  1. Fire Emblem - Origins v1.0 A Blazing Sword ROM hack by Strict_Gryphon90 Foreword: Exactly 3 months ago (July 19th 2015) I started working on this hack knowing absolutely nothing about ROM hacking. And now, with great joy, I present to you the fruit of those 3 months of work. I hope you enjoy playing this hack as much as I enjoyed making it. As of this release the prologue through chapter 3 has been fully completed. The maps for chapters 4 and 5 are complete and in the game but do not contain any dialogue. I wanted to have chapters 4 and 5 finished for this release but I wasn't able to do so before my deadline. This upcoming school week (week of Monday 10/19/2015) is midterm week, and I also have a long paper due shortly after, so after today I won't be working on this hack for about 2 weeks. I decided to release whatever I had done before then. After my busy time is over, I will resume work on this hack with all the same dedication as the past 3 months. Quick Note About the Mugs and Animations: As of yet I do not have any custom mugs or animations, and so I am using default resources as placeholders. I do have someone working on the mugs, but they've been feeling ill the past couple of weeks and haven't had the chance to get them done. Rest assured I will insert the custom mugs as I receive them, and also the custom animations as soon as I find someone who can do them. Story: Main Characters: Screenshots (Thanks to Pixelman): Chapter Maps: Changes: Plans for v1.1: Plans for v2.0: Things You Should Know About Chapters 4 and 5 (because of lack of dialogue): Credits: If I forgot anything I'll add it as soon as I remember. If I forgot something or gave the wrong credit, let me know and I will fix it. Also, I use Apache OpenOffice instead of Excel, so you'll need that program to open it. Don't worry it's free. https://www.dropbox.com/s/frjr0s32vcde5ui/Character%20Stats.ods?dl=0 Original Post: Gryphon
  2. Yes, I have watched the new Nintendo direct recently. A bit late, I know. I noticed something in the announcement trailer of Fire Emblem 14. Take a look at this http://i.ytimg.com/vi/N7zDHOSSj1o/maxresdefault.jpg The man on the right wields a sword that bears a resemblance to Fire Emblem: Awakening's version of the Falchion. The resemblance is actually quite big. It looks very similar. Do you have any thoughts to share?
  3. Blades. Majestic and precise killing machines. Gaming is just one of the mediums that they are portrayed but it just so happens they are oh so common. Whether it is a certain magical sword or a demonic blade they captivate our imaginations and make us wish we had one. What are your favorite blades in gaming? Don't play games? Any movie or comic book swords you like? My personal favorites in this order: #1 True Master Sword (Skyward Sword): You literally go through so much crap to get it 3 silent realms (shudders), 3 tricky dungeons, 3 brutal bosses (hero mode) and the way its presented is just glorious with Link finally becoming the hero he was meant to be with that iconic master sword tune. The blade is also gorgeous and kills enemies in the game with great ease. #2 Ragnell (Path of Radiance, Radiant Dawn): Being able to use the same blade that killed your father to kill his murderer. Badass. Blade has a solid gold look to it and shoots shockwaves. Oh its also massive but Ike uses it with one arm. O_O #3 Falchion (Awakening): I particularly like this version because of the distinctive tear shaped hole in the middle its exalted look also makes it a true beauty.
  4. I'm on the 6th chapter, and I think I can safely say that this isn't a particularly easy FE game. I just want to make sure that everything I'm doing is acceptable. Thany died. Lugh died (but I'm hoping I will get a better mage/dark mage later). Dorothy died (but my Wolt is already better than her anyway). My Chad is pretty powerful (he is literally about to hit his speed cap already), so I stole Cath's lockpicks and killed her. I've recruited everybody else so far, and no one else died. Any suggestions for later in the game? I think my only real significant mistake here is overpowering Chad. I just wanted him to be a formidable opponent/lockpick thief combo. It may have been worth it, though, because he is about as strong and skilled as a good mercenary.
  5. Doing a fan-dub of a few of my favourite scenes from Fire Emblem 7, but I'd like to include more fan favourites. These are the scenes I have so far: Lyn's Story: Footsteps of fate - Sain and Kent's Introduction Band of mercenaries - Lyn's speech (Added by request of a friend of mine) Beyond the borders - Erk and Serra's introduction Blood of Pride - Matthew's introduction Siblings Abroad - Nils + Ninian's introduction + Matthew and Hector's scene + Eliwood's introduction A Grim Reunion - Wallace's introduction + Lundgren and Hausen's scene The distant Plains - End of Lyn's Story E+H's Story: E+H's departure Merlinus sidequest End of "False Friends" End of "The Noble Lady of Cealin" End of "Whereabouts Unknown" Lyn and Hector's scene in "Pirate Ship" "The Dread Isle" - Nergal's introduction, Leila's Death, Discovery of Leila's Body Beginning and end of "The Dragon's Gate" End of "A new resolve" "Kinship's Bond" - Black Fang Meeting and Meeting with Uther "Genesis" - Athos's Introduction "Four-fanged offense" Linus' attack, Linus' death, Nino and Jaffar in the house "Battle before dawn" - Zephiel's prayer, Hector confronting Jaffar, Hellene's scene "Night of Farewells" - Nino confronts Sonia, Farewell to the Black Fang "Cog of Destiny" - Lloyd and Nino talk, Bramimond's introduction, Ninian's abduction "Valourous Roland/The Berserker" - Ninian's Death "Sands of Time" - Athos's story + Revelation of Uther's Death Hector's talk with oswin and Lyn in "Battle Preparations" End of "Victory or Death" "Light" Full chapter Epilogue, E+H's perspective Final (Because Spoilers): Ch 19xx - Nergal's painting Supports: Eliwood x Ninian Hector x Lyn Renaud (Renault) x Lucius Jaffer x Nino Kent x Sain Serra x Matthew Matthew x Jaffer Sain x Serra (Request from cast members) One or two of Legault's supports (haven't decided yet) Feel free to let me know if that cover the basics, or if they are glaring omissions you'd like to see fan-dubbed. Bear in mind it's the PAL version of the game without the grown-up Hector and Eliwood scene with Roy and Lilina at the end, and that this is not a full walkthrough style fan-dub, just a highlight reel. I'd like to do the beginning of "Unfulfilled Heart" as well, but I don't have a voice actor to play Desmond.
  6. As most people know, Fire Emblem: Fuuin no Tsurugi as many issues with it. You can ask anyone who has played. Most will tell you that the hit rates are atrocious, finding good units to use or at least units that are RNG blessed is a huge hassle, Roy SUCKS and first time players usually say: "What the hell? Why can't I promote my thief?" So, over a year ago, I set out to fix these issues as best I can. I started out with ZERO hacking knowledge and relied on the community tools and guides provided by serenesforest. Suffice to say, I did less than adequate... But with FEE3 just around the corner I decided to start from scratch and give it another shot. And this time around, I think I've had much more success. So without further ado, here are definitions of these issues I aim to fix: 1. Bad units : Too many units go unused and, forgive me if this sounds corny, unloved. Most people call these units "Bad Units" because their growth rates are sub-par and people deem them "not worth their time." 2. Awful Hit Rates : In most FE games, bad hit rates are linked to a unit's skill stats. However, this isn't always the case in FE6. Most people know this, so I'll keep this point brief. Even units with superb skill stat can miss in this game because the hit rates on most weapons SUCK. 3. Class limitations (thief, bard, etc...) : A lot of possible good units are hindered in this game because they fit into a certain class. For example: thieves got the short end of the stick with 1st class stat caps and limited levels of growth. 4. Practical Use : Many units go unused in the game because the time they are recruited makes their use impractical. A good example of this is Sofiya; whom comes so late in the game and at such a low level that using her is more of a liability than an asset. Another example is prepromoted units early in the game that drain exp from other units with little return, again, making them more a liability than an asset. **NOTE - This does not apply to units such as Niime, Yodel or Karel who have just had their levels lowered to 15 to take advantage of their new growths (Karel needs no advantage, but is sure was fun to do! lol) How I attempted to fix these issues: (Points below match points above) 1. Using units current growths as a percentage with their base stat total, I assign all units the same base stat total of 325 (so far, 325 seems to be the best middle ground; 350 just barely being too high and anything lower than 325 not making a significant impact on some units) in an attempt to make all units relatively the same as far as use, but keep their unique traits that makes them good (such as Barth and his HP). 2. To fix the awful hit rates, I simply modified all weapons in the game to have the hit rates of their counterparts in FE7. I also took the creative liberty to edit some weapons in ways I thought appropriate: such as uses and range (GET AT ME SHORT BOW HATERS!!!). 3. This was took a lot of work to fix for certain units. The thieves and bards/dancers were easy enough; calculate their 20/20 stats average stats (limitations from the first class included for realism) and then make their current growth rates match rates that would result in their 20/20 stats while still in their base class (I also increased the stat caps to FE8's Assassins). What was difficult was the prepremoted units. It's somewhat complicated so for people interested, here's how I did it: 4. I used the above method on prepremoted to make it so the player would receive an adequate return, at least, for trying to level them up so much. Overly leveled units whom don't have their stats reflect their current level have had their levels reduced in order for growth rates to compensate. And finally, Sofiya has been leveled up so now she can be useful without "kill-feeding" her. That's all I have for now. If you have any suggestions, I would love to hear them and constructive criticism is always welcome. Something to keep in mind: While this hack does follow what I listed above, there are also small details throughout the hack that I thought would add to the gameplay experience; so, please keep this in mind if you suddenly receive an item you wouldn't normally be able to get. ; ] Screenshots: Changes suggested by users: HAVE FUN!
