  1. This has been a long time coming, but we should have a central hub for tourney results, and suggestions etc. Previous Tournaments Return of Serenes Forest Smash - Winner IceSage, so far the only 32 man Serenes Tourney Joined by Fate - Winner Dotty Radiant Confrontation - Winner IceSage Nerf Me To the Moon Wii U - Winner IceSage Nerf Me To the Moon 3DS - Winner Aura Wolf Thracia77Swiss (Swiss styled tourney with a top 6 finale) - Winner Knife Previous Tournaments that stray from the Norm The King of Dankness (Ganondorf Tournament) - Winner Aura Wolf In Progress Tournaments Draft Crews Round Robin Azure Blue World Suggestions Reverse Main Format - Suggested by Jiac & Euklyd. Current Ruleset we are using for main tournaments. Ruleset 3 Stock 8 Minutes Double Elimination. No Customs (barring the small Mii rule at the bottom) Starter Stages Final Destination Battlefield Smashville Town & City Lylat Cruise Counterpick Stages Dreamland 64 Duck Hunt Omega Stages* *In the banning phase, banning Final Destination bans Omegas as well. But as a starter stage, Omega's cannot be chosen regularly SET PROCEDURE Players select characters, tell each other your character of choice -Dishonesty will not be tolerated- if a player wishes, they may opt for a blind pick, in which both players secretly inform a neutral third party of their selection, and that person announces both at the same time First stage is selected according to stage striking. Game is played Counterpicking procedure takes place: Game winner bans 1 stage. This ban is in effect for the following game ONLY. Game loser picks stage from among legal stages. Players/teams may not pick ANY stage they have won on in the set previously except by agreement of the opponent (Stage Clause, also known as Modified Dave's Stupid Rule). Winning player change characters. Losing player may change characters. Next game is played. STAGE STRIKING: Use Game & Watch Hammer (Both players pick G&W and do his side b for the higher number) or flip a coin on Discord. Winner strikes the first stage. Loser then strikes the next two stages. Winner strikes the last one effectively choosing the first stage they play on. (1-2-1) Daves Stupid Rule You may not counterpick to a stage you have won on in the set unless your opponent agrees to it. Gentlemans Rule If you and your opponent agree to it, you may play a nonlegal stage (I.E Midgar,Gamer, etc) or a stage won on by the current player picking (It negates Daves Stupid Rule) Mii's You may make a Mii for tourney play if you so wish, but you can only setup one of each type and you can't switch their movesets after you lock them in. Replays You are to send replays to me (NNID is Jedisupersonic), each match of your sets, no exceptions, however if you do miss replays you won't be penalized, I'll just be disappointed.
  2. http://challonge.com/BWNov2016WiiU1v1 I played as Ike the entire time, it's been awhile since I've been to these but I had a blast, the Bayo/Pacman player I beat, Piff got super salty when I edgeguarded him with a perfect 2 frame eruption on his recovery when he had 40% and I was at like 180% and he died. I beat his Bayo pretty handily aside from a early gimp he did. I played vs a Marth, Bayo/Pac, Mario, Zero Suit Samus and Pikachu I lost to the Mario & Pikachu but it was very close, I may want to look into my potential secondary for something like Pikachu, but I'm pretty confident in my Ike right now, Piff is a PR(Power Ranked) player in Eastern Washington, and I managed to win. Western Washington and Tricities people were there and I did at least beat one of the Tricities people haha. Overall it was a fun time, and I hope I can go again.
  3. So last night, Lord Raven, Batter the Beast, Carmine Sword, General Horace, IceSage, Stardust and I played Smash on Ravens stream, while some people also joined for chatting, such as Refa, and Zerker. This was a blast and there are tons of goofy highlights in these stupid/amazing 4 for alls and team matches. For the first bit it was, Raven, Carmine, Horace and I, which turned into Batter taking Carmines place, and then eventually Stardust and IceSage after doing their matches (they were in the discord chat at the same time) joining in mine and Horaces place. Although there are bits of language (I mean alot btw lmao) and somewhat inappropriate comments, its a blast to watch. We can also use this as a hub for future times when Raven streams this hilarity. It's also long, but you can skim around for goofiness or if you reaaaally have the time I guess. We can also use this thread to announce Smash streams in this vein.
  4. Posted here on Reddit by Freeziebeatz https://www.reddit.com/r/smashbros/comments/5atfsm/an_indepth_116_result_only_based_tier_list/ It goes indepth in terms of pure results, be it placements, good matches etc for the general cast. There is an algorithm even for how it works on the page. The results were thus, stuff like Dark Pit being low is probably because he's mainly used as a counterpick by Pit players, and not alot of people "Solo Main" Dark Pit despite his massive advantage vs Rosalina.
  5. Welcome to the first Crew styled face off in the Serenes Smash Series. Now please bare with me, with the rules and if you have any questions on sign up, please ask. Ruleset - 4 Teams of 5, so we need 20 sign ups. After the sign up process there will be a vote on who the 4 team captains will be, and they will in return draft their teams, after this and after they name their team, we will put this in Round Robin format. - Drafting will be Snake format, but we'll get to that when we get to it. - 3 Stocks per fighter on a team, any stocks you lose in a set with an opponent team are lost permanently in that set and thus you must keep track, so you can SD to match what your actual stock count is in your next match if you happen to win. Say I won my match vs another teams player but I only had 1 stock left, I'd have to SD till I had 1 stock vs their next player. The player waiting for the other to SD must respect this and stay where they start, and do no actions, as to make it a proper "neutral" start like any other match, the SDing player will then take a starting position and the match will proceed. - When two teams face off, they must decide who goes first, sending the message to me either on Discord, SF PM's or Skype, which then I'll announce the two players facing off, then stage striking will begin, via G&W hammer, which in you both select Game & Watch, using his "Judge" ability, whomever gets the highest number, can stage strike first, then the other player strikes 2 stages, the first player will then strike one more, which basically means selection is theirs. After they fight, the losers team must then select who is to go into battle next, along with their counterpick after the winner bans a stage. - - repeat this process until one team has no players remaining; the team left standing is the winner and is awarded as many points as they have remaining stocks The Stages are as follows for this. Final Destination + Omegas Battlefield Dreamland 64 Smashville Town & City - You must stick with one character in a set against another team, you can be a different character versus another team, but you must stick with the one you select against a particular team in that set. - the team with the most points after the round robin is over is the winner; in the case of a tie, a crew battle between the two top teams will decide the winner - Replays will be recorded and sent to me, my NNID is Jedisupersonic if you don't already have it Sign Ups and NNID 1. Which leads us off with Bayonetta Kurogane hasn't updated her data so go off this change list http://smashboards.com/threads/1-1-6-patch-notes-patch-discussion-read-the-first-post-before-replying.436806/ http://kuroganehammer.com/Smash4/Bayonetta for her general info (Image Borrowed from Kurogane Hammer) for a quick visual Bayonetta, the source of much infamy since her debut, having many aerial combos at launch, which could 0-death a significant chunk of the cast if they weren't careful, with several safe lead ins and decent range with her kicks, she was a force to be reckoned with by that alone, add in the dreaded witch time and the fact she has two spikes, and you're in some danger. She has fairly good damage capabilities as well. As of 1.1.6 however she's received several nerfs, Including her hitboxes on several moves, her combo capabilities in general, which make her look rather lackluster currently as opposed to the supposed top tier threat she posed before hand. Now she has a fairly lacking neutral game, due to now having to rely on some of her slower moves, and her safer moves now are harder to land overall. Whats everyone heres opinions on Bayo? Be it on a competitive or even casual standpoint?
  7. Ryo vs Abadango, he forced Aba to change from Mewtwo with Roy, showing there might be depth that some people are unwilling to admit exists https://www.reddit.com/r/smashbros/comments/4xp2ce/ssc_losers_top_24_abadango_vs_ryo/ https://clips.twitch.tv/tourneylocator2/BadHamsterMrDestructoid https://clips.twitch.tv/tourneylocator2/BloodySquirrelBuddhaBar
  8. lmao, so no joke, my friend and I were playing a couple rounds of Smash 4, and I like to go random as he's still trying to come to grips with the game, right. So we pick the stage, and it gives us a tip for Palutena, and I kinda have this weak moment in my brain where I go: "Palutena.. Palutena, Palute- who is Palutena?" So the battle starts, cue her entrance animation, and my mind goes blank so I pause the game and look at him, and he mirrors my look. We both laugh in the moment, because.. Palutena is just so irrelevant in Smash 4. I COMPLTELEY forgot she existed, at all. And I secondary Pit!
  9. As per suggested by Knife, I am trying out the Swiss format of tournaments. For an explaination of what Swiss is, scroll past the rule-set. THE BRACKET Ruleset 3 Stock 8 Minutes Best 2 of 3 5 Round Swiss Tournament No Customs Starter Stages ● Battlefield ● Final Destination ● Smashville ● Dreamland 64 ● Town & City Counterpick Stages ● Duck Hunt ● Lylat Cruise ● Halberd ● Omega Stages* * Treated as Final Destination in banning phase. If Final Destination is banned, Omega Stages are banned and vice versa.** What is a Swiss styled tournament? A swiss tournament, is when the players all go a set number of rounds against certain opponents. No one is eliminated, instead players get points for their performance every round. Those with similar points will face off in the later rounds, the first round will be based on seeds, that Euklyd my second in command so to speak, sets up. The point setups are thus. You get 1 point for winning a match in a set, you get 1 whole point for winning a set. This will result in the winner of a set getting 3 points, but if you manage a win even if you lose the set, you'll still come out of the set with a point to your name. A perfect score would be 15 points. As we are doing 5 rounds. If there is a tie between two people, then we will have a best 3 out of 5 grand finals, if there is more than 2 tied somehow, we will continue with another round, until there is a proper victor The way stage choice works is thus, either both players agree to a stage to start on, or do a method to decide who starts striking stages, my personal suggestion is Game & Watch Hammer, which is when both players pick Game & Watch and use his Side B move and whomever gets a higher number gets the first stage strike. This is also a good way to lag test. The person who strikes first, strikes a stage from the Starter list, then the 2nd person strikes a stage and this continues until only one starter stage left which is the one you both play on Whomever wins a match, can strike 2 stages and the person who lost may select out of the remaining legal stages. There is also something called Dave's Stupid rule, where you cannot counter-pick to a stage you've won on in the set This will keep the strict timelines seen in Joined by Fate (JBF), However since this is Swiss, the time-frames will be somewhat more generous. 4 to 5 days a round Character Changes - While you can change your characters during the set, you must tell your opponent you are switching and who to, as is proper in an official tournament. Unless you 2 agree to be secretive, I don't mind either way There is also the Gentleman's agreement, in which both players can agree to play on a nonlegal stage, this also can override Dave's Stupid Rule Mii Fighters are allowed, but they must be 1111 set, sorry folks. - Not Sure About Replays at this point of time. - Please give me your NNID when you sign up, even if you did previously, just for consistency sake. 11. As per suggested by Knife, I am trying out the Swiss format of tournaments, however, since the KoD tourney is currently ongoing, the start of this tourney is likely not to be till around the 23rd or so possibly later due to the lack of sign ups currently. 13. https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLB7E9LL-WM3bIeP3qRJoIOJBJ8Zu9nuQf I have a bit of a goofy playlist, I don't only upload lp stuff, I also upload smash stuff every now and again, and i'm intending to upload alot more, be it goofy, cool or humiliating. a few examples include.
  14. This is going off Shin's old idea http://serenesforest.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=54784&page=1, but we never got the most recent patch, and with all the tourneys of late, in terms of wacky results So lets see how the people of the Forest think, I set all the characters into this questionnaire of sorts, when we have alot of results I will post the data it spat back out at me. Should say that, customs are not thought of in this evaluation. The questionnaire is here Use this form to vote.
  15. A major in Japan has just concluded (some foreign players were there as well). There you go, a very interesting set of results. https://www.reddit.com/r/smashbros/comments/4yu7ct/congratulations_to_the_winner_of_umebura_sat/ More results here, apperently KEN has a hype Sonic, but I still have doubts that it was hype, because this is Smash 4 Sonic we are talking about, the reason I dropped him as a main was because of his hilariously lame playstyle in comparison to his actual games where he is stylish and cool. Maybe i'll be proven wrong when I watch more.
  16. Ok guys, King of Dankess is now over, Congrats again to Aura for securing the victory. Now we have some more gimmick ideas to try out (Doubles is still in a planning phase sometime down the line).
  17. I know tons of people who have issues with Luma in Smash 4, I just saw this in my subscription box, so I figured I'd share it with you all. He goes over all the characters, check the video description for the times, although I will paste them here too.
  18. Welcome to the King of Dankness! in this gimmick tourney, we have the honor, nay the privilege to use only Ganondorf in an epic 16 Dorf battle to the death. If people really want a 3DS version of this, feel free to ask, and show you have a bit of support, because I felt this kind of tourney would only appeal to some, the next main tournament will be Swiss styled, as suggested by Knife. Which will again be a dual system tourney set, 3DS and Wii U. The start of this tournament is likely to be the middle or towards the end of the month. Although if we get a full bunch really fast it could be sooner. The way stage choice works is thus, either both players agree to a stage to start on, or do a method to decide who starts striking stages, my personal suggestion is Game & Watch Hammer, which is when both players pick Game & Watch and use his Side B move and whomever gets a higher number gets the first stage strike. 20. As Nerf Me to the Moon Wii U ended and 3DS is starting to get to the end of its run, I figured its time for another one of these, and as you know, the next gimmick tourney is in the voting phase http://serenesforest.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=64659 Is there anything you lot would like to see in the next standard tourney? Doubles perhaps? A bigger group of players? Seeing as we are getting alot more people interested in general it seems like. If you'd like to voice future ideas for gimmick tourneys that works too. I'm open to suggestions for changing up the next traditional tourney a little bit, but nothing like not tourney legal, just mild suggestions, if people have a arguments for a stage being legal, this is the time to voice it, also peoples opinions on Halberd would be nice to know, since we've had it be "legal" the past few tourneys. Also 3DS folks, I would like to hear your opinions as well, considering I scrapped up that stage list with the best intentions but was unsure how it'd work out, among other things. This is also a good time to ask me questions about what goes on behind the scenes when I set these tournaments up, if you are curious. Current Champions of Past Tourneys
  21. Now seeing as the last gimmick tourney I made an error and didn't give it time limits, it never got anything acomplished, i'm changing that by enforcing strict timelines on those too. But anyways, this poll will be for the commonly requested gimmicky tourneys I've gotten in the past, to see what people would want. Be it from the skype group, the discord group or PM request. Doubles is a likely next regular Wii U event, 3DS will still be getting tourneys as well, but this is just a general "what do you guys want out of the requests I've gotten"
  22. Welcome to Nerf Me to the Moon! Which is the next segment in our smash tourneys, This will mostly be currently an interest check, as my capture card is acting funky so I won't be able to record matches. However I would like to continue these as it helps our players maintain their growths. The name was suggested by Refa, to make a fun little poke at the 1.1.6 patch, there will also be a 3DS edition as well this time around The time this will start is not clear to even me at the moment, I just need to make sure I can get 16 people for each, we will then decide a schedule based on that timeframe Bracket: http://sforestsmash.challonge.com/NMttMU Ruleset 3 Stock 8 Minutes Best 2 of 3, except in Finals, best 3 out of 5 Double Elimination No Customs Starter Stages ● Battlefield ● Final Destination ● Smashville ● Dreamland 64 ● Town & City Counterpick Stages ● Duck Hunt ● Lylat Cruise ● Halberd ● Omega Stages* * Treated as Final Destination in banning phase. If Final Destination is banned, Omega Stages are banned and vice versa.** ** New to our ruleset Character rotation must be done in a set, until you use all 3 characters you cannot repeat. The way stage choice works is thus, either both players agree to a stage to start on, or do a method to decide who starts striking stages, my personal suggestion is Game & Watch Hammer, which is when both players pick Game & Watch and use his Side B move and whomever gets a higher number gets the first stage strike.
