  1. While I have played sacred stones before in the past, it was when I was still relatively new to the franchise, so it was on the easiest difficulty... That and I used a copious amount grinding. I'm attempting to play it again after nearly a year or so, this time on a higher difficulty due to my increase in FE knowledge, so I wanted to ask. Who are some of the best units? I've heard Seth unlike most jaigens (not sure if spelled right :/) is actually very good but than again I've learned to take stuff I read on the Internet with a grain of salt, so I'm not sure...

I have downloaded the randomizer, fix patch, and followed the instructions (swapping 7 for 8 where needed) found here: http://serenesforest.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=46886 When I go into the randomized file I will get Eirika as, say a wyvernrider. They use lances. The item I get from Seth is still a rapier which causes the game to not work. Anyone know what I can do to fix it? Thanks in advance!
  3. All right. I have a bit of a problem to deal with. Basically I imported the animations of a female Hero from FE6 to FE8 and the animations worked fine. Next, I changed the female Mercenary's promotion path into just the female Hero via the Promotion Branch Editor module. And again, it worked fine. However, the issue comes into play when I branched the promotion paths of the female Mercenary; to the standard options of female Ranger and female Hero. When I tried to promote the class, the game stalls at a black screen as it gets to the choosing part.The music continues to play but the game itself freezes. I tested again, but with the male Hero as an option instead of the female one, and it worked. Finally, I tested it with another class with a custom animation and the game freezes once again. I figured out that it was the custom animations that was causing the problem, but I just can't get a solution for it. (The indices of the imported and custom animations are CA and beyond fyi so does it have to do something with it?) I'm a complete n00b when it comes to hex editing but does it have to do something with it? Sorry if this is long-winded but I tried to give as much detail as I could. Do I have to resort to single-path promotions with custom animations or is there a way to have branched promotions with them?
  4. So, I've been playing the game on hard mode alot recently, and comparing all modes together, I came to a notice that the RNG does in fact get 'altered' on HM. Enemies would hit more often than not and criticals are kept to a minimum. Is this true or am I just unlucky? I'm sure someone thought of this before as well.

Say, after re-reading the entirety of Sacred Stones Saga (and magvel lores, whatever few exists), as well as reading some discussions of why Lyon (esp in Eirika's route) is a tragic figure worthy of Greek Tragedy, in a sense that his actions destroy the very thing he try to save in the first place (saving Grado from devastating earthquake and such by using Grado's Black Stone who contains the soul of Formortis) But as I admit I'm also a fan of alternate scenario "what if", so, what if the story has the same characters (while OCs can be used to fill un-important units and bosses as such), but taking a different Protagonist (Hero), and Villain? So well, either the Earthquake disaster foretold to hit another nation that isn't Grado (or Carcino because they're republic), and the villain try to avert this by successfully stolen Grado's Stones (and still predictably get possessed by the Demon King). OR the disaster isn't foretold, but already happened before Lyon even get corrupted, resulting in weakened Grado, and in exploiting the weakness of the biggest nation, someone who corrupted by the Demon King decides to invade other nations to sow Chaos for return of Demons and Monsters? ----------------------------------------------------------------- Yeah, I have an idea about a kind of "What If Scenario", with Heroic Dark-Magic using Lord, Prince Lyon's journey to recover Grado's Sacred Stones before the Demon King is released... and since the only magic-using prince/princess in Magvel is... L'Arachel *cough* *cough*... she could be the one who get a vision that Rausten will engulfed in total disaster, so she try to avert this by using sacred stones' power, but her uncle dies before he could even giving her proper counsel over this. And in this scenario, the real Point of Divergence begin when Riev, of all people, is not excommunicated from Rausten, but managed to worm his way up to Rausten's top clergy, and end up as second in command under the Divine Emperor Mansel. And since Rausten apparently control most of the Religious groups in Magvel, the corrupted Church managed to worm their way in every other nations, as well as secretly using "light magic" to raise people from the dead (but with secret switch so they're fully under Demon King's control without nobody else knowing). So basically, they managed to form a large army rivalling even Grado... Grado's sacred stones was stolen by clergy (and replaced by fake stones) And they invade their sister nation of Jehanna,.. declaring a "Holy War" to conquer all of Magvel. Grado and Renais tried to help, but found themselves overwhelmed by the religious fanatics, formed largely from their own citizens... And uh, well... since Prince Lyon is a Dark Magic user... bonus points if the Holy War in question was aimed to "Eradicate All Dark Magic" and making him a prime target... And since no other prince/princess other than protagonist comes as Lord, maybe Ephraim will be Paladin this time... and Eirika could be a myrmidon, because Lyon will be a Lord, and Dark Magic using Lord, who get promoted into "Dark Lord". And, uh, well... there could be some other side plots too... like what if the "Demon King" instead summoning clear monstrous beings, actually summons his own monsters that "traditionally" viewed as a good magical beings (like elves, angels, treants, etc) and their reanimated 'zombies' is mostly indistinguishable from normal human, but still having some kind of obvious clue (like glowing golden eyes like Nergal's morphs). While Grado's "Dark" Sorcerers tried to salvage the situations but founding themselves overwhelmed by sheer amount of light magic using people (hey, light beats dark magic) ---------------------------------------- Of course, another villain (as long as it wasn't Lyon), and another protagonist (not from Renais) is good to go... Any other suggestions? And yes, I think this as a start of a plan for alt-universe romhack, with bonus points of not needing a lot of custom sprites and portraits (since we'll re-use or modify a little of the original contents afterall)

  10. Hello everyone! I've been getting to know my way around both Nightmare and FEeditor lately, and all my practices and experiments have been going smoothly so far. However, there has been one little blip that I have been unable to resolve yet. I have attempted to reintroduce Axe Paladins back into Sacred Stones, and that has worked fine so far. I have gone into Custom Battle Animation Editor with Nightmare, and made an entry for Paladins with all three weapon types. Following what the Ultimate Guide says, I then take the hexadecimal value that the custom animation set is located at, and then paste it in the box in the Class Editor for animations. Therein lies the problem. The Sacred Stones module, rather than having an entry box for the hex value, has a drop down list, which lists all the already existing animations, but doesn't allow for any other spaces. Is there some way to expand this list, or perhaps replace one entry in the list to point instead to the custom animation offset? If this is not possible (which I suspect is the case), I do possess a Hex Editor, but I have almost no experience using it, and my attempts to have so far given me no results. Would someone kindly explain how to replace one set of animations (Specifically the default Paladin animations) with another set (specifically the custom set) without screwing everything up? Thank you in advance.

Alrighty so recently I started hacking FE8 for my own personal amusement but then ran across 2 problems heh I am so used to hacking SNES FE games that I don`t completely understand the GBA ones So yeah I know there are many GBA FE hackers out there so this should go rather fast I hope my current problems are. 1.How do you edit chapter units? enemy units in special. player ones I have handled well except starting classes for players. Anyway I want to edit enemies in tower of Valni and Lagdou Ruins the tower I want to class up the enemies and make them stronger but I can`t because the Army editor thing looks like junk data to me. Most all the lists say Seth in it or Eirika and Ephraim where are the enemies at? you know the Skeletons and Zombies and stuff so I can change them properly. 2.how do you edit chapter maps properly? I am in creature Campaign and would like to change some of the maps I see some interesting ones in the list such as debug map etc. but when I try to change say Narube River to it or another map it...does not go well and i know no other way top access other maps or replay certain chapters such as chapter 19 I tried putting it on the River map and it was glitched. Also on a side note but this is not as important as the two questions above Why won`t the Demon kings weapon nightmare work on my side? I tried everything i could think but it refuses to work My team can`t seem to be able to use that weapon period which is odd.

  13. I try to edit my units in nightmare modules but when I go into chapter unit editor instead of 0x01 being Erika it's just a bunch of muddled up information like her name is Bandit and her level is 148 or something. What should I do?
  14. Hey guys, I am a lapsed FE player who is getting back into the FE series. I've also been lurking on these forums for the past month or two before finally deciding to register. I first got into Fire Emblem with The Sacred Stones, then worked my way backwards with FE7, FE4, and FE6 though Sacred Stones was the only game that I've ever beaten... I then lost interest in the series for a few years. I did pick up Shadow Dragon, but I was very disappointed in the game, feeling that it was a step backwards from the GBA FE's, especially with the lack of support conversations. During December 2012, I had a burning itch to play Ocarina of Time 3D, so I got myself a 3DS XL and OoT 3D. A few months later, I saw Fire Emblem Awakening on the store shelf. I remembered seeing FEA going for ~$53+ on Amazon, so when I saw the retail store price (~$34.99, if I recall correctly), it seemed like a really good deal, so I went ahead and bought it. I didn't actually play the game until around three months after buying it due to college, but once I started playing it, I really enjoyed it. Having been used to the GBA FE's, some of the things in FE13 initially threw me off, such as how secret shops are handled and the lack of an S weapon rank, but once I adjusted, it became a really fun, and highly addictive game. I then discovered the Serenes Forest Forums, and I've been lurking for the past month or two before finally deciding to register. So, um, yeah... Hi everyone...
  15. Hey all. I've noticed that there are no editors and no documentation on editing the properties of terrain in Sacred Stones, so I've started a little project to fix that. Fortuitously, terrain data is structured identically in FE7 and FE8 - the only real difference is the location of the tables. Because of this, I have been able to simply adapt the FE7 terrain modules for my purposes. The modules here will allow you to edit the defence/avoid/resistance bonuses given by terrain, the percentage HP they regenerate each turn, and the movement point penalty that different types of units incur when crossing terrain. You can find them here: Terrain Editors Note: It is possible to edit the amount of HP regained per turn from terrain in Blazing Sword, as well. The most convenient way is to set the Terrain Stat Editor to use thirteen tables instead of six. Also also! I have ported over the Support Compatibility Editor to FE8. With this you can change how fast supports grow between characters as well as who can support with whom. Here's the link to the appropriate Nightmare files: Support Editors This was another simple one. The only difficulty was figuring out the order characters were listed in the support table...honestly, I'm not sure why this wasn't done earlier. Finally, I've ported the S-rank Bonus editor to FE8. Finding the offset of the data was kinda tricky, but not really.   16. Remember those monster classes back in sacred stones? (If you played it that is, sorry if you haven't). Those felt awesome the first time I saw them, and don't get me started on the upgrades, I mean, DEATHGOYLE, it doesn't get much better than that in my opinion. I feel as if they could have made a triumphant return in awakening, beyond the simple revenant and entombed variety, althouh the nod is appreciated. Instead of having a mercenary with a goofy risen mask, you could have had a big ol' skeleton warrior thing with a sword charging around with some great name, like bonewalker, or something. I don't know, I enjoyed sacred stones way to much, I like the idea at least. I am curious though, how would you fell if all the little risen were replaced by some good old fashioned wight creatures, if you like it, what would you replace some of the classes with for said creatures?
  17. I had this thought a small bit ago. What if Sacred Stones had done what Fire Emblem Gaiden [the game that inspired it no less] did with Alm and Celica in having 2 alternate teams you switched between depending on the chapter. When Eirika and Ephraim split up, Do you think they could have divided their forces with a set group or 2 groups you picked [kinda like FE10's final set of chapters before the Tower]? I'd have liked it a bit I think, just have certain new characters show up only in either side and you get a more complete story that way, granted the personal Lyon interactions later might be gone as a result and that would be kind of sad I suppose. So what do you think?
