  1. So despite Radiant Dawn being my third favorite game in the series, one of my gripes with it is the amount of story relevant stuff that happens in the narration. One particular scene I would have loved to see was the reunion between Reyson, Leanne, and Rafiel. So, I decided to write my idea of how that reunion, and the subsequent decision to invade Bengion, would have gone. I'll plan to post one chapter a week. I'd love any constructive criticism you guys can offer (in this thread), whether it's writing style, grammar, or characterization. Hope you all enjoy reading it as much as I did writing it!
  2. Hi guys! It's been a VERY long time since I've been to serenes forest and I've recently played both tellius games again. As a result, I've been able to pinpoint exactly what made the previous games so great from a story-standpoint...character development. Bare in mind these are just my opinions as I'm not claiming they're objectively good or even better than modern fire emblem...these are just my opinions. WARNING! I HAVEN'T YET PLAYED FATES (though I've seen a lot of it) SO THIS REALLY ONLY APPLIES TO AWAKENING! Elincia-in path of radiance she eventually gains the courage to fight on the battlefield and lead her country. In RD she is a first a weak and naive ruler who can't keep order as she's too caring for her own citizens. She learns the hard way through Ludveck that sometimes you have to sacrifice your own citizens to benefit the overall population (spend lives in order to avoid a bloody civil war). She becomes stronger in this way as a character. Shiharam-not only do I believe he's the best Camus in the franchise but the fact that they show you what the villagers and his own soldiers think of him makes his battle a very emotional one (as he was a valuable asset and a good friend to many people). I found that Mustafa in awakening pales by comparison as we don't get nearly as much information about him. Overall, while Shiharam didn't really get any development, I still cared a lot about him and was legitimately saddened when I had to kill him in PoR. The fact that you can have his own daughter kill him is pretty gruesome and the fact that the game takes the time to flesh out his death makes it FAR more interesting than any Mustafa or Camus I've ever encountered Skrimir-what starts off as another hot-headed, arrogant commander turns out to actually get some interesting development. After he loses to general Zelgius he's forced to reconsider his attitude towards strength and his overall confidence in his ability. He essentially finally sees the strength in planning and intelligence rather than brute force only and I found this pretty interesting to watch him grow as a character like this. Jill-this character is probably my favorite in the entire series. She starts off as another glory-seeking soldier who wants nothing more than to bring fame to her family's name. After defending Ike from the laguz pirates out of her hatred for the laguz she sticks around for a while and, slowly but surely, overcomes her racism towards the laguz. She even becomes so loyal to Ike's cause that she can (if you make her) kill her own father because he was in the way. And the way she reacts was heart breaking seeing her cry like that. The fact that she can potentially even join her father's side only adds more depth to her as a character. Ultimately, THIS is why I prefer the older games' stories to the modern ones as they actually had meaningful character development. Sure the tellius series had fan service and one note characters as well but it certainly was no where near as bad as awakening. Characters like Owain or Inigo, while they have "depth" (mainly tragic excuses for their annoying behavior), aren't nearly as interesting to me as some of the older characters. Sadly, not many people still care about great characters or interesting stories in games as, as long as MUH GAMEPLAY is handled correctly, nobody gives a shit anymore. As for that competitor to fire emblem I was working on...it's canceled (for now). While I do want to play a fire emblem game with good stories again I don't have the skills necessary to make such a thing. Because, if fates doesn't have a good story and the future games don't have good stories or characters either... *stares at noose* It's time....
  3. This is my first playthrough and I'm about to start part 4. I know certain units are required for each team, but beyond that, are there any units that are suited to any particular team, or should I just try to evenly spread out my strongest units? I'm playing on Easy if that matters.
  4. I want to either change Formshift to work like Wildheart, or replace it as a class skill by Wildheart(the version you can revert from). My hex editing skills and knowledge is very lacking, so I wanted to ask if anyone knows which values exactly I would need to change. Adding wildheart as a class skill to the other laguz would be neat as well, but my main question is the above
  5. Hello everyone, some days ago an small article I wrote was finally published in Source Gaming. This article is about "How would work Micaiah in Smash Bros?". You can read it here: http://sourcegaming.info/2016/12/22/ds-micaiah/ What do you think? Do you like it? Do you have a question about the moveset or my reasons to write this article?
  6. If anyone can tell me the name of this song, I'd really appreciate because it sounds so good and I just can't find out the name of it. Here is the video that plays it: P.S. The song plays at 7:38
  7. Hi so I just got Fire emblem Radiant Dawn and even though I won't play it until after I beat Path of Radiance, I was wondering if there are any tips to help me since I heard how tough the game is.
  8. Personally, like a lot of people, I got into Fire Emblem with Awakening. However, my interest in that game led me to discover the rest of the series, thanks to the E-Shop releases of Blazing Sword and Sacred Stones. Now, I've also played Heroes of Light and Shadow, Binding Blade, and Genealogy of the Holy War. I really want to play the Tellius games, but have yet to get the chance due to their extreme prices online, and I am uncomfortable with emulating games that have been officially released in English. The Wii U has a Wii section on the virtual console, and due to the recent E-Shop release of Shadow Dragon for the DS section, I feel that their would be little problem with making Radiant Dawn available. Does anyone think Nintendo may do this in the future, or are people who weren't into the Fire Emblem in 2008 doomed to never legitimately play it?
  9. Specifically, I'm talking about the tracks labeled "Enemy Battle Theme (1)" and "Player Battle Theme" on this page, in the "Hidden and Unused Tracks" section. To me, it sounds very much like "Enemy Battle Theme (1)" was intended to be the theme used for "battle" sequences associated with status ailment staves, while "Player Battle Theme" was to be used for restorative and supportive staff sequences. The internal file names—"fe10_bgm_btl_cp_wm1_32k.brstm" and "fe10_bgm_btl_pl_wm1_32k.brstm", respectively—could be consistent with this, considering that the "wm" in "wm1" likely stands for "white magic". They would've gone unused due to the animations for actually using the magical functions of staves being relegated to only map animations. I don't know if this goes here, but it's relevant to how this is labeled on the site, so...
  10. So, I recently got myself a Nintendo Wii and a copy of Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance. I still need to get myself a GameCube Controller so that I can play Path of Radiance, but I have some questions. Do I need to get myself a SD card for my Wii so that I can transfer saved data from Path of Radiance to Radiant Dawn? I'm thinking yes, as that means that I can save my Saved data from Path of Radiance onto the SD card? I just want some clarification, as I know the feature is there, but I just don't know how it works. Thank you. :)
  11. I finished this game a few months back and am somewhat thinking on doing a 2nd playthrough for Lehran stuff. Though I still haven't played PoR and as I recall, this game's chapters are freakishly long, especially those survive chapters takes the cake for it which makes it somewhat discouraging to replay. So should I do a 2nd run or should I do PoR first?

  14. The Tellius series are my favorite Fire Emblem games, so i was curious to see the who were the most popular characters. Since i feel like overall they had a strong cast and a lot of the personalities were explored even though RD lacked a support system with convos For me Top 5 females: 1.Ilyana- from the moment i met her i just loved her plus she was the first character i knew how to recruit even before i had played fire emblem. I was reading this gaming magazine and it had a fire emblem article on how to recruit some characters Ilyana being one of those and for some reason she stuck with me since then. After playing the game her constant hunger and tiredness from hunger just won me over, even if she was a character that you need to take care of in order to make strong i just couldnt help myself but to always have her in my playthrough's not only that but her support and relationship with zihark still remains one of my favorite fire emblem support and ship. She also is my favorite fire emblem female ever and character overall tied with Ike 2.Titania- oh titania she is the representative strong unit you get in the beginning of every game and damn was she strong when i first got into the game, titania was my tank she pretty much just killed everyone and back then i was a noob so i didnt went for strong balanced armies and would just let titania single handly win most battles. I find this to be one of the reasons why i love her so much, not only that but i also enjoyed her personality and her relationship of mentor and mother she had with the whole group and Ike 3.Nephenee- she is quiet, a bad ass and strong unit what is there not to love. I tend to have a thing for quiet characters so nephenee just insta won me over. I do wish though we got to see more of her personality which in my opinion wasnt explored as much 4.Sigrun- she is wise, smart and strong even when she wasnt playable in PoR she always had special place in my list but after getting to know her more during RD she just won me over, with her personality. 5.Jill- i love jill's personality and overall story arc in the game she was a really complex character that really grew and learned alot during the game which to me made her so lovable mix that with her at times strict or stern personality and is a winner Special mention: Marcia and Lethe Top 5 guys: 1.Ike- I wont lie on my first play throught of PoR i did not like Ike, English isnt my first language and when i first played i didnt understand much plus given the fact that ike starts kinda not strong i just overall didnt use him and would find him a nuisance when in battle since i had to always protect him more so my fault tbh since i just focused on some specific units and i made everyone else weak. However, once i replayed the game for a second time and at that point my english was much better i found a new love for ike add that with the fact that now i would actually put time in the whole army to make them strong i discovered ike to be real strong and useful, from love to hate Ike became my fav lord ever and overall fav character with Ilyana. 2.Ranulf- he is by far my favorite laguz and i really enjoyed his upbeat personality yet seriousness when it came to the topics of war. I also really enjoyed his relationship with Ike and supports. When they got an ending together in RD i was just like set loved it 3.Zihark- he is complex and overall nice guy plus an awesome unit what is not to love, add that to him having a special relationship with Ilyana 4.Haar- quiet.strict yet loving killer combo for me, i really enjoyed his relationship with Jill and im so glad they end up canonically together if you built their support 5.Sothe- My love for Sothe is all mainly due to RD i did not care for Sothe in PoR but i really liked sothe in RD, and i also love his relationship with micaiah and their quarrels about ike lol Special mention: Muarim,Boyd, and Tibarn So yeah who are your fav characters this is not about stats wise and stuff of that nature, this is an overall type of list btw
  15. I didn't really understand what his Epilogue ment. I know I sound like an idiot but... Maybe I am one xD Thanks! Shinon lazes the days away in his old haunts. An expert at all he put his hand to, he chose none as his calling.
  16. A year ago my friend The Jonin Monkey reviewed the narrative of Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance and, in a supplemental video, touched on what made Ike's character in particular special, both of which I helped record footage for, and voiced Soren in the first. Today, he takes a look at the narrative of it's highly divisive sequel, Radiant Dawn, with it's own supplemental video dedicated to the infamous Blood Pact. Both videos I once again helped record footage for, on top of casting and directing VAs for dialogue scenes and editing the blood pact video. This has therefore been a pet project of ours for a while now and we'd appreciate any feedback we can get, so be sure to give it a watch and tell me what you think:
  17. Been looking on the FE9 and FE10 pages for backgrounds during conversations, and the spriters recourse at feplanet, but I can't find the background images for conversations like the deain throne-room or any of the tent backgrounds. If anyone can point me in the right direction, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks in advance.
  18. I've better things to do than waste my time for empty internet points. I'm making this my hobby, like it should be.
  19. These are the games I played in the series: FE1DS, FE3 Book 2 DS, FE4, FE6, FE7, FE8, & PoR. And I don't remember an Axefighter as bad as Nolan! First, what's his growths? He doesn't seem to gain more than 1 stat each level up, & in RD that's the minimum. Right now I'm in C1-2 & he repeatedly can't land hits on lance soldiers which he should have WTA to? Not even Johalva or JOURNEYMAN Ross was this bad; now I regret not transferring a stat capped Boyd.
  20. Is there a full list of enemy reinforcements of the part 4 chapters? I'm now at 4-3 desert & at turn 14 a whole flight of dragonmasters teleport in, some more reinforcements teleport in the next turn, then on turn 16 Sages with arc tomes teleport in to surround my units From 4-3 on are the chapters like that one in FE6 with the endless wyvern riders until Roy seize the chapter objective? I'm on NM
  21. How many, estimating, characters will I be able to get capped? Like, do Laguz fighters count for 2 people capped, as they take so long, or what? I'm about to kick off this run (Because I can't do it on easy) and I'm just hesitant about every little thing. Any tips that should be known? How should I use my Bonus XP, and when?
  22. Oh boy hard mode is really hard in this game! But yeah this is my newest Let's Play on my channel thought I should share it considering it is FE after all and also hard mode which is always a lot of fun. But hopefully you guys enjoy watching me suffer through the Dawn Brigade. I'm also setting up some rules that i'll follow: 1: Broken characters like Haar, Gatrie, Shinon and others will be removed from team as soon as possible 2: no Laguz with unlimited transformation can be used (exception is Kurthnaga) 3: Follow all criteria for the best ending https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b_ojMDDZ6YU
  23. Hey guys, There's going to be a charity speedrunning marathon coming up next week called the RPG Limit Break. In the past two years, it was initially called Crystals 4 Life, and initially was a speedrunning marathon for Final Fantasy games, but it's expanded to include other games from the RPG/strategy genre. For this year, the RPG Limit Break is raising money for the National Alliance on Mental Illness, and the marathon is opening with me running Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn (No pressure at all!) The marathon itself will be May 12-16 in Salt Lake City. It'll be livestreamed on http://www.twitch.tv/rpglimitbreak (I recommend going to that link for more information about the marathon, including the schedule itself). My run will be on noon MST on May 12th. I'll be speedrunning any% easy mode, with PoR transfers. It's the same category as the (awesome) run gwimpage did for Awesome Games Done Quick 2015, with a few updated strats (including the fast enemy phase trick dondon found, saving a crapton of time!) and a different donation incentive. Since it's not in a bid war against path of radiance, I offered an incentive to save or kill the waifus units, since Astrid+Ilyana+Marcia are killed off in chapter 3-E to save about one minute. So you should all donate to kill them off and save me a minute ;) The current record is at 2:37:35 held by me which can definitely be improved (I'm hoping to improve it on my stream this week) but it's not too bad of a run at the moment. I honestly want to put this game down after the marathon run and getting a 2:36 (maybe a 2:35), then go to learning Path of Radiance but learning PoR isn't going to be for a while :P Anyways, it'd be great if you guys spread the word about the marathon as a whole. I'm really looking forward to flying over to Utah next week, though also very nervous about running FE10 :P Also, if you have any suggestions for anything fun we can do, commentary-related, feel free to share them as well since I'm trying to come up with some fun things. Obviously I'll play out the Ike vs. Black Knight fight scene, I might also get someone to read out the silly death comments of the dawn brigade while Haar/Titania kill them off in chapter 3-E...
  24. Hi, guys. I have been inactive for a while, but I would like to introduce you to my fan-game that is being made in RPGMaker VX. It's a little different from the usual Fire Emblem game, but still incorporates the usual roster of characters, skill selection, battles requiring some form of logical thought etc. I'm quite well known in the RM community ( having being around for the better part of 5+ years with two completed games under my belt and a 3rd on the way ) but I figured it would make sense to introduce a fan project on a fan-site first. =) This is an off-shoot from Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn and takes place towards the end of the game. I've stripped the story down to its bare minimum ( actually, everything can be summed up in the intro ) and will focus on the battles that take place inside the Tower of Guidance. No character serves as a central role. In here, pretty much any character can finish off Ashera. Features - - Features mouse support and zero maps. - Tag-Team battling. It's your duo against extremely powerful Order enemies. - Does not features the traditional 'grid-based, chess-like' approach. Instead, the usual turn-based nature of the JRPG is used. - One wrong move can spell defeat for your entire party. Careful thinking is required, especially on Hard/Lunatic mode. - 15 characters ( since its only in demo mode ), but I do plan to add more. - Every unit and enemy is at level 60. All units were raised before the start of the game with their best growth-rate set. In the case of the PoR characters, those growths have been merged with their RD growths. So Elincia has a 65% Str and 80% Mag growth. XD Still a Glass Cannon, though. - A large array of weapons and skills to get the upper-hand over your foes. - Four game difficulties ( can be changed at any point, so you can go from Easy to Lunatic in an instant ). Screenshots: Videos: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v5s3MEgm2lk Character selection scene. lol, there's no-one from Part IV yet. Stupid paladins... I should have got rid of them first. It took me 17 minutes to clear all five waves.
