  1. Since today's Nintendo Direct not only reveal Nintendo 64 Online is coming, but the Sega Genesis Online was very unexpected reveal for Nintendo Switch Online since this is the first 3rd Party Console added to the Nintendo Switch Online library as well. Since this is now possible, what other 3rd Party Consoles do you like to coming to Nintendo Switch Library since Sega Genesis Online now become a thing? I was thinking a TurboGrafx-16 Online, a Sega Master System Online since we don't have much Sega Master System games on the Sega Ages Collection for the Nintendo Switch eShop, and and maybe a SG-1000 Online for the first time on a Nintendo console definitely needs to happen.
  2. (Thread permitted by eclipse - apologies for my blunder earlier) Twitter ・ Website [includes demo link!] What is Bright Blades? Bright Blades is an SRPG Studio game I'm currently working on. As the blurb implies, It's a casual, retro-style game. My goal was to create something that was cute and accessible, something that newcomers to the SRPG genre would be able to pick up without intimidation. I think a lot of developers want to focus on creating something really deep and challenging and fair play to them, I think there's a good audience for that, but me? I just wanted to make something bright and adorable: with a tone somewhere between an old school NES game and a Saturday Morning Cartoon. A demo is available on my website, covering the first seven chapters (including the prologue). Click here to head over and start playing - and please let me know your feedback! What's it about? "Once upon a time in the land of Aethara, gods and mortals lived in harmony. But Mankind shattered that peace, raising the Kingdom of Oberon to make war upon the gods. Alone and broken, the last goddess fled to the city of Titania and blessed her knights, the valkyries, with the power to safeguard creation. 1000 years later, the war still rages on..." Bright Blades follows the story of Titania's Princess Freya. For centuries, her people have used their divine might to resist Oberon's invasions. When the Kingdom suddenly turns the tide, sacking her city with creatures called "Godslayers", Freya is charged by her mother with finding a Bright Blade; a legendary weapon whose power may be Aethara's last hope. What can I expect? As you've probably guessed, Bright Blades is not a very serious game. It's not a comedy but it is an intentionally lighthearted story about good, evil, and magic swords. We're using a "Mostly NES" colour palette for everything; only bending the rules a little here and there, to replicate the look and feel of 8-bit games. I've been doing the bulk of the game work myself: doing the maps, writing, development, UI, animations, battle backgrounds... Basically, everything but the character designs and portraits and the soundtrack (which was composed by Johnathan Johnson of Brilliant Shadows and Women of Xal fame). A lot of our graphic work is still being developed, but I wanted to make sure that our game had a different look from most SRPG Studio projects right out of the gate; so I didn't want to show off the project without at least getting something down for everything. We want to make something small and manageable, which also extends to how we've designed the game. Small inventories and party sizes, as well as finite shop stocks, mean you can't just load up a few units with all your best weapons, and we've tried hard to differentiate the 20+ character classes. Templars can heal and protect their friends on the frontlines, Bards support allies and weaken foes with mystical songs, Cannoneers blast targets to bits from a range, and Witches fly through the air raining magic upon their foes. There will be at least 25 maps, each with unique mission objectives: from routing armies and seizing castles to freeing prisoners, finding ancient relics, and saving enemy villages from forced conscription. We want to avoid repetition in chapter goals, ensuring that each level has its own unique feel. As part of that, most missions also have hidden events dotted about the place: which can power up your units, shed new light on the world of Bright Blades, or even unlock special new weapons and abilities.I'm hoping to release a demo soon to show people what we've been working on but, until then, here's a few pics of what we've got so far. Hope you enjoy, and by all means tell me what you think so far! What does it look like?
  3. Hello guys, it has been a while doesn't it? Today I bring you my first go on nightmare modules: A rebalance project on Fire Emblem : Gaiden You see, some days ago I tried to play this old gem since echoes it's so far away from my hands and I just drop it at the beginning of CH3. Some could say it was the difficulty, but what really brush me in the wrong way was the fact that you need to grind in order to avoid frustration in the near future, and I really hate games with that kind of mindset, so I decided to give it whirl and make it better. *UPDATE* VERSION 2.0 IS OUT Changelog: - All units on both routes got their bases & growths rates completely redone in order to avoid empty level ups (I played this whole thing twice and I haven't get an empty level yet) or units which are completely useless (I'm looking at you Boey). - All weapons were changed in order to both bring a balance between power vs speed and create a more unique artillery - Magic spells got buffed since they don't scale with skill in order to ensure they are relevant the entire game - All classes base stats were changed in order to both nerf overpower enemies (the mercenary tree) and make other stand out (soldier tree) - Several changes were made to make sure the game is beatable even without the use of stat boost via the Lion Heads - New palettes for both player and enemy units: With this out of the way, here's the file: https://www.dropbox.com/s/lekrcdzoekzhsh4/FE2 MR v2.0.rar?dl=0 (You only need to patch a clean file, please don't use any translation or anything) ***VERY IMPORTANT***: This mod has been tuned with the EASY MODE in mind, please do not play it under NORMAL MODE unless you really want a BAD TIME If anyone can give me some feedback and suggestions, I would be glad
  4. https://www.twitch.tv/gigisimmons If anyone is interested in finding a new chill spot to enjoy some FE playthroughs, come hang sometime. FE won't be the only game I will stream of course, but at the moment I mostly stream that. Come watch me mess up! No capture card at the moment, but I'll eventually stream a variety of games I have in my game library. I have a bunch of systems to play off of ranging from retro to brand new. Either way, come chill sometime, it will be great to have you there! Starting a playthrough for Fire Emblem on the GBA and Fire Emblem Sacred Stones. I'll be going back and forth between the two and FE: Path of Radiance which I already started. Come hang out, enjoy the nostalgia!
  5. Hello everyone, It's great to discover a community like this. I was referenced by a viewer during one of my streams of FE and I had no clue of this site. Seems really cool and a lot of good information to be found. I have always loved playing Fire Emblem ever since I was a child. My first FE was FE: Sacred Stones and I played that through at least a few times. Still had trouble getting ever one in the game! Anyways, I stream a variety of games if anyone is interested in finding a new chill spot online. At the moment GameCube games is all I have been streaming. I'm getting a capture card soon and I plan on streaming all PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo systems. I'll probably get the GameBoy emulator running soon as well. So that finishes my introduction. I really did not know what to put here except my interests in video games, but I guess that's appropriate since this site is based on video games. Hope everyone's enjoying life and I hope to talk to you sometime on here or during one of my streams. https://www.twitch.tv/gigisimmons
  6. So if you have been around Gamestop.com lately you will have noticed that they are now selling retro titles, consoles, and accessories from the NES, SNES, Genesis, N64, PS1, and Dreamcast. http://www.gamestop.com/collection/retro-classics They are not yet selling them in store unfortunately but the prices are pretty similar to amazon and ebay if not slightly more expensive for some titles. Console packages are not too bad although NES, SNES are not in stock. To be honest it doesn't really save you any money and the prices are not the best. Further adding problems is that other than the consoles they don't detail all you are getting (manual case etc). I was kind of hoping they would move towards having this stuff in store given the surge in popularity in retro titles. While it would take up shelf space I do think it would behoove them in an age of digital downloads to sell retro stuff physically in the store. Moreover being a bigger chain company they can afford to sell these things for much less than mom and pop shops and still profit off it which perplexes me as to why they are not cheaper (yes I know they want to maximize profit but if you're offering the same price as everyone else then there is no incentive to buy your stuff over others). Anyhow check it out see if you find anything you fancy.
  7. I don't normally like to just repost articles but this struck my eye as I have a fancy and hobby for collecting now. Gamestop is launching a pilot to buy and sell classic games, systems, and controllers dating back to the NES. The pilot will start on April 25th at which time they will accept trade ins for about 2 months to build up an inventory. Currently it is slated to launch in 250 store locations in the NYC and Birmingham markets. http://www.ign.com/articles/2015/04/15/gamestop-to-offer-classic-consoles-and-games I fell pretty conflicted about this. On one hand if this becomes a hit and they do this across all their locations then it can make finding older games like Path of Radiance easier to find and not to mention cheaper than they go for on ebay sure they'd sell it to you for like $50 used but compare that to paying over $100 for a complete set. On the other hand if this does become big it'll be a major blow if not fatality to small mom and pop shops who deal in this kind of thing which kinda sucks. I didn't really see them coming out to do this as I always kinda thought of gamestop as keeping with the times and at most selling stuff a generation behind. However, the more I think about it with things like digital downloads, license keys, and the ebbing away of physical copies in new games I could see how this makes sense and is another avenue that they are trying to make money.
  8. Karin, Trabant, Halvan RULES THAT YOU MUST FOLLOW: No mass Customization. You may custom a bit to make your mug look good/making it work, such as reshading, but try not to go overboard. You can use any color palette. You aren't chained to FE colors, go ahead and recolor to your hearts content. Only use the set given, no other mugs. Recommended color limit: 16 (15 on your mug +1 for background). This is a flexible rule, but be cautious with your color count as a general rule of thumb for good pixel art. The winner will be determined by voting. If there is a tie, the poll will be edited to include only the ties, and re-voted upon. Don't vote for yourself or I will cry sad tears devoid of mod power. Hosts may enter contests. Only 1 mug per member. Winner of the contest will choose the next set (and should select an interesting/spliceable combination). Deadline: Sunday, March 30th, 2014. Have fun!
