  1. Hey everyone! Remember in like 2014 when I started like 234092 projects (I counted them, a painstaking effort) and finished precisely zero of them? No? Good. I'd prefer we leave that in the past (and if the answer is yes my apologies and please never bring it up again thank you). I've kind of got out of the trying anything creative ever scene since then and have been more or less enjoying games by myself but there are a few problems with that I've run into: 1) Buying way too many games and never committing to finishing, or hell, starting, them. 2) Spending way too many hours in a game doing monotonous tasks to no real goal or replaying games. Case in point: Now it's not that I haven't been having any fun playing Stardew Valley, and I still want to go for 100% achievements (because I obviously hate myself and don't value my time) but this is extremely excessive by my standards and I could be using the time more effectively. Like by working on school work or applying for jobs or trying to entertain friends and strangers on the internet through a web forum. Clearly the latter idea is the best one so I'm going to do that. Two weeks ago I had a cancer scare which shook me up a lot. I went in for blood screening on Friday and everything turned up negative, which is absolutely fantastic and I'm very thankful that I don't have to worry about my health more or less continuously anymore, but my mental health suffered a lot as a result and I've been thinking about a lot since then. I obviously enjoy video games, but they've been kind of taking over my life a lot lately, and I have to seriously address the two points I mentioned above. And I think a good way to do that is to make some kind of content thread. At best, I'll be regularly outputting fairly humorous content (aiming for twice a week to start) for people to enjoy. At worst, this will be a review thread where "this sure is happening all right" where I post every other week. I want to be realistic and address that sometimes life, via school work or my physical/mental health, can and does get in the way. I'm going to try to stick to something regular as best I can - no more unfinished progress, but it's a pre-warning in case things do get boring from time to time. Enough preamble though, I'm here to entertain, not depress everybody. One of my friends posted in a discord server that I'm in earlier this peculiar screenshot, in a tweet. The tweet OP seemed disgruntled but honestly, I ugly laughed. This is high art and if you disagree you are unfortunately incorrect. I was intrigued, so I found the source (slow link for some reason), downloaded it, and played the first little bit of it. It was kind of bad. Like the writing is kind of weird and the player character is kind of annoying but hey, misery makes great company and I think that a bad game can me more entertaining to write about than an acclaimed one. Also, Geodudes. So it can't be entirely awful. I didn't get far into it, so this is by and large going to be a BLIND playthrough. Which comes with its own challenges. I tend to be fairly grindy when it comes to playing Pokemon, and I won't be making an exception for this hack. I'm not going to grind up to super high levels just to beat the game, but I found myself a few levels below even the wild Pokemon by the time I reached the third route. I'll be trying to keep myself around parity and won't be documenting grinding, unless anything completely ridiculous happens. So, let's get to it, I guess. So that's that. I'm going to get started on a new project, and I'm kind of excited! At the bare minimum I'll try to upload every second Monday, but I'm going to aim for Mondays and Thursdays for the time being, or more often if motivation strikes. Please post anything you want in the thread, I love interacting with people and don't want to feel like I'm talking to a wall. Also huge shoutout to Integrity for basically showing me how to use the forums again. I've been bare effort posting lately and didn't know how images or spoiler tags even worked in this editor. I guess that makes me old or whatever. A Preview of Things to Come:
  2. Fingers crossed SF doesn't nuke my first post. What is this? This is a reversed recruitment playthrough of FE3 Book 2. What about Book 1? I did Book 1 in a thread in the Smashboards FE subforum. There weren't a whole lot of people reading regularly there, so I'm mirroring updates starting from Book 2 here so hopefully more people will be able to enjoy this nonsense. You can read the Book 1 run there if you wish. What patch are you using? One that I made myself. I might release it once I'm done with the run and fixed most of the bugs I've found, if there's enough interest. Who replaces who? Here, for those who want to know: Other stuff: In some other runs I've done, I did screenshots/gifs of each character level up. I have since decided this is "dumb" and "bad" because too much of my screenshots were being taken up by level ups rather than actual gameplay. So instead at the end of each update, there will be a "Stat Update" section to show how everyone is progressing and comment on it. Now on to the show. Featuring 2 chapters instead of the usual 1 cuz I felt like it! And also the updates individually were kinda short. Chapter 2-1: Chapter 2-2: Stat update: See y'all next time, probably with just one chapter.
  3. Felt like playing Conquest again, so I swapped all my FEH time over to Conquest time. There's not much to talk about in the FEH sub-forum if I don't, you know, actually play the game, so I figured I'd get screenshots working on my 3DS (via Luma3DS, so nothing official), and post a fairly casual playthrough of the game over here. Since it's a fairly casual playthrough, my focus would be more on the planning phase of the game rather than the execution. That is, I'll talk a bit about why I pick certain units and my reasoning behind them rather than focusing on how I spent 50 turns plinking a bowman on a fort tile or whatever. Table of Contents: 1, Pre-run Planning + Some Prologue Chapters 2, Chapter 3: Master Tactician Edition 3, Chapter 4 4, Chapter 5 5, Chapter 6: Operation Hug-box 6, Intermission, Mission Statement, and Math 7, Chapter 7 8, Chapter 8: Enter, Odin Dark 9, Paralogue 1 10, Chapter 9 11, Chapter 10: Camilla.exe 12, Invasion 1: Operation Nepotism 13, Chapter 11 14, Chapter 12: Everything Goes Better Than Expected 15, Chapter 13 16, Chapter 14 17, Chapter 15 18, Chapter 16: Crashes.jpg 19, Intermission II: Team Level & Stats 20, Chapter 17 21, Invasion 2 22, Chapter 18 23, Chapter 19 24, Chapter 20 25, Chapter 21 26, Chapter 22 27, Chapter 23 28, Chapter 24 29, Chapter 25 30, Chapter 26 31, Chapter 27 & Night Breaks Through: You Should Probably Read This Chapter First if You Want to Have a Relaxed Game of Conquest. Pre-run Planning: Ah, character creation. If you don't spend 2 hours on this step, you're doing it wrong. Gender is obviously the first choice you make, and a very important one. Due to level and availability related reasons, Jakob and Felicia are more or less the two most broken units in Conquest. Camilla comes close, coming in at 10 levels ahead of everyone else and staying ahead forever due to a low internal level, but her marginally worse availability and slower skill access means that, while she might well be the stronger, better unit compared to Jakob and Felicia, she's less broken from a overall perspective. Being female means you get Jakob, who takes less to get going and ends up with a bit more bulk at the end. On the other hand, it also means that you can't pass Samurai to any females (Vantage and L&D in the same class tree is fair and balanced) . So no Vantage L&D Savage Blow Camilla or any such nonsense. Being male would've gotten Felicia, who needs to grind tomes to get her offenses going, but ends up a tad better than Jakob if you're min-maxing her. But you do have to min-max her, whereas Jakob is pretty good even if you left him more or less alone. You also don't get to pass on Samurai to any males, but Kaze and Odin both already have access to it, so males don't care nearly as much. Pity you can't do things like marry Odin to Nyx to give her Samurai. Edit: You totally can, my memory is just shit. I picked female because black hair & white flower is optimal, obviously. Boons and Banes actually don't matter too much, because the Avatar starts with such nice growths already, having 45/30/45 Str/Mag/Spd and 35/25 Def/Res, so I went the lazy option of taking Unlucky because she has 25% luck growth even with a bane, and then taking Strong to counteract the minor penalty to her offensive stat. As a small note before starting the run, the run will be focused on testing whether or not Vantage L&D is as broken as I expect it to be, which means both testing it on Jakob (who gets the set with a 1-2 range weapon around chapter 10 if you rush straight for it), and also testing Kaze and Odin with the set, both of whom get it far later. Prologue Stuff: A very nice first level up, considering Corrin's job for the near future is going to be face-tanking everything for ages. (Lunatic is secretly extremely nice about level up screenshots, since even if I had to restart a chapter I don't have to take the level up screenshots again, since they'll be the same unless I class change.) Followed by a safe and secure end turn on a heal tile. Start of turn 2 spacing. Everyone moved as left as practical in order to try and make sure the AI doesn't end up in a vertical conga line that might delay things to the point where Kaze starts murdering my team. The Samurai has a throwing sword, so Jakob is spaced to handle it (he easily doubles the samurai's sad, -5 spd ass) and Corrin & Gunter rip apart the axe guy, getting her a nice offensive level. Double checking spacing before murdering Rinkah. If I remember correctly Gunther smacked her first, then Corrin moved to her left to finish her. Left Jakob for last because I wanted to use his turn to finish Rinkah if Corrin missed. But she didn't, so I healed Corrin instead. Screens like this (The 'Jagen' hitting an early game boss) should be pretty familar to anyone who plays Lunatic difficulties. It's simply not worth the effort to try and feed anyone else the combat exp (although obviously you take the last hit if possible) and risk the game over screen or losing a ton of healing items. Also note how completely reliable Gunter's survival was, even if Kaze somehow lived through the turn--Forceful Partner + Lance means that Corrin ORKOs the bottom samurai without any chance of a counter, and Jakob + Gunter has a 90%+ chance to explode the top samurai. The kid gloves are still on. Emphasis on 'if possible' about taking the last hit. A Gunter crit blew Kaze's face off. And clearing the stragglers gives Corrin another nice offensive level. Would like some more Def/Res, but she'll only be face tanking for a few more chapters, so it doesn't matter much.
  4. Well, today I got some rare free time, and decided to try playing Fates again after about a year hiatus. I thought I'd limit myself by trying an Ironman run. The Rules: 1: We will be playing on Lunatic/Classic 2: We will not reset if a unit dies. If my Corrin dies, I reserve the right to try again, or this might be a very short run. 3: No DLC grinding for XP or gold. Grinding supports in castle battles is okay. 4: I will limit myself to one "bought" skill per unit 5: No Bond units will be used, but "Captured" units are okay. 6: We will be starting after the route split. 7: Children paralogs will be played, if available, and children units are okay to use. 8: I will be skipping over most of the story for this LP, since it's more about seeing how well badly I do. 9: To make things interesting, I will let the audience pick who my Corrin will wed in holy matrimony. 10: If I forgot any rules, I reserve the right to add more rules. I've already married Jakob and Kaze in past playthroughs, so I prefer to try someone different, but we'll see how it goes. If the top choice dies before we can consummate the marriage, I'll try to pick the next top available choice. If anyone wants to visit my castle during this glorious campaign, my address is 05107-66614-62592-54117. Feedback and comments are always welcome! For Marriages and Stuff Summary as of Page 24
  5. This will be big. I'm sure you can tell that. This will be a giant PMU of Fates, where I try to use every unit in the game once in a PMU. I have the first one going on currently, and that is where we shall start. I will use this post to make quick summaries about each part of each run, as well as where you can vote for other members of later PMU's. So, let's see where this goes, shall we? First Run Here is a link to the place to vote if need be: Anyways, tomorrow, it's time to start the first episode, where we obtain Rhajat and get closer to finishing.
  6. Some years back, I started a randomized run of FE7 on another forum. In the nearly four years since, I've updated through Chapter 4 and the original forum has effectively died. I'm migrating the previous updates here, and while I plan on having Chapters 5 and 6 done before the weekend is up, this is still going to be an infrequently-updated LP. The Format I've randomized basically everything but unit movement, and the extent to which I randomized certain numbers was more or less decided by RNG in itself. In the event that the game becomes unplayable before Lyn's story ends, I'll restart; otherwise it's the end of the playthrough (unless it's a simple fix). After unlocking Eliwood's story I might re-roll just to keep things fresh; if I'm really bored I might do HHM with some more ridiculous changes. By and large, updates will be pictures and gifs with text commentary below. This will, unfortunately, include my attempts at humor, which in general are less amusing than the scenario itself. Failed attempts at chapters may be posted as their own updates, as sidebars in the chapter completion update, or ignored altogether depending on my whims. At this point I'm still undecided on how to handle unit losses past Lyn's story, so anyone who wants to chime in is more than welcome to. Previous Updates
  7. Hey everyone, Kobazco (just call me Kobe tho) here, bringing you my first screenshot lp! I've always really liked reading these, but never had a good excuse to start one of my own. I'm gonna keep commentary and such basic I think though, I don't see much of a reason to do anything over the top. Somethings to establish about this run/lp. Yes, this is Shadows of Valentia randomized. I randomize above level 1 units via a save editor. I randomize level 1 units by reclassing them via cheats. All randomization choices are done via a list randomizer including all classes. Sadly, I can't use the arcanist/cantor class as much as I want to due to magic lists not working (units won't learn spells) Additionally, the only gender specific class that I will abide to is the Cleric, as male Clerics will not learn heal/nosferatu for the above reason. All villager characters will be randomized upon their class change from villager, as there is no villager equivalent to random to. To make things.... interesting, no mila gear is allowed and this is an ironman run. I assume if you're reading this, you've already seen/played SoV, so I'll be skipping all story elements. Without further ado, let's begin.
  8. So, remember the time I said I wouldn't do another LP any time soon because I was busy? Yeah. I lied. "And the fabled tactician who almost destroyed the universe, right after sending half of his army to their deaths". Although, I definitely hope things don't go so badly this time around. Remember me? I played FE12 and it was horrible! It almost feels like it was only last week. Now I'm here to bring forth another work of locomotive malfunction and consequent derailment. I initially considered playing normal mode. Then I thought of playing normal but increasing the enemy growths a little, so it would be like a "not so hard" mode. Then I thought "fuck it, the only good thing of my last LP was me failing". Hard mode it is! If we make it past chapter 7, I'll be satisfied. Ruben, didn't you say you wouldn't have time for this? The thing about FE12 was that it had a number of factors that made it rather tedious to LP. The two screens forced me to go through long, dragged out sessions of cropping, the character sprites going dark when not actively talking made editing harder than it needed to be, and the lack of assets for FE12 on the internet and highly detailed sprites forced me to cut corners weirdly when editing. FE6 does not have any of these issues, which should make things easier for me. Does that mean we'll get an actual schedule this time? I intend to at least update every 3 days. Not as rushed as the main campaign, but not as hilariously slow as the chronicles. Will we get another terrible, self-insert fanfic? Can't you see the tag? I didn't read the last LP! What's all this talk about destroying the universe? Should I call 911? Go ahead and read it! It's right there in my signature, along with a reader's recommendation. Eh? Eh? If you cannot be arsed, well, it's not that important. I plan to introduce some continuity, but it should be quite obvious to anybody with two eyes and a functional brain. Will we get a saying on anything that goes on in the LP? Routes, units, anything? No. Hahahah, okay okay, I mean, I'll try to play all routes in different save files. I'll probably do what I want for the most part, but feel free to suggest units or things to do. Just... not Rutger please... we've been over that. I think. So, that's it? Good. Then, without any further ado... It is time to wait a few days until I get around to writing down the update! Until then, I fare you all well.
  9. Part 1: The First of Many Bandits Note: This playthrough assumes its readers are entirely familiar with the game of Fire Emblem: Blazing Sword. You have been warned. Hello, everyone, and welcome to my first ever Screenshot Run of a Fire Emblem game! For my first foray into this genre of web content, I’ve chosen Fire Emblem: Blazing Sword (Or just Fire Emblem, if you’re stubbornly American) as my game of choice. This game holds a lot of nostalgia for me for various reasons. However, this won’t be just any playthrough...this will be a LORDS-ONLY playthrough. That means that my list of combat-worthy characters has been reduced to just three: Lyn, Eliwood, and Hector. Other than that, however, I am being fairly lenient with myself in terms of rules. Any character outside of those three can still be brought onto the fields, and they can still perform any non-combat actions they can normally. So healers can still heal, dancers can still dance, and thieves can still steal and unlock things. In addition, any character besides the lords can still engage in combat, as long as they don’t actually attack. You know what that means...MEATSHIELDS! (That being said, I’m still going to make sure none of them actually die if at all possible) Finally, any character besides the lords may participate in the arena. However, I may only level a character 10 times for each arena. An important thing to note. Due to some unfortunate circumstances, I am unable to use my old version of the game. So sadly, that means no Lyn Hard Mode and no Hector mode. Eliwood all the way this time. In addition, due to the way Lyn Normal Mode forces its tutorials on the player, I will be forced to use other characters in certain situations. Sadly, there’s no getting around this. Since we’re playing Normal Mode, this sequence of events will be the same every time. Tactician found unconscious, Batta the Beast, omae wa mo shindeiru, nani, so on and so forth. I think even the level you get might be the same every time. Just one thing I felt worthy of note. Don’t worry, Lyn. You’ll be getting stronger. MUCH stronger... Alright, finally time for some actually interesting gameplay. I gotta say, I love Lyn’s line here. You can just feel the derision seeping from her every word. Funny story, I actually had to look it up, and canton is another word for a territory. You learn something new every day. Alright. My commands: “Listen to Lyn.” ...Except they won’t, because it’s Lyn Normal Mode, meaning that your choices are, half of the time, irrelevant. Several turns later, we can FINALLY do something for ourselves. With the tutorial out of the way, we can get on with the run. Zugu, the boss of this chapter, may seem harmless enough, but don’t let your guard down. If you’re not careful, he can kill Lyn pretty easily. In fact, this happened on my first run through the game. I was so innocent then... In order to make sure Sain and Kent don’t perform any attacks, I have to do a little bit of trading. I could just discard their lances and give the rest to Lyn, but I’d like to be able to sell them later. And while I’d rather not let them take any attacks, the fact that Sain has to be put in that position due to TUTORIAL means I can’t afford that luxury. So, Lyn abandons Sain to his fate of being hit with an axe to go kill the other Brigand. I have to kill this one, because while I’m sure the AI would go for the one that couldn’t attack back, I’d rather not take that risk. All according to keikaku. Now... Kent runs away to get out of the bandits line of fire, and Lyn trades with Sain to get his iron swords. We’re going to be going through a lot of them. As you can see, Lyn can’t kill the bandit in one round, so Sain runs away too. With no other choice left but to throw himself on to Lyn’s sword, the bandit dissolves into a level up. Considering that we only have Lyn and two other characters to use in this game, we have no choice but to take what we can get. With that out of the way, Lyn heads east to do some more bandit-slaying. A few turns later, we’re finally at Zugu, and this right here is why you shouldn’t just rush him with Lyn alone. Despite his low hit chance, if I were to attack him here, there’s a chance he could kill her on his turn and end my run right there. So we let him attack first instead. I know right? So annoying, insisting they’ve got to do the fighting. And lo and behold, he hits her. While it’s far from a guarantee he would do it in his other battle as well, it’s proof that Fire Emblem doesn’t pull its punches, even in Tutorial Central. Of course, that doesn’t mean he isn’t easy as punch when you think instead of charging right in. And another level up. Not really. We’re still gonna be slaughtering everyone in our path with you. The only difference is that instead of being 100% bandits, it’s gonna be 70% bandits. For comparison, Lyn from the beginning of the Prologue... ...And Lyn at the end of Chapter 1 (What does ‘Stouthearted’ even mean?) Growths: HP: 70% Strength: 40% Skill: 60% Speed: 60% Luck: 55% Defense: 20% Resistance: 30% Total: 335% Average: 48% We’ll be seeing a lot of Lyn, especially over the course of the next ten chapters. I’m far from an expert on growths, but even I can tell this is a classic Myrmidon setup. Of course, when we’re done, she’ll be able to take hits with the best of them. Growths: HP: 80% Strength: 60% Skill: 35% Speed: 40% Luck: 35% Defense: 20% Resistance: 20% Growths: HP: 85% Strength: 40% Skill: 50% Speed: 45% Luck: 20% Defense: 25% Resistance: 25% Sain and Kent are your typical Cavalier duo. However, since Kent is the one with the higher HP, he’s the one we’ll be using more often in Lyn Mode. However, there’s another Cavalier coming later on that will be far better built for the long term, so if there’s one we’ll be using out of the three of them in the endgame, it’ll be that one.
  10. Isn't vegetable man bootiful? Warning: this LP will contain spoilers, naturally, though I won't spoil significant plot elements until I reach them, even under spoiler tags. I'll go into it assuming some haven't played, and I'll gloss over some story elements so that those following can understand the context behind the stuff I'm doing in the game and so that those curious could hear my thoughts on the game. If you haven't played this game, I highly recommend that you do, especially if you're a fan of strategy (particularly games like XCOM), WW2 revisionism, or good anime. (It's only $20 on Steam) Also, this game contains scenes of violence committed against unarmed civilians (though no blood), political/racial undertones, and otherwise fairly harrowing depictions of warfare and persecution for a game rated T/Pegi 16. This is balanced out by occasional slice-of-life or otherwise lighthearted moments, but it, by and large, is a game about war. Don't let the silly image above fool you. Dude's actually incapacitated and in need of a medic. Final warning: my posts are all kind of rambling and long-winded. I apologize; I'm trying my best to improve. So yes, for my first LP ever on this site, I decided to do a favorite of mine: Valkyria Chronicles. Except it is now modded, and I won't be using the leaders (Alicia, Largo, and Rosie) at all. The mod is called Gallian Crossfire. It makes a ton of changes to the original gameplay elements, due to the original game honestly being kind of a breeze by strategy game standards. Essentially, it makes the game a shit ton more difficult, sometimes maybe even a little unfair. I'll list all the specific changes under here, but those who haven't played the game might not understand any of this. Be warned, it's a fairly big list. With all these changes, it now really does feel like you're just this ragtag militia from a technologically poor country fighting a military superpower. If you want this mod for yourself, just look for it under VC's "Community Guides" segment of Steam. Or just look it up on Google; if you've found a page on Steam titled "Gallian Crossfire rebalance mod", then you've found the right one. The mod was created by a user named busards. With the release of VC4, and my desire to play it, I'm reticent to be playing two Valkyria Chronicles games simultaneously. And moreover, I plan to actually LP VC4. So in the end, to save me from a possibly staggering workload and to keep me from getting burned out on this game, I will keep this LP on hold until I've thoroughly finished VC4 (beaten all the main chapters and DLC). I will not end this LP yet, though. I promise that unless something happens to me (life's unexpected, what can I say?), I will ultimately finish this LP all the way through. I'd say at the latest, I'll be starting back up in early January.
  11. To be honest I'm still not sure if making this is a good idea or not, but I'm going to give this a try anyway and see what happened : P I'm sooooo going to flop ;-; So anyway, hello to anyone who's reading this, as the title says, I will be trying to Ironman FE10, but I'm going to make this harder on me by playing this on hard mode, now I've NEVER did hard mode on FE10, I only did easy and normal, so I have no idea what to expect And of course becasue this is an Ironman run, I won't reset if anyone died, which I feel like is going to happened a lot, I feel like it's a thing that can't be avoided....so yeah : ) Pray for your favorite characters. My next post here will be the first chapter, now becasue it's the first chapter I would think it won't be TOO hard, or at least I hope
  12. So, after struggling through a True Classic Awakening run, breezing through an Awakening Only Shepherds run, and struggling through a Hard/Classic Conquest run, I figured that I might as well mix things up a bit. Time for a Let's Play! Questions You May Have What kind of LP is this? Screenshot, of course. Video LPs are for the weak! (and people who don't sound like third grade girls) How will you take the screenshots? With my Ipad, which I will post these updates on. The images won't be super great, but, hey! It worked for Rezzy! Are you playing on Hard or Lunatic? ...Lunatic? HAHAHA! The first time I played Conquest, I had to go Normal/Phoenix just to complete the game. I've improved significantly, but not that much. I'm going Hard. Now, viewers, if you so wish, you may select one of these lovely royals to be our main character. Jamie. Naive and girlish. Loves helping people, doing chores, and the color pink. Boon: Clever Bane: Clumsy Talent: Troubadour Michele. Narcoleptic and somewhat cynical. While she has nihilistic beliefs, she figures she might as well make the most of her once chance. Boon: Calm Bane: Unlucky Talent: Wyvern Rider Jordan. Kind of dumb. Thinks of himself as cooler than he really is. Wears an eyepatch even though he doesn't need one. Boon: Robust Bane: Dull Talent: Mercenary Roland. Puts on a gruff exterior, but has a sensitive side as well. Surprisingly agile for his build. Boon: Quick Bane: Unlucky Talent: Spear Fighter
  13. Well my senior year is almost over, and I'll have a good amount of free time, so why not document an LP? the rules: 1. I may only catch the first Pokémon in an area, and if I fail the encounter, I do not get a Pokémon from that area 2. If a Pokémon faints it is considered dead, and must be put in the box permenantly 3. All Pokémon must be nicknamed 4. Shiny and dupes clauses are active (if I find a shiny regardless of if it's my first encounter or not I can catch and use it, and if I find a Pokémon I already have or have had I can choose to continue encountering Pokémon untill I get something new, to add to the variety) 5. All gift Pokémon will be accepted. Wether they will be used or not depends on the team ATM 6. I will allow myself ONE legendary beast, which will be determined by the viewers 7. Ho Oh and Lugia are off limits due to how powerful they are, this is supposed to be a challenge after all! 8. The Nuzlocke officially begins when we get Pokeballs we have won the nuzlocke when we have beaten Red upon Mt. Silver. all images taken will have links posted to view them, this way I don't have to delete images to comply with the posting limit comments and questions are welcomed and appreciated!
  14. Welcome to Pokemon Rejuvenation. Like my previous (and still ongoing) series, this is a Pokemon fan game made with RPG Maker XP using Pokemon Essentials. It's heavily inspired by Pokemon Reborn, a game I'm also playing. That means this game: Has 18 gyms, one for each type. Not much to say about that. Has level caps. By default, your Pokemon can't level beyond 20, and this increases by 5 with each badge you get save for two badges in unreleased content. This isn't just disobedience like some other fangames, but it becomes impossible to gain experience at all. Is a lot more challenging than the regular games Puzzles. Lots of puzzles. Most importantly: an extremely silly plot. Among other things. You can find the latest version here, unless you're reading this months or more into the future in which case it likely isn't, but it should be in a sticky thread on that subforum. Despite all my bitching about these games I do find them more fun than the canon Pokemon games but I'm willing to overlook a lot of a game's flaws if the gameplay is fun/challenging enough. Anyway, let's get this show on the road. Prologue: More Cutscenes than Gen7 Table of Contents
  15. Imgur did its damndest to make pushing this out to you a tedious chore, but I've got another LP for all to see... Fire Emblem: Sword of Heaven and Earth is a Japanese romhack of Blazing Sword/Rekka no Ken. Now, Japanese hacks have developed a bit of a mixed reputation thanks to abominable things like FE7if, as well as technically-neat-but-frankly-bullshit hacks like FE8 Girls and Super Thracia. Sword of Heaven and Earth manages to be a fairly sane hack amidst a crowd of rather ludicrous ones, focusing less on technical innovation or fancy gimmicks and more on generally sound game design. It's not a cakewalk, but (from what I've played anyway) it's not punishingly difficult either. Overall, if you want a hack that emulates the typical GBA style of gameplay more closely than, say, Elibean Nights or Midnight Sun, this isn't a bad way to go. Since the whole thing is in Japanese, I won't be touching upon the plot too much, aside from the appearance of new characters or stuff that affects the gameplay in some way. It's taking place in Elibe, at some time around the events of FE6, though I have no idea if it's before, during or after. We'll see some familiar faces, but most of the cast is new characters, albeit ones who greatly resemble characters from FE6 and FE7. I don't know anyone's growths, sadly, but for most of the earlier characters I can kind of give you an idea of their potential. I've played up to Chapter 13, so this isn't exactly a blind run, but we will hit a point where I don't really know what's coming next. Given my history I won't promise anything, but I'll try to keep this to a one-chapter-a-week schedule if I can manage that. I suppose I may as well get started. The first chapter's a bit sparse, but it gets better from here, honest! Prologue: Bait and crutch
  16. Alright, hi I'm MrGreen3339 and I'll be bringing you a screenshot LP that will also recognize a Japanese FE hack You're probably wondering "what in the world is Fire Emblem: Queen's Sword?" I won't blame you, you have to know where to look to learn about it. It's a WIP FE8 hack. Download the hack here: https://ux.getuploader.com/FE4/download/794 Here's some notes about this hack. It is set in Elibe, although it isn't linked to FE6 or 7 It uses a Str/Mag split and a skill system It features an FE5 style capture mechanic Custom music from various games is used, from old FEs to Advance Wars and even a Paper Mario 64 song. Without further ado, let's get started! As a fair note, all English terms I get are Google Translated. It will likely be the main humor source.
  17. Welcome to my first ever Pokémon Nuzlocke. I will be doing a playthrough of Pokémon Uranium, a “banned” Pokémon game. I have already decided my starter, so no poll, unfortunately. Anyways, expect the first post to start today.
  18. This is both my first play through and my first iron man run, so don’t expect it to be good or anything. Hopefully the memes will be good enough Rules: 1) If a unit dies, then they stay dead. I only reset if my Corrin dies 2) The game will be played on Classic/Lunatic 3) Grinding with DLC or scouting is banned. Any other method of grinding is allowed 4) I can only buy one skill per unit 5) Children can be used and obtained. The marriages for gen 1 will be decided once I get to a certain point (after completing chapter 20 in my case 6) The game will start at the route split 7) A special self imposed rule; Ryoma is banned from use until the end of chapter 20 (when I will be getting the kids) 8) The marriage options for my Corrin and others will be decided by you!
  19. So I need something to occupy my time with, and I have this desire to try my hand at doing some sort of Let's Play. So here it is! IfIHadToPickADude's Journey In Attempting to Complete Etrian Odyssey V: Beyond the Myth on a 3DS That is Held Together By Duct Tape With Pictures Taken On An Android Phone! Wait. That seems to be a bit too long. How about... An Etrian Odyssey Newcomer Plays Etrian Odyssey V: Beyond the Myth! Ah, much better. I haven't beaten this game yet, but I plan to! Or die fail trying. This is for the people who have no idea what Etrian Odyssey is or those who are experienced in it and have come to chastise me at every mistake I make. Before I start, I have to say I have played up to part way through the fifth floor of the first stratum so I (kinda) know what I'm doing up until then. Also here's some rules I'm putting into place so this stays (somewhat) organized: No changing a characters' class after I registered them. I'm not skilled enough to take advantage of this. And because I don't want to use it. Each member will be a Musical Reference of some sort. I have to also tell a story about these fools going through Yggdrasil. It'll be boring to just comment on my guild's journey with just portraits! Following rule 2 and rule 3, each character has to have a backstory and personality based on said musical reference. If I feel I need to add more rules, I shall. So yeah, that's the rules. It's getting late where I live so I'm gonna go visit Far From the Forest to rest my mind a bit, sleep, and come back to update this after I get home tomorrow because I spent hours trying to get this right.
  20. so i was talking to my son cat, as i do, and being a dick on the sf discord, as i do, and i had a thought the Pelleas Guy, subsisting entirely off of free summons and saving every orb for pelleas, is a legend... but what if that was a challenge run? on the other hand, what if i pull a unit i really want on my main account? double my salt? no thanks, miss me with that shit. well, the conversation that sparked this was how feh's lack of rng is actually the best random number system in fire emblem, so what about heroes... but with no rng whatsoever? THEM RULES nothing without a predetermined outcome is allowed. the free brave unit is legitimate because it's a guaranteed neutral/neutral of the exact unit chosen, but any summons (free or otherwise) are strictly forbidden. this means i'm living off of askrs, ghbs, tts if i can grind them, Three Heroes quests, fjorm, and of course Noble Sophia, Virion, Hana, Subaki, Donnel, Lissa, Gunter, Cecilia, Felicia, Wrys, Olivia, Stahl. and matthew and raigh, i guess. the goal? achieve a checkmark sweep on the Story Maps tab. this means all difficulties of all story maps, paralogues, and chain challenges; as well as all squad assaults. i will be cataloguing my travels in this thread as i feel like it. someday, in the grim far future that knows only war, i will dunk every orb this account makes on making a +10 just to leave on my friends list for posterity, or something. let's get it
  21. Hey Guys! I just finished my image based playthrough of FE6 on Hard Mode. I thought I'd challenge myself by only using low-tier characters and documenting the results! I posted this on the /r/fireemblem subreddit (under /u/Spoon_rhythm) too, so head there if you want to see people's comments. Here's the first part: http://imgur.com/gallery/fCeZP All chapters are accessible from each imgur album, so I won't bother posting them all here separately. As a heads up I will say that the playthrough starts off fairly simplistic (it was my first time doing one of these), but really gets going from around Chapter 7. You will get more out of the final chapters if you read all of the early stuff however. Enjoy!
  22. 23:04 P.M., somewhere in the world. A random nerd's room. Man, it's so much fun playing Fire Emblem! I just love it, all of my units have been blessed by the RNG goddess. Look at that avatar. She even started as an archer! No wonder they gave her a 10/10 in that old Rate the Unit thread... My army is invincible. Even Maris can't get killed. Huh. Maris. What's her new official name? Malice? Malicia? Marlacilis? Who knows, I sure don't. Oh man Palla died. I was foolish to place her there. Well, it's just my fourth playthrough. That's better. Ogma isn't sitting on a flying creature, therefore he survives getting shot in the neck with an arrow. ...this is so boring. Where did I go wrong? I was playing maniac like a boss! My stats weren't so good, Wrys hadn't capped anything yet. And Tiki died so easily, having to reload the turn was so annoying... but even with these huge handicaps, I still can't shake this feeling that this is too easy. How strange... what shall I do? ... LET'S PLAY AS KAGA INTENDED US TO! This is more or less how I got the idea to do this. That, and having recently watched Markyjoe's video on Fire Emblem's balancing. So, out of tremendous boredom, I decided to do a LP in a foreign language, taking away the ability to reset which I'd never done before, and publish it for all the pros to gaze upon over the shoulder in disdain. I might not even be able to finish this (I'll try as hard as I can, though), as I begin college in around a month, but hey, I just wanted to try this let's playing schtick out. Please bear with me. Not that I expect this to become anything big, but eh, if I can manage to get a stable replier or two, I'll be happy. The rules are as follows. - Obviously, I won't be resetting. If I lose a unit, I'll have to press on and use a replacement. Hopefuly, I won't have to settle for using Matthis or Frost or anything like that. I'll also try to recruit everyone and get every gaiden. That would be sweet. Units defeated in the prologue won't be considered dead for good, and I'll be free to use them in the main game. I think having to LTC Matthis should be enough of a punishment for leaving Wrys and Caeda in range of Jeorge and his archer buddy. - The only exceptions to this rule will be Marth and MU (whom I have already created, by the way, so I'm afraid I won't do like the good Let's Players and let the viewers participate), as well as the unit who will take the Growth Drop. This is mostly because I don't trust my skills and, well, I'd like to have more than one "permanent" unit to help the seizebot sit on the throne. Now, don't worry, I won't give it to Palla or anything like that. It'll be an early game terribad unit. Place your bets. Once more, because I am a bad LPer, I already have someone in mind. If any of these die, I will reset the chapter. If I lost any of the other units before resetting, I'll disarm them and kill them off as soon as possible. I won't be allowed to change anything in the prepscreen, either. If I have to reset five times because I forgot to give Marth the starsphere the first time, so be it. As of the Bond Drop, the Rainbow Potion, and the lunatic statboosters, I won't be using them. - I will use the reclassing feature. I'll try to have one of each class, though. - I'll be playing on H1, again, because I don't trust my skills. - And, just for the record, with this intro, I don't intend to insult people who use save states and the like. I use them a lot, it would be quite hypocritical of me to do such a thing. I just... figured it was an alright introduction to this thing. - Lastly, I'd really appreciate if you guys behaved like grammar nazis and corrected my mistakes. Partly 'cause I'd dislike to have an ugly mess of a first (and probably last) LP, but improving my english will be of use in college. We could use this chance to turn Serenesforest into a Den of Education and Knowledge. So, without further ado, let us... wait until tomorrow when I feel like typing down another part! And that's when the LP died.
  23. Hello all of you! Today I will be starting my first let's play here in the forest! I will play Pokémon Xd: Gale of Darkness, for the first time, completely blind! I have played seen a playthrough of Colloseum, but I want to experience this one myself first. Let's have some rules first though. - You can NOT spoil me on the story. Should be obvious though. - You CAN give me some tips, about what certain pokémon learn, which pokémon I should use, etc. I don't consider those harmful in a blind playthrough. That's pretty much it, I think. Now, let's begin! Episode 1: A new blind adventure!
  24. I've been bored out of my mind lately and I've decided to start a let's play of FE7 instead. Notes I'd like to throw in: I did not save a backlog of the changes, but you will see some varying weapon types and changes throughout the run. Palettes will be altered so that they don't look like garbage. That's pretty much all. Onto the run itself!
  25. Emulated on Android so I can use save states. Discussions will be in the feedback thread. Every other dungeon will include a poll that will run until I finish it, to allow the readers to decide which stat growth our heroine will get. If there's a tie I will decide between the ones that tied. If the winner is impossible at the time (like if strength wins and there are no strength boosters in the loot) it will default to my choice. The options are self explanatory, but for those of you who haven't played: Pockets: adds another slot to the command list. Another option during the heat of battle that doesn't require opening the menu, basically. Ring: allows the use of magic without having to find the proper magitite stone, a fire ring will give constant access to fire for example. If this wins and there's more than one ring I'll pick which one I get. Sometimes there will be polls for other things and they will run as long as I feel they're needed. For all polls I will also add a vote. I am playing as a female selkie with the blacksmith family trade. Feedback Thread Art and Banner Gallery Seek the water of life. Long ago, miasma swallowed the world. Its very touch was fatal, and it claimed many lives. But we have since discovered a way to hold it at bay. Crystals protect us from miasma. Smaller crystals now guard the villages of the world, while larger ones guard the cities. We all live our lives within the embrace of the crystals' blessing. The power of the crystals is not limitless, however; it gradually diminishes over time. We must rekindle the crystals' radiance each year by purifying them with myrrh. In turn, they protect us from the miasma for another year. But myrrh cannot be found just anywhere. We must seek it in the dark depths of dungeons, across forbidding mountains, even beyond the sea. This task falls to young men and women sent off each year by every town the world over. It is their duty to collect myrrh and bring it home. They are known as the crystal caravanners. This is the tale of one such caravanner and her adventures. FIFTEEN YEARS AGO "Please, sir!" A male selkie dropped to his knees and begged to the Torring village elder. "This is the only town we could reach! At least allow my wife a place to give birth safely..." In the wagon behind him, a heavily pregnant female squirmed and let out faint grunts of discomfort. The "elder" actually wasn't much older than the selkie couple, but his father had recently died and thrust him into the position. He had grown up hearing tales of robberies, assassinations, and general trickery...all performed by the selkie race. Whereas his own people, the clavats, were typically shown as peaceful farmers or on occasion, successful caravanners. "I will let you stay, but only until the child is confirmed healthy and fit to travel." The elder turned to one of the clavats who had gathered to see what was happening. "Lead her to the infirmary and make sure a midwife is available." "Oh, thank you! Thank you so much!" The selkie man jumped up and attempted to give the elder a hug, but he pulled away. His copper colored eyes twinkled, almost with the same luster as the crystal chalice he carried. "I will repay you for this to the best of my ability!" PRESENT DAY Dou Gas, the selkie father, turned out to be a skilled blacksmith, which was something Torring lacked. So, a town meeting had been held, and the majority voted to allow the selkies to stay, given that they had nowhere else and the goblins of Goblin Wall had killed all their traveling companions. Their little girl Dee Kat had since grown into a fine young lady. Despite growing up around a bunch of clavats, she was still a typical selkie...fast and agile, and at times a bit of a trickster. The village elder, Roland, was pleased to see that the selkies were behaving themselves, NOT stealing things. He now knew that those stories weren't completely accurate, and quite racist. In fact, Roland was almost as happy and proud as Dou Gas when Lo Ree gave birth to their second "pup": a boy who they named Don Van. It was a little known fact that selkies associated themselves with seals sometimes, calling their young "pups", and everybody knew they were avid consumers of fish...just like seals. The selkie family would fish the local river almost constantly, but somehow, they managed to never overfish it. Today, Dee Kat was sitting on a hill overlooking the town square, looking completely exhausted. A little orange puffy creature floated over to her on his leathery wings. "Rough morning, kupo?" "Chee!" The young selkie smiled and extended her hand to scratch her moogle friend's furry ears. His full name was Cheese, his parents had named him that because his fur was the color of that soft, delicious food that people made from cow and sometimes goat milk. But Dee Kat preferred to call him Chee, because it was more dignified. "Kupo" was a term of endearment that moogles called their best person friends. "Dad expects me to help in the forge just about every day. I hardly have time to train for the caravan!" Dee Kat complained. "You're not nervous at all about that?" Chee flattened his ears. "Caravanning is supposed to be REALLY dangerous." "That's why I have to train! So I don't come home in a body bag...Dad doesn't seem to understand that..." TO BE CONTINUED...
