  1. I have completed my Revelations pairings and would now like to know which of my kids should be paired with one another or if some should just be completely left out to be a solo galeforce assassins. Your suggestions should have a reason behind the pairings along with the build the pairings should be (i.e: A nohrian trust build, dodge build, galeforce taker build, go wild with your imagination because there are probably plenty other builds out there). Also would appreciate if you went into depth and gave me the whole skillset rather than just name a build as i'm not that experienced in this in the first place. Without further ado, here is the list of kids I need help pairing and optimizing: (I'll also be leaving the class/es that i'll be making each of my kids but feel free to suggest a different class if you feel necessary) Elise!Ophelia - Witch Orochi!Rhajat - Witch Oboro!Sophie - Paladin or Hero Rinkah!Caeldori - General, Great knight or Falcon Knight (Has S rank with Ignatius) Setsuna!Dywer - Master ninja (Has A+ rank with Asugi) Nina!Kana - Witch Kaze!Shigure - Swordsmaster or Master Ninja (If I want him as a Swordsmaster I need to make him A+ with Hisame) Selena!Hisame - Master of Arms, Hero or Blacksmith Felicia!Forrest - Strategist or Sorc Charlotte!Siegbert - Berserker, Hero or Paladin Hinoka!Mitama - Dread Fighter Camilla!Velouria - Wolfssenger Nyx!Nina - Adventurer or Onmyoji Mozu!Kiragi - Sniper or Kinshi knight Effie!Percy - Hero, Wyvern Lord or Berserker Beruka!Ignatius - General Azura!Midori - Master Ninja Kagero!Shiro - Spear Master Peri!Soleil - Paladin or Hero Hana!Selkie - Nine-Tails Sakura!Asugi - Dark Falcon
  2. Should PvP be available as a mode in this game? PvP was a fun feature in Fates outside of the main campaign, besides the alarming amount of hackers online. It would be fun seeing it return. Just hopefully there's not much hackers if there's ever a mode of it.
  3. So I'm almost done with Birthright (Chapter 23 to be exact) and I want to try PVP soon. I don't have access to the DLC but I want to boost everybody's relevant stats to the max. Sadly I've yet to find any current chapters with good stat item enemies. In Awakening I could get them almost guaranteed from Fighters / Beserker risen battles. Was I just really lucky in Awakening or has anyone found a good chapter to grind them on (Reminder I'm on chapter 23). Any good feedback would be appreciated!!
  4. Are you disgusted by the number of Midoris you see while playing online? Does the incessant grind to perfect your teams get tiring and ever quell your desire to play? Does seeing the same team formats over and over drive you to the brink of insanity? --- What if there was a Fire Emblem community eager to improve the PvP aspect of Fire Emblem Fates that also welcomed casual play, competitive play and diversity in team building? What if you could actually win prizes for playing? What if this was a place that catered to players from North America AND Europe? Does such a place even exist? It does! Introducing: Fire Emblem Fates: Tournaments! Hey everyone! I’m Delta, a moderator over at Fire Emblem Fates Tournaments: a community where we strive make the online battling aspect of Fates as fun and as fair as possible! Unfortunately, as Standard Fates PvP is so unbalanced, we try to make it more appealing to play by limiting some common and overly powerful sets, along with engaging our users through hosting standard tournaments, running gimmicky/theme based tournaments, and having some real prizes up for grabs! At Fire Emblem Fates: Tournaments, we strive to make PvP appealing to players of all types and keep the community engaged. We are a mix of casual and competitive players with differing levels of experience and skill in Fire Emblem. In one way or another, we help each other out -- and are completely willing to! And aside from Fire Emblem, we have different interests as well: Fanart, Smash, other video games, music, you name it! We try not to only limit ourselves to Fire Emblem just because of who we are as a subreddit -- we play other games on the side as a community as well, so feel free to participate and get to know everyone! Most of our discussion happens on our Discord server, where you can talk with other players, request battles, discuss team building and more! This is also the best place to head to if you have any questions that you need answered right away -- there should always be someone available to help you out! And finally, our subreddit is where any updates and important information can be found. If you're looking for a list of rules for tournaments, team-building resources, tournament date schedules, etc, you'll be able to find it there! You can also post there if you have anything to say regarding opinions and anything else! In terms of how our battling plays out, players participate in seasons. In these seasons, we hold tournaments with varying battle formats such that players earn invitations to a grand championship tournament - where large prizes are up for the taking! I’m going to go through our battle formats, rulesets and prizes and how they all work, so let’s get right in! Seasons Near the beginning of each month, a new season will start with various tournaments to enter throughout. Entering these tournaments may earn players real, modest cash prizes and invitations to enter the championship tournament at the end of the season -- where top players earn even greater prizes! All of our tournaments showcase varying themes and rulesets to encourage diversity in team-building and playstyles, so that tournaments never grow stale! A season typically lasts three months to host six tournaments: two per month, with two weeks to prepare. One Prize Tournament and one Free Tournament are held per month. Prize Tournaments use the Core or Eternal Rulesets while Free Tournaments utilize Casual or Gimmick Rulesets -- which are all explained in greater detail below (rules, etc). Championship tournaments showcase at the end of each season, with larger prizes in play for the top 4 players. Our Eternal ruleset is for players seeking to go all out through grinding, our Core ruleset is meant for players looking to go into a competitive scene with team-building diversity, and our Casual ruleset is meant for players just looking to have fun (without so much of a focus on grinding)! Take note of these rulesets: they’ll be some important terminology for our next little bit. Prizes What ARE our prizes, you say? Well, smaller prize tournaments held during a season are distributed either cash or gift cards with a monetary value that can be used towards nearly anything of your choice! In order to receive a cash prize, you must have a PayPal account in which we can send it to. If not, alternatively we can send gift card codes! (eShop, iTunes, etc.) NOTE: For EU, we’ll be resorting to PayPal only until we can find an EU moderator that can potentially cover the EU region (for eShop codes, gift cards, etc.) If you’d like to help out, please let us know! Tournaments Our tournaments have different formats depending on the ruleset used for that particular tournament. Casual and Gimmick tournaments use Swiss Pairings to determine matchmaking. This format matches players by their records throughout the tournament so that they’re able to compete against opponents with similar skill levels. This format also runs pretty similarly to Round Robin, so everyone gets a chance to fight against more people, and overall just have a fun time! Eternal tournaments use Single Elimination to determine who wins and who loses, quickly. This is to simulate a high-risk, high-reward setting as these tournaments host cash prizes, and so players can finish quickly and prepare for future tournaments. Finally, Core and Championship tournaments play with a combination of Swiss Pairings and Single Elimination: Swiss Pairings are played at the beginning so that players aren’t completely out of the game due to bad RNG. This way, players still have a chance to make it to the top 8 players who then advance to the second phase of the tournament: Single Elimination. From here, it’s all or nothing. One mistake can cost you, so risks just may need to be taken. Who will make it to the top? Let’s find out together! Battling Formats: Eternal, Core, Casual and Gimmick Tournaments From the experience of playing Standard PvP, it seems that the community is split into three different categories in terms of play style, or how players want to play: Players that love to grind, have many options within moderation, play the most broken strategies, and analyze the metagame with a paywall (access to DLC) Players that seek to transition into a semi-competitive format with less grinding and more creative team-building Players who want to play freely without having to constantly grind their teams to perfection, especially for new players who have just entered the Fire Emblem series through Awakening or Fates Therefore, we have three battle formats to cater to these three types of players: The Eternal Battle Format, the Core Battle Format and the Casual Battle Format. Eternal Ruleset The Eternal Battle Format appeals to players who are looking to go nearly all out! This battle format looks to bring out the most in competition as possible, with rules that change infrequently. It is tailored for players that enjoy grinding, have many options to choose from, look to go through the best possible strategies within the limits of the rules, and deeply analyze the meta from access to DLC. Specific Rules are as follows: No Forges greater than +3. Weapons with the Brave property may not be forged, such as the Brave Sword, Lance, Axe, Snake Spirit, etc. Lightning is excluded from this rule. Tonics are allowed, but Rainbow Tonics are not. A max of 4 boots may be used on any team. No Einherjar or bond units. Pavise and Aegis may not be used in tandem, including through Nohrian Trust. No Warp or Lethality. No Castle Maps, Valley Settlement, or Fort Dragonfall. A maximum of two flying units per team. Songstress class is banned. DLC is limited to what is available in NA or EU (depending on the region). Only skills a unit may get legally are allowed (consult here) You may bring a max of 1 Rescue staff. Rescue staves are not allowed on Falcon Knights A max of two Replicate units allowed per team. A max of two Nohrian Trust units allowed per tem. Galeforce may not be combined with any combination Life and Death, Aggressor and Spendthrift more than once. This means you can only use Galeforce in combination with one of these skills, not two or three. NOTE: Quick Draw and the six Faire skills do not apply to this rule. Core Ruleset The Core Battle Format appeals to players who are familiar with the Fire Emblem series and are looking to transition to a format with Eternal rules, but are still looking for creativity in teams and fair games. Though this format appears to be casual, it’s deceivingly deep! Specific Rules are as follows: Parent units may only use Heart Seal classes/skills Child units may only use classes/skills from their two default sets Players may only forge shop weapons with unlimited shop inventory up to +3 No DLC skills/classes No Nohrian Trust Corrin/Corrin kids All other Eternal Rules Casual Ruleset Finally, the Casual Battle Format appeals to players who are just looking to have a good time! This battle format provides a fun atmosphere for players of all styles to play, and focuses more on community engagement rather than competitive engagement. The Casual Battle Format is recommended for players who are just starting out with the series and/or just looking to have a fun time! Specific Rules are as follows: Parent units only use Heart Seal classes/skills No Child Units No Forging any weapons No DLC skills/classes All other Eternal Rules Gimmick Ruleset / Tournaments Just as implied, Gimmick Tournaments have a certain theme or rules in order to make some interesting team-building ideas, such as our upcoming 3v3 Royals and Retainers Gimmick Tournament and past 3v3 Beaststones and Dragonstones Gimmick Tournament! Gimmick Tournament rules include all other Casual and Eternal rules, and a few special rules depending on the tournament, which normally won’t exceed one or two. --- Introduction Tournament If you are interested in the sub, we will be having our introductory tournament on Saturday, July 23rd, 2016. This tournament will use our Core ruleset, and is a 5v5 Tournament! Specific rules such as times and the like will be posted on the subreddit and Discord channel soon -- so you’ll still have time to prepare your teams! --- And that’s all! If you have any questions, please feel free to post on this thread and even leave some feedback! I’ll try my best to answer. 5. So I want to do some new builds for PvP. As for now I recently acquires a bond unit with Fiery Blood and +SPD/-DEF mods, so this is my current planned build: Phoenix Class: Elite Ninja Boots:2 PS: Fiery Blood -Galeforce -Awakening -Lucky Seven -Vantage -Vengeance All stats are going to be maxed since statue bond unit abuse exist. The current goal of the set is to kill 2 unit with Sacrifical Knife so I am at %40 to trigger Fiery Blood, Vantage, Awakening and stack damage with Vengeance, Lucky Seven stacks with Awakening effectively giving me 50+hit and 50+avoid so I am able to be an effective dodgetank and deal with breakers if I need to. Others ways exist such as attacking on purpose at close range to go down to less than %50 an ending with Kagero Dart since it gives a +20 avoid. What do you think about the overall set? Dunno if I should change something. The other currently build I am aiming for is an Icy Blood, since it took me like 3 consecutive days to obtain the Fiery Blood BU as I wanted I may just use Flora instead, of course maybe also logbook abuse. Though currently I think I may go for something like this: Flora Boots:? PS: Icy Blood -Wary Fighter -Counter -Countermagic -Warp -Replicate Or something like that. If someone has an interesting build aside from Zerk Rush spam and you dont mind sharing it please tell me.
  6. Attention, all NA and EU players! Hey everyone! I’m Delta, a moderator over at Fire Emblem Fates: Tournaments. If you’re wondering what that is, Fire Emblem Fates: Tournaments is a small community of players interested in playing Fire Emblem PvP, with balanced and fair rules to make it more fun to play! Saturday, August 27th, 2016 is the date where we begin our casual tournament: The 3v3 Royals and Retainers Gimmick Tournament! As implied in the name, this gimmicky tournament has teams consisting of 3 units -- one royal from either Hoshido or Nohr, and their two retainers -- who battle it out to make it to the top! As this is our first gimmick tournament, casual rules will apply: Units will only be allowed to use classes available to them via Heart Seal, and there will be no forging and no DLC classes/skills allowed. However, with this being a gimmick tournament, we'll have a few gimmick rules as well! This will encourage some more creative team-building and allow everyone to have a great time! We'll reveal said gimmick rules sometime during the week! Season 1 Various tournaments are played through a season, which all have different rulesets from time to time. There are about two tournaments per month, with 2 weeks in between each one to give players time to breathe and prepare for their next tournament. Playing in these tournaments invites players to the grand Championship Tournament, where we’ll have actual cash prizes/gift cards/eShop cards for the top players! Here’s the schedule regarding Season 1: Month 1: Prize Tourney: 8/13 (ETERNAL) - Qualifier to Championship Free Tourney: 8/27 (GIMMICK - 3v3 Royals and Retainers) Month 2: Prize Tourney: 9/10 (CORE) - Qualifier to Championship Free Tourney: 9/24 (GIMMICK - 5v5 Capture Units) Month 3: Prize Tourney: 10/8 (ETERNAL) - Qualifier to Championship Prize Tourney: 10/23 (CORE CHAMPIONSHIP) - Payout ($20, $10, $5, $5) --- Gimmick tournaments do not give an invitation to the Championship tournament. It's purely for fun! However, by participating in the upcoming Eternal tournaments or Core tournament, you will earn an invitation to the Championship Core Tournament at the end of the season, where there will be cash pay outs depending on your placement! If you place high within these qualifying tournaments, you will also earn byes for the first part of the Championship tournament! As NA and EU are unable to play together due to region-locking, unfortunately, we have a separate season for EU players too. We would love to have an epic EU season plus an awesome a NA season as well. --- The gimmick tournament will start on Saturday, August 27th, 2016 at 1 PM EST, and team submissions will end on the same day at 11 AM CST. This is to ensure that the moderation team has enough time to check over everyone’s team for legality, and so players have a chance to do some last minute preparations. After you submit a team, please join our Discord and Reddit page to see all the latest news and updates! We will have our sign-up page along with more specifics, up during the week on our subreddit and Discord chat! If you’re still a bit confused or want some more information, please check out our informational post and feel free to ask questions! We hope to see you soon! --- Please follow and join our: Twitter! Next week on Saturday, August 13th, 2016, marks the starting tournament of our first season: our 5v5 Eternal Tournament! Eternal tournaments are tournaments with a ruleset that favors players who like to go all out with their teams, finding the best strategies through all options legally available, and utilizing DLC options. 8. EDIT: Please read the current ruleset and give feedback on it. If there are no objections, the rules will be adopted as they currently are. If you have any ideas or improvements, suggest them in a thread or a PM to me. Following the discussion started in this thread, there have been a few suggestions for a Smogon-style PvP community for FE Fates. Of course, we'll likely never reach the same proportions, but I figure that in the name of fun and sportsmanship, we can try! Either way, what we'd need for this is a) a set of common rules that everyone agrees to (a few ideas for which I will list below, and which you are welcome to make suggestions for!) and b) some sort of way for the Fates PvP community to congregate easily. For this, I'd personally suggest Discord, which I've been using with plenty of my friends for various gaming purposes already. It's a free program that allows for both text-based chat and voice chat, and it'd be the best option I know of - unless someone has a better suggestion? Either way, the following collapse box contains the current draft of the rules, with comments regarding their respective intention and possible exceptions. [spoiler=Current Ruleset] Posted by Chromagna on page 3, post #50: 1- No multiples of the same unit. 2- No multiples of the skills replicate, galeforce, warp or nohrian trust and no more than one of these skills per unit. 3- Galeforce with both spendthrift and life and death are banned. 4- No more than four breaker skills and no more than one of these per unit. 5- No statues. (They can be broken and placed before and after for no cost so it is not detrimental.) 6- No forged weapons. 7- No tonics or stat boosting items. 8- Only two uses of rescue, hexing rod, freeze and other state altering/position changing staves may be used. 9- All bond, einherjar, amiibo and prison units are banned. (Exceptions could be made if both players agree on it.) 10- Boots are banned. (Still undecided.) 11- Handicap is turned off. (Can be altered if players agree.) 12- No hacked or illegitimate items, stats, skills, characters etc. that cannot be gained through regular play. Anything unavailable through normal play is banned outright. (Exceptions shall be made for non-battle changing hacks such as aptitude on first gen units or resource hacks.) This ruleset seems usable, and I would refine it into the following with just a few questions open before we can have our first official ruleset: 0) As long as both players and any other parties involved agree, any rule can change at any time. 1) No more than one of the same class. // Exception for classes such as Kitsune and Wolfskin, as those are limited anyway? 2) No more than two classes from the S-tier. // I personally think this rule is a good idea, but I'd really like feedback. I've yet to see anyone comment on it. 3) No multiples of the skills Galeforce, Warp, Replicate and Nohrian Trust, and no more than one of these skills on the same unit. 4) Galeforce may not be combined with Spendthrift and Life and Death at the same time. // Possibly disallow the combination of these skills entirely? 5) No more than four breaker skills per team, and no more than one per unit. 6) Statues are banned. They can be rebuilt at no cost after being destroyed, so no need to worry about wasting DVP. 7) No forged weapons. 8) No tonics or other stat-boosting items. // Should this also apply to the unique weapons, i.e. the Yato, Siegfried, Raijinto, Brynhildr and Fujin Yumi? 9) Only two uses of Freeze, Entrap, Rescue and Hexing Rod. // Should we also include Enfeeble and Silence? And would it maybe make more sense to just allow one full rod/staff of them? That would be 4 uses for Freeze, Enfeeble and Silence, 3 for Hexing Rod and 2 for Entrap and Rescue. 10) No bond units, amiibo, prisoners or Einherjar. If the unit has a shield symbol, it's not allowed. 11) No boots. // Under consideration: allowing them up to a certain limit (likely 4). 12) Handicap is turned off. 13) Skill combinations, weapons and other items gained through hacking (such as Nohrian Trust on non-Corrin 1st gen units) are banned outright. An exception can be made for non-battle affecting hacks, such as Aptitude on 1st gen units. [spoiler=Tier List]This tier list currently only serves as an example and will be expanded and revised as people input their thoughts and opinions. The tier list is UNDER CONSTRUCTION S-tier (God tier) Master Ninja Swordmaster Lodestar Witch A-tier ("Extremely good" tier) Dark Flier Kinshi Knight Falcon Knight Wyvern Lord Berserker Sniper Songstress B-tier ("Usable" tier) General Paladin Sorcerer Dark Knight Adventurer Dread Fighter C-tier ("Useless" tier) Great Knight Vanguard Mechanist Ballistician If you have ideas, comments or suggestions for the current or new rules, or any other things regarding a Fates PvP community, please do so! Our primary goal with this is to create a common platform for everyone who wants to do Fates PvP and have fun doing it. ------------------------- Keep an eye on this thread as it will be updated as people participate.
  9. First thin's first. This is my very first topic in Serenes Forest! Glad to be here! Anywho, I have been tryin' to pick a male sword user on my PvP team. Of all the possible sword male sword user classes, only Lodestar and Swordmaster has really stuck out for me. The two classes are really similar and I don't understand if Lodestar is truly suppose'd to be superior in nearly every possible way compare'd to Swordmaster with rather minimal drawbacks of bein' a Lodestar instead. Here's the list of pros and cons and ties that each class that I have came up with. I'm lookin' for an endgame sword user, so all my comparisons have been just base'd off the class's max stats. Swordmaster Pros: +1 Strength, +2 Magic. SLIGHTLY hits harder than Lodestar for any kind of sword. +2 Speed. Unless the foe has a negative max speed mod on a Lodestar/Master Ninja/Fast Class or uses a Steel/Heavy Speed Penalty weapon, then the 2 extra points won't matter much. Higher Critical Rate +2 Resist. That's nice to have but... Swordmaster Cons: -5 HP. Really puts Swordmaster's physical survivability far below average than other sword users. It's low HP also spoils the +2 Resist Swordmaster has over Lodestar in taking magical hits too. -3 Defense. As if -5 HP wasn't bad enough for physical hits. -3 Skill. 32 Skill is pretty good for a high proc chance for skills, but if another class has a better Skill, then the said other class would have a better chance of procs. -7 Luck. Which causes the followin' statements... Lower Hit Rate. 18% can be quite big in some situations, but with already high Hit Rate, would that matter much if at all? Lower Avoid. It's by 0.5%, but it rounds up to 1%. 1% is nothin' worth cryin' over, but it's still a "con" in a comparison. Lower Dodge. It's by 3.5%, and it rounds up to 4%. It's a bigger difference than the Avoid, but 4% is still nigh negleable. Neutral: S-Rank sword rank Movement Swords only Non-mount'd No extra unit type (e.g. Dragon/Beast/Flyer/etc.) Unless I'm missin' anythin' else, I can safely say that Lodestar is a bulkier Swordmaster that might hit negligibly weaker. With such advantages, there shouldn't be much of a reason to choose Swordmaster over Lodestar, right? Any other thoughts would be much appreciate'd! Edit #1: Here's some interestin' numbers in regards to defense and such... http://serenesforest.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=64579&p=4428960 Edit #2: Here's some more number crunch, but most importantly to take from this is the difference +1 or +2 in damage can make. http://serenesforest.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=64579&p=4429784
  10. Hello Serenes Forest, I'd like to get a discussion going about a tier list for classes in Fire Emblem Fates. This is only for Limited Battles because Standard is uncompetitive and kinda gross, and obviously the royals are the greater characters because they have cooler weapons. Anyways, the way I'm formatting this tier list is based on how risky it is to use a class vs how rewarding it is (not rewarding as in personal reward but how often you'll win with it.) Tier 1 Low Risk, High Reward Wolfssegner Swordmaster Falcon Knight Tier 1' High Risk, High Reward Master Ninja Songstress Maid/Butler Dread Fighter Tier 2 Low Risk, Decent Reward Sniper Paladin Nine-Tails Sorcerer Malig Knight Dark Knight Hoshido/Nohr Noble Kinshi Knight Tier 2' High Risk, Decent Reward Berserker Basara Lodestar Spear Master General Bow Knight Tier 3 Low Risk, Low Reward Great Knight Oni Cheiftain Adventurer Hero Tier 3' High Risk, Low Reward (AKA utter trash) Merchant Preistess Ballistician Blacksmith Onmyoji Unranked I have never used nor seen these be used, and I can't make a judgement purely by observation Strategist Witch Dark Falcon Vanguard Great Lord Grandmaster Wyvern Lord Master of Arms Great Master Mechanic Again, this is only a preliminary list at the moment, and I'd like to get discussion going about some of the placements. Keep in mind that all of characters likely have a niche in one way or another, but that doesn't automatically make them good. I'm willing to move just about any class in a heartbeat if someone makes a good enough argument for the movement. I will be keeping a log of all changes in the OP.
  11. This forum is for any and all over powered builds for pvp to make the best teams possible
  12. UNLEASH IT

    PvP

Did my first PvP battle today. Got gangbanged by a bunch of flying chickens. Is this common?
  13. I'm planning on running Kanna, Kamui, Flora, Midoriko and Kaze. Post your ideas for a team if you aren't trying to keep your tactics a secret.
  14. I haven't seen a thread like this and the regular Unit Optimization thread is super long I didn't bother to look for an avatar section of it. Seeing as how there are so many options for the avatar's optimization, I figured it made sense to start a new thread. Now, I'm new to PvP and do not yet own the game so my whole build is hypothetical and could really suck when it comes down to it. I like the male avatar quite a bit but I think having two children, while apparently not as good as it was in Awakening, is just too hard to pass up. I'll play both male and female to make a final call, but Kamui (+Spd/-Mag) (maybe + Skl?) Dark Blood Growth HP 60 Str 60 Mag 25 Skl 55 Spd 65 Lck 60 Def 45 Res 25 Not bad. Dark Blood Max Stats HP 60 Str 32 Mag 28 Skl 30 Spd 35 Lck 29 Def 29 Res 30 Also not bad. Not sure if I'd end in this class or not, but definitely a sword wielding class. Galeforce Aether Copycat Puppet Hoshido (for Aether, admittedly not the best skill choice but idk what else to do, maybe Dragon Fang or Draconic Curse) Swordfaire Most likely marrying Femui to Zero and Mamui to Camilla. Let me know what you think, suggestions, criticisms, your own builds, anything.
  15. I just ordered a copy of FE:If (Hosido), and should be getting it within a few days. I was a big fan of online battles back with Shadow Dragon, and I'm hoping to jump right into preparing a competitive team. Keeping in mind that I'll only have Hosido access, I'm very curious to hear what classes/characters/skills/weapons are recommended for online play. As a side note, I'm thinking of making my Avatar a magic class. Is there any suggestions for what magic classes work well online?
  16. Alright so there have been quite a few changes to how critical work in this game. I'll just list them out and then talk a little about how this affects gameplay. 1) Luck and HP no longer are equal for all classes. This makes it more likely to critical most classes, and even outright OHKO them for not having enough HP. 2) HP growths are much lower this game. Once again, criticals now are much more likely to OHKO in story mode due to this change. 3) Skill now affects critical chance by (Skill-4)/2 = critical stat bonus. This is a slight tweak from awakening, but even tho it seems like a nerf, the next difference changes things even further. 4) 1 Luck = .5 Critical Evade now. Technically... this makes luck both worse and more valuable. It's worse cause it doesn't do as much, but it's more valuable cause now if you don't have high enough luck(ie 4 less than the target's skill), then any weapon has the chance to critical unless you start pairing up. 5) Killing Weapons now do 4x critical damage. 6) While class skills have less options to get your critical up, some personal skills are very strong in the critical department. 7) S rank Classes all get bonuses to criticals except for Maids/Butlers. This makes all these classes very critical based or even anti crit in a couple cases. A couple interesting notes, A) Killing Weapons are extremely strong in story, they make it very likely to have 20%+ critical chance, 4x crits, and only have 5 less hit and 10 less avoid than normal iron weapons. This nearly makes them statistically better than iron, steel, silver, brave, and sometimes warrior weapons in story mode for most cases. B) Certain Builds in PvP are certainly strong, I'm not going to say they are overbearing as I can't comment on that yet, but Arthur is standing around with a 90% chance to crit most classes on player phase when built right. C) This can be pretty scary to some people who hate enemies getting criticals and they may stray away from low luck characters.
  17. (tl:dr if you are having trouble in PvP due to a certain build the enemy has, then come here and explain the issue, and at least I will analyze the situation and try to create the set and how to check it.) Hello everyone, I made this thread to discuss some of the common(and maybe even uncommon) builds present in PvP and what people can do to check them. You don't have to follow my format, but I like organizing information. If someone brings to my attention a new build or check to a build, I'll add that information to the original post so others can see. Copycat will not be listed in the skills section, as literally any set at least WANTS Copycat. 18. (if tl:dr, then just read the rules, pros, cons of each ruleset and then vote) I have created 3 distinct PvP rules that are appealing to most individuals. If anyone wants to give feedback, I encourage them to post below. I will only change a rule in each ruleset if someone proves that specific rule is outright toxic, useless, or needs tweaking. No Rules(Maximizes Freedom) 1) No Rules. Just like it states, there are no limitations. Most people will probably use these rules just cause they are the simplest and anything is allowed. In a meta like this, everyone has the capability to ORKO through damage, skills, lethality, criticals, and copycat shenanigans and tanking isn't even possible other than the General taking two rounds instead of one like other units. Pros: Simple Rules. Fast matches. Doesn't interfere with single player options. Cons: Unbalanced. Favors aggro way too much. The game becomes a movement war. Balanced(Maximizes Player Interaction) 1) No Boots. 2) No Forged Weapons. 3) No Copycat. 4) No Brave Weapons. Alright, so I just need to say it. Brave weapons break the game by allowing good sets to be broken sets. You can ORKO every unit not specifically made to counteract Brave Weapon ORKOs. This limits options and favors just ORKOing instead of trying to interact with the opponent, but you don't want to get rid of all these lovely options(well except Copycat, that's broken by itself). Instead, you just get rid of what they all have in common. For those that are worried, you can still ORKO even generals, but specific builds are needed and these builds have counters. This allows you to use tanky classes to well.... tank. And yes, Lightning(the tome) isn't banned. This gives mages a favorable niche while not making them overpowered(as they are quite squishy and Lightning is quite weak without being able to forge). You can still counteract this strategy with the right build. Forged weapons are banned for a couple reasons. A) You aren't favoring player interaction by encouraging them to grind just to keep up with others. B) There is absolutely no opportunity cost to forging except time. Forged weapons are strictly better than unforged. C) They push critical builds over the top. They will start ORKOing too many units with even limited forged weapon. Boots are banned for very similar reasons. A) It's just favorable to have more boots, which isn't adding to player interaction. B) Boots affect different classes(and characters), well, differently. Flying units(and Takumi) are favored to use boots more than non-flying. Finally Copycat is broken, It's a free action somewhere else on the map. Allowing copycat is saying you require every character to have copycat, and that adds nothing to the game. Pros: Simple rules. Balanced Gameplay. Aggro and Defensive Play are equal in power. Cons: Can't use a few of the fun options. Games may take longer than you like. Interferes with how you play single player. And the final Ruleset: Odin's Sphere(Maximizes Interest) 1) One Boot per team allowed. 2) Forged Weapons only allowed to +1. 3) Copycat restricted to one unit. 4) Only one Brave Weapon(can be +1) per team allowed. So, you want broken stuff but still want balance(and maybe you want Odin's ability to actually do something in a semi balanced environment), then these are the rules for you. Sure you can ORKO like before with one unit, but it's painting a giant target on that unit's back. These rules give boots, copycat, and brave weapons an opportunity cost when attaching them to a unit, but still allows you to use them. Pros: Semi balanced gameplay. Favors Aggro, but defensive play is still a good option. Favors a faster paced match. Cons: Rules are somewhat complicated in comparison. Interferes with single player slightly.
  19. Alright, so I wanted to ask the community what they think would be healthy for PvP. Everyone has their own definition for what's healthy for a PvP community, so I want your answer. There will be bias shown in my explanation for why they are in the polls, but please think for yourself before answering. Comment about your choices if you want to express your opinion. Lethality: Everyone knows about how Lethality builds feel cheap, but do you think it is healthy for PvP? Extravagance+Line of Death: With two skills, the player can have +20 damage on their turn, thus creating a situation where you can easily OHKO many classes with a high movement class, but do you think it is healthy for PvP? Forged Weapons: Forged Weapons give a significant boost to damage, hitrate, and critical, thus allowing for more situations where you can OHKO the opponent with certain builds. They also favor certain weapons which narrows down variety in weapon choice, but do you think they are healthy for PvP? Character Specific Weapons: These weapons are very powerful compared to base weapons. They are even comparable to S rank weapons in some cases. However, most of them are only available to first generation characters, but do you think they are healthy for PvP? Yato Final: So, let's say you think Character Specific Weapons are okay, but what about Yato Final? This weapon is so strong that even fully forged +7 Silver weapons aren't necessarily better. +4 Str, Spd, Def, Res is very strong advantage on an already excellent blade and makes Kamui undoubtedly the best unit the game, but do you think it is healthy for PvP?
