  1. Oreki san, watashi kininarimasu! I want to know which anime your favorite are since there is no topic like this, at least i found no topic like this. I have watched many Anime and have read many Manga and Doujinshi but i want to know what other like. another reason for this topic is for people who don't know anime very well and get a good impression on it, (like some of my Tomodachis at school, who were first like "isn't it this crazy japan shit with tentacle rape and Oppai?" and i introduced them to a good manga(beelzebub) and now they are otakus) you are allowed to say something like "boku no pico", "Mahou Shouio Ai" or "Kuroinu: Kedakaki Seijou wa Hakudaku ni Somaru" or Doujinshi like "Cult of the Lust God" but i would not recommend it since some people my be new in the world of anime and the majority will look at you in a negative way or pissed off -.-'' and your prestige will drastically sink. I'd appriciate if you make a top 3 or 5 or whatever and write the tags that are most fitting My list: Romance/Psychological>Horror/Splatter 1.School days (Romance, Slice of life) (best Anime in EXISTENCE imo) 2.Sakurasou no pet na kanajou (Romance, Slice of life)+Toradora(Romance, Slice of life) 3.Monogatari Series(Psychological, Romance)+Corpse Party(Horror, Splatter) 4.Shiki(Horror, Splatter)+Mirai Nikki(Splatter, Romance) 5.Akame ga kill(Splatter, Superpower)+Steins;Gate(Time-Travel, Romance)
  2. With a lot of place on lockdown, I think now would be a good time to get some anime in. However as a fan of older(ish) anime I have no idea what to watch. I mostly like to watch romance and comedies but I do enjoy action that has a good story. Like I loved Love Hina, it’s what really hooked me into anime after Roroni Kenshin got me interested. Some of my favorites are Pani Poni Dash, Speed Grapher, Ergo Proxy, Shuffle, Clannad and .Hack. I started That time I was reincarnated in another world as a slime and Horizon in the middle of nowhere, but haven’t finished them. What would everyone suggest?
  3. With the success of the Mario movie, What are chances of getting an actual Fire Emblem movie/tv series/etc?
  4. https://store.steampowered.com/app/898750/Super_Robot_Wars_30/ I still can't believe this is happening. As a longtime fan of the series, this is... I can't even, it's practically a miracle. Seems to be the Steam version only. Then again, the PS4 and Switch versions can already be bought internationally via region-appropiate accounts, so I guess it makes sense. Although, I have my suspicions there could be some tweaks to at least the script. I already spot one thing that's changed from the English PV1 to the screenshots displayed on Steam. It could just be just a correction or for better display, but it makes me wonder. Regardless... A non OG SRW game is getting an official worldwide release!!! Come on, let's us fans celebrate this! And for nonfans, take this chance to learn about this SRPG game series.
  5. Fe Echoes SOV has weirdly caught my eye’s attention these past few days, since I have been craving something of an Fe based game that has different gameplay style and combat mechanics as opposed to Fates and Awakening which I have already beaten more than twice, and since I find the item finding or the quests to be a bit tedious to complete in 3H, I wanted to check out whether how good or how amazing is Echoes SOV really is in terms of combat mechanics, battle system. I have already heard that the story, music and graphics are god-like, thankfully without spoilers, which is harder to come by lol. Is it a good idea to pick up Echoes SOV alongside with the DLC packs that it offers and possibly extra amiibo features that it has included for better grinding and gold farming or is it better to just get the game by itself and then buy the DLC after I beat Echoes and the story mode of it? Some help would be super appreciated for a Fe semi-noob like me. Also by any chance does this game have any online battle modes or street pass functions or has that also been disabled as well?
  6. So, it is generally agreed-on that western-made live-action film adaptations of anime tend to stink, with the two most notable exceptions being Alita: Battle Angel and Speed Racer, the former having been fairly well-received by viewers but still underperformed at the box office due to a combination of bad timing and bad marketing, and latter having been critically-panned on release but has gained a reputation as one of the most underrated movies of the 2000s. So, suppose you were to make a live-action film adaptation of a notable anime: Which anime would you pick, and why? How would you adapt the story? Go for a broad-strokes approach like the Speed Racer film, more directly adapt the early arcs like Alita: Battle Angel, or some other method? What would you alter/cut/adjust/add in order to fit the film format? How would you handle casting, costuming, setting, effects, etc.; essentially, how "anime" the film looks?
  7. What about anime makes is so appealing to current generations? What makes it so popular when compared to other mediums of animation? How do you think it can evolve as a art form in the future?
  8. I’ve been thinking about this recently, especially after watching this Gigguk video: One of the shortcomings of anime in my opinion is that because of the proliferation of the concept of moe, many modern anime feel incredibly similar to one another. This seems to be the case even in shows that are completely different genres and tonally different from one another. Despite its popularity, many of the modern shows also come off as relatively bland based upon my own eclectic tastes. Finally, I find that the ‘classics’ or ‘best of’ anime simply don’t hold a candle to the ‘classics’ or ‘best of’ genre fiction found in literature. These are just some of the supposed shortcomings of anime in my opinion. Now tell me what your thoughts on the shortcomings of anime?
  9. So there’s like a Japanese poll about Persona maybe coming to the switch. Not only that but apparently Persona 5 Royal underperformed on PS4, so SEGA and Atlus both might take Persona to the switch My questions are 1: Do you all take stock in this idea that Persona of any kind will get a port? 2: Do you think Persona should come to switch since it’s the spin off series of Shin Megami Tensei and SMT is a mostly Nintendo Series? 3: What other ports for the switch would you love to see? (Personally a Rhythm Thief port would be perfect)
  10. Haven’t played this game but it seems fun Should I plan on getting it on the switch?
  11. Has anybody seen the two episode fire emblem anime/OVA? well my question is if they were to make a sequel of sorts, which game would be best suited to a television/film interpretation, I think a "radiant" movie would be cool, that game has real cinematic edge, and a pretty strong plot, while awakening would make a better television series as it feels more episodically written, Fire Emblem 7 is so dramatic it reminds me of a Wagnerian opera (Is that a word?) I've also heard people compare the dark and complex plot of Geneology to that of game of thrones, though that one might have to come in at least two separate parts with possibly a third for thracia 776, i dunno anyone have thoughts on this?
  12. For example, Veruca's dad sounds like Goku from Dragon Ball Z, and Violet Beauregarde sounds like Lucy Heartfillya from Fairy Tail.
  13. As the title says, who would die? I have a few ideas, which are the following: Kliff: Dies during the battle at the Southern Outpost, to introduce to the audience the idea that anyone can die Faye: Dies in the aftermath of the defeat of Desaix, having been wounded in the battle and dying after the fact to make the battle seem less victorious. Tobin: Dies during the final battle against Duma, as more fuel for Alm to attack Duma with more power and anger. What do you think? Any bad ideas on mine or any you would add/change?
  14. So back in the day, me and my siblings used to enjoy some of the pikachu shorts almost as much as the movies they came with, so I thought I'd make a discussion thread about them. I have the most experience with the first 5 shorts, since those are the ones that we incessantly re-watched. There are three shorts that I like more than the others Pikachu and Pichu is probbably the strongest Pokemon short, even though watching it today can be a little ironic because it more or less ends with Ash turning eleven. At the time or release though, there was nothing wrong with the ending, and on top of being sweet, it even hinted that the anime (like the games between gen 1 and gen 2) would make some accomadations for real time passing over the course of the series. I also really like the hide and seek short with the evil lawnmower and the first short where they go on vacation and get in a fight with some generation 2 pokemon like Snubbul and Marill. They felt sweet and I think they did a lot to establish the tone of the pikachu shorts as strictly following the pokemon acting on their own as opposed to the main series, which makes them enjoyable. I guess I'd like to start a thread to hear other people's thoughts on the shorts? I wonder if I missed any good ones by tapping out of the series after generation 4? Also I kind of wonder if the reduced importance of the Pokemon shorts has anything to do with (pichu in melee vs later smash bros games) ? I'm not really sure how important people consider the shorts compared to the movies, but given that the movies can sell a pokemon like Lucario's popularity, I would imagine that the shorts must have some amount of influence... This thread is for the movie shorts. It is not for specials (such as winter vacation episodes), The Pokemon Channel short, or for Pokemon Generations.
  15. I love anime a lot. And even more than that, I love music. So obviously I love anime openings. The combination of great music, beautiful visuals, and well done cinematography make watching a good opening a treat at the beginning of every episode, and I almost never skip an opening. Following that same logic, EDs are the perfect way to end an episode, leaving me thinking about what just happened in the episode and hungry for more if the show. So what are your favorite opening and ending themes? There are so many different types of openings, it's super hard to choose for me personally, but here are some of my favorites! Secret Base (Anohana) - Anohana is the only show to date that's made me cry, and this song evokes that perfect feeling. It was the song that played whenever a sad event was going on at the end of an episode, and just hits your heart in all the perfect places, topping it all off with bittersweet visuals that pull your heartstrings. It's nothing complex or inventive, but it does everything it wants to do perfectly. Lilium (Elfen Lied) - I've never had an anime opening scare me before I watched this opening. It's beautiful, spine chilling, and leaves you unnerved and ready to watch the slaughter of a show that's to come. There's no real way to describe the feeling the opening gives, so I'd suggest you watch it yourself to get the full experience. Hello, World (Kekkai Sensen) - This OP surprised me. I went into this show without very high expectations, expecting another action show without much difference to others. The first episode didn't exactly draw me in that much either. But as soon as that opening started on the second episode, I was immediately sucked into the beautiful mixture of bright lights and seeing through the main character's eyes. Without the opening to this show, chances are I wouldn't have stuck around long enough to actually love the show. Colors (Code Geass) - Nostalgia. This opening reeks of nostalgia for me, and I could recognize the song anywhere. It does a perfect job of getting you ready to watch Lelouch take on the world. Not only that, but it manages to fit most of the cast into it (even if most of them you only see a second or so), giving you time to wonder about who a specific character is and when you'll meet them. EVERY MONOGATARI OP/ED - Maybe I'm biased because of my love for the series, but every single OP and ED in the Monogatari Series is beautiful, inventive, or just plain fun. Even with the huge multitude of OPs in the series, I can't say that the quality of them are low or that they aren't enjoyable. They manage to both have quantity and quality. I could probably go on forever, but I'm going to stop there for now. Anyone else have any interesting things I didn't mention (or did mention)? I'm really excited to see!
  16. I didn't see any topic about this so I thought I'd make one. Anyone else excited to see two more seasons of this masterpiece? Im very torn. One one hand, the new character designs are sorta generic and I'm nervous that it'll lack the charm of the original show. But on the other hand, FLCL is back and the Pillows are back. Honeslty I just want a full version of that song in the trailer, Spiky Seeds. That song just made me feel nostalgic for some reason.
  17. With anime talent coming off Jojo, Gurren Lagann and more to aid this project its sure to be interesting at the very least.
  18. So I would appreciate if y'all could make some Corrins that resemble anime characters maybe?
  19. http://www.aniplex.co.jp/p5a/ Video trailer once you enter the site is apparently exclusive to Japan, so don't be surprised when it doesn't play. From the same studio who did the Persona 5: The Day Breakers, Persona 4: The Golden Animation, and the last 3 Persona 3 movies. Thoughts?
  20. So I recently got back into My Hero Academia, had a binge over the weekend and now I'm caught up on the show. I plan on reading the manga, but I want to know: who are you're favorite heroes/what are your favorite quirks? Note: Spoilers ahead Mine are: Hanta Sero (Tape) He's the reason I got back into Hero Academia again. After seeing that fight scene with Todoroki in the Sports Festival, I decided, "Damn, I gotta finish this show." Normally, people would think Todoroki would be the one amaze people, but something about Sero made him become one of my favorites. Despite his simplistic looks, I really like the way he looks. His outfits pretty cool to. I hope he gets a bigger role later on. Toru Hagakure (Transparency) An absolutely adorable character. Even if she's invisible, I really like her upbeatness. Also, I love her little bits with Ojiro. It makes me question though: If Eraser Head can eliminate quirks, wouldn't she be visible? There are certain scenes where Eraser Head calms down everyone by shutting down their quirks. I really want to know what she actually looks like. Izuku Midoriya (All for One) Yes, the protagonist. He's one of my favorites of many protags I've seen. Despite being a very big loser/coward on all outsides, he's shown to be very analytic and smart with his abilities. Many times, he's shown shaking in intimidation and fear, but the next, he can be glaring with eyes of determination. His development is far better than some others I've seen. Plus, his fight scenes are amazing. Izuku vs Todoroki was awesome. His thumb lip shot was the coolest move I've seen him do (when he was incapable of using it properly). Kyoka Jiro (Earphone Jack) Most of the time, quirks like her are either split into some kind of super screech and super senses. I think the idea of her quirk is pretty cool. Despite that, I love her style and personality though. She's probably the least fanservice female of Class A (It depends on what you're into really). Her quarreling with Kaminari are pretty cute bits too. I like lots of the others like Todoroki, Tokoyami, and Mei, but the list would be pretty big so I stuck with these guys. Who are your favorites? (Hoping this topic is seen because of how quiet this side of the forums seems to be...)
  21. Hey everyone, I've been doing a monthly Voice Actor series with different Fire Emblem Heroes' VO performers. This time I got Greg Chun because he was lucky enough to score the role of Ike in addition to Ephraim, Eldigan, and Lukas. I found out that he also did Lukas' voice for Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia, and that he found it intimidating to embody everybody's favorite mercenary. Greg has some great insights about breaking into voice acting, overusing your voice, and a little bit on the process behind winning some of his roles. He actually broke into VO through an Arnold Schwarzenegger impression! https://comedyngaming.com/news/interview-greg-chun-fire-emblems-new-ike Hope you enjoy it!
  22. I would like to hear everyone's thoughts and reactions to the American Live Action Deathnote on Netflix.
  23. "The new animated series Pokémon Generations revisits each generation of the Pokémon video game series to shed new light on some timeless moments. From the earliest days in the Kanto region to the splendor of the Kalos region, go behind the scenes and witness Pokémon history with new eyes! These bite-sized adventures, about 3 to 5 minutes long, will be released every week through December 23, 2016." December 23 is a Friday, so presumably the first one comes out tomorrow. Thoughts? I'm excited. This is probably why the Pokemon youtube channel uploaded Origins episode 1 yesterday.
  24. I was wondering what you guys think about the new upcoming Sun & Moon anime... I don't really follow the pokémon anime anymore, but from what I've gathered the X&Y series were (generally) positively received and considered a step in the right direction. I can't help but be a bit concerned when looking at this trailer... I guess I should applaud the fact that they're trying to change the formula after all these years, but I think many fans are going to be disappointed when it comes to the more simplistic artstyle (which reminds me of Yo-kai watch) and the new story concept that seems to be targeted to a even younger audience than the one right now. Of course there are a lot of things we don't know yet, so maybe it is too soon to draw conclusions? Is there still interest from older fans towards the anime? Maybe Game Freak is trying to split their viewers into two age groups, 'Pokémon Generations' catering towards an older audience and the core series towards a younger one? Let the speculation and or discussion commence! P.S. I'm aware of the fact that the Pokémon sub-forum is listed under 'general gaming' and that this topic covers the anime and not a game. But in my eyes, this place still seemed the best location to post this thread. Also I do not own or made the featured video, that honor goes to youtuber giancarloparimango11.
  25. Exactly what is says on the tin, only the best of the best errors. madoka is lowkey cheating because of how beautiful it is
