IF YOU HAVEN'T PLAYED THE FIRST TRAILS OF COLD STEEL, STAY AWAY FROM THIS THREAD. IT'S PRETTY MUCH IMPOSSIBLE TO DISCUSS ANYTHING ABOUT TOCS2 WITHOUT MENTIONING KEY TOCS1 SPOILERS. XSEED delivers once again, ladies and gentlemen. Official site Getmatsu article XSEED's Trails facebook page Apparently the European release is scheduled for November 11th or something. Trails of Cold Steel II (originally Sen no Kiseki II) is a direct sequel to Trails of Cold Steel, much like Trails in the Sky SC was to the first Trails in the Sky. Following the events of the first game, Rean finds himself near his hometown, separated from his friends, after being out cold for a month... yeah, that means you aren't going to school this time. While Trails of Cold Steel 1 worked pretty well as a stand-alone game (cliffhanger ending aside), you absolutely can't say the same of ToCS2. It pretty much assumes you've gone through the first game, and the references to events of the Crossbell arc are even more obvious, as things go wild in the neighboring city-state. Personally I wasn't very fond of the first Cold Steel, but this sequel surprised me very pleasantly. Except for the interlude. That part was terrible, but thankfully it was short too. Notably, ToCS2 does away with ToCS1's repetitive and predictable plot structure, and lets you build your party pretty much freely.

In anticipation of the impending Steam summer release of Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky SC (hopefully by late September at the latest), I just wanted to create this topic to generate some discussion about the series. Feel free to discuss any of the games in the series! As for myself, I've only played the Trails in the Sky trilogy and Crossbell duology. I was wondering if anyone has played the Simplified Chinese versions of SC, the 3rd, Zero, and Ao? (I'm assuming most players who were impatient like me went directly to the Japanese version.) I'm also curious of what your opinions are on the Chinese translation? For me I noticed that the translators maintained a Japanese flavor in terms of diction and phrasing. E.g. 初次见面， 请多多关照。 vs 初めまして、どうぞよろしくお愿いします。In any case, I was able to enjoy the story, and I look forward to seeing how Xseed handles the localization of SC. I'd rank the games in the following order: Ao>SC>FC>Zero>3rd

I'm a couple of weeks late on this... but in commemoration of the release of the Second Chapter, I'll be doing a playthrough of Trails in the Sky! Not just a regular old playthrough, of course; that would be far too simple! Instead, I'm going to attempt a Nightmare difficulty, no carry-overs (NG+ bonuses), low level perfect game! Sounds like a lot of fun, right? Anyway, let me define my goals more clearly: 1) Nightmare difficulty, no carry-over (duh) 2) Maximum BP 3) Open all treasure chests 4) Complete all sidequests, recruit all characters, get all recipes, etc. 5) Maybe fill out the monster book. I'm not sure if I'll do this at all, or leave it until late game, or how it will fit in the context of LLG, etc. Unlike my Persona 3 playthrough, I won't be posting videos of the entire run, as that would be far too tedious in a game with this kind of length. Instead, I'll just be providing videos of the battles. And here is the first one! In case you are worried about me abandoning my other playthrough(s), don't worry; equal time will be spent on both this and the Persona project for now
