  1. By the title, I mean the first two "generations", so to speak, of the GBA and DS Pokémon Mystery Dungeon games. Given that these games are twelve and nine years old, respectively, I feel like the only person left who still goes back to them non-infrequently. Of course, I don't go back to these games too often, because they're the games I spent the most time with in my teenage years by a long shot, but I still think the first two Mystery Dungeon series are great games that deserve all the praise they get. I was playing MD Blue on and off for a total of about 5-6 years to recruit all 386 Pokémon species, and currently, I'm trying to do the same in MD Sky whenever I feel like taking a break from Fire Emblem. I'd say I'm well on my way, but there's still a lot left to do, like train up a Pokémon capable of learning Fast Friend to completely max stats so it's possible for me to recruit Kecleon. For some reason I started as a Skitty in my current file... even though Normalize is literally the worst ability ever. I'd probably start over again if I hadn't already maxed out my Explorer Rank, cleared Zero Isle (and Destiny Tower, after like 50 attempts) and recruited about two-thirds total of the game's roster of 493. And for anyone who might be wondering, I don't have much to say about Gates to Infinity or Super Mystery Dungeon. GTI was pretty awful and I didn't find SMD to be much better, but if you've enjoyed those games, that's perfectly fine, they just weren't for me. I picked them up once and put them down after finishing the main stories.
  2. Hey there everybody! I've been something of a long time lurker on Serenes, but I figured I should Introduce myself! I stream a TON of Fire Emblem and Pokemon, particularly with a focus on silly Rom Hacking. You might recognize me from my association with Mangs, for whom I am a scriptreader/editor for his character spotlight videos. Drop on by my discord for a general good time, and to get updates on when I'm streaming! we also have a nsfw section. Enjoy if u wish XD MODEDIT: we have our own discord, don't advertise yours LUNAEDIT: oops, sorry about that. MODEDIT: no worries cheers, welcome to sf
  3. I hope this topic hasn't been created yet. I looked for it just in case but I'm sort of blind, so I could have missed it. Anyway, what pokemon type (as in: water type, ghost type, etc) would you like the next legendary pokemon to be? I mean the legendary pokemon that's central to the game. Also, is there a mythical pokemon with a certain pokemon type you'd like to see? I personally want a poison type legendary pokemon, be it its first type, second type or only type. It would be so cool and unique. And sort of needed, now that we have a fairy type legendary and so many fairy type mythicals out of nowhere. If not, I'd like a mythical pokemon that is poison/fairy (steel/fairy is cool too, but there's already Magearna). One would think I'm a fan of the poison type haha. Not really, but I just think it's time
  4. Well my senior year is almost over, and I'll have a good amount of free time, so why not document an LP? the rules: 1. I may only catch the first Pokémon in an area, and if I fail the encounter, I do not get a Pokémon from that area 2. If a Pokémon faints it is considered dead, and must be put in the box permenantly 3. All Pokémon must be nicknamed 4. Shiny and dupes clauses are active (if I find a shiny regardless of if it's my first encounter or not I can catch and use it, and if I find a Pokémon I already have or have had I can choose to continue encountering Pokémon untill I get something new, to add to the variety) 5. All gift Pokémon will be accepted. Wether they will be used or not depends on the team ATM 6. I will allow myself ONE legendary beast, which will be determined by the viewers 7. Ho Oh and Lugia are off limits due to how powerful they are, this is supposed to be a challenge after all! 8. The Nuzlocke officially begins when we get Pokeballs we have won the nuzlocke when we have beaten Red upon Mt. Silver. all images taken will have links posted to view them, this way I don't have to delete images to comply with the posting limit comments and questions are welcomed and appreciated!
  5. A couple days ago I fired up pokemon ORAS and started a new file (seriously why do pokemon games have to be so vague on how to delete a file?) And i've already picked out my team and i'm in the process of hunting them all down when I wondered, does everyone have a specific preference for pokemon they put on their teams, or do you go with your gut? When I say preference it can be anything from appearance, stats, aesthetic, type, nature etc. I personally tend to choose pokemon that I find to be ethier cute, rare, unique, regal, or pokemon that look like you could have as pets. Also, do you care about EVs and IVs or do you just take pokemon as they are? Feel free to voice your opinions below.
  6. Welcome to Pokemon Rejuvenation. Like my previous (and still ongoing) series, this is a Pokemon fan game made with RPG Maker XP using Pokemon Essentials. It's heavily inspired by Pokemon Reborn, a game I'm also playing. That means this game: Has 18 gyms, one for each type. Not much to say about that. Has level caps. By default, your Pokemon can't level beyond 20, and this increases by 5 with each badge you get save for two badges in unreleased content. This isn't just disobedience like some other fangames, but it becomes impossible to gain experience at all. Is a lot more challenging than the regular games Puzzles. Lots of puzzles. Most importantly: an extremely silly plot. Among other things. You can find the latest version here, unless you're reading this months or more into the future in which case it likely isn't, but it should be in a sticky thread on that subforum. Despite all my bitching about these games I do find them more fun than the canon Pokemon games but I'm willing to overlook a lot of a game's flaws if the gameplay is fun/challenging enough. Anyway, let's get this show on the road. Prologue: More Cutscenes than Gen7 Table of Contents
  7. Does someone have a Marshadow they could trade with me ? If so, what Pokemon would you trade it for? I hope it's okay to ask this here, if not, please forgive me! I'm sort of actually very desperate at this point.
  8. RULES 1. Catch only the first pokemon you see on each route/area. 2. If you kill the first pokemon you see, no new pokemon for you. 3. If you encounter the same pokemon/pokemon from the same evolution line you already have, try again until you get a pokemon you haven't caught. 4. No healing inside of battles is allowed, healing outside of battles is. 5. Your pokemon's level can be at most the same as the level of bosses most powerful pokemon. 6. You may only use the same amount of pokemon as the gym leaders/bosses use. (However there is one instance, for which I'll create a poll for) 7. Naming your pokemon is optional. 8. If your pokemon faints during battle, it is considered 'dead' and it must be released. 9. If you lose a battle, you may continue with the pokemon you have inside the PC Box. With that out of the way... Obligatory trainer name. Gary F***** Oak Level 2 Pidgey, a man's worst nightmare. As much as it pains me not to pick Squirtle (Blastoise is my favourite pokemon), I'll pick Bulbasaur, because he's pretty cool and nobody ever picks him (And he'll make two first gym battles easier) That was CLOSE Get used to it, dickhead. The real fun/pain begins NOW Now that's a good way to begin a nuzlocke, one of my favourite pokemon and a pokemon that is actually quite decent. Hyper Fang hits like a fucking truck early on and once it evolves it just gets better. A very good pokemon early on, that holds it own throught the entire game (from my experience) Rattata has been caught :) New route, what are we gonna get? Mankey. It's not a bad pokemon, it's fairly fast and has good damage output, it's certianly going to be useful against Brock. With me not being able to get trade evolutions Mankey might be just the best fighting type I can get, especially once it evolves. Mankey has been caught. Route 2 time baby, now give me Pidgey. That's what I'm talking about! Caught it without hitting it, Ash be jealous. Anyway Pidgey is an ok flying type, not amazing, I find spearow/fearow and doduo/dodrio much better than pidgey/pidgeotto/pidgeot due to pidgey's average attack and speed. Still it has a higher base total than the previous two evolution lines, but it's late final evolution hurts it, when you can get Fearow 16 level earlier, anyway that's enough for the first update. Next time I'll get through Viridian Forest and face my rival on route 22. Smell ya later!

    Pokemon Ideas?

I'm sure we've all wanted to come up with our own Pokemon concepts, what are some that you think should be added? You can add any info, type, animal or object it's based on, stats, moves, evolutions, area etc. For example, I had an idea for a Jack-o-Lantern Pokemon, it'd either be grass/fire or grass/ghost, and would have high HP and low speed. It'd be found in and around ghost dungeons and maybe fields at night. As well as an idea for a Ghost/Steel, it'd be a haunted suit of armour with high attack and defence, and evolves to a haunted suit on a set of horse armour, increasing speed. Found in a haunted dungeon or castle And a Fighting/Dragon Pokemon, it's first evolution would be plain fighting, a cute humanoid reptillian, and then evolving into a larger humanoid reptillian with perhaps boxing gloves. Good on attack and speed.
  10. Welcome to another multi-chapter Pokémon story! This story is a bit different for reasons that will be explained inside of the link, but it should still be enjoyable! The first eight chapters have already been posted to fan fiction.net. In order to avoid clogging the page with links, everything is one link here. However, future updates to the story will have the normal one link per chapter. Here's the story's summary: "If she participated in that study, maybe she would finally be free… Free from not knowing her parents… Free from the bullying… Free from her mother's legacy…" AU https://www.fanfiction.net/s/12656845/1/Holly-Rising
  11. I'm planning for a Pokémon hack set in a region based in the Philippines. I tried to gather all the Pokémon that seem to fit in the country, and the result is found below. Keep in mind that some of the legendaries at the bottom of the list are placeholders. As for the setting: Now, all I need are some people to help me with ideas, such as Pokémon availability (maximum of 250), trainer teams, location themes, and sprite and artwork. I have an idea of a trainer class that paces around, sells ice cream, and uses the Vanillite line (Vanillite will be one of the few Ice types available because we have Sorbetes), and a Farmer trainer class which uses grass types. I also need someone to help with enemy team composition, as I'm planning for a Bonus Boss involving (MASSIVE SPOILERS BELOW) Aside from the main rival with the starter advantage that you can name, I'm planning for a secondary rival whose main Pokémon is Vanilluxe. I'll need some help with the script, although I will lay down some guidelines on words: Swearing will be limited to less offensive curses such as "crap" and the occasional "bastard/dastard", and some coming from the local language and its dialects, such as "buang" (look it up). These are the same basic rules I apply to my fanfic writing. I haven't decided for half of the Gym types, although the latter half (in order) will be Water, Fire, Poison, Ice. So can you guys supply me with ideas? I'll need help from my fellow Filipino users. PhilDex.txt
  12. I have had a lot of my real life friends (all 3 of them) asking me how I feel about Pokémon recently, as I have kept quiet on the subject, because I felt like it didn't really need mentioning. But Pokémon has always been really close to my heart ever since it first came out over here and so today, I have decided to finally get things off my chest. I won't bore you with how Pokémon basically saved me from comitting suicide as a child or how I would always feel better when I played the games and watched the original series. This is purely my thoughts and feelings on the progression of the series as a whole, concentrated on the games, because I haven't been following the Anime since Diamond and Pearl The Animation came out (and sucked some major league balls). Because I have to be honest here: I really do not like the direction the franchise is taking anymore and I can't see myself supporting it any longer. In fact, I have pretty much quit playing Pokémon some 2-3 years ago. I still play the games sometimes, but not as regularly as I used to. And here are my reasons why. You can feel free to disagree with me, of course, because that's what opinions are here for after all, but hear me out first. Why I quit playing Pokémon It's difficult to pin it down to one reason, because there are several reasons. I think the biggest one is that Pokémon can be really frustrating at times and as much as I loved it, it is THE major party responsible for lowering my frustration tolerance to dangerously low levels. Natures play a big part in this. They have been introduced in Gen 3 because the developers thought to add some more variety and personality to the creatures, which is nice… on paper. In practice, it's just one of many examples of „innovation where it wasn't needed“ to me. Imagine this, you roam around a cave for hours, trying to find a Bagon – a very rare Dragon type Pokémon that evolves into Salamence, one of my all time favourites – and you finally find one. You're ecstatic! After hours upon hours of nothing but Lunatones and Golbats, you finally see the Pokémon you were looking for. You weaken it, you catch it, maybe it breaks out of the Poké Balls a few times (which is in itself INCREDIBLY frustrating) then you check it's stat screen and see a Nature that lowers it's Speed, one of Salamence's most important stats. Worse still, it's male so in a Ditto-less environment (which Ruby and Sapphire was until FireRed and LeafGreen came along) you can't even breed the thing to get a different nature. That's awful, isn't it? You have this super cool Pokémon, but you can't really do anything with it because it has a terrible Nature. There are more examples of this: Adamant Abras, Modest Machops, you name it. No one in their right mind would train a Swellow with an Attack-impeding Nature and yet the game just LOVES to throw these wrong Natures at you, especially when rare Pokémon are concerned. Next is the stupid EV (Effort Value) system Ruby and Sapphire introduced. In case you are not aware, Effort Values are hidden values that determine a Pokémon's stats. You can have up to 255 EVs in any given stat, but you can only have a maximum of 510 EVs in total. And to get EVs, you need to kill a certain Pokémon that gives the EVs you want. For example, if you want to train Speed, you have to kill a whole bunch of Zubat. So what does that mean, exactly? You can only max out two stats at any given time, leaving your other stats in the dust and if you want to stand even a tiny chance in the Battle Frontier / Maison / whatever the hell or god forbid, competitive battling, you will NEED EV-trained Pokémon. What this does, aside from adding much unneded frustration because you trained a stat you didn't want (say, Special Attack on a Haxorus), is break the balance of the games even more, because it favours Pokémon with specialized bases over the ones with balanced bases. So this cool Blastoise you have with the same Attack and Special Attack stats? Yeah, that thing isn't worth anything anymore. What I think the most offensive about this is that the games didn't even tell you this until X & Y with Super Training. To know this, you had to buy a guide (and even these things only got into small detail of what EVs are) or look it up on the internet to get an explanation from people who found out via reverse engineering, which is illegal, by the way. So this valuable information that you absolutely NEED to complete the game is just hidden from you. That's terrible game design, nothing more. By the by, EV-trained Pokémon don't guarantee that you win in any Battle Frontier-like institution, oh no! The sad fact is that your skill at the game doesn't matter in the slightest! All you need is a crap-ton of luck the A.I. doesn't counter your Pokémon exactly, which it is liable to do, because the A.I. knows exactly what Pokémon you bring, what Moves and Items they have and what kind of strategy you employ and WILL react accordingly to that. Have a Dragon-type that is central to your strategy? Suddenly, a crap-ton of Fairies or Ice-types will show up. Have a Steel-type to counter them? The A.I. will do it's damndest to make sure to get rid of it before sending in its Fairies / Icies. And then there's the usual spiel of your attacks constantly missing, the A.I. hitting every single attack, no matter how inaccurate, getting crits on you in just the right moments and surviving blows that for all intends and purposes should have been lethal. This is the game actively screwing with you. It has nothing to do with fair difficulty, winning in the Battle Maison and any similar thing isn't something you can brag about, because in the end, it had nothing to do with how strong your Pokémon were. You won, because the game let you win. And the worst part: This unfair bullsh** started all the way back in Gen 2 with Stadium 2 on the N64. Then Pokémon Crystal introduced the first Battle Tower and it all went downhill from there. It's not like the Battle Institutions are the only sources of fake difficulty or unfairness, by the way. From Pokémon in evolutionary stages their level would normally not allow to Pokémon knowing Moves they shouldn't to Pokémon just refusing to stay inside Poké Balls, the main games themselves have a lot of examples. Let's start with the first point. Underlevelled Pokémon: This is one is easy. Do you know Dragonite? The Dragon Pokémon that only evolves into Dragonite at level 55? Do you know Lance and have you played Gold, Silver and Crystal or HeartGold and SoulSilver? Then you probably know where I am going with this. Lance, the Champion of the Pokémon League, has 3 Dragonites. Two at level 47, one at level 50. All three of them should be Dragonairs, but they're not. Why? Well, because the developers thought it would be a good idea to make it almost impossible to level up your Pokémon in Johto, so they had to make the Elite 4 and Champion weaker to compensate. It would have been reasonable were the Dragonites at level 57 and 60 respectively, but then no single player would have stood a chance because for whatever reason the second Generation still throws level 10 Pokémon at you when you are past the point of getting your fifth Gym Badge. Grinding and enemy progression frankly sucked in Gen 2 sucked and it sucked even more in the remakes, because Gen 4 is slow as as hell, because GameFreak apparently sucked at optimizing and basic programming to make the game run at a decent speed during that time. Pokémon knowing Moves they shouldn't: For this one, we're going into Gen 6 this time, more specifically, to X and Y. Team Flare Boss Lysandre's signature Pokémon is a Gyarados and that thing knows Iron Head and Outrage, two Moves that it could only learn via Move Tutor in Black 2 / White 2 at the time of X and Y's release, meaning a player could never have access to these Moves on their own Gyarados if they caught it in the Kalos region. Newer players wouldn't even know that these Moves could be taught to Gyarados in older games, meaning they are forever stuck wondering how and where Lysandre's Gyarados got these two attacks. Gen 6 players finally got access to them when ORAS got released, but until then, Lysandre's Gyarados was the only one in the entirety of Kalos that knew Iron Head and Outrage. And before anyone mentions it: there is no evidence to suggest Lysandre visited Unova even once in his life, so his Gyarados knowing Iron Head and Outrage when it really shouldn't is nothing but player screwage over on the developers part. The same goes for any enemy Pokémon that knows Event only attacks or TMs it could only learn in past / future generations. An example: There is a guy in Pokémon Battle Revolution, a Gen 4 game on the Wii who uses a Zapdos that knows Extrasensory, a Move it can only have if you catch and purify the Shadow Zapdos in Pokémon XD Gale of Darkness, a Gen 3 game. So players who haven't played Gen 3 and started with Gen 4 would never know where that Zapdos got access to Extrasensory, similar to Lysandre's Gyarados example above. If these examples are too „flimsy“ for you: In Gen 2, Lance's Aerodactyl (yes, it's the same Lance. That guy is player-screwage incarnate) knows Rock Slide, a Move it couldn't learn until Gen 3, where it was Move Tutor exclusive. Pokémon refusing to stay inside the Poké Ball: This one is incredibly easy, let me just ask you one single question: Where is the fun in needing to throw 50 Hyper Balls at a legendary Pokémon to catch it? It's not difficult, it's not satisfying. You don't raise your arms in happiness when it finally lands, you just go „Ugh, finally.“ It just takes time. It's not hard, it's just a major waste of time, that's all there is to it. Even worse when, after all that effort, the Pokémon you painstakingly caught (and wasted a lot of money on, because those Hyper Balls ain't cheap, yo) has a crappy Nature and IV spread. Yes, game, I am so very happy with my Calm Zekrom with zero IV in Attack and Speed. Thank you so much! /s Pokémon (Ultra)Sun and Pokémon (Ultra)Moon After the series peaked in Gen 5 and then went straight off a cliff in ORAS, I had little hope Sun and Moon would be able to reel me back in. Needless to say, what little hope there was was squashed the moment Sun and Moon announced more details about itself. Let's start with the biggest one: the new Pokémon. To be frank, I don't like a single one of them. Even now as I look at them, I can't find a single one that makes me say: “Yes, this is really cool!“ And the Pokémon designs – like it or not – have always been a big part of Pokémon's appeal as a franchise. Granted, there are some okay designs in there, but nothing groundbreaking, nothing that would get me hyped to use them in battle, see them attacking and moving. My reactions to the newer Pokémon range from an irresistible urge to vomit to cold indiffernce. For a franchise as big as Pokémon with as many characters as Pokémon, mediocre just doesn't cut it anymore. Call me entitled if you want, but if I have to spend €45 on a game, I want the game to be better than just “okay”. And if a big part of its appeal sucks, then why should I bother with it? “But you can catch older Pokémon. Just use those!” Yeah, like I can do in X and Y? Like I can do in FireRed and LeafGreen? Games I already have? Games I don't need to spend money on because I already bought them? You mean like that? This is in fact one of the major fallacies of the Pokémon franchise. With including older Pokémon in the newer games, you also have to include all of that old baggage as well. Ways to evolve Pokémon, shiny forms, gender differences, models, signature moves… all of that stuff that just continually fills up space and leaves less room for new things, for true innovation. While I really truly love many of the older Pokémon, I was so happy to not see a single older Pokémon in Pokémon Black when I first played it (even if some of the newer Pokémon in that Gen are rather blatant rip-offs of older Pokémon) and I can to this day remember my disappointment at seeing an Absol after I beat the Pokémon League, one of my favourite Dark-type Pokémon, mind you. It's just GameFreak that doesn't have the balls to say “Screw it! There is only the new Pokémon now!” Either that, or they don't want to create new Pokémon anymore and just throw the old stuff at us. “But there are Alola Forms of older Pokémon! Those are new!” Yes, and aside from Vulpix, Ninetales and Marowak, all of them are ugly as sin and / or what I can only assume are sad, unsuccessful attempts at making a joke. And Zygarde's new forms are literally Cell from Dragon Ball Z, all the way down to how he achieves these forms. “But Solgaleo is cool!” Oh, you mean that Steel / Psychic-type legendary Pokémon? Remember Metagross, Jirachi and Bronzong? Yeah, I'll always prefer these three. And as far as lion-like Pokémon go, I'll take my Entei and Pyroar, thanks. As for Pokémon that look like Chinese guardian lions / dogs, there is Arcanine and Entei both. “But Lunala is so awesome!” Yeah, a Psychic / Ghost-type. That thing that has a double weakness to both Dark and Ghost-type Moves… Moves that are conveniently common among legendary Pokémon and normal Pokémon alike Have you seen how many Pokémon learn Shadow Claw, Shadow Ball, Dark Pulse, Crunch and Night Slash? This thing wouldn't stand for two seconds against any Pokémon with these kinds of attacks. That's not even mentioning Yveltal and Darkrai, who will utterly destroy Lunala the second it shows its derpy face. It's also based on a bat, as if Crobat, Swoobat and Noivern weren't enough bats already. And a legendary Pokémon that has something to do with the crescent moon also already exists. It's name is Cresselia from the oh so precious fourth Generation. “Bu---!” I liked Necrozma more when its name was Kyurem. His ultimate form also looks like a seven year old child's rendition of the final boss of 7th Dragon III Code:VFD, so it's not like that's anything original or particularly special, either. The next point on my list is the character design of the humans. It's bad, close to unbearable even. They all look like the elevator doesn't go to the higher floors anymore, if you catch my drift, and in addition, most of them just look so very punchable. If I have the urge to punch my own character in the face, then you know something is wrong. The one character design I would consider halfway decent is Lillie's. And from what I've seen and read, she's waifu / loli-bait, so that's a thing. And now we get into the Z-Moves. Aside from the name sounding like a bad Dragon Ball Z motion control game, I liked these things better when they were called Mystic Artes and Limit Breaks. Because Pokémon didn't invent that shit. The Tales of series and Final Fantasy franchise have been doing that for years now and I am sure finishing moves of this kind appeared in other JRPGs as well, so what makes them so special here? Besides the lethal amount of cringing that little dance the trainer does before activating one of those Moves induces into me, I mean. The last thing I want to mention for now is the music. Boy, is it ever awful. ORAS was saved by its stellar soundtrack, even if the regression in graphics and tacked on Mega Evolution bogged it down and nose-dived it straight off a cliff. The music, at the very least, was amazing, both old and new tracks. Special shoutouts to this masterpiece. Sun and Moon doesn't even have that. I listened to the entirety of the soundtrack and there wasn't a single track that stood out in a good way. It stood out, sure, but only by almost forcing me to visit a doctor because of how much figurative blood streamed out of my ears afterwards. I thought Gen 4's battle music was awful and annoying, but Sun and Moon blows it out of the water, spin kicks it and suplexes it right back in, especially with this. The one thing Gen 7 did right is getting rid of those stupidly useless HM Moves that should be natural abilities for Pokémon. I promise you, HM Moves will be back come Gen 8. Now, I'm sure some of you will call me out on my points, and rightfully so, since I haven't played Sun, Moon or their sequels, but I did play the demo and I was never in my life more bored out of my skull during gameplay before. I also watched some gameplay videos and they all brought me to the same conclusion: The Alola region is so blandand forgettable it's not even funny. Worst thing about this is that there is a Pokémon game out there that gets the whole tropical island thing miles better than Sun and Moon could ever hope and that's Pokémon Ranger Guardian Signs. To add insult to injury, there is an entire tropical area in Tales of Berseria that feels like a giant middle finger to Alola, since the two games came out at similar times. So yeah, I don't have any intention of ever buying or playing Sun and Moon or their cash-grab sequels. Sorry if this is a bit lengthy (it's 5 pages of script, gosh darn it!) and sorry if it is a bit harsh, but I felt like getting my opinion out there. As I said in the beginning, feel free to agree or disagree with me. I would nevertheless love to hear your thoughts on this subject. With love, DragonFlames I also have no idea where something like this goes. I first assumed into the Pokémon section, but I am not so sure. Mods, feel free to move or delete it, if I put it into the wrong subforum. P.S. Digimon is better. Both anime and game-wise. Peace!
  13. Both are evil, Both have the exact same hair, both have a deep hatred towards the main protagonist, and one big reason is too spoilery for me to mention!
  14. Sometimes I like to replay a Pokemon game, but to make it interesting, I like to play with a set team that matches a certain theme. For example, I once did a play through of X with a team of all fighting type Pokemon: Gallade, Poliwrath, Blaziken, Lucario, Hitmonchan, and Hawlucha. What are some of your ideas for teams that fit a theme?
  15. Welcome to Diary, another multi chapter fic that is part of the Traveler series. Its summary is as follows: "It's not a type of story usually write, but I have the urge to put this one to cause sometimes my writing is not so simple. It has spawned characters, worlds, even entire series with thousands of words… Like a series called Traveler. Traveler, yes, that's the reason why I'm doing this." Sixth part of the Traveler series, AU, Companion fic to Usurping and Holly Rising. Link here: https://www.fanfiction.net/s/12824908/1/Diary
  16. So this is an idea that I've had for a while and I'm trying to develop it to the point that I can start making it. I will admit that I don't know if anyone else has made anything like this before, but I hope to make the project original and unique enough to justify its existence. Project This hack will be a re-skin of Pokemon Fire Red in which the Pokemon have been replaced by Fire Emblem characters/classes. (More on that later.) Since this will be my first hacking project, I'm trying to keep it manageable, so replacing the Pokemon and changing some dialogue here and there seems like the most realistic route at the moment. The characters that appear will be a mixture of characters/classes from across the series. The Concept So Far Characters: Pokemon will be replaced by Fire Emblem characters. So instead of catching a Caterpie in Viridian Forest, you may end up catching a Cain or Abel. Also, Pokemon will be called Einherjar. Based on a community survey, the Starter Einherjar will be Marth, Ephraim, and Hector!! Pokemon types (fire, water, etc.) will be replaced by Weapon Types. I'm hoping that the class variety of Fire Emblem will let me get creative with the type combinations. Types I'm planning on including so far are: Sword, Lance, Axe, Bow, Beast(horse units and Laguz), Flying(pegasi, wyverns), Armor, Fire, Wind, Thunder, Light, Dark, Hidden Weapons, and Dragon(manaketes and dragons). Type advantages/disadvantages will of course be based on the weapon triangle. I'm not sure if I'll just have magic as a type or split it into Light, Anima, and Dark. Example of what a character's type would look like: Mercenary would be a Sword type, while a Hero would be a dual typed Sword/Axe type. Trainers will be characters from the series. So Gym Leaders could be guys like Seth, Ogma, Elincia, etc. I'm not sure what to do with generic trainers yet. I'd like to include many characters, so I'm trying to figure out which important trainers/characters can be replaced with which FE characters. Evolution will be the way your characters promote. For example, your Mercenary would evolve into a Hero. Not all characters will change class upon promotion FIRST DRAFT OF THE POKEDEX: https://docs.google.com/document/d/14pocqPOEZqtefnxTWCsF9II9CR5br4CogcvsAGqW7EU/edit?usp=sharing So I'll be using this thread to document the development of my concept and ideas, and eventually the development of the game - WHICH I PROMISE WILL EVENTUALLY HAPPEN, BUT ALAS I AM A STUDENT AND THEREFORE FREE TIME IS HARD TO FIND. Please comment with any feedback or ideas you may have. Or even just comment whether you think this is a good idea or not! :) Big thank you to Ryuke, Corrobin, and Donnel, who have contributed very useful ideas and feedback. And thank you to anyone who has filled out any of the surveys.
  17. A while back, I had this idea for a Zelda-Pokemon crossover, set in an AU Hyrule that is essentially a Pokemon region, with its own League, Gym Leaders, Professor, etc. You choose to play as either Link or Linkle and embark on a journey with one of three starter Pokemon of your choice. The Pokemon of C&W are inspired by various creatures and concepts within the Zelda series. You have Pokemon versions of Octoroks, Bokoblins, Moblins, Lizalfos, Dodongos, Darknuts, Gorons, Zoras, etc. The legendary trio consists of three Golden Beasts based on the Triforce. Among the various towns you visit are Rauru, Saria, Darunia, Ruto, Nabooru, and Kakariko. Eight of the towns have a Gym Leader themed after a particular type. Castle Town is home to the Elite Four and Champion. The evil Team Power is lead by Ganondorf, who seeks the Golden Beasts of legend so he can conquer the world. Among his minions are Koume, Kotake, Zelda befriends you, teaches you the basics, and helps you battle Team Power at different points of the story. On the more Zelda side of things, you also have eight Temples hidden throughout the land, each of which contains an item important to the game's plot as well as a TM that teaches a move useful against Pokemon found within that Temple. Each temple is guarded by a pseudo-legend based on a classic Zelda boss. Pokemon and item utility is based on various Zelda items. You have the usual cutting, flying, swimming, and pushing, but C&W also features bombable walls and obstacles, digging, riding Pokemon to travel more quickly, jumping up cliffs, grappling across gaps, grabbing items from a distance, revealing hidden objects, etc. Basically, it's a hybrid of Pokemon and Zelda-style adventuring. In addition to Zelda, you meet other trainers on your journey who will accompany you. Many of these trainers can be befriended after their initial encounter, allowing you to bring them with you as a partner or battle them for experience. Instead of invisible random battles, Pokemon appear on the field. Battle is initiated when you make contact with a Pokemon. These are the Pokemon slots I have so far, including types and egg groups: Bear in mind names may not be final, and are mostly being used for description here.
  18. Both are Nintendo villains, Both have similar hairstyles, Both are dictators, Both have similar motives, And both are misanthropic!
  19. Hey guys, I don't normally post my own topics so I'm sorry if I'm posting in the wrong place! But anyhow, I went to GameStop yesterday with my girlfriend and like 4 friends and I asked for the dialga and palkia code thingy. And the cashier gave me 6 of them either by accident or one for each of my friends. As I'm the only one who plays Pokemon I ended up keeping them all. So I'm willing to give 5 away to you lovely people for some cool Pokemon. I won't go by first come first serve but more like, whoever offers the coolest Pokemon (shinies, legendaries, etc). Just to be clear these codes are from the EU so I'm not sure if they will work on US or AU devices, I could be wrong though...

  21. Welcome to a new short multi-chapter story called Daughter. This story is a companion fic to some of the other ones posted on here, and some future stories. Summary: "The sun was rising high in the sky, and there was still no sign of Holly." Short multi-chapter, companion fic to Holly Rising and future fic Usurping, AU, Erika-centric, fifth part of the Traveler series https://www.fanfiction.net/s/12791680/1/Daughter
  22. Is this a sign that a Fire Emblem X Pokemon crossover will happen in the future? Or they could consider hiring Fire Emblem voice actors for a future Pokemon Mystery Dungeon game with voice acting?
  23. So I was talking about this on discord, and now it's here. A Black and White draft. Nothing too crazy. Rulezzzz and shit - This draft is for 4 players. - HM Slaves are allowed, but they are not allowed to see battle. - As said in the title, you can't win this draft. It's just for fun. - If you don't pick a Pokémon within 24 hours, A Pokémon will be chosen for you at random. - The game ends when you defeat Ghetsis - Reshiram/Zekrom is free to use. - 6 Pokémon each, so a full team. - If you don't draft a starter, you can use an Emulator and the randomizer to change the starter Pokémon you drafted into one of the pokémon you drafted. - Optional but fun: Draw all your Pokémon Choices. Draftable Pocket Monsters: Playerz 1. Michelaar - Cottonee, Frillish, Woobat, Venipede, Virizion, Sigilyph 2. Emerson - Sawk, Roggenrola, Pansage/Pansear/Panpour, Foongus, Darumaka, Joltik 3. Orange Person - Munna, Tepig, Petilil, Scraggy, Tympole, Archen 4. SB - Minccino, Emolga, Vanillite, Litwick, Snivy, Basculin
  24. Back with a new topic for new fics! This topic is exclusively for Pokémon one shots, because that's one of the major fandoms that I write for. One-shots that have already posted to their own separate threads will not be posted here again. So here is the first fic! It's called Safety. Summary: Written for the Writer's Anonymous One Word Prompt Challenge. "The creature only knew the concept now, but it would later learn there was a word. The word was called safety." AU, Companion one-shot to Holly Rising. Link: https://www.fanfiction.net/s/12732169/1/Safety
  25. Yeah, so I never picked up Sun or Moon because reasons, they looked fine though. Now that Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon are out, I bought both and started playing Ultra Moon and I'm so curious as to how similar it is to the original? I've seen some people talking about the new stuff, but beside Mantine Surfing I haven't encountered anything else that appears to be new (I just got on island two by the way). It is really like Emerald to Ruby and Sapphire, where it's basically the same thing but more refined and perfected? I'll find out for myself one day, but Christmas is coming and I'm too broke to buy Sun or Moon at the moment... Anyway, to those that have played both, ever better if you've beaten both Original and Ultra, what are some of the differences? And what are some changes that you've preferred or didn't like? Just say anything basically, I'm really curious how much of my play through of Ultra Moon is, in reality, just Moon.
