  1. I think it's been a few years since I've done a LP on SF. Real life has been quite busy, and well working in medicine hasn't allowed me much respite due to current events. But now and then I think I can take some time for myself and get back into the hobby of gaming. Banner of the Maid is a relatively new tactical CRPG that on first glance looks like a cross between Fire Emblem and FFTA in terms of isometric map perspective. It's set during a fictionalized account of the French Revolution so a few familiar historical names are thrown around. The game is built on the Unity Engine. It's made by Azure Flame Studio which is based in Mainland China. It has been translated to English, although the voice acting is in Mandarin Chinese. I'll be going into this completely blind. I won't be screenshotting on the dialogue, so I'll sum up some things.
  2. Battle for Wesnoth has been around as long as I can remember. I have tapped and prodded it on and off for close to a decade now. It is the effort of many hands over the course of years. People who've been there from closer to the start remember a time before it was the polished, Steam-worthy production it is today. when did this become more beautiful than this? Wesnoth is, itself, a tactical, turn-based RPG. Your minions are somewhat individual, though not to the degree of, say, most Fire Emblem characters. It is also unashamedly reliant on the RNG - most of the time, units on flat ground will hit each other 60% of the time, and it's very rare to see higher than 70% or lower than 30%. It was thrown out into the world as an engine. People of varying ability wrote and designed campaigns for it. There is an extensive and by this stage generally excellent standard of both portrait and sprite art, pretty decent music, and a competitive online scene. It's evolving, but some rules remain the same. Myself and Integrity (each of us having finished... approximately a third of the campaigns before) will teach you how to survive in this cold, unfeeling environment, as we complete all sixteen of the campaigns that are not called Under the Burning Suns. We will need your help. Specifically, minions - they're renamable, and sometimes to a degree customisable in terms of promotion paths. Anyone who puts themselves up for adoption in the thread will have a guy named after them for each campaign. Feel free to specify if you generally want to be, say, a tough melee guy, or a flashy skirmisher, an archer or a wizard. I'll adapt your preference to the available unit list of the given campaign - each deals with a different race and thus has different options available to them. This will start to be implemented in the second campaign each onwards - we're starting off with the easy baby campaigns, before moving onto the longer epics. The menu has many options, none of which I'm going to bother you wi- w h a t t h e f u c k -th. There is also a tutorial. It does not matter. Let Arne (whose artist statement is to my recollection something like 'I want an overweight, past-it, mid-life-crisis type guy) be your guide. 3. Let's call this my forum Debut. I'm here because, after lurking for a while, I've looked around and gotten really into a couple of Let's Plays. So, following in that train of thought, I'm bringing you a Let's Play from a patch right here in the Forest. It's called Monster Quest, and the patch is for Sacred Stones. The premise? All of your dudes (with the exception of the Lords and Tethys) are monsters. I haven't actually played this before, so I'll be learning it as I go.
  4. (((Starting note, please ignore any typos that require a capital "o". Please and thank you )) Hello and welcome to this project that I've been working on for a while. I'm not too good with intros, but here we go. You can read the hub here; https://imgur.com/gallery/EtN9dFQ Twitter mommnent: https://twitter.com/i/moments/1059121332959539200 *New!* Feedback room: I am still fine with you in posting in this thread and somewhat would prefer it. But ill just give a basic run down of what this thing is. This project is a continuation of my FE11 image LP that I originally started to document for a friend of mine who does not play videogames. And soon it spiraled into a Visual Novel inspired reinterpretation of FE12's plot. The continuity of the story follows the FE11 LP, but I write with the intention that reading the first LP Is not a requirement. My goal of this project is two things; Firstly; Remixing elements to make the fan translation of FE12 to be more coherent, focused on Marth, add more character interactions, and I add new twists along Marth's journey through the War of Heroes, and to start there is a new MU. Replacing Kris is a traveler named Pearl, a sailor who has a knack for dark magic. They plot to get into the knighting academy to retrieve the Falchion for their own ritual to bring someone they love dear. Secondly; is to analyze and commentate on the player interactions within the game universe. By treating the actions I take to always be "canon" you see then the ripple effect of how my actions impact the characters in the world psychologically and physically. This can be as direct as evidence of this being an "iron man" run, and when friends die – characters take time to lament over my own player incompetence. Yet, on the other hand, the impact of this player controlling characters relationship can be taken to its logical extreme; some questioning the fact of "is Naga the true god here"?, characters with cannon "future sight" abilities horrified that things are not / will not go "by the in-game script", "save stating" and then "reloading" makes characters feel as if they're taken out of their own bodies or violated mentally, to something as little as our own spotless "goodie two-shoes Prince Marth being aware of how easy it is for any character to kill their friends they know canonically if and when the own gameplay allows for it. And not only knowing that he can but having the baseline motivation to do so in the first place, because the gameplay allows both him and you the player to shank your friends. In short; every deviation from "the sparse canon script" is to be heavily noted for it was done intentionally because of player interaction with the stories fate itself. It is called a "rewrite". It's this balance between both "bumping up" the script and bringing in meta-commentary which has made it somewhat difficult to find a platform to showcase this work, but I think you guys would quite enjoy this. Here are the links to the individual chapters, all hosted on Imgur due to the visual style format. I love the conversations! Additionally, shout outs to any of the editors who translated the original FE12 script and put it up on the our wiki. Seriously, this couldn't have been made without you.
  5. I am a man of my word. Let me know if you want this continued. It was kind of a pain to put together, so I'm not sure I want to, but if there's enough interest I could make more screenshot "episodes" or try to record a video series. Anyway. Go vote for Higsby. He doesn't show up until, like, the second scenario. Have a blessed day.
  6. Hello everyone! I'm currently making an Let's Play for The Sacred Stones. Specifically, I'm doing an Ironman run on Hard using a Changes-Lite patch I made. Here's a link to the first episode. And here's a link to the full playlist (you don't need to watch the intro). I'll be uploading daily, so if your interested, be sure to check it out. If you have any questions or comments, feel free to let me know. I hope to see you there!
  7. Welcome to my Changes-Lite Patch for The Sacred Stones! The Goal of this Patch was to make the least amount of changes to the base game for the greatest positive result. I’d recommend it to anyone who enjoys the base game, but is looking for a tighter experience with a handful of quality-of-life patches sprinkled in. If you’d like to learn more about the patch, I’ve created a video detailing what I believe to be some of the more important changes found within the patch. If you want to try the patch out yourself, or just learn more about it, feel free to click the links below: Changelog UPS Patch How to apply a UPS Patch (Thanks Arch!) If your interested, I’m also making a Let’s Play using the patch, so be sure to check it out. To those of you who made it this far, thank you for your interest! If you have any questions or comments, feel free to let me know. Enjoy!
  8. hey! ever since my friend showed me the yune randomizer, i've been wanting to do an fe7 run with it. i started this evening and ohh my god... everything is set to maximum randomness. i've never done an LP before, but hopefully it'll be entertaining(?!) if there's ways i can do better, please do lemme know! please pardon the awkward first couple screenshots, i forgot there's an in-app screencap option at first LOL === === === === ch4-6
  9. So here's my thread for every LP that isn't my primary LP (currently Valkyria Chronicles 4, go ahead and check it out by clicking that link). Here, you can expect to see video LPs of various games. Anyway, I'll try to post videos for three games over the course of each week. So with that, my first vid will be Fire Emblem: Mystery of the Emblem, Book 1. And in this part, Ogma and Caeda show off just how awesome they are while Cain and Abel also are total one-crit wonders.
  10. Hello everyone! After having lots and lots of fun playing circleseverywhere's self-randomizing FE8, I decided to finally make this run. The rules are simple : 1- Let's have fun - The run must be played on hard mode, with the default settings for a randomization. 2- Time loop rule : no man down - If a unit dies, the run is reset. The seed will be named after the dead unit. 3 - No cheating - If I'm stuck against the Demon King because I have no legendary weapons, that's life. I have to redo the whole run in order to get a chance to get a legendary weapon. However, this case should be extremely rare and if I ever reach the Demon King, I should have a weapon at my disposal. 4 - Playing for fun - I'll try to turtle as less as I could in order to make the run entertaining. That means for example that I shouldn't grind bards/dancers just to make it easier for me. Everything is fair game as long as it's efficient. With that in mind, let's begin! Prologue and Chapter 1 I have no clue if I'll ever be able to finish this, but expect a wild ride.
  11. I'm constantly commentating, speaking my mind, interacting with viewers, trying to figure out which units are good/bad while doing my best to keep every one alive. The game also runs on 60 fps with upscaling, so it looks very smooth and detailed on top. I'm looking forward to getting to know you and don't forget to say hello to my waifu.
  12. Well, today I got some rare free time, and decided to try playing Fates again after about a year hiatus. I thought I'd limit myself by trying an Ironman run. The Rules: 1: We will be playing on Lunatic/Classic 2: We will not reset if a unit dies. If my Corrin dies, I reserve the right to try again, or this might be a very short run. 3: No DLC grinding for XP or gold. Grinding supports in castle battles is okay. 4: I will limit myself to one "bought" skill per unit 5: No Bond units will be used, but "Captured" units are okay. 6: We will be starting after the route split. 7: Children paralogs will be played, if available, and children units are okay to use. 8: I will be skipping over most of the story for this LP, since it's more about seeing how well badly I do. 9: To make things interesting, I will let the audience pick who my Corrin will wed in holy matrimony. 10: If I forgot any rules, I reserve the right to add more rules. I've already married Jakob and Kaze in past playthroughs, so I prefer to try someone different, but we'll see how it goes. If the top choice dies before we can consummate the marriage, I'll try to pick the next top available choice. If anyone wants to visit my castle during this glorious campaign, my address is 05107-66614-62592-54117. Feedback and comments are always welcome! For Marriages and Stuff Summary as of Page 24
  13. Some years back, I started a randomized run of FE7 on another forum. In the nearly four years since, I've updated through Chapter 4 and the original forum has effectively died. I'm migrating the previous updates here, and while I plan on having Chapters 5 and 6 done before the weekend is up, this is still going to be an infrequently-updated LP. The Format I've randomized basically everything but unit movement, and the extent to which I randomized certain numbers was more or less decided by RNG in itself. In the event that the game becomes unplayable before Lyn's story ends, I'll restart; otherwise it's the end of the playthrough (unless it's a simple fix). After unlocking Eliwood's story I might re-roll just to keep things fresh; if I'm really bored I might do HHM with some more ridiculous changes. By and large, updates will be pictures and gifs with text commentary below. This will, unfortunately, include my attempts at humor, which in general are less amusing than the scenario itself. Failed attempts at chapters may be posted as their own updates, as sidebars in the chapter completion update, or ignored altogether depending on my whims. At this point I'm still undecided on how to handle unit losses past Lyn's story, so anyone who wants to chime in is more than welcome to. Previous Updates
  14. Von Plays Fire Emblem: The Blazing Blade (Hector Normal) (Randomized) Introduction Hello everyone! So I'm going to try my hand at a randomized Let's Play of Blazing Blade. This'll give me something else interesting to do while I think about Support chain ideas for Sanctaea Chronicles. Here are my settings. It won't be anything too crazy, I don't think. I'm not going to randomize items. It's too bad characters in originally gender-locked classes won't be able to use new sprites. I guess we'll just have to pretend they're in drag. So yeah... I think that's all I have to say for this intro. Anyway, let's give this thing a spin!
  15. 17. After testing so many times things to record gameplay, I decided to give it a shot by making a sorta Let's play of Wario Land 4. I could do a FE next if things go well. Since I'm totally new to this, the commentary is provided by subtitles so you have to turn them on. It can also be a little cheezy, but I'm not afraid of showing my adorkable side. Here's the first part!: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QQBryKN2G7I I'm totally open for criticism, so if you wanna suggest something, tell me c:
  18. Hello Friends! Some of you might be aware how excited I have been for the release of Octopath Traveler. Ever since the game was announced and I played the first demo, I have been nonstop talking about this game. Now I am here to share some of my thoughts as I journey through the land of Orsterra and step into the shoes of these 8 protagonists. Things to keep in mind as reading this This is my first play through of the game, so I can promise I won't find all of the little hidden gems along the way. This play through will be essentially blind. I did play the prologue chapter demo for each of the protagonists before the game came out, but I am not looking anything else up about the game. Please do not spoil things that have no been mentioned in the play through. This is not only for my sake, but for others who might not wanted to be spoiled ahead. Because I'm super excited, there's a chance there will be a ton of updates very soon. I apologize if I am moving too fast for anyone, I'm just super excited to be playing this game! With that out of the way, let the journey begin! Chapter 1 - The Hunt for the Right Path Chapter 2 - Let The Sacred Flame Guide Your Path
  19. Hi Everyone! After much twiddling of the thumbs I finally decided to break out of the solitude of running through different games in the series and partake in the community. I was also inspired to start my first let's play series Looking forward to being part of this community, especially as FE16 looms on the horizon
  20. I apologize if this is considered straight spam, but I found out an old high school friend who teaches in japan and mostly speaks japanese, has been playing the japanese version and translating as he goes. I don't think he promote himself and this seemed like something people here might be interested in.
  21. Hey everyone! This is Tenders from Games with Tenders, a YouTube channel dedicated to fire emblem. My first video went up today! I am doing an iron man run of PoR. Check it out!
  22. Hi everybody! My name's Kyle McCarley, and I'm the new voice of Alm. If you're familiar with my work as 9S in NieR: Automata, you may be aware of the fact that I streamed my playthrough of the game on my Twitch channel. Starting on Tuesday 5/30 at 7:00pm Pacific, I'll be doing the same thing with Shadows of Valentia. Hope to see some of you then!
  23. As some of you may already have seen, I asked for some tips for an FE7 Ironman playthrough on here that I was planning to do on YouTube, and here it is! Part 1: Lyn Mode - Prologue: Rules: ► Standard Ironman rules: no resets, no restarts, no do-overs. If someone dies, they're dead forever. ► LORDS CLAUSE: If a Lord dies, I'll restart the chapter and the game will continue, but a character will be chosen to be sacrificed in their place - choices will be included in a poll on here, YouTube and Twitter so that you viewers can decide who that should be. ► You're free to discuss anything but please no spoilers for Fire Emblem Conquest or Revelations - I've pretty much finished Birthright, but I've still not started the other two! As I'm starting from a fresh game on the Wii U Virtual Console, I'll be playing on Lyn Easy Mode (the forced tutorial) and Eliwood Normal Mode, and I'll be following the story but have battle animations turned off until Eliwood's Mode (unless requested otherwise by popular demand). I'm planning to record videos on a chapter by chapter basis, but for longer chapters I'll split them up into Part 1, Part 2 etc. if they're going to be longer than 30 minutes. I should hopefully have videos uploaded on a daily to every-two-days basis (it depends on what our channel's schedule is like, we're currently playing through the Dark Souls 3 Ashes of Ariandel DLC as well). Hope you're looking forward to it as much as I am! Archive of episodes:
  24. That's the deal, folks. In this hip, cool and positively fly thread, you get two Let's Plays for the price of one! Join Elieson (that's me) and that other guy, Jedi (that's not me), as we struggle to play this totally decent and well-worth-the-time SNES-style tower climb JBeat 'Em Up with style, grace, and a passable amount of attitude. Here's the quick and easy rundown, if you wanna follow our playthroughs but don't quite know what the game is. What kind of game is Ys Origins? Well buckaroo, it's a JRPG Beat Em Up on Steam, that plays like a Playstation-era hack n' slash. Run around, smackity smacking things up with your magic spells or battle axe, use skills to blow things up faster, and do some puzzle solving and gear upgrading while you're at it. The pace of the game is relatively quick, and the bosses of the game are a rare challenge for even experienced gamers. It's got pretty standard SFX, but the music is a real treat. If anything, this is one of those games that you should definitely try, if you enjoy the genre to some degree. It doesn't require immense skill, and doesn't have a super steep learning curve. Why are you both playing it? I'm playing Yunica's story, and Jedi's playing Hugo's story. The game lets you start with one of two characters, and you unlock more as you beat the game. We'll worry about them later, but each character has a unique enough story to warrant their own playthrough. Jedi and I kinda wanted to do a collaborative effort, and this game's been on my backlog for years. Blazer actually gave me the game as a gift, and I promised him I'd do a Let's Play of it, to show my appreciation for him buying me this game. Talk about late, but I'm finally doing it. Jedi's on his way to become a Pokémon Streaming Master, so this'll be good for his reception, and just be overall fun for the both of us. There's a bunch of difficulties. What are you guys doing? For the sake of simplicity, we're both doing Normal, which is effectively the 3/5 star difficulty. What's special about your runs then? I'm playing blindly, and Jedi's playing through after knowing pretty well what the game has to offer. He beat it once, I'm sure of that. Probably more times...who knows! Ask him! He's the whiz here! [insert Other Question Here]. Just ask it! [spoiler=Yunica Story Episodes (Elieson)] [spoiler=Hugo Story Episodes (Jedi)]
  25. EDIT: I have officially retired from making let's plays! If any of the images are broken, please post on this thread or PM me, and I'll see if I can do anything about it. So, I was recently informed that apparently, some of my older let's plays are getting harder to find. I keep a list in my signature, but it's constantly getting longer, and bulkier, and I've had to de-link some due to URL limits. So! Here it is! An official list, with retrospective commentary, collecting links to all my LPs in one place. Also, to anyone who doesn't know about my LPs: I like to do screenshot playthroughs of Fire Emblem ROMhacks... I mean...Fan Projects! I started my first LP, FE7 Chaos Mode, on September 17 2014 (eg: A Long Time Ago), and just sort of... never stopped doing let's plays. And that's how I got to where I am today! Not really anywhere in particular! THE OFFICIAL LIST OF ALL OF MY LET'S PLAY THREADS, IN ORDER OF RECENCY: FE7 Chaos Mode: The later levels got a touch difficult and tactics like this may be required. LENGTH: Quite Long STATUS: Finished START DATE: Sep. 17 2014 END DATE: Jan. 9 2015 My very first let's play, and the one that started it all! I was still trying to "find my style", so to speak, but I still think it turned out really well. If you want to read all my stuff, I would definitely suggest starting here. FE7 Chaos Mode was an interesting hack and definitely a good one for a first LP, even though there were about 8 other people also playing it at the time. Road to Ruin: My favorite levels were when I could control generics. Things got crazy fun. LENGTH: Medium STATUS: Finished for now START DATE: Nov. 13 2014 END DATE: Dec. 3 2014 Road to Ruin was a good let's play of a neat hack, which at the time was new and cool. It's a pity Road to Ruin as a project seems to have been abandoned, since it had so much going for it. Still, I think this is one of my better let's plays. NOTE: "Finished for now" means that the LP thread could be revived from the dead if the hack I played is updated with new chapters! Corrupt Theocracy: Just enjoying the brilliant story and characterization. LENGTH: Very Long STATUS: Finished START DATE: Dec. 8 2014 END DATE: Feb. 11 2015 Corrupt Theocracy is probably my most interesting let's play. I think it's one of, if not the, best and most hilarious Let's Plays here. At the same time, however, I took a rather negative attitude towards the whole thing and kind of acted like a jerk throughout. So, I would like to apologize for that. It was if anything one of my most popular screenshot runs, climbing very high up on the most viewed/replied columns for this entire subforum. Elibian Nights: What else could I use to describe it? LENGTH: 3 millimeters STATUS: Did it even start? START DATE: Dec. 26 2014 END DATE: Dec. 26 2014 The beta of the full version of Elibian Nights was released! But... it was super buggy... so I decided to put the LP on hold for a few days while it was all fixed. ...Was it ever fixed?? I haven't been keeping track of the thread... either way, I didn't come back to it and may never will. Death or Glory: Probably one of the darkest stories in FE hacking. LENGTH: Medium STATUS: Finished for now START DATE: Jan. 26 2015 END DATE: Feb. 16 2015 Like Road to Ruin, Death or Glory was a very good hack, and I think this turned out to be a good LP, even if not a particularly memorable one. A quick note, I transcribe all dialogue in the hacks that I LP, and generally, this means you'll get to see the hack's whole story. Death or Glory has a very good story, and so that really helped make the playthrough interesting. Markyjoe's Hacks: The hacks made me commit many crimes against humanity. I am not sure if I will ever recover. LENGTH: Long-Ish STATUS: Finished START DATE: Feb. 16 2015 END DATE: Apr. 4 2015 I called the thread "All of Markyjoe's crap", which was intended to be funny, but looking back, it was a really a rather presumptuous title. It was only, like, 70% crap. I think this thread turned out well, particularly due to Markyjoe popping in and giving lots of entertaining and insightful commentary as to the level design. I initially planned to only play 5 hacks (Old Fire Mumblem, Tactician Hell, New Fire Mumblem, Super Hard Lyn Mode, and Chronicles of Lussaria) but was later convinced to play 2 more (Corruption of Roy, a ragefest submission, and Project Shoeshine as well). All of them are in the thread. The Rolling Request Thread: (TOTAL) LENGTH: Extremely Long STATUS: On a maybe-permanent hiatus Finished START DATE: Apr. 2 2015 HIATUS END DATE: Nov. 30 2015 I was faced with a quandary: There are a lot of little hacks out there I wanted to play, but I couldn't flood the forums and make a thread for every last one of them! And that's how this thread was born. It went on for a super-long time and I played a ton of hacks throughout, and I think it was fun for everyone. After a while, though, I stopped it because I was quite simply running out of little hacks to play, and I wanted to focus more on some of the major, longer hacks. Still! There's lots to read and enjoy, if you want! ALL THE LPs CONTAINED WITHIN: The Reckoning: Original character Do not steal LENGTH: Medium STATUS: Canceled/Finished START DATE: July 6 2015 END DATE: Aug. 2 2015 The Reckoning was a hack that was initially removed from Serenes Forest due to what was straight-up sprite theft from other creators. I managed to download it before it was removed, and I thought it would be fun to play through it. I was wrong. We got pretty far, but eventually I just stopped because I had lots of better hacks to move on to. You can read through it if you want but it's nothing particularly special. GhebFE: How the creator made this hack. LENGTH: Too Long STATUS: Finished START DATE: Aug. 3 2015 END DATE: Mar. 25 2016 GhebFE... well, being completely honest, it's probably going to be pretty funny to you viewers, but for me, I can remember this with nothing other than regret. The hack is vulgar, it is rude, filled with inappropriate jokes that mean you probably shouldn't read it if you're 8, and you might choke on the tears of pain i cry while trying to play it. Fire Emblem Requiem: Running theme: Cowardly Bosses LENGTH: Quite Long STATUS: Finished START DATE: Apr. 3 2016 END DATE: Feb. 19 2017 Requiem was the very last hack I played (or, at least, the last LP that finished), and was a good note to end on. The hack had good gameplay and a good story, and was all-around a pleasant experience. I would recommend playing it yourself if you don't want to read an LP of it. FE8: HELLA AWESOME LIGHTNING BOOTS: Imagine FE8 but with the units like this LENGTH: Medium STATUS: Canceled START DATE: May 2 2016 END DATE: September 6 2016 It was regular FE8, except with the units all having their classes, stats, and recruitment order shuffled. The plan was for me and many other LPers to play it at the same time, butt I was in a period of very slow updates. Trying to split my limited time between this and Requiem was killing me, and the other LPers had finished by the time I was nearing halfway through. In the end, I canceled it so I could devote more time to Requiem - a decision much agreed upon by my readers. You can read what I did do, or, if you want a full let's play, one of the full threads is here. By Mr. Night! And... that's everything! ...Yup, that's all my FE screenshot LPs! There's nothing more! Before I go, I'd just like to thank all of you viewers out there! You're the reason I do all this, so thank you for all your comments, support, criticism and whatever else. I hope to continue doing great LPs in the future! Also... could you all do me one more favor? If there's a problem in any of my LPs, like, images breaking, or a link isn't working, or whatever, post about it here. That way, we don't need to necro-post anything! One last thing! I'm not quite happy with some of my screenshots right now. I feel like they could be better. If while reading through my LPs, if you find a screenshot of mine that better emphasized the hack in question, let me know!
