  1. Hey guys. I just found this military isekai novel called Nihonkoku Shoukan (日本国召喚) or Japan Summons/Summoning Japan. It is basically like GATE, but instead of an interdimensional portal appearing in the middle of Japan, the entire country was apparently isekai'd to another world. It is written by someone named Minorou-san. The story is still not finished and is still ongoing to this day. SYPNOSIS In the Great Orient, lies the continent called Rodenius. One day, an unidentified flying object arrived at Qua-Toyne Principality’s airspace. The unidentified flying object defied the Principality’s common sense. But that unidentified flying object was just a harbinger of something even more shocking. Far to the eastern sea, a group of islands suddenly appeared. The country of the islands called itself: Japan. According to them, their nation had been transported to another world. Now finding themselves separated from their old world and must survive in the new one, how will Japan interact with the native countries of this world? Will they greet her as a friend or as an enemy? This is a story of the country called Japan as it was engulfed in the chaotic storm of the world. ENGLISH TRANSLATIONS Unfortunately, the story is Japanese only and it doesn't seem like it would be released overseas anytime soon. So unless you can travel to Japan and understand Japanese, you won't be able to read the novel. However there are some fan translations for this story that you can find on the internet which would help people understand the dialogues and story better. However, only most of the story was translated, so you would have to wait for the translators to finish the rest. You must take note that the story is told through the Web Novel, Light Novel, and Manga. Three of them already have some translations, but as I have mentioned, they still haven't translated the entire story yet. Here are some links to the Web Novel translations: Mob of Deer Hana Bara Hana AvianTL And here are some links to the Light Novel translations: Yukkuri Free Time Literature Service Hana Bara Hana (Light Novel Version) And lastly, here is the link to the Manga translation: Nihonkoku Shoukan - MangaDex NON-TRANSLATED STORY If you can understand Japanese just fine, then you can always check out the raw manga and web novel. Unfortunately, I don't have the Light Novel, so I cannot provide you the Japanese Version of the Light Novel. Raw Manga: ComicWalker Raw Web Novel: Syosetu FAN WIKI Alternatively, if you don't want to read the entire story to know about the places, characters, and events that takes place in the story, just browse to the fan wiki. Just note that some information on the Wiki are pretty inaccurate, but the wiki is your best bet if you want to know about the tiny bits of lore of Nihonkoku Shoukan without reading the entire story. Here is the link to the Fan Wiki: Nihonkoku Shoukan Wiki If you want to read this military isekai, just click on the links of the LN/WN/Manga of Nihonkoku Shoukan (either the translated story, or the raws.) Once you are done, please share your thoughts about it. I would like to hear your thoughts about this story. (Also sorry for my terrible English)

  5. Alright, so I just finished watching the Golden Compass (it was on tv, and I tought I might watch it since there was nothing I planned for tonight), and actually I've started watching it a few years ago, but never finished it up until now, even though I always felt like I should. Obviously, I liked it (hence the topic), and I regret it a bit that I watched it so many years after I first learned about it. So, I tought I might start reading the books, but I found mixed reviews about it (mainly the ending), stating that it was lazy, unfinished or just simply bad - while others said it was emotional, and darkish (u know, sad stuff and all...). Now, I do like fantasy stories, and I'm interested in the world of this, but I'm not sure how I would feel if it turned out I read a trilogy for some rough-and-ready ending. So I just want to get some ideas if it's worth reading, or should I just skip it? (Once again, I know nothing of the books, except for what was in the film, and that the ending was controversial - though I don't know what happens there) Also, please keep the topic spoiler-free, not just for me, but for others wandering here as well :)
  6. Just curious. And if so, what race/job/server? I'm a femroe warrior on Cactuar. And here's a pic.
  7. Evander's Tale: Chapter 1b I am a person who loves Fire Emblem and used to really want to make a hack. As it turns out, I didn't have the willpower to ever do it, but I did have the willpower to write a story about someone who did--a 15 year old kid named Evan. I've got a current blog series going on where weekly I release a "chapter" of his Fire Emblem tale. Really, each chapter is an explanation of one of a series of vivid dreams he has about his world and his plot, with his real life--sometimes unfortunately--seeping into the story. This writing is meant to mimic the experience of dreaming--in intense detail, the sort that we don't remember when we wake up--but also to complicate it, and expand it into a full-fledged fantasy tale. And also to enjoy the thrill of and poke a little fun at Fire Emblem games! The first chapter isn't super Fire Emblem-esque, but later chapters will be, I promise! References, etc. will be on there way. It would mean a lot if you guys would check it out, and of course, any feedback is welcome. I also dig collaboration and collaborative writing, so if anyone is interested in that, hit me up.
  8. I figured I'd post some of my non-FE related written works here. The following 1800+ word prologue is a brief introduction to the FE-inspired JRPG I'm working on ( may put up a topic soon ). I have written some FE stuff, but the majority is AU. It has quite a few parallels to PoR.
  9. Heya! I was wondering if you guys would be interested in a free-form fantasy RP, set in a D&D-esque world. Standard rules for free-form RP would apply, but if you don't know about free-form, I'll tell you about it here. -Rules for this RP- 1. Battles do NOT involve any stats of any kind, but you can't be overpowered. E.G: You can't just kill everything in a single hit, or anything like that, and you can't do weird stuff like fly or cheat death when in circumstances that would ordinarily kill any normal character, such as getting stabbed through the neck or being set alight with no magical protection that has been mentioned earlier. 2. Characters can be anything you want them to be, basically, but as this is a fantasy setting you can't have light-sabers or ray-guns. Sorry. You also can't have god-like powers, unexplained abilities to fly, or immortality. 3. Unless it has been discussed before hand, and agreed upon, player characters can't kill other characters. A player character can die in other ways, however, such as in a battle against a villain. 4. We can make stuff up as we go along, but a set of locations should be decided upon beforehand. We would all start off in an area called 'Grimsdeep', a port-town filled with thieves and crime next to the Onyx Ocean. Player characters could arrive by ship, arrive from other towns or start off as a civillians. They could know each other already, or not know each other at all. 5. Be BALANCED. As in, you can't be the master of every single weapon, or know every single spell. Also, if you wield a combination of things- say, you use magic AND weapons- you can't be the best in the group at either, if that makes any sense. Okay, now I'll give you some basic info about the world. As this is a D&D-esque in its setting, there are wizards, rogues, warriors, druids and the like. This should help in ideas for characters: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Character_class_%28Dungeons_&_Dragons%29 The world can be discussed within PM conversations, as in, we can plan it as we go along, but still have room for changes. Here is a basic sign-up sheet. Name of character: Personality: Appearance: Biography: (Doesn't have to be detailed, could leave room for secrets revealed later on) Skills: As in, using arcane magic or picking locks, or using knives as weapons. Thanks for reading! If you're interested, please post to show this, and fill in a sign-up sheet.

  11. A group of mercenaries, the best in the whole of Nashen... The dead walking amongst the living... A quest dared upon by many, but one that no-one has ever survived... Welcome, to the Soldiers of Fortune, a group of mercenaries famed for their skill and wealth amongst the common folk. It is your very first mission, and most recruits do not survive their first... You must investigate the evils of the Tower, where there are rumors of a dread necromancer is manipulating the minds and bodies of the recently dead... You have been contracted, along with a small group of fellow recruits, to kill this dread necromancer. Setting: Nashen, a fantasy continent inhabited by elves, orcs, goblins and many other races. How many players?: 6-8 players. * * * Hello! It's time to finally get this started! Before we begin, I'd like you to copy your character sheet onto either your About Me page or your signature in a spoiler. That way we can easily keep track of your characters. I'd prefer for you to have them in your sig, but your About Me page is fine too if your sig is already pretty damn full. (Note: You can leave out the Backstory of your character out of your character if you wish to save space.) List of players: TheWarpedWizard- As the gamemaster and Silas, the priest. And your gracious host. Majestic Paladin- As the paladin Armstrong. He left. Dandragon- As the swordsman Klaine. Currently playing. Toogee- As Lucretia Dara, the archer. Currently playing. Harkas- As Arton, the thief. Currently playing. I Like Pi- As Flin, the Necromancer. Currently playing. David the SecondWorld- As Gaile, the paladin. Currently playing. Rules 1. When writing your actual RP segments, please do so in itallics. 2. If someone dies, the game still carries on. You can create a new character for the next part or when the group next visit the SoF's base, or help the gamemaster. (That's me, by the way. Your gracious host.) 3. The battle system is mainly RP based, but you will need a certain amount of a certain stat to perform most actions... [spoiler=Example Scenario!]The orc barbarian is approaching, axe swinging wildly. Do you: A) Attack with your weapon? (Requires strength equal to or greater than weapon weight and a weapon) B) Cast an attack spell? (Requires magic equal to the spells prerequisites.) C) Raise your shield? (Requires strength equal to the shield's weight, and defense equal to or higher than the orc's strength) D) Run like hell? (Requires speed greater than the orc) That was the example used on the Sign-up thread. 4. Remain in character. This is kind of an obvious one. 5. Don't hog the spotlight! Give everyone a chance to be a hero. 6. Although the party has free will, I will guide you. Remember, your goal is to slay the Dread Necromancer- not waste gold on chocolate. 7. Occasionally, there will be full-on RP sessions where you might have to question a captive or persuade someone to give you information. These won't usually give you gold or magic items, but they will often give you valuable pieces of information. 8. There will be riddles. When I do use a riddle, don't look up the answer! I'll will be very sad. 9. No one-line posts! Have around five sentences per post. Alright, here we go!~ You have been assigned your first mission as part of The Soldiers of Fortune, a infamous group of mercenaries that are spread across every corner of Nashen. You, and a group of four others, (six if Dandragon and Majestic Paladin are still involved) are going to be paid a large some of gold to kill the malevolent Dread Necromancer, Lexington Zakath. The path will be long and difficult, of that there is no doubt. But with the cooperation of your companions, you will succeed. You're standing in the courtyard of the Soldier's base, with your companions. What do you think of them? This is usually one of the first things that a gamemaster does. Pick two of the characters from the party, and roleplay as your character to describe them. (The main reason I'm doing this is because I haven't heard back from Dandragon and Majestic yet.) GO, YOUNG WARRIORS! GOGOGOGOGOGO- *cough cough* G-go....
  12. The actual thread: http://serenesforest.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=42068 The original sign-up thread. This will be dug up in between parts to possibly bring in new players and/or replacements if people leave. http://serenesforest.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=41457 Feel free to provide feedback, criticism and tips, non-members of the Soldiers. This is where we'll talk to each other about character relationships, events, and possibly character deaths. Thanks! ~YourGraciousHost, TheWarpedWizard.
  13. A group of mercenaries, the best in the whole of Nashen... The dead walking amongst the living... A quest dared upon by many, but one that no-one has ever survived... [spoiler=Sign-up Form!]Character Name: Class: Race: Gender: Starting Gear: Backstory: Stats Strength: (1-10) Speed: (1-10) Magic: (1-10) Defense:(1-10) The stats are not actually used for dice rolls or anything, they are simply used to determine how a fight goes, as this is mainly RP based and not stat-based. For example, doing certain actions may require a certain amount of a certain stat. Say, running away from battle may require you to have at least 5 speed. (Requires speed greater than the orc) I'll add more later, as it is kinda late. You have 20 points to distribute when you make a character. However, while this sounds nice, every class requires a certain amount of one or two stats: Mage: At least 7 magic. Thief: At least 7 speed. Priest: At least 6 magic. Paladin: At least 6 defense. Swordsman: At least 5 strength and speed. Archer: Same as Swordsman. It is also required to have a score of at least 3 for magic to use any magic items you may find in your travels. Everyone starts with basic armor, weapons and a single object of sentimental value. Everyone starts with health depending on their class. Thief: 18 HP. Mage: 16 HP. Swordsman: 20 HP. Paladin: 23 HP. Priest: 17 HP. Archer: 16 HP. Please adjust your sign-up forms accordingly. My apologies, I just want to rebalance things a little.
