marry avatar with an A rank at the tenth chapter. I sort of hate Chrom's desperation now. My second run with my male avatar was with Olivia because I found her to be a lot like me, shy and introverted, and she was nothing like most FE dancers, who I thought were all extremely vain(excluding Ninian who I grew up having her as sort of a role model because she was modest).
  5. Not sure if this has been made before or not, but one of my friends and I were talking about this earlier and I thought it'd be a nice discussion thread. (No bashing please. Let's try to act at least half our ages.) EDIT: Sorry, my brother decided to be a jerk and takeover my laptop when I was on the phone. -_-+ Feel free to delete this or whatever.
  6. Hey all, I was about to make a post within the pairing thread, until I read the OP. You see, my decision making for marriages in Fire Emblem: Awakening breaks down like this: 50% match-making 20% hair colour 20% skills 10% final class pairings 0% stats and growth rates (since I'm yet to understand them) The match-making part is very important to me from a storytelling perspective. I like pairings which feel like they make the most sense. While optimisation comes second best. So hopefully I don't offend the rules making this thread. Here's what I've settled upon so far, for absolute certain. Virion + Olivia = Inago [spoiler=reasoning]I've heard countless times how rubbish Virion is hehe, but I think he's got great character, so I want to use him. When I actually came across Inago during my first ever play-through of the game, I had no doubt that Inago was Virion's child! I was shocked when I discovered the delightful dark mage Henry and Olivia could spawn such a man of flowers. It was SO jarring for me. So next time, I have to put Virion and Olivia together. Who says his affections for Sully have to be successful anyway? In my narrative, I'll go with her being repulsed by him. This works out well for me anyway, because I like to put Virion on horseback with a bow, with Inago in support to finish the enemy off with a sword. Both in the Bow Knight class. Inago's just a little reluctant to follow his father hehe. For this pairing I'm not so bothered about hair. Though the glorious white hair inherited by Henry will be dearly missed. Frederick + Cherche = Gerome [spoiler=reasoning]Initially during my first playthrough I was kind of disappointed with my Frederick and Cherche pairing when I met Gerome. Frederick was a tough individual to pair for me. He was so duty bound and honourable. The support between him and Cherche felt like I finally found a realistic pair. Both of them dutiful and set on improvement and helping others. It was perfect. Until The Dark Knight Gerome came along. How could he be so stoic and cynical from such parents? It didn't make ANY sense. That is until I learnt how Gerome never knew his parents. His account of them going off to distant lands to help others and not coming back just completed the picture and provided a backstory for his bitterness. So my disappoint naturally subsided. I really prefer Gerome with dark hair too. Light hair, especially pink, looks dreadful in my eyes. He's just a dark character hehe. I'm going to keep Fred as a Great Knight, while letting Cherche and Gerome become Wyvern Lords. But they don't all need to have flying mounts, so that's alright. Henry + Lissa = Owain [spoiler=reasoning]Down sword hand! Owain's quirky personality had to be picked up from somewhere. I like to think Lissa was partially responsible, but not all by herself. The father has to be off his rocker as well haha. I prefer Owain to have light/blonde hair, so that narrows down the contenders a little. In my first play-through I paired Libra with Lissa. But the support conversations for Owain and his father were a little dull. Libra didn't really feel like the most appropriate father for Owain. Another choice would be Vaike. But who would Owain most likely inherit a screwball personality from? Well, it's the master of crows, Henry! I could imagine that family, Henry, Lissa and Owain living and being together, so that works for me. I intend to finish Henry with the Dark Knight class. He might not be able to deal dark magic, but he turns out to be quite good natured during the narrative. And my Henry was a real force of reckoning with his Bolaganoe and Valflame anyway. Meanwhile Lissa will be a Valkyrie. So they can fight the enemy on horseback together for me. Kellam + Sully = Kjelle [spoiler=reasoning]I have to be honest, I don't really like Sully. There's something about her personality. I don't really know what it is. Maybe the tryhard nature? Funnily enough, I actually missed recruiting Kellam on my first play-through and actually forgot about him quickly after the Longfort haha. But Kellam and Sully are both Shepherds, so it would feel reasonable for them to become close. Kellam is a Knight, same as Kjelle. I have a feeling that she followed in her parents footsteps to get there. I'll admit, I pick and choose when to follow the artwork for the children and when not to. My original pairing for Sully was with Virion to see what would happen. But to be frank, I really didn't like Virion's hair on Kjelle. While Kjelle's artwork has black hair. So using Kellam ticks the criteria for good hair hehe. Kjelle felt like quite a dull character. So Kellam, an outright blank character, would make for a suitable father. It also saves using a better character on Sully hehe. Together Kellam and Kjelle can be my walking tanks... slowly making their way through the battlefield as a pair of General classes. So Kellam and Sully equals K-jelly. Here's what I'm leaning towards. Probably about 75% certain. Chrom + Sumia = Lucina and Cynthia [spoiler=reasoning]In terms of the cutscenes, it seems like Sumia is the canon wife for Chrom. She is clearly affectionate to him (though this isn't something unique to her character), and saves his life on a Pegasus if I'm not wrong. In the menu cinematic for the game/trailer it looks like Sumia is the wife of Chrom holding the baby Lucina as well. So it feels like I'm supposed to choose Sumia to be Chrom's partner. It seems to work for Lucina. And Cynthia, when reclassed as a Dark Flier looks like she belongs to the family as well, with her blue hair and new dark blue attire. So it's all good and well for me. Though I have to admit, I am somewhat tempted to marry Cordelia and Chrom. The problem though; I can never picture Severa as the child of Chrom, or even the sister of Lucina. Lucina and Cynthia feel closer related. As if Cynthia could be the dopey little sister of Lucina. But with Severa? As Lucina's sister? It feels somewhat out of place. If Severa was really the daughter of Chrom, shouldn't she should be more concerned with changing destiny instead of her mother being so perfect. So I think I've gotta keep Sumia for this pairing. Chrom doesn't deserve a daughter like Severa. The Avatar + Lucina = Morgan [spoiler=reasoning]The potential in Morgan is too great to ignore. Out of all of the possible female partners, Lucina feels like the one I'm closest to as well. I've tried marrying Lissa and Anna, but wasn't satisfied with the love confessions. So I ended up marrying Say'ri the first time. But in hindsight, it was a waste of what could have been. Sorry Say'ri. I guess I'll tag you in with Yen'fay or Tiki sometime! I can't wait to experience how dramatic Lucina's realisation of the avatar as Chrom's murderer will be either. Donnel + Nowi = Nah [spoiler=reasoning]During my first play-through, I put Gregor and Nowi together. Solely because that's how the narrative introduced them to me. Gregor was good guy, yes? But I feel like there's better partners out there. He seemed like a mean and stern father for Nah, which wasn't that great to experience. I think she deserves better. Since it's easy to forget the lifespan of the Manakete, Nowi appears to be a little girl with an old man when paired with Gregor as well. So I wanted to choose a young father to go with Nowi. After hearing about the unholy alliance of Donnel and Nowi on numerous occasions, I have to try this. I have to see this super-powered Nah. The next pairings I'm probably about 60% certain with. Stahl + Cordelia = Severa [spoiler=reasoning]Stahl seems like a lazy guy. His artwork depicts him yawning on a rock. From his support conversations with Severa, it feels like he'd make for a lazy parent. So the rude personality of Severa feels like an appropriate consequence of his effort and influence. The support conversations between Stahl and Cordelia were just so sweet as well. I feel like I ought to keep this pairing together. Stahl and Cordelia can enter the battlefield as Paladin and Falcon Knight alike, with Severa as an Assassin of mine. I have enough Heroes (via Flavia and Donnel) without Severa whilst her severe personality makes the Assassin feel like a natural class choice. Lon'qu + Tharja = Noire [spoiler=reasoning]Tharja is one mean witch. She also doesn't stop talking about the avatar which is pretty annoying. But she's such a heartless and cruel character I could never marry her haha. In this regard, it feels like the pairing with Lon'qu kind of works. Since she couldn't get the avatar, she just had to make do with him. As for Lon'qu, the support conversations provide a really reasonable excuse for the them to get together. I intend to make Lon'qu a Dread Fighter and Tharja a Sorcerer. So they're going to feel like quite an evil pair in combat beside each other. Lon'qu's conversations with Noire are quite endearing. While I also like the fact that Lon'qu will give Noire dark hair. I had been playing around with the idea of Gaius, the sugar assassin, and Tharja hooking up. But a Noire with orange hair just doesn't work for me. I know it's just a name. But I really do feel like Noire should have dark hair. Light hair simply feels like a miscreation or a malfunction of sorts. As if I'm messing with destiny haha. These are the pairings I'm really quite uncertain about though. The ones I need help with. Especially the last pair. Vaike + Maribelle = Brady [spoiler=reasoning]I notice the artwork for Brady depicts him with blonde hair, so I'm somewhat inclined to choose a father with a light hair colour. Brady has quite a crass nature too. During my first play-through I stuck Donnel with Maribelle since they were basically left-over partners from other marriages, and the backwater villager nature of Donnel seemed like a reasonable excuse. But after realising how useful Donnel is, I can't think I can pair him with Maribelle again. Vaike on the other hand is quite an attractive candidate, if only for the matching hair colour to Brady's artwork, the convincingly inherited character, and the outright irony of Maribelle marrying such a barbarian. Literally, I'm thinking of promoting Vaike through Barbarian to the Berserker class to add a bit of variety to my game. Gregor + Panne = Yarne [spoiler=reasoning]So after witnessing Gregor's affections for Nowi from my first play-through, I understand that the man has a bit of a thing for shapeshifters. Either that or something that starts with "beast" and ends in "fatality" but I jest hehe. I actually think Gregor and Panne could make quite a decent pairing. Especially with plans to create a wild-man persona for Gregor by promoting Gregor to become another Berserker, like Vaike (there's seriously too many Heroes otherwise). My original pairing for Panne was with Gaius and it seemed to work well, but not enough to convince me to do it again. I want to try something different next time. Gaius + Miriel = Laurent [spoiler=reasoning]I have to admit, this is the pairing which I'm most concerned about. I can't see what Gaius and Miriel have in common, besides providing ranged attacks. But they were ultimately left-overs. The luck of the draw. That is to say that I didn't want to use Libra or Ricken as fathers. Libra is just too weird. And Ricken is too young. I initially paired him with Miriel during the first play-through of the game. But it just felt uncomfortably wrong. Miriel is a confident woman with brilliant smarts to match. It doesn't make any sense that she'd marry a child. Ricken is exactly that. He's just a boy, trying to act older. But you can't fool me. Gaius on the other hand, needs to be a parent. His support conversations with Yarne were so understanding. I have to re-use him again. I intend to make Laurent into another Sorcerer, whoever his parents are. Again to add a little more variety to my game (there's a potential saturation of Sages otherwise). So maybe Gaius and Laurent could be a dark duo, as Assassin and Sorcerer together. But it's all loose anyway. I'm not satisfied. Keeping in mind the pairings I'm more settled on, could you give me some advice on the marriage pairs towards the bottom of my list please? Eternally grateful, Red Falcon
  7. I want solid marriage pairings across the board for my Hard Mode playthrough can someone take a look and give me some solid critiques? I'm a big fan of galeforce babies, though they aren't necessarily a requirement. This is the result of my countless online searches and some in game research. I usually opt for a female MU to get an Inigo!Morgan but I wanted to try Male MU + Tharja and base all subsequent pairings off of that: +Speed -Luck Male MU + Tharja Chrom + Olivia Sully + donnel Cordelia + Lon Qu Lissa +Ricken Panne + stahl Cherche + Frederick Sumia + Henry Maribelle + gaius Nowi + kellam Miriel + Gregor
  8. Okay, so I love grinding and DLC and constant reclassing/customization for the best results, so gameplay on Normal/Hard passed pretty easily for me. Consequently, I didn't care much for "optimal pairings" or "best children" because I had no difficulty with the stages. Upon finally starting my lunatic run however, I discovered that this time I wanted to really plan out my pairings, skill inheritance and try to get the "best children in their best classes" possible! I'm absolutely fine with any sort of grinding and reclassing, so please don't hesitate to give me long reclassing paths if it's worth it! I also have full access to DLC and additional classes such as Dread Fighter and Bride, and skills like Limit Breaker - so there's no problem recommending me pairings that would utilize these skills/classes for their children. I've done some research of my own, and combined with the pairings that I used in my past playthroughs, I have come up with a draft - please don't hesitate correcting me! Chrom/Olivia (I've heard that this gives a great Inigo and Lucina) Inigo/feMU (Chrom or second gen is best for feMU, and Rightful King, so...) Cherche/Vaike/Frederick (Vaike gives crazy strength and I love a strong Gerome, but others seem to agree that Fred makes a tank Gerome. I'm a little worried about Fred's stats because in my past experiences Fred had quite inferior stats compared to other units further into the game.) Gaius/Tharja (Noire gets galeforce and that's awesome, but I've always made Gaius the father for Noire...is there any other good candidate for her father?) Maribelle/Lon'Qu/Henry/Libra (I've always done Lon'Qu for Brady and it worked out fine...but apparently Henry or Libra gives a good sorcerer potential for him. What should I do?) Miriel/Gregor (My mind is set on this one.) Nowi/Kellam/Donnel (Kellam gives Nah amazing defense. But why is everyone suggesting Donnel?) Sully/Donnel (Isn't this the best? I've heard Stahl and Vaike are good, too, but...) Panne/????? (Seriously, help me.) Lissa/Ricken/Libra/Henry/Vaike (So much potential...Owain might be a good magic user, but how about Dread Fighter? What should I do about him?) Cordelia/Lon'Qu/Stahl (That speed with Lon'Qu...but Stahl makes Severa a good hero...BUTBUTBUT) Sumia/Henry/Gaius/Fred/??? (I have zero ideas. But unfortunately Chrom is definitely out of question.) Please keep in mind, this is all for optimization and not supports or hair colours...(though I was very adamant on those before...) so no shipping wars! I greatly appreciate all the input, and thank you!
  9. Title says all I want the best (statwise) couples in awakening please. The only ones that I won't change are: Chrom X Sumia MyMMu X Olivia Vaike X Cherche All others I need help for best children
  10. *VOTE CLOSED! THANK YOU ALL!* So I recently started a new file on Awakening. I just completed chater 13. The only person married yet is Chrom to Olivia. And I have a Smallest-Build-Male-Avatar. Problem is, I don't know who to marry to him. I already married Tharja on my first playthrough, so I would rather not do that again. I'm considering marrying a 2nd gen character, but the only thing stopping me from doing it is not having 2 kids; only one. So what do you guys think? Marry 2nd gen character? If so, here are who I'm considering: Lucina (Gonna make her a Swordmaster) (Olivia is her mom) Cynthia (When I get her) Severa (When I get her) Nah (When I get her) and Noire (When/If I get her) remember, I have a little shota avatar, so marrying all of them is totally not pedoish Discuss. +Magic/-Res, btw. The person I'm marrying had better have brown hair. My avatar does as well, so Morgan can continue the tradition.
  11. i was just bored so i wanted to draw something and i did christa. here you go.. it is based on some other artwork i found cute.. there is a legs part but i didn't finish or didn't find it good. actually i dont know if it's good or not. if i take it in a better quality to show the blush, mouth and etc better i'll post or edit.
  12. After you choose to marry Robin (your avatar) with any of the future second generation children, has anyone else thought of what would happen with your marriage once their present self is born? Note: Lucina is the only one in the game who is currently born
  13. So, in most 'optimal' pairings I saw, there's at least one children doomed to be a Sorc. With this set-up, I wanted to prove that it's possible to make an 'optimal' pairing without anyone turning into a Sorc. Opinions may differ, but I used what most people consider as good pairings. Chrom/Olivia - Arguably the best pairing(besides the 'implied canon' Chrom/Sumia), this opts for offensive kids, with Vantage, Galeforce, and Luna from both parents. Also, with this, Inigo could get Rightful King. Although just 10% but bigger proc chance = more procs. Lissa/MaMU - I always think magical Owain is a bit weird(especially with him talking about his sword hand and such), so I wanted him to be a physical unit despite the -2 Str mod. MU is the only character who could make a viable physical Owain without wasting a dad which is better left to someone else. Sully/Vaike - Some people have been talking about Vaike or Donny being Sully's best bet. Although Donny gives Galeforce, Armsthrift, and an actually decent mods for his kid, but I think Vaike is better since Galeforce isn't needed for tanking. Also, Kjelle still have access to Sol and Armsthrift. Miriel/Ricken - This is arguably the best pairing for Laurent as a Sage(since no Sorc involved). +6 magic and access to Luna is pretty devastating. Sadly he lacks Galeforce to boot, but he could get Dual Guard+ and Dual Support+ from both parents, making him a support Sage. Sumia/Henry - This pairing is the best if you want to make Cynthia a Dark Flier. Sumia already provides the skills(Luna, Tomefaire, Galeforce, Renewal), and her -2 Str mod leaves her(and thus, her kid) better as Dark Flier, so safe to say this pairing is mod-only pairing(although Henry gives Lifetaker too). Maribelle/Lon'qu - Lon'qu allows Brady to be a speedy Sage, with the expense of his defense. He also gets Vantage, and since less defense = more damage, Vantage will proc more often. Also, the fact that Brady is pretty hard to mess up also makes this pairing pretty good. Panne/Gregor - Arguably the best pairing for Yarne, since most people turn him into a Berserker because Taguel sucks. With Gregor as his dad, he could get access to Vantage, Sol, Armsthrift, and Axefaire. He could also utilize VVW combo using the Vengeance axe as well. Cordelia/Stahl - For Severa, it's either Lon'qu or Stahl. Usually people pick Stahl since he makes her the best Hero. He also gives Vantage, Luna, and Aegis. Lon'qu is the speedy alternative for her, and still gives Vantage, though no Cav access means no Luna and Aegis, and he's given to Maribelle. Nowi/Donny - With Donny as her parent, Nah will have access to Galeforce, Armsthrift and Sol. Even with the not-too-stellar mods she will turn out fine. Also, with Donny as her dad she will hit exactly 50 Luck, which allows you to abuse Dragonstone+ as much as you like. Tharja/Gaius - This pairing is arguably the best for Sniper Noire. Donny is a viable choice too, however Donny gives Armsthrift, but Gaius has better mods, and still have Galeforce. Also, Tharja gives Pavise and Luna, which are pretty good skills too. Cherche/Frederick - Fred could give PavGis and Luna for Gerome, with the expense of him being pretty slow. Also, he's the other kid who doesn't have Galeforce, but can be a support unit with Dual Support+ and Dual Guard+ from both parents. I could say he's the physical variant of Laurent but slower. This is the best pairing I could thought so far. I could work with FeMU too but it'll be a bit harder. I could shuffle some pairings for it though.
  14. Right now my pairings are: ChromxSumia VaikexLissa GaiusxOlivia HenryxMaribelle DonnelxSully FrederickxCherche GregorxPanne RickenxMiriel Lon'quxTharja KellamxNowi My avatar's asset is skill, flaw is HP. I was going to marry Cordelia for two really good children, but I'm thinking about switching him out with Virion so I can marry someone else. Severa can get good enough skills with either, she'll just be a bit more defensive with Virion. Feel free to critique my other pairs, but I'm mainly worried about Cordelia. Vaike and Lissa are already married, so I can't change that. Thanks for the help.
  15. Well, I know a lot of us have been here since pre-release, or maybe even pre-Japanese release. Some of us even saw the first scans of the game, being raised on the adventures of Krom and Liz in Iris. So here's my question: who, way back then, chose their husband or wife? I know I did, and I'm betting some others did, too. Did you go through with it? Years later, with English voice acting, new names, and everything... Did you stay faithful to the one that originally captured your heart? Me? Yes and no. I married Gangrel, and I wanted to from the start (heck, I wanted to from before marriage was announced). But before he was announced eligible via Spotpass and the support gallery, I had Frederick as a back up. So, in part, yes. I knew from the start Gangrel was my first choice and I married him. But, if he hadn't been, I wouldn't have gone for Frederick -- probably "Wood", or Owain! So... What about all you? EDIT: Maybe, because a lot of people have multiple files, we'll say "first playthrough" (or at least first playthrough as that gender). EDIT (AGAIN): I tried to alter it to pick more than one option for people like Cluie, but I'm not sure it worked. Either way...
  16. Basically, are there any Spotpass characters who you like to marry? Whether it's min-maxing, because you like the character, or just for fun doesn't matter, only that your will marry one (or more, different files and all that) of them. You can post your choices for both Male and Female Avatars if you so choose. Male Avatars: I plan to marry Aversa so that I can have a Morgan with Shadowgift, yes, as well as for good stat modifiers in the right places when I'm going with a +Speed/-Luck Avatar (since my children and Avatars tend heavily towards being mages). The resulting Morgan will be a Valkyrie to give me a mobile dark magic user and healer. If the western version of Awakening had the Mute Avatar option, I would have totally married mute +Speed/-Luck (or -Strength) Avatar to Emmeryn on those runs. Female Avatars: My only main female Avatar will eventually marry Gangrel, seeing as he's my favorite Awakening character. Modifier-wise, it's also a pretty good move on my part in my opinion, considering my main female Avatar will be have +Magic and Strength as the Asset and Flaw respectively, giving me a sexy +5 Magic modifier and a very sexy +6 Speed modifier, which will help my Morgan do well in the Sorcerer class (Which is what I'm going for with Male Morgan). Another reason for why I would marry Gangrel is that his modifiers are almost equal to Sumia's (1 Skill and Defense point advantage over her in exchange for 1 point of Luck and Resistance), the only unit that can produce a sibling to Morgan that I'd marry (with the prerequisite that Chrom is getting Olivia on that file). As a result, Sumia!Morgan and Gangrel!Morgan almost become mirrors of each other, each with their own advantages and disadvantages (thanks to gender) that I will fully enjoy comparing until the end of time. If I had another file to save to, I would have made a +Resistance/-Strength Female Avatar and married her off to Walhart, just so I can have a Dark Knight Morgan with Conquest and all stat caps above 40 (with a 46 Defense modifier, leading to a really bulky Dark Knight). It's probably not the best thing to do with Walhart!Morgan, but fuck that! I'll manage anyways. Well, enough about my preferences. What about yours?
