  1. WE HAVE MOVED TO THIS THREAD. PLEASE DO NOT USE THIS CURRENT THREAD. ------------------------- Hello! This is the official topic for Team If's project, the Delocalization and Restoration of Lost Content of Fire Emblem: Fates (NA). Please post all questions you have relating to the patch here. A team member or fellow forum follower will try to answer your question as soon as possible. -- Planned Patch Files: - Amie Restoration: Restore face-rubbing into Fire Emblem: Fates. The blowing functionality may be lost. We may be unable to do this. IMPORTANT: It is suggested that a fresh save be used for any content restoration patch, as the game is accessing content previously unavailable, players may experience problems with their new content going to and from patched/unpatched; Also, do not use any content restorations online, this could lead to either bans from Nintendo, or you could possibly crash other player's games. -- Downloads: Patcher Swimsuits Undub [Mirror] Name Patch (WIP) Fanslation (WIP) (Error Log) Playable Chrom, Lissa, Frederick (Undub) (MEGA) (Dropbox) Playable Chrom, Lissa, Frederick (English) (MEGA) (Dropbox) Note: When using the undub patch, voice options 4 and 5 will result in a silent MU if the save is loaded unpatched. Why? Because options 4 and 5 don't exist in the localization. Note: The current name patch is only for the main story + status screen on-screen names. Why? Because supports also have to be individually recompressed. There's 1.1k support files. That's not a thing we'll do now. :) Note: The fanslation is still a WIP. Please report any errors to the error log. Note: Playable Chrom, Lissa, and Frederick is released as a .cia. This means it is cfw only, and since we can't release official DLC, this will cause all your active DLC to be deleted. This post will be updated later with more detailed instructions. -- Tutorials: EldinTokuro's HANS Tutorial: (.rtf viewer) (Plain text) thedude28's Extensive Guide: (Pastebin) (MEGA Download) masah_hiro's Guide for European Users: Link -- Team If [spoiler=Members] Members: -Administrators- Cellenseres (Coder) Linkmstr (Editor) ShadySheikah (Editor) luyairis (Translator) (former) KaliMizu (Editor) (former) -Coders- DeathChaos25 SciresM (inactive) Ahris -Translators- BrunhildeKnight PotatoPower Hitomi Iris in a Bottle (former) KentoBento Razer/Orange (former) -Editors/Testers- EldinTokuro Grinkdaboy KamiPeppers LadyLorien (former) Ranaline (former) ---- Division II: tBanzai (translator) Analog (translator) Mad (translator) Zoe (Editor) Thidran (Editor) sevii (Editor) thedude28 (Editor, Division Head) TabuthaRasa (Editor) : Forum Frequents (Not Affiliated with Team) Czar_Yoshi ---- Others who assisted us: RainThunder [spoiler=FAQ (Technical Questions)] FAQ: Q: What versions of this game will this work on? A: Look up. Q: Can I use this patch? A: Yes, you can. Depending on what firmware you're using, what you can patch differs! Q: Firmware? A: Here's the breakdown: If your firmware is at or below, 9.2, you can install a cfw (ReiNand is recommended), and use that to play our patch. As a .cia installion, online will work. If your firmware is between 9.3 and 10.3, you can either use Homebrew, or downgrade to 9.2 If your firmware is 10.4-10.6, your only choice is using Homebrew to temporarily patch your rom. Q: Homebrew? A: Homebrew is, simply a put, a hack released by smealum and others that allows us to make use of our 3DS a bit more. Homebrew comes with a "HANS" function, which will temporarily patch your ROM with our patch. Q: Can I use online with the HANS patch? A: Nope. Q: Can I use DLC with HANS? A: Not as of yet. We are not the developers of Homebrew. Q: What exactly is DLC? A: Anything that isn't on your physical cart when you load it in. Or, basically, anything you downloaded from the eshop. More to come. [spoiler=FAQ (Team If, Release Schedule, Ponies, etc)] FAQ: Q: Who are you guys? A: People who have their reasons. Q: Can I help? A: Send any active team member your Discord. You must be 18 years of age or older to join. Chat sometimes turns NSFW. Q: Are their any requirements for being on the team? A: Don't be a dumbass. Welcome aboard :). Q: Is working with you guys just work related only? A: 99% of the time we're just messing around :). Q: When's your next release? A: When we want to release it. Q: Can I donate? A: Donating is grounds for a DMCA from Nintendo, so no. Q: Do you guys like ponies? A: Absolutely. [spoiler=Disclaimer] Disclaimer: Team If is a coalition of members from Serenes Forest, GBATemp, and other places that have an interest in Fire Emblem If. We do our work completely for free, and will never charge any money or accept any donations. We do not own any of the content we release; they are derivatives from Nintendo's original work. We will also never release anything that would be piracy. Our files are tested locally, but we do not guarantee the safety of your 3DS. We are also not responsible should something really bad happen.
  2. Now here me out on this one guys! I acknowledge that Camilla is Haar: Conquest Edition, but Elise has potential to be on her level overall in terms of utility. I’ve been replaying Conquest recently and found myself thinking that Cam and Elise are comparable in terms of power level; albeit that they fulfill two entirely different roles, they are both overwhelmingly the best at them and are both available for most of the Conquest route. What do you guys think?
  3. Just as it says on the tin. Weekly, I will prompt discussion of a certain pair and their supports (whether or not they are of the same gender). Whether you like the pairing, what details there are that possibly change things, etc. If SoV is wanted, I will change this up. I’ll give my thoughts on a pairing later on in the week, after reading up on the support myself. First one up is a favorite of mine, Robin (M) x Tiki in Awakening. Edit: Now note that we will talk about one person from now on each week. As of this writing, that is Male Robin.
  4. I've been developing this tool over on gbatemp for the last few months, so it's already gone through some changes since its initial release. If anyone wants to try out an older version I can provide a link, though the first few versions were a little unstable. As a side note, this is my first real post on this site, so if I messed anything up, let me know! This tool allows you to randomize character classes and join order for Fire Emblem Fates. However, this randomizer goes a bit further than making simple gameplay changes - all cutscenes in the game are modified to follow the new join order. So if a character switches places with another, they will essentially take their place in the story. For example, if Selena switched places with Hinoka in Revelation, she would appear in Hinoka's place for every cutscene in Revelation. As of beta 4, the randomizer also allows for randomization of parent/child combinations. In addition to join order changes, the randomizer also includes basic support for randomizing character stats, skills, and join items. The tool is still a work in progress - while certain chapters have been tested thoroughly, others have yet to be examined. Therefore, you may run into bugs or glitches throughout a randomized playthrough. If you run into any issues or notice any cutscenes where a character's replacement does not appear as expected, please report the issue so that it can be fixed for the next version. This tool requires an up to date version of Java (Latest version of Java 8 is recommended). You can find more screenshots of the randomizer's results here. Download: link Patching: If you don't know how to run ROM hacks on your 3DS I'll give you a short break down on some of the methods for running them as well as how to gain homebrew access below. Keep in mind that homebrew entry points change drastically between firmware updates, so the methods I list below may become outdated in the future. If you want to keep homebrew access on your 3DS, I advise looking at community sources to see whether or not your entry point works on the latest version before updating your 3DS. Please note that homebrew programs do not always play well with digital versions of Fates. I advise attempting to run Fates through HANS at least once before going through the process of dumping and randomizing your game to ensure that it works correctly. Getting Homebrew Access: There are three methods for running ROM hacks: HANS, NTR, and Luma. I've included instructions for NTR and HANS below. Currently, you can set up either way of running hacks from a stock 3DS. NTR is the most convenient way to run ROM hacks, but requires you to install custom firmware first. If you want to avoid headaches in the long run and are fine with some initial setup, you can follow Plailect's guide to setup custom firmware. Given the availability of methods for setting up arm9loaderhax and custom firmware right now, I highly recommend going with this option. If you don't want to go through the setup to run hacks through NTR, your other options is HANS. For HANS, just download soundhax from here, and the homebrew launcher as well as the appropriate payload for your 3DS from this link. Place the contents of the files on your SD card, load up the sound player on your 3DS, and play the file that came with soundhax. You'll end up in the homebrew launcher if placed the files on the SD card correctly. From there, you can proceed to the directions for HANS in order to play your randomized game. For both HANS and NTR: Use this version of this version of braindump to dump your Fates ROM. Once braindump is done, take the romfs file from the dump and use romfs extractor to extract the files from the romfs. From here, you can follow the instructions listed below to randomize your ROM. Before you do though, I advise making a copy of either the romfs you dumped or the extracted files just in case anything goes wrong. HANS: When you're done randomizing your files, drag them back into the folder with the files extracted from the romfs and overwrite the original files. If you did not get a prompt asking you if you'd like to overwrite, chances are you forgot to recompress your files using FEAT after randomizing. Once everything's done overwriting, use romfs builder with the folder containing your ROM files to rebuild the romfs. Create a folder called HANS at the root of your 3DS's SD card and place the recompiled romfs inside of it. Rename your romfs to the last 8 characters of your version's ID. For braindump, this should be the last 8 character of the name of the dumped romfs. For example, 00179400.romfs would be the correct filename for US birthright. Open up homebrew on your 3DS, navigate to HANS, run Fates through it, and set the romfs option to load the romfs from the SD. Enjoy your randomized game! NTR: If you haven't installed NTR on your 3DS yet, do that first. I highly recommend using this version of NTR as it supports the latest firmware versions. Once you've followed the randomization instructions and recompressed your randomized files, download the Same-Sex expansion and copy the NTR version for your copy of Fates to the root of your SD card (you should have a "plugin" folder on the root of your SD card when all is said and done). If you don't want the contents of the patch, just delete everything from the other folder that came with the plugin (the birthright/conquest/fefatesSE folder). Afterwards, copy the randomized files into the birthright/conquest/fefatesSE folder. From there all you have to do is run NTR on your 3DS then run your copy of Fates. Keep in mind that you will need to run NTR every time you start your 3DS if you want to play with the randomized files. Enjoy! Installation: Changelog: FAQ: When I dumped my game, I only received one path even though I own the others as DLC. Why did this happen, and how can I fix it? DLC has to be dumped separately from the base game. Modifying it requires the installation of custom firmware. You will then need to use a tool like Decrypt9 to dump the DLC paths. You can then randomize the DLC paths by including their content in the randomizer folder for randomization and pulling the content back out afterwards. Finally, you can create an installable CIA for the DLC using something like ctrtool. Install that on your 3DS and you should be good to go. The file verification window said that everything verified, but I didn't get an options window! Update your version of Java. The options window uses some features from the latest versions of Java, so the window will fail to open if you're version isn't up to date. Troubleshooting: As this randomizer is still a work in progress, you may encounter bugs or glitches while using it. At this point you shouldn't encounter any serious issues like crashing, but if you do, the procedure for stopping the issues is fairly simple. First, you need to identify which chapter the issue occurs on so that you can find its files. If the issue occurs on Birthright Chapter 10, for example, the file name you'll be looking for is A010. From there, you'll need to replace files from your patch with the original files until the issue is resolved. First you should try removing all files in Scripts/bev that start with the chapter prefix. So for this example you'd delete every files in Scripts/bev that starts with A010. If that fails to fix the issue, delete the map script, which is named after the chapter (Scripts/A010.cmb in the example). If the issue persists, navigate to GameData/dispos and delete the dispo file (once again, A010.bin if you're looking at the example). That procedure should fix any issue you encounter while using the randomizer. Make sure to report your issue and the chapter it occurred on so that it can be fixed! As always, I want to thank a couple people who helped make this tool a reality: RainThunder for his nightmare modules and wiki which helped with setting up GameData and Person file randomization. DeathChaos25 for his original randomizer and general contributions to the 3DS Fire Emblem hacking community. Dylos for the inspiration to make the tool as well as his efforts to help with testing more unstable versions of the randomizer. SciresM for his archive tool, FEAT.
  5. Fire Emblem Fates: Upgraded, the way Fire Emblem Fates is meant to be played. About this hack: What this hack plans to do is change a lot of things in the game to balance it better, make the game harder, fix the story, and fix many inconsistencies with the localization, so you could call this Fire Emblem Fates Deluxe, or Fire Emblem Fates Definitive, I intend for it to have a feel like that, some of the changes are: Katanas give avoid and effective speed but have lower strength. Most Nohrian weapons are given more might and a little less accuracy. Bows were given more accuracy, and might. Silver weapons no longer debuff after use. Daggers have a new small edit. The Yato gives some stat bonuses. Weapons like the Kodachi can now follow up! But weapons like the Spear cannot. Most Birthright Boss’ weapon placements are changed. Some boss themes are moved around. Xander and Ryoma can now have a special theme for their final fight in Birthright and Conquest! (Information at the Questions and Answers section, and link is in the downloads section) Xander has been buffed at his final fight in Birthright, as well as a new gameplay change was added for it (Lunatic and Hard Mode only). All Birthright bosses have been buffed. The Siegfried and Raijinto have been differentiated more. The Fujin Yumi and Brynhildr give a very small bonus. Birthright, Revelation, and Hero Battle enemy stats are now decreased slightly on Hard mode and greatly on Normal mode. Many translation errors, like Setsuna’s personal skill, Nyx’s death quote, Hinata’s death quote, Oboro’s death quote etc. are fixed. Changes the unit creation screen Boon and Bane text to be like Awakenings. Changed the main lord’s death theme. (Information on how to change it back is at the Questions and Answers section, Question 6.) Most Vallites are buffed, on Lunatic and Hard mode. All Invasions are edited. Added Scaling to the Hero battles plus change 14! Lilith now has Dragon Ward as a personal skill! As a result of change 1 and 5 the Yatos changes are much more varied. Xander has a new description. Ryoma does too. So much more... It also plans to add in plenty of new supports as well as audio in supports, chapters, paralogues, and perhaps some characters, as well as use some of Team IFs translation text to change the games text to properly express the characters different feelings and make different supports clearer, this hack also plans to add recruitment methods for characters in the Birthright path (such as Sakura being able to recruit Hinoka), and mothers being able to recruit the children characters, this hack also plans to add a few custom DLCs, as well as add Hoshidan and Nohrian Festival of Bonds and a new Apotheosis called “True Apotheosis”… yes I know that’s a lot, maybe I should go ahead and call this Fire Emblem Fates Ultimate. (Everything in the hack is bound to change, and is in no way affiliated with Nintendo or Intelligent Systems.) Previous version: .4827 Current version: .4848Rev5 Hack Status: Stalled Be sure to take a look at the screenshots. The change log, and logo are present in the links below, if you enjoy the hack be sure to follow me to stay up to date with the latest releases of Fates Upgraded, and give it a like. Also feel free to comment, ask questions, make suggestions and whatever else, but most questions can be answered by reading the change log, or the Questions and Answers section, thank you and enjoy! Hack progress: I split the hack currently into two version, the Faithful version, and the Upgraded version: The Faithful version: The version that is currently being worked on, is a version that does lots of edits but doesn’t change the game too much. The Upgrade version: The version that changes a lot about the game, to make it more varied and enjoyable, such as every chapters goal in Birthright not being Sieze, Rout, or Kill Boss. Faithful Birthright Edits: Complete Faithful Birthright My Castle Invasion edits: Complete Faithful Birthright Paralogue Edits: Complete Faithful Conquest Edits: Chapters: 25, 27, EG done. (I don’t think I’ll be doing anymore edits to it.) Faithful Conquest My Castle Invasion edits: Complete Faithful Conquest Paralogue Edits: Complete Faithful Revelation Path Edits: Chapters 6-15 are done. Faithful Revelation My Castle Invasion Edits: Complete Faithful Revelation Paralogue Edits: Complete Upgrade Birthright Path: Not in production… Upgrade Conquest Path: Not in production… Upgrade Revelation Path: Not in production… DLCs: Not in production… Items and Descriptions Editing: Complete (Until further notice.) Support editing: Not in production… Script editing: Not in production… Recruitment Methods: Not in production… NOTE: Though this hack is made for the US versions of the games, you might be able to use them with any regions files with a bit of work. Again, thank you all! ☺️ Questions and Answers: Question 1: How do I even load the hack!? Answer: You will need to use a file patcher, like the LayeredFS in Luma CFW, if you haven’t installed Luma yet here is a link to all the information for it: https://github.com/AuroraWright/Luma3DS/wiki Question 2: How do I open the .rar file? Answer: You can use WinRAR for that (even after the trial period you can keep using it for free). Question 3: Why isn’t the new theme for Ryoma and Xander already loaded in the hack? Answer: EDIT: The theme sounds good, but the Iron 15 file is really large and could take up too much room on a SD card so I left it out of the hack, but it can be put in and used in the game, instructions are around the bottom of the Changelog. Question 4: Why don’t I see any changes in Birthright? I’m playing on hard mode. Answer: EDIT: This is a problem on version .4792, but with the release of .4825 this problem should be fixed. Question 5: You composed the theme for Xander and Ryoma yourself? Answer: No. It was taken from another game and added to Fates Upgraded same with the main lord’s death theme. Question 6: How do I add the changed main lord death theme? Answer: 1. In the hack files either: FatesUpgradedFatesBirthrightGame.rar, FatesUpgradedFatesConquestGame.rar, or FatesUpgradedFatesSpecialEditionGame.rar 2. Go in the "LumaLayeredFS" hack folder of the game hack (eg. FEFatesBirthrightFatesUpgradedLumaLayeredFSFiles) navigate to and then enter the folder "stream" in the folder "Sound", once inside delete REMOVETHISMESSAGETOADDIT from the filename "sys_gameover_E1.dspadpcmREMOVETHISMESSAGETOADDIT.bcstm" and you're done. Question 7: Is this hack compatible with Gay Fates? Answer: I’m not sure, but I don’t think so, it would probably require some effort to make the hack work with it, whether it’ll take little or a lot again I don’t know. Question 8: How do I revert the changed chapter names? Answer: 1. In the hack files: FatesUpgradedFatesBirthrightGame.rar, FatesUpgradedFatesConquestGame.rar, or FatesUpgradedFatesSpecialEditionGame.rar 2. Go in the "LumaLayeredFS" hack folder of the game hack (eg. FEFatesBirthrightFatesUpgradedLumaLayeredFSFiles) 3. Navigate to and then enter the folder "@E" in the folder "m", once inside delete or what I recommend, rename the file "GameData.bin.lz" to something else and rename "GameDataWITHVANILLACHAPTERNAMES.bin.lz" to "GameData.bin.lz" and you're done. Disclaimer: Though the risk of the hack with proper installation and use seriously damaging your 3DS is not high, I will not be liable for any damage this hack does to your 3DS, if you choose to install it, you do so at your own risk of damage. Everything changed by the hack is bound to change, and is in no way affiliated with Nintendo or Intelligent Systems. 6. Fire Emblem If Fan Translation version 4.2 (available now!) Hey everyone! It's been seven months since the last patch release. Since then, the project was passed on to a new group of fans. But we're still Team If, and we're doing our best to finish the rest of the game for you guys. From now on, all patch releases and files can be found on our GitHub. This makes it easier for us to host patches, push updates more quickly, and track issues in a more organized manner. GitHub Repository: https://github.com/TeamIf/FireEmblemIf-FanTranslation Current Release: https://github.com/TeamIf/FireEmblemIf-FanTranslation/releases/latest Instructions and Other Tutorials: https://github.com/TeamIf/FireEmblemIf-FanTranslation/wiki DLC Patching Instructions: https://www.dropbox.com/s/mh907whp57ecb2m/Guide.rtf?dl=0 The plan is to update the repository on a monthly basis while assembling ready-to-use patch releases once certain milestones have been reached. If you find any issues while playing with the patch, please let us know! We're using GitHub's issue tracker to keep track of typos and other potential problems. Issue Tracker: https://github.com/TeamIf/FireEmblemIf-FanTranslation/issues Current Progress (updated 2/7/2017) Credits: As always, we're on the lookout for new team members! If you'd like to lend a hand and either know Japanese or have a firm grasp of English grammar, we'd be happy to have you. For more information, just shoot me a PM.
  7. Note: Feel free to move this topic if it’s in a bad place. Sometimes, (mostly in the newer games) you read a support conversation and think, “that was bad.” Whether it’s a P/C that doesn’t take the Non-Determinate parent into account enough, an S-Support that comes off as awkward or loveless *cough*FredrickxCordelia*cough*, or just a support that had incredible potential, but eschews interesting character development for the purposes of being “funny.” Well, as an aspiring author who has been thinking about these supports for a while, now, I thought I’d take a stab at being better than IntSys. List: (Requests accepted) Henry and Noire P/C C-A Corrin and Camilla C-A Hinata and Oboro S
  8. Basically what happens when the likes of Mortis Ghost and Claude Higgins get their hands on Fire Emblem Fates. So this is a fangame, done in RPG Maker XP, so it will not have the same mechanics as Fire Emblem Fates. In fact, it will have very similar mechanics to OFF by Mortis Ghost (along with its own fangames, including UNKNOWN). But it is based off Fire Emblem Fates and pretty well 99% of the content is Fire Emblem Fates, even if portrayed differently (e.g. not the official resources). Okay so what happens is there is a Revelation timeline, created over a Conquest timeline but then Conquest tries to take over (hence the creepypasta-esque name Conquest.exe) and a huge struggle ensues. Like UNKNOWN, there will be multiple endings, based on the player's actions and the methods to get them will be secret (meaning the game itself won't give you hints, you'll have to find out for yourself or ask others how to get all the endings). It's going to be incredibly dark and stuff. It centres around the Avatar and her (headcanon) married family - Ryoma, Kana and Shiro and their determination to keep the timeline stable and protect it from characters from the Conquest timeline (but of course the other characters from the Rev. timeline will be assisting). Then along comes a Puppeteer... The Puppeteer decides to help the Rev!Characters out (if you don't want to help them out, then don't play at all, it's that simple) but evil ensues. So yeah, take care out there, my friends, and- YXZvaWQgc2VwcHVrdQ==
  9. As a part of an upcoming story rewrite patch a friend and I decided that one of the issues that needs to be fixed is the map. So he made a political map that a kind person from the 3dsFE hacking discord made into a patchable file. To instal, simply make a file in romfs named field and remove the -1 from the patch file's name. hope you all enjoy! 10. Hey, this is Azure. I came here on behalf of those working on Fire Emblem Fates 2: Electric Boogaloo. It’s basically a redoing of Fate’s story on all three paths. As well as monster encounters (basically make it to where everything isn’t just Faceless). While we may not need it now, we will eventually need an artist to make some custom portraits in the Kozaki artstyle for characters without portraits that need to be added into the game, new enemies, etc., if they have the time. Here is the link to the original thread: Have @SandstormSaber send you an invite. Thank you.
  11. So, I plan on making some written works here, and I decided to make his so you can understand who I have paired up with who. All of these stories will take place in the same universe... sort of. Basically, in this universe, there are: -2 separate Awakening timelines -2 separate Fates: Revelation timelines -1 Smash World that brings them together. This accommodates for each Corrin and Robin of each gender. Before we get to the pairings, a few notes in the spoiler below. Anyways, the pairings: Awakening: Robin timeline Awakening: Reflet Timeline Fates Revelation: Corrin timeline Fates Revelation: Kamui timeline If there are any thoughts and concerns about the details here, let me know.
  12. Well, today I got some rare free time, and decided to try playing Fates again after about a year hiatus. I thought I'd limit myself by trying an Ironman run. The Rules: 1: We will be playing on Lunatic/Classic 2: We will not reset if a unit dies. If my Corrin dies, I reserve the right to try again, or this might be a very short run. 3: No DLC grinding for XP or gold. Grinding supports in castle battles is okay. 4: I will limit myself to one "bought" skill per unit 5: No Bond units will be used, but "Captured" units are okay. 6: We will be starting after the route split. 7: Children paralogs will be played, if available, and children units are okay to use. 8: I will be skipping over most of the story for this LP, since it's more about seeing how well badly I do. 9: To make things interesting, I will let the audience pick who my Corrin will wed in holy matrimony. 10: If I forgot any rules, I reserve the right to add more rules. I've already married Jakob and Kaze in past playthroughs, so I prefer to try someone different, but we'll see how it goes. 13. I've been digging through GBATemp and Serenes for awhile trying to get answers, I can't seem to find any. I am using FEFEditor and its built in FEFNightmare4, following the tutorial on editing character AIDS. I've been attempting to open ROM3.lz, only to have it open to nothing. Options in the file show that the file is open, but nothing shows up. I am running Java 8 Update 201 and running roms on Citra. Any Advice is welcome. EDIT: I'm able to open modules with the program, but I am still not able to open ROM3.lz.
  14. During a recent replay of Conquest I noticed a familiar line from King Garon in chapter 14 after corrin had quelled to rebellion in Cheve... Garon: When I heard that your group destroyed Cheve, I couldn't have been prouder. Rebellions are like seeds. One must salt the earth before they sprout. There is a moment with similar context in the end of part 2 of Radiant Dawn with this exchange of lines Both of these actions are morally grey, and both involve eradicating a group of people to establish order and control over each said kingdom, the main difference between these events is the light each game portrays the event in. Now I'm not here just to bash Corrin and fates story because those are two very dead horses but I wanted to discuss what ways this scene could of had a better impact. After reading the script of the event in both games the purpose of the Fates version is to establish how evil and merciless Garon is compared to Corrin, and how confused and disgusted he is with Garon's method of ruling. This is further assisted by the game beforehand showing Hans enjoying the job far to much and with the annoyingly transparent dialogue from Garon immediately after the quote. It went something along the lines of "I heard you enjoyed watching the light fade from their eyes" and how such an act was "very befitting of Nohr royalty" and all that junk. While in contrast Queen Elincia's event showed her making a grey decision, she was willing to make that choice despite the involvement of killing her countrymen because she was up to task of ruling and had already displayed the ability to make those hard decisions before, like when she sacrificed Lucia and didn't release Ludveck (of course the greil mercs save her anyway). Both of those events were good for her character because despite her being a good person who hates violence and abhors death she was able to make decisions that went against what she wants. Garon on the other hand doesn't have that luxury... Given what decisions he has already made and enforced in this game up to this point telling Corrin to kill his rebelling countrymen is no surprise at all, and even with that being a thing there is still a lot of ways this scene could of been better handled. I for one don't mind Corrin's bases as a character, my only complaint is that all opposing views are treated as either wrong or just plain evil, if this scene was handled as way to show Corrin a different point of view and show the flaws in his ideals, the game would of benefited immensely from it, giving corrin the option to accept of deny that decision while either seeing his own way thinking being to flawed to continue, or to accept the flaws in his ideals and keep striving for them regardless. The tldr of this is that Elincia made an interesting decision, one that contrasted with her character, while Garon under the same context made a forgettable one. One situation is morally grey, while the other is black and white. So my last question is how would scenes differ in Fates if it were handled in the grey area rather than black and white. What scenes would have a different impact?

  16. I am currently having trouble with installing the english translation for fire emblem if, I have all the necessary items for it, however when I start the process it stops working immediately, and yes I have Custom firmware. thank you and all help will be greatly appreciated.
  17. Hello everyone! I've been lurking here for a long time, (maybe 4 or 5 years?) I think this account has been just sitting up and collecting dust for a while, I finally got some time for an introduction: I'm Fates Blade, a hacker who's currently working on some projects, with the most interesting one for now probably being Fire Emblem Fates: Upgraded which I plan to post on this forum, that's about it. Thank you all.
  18. This will be big. I'm sure you can tell that. This will be a giant PMU of Fates, where I try to use every unit in the game once in a PMU. I have the first one going on currently, and that is where we shall start. I will use this post to make quick summaries about each part of each run, as well as where you can vote for other members of later PMU's. So, let's see where this goes, shall we? First Run Here is a link to the place to vote if need be: Anyways, tomorrow, it's time to start the first episode, where we obtain Rhajat and get closer to finishing.
  19. This was an idea I had recently, were I try to do enough PMU's to have used every single Fates unit at least once. The first of these has been going on, but has been but on hold due to needing rescue staffs for Shiro when my only sources of them were Lottery or Skirmishes. But anyways, this will be about deciding on the units for the other PMU's (and a change for the first PMU). Obviously, there will be rules. And here they are: And to see who can be chosen, here is a google sheet showing the spaces left for each PMU as well as the units left to be chosen: Currently looking for 8 Gen 1 units and 2 Gen 2 units for the second PMU, as well as M!Kana's class. Here is a link to the main LP:
  20. I was considering running either a Dark mage, master ninja, mechanist, paladin, archer, cavalier, dread fighter or one of the knight(?) classes. I really have no idea; first file was a priestess with magic boon and luck or skill bane, it was decent as a support. For ref; female Corrin here!
  21. Hello, and welcome to the thread for my semiblind ironman Let's Play / Roleplay of all three paths of Fire Emblem Fates for the 3DS. This screenshot let's play is done in the style of a magical war journal written by the main character, Dakota. Who exactly is Dakota? Dakota is a rather unlikely hero: a creepily pragmatic, eugenics-obsessed, megalomaniacal, narcissistic, borderline-sociopathic, socially inept control freak with basically only one redeeming quality: their genuine love for the select few people who manage to get close to their heart. Their motivations are not quite as noble as the canon avatar, though there's no lack of drive to accomplish them, and there is some humanity in there somewhere. What do you mean by "Semiblind"? Basically, I've been super hyped for this game, so I have checked out the wiki for certain stuff. I know most of the basic classes and skills, and a handful of the new basic weapons (though I have not read up at all on the metagame and thus only have my 12 years of experience playing Fire Emblem to work out which of them are and aren't useful), I've seen Nintendo's site and know about all the characters and information/videos listed there, but when it comes to anything beyond that, the rest of the characters, the maps, the story, I am almost totally blind. Almost. What I know: How will this work? Basically Dakota will go through Birthright first and Conquest second, with Revelation being third. Dakota's gender will also go by the covers of the two games. Dakota will be male in Birthright, Female in Conquest, and whichever I decide I prefer in Revelation. Here are the designs i came up with for Male and Female Dakota using the Serenes Forest "Kamui Editor": Male: Female: As for the rules I'll be using in this LP: I'll use every non-dlc trick available to me that I can discover in both versions, but I'm not allowed to reset unless the game forces me to for losing an important character or failing the mission, and I cannot abuse this to force a reset to get a lost character back. I may also exploit the fact that I still have my original 3DS (and that I'm buying physical copies of both versions for collecting reasons) to self-streetpass if I can come up with an interesting thing storywise to do with it (and boy do I think I can). Also, while I won't be using DLC, I'll be using the amiibo because I have them, and because they add characters I feel I can do interesting things with. I update every day but thursday, some time around 6 eastern standard time, though the length of the battle means this can vary, and you can expect later updates the further into each path I get. Is there reader participation? YES! As of Conquest, I've decided to start using the castle visiting feature, but I've decided that I won't visit random castles. I'll only be able to access the ones that are sent to me. I haven't fully worked it out because I'm trying to avoid spoilers so I don't want to look up much, but here's my card: Just punch this address in and visit my castle, and then you'll be on my visit list and I'll visit you back. You might even make a cameo appearance in the series!
  22. Back when fates first released, I was super excited to hear that wifi battles were finally making a return from Shadow Dragon. They might be a bit janky, but I love this kind of stuff. Well, one thing turned to another, and I didn't really get a chance to try it out. Now that the game's been out a few years (and presumably the meta has settled), I'm really curious to hear what's really considered meta. Stuff like team compositions, skill builds, weapons, all that juicy stuff. For that matter, is online really a thriving thing at this point? I'm kinda surprised not to see much discussion on it.
  23. Hi guys. I need some help with some Fire Emblem Fates pairings. I'll be playing on Revelations and what I want to get is the most "optimal" pairings for each child unit in the game. I'm aware that there seems to be a bit more of a compromise with pairings that you have to make in this game as compared to in Awakening. That being said, I do want to give Velouria, Shigure & Soleil the best inheritances they can have, and then I don't really mind with the rest of the units settling for whatever there is as a 'second-best'.
  24. Hey guys, Here's what's been done so far: - dumped the installed CIA as a .CXI using GodMode9 - extracted gamedata.bin.lz from .CXI file by mounting it as an Image - tried to paste edited gamedata.bin.lz within the currently installed title (mounted as image) - met with error saying I cannot paste files in a virtual game path I'm trying to edit the classes and characters using Nightmare and FEFeditor but to no avail. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
  25. I finally got Conquest after so, so long, and there's something I'm really curious about: if I have someone in a class that has a certain weapon rank and it's maxed out, then I reclass them in a class whose max weapon rank with the weapon is lower than in the previous class, can that character still use weapons with a higher rank than the new class's rank cap? (ex: If I promote Nyx into a Sorcerer and work up her Tome rank to S, then reclass her into a Dark Knight (whose Tome rank is A), can I still use Excalibur on her as a Dark Knight?). I really need to know, this is gonna affect how I plan out my promotions.
